Ukraine’s defence forces are holding back the russian aggressor’s offensive.
At present, the total number of combat engagements is 98.
The defence forces are taking the necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.
Hostile artillery and mortar fire affected the communities of Khrinivka, Chernihiv oblast; Oleksandrivka, Miropilske, Popivka, Bila Bereza, Kruzhok, Petrushivka, Shalyhyne, and Ulanove, Sumy oblast.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy attacked the positions of our troops three times towards Kamianka and Zapadne, two of the engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, russian invaders carried out five attacks near Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka and Bohuslavka. Three firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the invading army launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Novyi, Olhivka, Zarichne and Yampolivka. Three firefights are currently ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy is trying to advance in the areas of Chasovyi Yar, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Stupochky and Kurdiumivka. Two of the five attacks were repelled by the Ukrainian Defence Forces, and the fighting continues.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy is trying to penetrate our defences in the areas of Toretsk, Dachne, Druzhba, Ozarianivka, Dyliivka and Leonidivka. Four attacks are ongoing, and our defenders have already repelled 13 attacks.
Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders have made 31 attempts to push out troops from their positions near the towns of Vodiane Druhe, Svyrydonivka, Promin, Novopavlivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Bohdanivka and Andriivka. Ukrainian defence forces are holding back the attack and repelled 25 attacks, six firefights are still ongoing. Russian terrorists’ aviation struck Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, Leontovychi, Zvirove, Novoserhiivka, Horikhove, Nadiivka and Oleksiivka with guided aerial bombs.
Towards Novopavlivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight enemy assaults, and another firefight is currently ongoing. The enemy is trying to advance in the areas of Pryvilne, Vesele and Kostiantynopil.
Towards Huliaipole, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled eight enemy attacks in the vicinity of Novosilka and Novopil. Shevchenko village was attacked by two guided bombs.
Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks in the areas of Stepove and Lobkove.
The operation in Kursk oblast continues. Ukrainian soldiers have repelled four enemy attacks, and five more clashes are still ongoing. The enemy’s aircraft carried out seven strikes, dropping nine drones. In addition, the enemy fired 165 artillery shells at the positions of our troops and settlements.
No combat engagements took place towards Siversk and Kherson.
No significant changes were recorded in other areas.
The Ministry of Defence reported that the number of women who joined the army through recruitment has increased in Ukraine. In Ukraine, 8881 people started the process of joining the army through recruitment centres. Women make up 21% or 1830 people of the total number of candidates for the Defence Forces.
Russia will allocate €400,000 to investigate the damaged Chornobyl shelter after the russian strike. This decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Accounts Assembly jointly by the EBRD, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management. It is noted that the allocation of funding is the first step towards cooperation with partners to restore the NSC Arch to normal operation after the russian attack. The funds will be used for an expert assessment of the consequences of the russian UAV hitting the protective shell of the Arch.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that as of 4pm, two firefights continue near Kamianka and Zapadne, three firefights are taking place in the areas of Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka and Bohuslavka.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy stormed the positions of our units four times in the areas of Vovchansk, Kamianka and towards Kutkivka. One firefight is still ongoing. The enemy launched an air strike on Udy.
Towards Kupiansk, the aggressor conducted offensive actions in the areas of Petropavlivka, Bohuslavka, Lozova, Zahryzove and in the direction of Kupiansk. Ukrainian defenders have already stopped eight out of nine enemy attacks.
Attacks
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, stated that three russian guided aerial bombs hit the community at about 3:45pm. People were not injured. The first bomb landed in the meadows near Zolochiv – it is known that one household was damaged. The second bomb hit the premises of a business in Zolochiv, Kovalenko said the damage was minor. The third bomb landed in a field near Svitlychne, with no information on damage.
A woman was injured as a result of an FPV drone strike on the village of Riasne, Zolochiv community. According to him, the woman was taken to hospital and is being treated by doctors. The drone strike took place at 4:45pm.
At 3:20am, Kamianna Yaruha village was hit. A fire broke out at a civilian enterprise as a result of a Shahed UAV hit. The fire engulfed the building on the area of 1,000 sq m.
Yesterday at 4:10pm, russians attacked Kupiansk. As a result of the attack, 22 private houses, 22 outbuildings and 3 cars were damaged in the private sector. A 57-year-old man was injured.
At 3:54pm, russians attacked Velyka Shapkivka village. As a result of the shelling, preliminary CAB, an outbuilding burned down. A 66-year-old, 75-year-old, 56-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were injured.
At 12:10pm, russians attacked Hnylytsia village. A warehouse building of an agricultural enterprise was damaged as a result of a UAV crash.
At 2:55am, russians attacked Udy village. 4 UAVs hit the open area near the village. No casualties or damage.
Other
The press service of Kharkivoblenerho reported that in Zolochiv, power supply was restored to one of the residential neighbourhoods, which was cut off after an airstrike hit a substation on 25 February. The power was restored.
On 10-16 March, 20 hectares of the de-occupied territory of Kharkiv region were cleared of mines by the State Emergency Service sappers.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
The General Staff reported that the russian army continues to storm the frontline in the urban area of Toretsk. The Defence Forces repelled 14 attacks in the area of Druzhba and Toretsk.
Most of the fighting took place towards Pokrovsk of the frontline. The occupiers stormed Ukrainian positions 21 times near Sukhoi Balka, Zvirove, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Kotlynove, Novooleksandrivka, Novoserhiivka, Uspenivka, Yasenove and Andriivka.
Russian troops conducted another 10 attacks towards Lyman and Novopavlivka.
Mykola Koval, Head of the press service of the Chervona Kalyna brigade, reported that Russian infantrymen are using electric scooters to storm Ukrainian positions towards Pokrovsk. The invaders are advancing on the positions of the Defence Forces in groups of up to five people.
Attacks
The RMA reported that at around 10:30am, russia hit a private house in Pokrovsk. Two sisters aged 8 and 15 and their 12-year-old brother were injured as a result of the strike. The boy and the older girl will be airlifted to Dnipro. The younger sister was hospitalised in Dobropillia hospital.
Yesterday police recorded 3,659 hostile attacks on the frontline and residential areas. Russian troops focused their fire on 4 settlements: Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk and Siversk. 11 civilian objects were damaged, including 6 residential buildings.

In Myrnohrad, russians hit a civilian car with a drone, killing a civilian.
The enemy attacked Siversk with artillery and as a result, a civilian was wounded.
Russia dropped a FAB-250 bomb on Pokrovsk, destroying 2 apartment buildings. In addition, damage was found to an apartment building and 2 private houses caused yesterday.
The occupiers shelled Lyman with Smerch MLRS, damaging 4 private houses, 2 outbuildings and 2 garages.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders staged assault operations near Novoiehorivka and Bilohorivka. They used aircraft twice during the day. They opened fire from artillery 25 times. 197 enemy drones tried to carry out combat missions in the area of our responsibility.
In Lysychansk, local businessmen offer to buy equipment from them, including amplifiers, which can be used to get internet at home. The offer is, of course, illegal. However, it is the only option available today to maintain some kind of connection with the world around the city. Officially, only payphones can be used there.
Despite the completion of a demonstrative “major” overhaul, only some apartments in one of Siverskodonetsk’s high-rise buildings had heating. However, everyone received the corresponding charges in their bills. During the autumn and winter period, the local occupation authorities did not react to the situation.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
KCMA reported that the air raid alert in the capital lasted for 2 hours and 28 minutes at night. On the outskirts of the capital, 37 enemy UAVs were spotted. 25 drones were destroyed by air defence systems, the rest were lost or left the airspace.
According to the RMA, in Bila Tserkva region of Kyiv oblast, as a result of an enemy attack, the glazing in an apartment and the entrance of a five-storey residential building were damaged. A grass fire on the area of 0.5 hectares was extinguished.
In Kyiv, a man found an ammunition in a park in Holosiivskyi district. Sappers from the Mobile Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine arrived at the scene. Experts found that the object was a 107mm artillery shell left over from the Second World War.
Zhytomyr oblast
The medical institution reported that corporate blood donation is becoming increasingly popular in Zhytomyr oblast. Since the beginning of the year, specialists from Zhytomyr Regional Blood Centre have twice visited donors’ workplaces in Zhytomyr. Representatives of companies also come to the blood centre in an organised manner to donate directly. The Blood Centre’s teams also continue to visit oblast communities. In February, they carried out 8 visits, where they received more than 500 donors.
The RMA announced that 23 sports facilities have already joined the Veterans’ Sport programme in Zhytomyr oblast. This will allow veterans to use free services of fitness centres, gyms, swimming pools and other sports facilities that have joined the initiative
Sumy oblast
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that towards Zhuravka, Novenke, and Basivka, russian forces are attempting assault actions in small groups to build up their strength and expand the zone of active combat operations further into Ukrainian territory. Attempts by sabotage and reconnaissance groups continue, with the majority recorded in northern Sumy oblast.
Mykola Noha, Head of Shostka community, informed that russian forces struck the territory of Kaliivka Starosty in Shostka community by a Lancet drone. He stated that security measures in the community will be strengthened due to the ongoing battles at Sumy border.
According to Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on 16 March, around 5:30pm, russian forces shelled Seredyna-Buda community in Shostka region by mortars. As a result of the attack, a 65-year-old woman, who was on her own property, was killed.
During night and morning, russians carried out 29 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 32 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Okhtyrka, Velyka Pysarivka, and Seredyna-Buda communities.
Over the skies of Sumy oblast, Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners shot down 12 enemy Shahed-type UAVs.
Throughout 16 March, russian forces carried out 114 shellings in Sumy oblast, with a total of 157 strikes recorded. The enemy used mortars (2 explosions), ‘Grad’ MLRS (8 explosions), artillery (44 explosions), conducted a missile strike (1 explosion), FPV-drone attacks (48 explosions), launched GABs (7 explosions), loitering munitions (2 explosions), tank strikes (2 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (40 explosions). Thirteen communities came under enemy fire: Sumy, Mykolaivka, Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Esman, Khutir-Mykhailivka, Shostka, and Seredyna-Buda.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of russian shelling in Bilopillia community, a civilian was injured, and a car was damaged. In Seredyna-Buda community, a civilian was killed, and an apartment building was damaged. In Myropillia community, a civilian was injured when a drone struck a vehicle delivering bread.
Andriy Sybiha, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that twenty-seven children from Sumy oblast, whose parents died or went missing while defending Ukraine’s borders, have arrived in Turkey for rest and rehabilitation as part of Bridge of Hope project.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that troughout 16 March, russian forces attacked two border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (7 explosions) and barrel artillery shelling (9 explosions), conducted FPV-drone strikes (45 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (22 explosions). Explosions were reported towards 14 villages. In Medvedivka village in Semenivka community, a farm building caught fire as a result of the shelling.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that last week, russian forces attacked Chernihiv oblast daily. During this period, a total of 139 shellings were recorded, resulting in 331 explosions. Twenty-one settlements in Chernihiv, Koriukivka, and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts came under fire.
The Regional Military Administration informed that in Chernihiv, efforts to address the aftermath of the enemy strike on the five-storey building on the evening of 15 March are ongoing. Specialists from the State Emergency Service have completed search and rescue operations. The building has already been reconnected to utilities. A commission has begun examining the private sector and the high-rise building damaged by the russian drone.

Thirty-three general secondary education institutions in Chernihiv oblast will receive modern kitchen equipment for their food service facilities. This assistance will be provided by the United Nations World Food Programme.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
From the evening until morning, air defence forces were active in the oblast. The air defenders of the Air Command East destroyed 15 russian drones.
Explosions were reported in Synelnykove and Pavlohrad regions, where the enemy attack damaged infrastructure, a private house, a garage and a fire truck’s tank. Also, late in the evening, russian forces shelled Pokrov community in Nikopol region by artillery. A private house and an outbuilding were damaged, another was completely destroyed, and greenhouses were hit. There were no injuries reported. Power outages were reported in all 3 regions and specialists are working to restore electricity.
During the day, russian forces launched nearly a dozen attacks on Nikopol region, by artillery and kamikaze drones. The city of Nikopol, Marhanets and Pokrov communities were targeted, resulting in a fire and damage to a private house, garages and an unused building. There were no casualties reported.
Vinnytsia oblast
Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that residents of Vinnytsia donated an unmanned aerial system to aerial reconnaissance units. These systems enable reconnaissance missions both day and night, covering a range of approximately 40km.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, informed that air defence forces were active in the oblast overnight. There were no casualties or damage reported.
Poltava oblast
The russian forces attacked Poltava oblast, causing emergency power outages in Kremenchuk region due to falling debris from downed drones. 1,035 households and 41 businesses lost electricity.
A memorial service was held at the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine for Ukrainian soldier Anatolii Halushka, who was killed on 12 March 2025, while on a combat mission near Vesele village in Kharkiv oblast.
In Kremenchuk Humanitarian and Technological Academy, a volleyball tournament was held in memory of fallen soldier Vitalii Fuha, who was killed on 5 September 2023, in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The tournament included students and military personnel.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, stated that air defence forces were active in the oblast, destroying 15 russian drones. There were no casualties or property damage reported.
In Cherkasy, a memorial ceremony was held at the garrison church for fallen Ukrainian defender Anatolii Bielohlazov, who was killed on 8 March in Donetsk oblast due to a drone strike.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, the occupiers launched 415 attacks on nine settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy carried out seven airstrikes on Slavne and Huliaipole. 278 UAVs of various modifications attacked Kushuhum, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. Four MLRS attacks targeted Kamianske, Mala Tokmachka, and Novodanylivka. Additionally, 126 artillery strikes were carried out on Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. Three reports were received regarding damage to infrastructure and vehicles
As of 4pm on 17 March, the UAF successfully repelled eight enemy attacks near Novosilka and Novopil towards Huliaipole. Ukrainian defenders are repelling five enemy attacks near Stepove and Lobkove towards Orikhiv.
Tavriiske community received building materials worth nearly UAH 100,000. The community consists of three villages with a population of around 2,900 people. These settlements are under constant shelling, as the frontline is only 14km away. Residents continuously need building materials to repair damaged homes.
A mobile medical team, including an obstetrician-gynecologist and ultrasound specialists, visited Stepne community. Through the implementation of the “Mobile Sexual and Reproductive Health Teams” project, women can not only receive consultations from specialized doctors but also undergo free diagnostics and treatment if pathologies are detected.
Mykolaiv oblast
Yesterday, on 16 March, the enemy carried out an artillery strike at 5:31pm and later, at 1:17am during the night, attacked the waters of Ochakiv community with an FPV drone. No casualties were reported.
Odesa oblast
During the night of 17 March, the enemy attacked Odesa oblast with strike drones. A preschool educational institution, a private residential house, a store, and a car were damaged in Odesa region. One person was injured. Additionally, about 500 consumers in the suburbs of Odesa are currently without electricity due to damage to the energy infrastructure.
As of 6am on 17 March, four enemy ships were present in the Mediterranean Sea, including three carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo of up to 26 missiles.
Over the past day, two vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in the interest of russia, and nine more ships entered the Azov Sea.
The State Environmental Inspectorate assessed the environmental damage caused by russia’s attack on Odesa on 19 March, 2025, when debris ignited a warehouse containing toys. The fire resulted in environmental harm, releasing nearly 206 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The estimated damage amounts to over UAH 600,000.
Kherson oblast
A man was injured due to the detonation of a russian anti-personnel mine in Zmiivka. This afternoon, a 48-year-old man stepped on a russian Lepestok mine, resulting in an explosive injury and the amputation of his foot.
A medical worker sought treatment after being injured in a russian drone strike in Kherson on 15 March. The 44-year-old woman was diagnosed with an explosive injury, a concussion, and a shrapnel wound to her leg. Additionally, two people required medical assistance after being injured in russian shelling of Kherson on 12 March. A 68-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man were diagnosed with explosive injuries and concussions.
Yesterday, enemy fire and airstrikes targeted Antonivka, Bilozerka, Beryslav, Shliakhove, Novoraisk, Stanislav, Chervonyi Maiak, Odradokamianka, Zmiivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Komyshany, Inzhenerne, Zolota Balka, Burhunka, Vesele, Virivka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Lvove, Novoberyslav, Novovorontsovka, Novooleksandrivka, Olhivka, Tokarivka, Mykolaivka, Respublikanets, Sofiivka, Tomyna Balka, Ukrainka, Yantarne, and the city of Kherson. A multi-story building, five private houses, an ambulance, and private vehicles were damaged. One person was killed, and three others were injured due to russian aggression.

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, russian occupiers launched more than 2,000 drones in Kherson oblast last week, with nearly 80%—over 1,600—destroyed by Ukrainian forces.
Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces continue targeting enemy positions, fire points, and rear areas. Over the past day, enemy losses amounted to 126 personnel, 2 tanks, 3 artillery systems, 25 vehicles, and armored equipment, 4 motorcycles, 2 ATVs, 5 boats, and 5 reconnaissance drones. 96 enemy shelters and bunkers were destroyed.
Last week, the Fortitude medical brigade visited Orlove, Kochubeivka, Pryhiria, and Zahradivka. The team, which included a family doctor, neurologist, and cardiologist, provided free medical services, including ECGs, ultrasound scans, and laboratory tests. More than 330 residents of Beryslav region received medical assistance.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk community sent DJI MAVIC 3 PRO and DJI MAVIC 3T quadcopters to the Military Unit 3035 of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Zakarpattia oblast
Another evacuation train from Donetsk arrived in the oblast. 12 adults and 19 children left their homes due to the war. At the railway station in Mukachevo, the displaced persons were met by representatives of the regional military administration, psychologists of the State Emergency Service, medics and volunteers.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
A memorial plaque dedicated to senior soldier Ihor Perehiniak, soldier of the 50th Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine, was unveiled on the facade of Starouhryniv Lyceum. Ihor Pereginiak was killed on 27 September, 2024, while performing a combat mission in Pokrovsk region as a result of enemy assault operations.
Lviv oblast
A memorial plaque was unveiled in Lviv oblast in memory of fallen soldier Mykhailo Patyn. He was killed on 8 January, 2024 during enemy shelling near the settlement of Tabaivka, Kupiansk region, Kharkiv oblast. In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine, he was posthumously awarded the III degree For Courage Order.
Rivne oblast
The RMA reported that soldier Ivan Belskyi was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order.
Ternopil oblast
The combat unit of the Main Police Department received powerful technical reinforcement – 5 electronic warfare systems from Ternopil community.
On 15 March, a sports event was held at Tekstylnyk Sports Factory, which brought together 47 participants – veterans, military personnel, combatants and their families. This event was a great opportunity for veterans and their families to spend time actively, play sports and gain new experiences.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Large-scale exercises were held in Khmelnytskyi oblast, which were close to real combat operations. Military units, defense forces, and cadets of the Center for Training the Population for National Resistance took part in them. These exercises became an important part of training for national resistance and strengthening the defense capabilities of the oblast.
Khmelnytskyi community sent 200 FPV drones, 10-inch ones, with a reinforced battery for the military.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that from the beginning of the full-scale war until 2024 inclusive, Bukovina allocated UAH 830m to support the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine will receive €3.5bn under the Ukraine Facility program. The funds will go to support Ukraine’s macro-financial stability and the functioning of the state. The EU Council approved the tranche because Ukraine has fulfilled the necessary conditions and reforms.
Germany provided Ukraine with a new package of military assistance. It includes Gepard anti-aircraft systems and ammunition for them, VECTOR reconnaissance drones and Gereon RCS tracked drones, ammunition for Leopard 1 tanks and MARDER infantry fighting vehicles, missiles for IRIS-T SLM air defense systems, MRAP mine and ambush-resistant vehicles, WISENT 1 armored vehicles for demining and mine trawlers, a large number of ammunition of various types, drone detection systems and other equipment.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Mark Carney, Canadian Prime Minister. They discussed support for Ukraine.
