russian artillery shelling hit Tymonovychi in Chernihiv oblast; Starykove, Brusky, Dmytrivka, Arkhipivka, Tovstodubove, Novovasylivka, Riasne, Pokrovka and Popivka in Sumy oblast. Turyia and Mala Rybytsia in Sumy oblast came under air strikes.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy tried to attack Ukrainian troops’ positions near Vovchansk three times.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy made three attempts to advance towards Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Kolisnykivka, Nova Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove, which were successfully repelled by Ukrainian defenders.
Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 14 times near the settlements of Nove, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodiazi, Myrne, Serhiivka, Hrekivka and Kopanky. Three firefights are currently ongoing.
Towards Siversk, Ukrainian defence forces repelled an enemy attack near Bilohorivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled six enemy attacks in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar and towards Novomarkove and Bila Hora. Another battle is currently underway.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions three times in the vicinity of Toretsk and Sukha Balka. One firefight is still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy is still highly active. There were thirty-nine clashes of varying intensity. Ukrainian troops are repelling enemy attacks in the vicinity of Vodiane Druzhne, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Dachenske, Shevchenko, Kotlyne, Udachne, Nadiivka, Kotliarivka, Preobrazhenka and Andriivka. Ukrainian defenders are giving the occupier a worthy rebuff, seven battles are ongoing. The enemy’s aviation struck with guided aerial bombs at Poltavka, Malynivka, Nova Poltavka, Hnativka, Pokrovsk, Novoserhiivka, Udachne and Novopavlivka.
Towards Novopavlivka, the occupants tried to break through 15 times in the vicinity of Rivne, Pryvilne, Rozlyv, Kostiantynopil, Burlatske and towards Odradne and Bahatyr, were stopped, but three combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, near the village of Chervone, the Defence Forces successfully repelled two enemy attacks, and two more combat engagements remain incomplete. The enemy also fired unguided aerial missiles at Malynivka.
Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks near Mala Tokmachka and Stepove, and another battle is ongoing. The enemy launched an airstrike with anti-aircraft gunships on Novoandriivka.
Towards Kherson, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
Towards Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks, and three more combat engagements are ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out five airstrikes, using nine guided bombs, and fired 112 times, including eight times from multiple launch rocket systems.
Ukrainian troops are depleting the enemy along the entire frontline and in the rear.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
The RMA reported that towards Kharkiv, the occupiers attacked Ukrainian positions three times near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, as of 16:00, russians made three attempts to advance to the positions of the Defence Forces near Kolisnykivka, Nova Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.
Towards Lyman, three attacks continued, with a total of 14 russian attacks in the area, including near Kopanky.
There were 199 combat engagements.
Eight combat engagements took place towards Kharkiv yesterday in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Kamianka, Topoly and towards Novovasylivka and Lyptsi.
Towards Kupiansk, there were five occupiers’ attacks. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults in the vicinity of Novooosynove, Hlushkivka, Nova Kruhlyakivka and Zahryzove.
Shelling
The press service of the Kharkiv region’s State Emergency Service reported in Tsapivka, Zolochiv community, a woman born in 1950 was injured this afternoon as a result of russian airstrikes. According to the press service, the hits partially destroyed and damaged residential buildings and outbuildings. A fire broke out on the territory of a private household – a house and dry grass in the yard were on fire.

russians bombarded Kupiansk for 20 minutes: a man was killed by a hit under the rubble, and, according to preliminary data from the regional prosecutor’s office, another remains. A number of houses and outbuildings were damaged in the town. The russian army used a FAB-1500 with UMPK.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the RMA, reports that at 15:40, russian troops hit a yard in the village of Tymofiivka, Zolochiv community, with FPV drones. The hit caused a power outage and a power outage, and damaged a private house, a barn and outbuildings.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that almost 7,000 windows were smashed in apartments in Kharkiv due to russian shelling in April. 2,071 windows were blown out in stairwells, and another 1,499 balconies had damaged glazing. Windows are a separate problem. 10,533 were broken. In apartments, on balconies, in entrances. This is an unprecedented amount. We managed to close over 90% of them – 9,830 windows. But this is only temporary. There is no complete glazing yet.
Donetsk oblast
Shelling
At night, russia attacked Kramatorsk, Dovha Balka and Novovodiane. Preliminary, there were no civilian casualties, and the extent of the damage is being assessed.
Police recorded 3,274 hostile attacks along the frontline and in the residential sector. 18 settlements were under attack. 56 civilian objects were damaged, including 26 residential buildings.

In Novoekonomichne of the Hrodivka community, russian troops hit a private house, killing one person and wounding one.
A russian drone attacked a civilian car in Dorozhne of Shakhovka community, resulting in one wounded.
The occupiers attacked Kostiantynivka with bombs and drones, damaging an apartment building, a private house, an administrative building of an enterprise, 5 garages, 2 civilian cars, and 2 outbuildings.
Lyman came under fire from Uragan MLRS – 6 private houses and 2 outbuildings were damaged.

Other
The hospital, which can accommodate 45 people, was set up in Donetsk oblast by the 18th Slavic Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The hospital not only stabilises the wounded before they are evacuated, but also treats chronic diseases and plans to carry out planned surgeries in the future. They are also ready to provide medical care to civilians.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders attacked Ukrainian positions towards Lyman more than 20 times. In particular, the fighting took place near Nadiia and Hrekivka. The occupiers used cannon artillery eight times. They fired from multiple launch rocket systems. They sent 210 UAVs towards Ukrainian defenders.
In Lutuhyne’s educational institutions, security forces are teaching children to become hostages. They call it anti-terrorist training. The armed occupiers demand appropriate submissive behaviour from boys and girls. They remind them that such a situation can happen at any time. People in russia are used to it.
Like the residents who remained in Siverskodonetsk, they are already used to the lack of mobile phone service and limited capabilities of wired phones. After most of the places where mobile coverage was still available became controlled by the invaders, the locals started looking for other options for communication. The first walkie-talkies in the city were brought in by civilians in mid-2023. Since then, this practice has only become more widespread.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that since the beginning of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, more than 36,000 hectares of the oblast’s territory have been inspected, of which more than 7,447 hectares are agricultural land. During this time, 86,023 pieces of explosive ordnance have been neutralised. In 2025, it is planned to clear 1,579 hectares of agricultural land. Since the beginning of the year, the SES has inspected 1,505 hectares.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that 61 applications for financial assistance have been received from residents of the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital whose homes are currently uninhabitable as a result of the russian attack on 24 April. These applications are for payments of 40,000 hryvnias for 2 months of rent. 48 people have already received this assistance.
In Svyatoshinsky district, 14 houses are undergoing instrumental inspection for restoration.

Kyiv Regional Centre for Training of the Population for National Resistance reported that another hundred residents of Kyiv oblast have completed a 4-week training programme as part of the National Resistance. They have been learning knowledge and skills for four weeks under the guidance of experienced instructors, veterans of the full-scale war. On the day of graduation, the cadets passed a real test of endurance and character, the ability to work in a team and act according to protocol in a stressful situation.
On 1 May, the First Lady of Ukraine and the team of the Olena Zelenska Foundation met with the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg, Xavier Bethel, in Kyiv. During the meeting, it was announced that Luxembourg would allocate 1 million euros for psychosocial support for Ukrainian youth.
The regional State Emergency Service reported that recently, in Bucha region, Kyiv oblast rescuers arrived at the territory of an enterprise under an emergency call and rehearsed a scenario to eliminate the consequences of an enemy attack on the facility. More than fifty firefighters took part in the exercise.
The UWG reported that two self-defence training sessions for women were held last week, organised by the Ukrainian Women’s Guard. The training was held at the KNEU sports complex under the guidance of an experienced trainer Viktor Kraevsky.
On 3 May, the Kyiv City Red Cross will hold an awareness-raising event entitled ‘Mission of Charity: Together for Safety and Care’. The event aims to raise awareness of first aid, mine risk, psychosocial support and humane treatment of animals. It will take place from 11:30 to 16:00 at the Hryshko National Botanical Garden.
Zhytomyr oblast
The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, visited the Resilience Center in the Zhytomyr City Territorial Community. The Center offers visitors individualized support plans and services provided by certified psychologists and social workers. It hosts programs such as “Parenting Without Stress” and “Children and War: Teaching Healing Techniques”, as well as recovery groups for veterans and their families. Various forms of psychological and art therapy are also available. Since the beginning of 2024, the Center has provided services to 6,650 community residents.
In April, a new cultural project titled “United by Traditions” was launched in the Brusyliv community. Its goal is to promote the integration and cohesion of internally displaced persons with local residents through cultural activities, including art workshops and an ethnofestival. The project is being implemented by the NGO “Native Home – Brusyliv Region.”
Sumy oblast
Yurii Zarko, Head of Bilopillia community, reported that in the morning, russian forces dropped three guided air-dropped bombs on Bilopillia. They hit the outskirts of the city.
The Regional Military Administration informed that from the morning of 1 May to the morning of 2 May, russian forces carried out over 70 shelling attacks across 23 settlements in 9 territorial communities of the oblast. The most attacks were recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided air-dropped bombs (15 strikes) and FPV-drones (over 30 attacks).
russians injured three residents of Sumy oblast. One man was hospitalised and is in a condition of moderate severity. The other two injured individuals are receiving outpatient treatment.
According to Serhii Bespalko, Head of Velyka Pysarivka military administration, in Velyka Pysarivka, russian shelling on 1 May damaged a hospital, a kindergarten, and a funeral services bureau.
During the night of 1 May, the enemy carried out a series of drone strikes on Sumy community. In Stetskivka village, 16 residential houses were damaged, along with non-residential buildings.
The North Operational Command reported that three houses were destroyed in Bilokopytove village in Hlukhiv community as a result of russian FPV-drone strikes on 1 May. Their owners had evacuated earlier.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and non-governmental organisations from border communities, evacuated 27 people.
The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection informed that due to russian missile and bomb strikes on border and frontline settlements in Sumy oblast, 626 cows have been relocated to Rivne oblast.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that during the day on 1 May, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out FPV-drone strikes (15 explosions), dropped explosive devices from UAVs (15 explosions), and launched guided air-dropped bombs from aircraft (4 explosions). Nine settlements came under enemy fire.
The North Operational Command informed that in Novhorod-Siverskyi community, on 1 May, a guided air-dropped bomb strike on Rohivka village damaged four private houses and farm buildings. In Kovpynka village, a private house, farm structures, and a municipal building were damaged. As a result of an enemy attack on Huta-Studenetska village in Snovsk community, two private houses were destroyed and damaged.
On the front line, Viktor Voynikov, a Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter from Chernihiv, was killed. In civilian life, he was the artistic director of the Equator Dance Theatre at Chernihiv Regional Philharmonic Centre. According to the report, the fighter lost his life in the line of duty.
Chernihiv Regional State Administration announced that by the end of May 2025, a touch-screen information kiosk will appear in Chernihiv, displaying biographies of fallen soldiers in the russian-Ukrainian war since 2014. The stand will feature photos, biographies, awards, and ranks of fallen fighters who were born in Chernihiv oblast.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that at night, the enemy attacked the oblast with drones. The defenders of the sky from the Vostok Air Force destroyed 6 enemy UAVs. Two people were injured in the attack in Sloviansk community of Synelnykove region. A 47-year-old man was hospitalised in moderate condition, and a 31-year-old man was hospitalised. Fires broke out at enterprises. The occupiers also attacked Nikopol region twice. They targeted Pokrovka and Chervonohryhorivka communities.
The occupiers again terrorised civilians in Nikopol region. Four people were injured in Marganets as a result of enemy shelling. They are a 42-year-old woman, a 25-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy. In total, there were more than a dozen attacks in the area. Nikopol, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities were targeted. There were several fires. Four private houses, an enterprise, an administrative building, infrastructure and a power line were damaged. Novopavlivka community of Synelnykivskyi region was also hit with unidentified rocket-propelled grenades. An educational institution was destroyed.

In Vinnytsia, ten students have developed a device for shelters that automatically counts the number of people in the shelter and has an air purification function.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that at night, defenders shot down 11 russian UAVs in Cherkasy oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
In the evening of 1 May, the russian army launched a massive attack on Zaporizhzhia. The enemy carried out at least 10 strikes using Shahed drones on the regional center. Thirty-one people were injured, including two children. As a result of the attack, 27 apartment buildings, more than 10 private houses, non-residential buildings, and educational institutions were damaged. The premises of the Ukrzaliznytsia locomotive repair plant — a civilian enterprise specializing in the repair of passenger electric locomotives — were also destroyed.

In total, on 1 May, the occupiers executed 589 attacks on 16 populated areas in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 17 airstrikes on Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Sviatopetrivka, Zelene, and Tsvitkove. 349 UAVs of various types attacked Zaporizhzhia, Bilenke, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. Nine MLRS attacks hit Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, and Charivne. Two hundred fourteen artillery strikes were carried out on Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Novodarivka, and Pavlivka. 142 reports were received regarding damage to apartments, private houses, cars, and garages.
On 1 May, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled four russian assaults towards Orikhiv.
Mykolaiv oblast
On 1 May, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community five times with FPV drones. Also, in the morning of 2 May at 04:03, the enemy attacked the city of Ochakiv with an FPV drone. There were no casualties.
The multisensory system MinesEye is being tested in Mykolaiv oblast. It allows for the detection of explosive objects from the air using drones. The work began in March 2025. In total, specialists plan to survey 400 hectares of land in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv oblasts.
Odesa oblast
As of 6:00 am on 2 May, 15 enemy ships were stationed in the Black Sea, including 5 carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo capacity of up to 34 missiles. There were 3 enemy vessels in the Mediterranean Sea, including 1 carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to 8 missiles.
Over the past day, 8 vessels passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in russia’s interests, while 2 more ships entered the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
Around 1:00 pm, russian forces attacked downtown Kherson with a UAV. The enemy struck a parking lot, causing one car to burn and several others to be damaged. Two men are known to be injured.
A woman who had been injured in a russian shelling of Kherson the day before sought medical help. Preliminary reports indicate that the 67-year-old Kherson resident sustained a blast injury. Medical assistance was also required for a man from Kherson who was injured in a russian airstrike on 27 April. He suffered a blast injury and a concussion.
Yesterday, the enemy shelled settlements of Antonivka, Zelenivka, Bilozerka, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Shyroka Balka, Mykilske, Beryslav, Mykhailivka, Novoraisk, Zolota Balka, Shliakhove, Osokorivka, Novovorontsovka, Havrylivka, Prydniprovske, Komyshany, Burhunka, Veletenske, Dudchany, Ivanivka, Inhulets, Kizomys, Molodizhne, Poniativka, Sadove, Tokarivka, Tiahynka, Chervonyi Maiak, and the city of Kherson using drones, artillery, and airstrikes. As a result of the attacks, 3 apartment buildings, 11 private houses, a gas pipeline, a utility structure, and private vehicles were damaged. Six people were injured due to russian aggression.
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that a social services worker in Tiahynka community recently hit a mine while delivering humanitarian aid to one of the villages in the community. The explosion damaged the vehicle and trailer, but the driver was unharmed.
Ukrainian forces repelled one enemy attack in the Prydniprovske direction. Over the past day, russian losses amounted to 165 personnel, 13 artillery systems, 27 units of automotive and armored vehicles, 1 tank, 5 UAVs, 15 motorcycles, 3 boats, 3 generators, 2 UAV antennas, 7 communication antennas, 1 ammunition storage site, 2 fuel and lubricants storage sites, and 1 Starlink antenna. Additionally, 63 shelters, 2 observation posts, and 2 firing positions were destroyed.

A National Hearing Center and an educational center for the latest prosthetic technologies will be created in the Lviv region. The Trump administration has notified Congress of its intention to authorize $50m in arms exports to Ukraine. This is the 1st such authorization since Trump returned to the White House. The defense exports to Ukraine are to be made through Direct Commercial Sales.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, and Yuriko Bakes, Minister of Defense. They discussed Luxembourg’s participation in the reconstruction of Kryvyi Rih region and the city of Kryvyi Rih, European integration and diplomatic efforts to achieve a reliable peace.
