It has been the 1144 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the advance of russian occupiers. Terrorists continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with rocket, air and artillery strikes.

Ukrainian soldiers are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory. On 12 April, there were 58 combat clashes.

Communities of Prokhody, Hrabovske, Velyka Pysarivka, Kucherivka, Bachivsk, Bila Bereza, Pokrovka, Malushyne, Zarutske, Shalyhine, Luhivka in Sumy oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire. Enemy aircraft also struck with guided aerial bombs in the vicinity of Velykyi Prykil, Petrushivka, Prokhody, Myropylske, Krasnopillia, Novodmytrivka, Uhroidy in Sumy oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers attacked the positions of the Defense Forces near Zahryzove.

Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out nine attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, Nove and in the vicinity of Olhivka. Three clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled eight assault actions of russian invaders. The enemy is trying to break through towards Predtechyne and west of Andriivka.

Towards Toretsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks of the invaders near Dachne and Toretsk.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 14 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of Kalynove, Yelizavetivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Novoserhiivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, Preobrazhenka, Sribne and Andriivka. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelling 10 enemy attacks, four clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy tried three times to break through the defenses of Ukrainina defenders in the vicinity of Konstantinopol and towards Shevchenko.

Towards Huliaipole, the settlement of Huliaipole was subjected to airstrikes.

Towards Kherson, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders three times, but was unsuccessful.

Towards Kharkiv, Siversk, Huliaipole and Orikhiv, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.

Towards Kursk, there were 13 clashes, two of which are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out 27 airstrikes, dropping 47 anti-aircraft missiles, and carried out 306 artillery attacks, including nine from multiple rocket launchers.

In the remaining directions, there were no significant changes.


The Air Force reported that on the night of April 12, russia attacked 88 UAVs.  Of these, 56 were shot down, another 24 were lost in the field.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, senior advisor to the President of Ukraine on strategic issues, informs that as part of the FrankenSAM program, Ukraine is capable of independently producing air defense systems. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

As of 4:00 pm, towards Kupiansk, the occupiers launched one attack on the Defense Forces’ positions near Zahryzove.

Towards Lyman, russian forces carried out nine assaults on Ukrainian positions. Three combat engagements are currently ongoing. They attacked, in particular, towards Olhivka.

Towards Kharkiv, there were no russian assaults were.

Earlier, towards Kharkiv, the enemy conducted three offensive actions in the vicinity of Kamianka and Zapadne.

Towards Kupiansk, there were seven russian attacks. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled assaults near Holubivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Zahryzove.

According to the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Grouping of Troops, towards Kharkiv, russian troops are replenishing their units and preparing to resume assault operations.

Shelling

The press service of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that two women and a man sustained blast injuries as a result of an airstrike on Kupiansk. A 52-year-old woman suffered from acute shock and received medical assistance on site. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, less than an hour before the guided aerial bomb strike, the city was reportedly shelled by russians using Uragan multiple rocket launchers.

Kharkiv Regional Emergency Service reported that a FAB-500 aerial bomb that failed to detonate despite being equipped with a fuse was found in Slatyne. The bomb was discovered in the ground near a residential area of the settlement. It was removed and transported for further disposal.

At around 18:20, russian forces dropped a glide bomb on a private house. Four people were injured in the attack: a 25-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, and two women aged 52 and 73. Preliminary reports suggest that three more people may still be trapped under the rubble.

According to the State Emergency Service, at 12:50, a drone strike ignited a fire in the private sector of Zolochiv. The blaze broke out in a summer kitchen, covering an area of 30 square meters. The residential building and other outbuildings were also damaged. Rescuers extinguished the fire.

At 6:40, the russian army dropped a glide bomb on Slatyne. Two people were injured, and one man was rescued from the rubble of a destroyed house by rescuers, his condition is stable. At least eight private houses were damaged as a result of the attack.

At 04:12, russian forces launched an attack on Kharkiv city. A Shahed-type UAV struck the ground, and two UAVs hit a civilian enterprise. One person was injured.

At 17:20, russian forces targeted Bohodukhiv region. One glide bomb hit an open area on the outskirts of Karaśivka village, and another KAB hit an open area on the outskirts of Duvanyvka village.

At 16:24, russian forces attacked Bohodukhiv region, Ivashky village. Two vehicles were damaged as a result of an FPV drone strike.

At 15:52, russian forces attacked Kupiansk. A series of three GABs hit the area, causing a fire in a single-story abandoned building with structural elements burning over 20 square meters and grass fires covering 100 square meters. Three garages were destroyed, and 10 others were damaged.

At 04:23, russian forces attacked Chuhuiv region, Khotymlia village. A drone dropped an unidentified explosive device, resulting in the ignition of a two-story private residential house.

At 08:57, russian aviation struck Bohodukhiv region with six KABs targeting the outskirts of Kalynove, Karasivka, and Sosnivka villages.

At 07:48, russian forces attacked Izium region, Borova village. The area caught fire after an attack, presumably with an MLRS, causing a pine litter fire over 3 square meters.

Other

Larysa Lozova is the only resident who continues to live in a dilapidated two-story house in Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv, which was hit by a russian drone on the night of April 4. The house, where the impact blew away the entrance and killed people, now has electricity and cold water, but no heating or gas.

Donetsk oblast

Front

According to the General Staff, towards Pokrovsk, the number of attacks decreased, while towards Lyman it increased. Towards Lyman, the russian army attacked 25 times, trying to advance near Nadiia, Hrekivka, Novyi, Katerynivka, Zelena Dolyna and Yampolivka.

Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped 40 assaults.

Shelling

The police recorded 3,531 shelling along the front line and residential sector.

The hits occurred in 11 settlements: the cities of Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Sloviansk, the village of Zarichne, the villages of Hryshyne, Zorya, Ivanopillia, Kamyanka, and Piddubne. 32 civilian objects were destroyed, including 12 residential buildings.

In Pokrovsk, russians killed a civilian, wounded another. An apartment building was damaged.

One person was injured in Hryshyn, Pokrovsk community, and one in Zarichne, Lyman community.

The enemy fired on Kostiantynivka with GAB-250 bombs and drones, one of which hit a civilian car – one person was injured. An educational institution, an administrative building, and 2 non-residential premises were damaged.

The occupiers dropped three GAB-250 bombs on Zoria, Illinivska community – damaging 2 apartment buildings and 12 garages.

russia struck Sloviansk with a Geran-2 drone – damaging an industrial facility. In Lyman, a private house was damaged as a result of shelling.

russian troops attacked Poddubne, Komarska community, with an UMPB D-30SN bomb – damaging 9 private houses.

In Rodynske, a private house, a hairdresser, and a civilian car were damaged.

Other

Activists of the Yellow Ribbon movement distributed over 100 posters in occupied Donetsk with the inscriptions “Donetsk is a Ukrainian city.”

Luhansk oblast

The invaders attacked 31 times towards Lyman and Siversk. Their assaults were repelled from Belohorivka. They also tried to advance near Hrekivka and Nadiya. The enemy had powerful artillery support, involving cannon and rocket artillery 17 times. He directed 248 UAVs towards our defenders.

The so-called “russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the lpr” assures that the creation of voluntary people’s militias will contribute to ensuring law and order in the front-line areas. That is, the people’s militias will counteract the disorder created there by russians on a free basis. The occupation authorities hope that the militias will be of significant assistance to the security forces, which cannot cope with the significant number of crimes and offenses committed in the indicated territories. Participants of the associations have the right to use stun guns, gas canisters and communication equipment. The approximate number for each settlement is 30 people.

In Severskodonetsk, the demonstration restoration of a number of high-rise buildings has been stopped. Some of them remain without roofs and windows, which were dismantled. The repair crews of one of the contractors, who had been engaged in the relevant work since the fall of 2022, have been dismissed.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The RMA reported that at night the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with UAVs. As a result of the enemy attack in Boryspil district, 9 private houses, outbuildings and two cars were damaged. Windows were smashed, facades and roofs were cut. One of the houses was partially destroyed.

As a result of the enemy attack on Kyiv, fragments of downed russian drones fell in two districts of the city. Three people were injured. In Sviatoshynskyi district, fires broke out in three warehouse buildings, on the territory of an industrial enterprise and another location. Also, fragments of a downed drone fell on a sports field and neighboring buildings. The glazing of windows and the facade of one of the buildings were damaged. In Darnytskyi district, a private house was destroyed in the suburbs.

KMVA reported that in a week russians killed one and wounded seven more residents of the capital. As a result of russian attacks during this period, 49 buildings of various types and 25 cars were damaged in Kyiv. The air alert was declared in Kyiv 13 times. The enemy attacked the capital using strike UAVs and ballistic missiles.

The Department of Municipal Security of Kyiv City State Administration reports that this year, the construction of 39 dual-purpose structures with protective properties of anti-radiation shelters is planned in Kyiv. 

Vyshhorod received assistance from Germany. Partners from Eichenau helped replenish the city’s technical park with new equipment and solar panels.

In Obukhiv, the municipal enterprise Obuhivraiyteplomerezha received a modern cogeneration unit from GIZ (Germany).

In Brovary, the public organization Brovary Community opened a free rental point for technical rehabilitation equipment.

Kyiv auto mechanic and volunteer Andrii Burakhovych has been repairing cars for the military at the capital’s service station Vsyudykhid for over 11 years. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the service station has processed over 20 thousand orders for the repair of equipment for the front. For his activities, the volunteer received the Varti award from Nova Poshta in 2025.

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the RMA, says that the number of victims of the russian drone attack on a high-rise building in Ozerne, Zhytomyr oblast, on April 10 has increased to six. One person died.

According to updated information, in Ozerne, after a russian drone hit a high-rise building, 96 apartments were damaged, five of them were destroyed, as reported by the village council. A special commission of the Novohuivinske village council is assessing the damage. At the moment, about 45 residents of the damaged apartments have applied for assistance through the eRecovery program. On April 11, municipal services and representatives of the Red Cross continued to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Sumy oblast

Sumy Oblast Police reported that the enemy attacked Krasnopillia by guided aerial bombs. As a result of the strikes, at least 10 private residential houses were damaged.

The Regional Military Administration informed that during the night, russian forces carried out a UAV strike on Sumy. Warehouse facilities and vehicles of one enterprise were damaged. There are no reported injuries or fatalities.

The enemy attacked Khotin community with a UAV. As a result of the strike, a private house and an outbuilding caught fire.

During the night and morning, russian forces carried out 67 shellings of border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast. There were 77 explosions. Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, and Shalyhyne communities came under fire.

During the night of 12 April, Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 5 enemy Shahed-type UAVs over Sumy oblast. Since the beginning of the year, air defence units in the oblast have eliminated 866 russian drones.

Throughout 11 April, russian forces carried out 91 shelling attacks in Sumy oblast, with a total of 196 strikes recorded. The enemy used mortars (45 explosions), MLRS (28 explosions), artillery (49 explosions), FPV-drones (27 explosions), launched guided aerial bombs (33 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (17 explosions). Eight communities came under enemy fire: Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda.

According to the Regional Military Administration, as a result of russian army strikes on Krasnopillia on 11 April, damage was sustained by an administrative building, a school, a bank, a shopping centre, a store, 20 private houses, and a five-storey building. The enemy shelled the community’s territory by artillery and mortars, carried out 12 FPV-drone strikes, and launched 27 guided aerial bombs.

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, stated that the number of settlements in Sumy oblast subject to evacuation has increased. These are settlements within 17 kilometers of the border, where, according to military information, intense enemy shelling may occur. According to him, a total of 199 settlements have been included in the evacuation plan. The population of settlements within the 5-kilometer zone has been almost completely evacuated. Forty-nine settlements have been placed under the management and control of the Armed Forces.

Over the past three months of this year, the largest evacuation measures have taken place in Krasnopillia, Myropillia, Yunakivka, and Khotin communities. Around 15,000 residents have been evacuated from these areas. Only 3-4% of residents remain, as they refuse to leave, but nearly 100% of the children from these communities have been evacuated.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that throughout 11 April, russian forces shelled two border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar strikes (5 explosions), barrel artillery strikes (5 explosions), unguided rocket strikes (5 explosions), FPV-drone strikes (12 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (26 explosions). Nine villages came under enemy fire.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that in the evening and at night, the Air Armed forces worked in the oblast. The defenders of the sky destroyed 17 enemy UAVs. As a result of the attack, private houses and a farm were damaged in Dnipro and Pavlohrad region. Also in the evening, the occupiers attacked Nikopol district with kamikaze drones. They targeted the region centre and Marhanets community. Synelnykove region was also attacked by drone. A power line was damaged.

In one day, the enemy attacked two districts of the region. They are Nikopol and Sinelnykivka. Almost a dozen kamikaze drones were launched in Nikopol region. They targeted the region centre, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. An educational institution, a private house and infrastructure were damaged. The occupants struck Novopavlivka community of Synelnykove region with multiple rocket launchers. An agricultural enterprise, 8 private houses and a power line were damaged. 

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported that the fragments of an enemy drone damaged an overhead power line in one of the villages of Novoukraika region.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, said that at night, defenders shot down 3 russian UAVs in Cherkasy oblast. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian military carried out a strike on Prymorske town. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged private houses. Preliminary, there were no casualties reported.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 11 April, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 4 russian attacks in Orikhiv region, with clashes occurring near Mali Shcherbaky village.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 12 April, the russian military launched 447 attacks on 12 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. In particular, there were 153 artillery strikes on Novoiakovlivka, Stepove, Lobkove, Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novodarivka and Charivne.

Based on the information provided by Berdiansk City Military Administration, 16 teenagers from temporarily occupied Berdiansk were issued russian passports during a “ceremony” timed to coincide with Cosmonautics Day. The event featured official speeches about “duty to the Motherland” and “glorifying russia”.

Mykolaiv oblast

Referring to the RMA, on the night of 12 April, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed 7 Shahed drones.

No shelling was recorded in the region on 11 April.

Odesa oblast

According to the Air Force of Ukraine, during the night of 12 April, UAVs were flying toward Odesa, and explosions were heard.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, informed that at around 4pm, the russian military attacked a car by a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. An explosive device was dropped on a volunteer vehicle belonging to the Spravzhni charity foundation. A 27-year-old man was killed. 2 others, aged 30 and 49, sustained concussions and shrapnel wounds.

Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson City Military Administration, reported that russian forces shelled Zelenivka. 2 private houses, a car and utility infrastructure were damaged.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, said that in Bilozirka, russian forces dropped an explosive device from a drone on an 86-year-old woman, who was killed.

In the morning, russian artillery struck a medical facility in Kherson oblast. The walls were damaged and windows shattered. There were no injuries reported among patients or medical staff, but 2 construction workers performing repairs at the hospital were wounded.

According to the RMA, russian artillery shelled Stepanivka village near Kherson. A 38-year-old man sustained blast injuries and back wounds and was hospitalised in moderate condition. Another man, aged 35, received a mine-blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his lower leg.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, stated that on 11 April, 8 people were injured in russian shelling across Kherson oblast. 8 apartment buildings, 6 private houses, a banking institution and a vehicle were damaged. A total of 23 settlements came under attack.

It was confirmed that a 60-year-old man was killed on 9 April as a result of russian shelling in Beryslav. He had sustained injuries incompatible with life.

According to the RMA, as a result of the 9 April shelling of Bilozirka, 2 people – a 79-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man – were injured. They sought medical help today. Both were hospitalised with mine-blast injuries and concussions.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Andrii Sobchuk, deputy of Pidhaitsivka village council, who has been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 3 years, received the For the Defense of Avdiivka medal. Andrii Sobchuk, Chief Sergeant, Platoon Commander of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade from Pidhaitsivska community, Lutsk region.

Zakarpattia oblast

A large-scale event took place in Uzhhorod – Uzhhorod Half Marathon 2025, which brought together over 700 participants from different parts of Ukraine and abroad. The event is charitable – all contributions from participants will be donated to support the 15th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion of the 128th brigade. For the defenders, they will provide Kvertus Kraken electronic warfare systems, U 2 drones, electronic warfare backpacks, an AUTEL Evo Max 4T unmanned aerial vehicle complex and a car worth over UAH 3.4m.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

A mother’s memory alley was planted in Ivano-Frankivsk. In the park of military veterans, mothers of fallen and missing defenders planted bushes in memory of their children Heroes. They began with a prayer for the defenders and the souls of all fallen Ukrainian soldiers.

Lviv oblast

A conference was held in Lviv within the framework of the Ukrainian-Dutch dialogue on supporting Ukraine’s integration into the European Union. Kaspar Veldkamp, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, ​​ Alle Dorhout, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine, Andrii Kostin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Serhii Kyslytsia, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and a number of other distinguished delegates arrived in the oblast on a working visit.

In Novorozdil community, educators from Tuzhanivska and Hranka-Kutivska schools, together with Father Damian Pankoviak, purchased a car for a fellow countryman from the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Bukovyna Brigade. In Novoiavorivsk, girls from the City of Good People Charity sold their own products, raising over UAH 2,000 for the military.

The Oberig Dobroty CF donated electronic warfare and radar of the Babai system to the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Taras Bobanych – for the amount of UAH 260,000. Strii City Council purchased and donated 151 Sich turnstiles for almost UAH 99,000.

Rivne oblast

2 more Security Classrooms for students have been opened in Rivne oblast. The new classrooms have started operating at Ivanivka Gymnasium, Pryvilna Village Council, Dubno Region, and at Velykozholudskyi Lyceum, Rafalivska Community. Currently, almost 130 Security Classrooms are already operating in the oblast.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil community, 14 soldiers will receive UAH 15,000 each for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of the year, such payments have been provided to 94 defense attorneys.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In Khmelnytskyi community, children have been granted the status of victims of armed conflicts and military operations. Currently, there are 1,145 children in the city with this status.

Chernivtsi oblast

In the 1st three months of 2025, UAH 15.2m was allocated from the regional and local budgets of Chernivtsi oblast to provide assistance to military units for vehicle repairs, the purchase of fuel and lubricants, metal protective structures of the type, video surveillance and security systems – according to the submitted applications.

The RMA reported that wounded soldiers undergoing rehabilitation in Bukovina went to Mount Tomnatyk as part of Mandrotherapy.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The “transport visa-free regime” between Ukraine and the EU has been extended until the end of 2025. Thus, Ukrainian road carriers will no longer need special permits.

The Pope handed over 4 ambulances from the Vatican to Ukraine. The vehicles are fully equipped with the necessary medical equipment to save lives. This is the cardinal’s 10th humanitarian mission to Ukraine.

On 9 April, 2025, in Brussels, during a meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Council, the Agreement on Ukraine’s participation in certain components of the European Union Space Program was officially signed.
