On 19 December, there were 52 combat clashes on the frontline.
Communities of border settlements have suffered from enemy artillery fire, in particular, Volfyne, Ryzhivka, Rohizne, Bezsalivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Boiaro-Lezhachi of Sumy oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there was one combat clash with enemy troops. In addition, the enemy carried out 57 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the Defense Forces repelled five enemy attacks near Vovchansk, Prylipka and Izbitske.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian defenders near the settlement of Pishchane.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out three attacks, towards Druzheliubivka and Lyman and in the vicinity of the settlement of Shandryholovove. One battle is ongoing.
Towards Slaviansk, there were two enemy attacks in the vicinity of Serebrianka. One clash is currently ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 10 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of Rodynske, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne and towards Novopidhorodne – they were unsuccessful.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy tried to break through the defense of our defenders in the vicinity of Pryvilne, Zlahoda and towards the settlements of Rybne, Oleksandrovhrad, and Nove Zaporizhzhia. The defense forces repelled seven enemy assaults, two more clashes are ongoing. Pidhavrilivka was hit by an airstrike with a guided bomb.
Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks by the occupiers near Huliaipole and Dobropillia, two more clashes are ongoing. Enemy aviation struck Huliaipole and Vozdvizhenka.
Towards Orikhiv and Kherson, there were no clashes.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff reported that russian troops stormed five times near Vovchansk, Prylipka and Izbitske, once again the russian federation tried to break through the defense of the Ukrainian military near Pishchane.
There were 193 combat clashes in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, Ukrainian troops stopped nine enemy attacks near Starytsia, Prylipka, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka and Dovhenke.
Towards Kupiansk, there were nine attacks. Ukrainian defenders repelled the enemy’s assault actions near Kurylivka, Pishchane, Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Novoplatonivka and Kupiansk.
The press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reported that a 47-year-old man was killed as a result of a russian FPV drone attack in the village of Osynove, Kupiansk region, on the morning of December 19, .
12 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy strikes.
One person was killed and 7 people were injured as a result of the shelling.
In the village of Pisky-Radkivski, Borova community, a 35-year-old and 44-year-old men were injured; in the village of Blahodatovka, Kindrashivka community, a 22-year-old man died, and 66-year-old, 39-year-old, and 37-year-old men and 65-year-old and 64-year-old women were injured.
Also, doctors provided assistance to a 58-year-old and 66-year-old man who was injured as a result of shelling in the city of Kupiansk on December 13.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️4 private houses, 2 outbuildings, a car (Ridnyi Krai village), 3 apartment buildings, outbuildings, power grids, a music school (Odnorobivka village) were damaged in Bohodukhiv region;
▪️A outbuilding was damaged in Kupiansk region (Velykyi Burluk village);
▪️A car was damaged in Izium region (Pisky-Radkivski village), a private house, and an outbuilding (Oskil village);
▪️A car was damaged in Kharkiv region (Slatyne village);
▪️A civilian enterprise was damaged in Lozova region (Lozova city);
▪️A private house was damaged in Chuhuiv region (village Staryi Saltiv).
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 72 people per day. 29 people remained. A total of 15,147 people have been registered at the Point since it began operating.
During the transit center’s operation, social workers from Proliska-Kharkiv helped 603 people restore documents and obtain banking services, and also provided 1,126 consultations to support the social adaptation of displaced persons.
An excavator with a 40-meter boom — the only one in Ukraine — was brought from abroad to Kharkiv to carry out dismantling work on high-rise buildings. Vitalii Melnyk, an engineer with the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine, says that the need for it arose because many high-rise buildings in the city were damaged as a result of the strikes.
Donetsk oblast
In Pokrovsk, servicemen of the Skelia assault regiment captured two Colombian citizens who fought on the side of russian occupiers. According to the captured Colombian citizens, they were going to the russian federation to work on construction sites, they were promised to be paid $2,500 per month.
Towards Pokrovsk, the russian federation troops increased the number of attacks to 50, while previously there were 38 per day. Ukrainian defenders stopped the assaults in the vicinity of the settlements of Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Mirnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia and near Toretske, Nove Shakhove and Novopavlivka.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the russian federation troops carried out 28 attacks, and another 10 towards Lyman.
Yulia Stepaniuk, Spokeswoman for the 117th Motorized Rifle Brigade, says that russian troops intensified the assaults, using small groups of 2-3 people, advancing under the cover of fog and snowfall. Ukrainian defenders are recording an increase in night attacks. According to the spokeswoman, russian troops arriving at the front line have an average level of training. Most of them are russian citizens operating as part of regular or mercenary formations.
The Vostok Military Unit reported that Ukrainian troops continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovsk, where search and assault operations and the elimination of russian units in the urban area are ongoing, the group said. Intense fighting is taking place in the southern areas of Pokrovsk.
In Mirnohrad, the Defense Forces are holding defensive lines and destroying russian military personnel on the approaches to the city. Isolated attempts by russian groups to penetrate the southeastern areas are being recorded, but Ukrainian soldiers promptly detect and eliminate them.
Towards Slaviansk, russian troops are trying to bypass Siversk near Dronivka. Ukrainian units are blocking the advance of the russian military and holding the defense.
Maksym Belousov, Head of the communications department of the 60th Motorized Rifle Brigade, reports that towards Lyman, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding back mass attacks near Stavky and Novoselivka. These settlements are under the control of the Defense Forces. The russian army is losing up to 12 soldiers for every Ukrainian soldier.
The 81st Military Brigade reported that information about the alleged capture of the settlements of Serebrianka and Dronivka by the russian army towards Slaviansk is not true. The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to hold positions within the specified settlements and on the adjacent borders.
On December 18, there were 1,950 enemy strikes.

89-year-old Kostiantyn left his native village in Dobropillia region after his house was completely burned down as a result of a drone strike. The pensioner spent two days in his own car, sleeping in the cabin and eating breadcrumbs with his animal, the Proliska humanitarian mission reported. According to the man, they survived all the shelling together and the moment the drone hit the house. A social support specialist from the Proliska Humanitarian Mission helps the man restore his documents, obtain bank details, and an identification number.

Mariupol City Council reported that the occupiers announced the “restoration” of the “Ukrainian House” in Mariupol, which they destroyed in 2022. The building, where civilians hid during Russian shelling, was abandoned and burned down several times during the years of occupation. Now the so-called renovation is being presented as part of the “revival” of the city.
Over fifty residents were evacuated from Druzhkivka and Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka in a week

Luhansk oblast
Towards Lyman and Slaviansk, 13 times the invaders tried to find weak spots in our defenses on the sectors of the front. They attacked near seven settlements near Novoiehorivka. There the enemy carried out 14 mortar attacks, used drones 12 times. They also struck with a multiple launch rocket system and automatic grenade launchers.
The occupiers in Luhansk oblast are looking for places to develop tourism. Among the proposals they are considering is the territory of the half-destroyed village of Syrotyne, near Siverskodonetsk, and around it, where burned-out areas of the destroyed forest remained. They want to organize a recreation area there.
Centralized water supply has been absent in most areas of Lysychansk since the summer of 2022, when russia arrived there. The townspeople no longer hope for the reconstruction of critical infrastructure. They use irregular water deliveries. Containers for it are installed right in the entrances.
The Yellow Ribbon movement reported that in the occupied Luhansk oblast, miners at the Don Coal and Sukhodilska-Shikhodna enterprises have not been paid their salaries for 4 months. More than 5,500 miners have been left without income.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that major repairs are underway on a five-story building on Proektna Street in Makariv. The building was damaged at the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion in 2022. The work is being carried out at the expense of the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. The housing is being rebuilt for 114 residents.
The Bucha City Council reported that demining has been suspended in the community for the winter period. It is noted that the humanitarian demining teams of the HALO Trust organisation are officially entering a winter hiatus. Active work has been suspended from December 2025 to February 2026. However, the area remains dangerous. The highest level of danger remains near Myrotske. Currently, there is a confirmed threat of unexploded ordnance covering an area of over 380,000 square metres.
Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Marina Honda announced that renovations are being completed at the Kyiv Integration Hub, a comprehensive assistance centre for internally displaced persons in the capital. It is scheduled to open to visitors in early 2026. According to her, there are currently over 435,000 displaced persons registered in Kyiv.
The city council reported that the Bucha community had sent an ambulance to the front line. The Bucha ambulance was donated by partners as humanitarian aid, and the community decided to transfer the vehicle to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The vehicle now serves the 44th Separate Mechanised Brigade.
Acting Mayor of Irpin Anzhela Makeyeva reported that on 18 December, a stabilisation and surgical unit for the Khartia military and FPV drones for reconnaissance were sent from Irpin.
Zhytomyr oblast
At an extraordinary session of the Malyn City Council on 17 December, deputies voted to allocate nearly 667,000 hryvnias from the community budget for the repair of housing for displaced persons. The money was allocated on the terms of co-financing from the state budget for the current repair of a non-residential building in Malyn, which is included in the list of temporary accommodation for internally displaced persons.
Sumy oblast
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks by russia. russian forces carried out three air strikes, dropped eight guided aerial bombs and conducted 176 attacks, including seven using multiple-launch rocket systems.
In Sumy region, railway workers found a PTM-3 mine on the roof of an administrative building. The mine was removed and detonated near the site where it was discovered. According to the police, it was likely dropped by russian forces using a UAV.
Between the morning of 18 December and the morning of 19 December, russian forces carried out nearly 40 attacks on 17 settlements across 11 territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air-raid alerts in the oblast lasted a total of 13 hours and 42 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed as follows:
- in Hlukhiv community, an administrative building, premises of an educational institution, multi-storey residential buildings, private houses, non-residential premises and a vehicle were damaged;
- in Druzhbivka community, a Ukrposhta service vehicle and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- in Velyka Pysarivka community, a private residential house was damaged;
- in Sumy community, a non-residential building, a fence and a private passenger car were damaged;
- in Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house was damaged;
- in Shostka community, a multi-storey residential building and non-residential premises were damaged;
- in Seredyno-Buda community, a private residential house was damaged.
On the evening of 18 December the Regional Military Administration reported that the elimination of the consequences of a russian attack has been ongoing in Sumy for almost a day. A nighttime russian strike damaged an educational institution as well as residential and non-residential buildings. Hundreds of windows were shattered, and roof and balcony structures were damaged. An injured security guard remains under medical supervision. An headquarters is working at the site.
Seventeen children from families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine have returned to Sumy oblast after staying in the United States from late November to mid-December as part of the U4UKids programme. In Atlanta city, the children took part in cultural and sports activities and stayed with Ukrainian-speaking host families, providing a sense of safety and support.
Five healthcare facilities in Sumy oblast received humanitarian medical assistance from a hospital in the city of Drammen, Kingdom of Norway. The aid will help strengthen hospitals’ material and technical capacity and ensure uninterrupted medical care for patients under martial law.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that on the evening of 18 December, the russian army attacked the centre of Novhorod-Siverskyi by two Heran-2 strike UAVs. Around ten houses, a garage, an outbuilding and two vehicles were damaged. Two houses and one vehicle were completely destroyed. According to the State Emergency Service, an administrative building and a rescue unit also sustained damage.
Two people were injured as a result of the russian attack on the centre of Novhorod-Siverskyi on the evening of 18 December. A 21-year-old man sought medical assistance with blast injury (concussion). Another injured person, a woman, was reported on the morning of 19 December. The issue of her hospitalisation is being decided.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the course of 18 December, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Koriukivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (seven explosions) and tube artillery fire (13 explosions), conducted FPV-drone strikes (four explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (two explosions). Seven settlements came under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipro Oblast Council, reported that occupying forces attacked Petropavlivka, Ukrainka and Dubovykivka communities by UAVs. Fires broke out, with two private houses and a summer kitchen burning. Infrastructure was damaged and a vehicle was destroyed. In the morning, the enemy struck Petropavlivka community by a drone, setting a private house on fire.
russian forces continued to attack the regional centre as well as Pokrovske, Marhanets and Myrove communities. Two private houses, an outbuilding, power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged. Occupying forces also carried out drone attacks on the district centre and Zelenodolska community. A fire was reported.
Kirovohrad oblast
Kropyvnytskyi hosted the 21st nationwide “Heroes Games”. The event brought together 26 adaptive athletes from various regions of Ukraine. Participants included veterans and active servicemembers who sustained severe injuries during combat operations but continued their sporting activities.
Cherkasy oblast
In Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, residents honoured the memory of Defender Vasyl Otzemko. His body has not yet been returned and his fate remains unknown. However, his wife Alina succeeded in installing a symbolic memorial on the Alley of Heroes in his honour.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
On 19 December, at around 11:38, russians attacked Zaporizhzhia with aerial bombs. As a result of the shelling, private houses were partially destroyed, infrastructure facilities, a garage cooperative, cars, and residential buildings located near the impact sites were damaged. Seven people were injured.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 18 December, the occupiers carried out 676 strikes on 19 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian troops conducted 12 airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, Ternuvate, Huliaipole, and Orikhiv. 407 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Bilenke, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Varvarivka, Solodke, Dobropillia, and Verkhna Tersa. Four MLRS attacks were carried out on Rozumivka, Huliaipole, and Novoandriivka. There were 253 artillery strikes on Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Varvarivka, Solodke, and Dobropillia. Ninety-nine reports of damage to housing, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities were received. Three people were injured as a result of enemy strikes on Zaporizhzhia and the Polohy region.
According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 19 December, since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian defenders repelled three russian attacks in the area of Huliaipole and Dobropillia towards Huliaipole, with two more combat engagements ongoing.
In the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast, the occupiers continue the militarization of education. As reported by the Berdiansk City Military Administration, a seminar for teachers was held in Berdiansk where they were taught how to teach military training subjects and promote russian propaganda narratives. It was also noted that in the temporarily occupied territories, during “Labor (Technology)” classes, schoolchildren are already being taught to assemble UAVs — similar practices exist in schools in occupied Melitopol, where children, under the guidance of instructors, learn to assemble drones that may later be used by the russian army.
Mykolaiv oblast
Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 18 December, the enemy attacked Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities four times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.
During the night, air defense forces in the region shot down or suppressed 13 Shahed-type UAVs and decoy drones of various types.
As Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration head Vitalii Kim said, electricity supply was restored to almost all subscribers in Mykolaiv oblast after the shelling. As a result of the attack on the night of 18 December, nearly 100,000 consumers in the region were left without electricity, and energy workers had to implement emergency outages. As of 19 December, 31 consumers remain without power.
Odesa oblast
On 19 December, at around 15:32, an explosion was heard in Odesa region. Shortly before that, the Air Force warned about the threat of ballistic weapons from the south, and then reported an aerial target moving toward Maiaky in Odesa oblast. This is not the first attack on Maiaky today. At 13:17, the Air Force reported drones heading toward this settlement. According to the head of the Center for Radio Technologies, Serhii Beskrestnov (“Flash”), the russian army began attacking a bridge located nearby.
On the night of 19 December, the enemy attacked a transport infrastructure facility in Odesa region. As a result of drone strikes, there was damage recorded. Traffic on the Odesa–Reni highway was temporarily stopped in both directions.
In Odesa, as a result of another massive enemy strike, an energy infrastructure facility was damaged. The blast wave shattered windows in a five-story residential building. One person was injured. As a result of the strikes, residents of one of the largest residential districts of Odesa were left without electricity, water, and heating.
As a result of a russian attack on Odesa oblast on 18 December, a 43-year-old resident of Sarata community, Inna Vlaieva, was killed. A strike drone hit a civilian car that was traveling across a bridge. The woman was in the car together with her three children. The mother sustained severe injuries and died in an ambulance. Her three children, with bodily injuries and an acute stress reaction, were taken to the hospital.
Kherson oblast
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that at around 14:30 the enemy attacked Tsentralnyi district of Kherson. A 17-year-old girl sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to her legs.
At around 13:00, russians shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. As a result of the attack, an 18-year-old girl sustained a blast injury and concussion.
A woman sought medical help after coming under russian shelling at around 06:00 in the central part of Kherson. The 59-year-old resident sustained a blast injury, an acute stress reaction, and shrapnel wounds to the face.
A child who was injured in the morning due to russian shelling in Korabelnyi district of Kherson was taken to the hospital. The 15-year-old boy was diagnosed with a blast injury, concussion, and acute stress reaction.
At around 09:00, russian forces shelled Tsentralnyi district of Kherson. As a result of the attack, a 25-year-old woman sustained a blast injury, concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the face and neck.
A woman sought medical help after being injured last evening by a russian drone strike on a minibus in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. The 57-year-old resident was diagnosed with a blast injury and concussion.
From early morning, russian occupiers shelled the city center of Kherson. The enemy used artillery to attack residential buildings. As a result of numerous strikes, windows were blown out, facades and roofs were damaged. Critical infrastructure was also damaged.
According to the Police of Kherson oblast, yesterday, 18 December, russian troops shelled the right bank of Kherson oblast using artillery, mortars, MLRS, and various types of UAVs. Kherson, Sofiivka, Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Kizomys, Naddniprianske, Molodizhne, Novodmytrivka, Stanislav, Rozlyv, Sadove, Bilozerka, Dniprovske, Veletennske, Shyroka Balka, Oleksandrivka, Beryslav, Novoraisk, Tverdomedove, Velyka Oleksandrivka, Osokorivka, Sablukivka, Bila Krynytsia, Novopavlivka, Pervomaiske, Bilousove, Zolota Balka, Odradokamianka, Burhunka, Tiahynka, Lvivske, Olhivka, Kozatske, and Vesele were under enemy attacks. Police recorded damage to six apartment buildings and five private houses, critical infrastructure facilities, a cellular tower, a transport depot, three cars, and a moped. As a result of russian shelling, two people were killed, and 13 were injured.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The White House reported that Donald Trump has signed the US defense budget, which includes money for Ukraine. The total budget is $901bn. The document provides for the allocation of $800m to Ukraine – $400m each dollar over the next two years. The funds will go towards purchasing American weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
