It has been the 910th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking measures to hold back the russian occupiers’ advance. The terrorists continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with air and missile strikes, as well as numerous artillery bombardments. 

There were 54 engagements on the front line. The most intense fighting occurred towards Pokrovsk.

russian forces are actively using aviation in Kursk region, launching 17 airstrikes and deploying 27 guided bombs on russian federation settlements. Artillery continues to shell Ukrainian border settlements, including Porozok and Pozhnia in Sumy oblast.

Towards Kharkiv, four clashes  occurred near Lyptsi and Vovchansk, with two ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, russian troops launched nine assaults on Ukrainian positions near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, Berestove and Andriivka. The situation is particularly tense near Stelmakhivka, where four enemy attacks are ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the enemy attacked in the vicinities of Torske, Novoserhiivka, Makiivka, Hrekivka and Serhiivka. Since the start of the day, nine clashes have been recorded, with two still ongoing. The situation is under control.

The enemy continues attempting to break through Ukrainian defences towards Siversk but faces strong resistance. Near Spirne, the occupiers tried unsuccessfully to push back Ukrainian units once.

Towards Kramatorsk, russian troops have tried five times to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their positions. All assaults near Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar and Predtechyne were repelled by Ukrainian soldiers.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy, supported by assault and bomber aircraft, attacked Ukrainian positions five times. One battle is ongoing near Toretsk, where the invaders have already dropped 11 KABs on the city today.

The situation towards Pokrovsk remains tense. Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks in the vicinities of Panteleimonivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Novohrodivka, Mykhailivka and Ptyche. Fighting is ongoing at four locations.

Towards Kurakhove, the invaders attacked Ukrainian units five times, attempting to advance near Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka and Pobieda.

No active enemy movements have been observed towards Vremivka, Orikhiv and Kherson, though airstrikes continue. Piatykhatky in Zaporizhzhia oblast, Olhivka and Burhunka in Kherson oblast were hit by unguided air rockets, and KAB strikes were launched on Shliakhove and Shylova Balka in Kherson.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ command is taking the necessary steps to counter the enemy’s advance and stabilise the situation.

State Emergency Service deminers have neutralised over half a million explosive devices in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. More than 140,000 hectares of territory have been surveyed.


Hanna Hvozdiar, Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries, reported that Ukraine is capable of producing 3m drones annually, but this requires funding. With millions of drones, millions of munitions are also needed. The Ministry of Strategic Industries is currently developing a range of drones with munitions for the Ukrainian military, focusing on standardisation. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff said that the Defence Forces repelled 24 russian assaults towards Toretsk yesterday. The russian army attacked near Niu-York, Nelipivka, Zalizne and Toretsk. The russian army attacked Pokrovsk axis where Ukrainian troops repelled 66 russian attacks.  In total, the General Staff recorded 133 russian attacks on the eastern front. 

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff reported that as of 4pm, six russian attacks continue in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kharkiv, four firefights took place near Lyptsi and Vovchansk since the beginning of the day, two of them are ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, russian troops stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces nine times near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, Berestove and Andriivka. Tense situation near Stelmakhivka, where four russian attacks continue.

At around 12:25pm, the occupiers attacked Kozacha Lopan village of Derhachi community. The shelling damaged the building of the village council. According to preliminary information, three women who worked on public and socially useful works on the basis of the starosta’s office are under the rubble. Rescue operations are complicated due to the high threat of repeated strikes. All relevant services are on site. A decision may be made to relocate the local administration inland.

At 4:45pm, russians attacked Nechvolodivka village of Kinsrashivka community, Kupiansk region. According to the RMA, plastic pipes and firewood were burning as a result of the shelling of a civilian enterprise.

At 4:30pm, russians attacked beyond Novyi Myr village of Borova community, Izium region. As a result of the shelling, grass was burning in the open area.

At 2:18pm, russians attacked Nechvolodivka village of Kinsrashivka community, Kupiansk region. A private house, an outbuilding and a truck were on fire as a result of the MRLs’ attack.

At 11:30am, russians attacked Hlushchenkove village of Borova community, Izium region. As a result of the shelling, 2 non-residential buildings and grass on an open area of 2.5 hectares were on fire.

At 10:50am, russians attacked Kozacha Lopan village of Derhachi community, Kharkiv region. A 61-year-old man was injured when a drone hit a civilian car, and the 65-year-old driver was killed.

At 9:50am, the enemy attacked Kupiansk. A 59-year-old woman was injured in the shelling.

At 9:45am, the russian army attacked Kupiansk forestry in Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, coniferous litter burned on the area of 500 sq m.

Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops nine times near Vovchansk and Lyptsi. Fighting is still ongoing in two places.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 12 times. Defence forces repelled ten attacks near Petropavlivka, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Synkivka and Stepova Novoselivka. The situation is tense, two firefights are ongoing.

The press service of the regional prosecutor’s office said that six russians who tortured people during the occupation of Savyntsi community have been identified. Investigators found that one of the illegally detained died as a result of torture.

Yuliia Ivanenko, Deputy Head of Lozova Regional Military Administration, reported that about 10,000 children out of 13,700 school students will be able to attend offline classes. According to her, the fund of protective structures in the region’s educational institutions includes 10 radiation shelters and 42 simple ones.

Donetsk oblast

Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that as of 1:30pm, two people were killed in Donetsk oblast since the beginning of the day. A woman was killed and two apartment buildings damaged.

One person was also killed in a shelling of Siversk.

The RMA said that 14 houses caught on fire as a result of a russian drone strike on Velyka Novosilka.

The russian army fired at an evacuation vehicle in Donetsk oblast. Selydove City Military Administration said that a kamikaze drone struck a rescue vehicle in Ukrainsk with three people inside. There were no casualties.

The Ministry of Reintegration reported that the Coordination Headquarters has finally approved the forced evacuation of families with children from Pokrovsk and Rodynske and twelve other villages in Pokrovsk region.

Over the past two days, 19-20 August, out of 324 attacks along the entire frontline, 177 in total were towards Pokrovsk and Toretsk.

The 53rd Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh continues to hold its positions in Niu-York towards Toretsk. According to the brigade, russian invaders are attacking Ukrainian units in small groups in the battles for Niu-York and are constantly trying to demonstratively hang flags. The brigade has not noticed any changes in the situation amid the operation in Kursk region.

The Energy Ministry said that due to russian shelling in Donetsk oblast, a mine was de-energised. At the time, there were 55 miners in the mine, all of whom were brought to the surface.

Roman Padun, Head of the CMA, stated that at dawn, the russian army shelled two settlements of Kurakhove.

Also russian troops attacked Berestky village and Kurakhove town, probably with cluster munitions from the Uragan multiple rocket launcher system. 

Yesterday police recorded 2,778 hostile attacks along the frontline and in the residential sector. The occupiers fired at 14 settlements.

124 civilian objects were destroyed, including 39 residential buildings, a cafe, a cultural centre, a paramedic and obstetric station, a shop, educational institutions, enterprises, administrative buildings, petrol stations, agricultural machinery, carsand communications.

Also russians shelled Kostiantynivka from artillery, killing a man and injuring another resident, damaging 4 apartment buildings, a shop and a car.

The enemy launched three S-300 missiles at Pokrovsk, injuring a man and damaging 4 apartment buildings, an educational institution, a petrol station and an agricultural company.

Two civilians were injured in Hrodivka.

In Serhiivka, russian troops hit a farm with an S-300 missile system, damaging the premises and more than 40 pieces of agricultural machinery and vehicles.

As a result of the missile attack on Hannivka, 5 private houses, 6 civilian infrastructure facilities and cars were damaged.

The occupiers opened fire on Myrnohrad with S-300 and artillery, damaging 11 private houses, a business, and a gas pipeline.

Moreover, russian terrorists dropped an UMPB D-30 SN bomb on Shakhtarske, damaging 7 private houses.

Luhansk oblast

Near Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Hrekivka, the russians are putting the most pressure, trying to find a weakness in our defence. According to the RMA, the enemy continues to fire directly at the populated areas, using cannon and rocket artillery, drones and aircraft. Yesterday, Makiivka suffered the most from the occupants’ shelling, and there were also hits in Nevske.

Last winter, about 530 power grid facilities in the so-called “lpr”and “dpr” were damaged by bad weather. Since then, a number of occupied settlements have been without electricity or have extremely limited power supply. Regional and local budgets do not provide funds for the repair of this equipment. Relevant restoration work has not been started for more than six months. In order to have time to do something before the cold weather sets in, they have once again appealed to the kremlin to reallocate funds.

The forest around Sievierodonetsk has once again caught fire. This time, in the area of the cemetery near the village of Voronovo. Local “rescuers” pretend to be in control of the situation. In fact, they are only watching to ensure that the fire does not spread to residential buildings and they are not even trying to extinguish the flames in the forest. Due to the inaction of firefighters, the fire has already spread to other areas of the forest.

In those areas of Sievierodonetsk where combat operations took place in 2022, housing is not being restored.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

A private house was damaged and power lines were cut in Kyiv oblast as a result of a russian drones attack. According to the regional military administration, the enemy assaulted oblast at night. Air defence forces were deployed and shot down enemy targets. There were no hits to critical and residential infrastructure. There were no casualties.

Serhii Chernyshev, Director of the Municipal Security municipal organisation, counted that since the beginning of 2024, more than 12,000 people have undergone military training at Kyiv National Resistance Training Centre, including about 8,000 civilian volunteers.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, announced that the readiness for the new heating season in Kyiv oblast is 80%. Work is underway to provide settlements with alternative energy sources.

The RMA reported that there are currently 1,285 shelters in educational institutions in Kyiv oblast. The preparation of educational institutions for the new school year continues, kindergartens and schools are being provided with shelters so that as many children as possible can attend schools in person or in a mixed format.

According to the RMA, restored Kapitoshka kindergarten, previously damaged by the russian occupiers, has started working in Kozarovychi village. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 86 kindergartens in Kyiv oblast have been damaged and destroyed. 71 preschools have already been restored.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that the soldiers of the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians, who are fighting in Pokrovsk sector, received much-needed equipment as charity aid. 100 FPV drones and an electronic warfare system were sent to the front.

The Ministry of Culture informed that the first military church was opened in Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. The church was opened in the Church of the Life-Giving Source on the territory of the Lower Lavra. The church is closed to the public, but it will be opened specifically for the needs of the military. Military chaplains will conduct services here, along with the monastery brethren and the bishop. 

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the RMA, the training session was held in Zhytomyr oblast for pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service who returned from performing tasks in the de-occupied territories. The training was aimed at restoring internal resources, reducing anxiety and relieving excessive mental stress in the context of military operations.

Sumy oblast

Iryna Yukhta, Acting Head of Krasnopillia community, reported that in the afternoon, the russian army launched an air attack on the community in Sumy oblast. A strike hit the fire station building in Slavhorod, injuring a driver and two civilians. In Naumivka, a KAB munition strike caused damage to the water supply system. In Krasnopillia, a private house was damaged, with windows, doors, and walls destroyed.  The enemy attacked the town with artillery, missiles, and kamikaze drones. The shelling lasted for nearly 5 hours. A woman was injured, and private houses and a business building were damaged.

During night and morning, russians carried out 28 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in  Sumy oblast, resulting in 65 explosions. The attacks targeted  Yunakivka, Khotin, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Krolevets, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman communities.

On 20 August, russians carried out 97 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in  Sumy oblast, resulting in 291 explosions. The attacks targeted  Sumy, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Nova Sloboda, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman, Druzhbivka, Seredyna-Buda and Znob-Novhorodske communities.

Yunakivka community: the enemy launched an air attack by KAB munition (6 explosions). As a result, 1 civilian was killed, and 1 civilian was injured.

Nova Sloboda community: there was an air attack by KAB munition (6 explosions).

Bilopillia community: the enemy attacked by artillery (20 explosions), mortar (10 explosions) and an airstrike with KAB munitions occurred (4 explosions).

Krasnopillia community: russians struck by artillery (41 explosions), mortars (30 explosions), MLRS (5 explosions), FPV drones (10 explosions). 1 civilian was injured by FPV drones shelling. Additionally, airstrikes with KAB munitions (7 explosions) were carried out, along with UAV drops of explosive devices (VOG) (2 explosions).

Velyka Pysarivka community: the enemy dropped explosive devices from UAVs (1 explosion), FPV drones shelling (11 explosions), artillery attacks (13 explosions) and mortar shelling (20 explosions).

Seredyna-Buda community: the russians dropped 31 mortar shells on the community’s territory. Additionally, FPV drone strikes were recorded (8 explosions).

Sumy community: 1 attack by  FPV drone (1 explosion).

Druzhbivka community: the enemy hitted by artillery (4 explosions), by mortar (12 explosions) and FPV drones (7 explosions).

Putyvl community: FPV drone strikes were carried out (4 explosions).

Znob-Novhorodske community: the russians dropped 4 mines on the community’s territory.

Shalyhyne community:  FPV drone strikes were carried out (7 explosions), mortar shelling (4 explosions).

Hlukhiv community: FPV drone strikes (11 explosions).

Esman community: UAV dropped explosive devices (12 explosions).

Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported that during an airstrike in Yunakivka community in the Sumy oblast, there was one fatality and one injury, and an investigation has been launched. According to the investigation, on 20 August, 2024, the enemy carried out an airstrike on the civilian infrastructure of Yunakivka Territorial Community in Sumy oblast, using methods of warfare prohibited by international law. As a result of the enemy’s attack, a 58-year-old woman was killed in her home, and another 67-year-old woman was injured and hospitalised.

Volunteer Hryhorii Yanchenko from Kherson has arrived in Sumy to collect funds for  Ukrainian Armed Forces. The 77-year-old, call sign Uncle Hrisha, has been helping the Ukrainian military since 2014. Currently, the pensioner is travelling around Ukrainian cities to raise funds and transfer them to the army’s needs. He will be in Sumy for a week. You can meet him from morning until lunchtime at the Central Market, and later at other locations in downtown. Anyone interested can meet and talk with Hryhorii, as well as contribute to the support of Armed Forces of Ukraine through donations.

Sumy RMA reported that Sumy participated in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine. The main topics discussed included preparation for the heating season and the new academic year, improving land resource management, and European integration processes in communities.

The Ministry of Energy reported that due to shelling and airstrikes from the russian border, 1,600 subscribers in Sumy oblast have been cut off from electricity. In total, 96 settlements, affecting more than 11,000 subscribers, remain without power. Medium-pressure steel gas pipelines were also damaged, resulting in 433 subscribers being disconnected from the gas supply.

Chernihiv oblast

On 20 August, russian forces attacked Semenivka community in border of Chernihiv oblast. Border guards recorded 10 explosions.

There were nine hits towards Karpovychi, likely from artillery.

Additionaly, there was one hit by dropped explosive devices from UAVs in towards Blesznia.

No casualties or injuries from shelling among the local population have been reported.

Viacheslav Chaus,  Head of Chernihiv RMA announced  that over UAH 60m in subsidies have been allocated for the creation and modernization of food preparation facilities in Chernihiv oblast. This year, kitchens and dining halls in eight schools across the oblast will be created and modernised using state subsidies. Chernihiv oblast received UAH 60.5m, which can also be used to purchase necessary equipment. The funds will be distributed among general secondary education institutions in Bakhmach, Varva, Dobrianka, Kulykivka, Ponornytsia, Ripky, Tupychiv, and Chernihiv communities.

Viacheslav Chaus,  Head of Chernihiv RMA reported that shelters will be built in two vocational schools in Chernihiv oblast using state subsidy funds. The government has allocated an additional UAH 5b for the construction of shelters in 77 general secondary and vocational education institutions across Ukraine. The implementation of these projects will allow students to return to in-person learning.

Volunteers from Ireland, Brazil, Australia, the Czech Republic with Ukrainians  are rebuilding homes in Chernihiv oblast that were completely destroyed by the war. In total, 600 volunteers from 22 countries have participated in the international camp in Lukashivka. Currently, 26 people are working there, but the number is constantly changing: some have come to Ukraine for their vacation, while others have been here for several months and plan to stay until autumn, as long as the season lasts.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

At night, the defenders of the sky shot down an enemy drone over the oblast.

In the evening, the enemy attacked Nikopol with kamikaze drones. At night, they fired artillery at Myrove. And in the morning, they used FPV against Marhanets. There were no casualties or damage. The air alert in the region lasted for almost 12 hours in a row.

In the afternoon, Air Defence Forces successfully shot down an enemy Shahid over the oblast.

Throughout the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region more than a dozen times. They fired with artillery and kamikaze drones. They targeted the region centre, Pokrovsk, Marhanets and Myrove. Infrastructure, 3 private houses, a petrol station, a car, an outbuilding and a power line were damaged. According to the updated information, a house and an outbuilding were damaged in the morning strikes on Marhanets.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​ Four enemy drones were shot down over Vinnytsia oblast at night. There was damage to windows in a civilian infrastructure building and one residential building, as well as to the roof of another residential building. No one was injured.

Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that dry showers, drones and a refrigerator were sent from Vinnytsia to the frontline. It includes 17,000 dry showers, 200 FPV drones and a truck with a refrigerator to deliver food to the positions. 

Three Vinnytsia residents of the 28th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign received state awards. Soldier Vasyl Danylchenko was awarded the Order For Courage of the III degree and was presented with the ‘Golden Cross’ badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Soproniuk Heorhii was awarded the badge For Military Service. Bohdan Maneliuk was awarded the ‘Golden Cross’ badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It became known that seven defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were killed. In particular, Oleksandr Chaikovskyi, Serhii Boiko, Bohdan Synchuk, Serhii Kukhar, Viacheslav Hamza, Vitalii Maksymchuk and Heorhii Morozov.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that the air raid lasted almost nine hours. The defenders of the sky shot down an enemy Shahid ove Kirovohrad oblast. There were no consequences. 

Two defenders from Kirovohrad oblast were killed in the war with russia. They are Anatolii Khonka from Oleksandrivka and Valentyn Chabaniuk from Perehonivka of Holovanivskyi region.

Junior Sergeant Anatolii Khonka was born in 1973. He died on 1 May 2024 near the village of Serhiivka, Svatove region, Luhansk oblast. Since then, he was considered missing.

Valentyn Chabaniuk, born in 1973. He was a mechanic-driver of the military unit A2167. He died on 17 August 2024.

Poltava oblast

Filip Pronin, Head of RMA, reported that Poltava oblast experienced one of the largest alarms in the country, which lasted 11 hours on the night of 20-21 August. 

Poltava oblast said goodbye to the Defenders of Ukraine. Dmytro Gamov was killed in Kursk oblast of the russian federation and Serhiy Butko was killed in the Donetsk oblast.

In Poltava oblast, recruitment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues through recruitment centres. Currently, one of the military units needs medics, riflemen, financiers and economists. They are also currently forming a company of strike unmanned aerial vehicles.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, the Head of RMA, reported that the air alarm in the oblast lasted for more than nine hours in a row. 7 russian UAVs were shot down in Cherkasy oblast. In one case, a fire broke out. The survey of the area is ongoing. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On 20 August, 2024, russian forces shelled the village of Malokaterynivka. As a result of these attacks, two people were killed and eight others were injured. Around 5:40 p.m., the enemy struck a children’s café in the centre of the village near a stadium, where a football training session was scheduled to begin in 15 minutes. The attack resulted in the death of one child, with six other children and an 18-year-old girl injured. At 11:08 p.m., russian occupiers carried out another shelling of the settlement. The blast wave and debris damaged 50 private houses, seven of which were completely destroyed. The body of a deceased man, a resident of Malokaterynivka, was found in one of the buildings. A 45-year-old woman was injured, and three more children sought medical attention on the morning of 21 August. 21 August was declared a Day of Mourning in Kushuhum community for those killed as a result of russian aggression.

Yesterday, 20 August, the occupiers launched 303 strikes on 12 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces carried out three airstrikes on Lobkove, Novoandriivka, and Novodarivka. 198 UAVs of various modifications attacked Bilenke, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodarivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, and Poltavka. Five MLRS strikes hit Robotyne, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, and Novodarivka. 97 artillery strikes were carried out on Malokaterynivka, Hulyaipole, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Novodarivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Poltavka, and Preobrazhenka. Ten reports of the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure were received.

According to the General Staff, the enemy units twice unsuccessfully attempted to advance towards Novodanilivka and near Mala Tokmachka on Orikhiv front.

Mykolaiv oblast

On the night of 21 August, air defence forces destroyed ten enemy UAVs of the ‘Shahed-131/136’ type in Mykolaiv oblast.

Yesterday, on 20 August, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community three times with FPV drones. As a result of one of the strikes in the village of Dniprovske, a private house was damaged. Additionally, yesterday at 11:56 p.m. and this morning at 5:42 a.m., the enemy carried out artillery strikes on Kutsurub community. There were no casualties.

Energy infrastructure was damaged on one of the substations in Mykolaiv oblast due to the fall of a russian drone . As of 9:52am, power has been restored to 408 residential and 30 commercial consumers who were previously left without electricity due to russian shelling.

Odesa oblast

As of 6 a.m. on 21 August, there are no enemy ships in the Black and Azov Seas. There is one enemy ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

In the past 24 hours, nine ships passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in the interests of the russian federation, and two ships passed into the Azov Sea.

The government allocated an additional 5 billion hryvnias for shelters in schools and vocational training institutions. This additional funding will allow for the construction of modern shelters at Dachnenskyi Lyceum №2, Chornomorskyi Lyceum №3, Biliaivskyi Lyceum №3, Isaievskyi Vocational Agricultural Lyceum, and the Kodyma branch of the Northern Vocational College in Odesa oblast. During the prioritization of educational institutions, factors such as the community’s risk zone, the number of students in the schools, transportation options, and the organization of shift learning were considered.

A social-artistic project “Faces of the Ukrainian Dream” was presented in Odesa, which tells the world about Ukrainian children, their experiences, dreams, and feelings during the war unleashed by russia against our country. As part of the project, activists installed stands with drawings and essays by Ukrainian children around the monument to Duke de Richelieu in the city center. In these artworks, children express their vision of life in a country that has suffered from armed aggression.

Kherson oblast

Today, the occupying forces attacked a civilian car in Kherson with a drone, injuring two people. Kherson Regional Military Administration also reported that a 27-year-old man, who was outside at the time, was hit by another enemy drone strike. He suffered blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to his shin.

Around 8am, the russian army struck Komyshany, injuring two people.

During the night, russian forces attacked Tomyna Balka, damaging at least three private homes. Two people were injured.

At approximately 10:20am, the russians attacked Antonivka, wounding two local residents. Later, it was reported that an 84-year-old local woman died as a result of another russian attack. Two residents of Kindiika were also injured.

Today, the occupying forces carried out airstrikes on Vesele in Nova Kakhovka community. The strikes from guided aerial bombs destroyed at least four residential houses and three outbuildings, and another house was damaged by an enemy drone attack.

A resident of Mykilske village was injured due to russian attack, suffering blast trauma.

Today, local residents who were injured due to russian aggression sought help at hospitals in Kherson oblast. A resident of Kherson, who was injured in the morning shelling of the city, suffered blast trauma and a concussion. A resident of the village of Blahovishchenske suffered blast trauma as a result of a russian attack. Three residents of Zmiivka were injured due to yesterday’s russian shelling and drone attacks.

Yesterday, one person was killed and 15 were injured, including a child, due to russian shelling. The combined attacks of the enemy affected Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Komyshany, Tomyna Balka, Bilozerka, Zelenivka, Nadezhdivka, Poniativka, Sofiivka, Zymivnyk, Beryslav, Mykhailivka, Zmiivka, Zamozhne, and Vesele. The shelling damaged 38 objects: 21 private houses, three multi-story buildings, a school, three kindergartens, seven cars, a gas pipeline, a water supply system, and a well.

It was reported that russian invaders attacked our positions five times on Prydniprovskyi front. They were met with fierce resistance, suffered losses, and retreated.

On the initiative of the charitable organization “International Solidarity,” residents of Shevchenkivka received the necessary supply of fuel briquettes for the entire autumn-winter period. Volunteers provided each family with over two tons of fuel materials.

Military and veterans can, in addition to dental prosthetics, receive dental treatment services free of charge within the framework of the pilot project Dental prosthetics for certain categories of persons who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Lviv oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Iryna-Loredan Stanculescu, Consul General of Romania in the city of Chernivtsi. An Honorary Consulate of Romania is planned to be opened in Lviv oblast.

Ivan Tarabas, resident of the village of Drohomyshl, was awarded the III degree Order of Courage. On 23 April 2022, he was mobilised to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed on 21 July 2022 during hostilities.

Andrii Rabia, resident of the village of Khorosnytsia, was posthumously awarded the Combatant’s Cross. Call sign Hasan. He served in the 420th Separate Rifle Battalion of the Military Unit A482. He was killed on 24 August 2023 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Novoyehorivka, Luhansk oblast.

The Defender of the Fatherland medal was posthumously awarded to Ihor Verhun, native of the village of Chernyliava. He served in the Military Unit A4007, the 110th Brigade, the 1st Battalion, the 1st Company. He was killed on 2 February 2023 during hostilities near the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast.

Lviv medics are restoring a 76-year-old woman’s jaw, which was crushed by a fragment. A fragment of ammunition crushed the jaw of an elderly woman from Kherson oblast. She has not been able to eat normally for over a year. Specialists of the UNBROKEN centre began to help the injured. As part of the (Not) To Beauty project, surgeons plan to restore the woman’s jaw and restore her quality of life.

Rivne oblast

Thanks to the financial support of Rivne RMA, a tire fitting station was set up in one of the military units. It will be able to service both cars and trucks.

In Rivne oblast, the community converted an administrative building for IDPs. Velikoomeliansk community has taken in almost 500 IDPs since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Another 6 people were placed the other day – during the arrival of the 11th evacuation train from Donetsk oblast. To do this, the building was repaired: windows were replaced, engineering networks were installed, living rooms and bathrooms with showers were installed. Furniture and appliances were installed in the rooms.

Officers of the educational security service will work in 88 schools of Rivne oblast. Specifically, there are 33 schools in the regional centre, 33 in Varas region and 22 in Sarnen region.

Ternopil oblast

At night, during an air alert, the Air Defense Forces destroyed 2 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type within the area. There were no casualties or injuries. There was no information about property damage.

During the day, specialists of the Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted air quality measurements in various microdistricts of Ternopil and nearby villages. Indicators developed for the period 19:00-21:45 pm on 20 August indicate a slight increase in the concentration of chlorine in the air in the Novy Svit neighbourhood and a significant decrease in other directions.

Ternopil City Council sent 30 FPV drones for one of the units defending the independence of the country in Donetsk oblast thanks to the budget funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council allocated funds to purchase a modern DNA laboratory. Thanks to it, Khmelnytsky Research Expert Forensic Center will be able to identify dead or missing soldiers.

Khmelnytskyi community sent 15 DJI Mavic 3T Thermal quadcopters with thermal imagers worth over UAH 2.2m to the military thanks to the expense of taxpayers. These are quadcopters that allow you to work both during the day and at night.

Chernivtsi oblast

At the current moment in 2024, local communities of Bukovyna have directed UAH 144m to military needs. They were received by 51 military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, units of Chernivtsi Border Detachment and the National Guard of Ukraine. Communities allocated funds from their own revenues of local budgets in the form of subventions directly to military units and for the purchase of necessary goods at their request, namely unmanned aerial vehicles, EWs, generators, means of communication and equipment for military and computer equipment, fuel and lubricants , payment for vehicle repair services and much more.

By the end of the year, Germany will supply Ukraine with 4 more IRIS-T air defence systems of various ranges, 10 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks, 16 self-propelled howitzers, 10 Leopard main battle tanks, combat drones and several thousand ammunition for artillery and tanks.

Yana Chernokhova, Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, stated that the country will buy ammunition for Ukraine with the proceeds from the frozen assets of the russian federation.

Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, trade representative of Ukraine, reported that Japan will open a trade representative office in Ukraine. He added that Japan plans to provide $188m to support economic recovery projects in Ukraine. Ukraine’s priorities include energy, housing and communal services, critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining and business support.

Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister, asked the National Security Council to develop a plan for broader support for Ukraine. It is not only about military support, but also about industrial, economic and diplomatic support.
