War in Ukraine today: latest news, 11 June, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 839 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The number of combat clashes increased to 87. As before, the most tense situation is towards Pokrovsk. The defense forces are giving a tough rebuff and holding back the enemy onslaught. 

Towards  Kharkiv, the russian invaders made another attempt to storm our positions – the battle continues near the village of Hlyboke. Four attacks have been repelled today in the area of Vovchansk and Hlyboke.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to storm the positions of the Defense Forces eight times. Five of them failed, and three assaults are still ongoing near the settlements of Pishchane, Berestove and Synkivka. The situation is under control. Ukrainian soldiers are actively destroying the enemy – as of now, the occupiers have lost 134 people wounded and killed in the direction. Four guns and four enemy cars were damaged. 

Towards Pokrovsk, 6 of the 19 battles are still ongoing. Russian invaders continue to put pressure on Ukrainian defenses near Novooleksandrivka. In the afternoon, the occupiers significantly intensified the combat work of their aircraft – they carried out five airstrikes in the vicinity of Vovche, Oleksandropil, Vozdvyzhenka, Yevhenivka and Zhelanne.

Towards Vremivka, russian terrorists do not stop trying to reduce Ukrainian defense potential, as well as to intimidate the civilian population. They carried out four airstrikes in the vicinity of Staromaiorske, Kostiantynivka, Blahodatne and Urozhaine.

Towards Orikhiv, the aggressor tried to move Ukrainian units from their positions and attacked six times. The enemy received a tough rebuff in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Shcherbaky, Novoprokopivka and Verbove.

In other areas, the situation has not changed significantly.

As of now, more than 67,000 women are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of which 19,000 are civilian employees, the rest are servicewomen. The increase in the number of women in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began intensively in 2014, 4 years after the amendments to the legislation, women received the right to hold any position in the Ukrainian army.

Serhii Holubtsov, Head of aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informs that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin testing Ukrainian-made KABs. Now work is also underway to re-equip and create their own corrected aerial bombs, based on conventional free-falling bombs. There are some design nuances, you need to choose a wing, a GPS module, as well as a control module. In a few weeks, the first test of the first Ukrainian bombs should begin.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff, the most active russian troops on the frontline are currently towards Kupiansk and Pokrovsk.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said at a briefing that US assistance has allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to slow down the russian offensive in Kharkiv oblast and to ensure that the defence line is firmly held.

Military photographer Arsen Fedosenko was critically injured in Kharkiv oblast. Serhii Klimov, owner of the Uwines portal, said that Arsen would be buried in Kyiv. He also said that at the Book Arsenal, the photographer and his colleagues were working on the project Stories of Those Who Chose to Fight.

The press service of the regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a 56-year-old woman was injured in the shelling of Kutkivka of Dvorichna community. According to the press service, russian troops attacked the village at around 8:20am.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that almost 700 recipients of housing compensation from Kharkiv oblast have used housing certificates under yeVidnovlennia.

Yesterday at 5:35pm, Kharkiv city, Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts were hit. One person was killed and 7 injured as a result of the shelling by the UAVs. 35 houses, 86 garages, 22 cars were damaged.

At 1:19am, Novopokrovka community, Chuhuiv regions, suffered. A man was killed and another man was injured as a result of a ballistic missile hitting the ground.

At 6:05pm, there was an enemy shelling of Bilyi Kolodiaz village, Chuhuiv region, which damaged the warehouse buildings of a civilian enterprise.

At 5:55pm, Staryi Saltiv village of Staryi Saltiv community, Chuhuiv region, was hit. A civilian car was on fire and a person was killed as a result of the shelling.

At 9:30am, Derhachi community, Kharkiv region, was shelled near Dementiivka village. One person was killed and three injured as a result of the shelling of the KAB. 

Towards Kharkiv, there were 4 unsuccessful enemy attacks near Vovchansk and Hlyboke. The Ukrainian military continues to take measures to strengthen defensive positions and borders.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to push our units from their positions near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane and Berestove but was unsuccessful.

No losses of positions and territories were allowed.

A total of 11,767 people have been evacuated from Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv regions since 10 May.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff, the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a russian attack aircraft towards Pokrovsk. They also destroyed an armoured combat vehicle, a cannon, four vehicles, and killed or injured 198 invaders.

Nazar Voloshyn, Spokesman of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, reported that russian troops did not capture Ivanivske towards Kramatorsk and did not advance deeper into Chasiv Yar. Ukrainian defence forces control these settlements.

Ukrainian troops destroyed a russian Tulip self-propelled artillery system near Ivanivske, and another near Pokrovske, fighters of the 10th Edelveis Brigade destroyed a russian RB-301B Borisoglebsk-2 multifunctional electronic warfare system.

Pavlo Diachenko, Acting Head of the communications department of the National Police in Donetsk oblast, informed that 6 people were injured in the attack on Kostiantynivka on 10 June. Serhii Horbunov,  Head of the CMA, confirmed that 4 residents are in hospital after being wounded in an airstrike on the night of 10 June in Kostiantynivka, their condition is light. One person refused to be hospitalised.

DTEK’s regional unit said that there is a partial power outage in Donetsk oblast due to shelling. For instance, part of Sloviansk is without electricity due to the night shelling, about 13,000 people are without electricity. Restoration work is ongoing. Serhii Horbunov added that there are problems with power supply in Kostiantynivka, where a transformer was damaged by an airstrike.

The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of 11 June is as follows:

Pokrovsk region. Zoriane and Yelyzavetivka of Marinka  community were shelled with artillery. In Kurakhove community, an enterprise in Novoselydivka was damaged, while Kurakhove, Kurakhivka, Hostre and Hirnyk were shelled. 2 people were injured in Pokrovsk. An enterprise in Halytsynivka of Novohrodivka community was damaged.

Kramatorsk region. Terny, Yampolivka and Zarichne of Lyman community were under attack. An industrial area was shelled in Mykolaivka community. In Kostiantynivka, 5 people were injured, 16 apartment buildings, 2 administrative buildings and 2 infrastructure facilities were damaged. A KAB bomb weighing 500kg fell near apartment buildings.

Bakhmut region. In Chasiv Yar community, 6 private houses and 2 high-rise buildings were damaged. In Toretsk, 4 buildings and an administrative building were damaged, and 1 more building was damaged in Shcherbynivka. 

During the day, the russians shelled the settlements of Donetsk oblast 15 times. 94 people, including 11 children, were evacuated from the front line.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, says that over the past day, russians killed 1 resident in Serhiivka. Another 9 people in the region were injured.

 Luhansk oblast

The liberated Nevske was shelled from aircraft. Also, the village, where people still remain, was shelled with mortars and artillery – barrel and rocket. 

The enemy fired mortars at Stelmakhivka, Kuzemivka, and Makiivka. 

The enemy directed six guided aerial bombs at Serebrianka forest.

Towards Kupiansk, the invaders attacked with the support of aviation. The defense forces repelled eight attacks there. 

According to preliminary data, the occupiers’ losses amounted to 62 people killed and wounded. Three tanks, one armoured fighting vehicle and a car were destroyed. 

Towards Lyman, the enemy tried to advance in the vicinity of Nevske, Hrekivka, in Serebrianka forest.

Artem Lysohor, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, says that covert mobilization continues in the occupied territories. In particular, new employees, men aged 18 to 55, are constantly being recruited into the so-called ‘Ministry of Internal Affairs of lpr’. Legal education is not always necessary. 

Since the beginning of the year, fires have destroyed almost 7 thousand hectares of forests of the so-called “lpr”. During this time, there were 176 cases of fire. In some places, residential areas located near forests were occupied.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Mayor Vadym Tokar announced that reconstruction began in Makariv’s children’s library. The building was damaged during the full-scale invasion of Kyiv oblast. According to him, the renovated library will become a cultural and educational centre for local children.

The Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine reports that the Third Ukrainian-Polish Forum on Reconstruction of Ukraine is scheduled in Kyiv in June. So far, more than 80 Polish investors have registered to attend the event.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, informed that the oblast topped the rating of economic stability of oblasts published by the Business Capital publication. The rating covers 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. The data was analysed in 4 crucial areas of economic life: agricultural production, exports of goods, commissioning of residential buildings and non-residential buildings. According to him, almost 17,500 facilities have been restored in the region, comfortable conditions for business development are being created, and the amount of taxes and fees paid by entrepreneurs is growing.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian Women’s Guard held a health rehabilitation class called Relax for the Body at Borodianka Health Care Centre. It was dedicated to the physical recovery of women who survived the occupation and found themselves in difficult life circumstances. Through specially designed physical activities, participants had the opportunity to receive support and find new strength for life.

On 9 June, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard held a course on self-defence and survival in crisis situations for women in Kyiv. The aim of the event is to teach women self-defence techniques, social cohesion, support and assistance during the war. The next class will take place on 23 June.

The festival starts on 15 June.The organisers have already announced the programme for the first day.

A revived print version of Evening Kyiv was presented in the capital city. Media during the war became the main topic of its first issue. The printed version was produced by the editorial board of the Faculty of Journalism and published by the National Publishing Centre of Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the SSU, another attempt by the FSB to obtain relevant data on the deployment of Ukrainian defenders in Odesa and Zhytomyr oblasts was foiled. The russian intelligence service employed an agent to obtain information on higher military educational institutions, redeployment of personnel, and locations of medical facilities where members of the Defence Forces are treated.The informant was detained when he was conducting additional reconnaissance in Zhytomyr.

A unique space called Time for Yourself was opened in Brusyliv to help community members take care of their physical and mental health.This initiative was implemented as part of the USAID Building a Resilient Public Health System project.

As part of the Inclusive Rehabilitation Services project implemented with the support of the USAID HOVERLA Project, representatives of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine held an introductory meeting with representatives of Zviahel territorial community. They discussed problematic issues related to rehabilitation services in the territorial community, and conducted an in-depth interview with representatives of the Assembly.

Sumy oblast

 At night and in the morning, russian forces attacked border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast 6 times.  According to the regional military administration, there were 16 mortar and artillery attacks, including a kamikaze drone attack and the dropping of 2 explosive devices from an enemy UAV. Khotyn, Lebedyn, Bilopillya, Krasnopillya and Esman communities were shelled.

Over the past day, 28 shelling on Sumy oblast were recorded and 93 attacks from various types of weapons. Eight border communities came under fire: Mykolayivka, Khotyn, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Esman, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, and Znob-Novhorodske.

On 10 June, one of the russian artillery shells hit a kindergarten in Krasnopillia. As a result, windows were smashed, a gas pipe and power lines were damaged. The kindergarten provided distance education.

Over the past week, 1 multi-storey building in Konotop and 6 private houses in Druzhba were restored in Sumy oblast. The enemy continues to destroy the infrastructure of Sumy oblast.

Over the past week, russian forces fired 200 times on the territory of the oblast with artillery, mortars, FPV drones, and dropping of explosives from UAVs. 

Khotyn, Lebedyn, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia and Esman communities were shelled.

 

They also launched a missile attack. Hostile shelling damaged 22 buildings and residential structures, including 6 private homes.

Since the beginning of the year, 12 combatants and their families have received grants to develop their own businesses worth UAH 5.5m. During this period, 48 veterans were employed. Vocational education institutions of the State Employment Service provided training for 101 combatants and 7 people with war-related disabilities. 

Chernihiv oblast

Over the past day, russian troops struck in the vicinity of 7 border settlements in Chernihiv oblast. According to the State Border Guard Service, there were 88 explosions, including mortar, cannon and rocket artillery attacks. Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk communities were under fire. 

In 2024, 10 art therapy rooms will be set up in the Mena, Kholmy and Koryukivka communities, where local psychologists and teachers will hold meetings and classes.The main goal of the project, which is being implemented as part of the CLEAR programme, is to help children and parents from war-affected communities overcome emotional and psychological consequences of their experiences. Since 2022, such art rooms have been set up in Ivanivka, Sosnytsia and part of Koriukivka communities, and have provided psychological support to more than 1,000 children and adults.

According to the RMA, Ivanivka outpatient clinic of general family medicine and Desnianka Primary Healthcare Centre received new cars. The vehicles were purchased as part of the HEAL UKRAINE project implemented jointly with the World Bank.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 3 times, hitting the region’s center with artillery and Marhanets community with a kamikaze drone. In Nikopol, 3 private houses and an outbuilding were damaged. In the morning, the enemy attacked Nikopol again, launching 6 kamikaze drones. An infrastructure facility was damaged, but the consequences of the attacks are still being clarified. 

Two enemy missiles were shot down by the defenders of the sky in Dnipro region.

There were about fifteen attacks in Nikopol region. The occupiers shelled the region’s center and Pokrovsk community. Artillery and kamikaze drones were used. In Nikopol, an 87-year-old woman was injured in the morning shelling. One woman was hospitalized in moderate condition. A multi-storey building, 26 private houses, 14 outbuildings were damaged, and another was destroyed. A medical center, an infrastructure facility, a tractor, 4 greenhouses, a power line, and a solar panel were hit. A 37-year-old woman in her last month of pregnancy suffered an acute stress reaction due to the fall of rocket fragments in Dnipro region. She refused to be hospitalized. 3 residential buildings, an outbuilding and a solar panel were damaged. There was also a fire, but it was successfully extinguished by rescuers. It was also loud in Kryvyi Rih. A gas station in the Zelenodolsk community was hit by a drone. As a result, the equipment caught fire. The fire was extinguished

Vinnytsia oblast

Kirovohrad oblast

Soldiers Vadym Zhovtetskyi from Svitlovodsk community, Serhii Zaitsev from Bobrynets community, Oleksandr Kyrylenko from Ketrysaniv community, Oleksandr Oka and  Anton Dolganenko from Pomichna community in Kirovohrad oblast were killed in russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Poltava oblast

17 tons of yoghourt, desserts, and biscuits were brought to Poltava by representatives of the Johanniter Humanitarian Mission from Germany. This is humanitarian aid for military families, IDPs and low-income people.

Cherkasy oblast

Natalia Lomovytska, an internally displaced person from Luhansk oblast, sews uniforms for Ukrainian defenders. Due to the outbreak of a full-scale war in 2022, she was forced to move to Cherkasy, where she found a second home and a new job at a company that was also relocated to protect her from occupation.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on 10 June, the occupiers struck Zaporizhzhia oblast 548 times, injuring 3 people.

10 settlements came under enemy attack, with the enemy launching 5 airstrikes on 10 settlements in the oblast.

220 drones of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Robotyne, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 22 MLRS strikes hit Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka and Malynivka. 301 artillery strikes targeted Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne, Malynivka, Novodanilivka and Stepnohirsk.

As a result of the shelling, residential houses, garage facilities and farm buildings were destroyed. During a russian airstrike on Tsvitkove village in Vozdvyzhivka community, 1 man and 2 women were injured. They were hospitalised.

Berdiansk Border Detachment reported that border guards destroyed 6 russian drones in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupiers used these drones to try and attack Ukrainian positions.

Southern Defence Forces reported that towards Orikhiv, the occupiers attempted 6 unsuccessful assaults. On the left bank of the Dnipro river in temporarily occupied Kherson, the enemy conducted 2 unsuccessful assaults near Krynky village, suffering losses and retreating to their initial positions.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Mykolaiv RMA, on 10 June, enemy artillery struck various settlements in Mykolaiv oblast, and a missile strike caused fires and destroyed buildings.

On 10 June, at 7:13am, enemy artillery shelling hit Dmytrivka village in Kutsurub community, causing a fire on a farm, which was promptly extinguished. An outbuilding building was damaged.

At 3:30pm, there was artillery shelling in the waters of Ochakiv community.

At 6:49pm, a missile strike hit Horokhiv community, igniting a fire in an outbuilding building and dry grass, which was quickly extinguished. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged 4 private households and 1 car. There were no casualties reported.

According to the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District, during a scheduled inspection of Shevchenkove territorial community in Mykolaiv oblast, it was found that several community cultural centres were damaged by shelling. The land was contaminated with construction debris, causing an estimated damage of nearly UAH 229m.

Yurii Lytvyn, Head of the Seaports Administration of Ukraine, stated during the Agro-Ukraine Summit 2024 that Mykolaiv ports are fully ready to resume operations. The personnel are on-site and maintaining the facilities. However, the military has not yet permitted the ports to restart operations due to safety concerns.

Odesa oblast

NATO is developing multiple land corridors to direct American forces and weapons to the front lines in case of a major ground war with russia. These new logistical routes could help repel a potential enemy attack if there is an advance on Odesa. Existing NATO plans involve American forces landing at Dutch ports before boarding trains that transport them through Germany and then to Poland. Similar plans exist for transporting forces from Turkish and Greek ports through Bulgaria and Romania to reach the alliance’s eastern flank.

Stories of the Strong were presented at the UNION Cultural Centre in Odesa. The book is a collection of memories from people who were under the russian occupation, survived captivity, witnessed the terror of war firsthand, and lived through it. Odesa was deliberately chosen for this presentation because, according to the organisers, the city symbolises life despite the war.

An international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine is being held in Berlin. Among other communities, Odesa oblast is represented at the event with projects that can address several problems in the oblast. The conference in Berlin is taking place on 11 and 12 June, with the participation of Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and Head of Odesa RMA, Oleh Kiper.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that on 10 June, 14 settlements in Kherson oblast were under enemy attack, including Tokarivka, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Sadove, Mykhailivka, Beryslav, Vesele, Stanislav, Novotiahynka, Kizomys, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Respublikanets and Kherson. 

Occupation forces hit residential areas, damaging 2 apartment buildings and 15 private houses. Critical infrastructure, educational institutions and a vehicle were also struck. 1 person was injured.

Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson CMA, informed that on 11 June, russian military struck Kherson centre. The occupiers damaged residential buildings and cars. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties from the enemy shelling.

Kherson RMA reported that on 11 June, russian forces attacked Novovorontsovka village in Kherson oblast. An FPV drone strike damaged a police car and other parked vehicles, shattering windows in nearby buildings. No injuries or casualties were reported.

Volunteers from the NGO Free and Faithful and the Ronald McDonald House Foundation delivered another batch of humanitarian aid for more than 500 Ukrainian families from the southern regions, including Kherson.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

A scientific conference Volyn in Modern Wars (1914–2024) will be held. In particular, the problematic field of the conference will be military operations, military units formed in Volyn, Volynians as participants in hostilities, interethnic relations in the conditions of wars, evacuation, refugees, deportations, emigration of the population and other issues.

Utilities and enterprises of Lutsk were provided with alternative power sources, i.e. gasoline and diesel generators – this is a preparation for power outages in winter. The community also equipped more than 60 heating points with potbelly stoves, heat guns and compact diesel generators.

A photo exhibition dedicated to Belarusian volunteers who died in the fight against russian aggression since 2014 was exhibited in Lutsk. The exhibition presented 22 photo stands with portraits of the military.

Zakarpattia oblast

Educators from Yasini took part in training to prepare citizens for national resistance. They conducted theoretical and practical classes on preparation for actions in case of emergencies, practical firing from automatic weapons and fire training exercises. Also, the students of the course performed tasks on topographic training, orientation on the terrain, communication, response to threats of fire contact, tactical medicine and evacuation of the wounded from the area of contact with an imaginary enemy and much more.

Mukachevo border guards donated more than 22 liters of blood in a few days at St. Martin’s Hospital for military and civilians. 

Berehovo community paid tribute to the fallen defender Fedir Yanchyk. The Marine Corps grenade launcher operator heroically died in the battles for the Motherland in Kherson oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, defenders of Ukraine were awarded with awards. Four servicemen were awarded medals For Merit to Prykarpattia and awards from the RMA.

In Prykarpattia, due to significant destruction caused by shelling by russian troops, the operation of Burshtyn TPP was under threat in winter. The community begins to build boiler houses. This was announced during a meeting in the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration by Burshtyn Mayor Vasyl Andrieshyn.

A resident of Prykarpattia organized a charity race with flags in Norway. The distance was symbolic – 3.2 kilometers. The main condition was to come with the flag of Ukraine or in national symbols. Not only Ukrainians, but also foreigners came to support the race.

In Prykarpattia, the Summer School of Life Safety for Children was launched in Dubovetska Territorial Community. Almost three hundred children from 7 to 16 years old will relax and learn the basics of rescue.

Prykarpattia lost three defenders in the war at once. In Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, servicemen from Halych, Horodenka and Kuty communities were killed, in Ivano-Frankivsk region – Andrii Sokolnyk, Volodymyr Karatnyk, Yurii Dodyak.

Lviv oblast

Servicemen from Lviv oblast received 5 more FPV drones from singer and musician Oleh Shumei (SHUMEI). They were transferred to the RMA for the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade. 

In three more lyceums in Lviv oblast, safety classrooms have been launched. Children will learn how to provide first aid, behave in emergency situations and get acquainted with the work of rescuers, law enforcement officers, doctors and the military. Dummies of explosive objects, equipment for providing first aid, and fire extinguishing equipment will help them in this. Modern information stands, instructions, game elements and printing products for them were developed by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine together with UNICEF Ukraine.

Soldiers, veterans and their relatives made a mass ascent of Mount Makivka. 48 people took part in the ascent. This is the largest number since the beginning of the Journey Therapy project. This mountain was chosen because from April 29 to May 4, 1915, fierce battles between the legion of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen and the russian troops of General Alftan took place here.

Rivne oblast

In Rivne, on the Alley of Heroes, monuments of a single sample will be erected. The design was chosen by the relatives of the victims, who stopped at Cossack crosses made of dark granite with a greenish tint.

Classes for IDPs and pensioners on working with a smartphone or computer will be held in Tuchyn.

Three fallen soldiers from Demydiv community were awarded state awards. Posthumous awards were received by Dmytro Yaremchuk, Mykhailo Sheremeta, and Oleksandr Petruk. 

Another 14 children and their parents left the frontline communities of Donetsk oblast for Rivne oblast. Evacuated families are receiving assistance.

Businessmen of Rivne oblast can take out a loan for solar and gas reciprocating power plants, electric generators, uninterruptible power supplies and solid fuel boilers.

Ternopil oblast

Military personnel and war veterans can receive free dental prosthetics at the dental department of Ternopil Medical University. This service has been available since April, 2024. 10 people received prosthetics in the past month.

An event called Blood Donation Week has been launched in Ternopil from June 10 to 14 on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. The campaign aims to raise citizens’ awareness about the blood donation process and to help create reserves of blood and its components during the war against russia, which are needed daily by doctors to save civilian patients and wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A well-known Ternopil artist, 36-year-old Artur Snitkus, was killed on the front line in Donetsk oblast.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Students in Khmelnytskyi community raised over 2 million UAH to purchase FVP drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thanks to their initiative 214 drones being deployed to the front lines. Students from more than 50 educational institutions participated in this fundraising effort organized by the charity fund “Volunteers of Podillia.”

Residents of Shepetivka, Letychiv, and Teofipol regions bid farewell to Ukrainian defenders. The residents of Krupets community said their goodbyes to Oleksandr Shpak. Yurii Kostyukov was laid to rest in Letychiv region. Ivan Hnativ returned “on his shield” to the village of Havrylivka in Teofipol region.

Six fallen soldiers from Khmelnytska oblast were posthumously awarded state honors. These awards were presented to the families of the deceased by Khmelnytskyi Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support and local authorities.

Chernivtsi oblast

Bukovyna allocated almost 105.1 million UAH to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the past 5 months. Additionally, nearly 4 million UAH was spent to ensure the operation of security and defense forces in the region. This financial support was provided directly to military units and used to purchase essential items requested by them, including UAVs, drones, electronic warfare systems, quadcopters and batteries for them, inverter generators, communication equipment, and components for military and computer technology, as well as fuel and lubricants and vehicle repair services. A total of 13.1 million UAH was allocated to servicemen wounded during military missions and to the families of fallen soldiers. Another 14.5 million UAH was designated for supporting the children of military personnel.

A rehabilitation center for defenders has being built on the premises of Chernivtsi Regional Hospital for War Veterans. 30 million UAH were allocated from the regional budget for this project, with an additional 3.1 million UAH from the budgets of territorial communities.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The International Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine has started in Berlin. Its goal is to create international alliances for economic and social assistance to the country. More than 2 thousand politicians, diplomats, representatives of business, municipalities, civil society from different countries are taking part in the two-day event. It was the involvement of civil society and the role of ties between cities, communities, and municipalities that the host country, Germany, emphasized.

The United States is providing $824m to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. This was stated by US Special Representative for Economic Recovery of Ukraine Penny Pritzker. And she recalled that in the past 45 days alone, the United States has allocated $2b for the supply of military equipment to Ukraine. 

Italy will allocate €140 million for the development of Ukrainian infrastructure, and is also preparing a new package of military aid for Ukraine with the strengthening of air defense. This was announced by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, states that Ukraine has fulfilled all the conditions necessary to start negotiations on joining the European Union, so the EU should start these negotiations by the end of June. She noted that this contrast between the actions of the parties is most striking in Kharkiv.  She drew attention to the fact that this is the first time that a conference on the recovery of Ukraine has been held within the EU. “And this is where your country belongs. Kharkiv is Europe. Ukraine is Europe. And our Union is your home,” said the head of the European Commission, adding that the EU is sending 1000 generators to Ukraine. In addition, she said that the European Union would allocate EUR 1.9 billion in support to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility program in June.

Estonia has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. Tallinn will hand over Mistral short-range anti-aircraft missile systems and shells for them. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the country. The department emphasized that they will not indicate the number of air defense systems transferred to Ukraine for security reasons.

Olaf Scholz said that Germany will soon hand over a new batch of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) – the third Patriot air defense system, new IRIS-T air defense systems, Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled howitzers, missiles and ammunition. 

Following the talks, the heads of the parliaments of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine adopted a joint declaration in which they pledge to continue security cooperation, support Ukraine’s path to NATO and EU membership, and called for the lifting of restrictions on the supply of Western weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with speakers of the parliaments.
