Today, the communities of the settlements of Zarichchia in the Chernihiv region; Bezzalivka, Volfyne, Studenok, Malushyne, and Ryzhivka in the Sumy region suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Northern-Sloboda and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out one air strike, dropping one guided aerial bomb, and conducted 50 attacks, including one using a multiple launch rocket system.
In the Southern-Sloboda direction, the Defense Forces repelled one enemy attack near Prylipka.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army launched eight attacks on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Novyi Myr, Myrne, and in the direction of Stavky and Drobysheve. Five combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Russian forces attempted five times to advance toward the positions of our troops near Yampil and Serebrianka. The Defense Forces have already stopped three enemy attacks; fighting continues.
In the Kramatorsk direction, one combat engagement is currently underway near Chasiv Yar.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy attempted nine times to breach our defense near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian occupiers made 19 attempts to dislodge our troops from their positions near Ivanivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Hryshyne, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Novopidhorodne. The Defense Forces are holding back the pressure and have already repelled 16 attacks.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 assault actions by enemy forces. The enemy is trying to advance near Zelenyi Hai, Yalta, Vorone, Vyshneve, Rybne, Yehorivka, and toward Danylivka; four combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, eight combat engagements occurred near Zatyshshia, Huliaipole, and Bilohiria. Two engagements are currently ongoing.
In the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi directions, no combat engagements have been recorded at this time.
95% of all Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) services have been moved online. Nearly one million deferments have been extended online, and reducing the load on TRCs has allowed more focus on the mobilization process. Recent months show that mobilization has become significantly more efficient than before. This was reported by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
The Government has supported the establishment of a scholarship in memory of defenders who died fighting for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity. From now on, 30 such scholarships will be awarded to cadets, trainees, and postgraduate students of military universities under the Ministry of Defense.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
In the Southern-Slobozhanske direction, the Defense Forces repelled one Russian attack near Prylipka, while in the Lyman direction Russian forces attacked positions near Novyi Myr. In the Kupiansk direction, there were no attacks, the General Staff reported.
During the past day, 139 combat engagements were recorded.
In the Southern-Slobozhanske direction, eight combat engagements took place in the areas of Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Odradne, and Dovhenke.
In the Kupiansk direction, four enemy attacks were recorded during the day. The Defense Forces repelled assault actions toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane.
Russia struck Zolochiv with a drone at around 15:00 — a private house, outbuildings, and power lines were damaged. There were no casualties, reported the head of the community, Viktor Kovalenko.
During the past day, eight settlements in the Kharkiv region came under enemy fire.
As a result of the shelling, three people were injured.
In Kivsharivka (Kupiansk community), a 77-year-old woman was injured; in Kurylivka, a 62-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman were injured.
Medical aid was also provided to a 66-year-old man who was injured in the shelling of Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi (Kupiansk community) on 7 December.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons against the Kharkiv region:

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:
▪️ In the Bohodukhiv district — a private house, outbuildings, and power lines (Odnorobivka); two private homes, outbuildings, power lines (Baranivka); a car (Klynova Novoselivka).
▪️ In the Kupiansk district — a private house (Kurylivka), an apartment building (Kivsharivka).
▪️ In the Chuhuiv district — a recreation facility and a tractor (Martove).
The transit evacuation center in Lozova received 75 people during the past day. 12 people remain. Since opening, the center has registered 14,382 people.
Evacuation efforts continue in the Kupiansk and Izium districts — around 50 people are evacuated daily. As of today, more than 1,200 people remain in the entire Kupiansk community, and about 800 in the Borivska community.
Donetsk oblast
At a certain stage of the autumn defense, there were no Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk, but by mid-November, the Defense Forces managed to take part of the city under control and also cleared territory west of Pokrovsk, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated. Russian forces increased their grouping on the Pokrovsk direction to 156,000 troops, but Ukrainian units are also reinforcing their positions within Pokrovsk.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces are able to supply ammunition, food, and necessary equipment to the troops holding positions in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Logistics are carried out on foot, or using drones and ground robotic systems, explained Valerii, callsign “Archeologist,” a soldier of the 25th Airborne Brigade.
On the Oleksandrivka direction, which runs through the western part of Donetsk region, the Russian army conducted 17 assaults during the past day. The Defense Forces repelled attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Verbove, Rybne, Krasnohirsk, and Vyshneve, according to the morning briefing of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The most intense fighting of the day occurred on the Pokrovsk sector — 43 assaults.
During an operation near the villages of Sukhyi Yar and Lysivka on the Pokrovsk front, all units were moved to more advantageous positions. The maneuver was planned and organized, said spokesperson Serhii Okishev of the 7th Corps.
Logistical routes to Myrnohrad in Donetsk remain under Russian fire and drone control. The Defense Forces are trying to expand the corridor to the city and are holding positions; Ukrainian troops have not received any orders to withdraw, said 7th Corps officer of the Airborne Forces Serhii Okishev. On the evening of 8 December, the analytical project “Deep State” updated its interactive map of the Russian-Ukrainian war, marking the “gray zone” where Russian assault groups were recorded, covering part of the territory north of Myrnohrad.
Special Operations Forces struck a warehouse of Russian army reconnaissance drones in temporarily occupied Donetsk on the night of 8 December. FP-2 drones also targeted a Russian fuel base in Simeykine, Luhansk, burning approximately 6 million liters of fuel.
In Kostiantynivka, a civilian was injured by a Russian FPV drone attack, reported MBA head Horbunov. No damage to houses or infrastructure was recorded from the strike.
On 8 December, Russian troops carried out 1,893 strikes along the front line and on residential areas.
Eleven settlements were under fire: Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk, the settlement of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, and the villages of Nekremenne, Ocheretyne, Serhiivka, Sofiino-Lyman.
44 civilian objects were damaged, including 27 residential buildings.
In Druzhkivka, Russians used 7 UAVs of various types — killing one civilian and injuring five others. Damage was reported to an apartment building, an administrative building, and four civilian vehicles.
In Kostiantynivka, Russia struck with air-dropped bombs, artillery, and drones — two people were killed, six injured, including two children: a boy born in 2012 and a girl born in 2018. Five apartment buildings were damaged.
In Kramatorsk, four people were injured, including two children. The city was attacked seven times using a guided aerial bomb and UAVs. Nine apartment buildings, a shop, and a café were damaged.
The village of Serhiivka in Andriivka community was shelled with two Geran-2 and Geran-3 UAVs — one person injured, damage to one apartment building, two private houses, a church, a medical clinic, and an office.
As a result of Molniya-2 drone strikes, a private house in Sloviansk was damaged; in Mykolaivka, an apartment building and administrative building were damaged. In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, two residential buildings were damaged.
Oleksandrivka community: In Sofiino-Lyman, two private houses were damaged; in Nekremenne — a private home; in Ocheretyne — a civilian truck.
Additionally, information was confirmed for 7 December: in Druzhkivka, two people were killed in a civilian car hit by an FPV drone, and one person was injured in Lyman.
During the attack on Sloviansk on 4 December, the building and vehicles of Doctors Without Borders, as well as a Cadus vehicle, were damaged. No volunteers were injured, the charity organization reported.
In front-line Druzhkivka, about 20,000 people remain, while around 2,000 residents left the city over the past month. The city is approximately 15 km from the front line, under regular shelling, with disruptions to electricity, water, and heating, no gas supply, and four points of resilience operating. Despite the danger, some residents refuse to evacuate due to lack of resources and destinations.
On 8 December, due to deteriorating security and unstable energy supply in Donetsk, the last DTEK mine — Bilozerka, which employed over 1,000 people, suspended operations. DTEK Energy and Mykhailo Volynets, head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine, reported that the enterprise is without power, with gas hazards and flooding ongoing, dewatering pumps stopped, and no personnel allowed underground. Coal production had stopped in September after shelling. DTEK’s investments in mines in the first half of 2025 amounted to UAH 2.9 billion, and the company stated it is ready to consider resuming operations once the situation stabilizes.
Luhansk oblast
Over the past day, Russian troops carried out 17 assault actions in the Lyman and Sloviansk directions, including attempts to advance from the direction of Novovodyane. Fighting took place near 10 settlements, and the enemy fired artillery 18 times and used more than 20 UAVs and FPV drones.
The occupation authorities have announced plans to restore the pipe factory in Rubizhne with the participation of “investors”; however, the enterprise is effectively destroyed, and similar announcements in the past have not led to any practical results.
In Sievierodonetsk, in one of the apartment buildings, the heating system has been formally connected for three years, but in reality it requires major repairs. As a result, residents are unable to use the preferential electricity tariff, and the start of restoration has been promised only for autumn 2026.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Currently, about four stages of power cuts are in effect in Kyiv oblast. According to the head of the Regional State Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, the oblast plans to quickly switch to at least three. According to him, large businesses are already switching to alternative power sources, actively importing electricity and effectively reducing the load on the oblast’s grid. Co-generation, which makes it possible to produce electricity and heat simultaneously, is one of the key tools for stabilising the power system.
A specialised youth military-patriotic training programme called ‘Warrior-Werewolf’ was held in Kyiv oblast on the occasion of Ukrainian Armed Forces Day. The event brought together young people from the oblast for three days of intensive and practical training. The training programme included a series of lectures, practical classes and training modules.
The Boyarka community has joined a new project called ‘Veterans’ Voices: Taking Needs into Account in Community Strategies’. Its goal is to help communities better integrate the needs of veterans into local development strategies. The project involves analytical work, focus groups, and the involvement of veterans themselves in the formation of management decisions.
Belgium is allocating approximately 5 million hryvnias for the development of a rehabilitation system in the Bila Tserkva community. With the support of Enabel, the Patients of Ukraine Charitable Foundation, as part of the TRUE – Trauma Rehabilitation for Ukraine initiative, together with the Protez Hub Charitable Foundation, is launching support for the development of a patient-oriented and capable rehabilitation ecosystem in the community.
According to the Media Centre of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the premiere of a documentary film about the stormtroopers who were the first to enter Kursk took place in Kyiv. The film was presented at the Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II on Armed Forces Day on 6 December, and at the same time, the project was released on the YouTube channel ‘Defenders of Independence’.
.Zhytomyr oblast
The Capital Construction Department of the Zhytomyr City Council reported that the Zhytomyr authorities are submitting documents to participate in the Cabinet of Ministers’ programme for the construction of multi-apartment buildings with rental housing for internally displaced persons and military personnel. The plans include the construction of four multi-apartment buildings with 5-7-9 floors and shelters. There will be a total of 216 apartments.
Sumy oblast
On the morning of 9 December the General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, one combat engagement was recorded over the past day. Enemy forces conducted an airstrike, dropping three guided aerial bombs, and carried out 151 attacks, including three by multiple-launch rocket systems.
The Regional Military Administration informed that two civilians were killed on 9 December after russian drones struck civilian vehicles in border areas of Sumy region. In Myropillia community, a 73-year-old man was killed. In Krasnopillia community, two people were injured: a 61-year-old man died from his injuries and a wounded female passenger was hospitalised.
According to the Regional Military Administration, on the evening of 8 December, russia launched a massive strike on the energy infrastructure of Sumy oblast. Parts of Sumy and Sumy region were left without electricity. An emergency energy headquarters has been operating since the evening. Energy workers, municipal crews and emergency services are working in reinforced mode. Critical infrastructure is running on backup power. “Invincibility Points” have been deployed.
The City Military Administration reported that on the evening of 8 December, Sumy came under a large-scale russian attack. Around fifteen explosions were heard. The attack damaged the power system.
The Regional Military Administration informed that since the night of 8 December, emergency response has been ongoing in Okhtyrka following the russian strike on a nine-storey apartment building. Eight people were injured, three of whom are in hospital. The building sustained extensive destruction: several flats burned out, one car was destroyed and five more were damaged, around 200 windows were shattered and more than 100 balconies damaged. Surrounding buildings — a kindergarten, a hospital and private houses — were also affected. A response coordination headquarters is operating at the site.

Between the morning of 8 December and the morning of 9 December, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 38 settlements in 20 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Konotop regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (up to 10 strikes) and UAVs (30 strikes), and also conducted FPV-drone attacks. Over the day, the air-raid alert in the oblast lasted 18 hours 58 minutes.
Consequences of russian attacks on Sumy oblast as of the morning of 9 December:
- In Sumy community, a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were injured in a russian FPV-drone attack. A civilian infrastructure facility, two shops, a private household, a non-residential building and a car were damaged;
- In Popivka community, an outbuilding was damaged;
- In Richky community, two private households and an outbuilding were damaged;
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, private residential houses were damaged;
- In Esman community, a private residential house was destroyed and other private houses were damaged;
- In Hlukhiv community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Shalyhyne community, a private residential house was destroyed;
- In Bereza community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Over the day, five people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and local NGOs.
Five cultural heritage sites in Sumy oblast have been granted enhanced international protection by UNESCO. They include:
– the L.Ye. Koenig Estate (Palace), Trostianets;
– Movchanskyi Monastery, Putyvl;
– Voskresenska Church, Sumy;
– Transfiguration Cathedral, Sumy;
– Trinity Cathedral, Sumy.
Under the Hague Convention, violation of their “immunity” is considered a serious international crime and entails dual responsibility — both for states and individuals.
Chernihiv oblast
The State Emergency Service in Chernihiv oblast reported that throughout 8 December, russian forces attacked a farming enterprise in Koriukivka region and an industrial facility in Nizhyn region by UAVs. Fires broke out at the impact sites. At the farm in Koriukivka region, straw stacks covering an area of about 1,800 square metres caught fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that a russian UAV struck a starosta’s office building in one of the settlements of Mena community on 8 December.
During the day on 8 December, a residential house in Chernihiv was damaged when a UAV fell. The drone’s warhead did not detonate.
A Molniia UAV attacked a forestry facility in Novhorod-Siverskyi region, igniting an administrative building, storage premises and a fuel station.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv RMA, informed that the enemy carried out at least seven strikes on a critical infrastructure facility in a village in Nizhyn region on 8 December. Another settlement sustained two strikes. Fires at both sites were extinguished.

A 50-kilogramme unexploded warhead was found in a private yard in Chernihiv where a russian strike drone fell on 8 December. Police explosive technicians neutralised it.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, throughout 8 December, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (3 explosions), tube artillery strikes (4 explosions) and multiple-launch rocket system attacks (38 explosions), and conducted strikes by Molniia-type UAVs (3 explosions), FPV drones (18 explosions) and explosive-device drops from UAVs (3 explosions).
Over the past two years, more than 100 prostheses have been manufactured at Bez Obmezhen Prosthetics Centre in Chernihiv. For those injured as a result of russia’s military aggression, prosthetics under the state programme are free of charge. The centre currently produces lower-limb prostheses but plans to begin work on upper-limb prosthetics as well. Rehabilitation services, including for Ukrainian veterans, are also available.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Nikopol region. In the evening and again in the morning, the enemy attacked Nikopol by drones and artillery.
Pavlohrad region. Infrastructure was damaged as a result of a UAV strike.
Synelnykove region. The russian forces hit Vasylkivka community by a drone.
During the night, air defenders destroyed 3 russian UAVs.
Nikopol region. During the day, the enemy shelled the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanetsk, Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. 2 women, aged 58 and 43, were injured in Nikopol and received the necessary medical assistance. Fires broke out. A college, a dormitory, 7 private houses, 3 utility structures, 2 outbuildings, a greenhouse, a vehicle, a trailer and infrastructure were damaged.
Synelnykove region. Updated information confirms that yesterday’s KAB strike on Mezhova community damaged a mill and 6 private houses.
Vinnytsia oblast
Vinnytsia will host a memorial event marking the second anniversary of the death of Dmytro Pilat. Dmytro served as a senior soldier in the 14th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Chervona Kalyna. He was killed in combat near Verbove in 2023.
Poltava oblast
Serhii Kolisnyk, Taras Viun and Volodymyr Pypko, from Novosanzharka, Kremenchuk and Velyka Bahachka communities respectively, were killed while defending Ukraine.
Serhii Kolisnyk had been considered missing since 9 August 2025 near Pokrovsk in Donetsk oblast. He served as a senior rifleman and UAV operator. His body was identified through DNA analysis.
Taras Viun was killed on 9 December 2025.
Volodymyr Pypko was killed on 28 November 2025 in Kharkiv oblast.
In Poltava, 2 memorial plaques are planned to honor fallen Ukrainian defenders Kyrylo Sadovskyi and Semen Kramskyi. They will be installed on the buildings of the educational institutions where both had studied.
Kyrylo Sadovskyi was killed on 10 November 2024 while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.
Semen Kramskyi was killed on 22 September 2024 as a result of russian artillery shelling in Donetsk oblast.
Poltava City Council plans to allocate nearly UAH 230,000 in assistance for residents affected by drone strikes in the community. The list includes 9 applications from people whose homes were damaged and those who were injured.
Cherkasy oblast
In the St. Michael’s Cathedral Garrison Church in Cherkasy, a memorial ceremony was held for 2 servicemen: 32-year-old Bohdan Bilyk, who was killed in Donetsk oblast in November 2024 and 51-year-old Serhii Pokotylo, who died due to illness.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 58-year-old man was injured in a russian attack on Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian forces struck a funeral service vehicle by an FPV drone. The vehicle was damaged.
Also, russian troops hit a civilian car in Zaporizhzhia oblast by a drone. Both the driver and the passenger were injured.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Defence Forces in Huliaipole region repelled 15 russian attacks near Solodke, Pryvilne, Huliaipole and Pryiutne. In Orikhiv region, russian forces carried out one attack near Stepove.
Based on the information provided by Zaporizhzhia CMA, on 8 December, russian troops targeted an ambulance by an FPV drone in Bilenke. There were no casualties reported.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, russian drones attacked a fire and rescue station in one of the settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast. The strike damaged the station’s building, including its roof, windows and doors. Rescuers were not harmed.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 8 December, russian forces carried out 642 strikes on 26 cities and villages of Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 13 airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, Vilniansk, Ternivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Ternuvate, Kosivtseve, Rizdvanka and Verkhnia Tersa.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, said that on 8 December, russian forces attacked Ochakiv community 5 times by FPV drones. There were no injuries reported.
Odesa oblast
According to the Air Force, a reconnaissance UAV was spotted in the airspace over Odesa coastal area at around 11am. Air defence assets were deployed to attempt to shoot it down.
Kherson oblast
Referring to Kherson RMA, around 4:20pm, russian troops attacked Antonivka by a drone. An 85-year-old man was injured. He was hospitalised with a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his legs.
At approximately 1pm, russian forces attacked a motorcyclist by a drone in Urozhaine, Kherson oblast. A 54-year-old man was injured and taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
Around 12:40pm, russian artillery shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 59-year-old man sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his arm.
The CMA informed that in the morning, russian forces carried out multiple drone attacks on the territory of a municipal enterprise in Kherson. A tractor unit was damaged. There were no injuries reported.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 8 December, due to russian shelling in Kherson oblast, 2 people were killed and 5 injured. A farming enterprise, a cellular tower, a water tower, a gas pipeline, 3 high-rise buildings, 8 private houses and vehicles were damaged. The russian forces attacked 33 settlements in the oblast.
Relying on the information provided by Kherson CMA, in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a 62-year-old man was injured in yesterday’s russian drone attack. He was hospitalised with a blast injury and shrapnel wounds.
A 58-year-old resident of Kherson required medical assistance after sustaining a concussion and blast injury from a russian drone attack at around 1:30pm yesterday. He has been prescribed outpatient treatment.
Volodymyr Litvinov, Head of RMA, confirmed that in Beryslav, a 56-year-old woman was killed in a russian UAV attack on 5 December.

Volyn oblast
Litovezh Village Council signed a memorandum of cooperation with Volyn sanatorium Forest Song, located in Shatsk community. During the signing of the memorandum, leaders discussed what they could do together – for children, for military families, for the elderly, for everyone who needs recovery, support, or just a little care.

Lviv oblast
The youth of the village of Hlynytsia have been actively working for the front for three weeks. During this time, they have made 500 trench candles, of which 150 have already been donated for the needs of the military. They have also woven 13 camouflage nets. The youth gather 3–4 times a week at People’s House 1, where the nets are woven continuously throughout the year.
Rivne oblast
16 cars, as well as an ATV and a motorcycle, were sent to the Security and Defense Forces by Rivne RMA since the beginning of the year. These are vehicles that were confiscated as state revenue from violators of customs legislation and as part of criminal proceedings.
Ternopil oblast
A traditional costumed race of St Nicholas took place in Ternopil. 40 participants ran a 5 km distance. This year’s race also had an important charitable purpose – raising funds for children affected by the shelling on 19 November in Ternopil.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent 15 DJI MATRICE 4T quadcopters worth UAH 2.6m to combat units.
Chernivtsi oblast
Bukovina scouts visited Chernivtsi RMA and Chernivtsi Regional Council with the Bethlehem Fire of Peace. Every year, members of the national scout organization Plast select it from scouts of other countries and transfer it to all regions and communities of Ukraine.

Latvia will allocate €15m for drones for Ukraine. It should be noted that this year Latvia has already transferred 12,000 drones to Ukraine.
