It has been the 1214 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 21 June, there were 77 combat engagements on the front lines. Ukrainian defenders are halting the enemy, holding the line, and disrupting russian plans.

The russian army launched artillery attacks from russian territory targeting the vicinity of the following settlements: Pokrovka, Novodmytrivka, Porozok, Izdetske, Rozhkovychi, Dmytrivka, Myropilske, Popivka, Prohres, Chuikivka, Vysoke, Malushyne, Luhivka, Bachivsk, Tovstodubove, Ulanove, and Marine in Sumy oblast; Tymofiivka in Kharkiv oblast; and Liskivshchyna in Chernihiv oblast.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks. The enemy carried out three airstrikes, dropping six guided bombs, and launched 152 artillery attacks, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Southern Sloboda, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the vicinity of Kamianka and toward Krasne Pershe. The enemy also conducted airstrikes near the settlement of Komisarove.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian forces repelled one enemy attack near Holubivka, while another engagement near Zahryzove is ongoing.

Towards Lyman, there were 11 combat clashes near the settlements of Hrekivka, Ridkodub, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and in the vicinity of Cherneshchyna, Olhivka, Novyi Myr, and Karpivka. Four clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Siversk, the enemy launched two attacks near Hryhorivka; one engagement is still active.

Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy launched six attacks near Bila Hora and towards Predtechyne. One clash continues at this moment.

Towards Toretsk, the invaders attacked seven times in the vicinity of Dyliivka, Shcherbynivka, and Yablunivka. Three engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy remains highly active. There were 29 engagements of varying intensity near the settlements of Myrne, Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Shevchenko, Udachne, Orikhove, Kotliarivka, and Shakhove, Novopavlivka, and Oleksiivka. Five battles are still underway. The enemy carried out airstrikes on the vicinity of Razine, Novoeconomichne, and Sukhyi Yar.

Towards Novopavlivka, the aggressor attempted to advance four times near the settlements of Myrne, Shevchenko, and Vilne Pole. Two combat engagements are still in progress.

Towards Orikhiv, the occupiers tried to push forward three times near the areas of Novoandriivka and Kamianske. Additionally, enemy aircraft struck the settlements of Lobkove and Stepnohirsk.

Towards Huliaipole and Kherson, the enemy did not conduct active offensive operations but carried out an airstrike on the settlement of Kozatske in Kherson oblast.

Ukrainian forces are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of contact and in its rear areas.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informs that during a body repatriation exchange, russia returned 20 bodies of russian servicemen dressed in Ukrainian uniforms to Ukraine. Notably, one of the transferred individuals was a citizen who had fought on the russian side.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that Ukraine will begin exporting its own military technologies to partner countries in Europe and beyond. The plans include establishing production of drones, missiles, and potentially artillery systems abroad.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

The Regional Military Administration (RMA) reports that there were 188 combat engagements.

In the Southern Sloboda, the enemy launched 15 assaults on the positions of our units in the vicinity of Zelene, Hlyboke, Kamianka, Fiholivka, and Vovchansk.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy made three unsuccessful attacks, attempting to advance near Stepova Novoselivka and Holubivka.

Shelling

The RMA reported that a 60-year-old man was killed in the village of Staryi Saltiv, Chuhuiv region, as a result of an enemy drone strike.

Around 13:40, an enemy Molniya-type UAV crashed in Kyivskyi district of the city. The debris fell in a forested area, causing a fire.

During the night, russian forces struck the village of Ivashky in Zolochiv community with FPV drones for the fourth consecutive day. The attack significantly damaged the roof of a two-story apartment building, shattered windows, and destroyed doors.

Over the past day, six settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under enemy fire.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons against Kharkiv oblast:
▪️ 30 unguided aerial rockets;
▪️ 6 KAB guided bombs;
▪️ 6 Shahed-type UAVs;
▪️ 1 Geran-2-type UAV;
▪️ 1 Lancet-type UAV; and
▪️ 3 FPV drones.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:
▪️ In Kharkiv region, power lines were damaged (Tsupivka village);
▪️ In Kupiansk region, a transformer (Kupiansk city) and a car (Osadkivka village) were damaged;
▪️ In Bohodukhiv region, a private house, an outbuilding, and a garage were damaged (Ivashky village); and
▪️ In Izium region, a bus stop and a fence were damaged (Mykolaivka village).

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

Towards Toretsk, the situation remains tense. russian forces are attempting to encircle Kostiantynivka, using drones and artillery to cut off supply routes. In some cases, infantry soldiers are forced to walk up to 20 kilometers carrying ammunition and gear to reach their positions, reported an officer of the 12th Azov Brigade with the call sign Kultura.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops continue to increase the number of attacks toward Siversk. Over the past day, Ukrainian forces repelled seven assaults by the occupying army in the areas of Hryhorivka and Ivano-Darivka. The day before, there had been four attacks.

The highest number of engagements occurred towards Pokrovsk— 53 in total. Towards Lyman and Novopavlivka, there were more than 10 attacks, while towards Toretsk, the russian army carried out 20 assaults.

Shelling

Honcharenko,  Head of Kramatorsk military administration, says that in the morning, russian troops shelled Kramatorsk three times: first, a Lancet drone struck a civilian truck on the outskirts of the city. An hour and a half later, they twice shelled a residential area. There is damage to residential buildings; consequences are being assessed.

The military administration reported that one person was killed due to russian artillery strikes on Kostiantynivka. The occupiers shelled the city’s private sector for 40 minutes.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of the RMA, reported that seven people were wounded as a result of russian attacks on Donetsk oblast in the morning of June 21. In Semenivka (Kramatorsk community), two women and one man were injured after four air bombs were dropped on the village. Two more were wounded in Pokrovsk, and one person each in Bilokuzmynivka and Illinivka.

Three more people were injured in russian attacks on Donetsk oblast on June 20. Police recorded 3,132 enemy strikes on frontline positions and residential areas.

The enemy struck 15 settlements, including the towns of Bilytske, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Sloviansk, and the villages of Bilokuzmynivka, Zoloti Prudy, Ivanopillia, Markove, Ozerne, Pryiut, Rai-Oleksandrivka, and Sofiivka.

In Rodynske, russians struck with two FPV drones — one civilian was injured, and a shop and a civilian car were damaged.

One person was wounded as a result of artillery shelling in Pokrovsk.

The occupiers attacked Ozerne in Lyman community with artillery — one person was injured; a private house, garage, and civilian car were damaged.

Five Geran-2 drones struck Sloviansk, causing destruction in the industrial zone.

In Lyman, drones damaged a private house and a power line; in Sofiivka (Kramatorsk territorial community), eight private homes were damaged.

In Kostiantynivka, russia used both drones and artillery — four private houses, a car, and a critical infrastructure facility were damaged. More than 1,900 subscribers were left without gas.

In Markove (Kostiantynivka community), russian troops dropped a GAB-250 aerial bomb, damaging a farm enterprise. In Bilokuzmynivka, four houses were damaged.

In Druzhkivka, a drone strike damaged two civilian vehicles. In Pryiut (Druzhkivka community), a private house was damaged.

Luhansk oblast

The day before, russian forces attempted 34 barrel artillery strikes. Towards Lyman, 14 enemy assaults were repelled, including in the area of Hrekivka.

The occupiers have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of rebuilding Popasna, a city they completely destroyed in the spring of 2022 during their assault. The damage to residential buildings and infrastructure has been assessed by the occupiers at 99%. The so-called “lpr” occupation administration has advised Popasna residents to seek housing in neighboring Sokolohirsk.

Since April, russian forces have shut down the water utility company in Sievierodonetsk. Since then, the water supply situation in the city has deteriorated significantly. Water pressure has dropped, affecting access for residents on upper floors — where water is now almost always absent. Some buildings receive no water at all. In addition, outages have become more frequent. These are not scheduled — there are no published timetables, people don’t know when water will disappear, and each outage lasts longer than the previous one.

Despite the absence of a local water provider, residents have started receiving bills from the utility company, which plans to impose higher tariffs and take control of water billing in Sievierodonetsk.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to updated data, as a result of the russian combined attack on the capital on 17 June, 216 objects were damaged in the city, including 111 in Solomyanskyi district. Aid headquarters continue to operate in the areas affected by the attack.

According to Kyiv City State Administration, as of 19 June, Kyiv residents whose property was damaged or destroyed during the russian attack on 17 June had submitted 296 applications for compensation under the state programme ‘eRecovery’. Residents of Solomyanskyi district submitted 119 applications to the Register.

The State Border Service (Northern Border) reported that in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, a Przewalski’s horse, an endangered species listed in the Red Book, was killed by an explosive device left behind after the full-scale russian invasion. The mutilated body of the animal was found near one of the abandoned forest routes, where russian occupation troops had previously been stationed.

The Regional Military Administration informed that nine new Toyota Hilux pickups were handed over to the Ukrainian military. The vehicles will reinforce the strike unmanned aerial vehicle company of the 114th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade, which is currently performing combat missions in the Kupiansk direction.

Bucha City Council announced that the community had received two specialised vehicles from partners in Switzerland. A Scania fire engine has already been transferred to the unit in Vorzel, while a Mercedes-Benz emergency rescue vehicle will strengthen the capabilities of the municipal brigades at the ‘Buchaservice’ municipal enterprise.

Zhytomyr oblast

The Regional Military Administration informed that after a long captivity, two Ukrainian defenders from Zhytomyr oblast – from Stanyshivka and Korosten – returned home.

Oleksandr Bondarchuk, Head of the ‘UAV School’ project, announced that on 21 June, the first class of the UAV School, an educational project for civilians, was held in Zhytomyr. Over the course of two weeks, 20 participants will learn the basics of drone construction, their types and areas of application, and will also gain practical piloting skills.

According to the Regional State Administration, on 19 June Zhytomyr welcomed participants in a charity initiative – the ‘From The Hague to Kyiv’ support marathon, in which Ukrainian war veterans are covering 600 km from Yagodin to Kyiv. The mission aims to raise €130,000 for psychological and social support for veterans.

Sumy oblast

Oleh Hryhorov, Regional Governor, said that at approximately 5:30pm., russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in Kovpakivska region of Sumy community, reportedly using a Lancet loitering munition. Around 6:40pm., another strike hit the roof of a multi-storey residential building. The attack damaged the premises of a local enterprise. No injuries were reported. A fire broke out at the site, and emergency crews are working to eliminate the consequences.

Sumy Regional Police reported that as a result of another russian artillery strike, civilian infrastructure was damaged in one of the villages of Shostka region. A private residential house was damaged, while an outbuilding and two garages were destroyed.

On the evening of 20 June, russian forces struck Sumy by a drone. A Lancet loitering munition hit a multi-storey residential building. A 75-year-old woman was injured, suffering multiple fractures and bleeding, and was hospitalised. The roof and around 20 windows in two five-storey residential buildings were damaged as a result of the attack.

From the morning of 20 June to the morning of 21 June, russian forces carried out over 60 attacks on 25 settlements across 10 territorial communities in Sumy oblast. Sumy and Shostka regions recorded the highest number of strikes. The enemy actively used 30 VOG grenade drops from UAVs and up to 10 strikes by guided aerial bombs (GABs). They also launched attacks using FPV-drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles.

Over the past day, 58 people were evacuated by local authorities, in cooperation with State Emergency Service units, the National Police, and NGOs from border communities.

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Kodola, Mayor of Nizhyn, reported that on 21 June, russian forces attacked Nizhyn by drones, striking a critical infrastructure facility. A total of 10 explosions were reported on the outskirts of the city.

Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that throughout 20 June, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast — Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (5 explosions) and barrel artillery strikes (1 explosion), launched FPV-drone attacks (5 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (19 explosions). A total of 11 settlements came under enemy fire.

As a result of a russian drone attack on 20 June, a private house was damaged in Karabany village, located in Novhorod-Siverskyi community. In Semenivka community, a private house was destroyed in Yanzhulivka village, also due to an explosive device dropped from a UAV.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, reports that defenders destroyed six enemy UAVs. From evening until morning, the enemy continued its attacks on Nikopol district, using drones and artillery. The strikes targeted the district center as well as Marhanets and Myrove communities. Three private homes, two outbuildings, a power line, and a gas pipeline were damaged.

The enemy terror in Nikopol region continues. Occupiers once again attacked with drones and shelled the area with artillery. Seven men were injured. Strikes hit the district center and Pokrovske, Marhanets, and Chervonohryhorivka communities.

A fire broke out, and damage was inflicted on three private houses, a gas station, a car, an outbuilding, and infrastructure.

According to updated information, the morning artillery shelling in Nikopol damaged four private houses, an outbuilding, a garage, 20 solar panels, and a power line.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, says that during the night, defenders destroyed russian UAVs. 

Poltava oblast

According to Poltava Regional Military Administration, the enemy once again launched a massive combined attack on Poltava oblast. Most of the incoming threats were intercepted by air defense forces and equipment. In Kremenchuk region, direct hits and debris impact were recorded on energy infrastructure facilities and in open areas.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, says that at night, three russian UAVs were shot down over Cherkasy oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 21 June, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 3 russian attacks on Orikhiv region. The russian troops attempted to advance toward Novoandriivka and Kamianske. Also, russian aviation carried out strikes on Lobkove and Stepnohirsk.

Referring to the State Emergency Service, on 20 June, 18 wildfires were recorded in natural ecosystems across the oblast. 2 of them were caused by russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia and Polohy regions, damaging 2.6 ha in total.

The General Staff reported that on 20 June, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks on Orikhiv region and 1 on Huliaipole region. Clashes took place near Malynivka and in the direction of Novoandriivka.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 20 June, russian forces carried out 343 strikes on 11 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 207 UAV attacks (mostly FPV drones) targeting Matviivka, Lobkove, Prymorske, Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Charivne.

Mykolaiv oblast

Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, on the morning of 21 June, russian forces launched an FPV drone attack Ochakiv city. There were no injuries reported.

During the night, air defence forces in the oblast shot down 4 Shahed drones.

On 20 June, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community by an FPV drone. There were no casualties reported.

Several Ukrainian marines from Mykolaiv were released from russian captivity on 20 June.

The State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv oblast informed that on 21 June, sappers of the SES in Mykolaiv received a Mines Eye aerial reconnaissance system. This technology, enhanced with artificial intelligence, will assist in detecting ammunition and explosives in the oblast. The device was provided by the UN Development Programme in Ukraine.

Odesa oblast

According to the Air Command South, during the night, air defence forces destroyed 24 drones over Odesa oblast. In total, 8 UAVs were shot down on 20 June.

Kherson oblast

Relying on the information provided by the CMA, a water supply facility was damaged in Kherson due to russian shelling. Water outages or scheduled supply disruptions are expected in parts of Dniprovskyi, Korabelnyi and Tsentralnyi districts. Repair efforts are ongoing.

An educational institution was damaged during another russian strike on Korabelnyi district of Kherson.

The RMA reported that in Tsentralnyi district of Kherson, an 85-year-old woman sustained a concussion, explosive trauma, a closed head injury and a traumatic injury to her left shin. A 76-year-old woman was hospitalised with a concussion and explosive head trauma.

According to the SES of Kherson oblast, on 20 June, emergency services extinguished 4 fires caused by russian attacks. Fires engulfed 30 ha of wheat fields, 10 ha of dry grass, private houses and outbuildings.

Referring to the RMA, in Bilozirka, a 63-year-old woman sought medical help after being wounded in a shelling attack the previous day. She was diagnosed with a blast injury, concussion, and hypertensive crisis.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 20 June, russian forces shelled 20 settlements in Kherson oblast. 2 high-rise buildings, 14 private houses, a garage and several vehicles were damaged. 7 civilians were injured.

Police evacuated a 26-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter from shelling-hit Bilozirka. The woman requested assistance and the family was transported to safety in an armored vehicle with support from the Save Ukraine volunteer organisation.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

A new Safety Classroom has appeared in Kovel region on the basis of Bucynsk Lyceum of Dubivka Village Council. The Classroom is divided into several learning zones and equipped with equipment for first aid, fire safety, there is a psychological relief zone and a play zone, as well as a traffic safety zone.

Zakarpattia oblast

In the oblast, in 5 months of 2025, 70 families became participants in the Own Home program, 15 of them were families of military personnel, veterans, and combatants. To help them improve their housing conditions, UAH 16m has already been allocated to these families.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Caring for the Hero’s Family is an important project aimed at supporting families of Defenders. Within its framework, a new season of one-day trips to the Carpathian region has started. 17 participants had the opportunity to get to know Opillia by visiting interesting locations.

Lviv oblast

Vasyl Ketsyk, originally from Morshyn, returns from captivity. He was captured in May 2022 while defending positions near the village of Toshkivka, Luhansk oblast.

Vasyl Voloshynskyi from the village of Kupnovychi, Rudkivska community, who was exchanged on 23 May, returns from captivity. Ruslan Yavorsky is a resident of the village of Ilynyk, Turkivska hromada. He was captured while defending Popasna. He spent over 3 years in captivity.

Nazar Pavlyukovsky returns home from enemy captivity. The soldier was born in the village of Kosheliv, Lviv region. He was considered missing since December 2023. He was captured near the settlement of Robotyne, Zaporizhia oblast.

A delegation from Lviv RMA visited Ireland on a working visit. The purpose of the trip was to exchange experience in the field of inclusion and social protection, implement joint humanitarian projects, and establish international partnerships.

Rivne oblast

58 internally displaced persons from Dnipropetrovsk oblast were accepted in Rivne oblast. All of them are wards of Vasylkiv psychoneurological boarding school.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA reported that among those released from captivity are 4 defenders from Ternopil oblast. The OVA reported this.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The municipal Veteran Space together with public organizations is implementing an important project in Khmelnytskyi to support women from military families. They have the opportunity to change their profession or even take a step towards opening their own business. Five training courses are already in operation: driving courses; sewing skills; IT technologies and SMM; hairdressing and confectionery.

Chernivtsi oblast

Roman Klichuk, Head of Chernivtsi City Council, met with Dr. Stefan Keller, Mayor of Dusseldorf. During the visit, they signed a grant agreement on the joint implementation of an international project aimed at improving the inclusiveness and quality of administrative services.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

A meeting of the interior ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Poland took place in Tallinn and Narva. Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, and a representative of the Frontex agency also joined the discussion. The ministers agreed to initiate a ban on issuing visas and residence permits within the Schengen area to servicemen of the moscow armed forces and fighters of other armed groups that participated in the war against Ukraine. This ban should remain in place even after the end of the war.
