What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to hold back the advance of the Russian occupiers.

At this time, the total number of combat engagements stands at 87.

Today, communities in the settlements of Huta-Studenetska and Bohdanove in Chernihiv region; Neskuchne, Stukalivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Ryzhivka, Bezsalivka, Bobylivka, Shalyhyne, Hirky, Bunyakyne, Chernatske, Brusky, and Studenok in Sumy region suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Northern–Slobozhanske and Kursk directions, the occupiers’ aviation carried out an airstrike, dropping three guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy launched 68 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas.

In the Southern–Slobozhanske direction, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy attacks in the areas of Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Odradne, and Dovhenke, while three more engagements are ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces are repelling four enemy attacks toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane.

In the Lyman direction, the occupying army conducted seven attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Novovodyane, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, Drobysheve, and toward Lyman. One battle is ongoing.

In the Sloviansk direction, the Russians attempted six times to advance on the positions of our forces near Yampil, Serebrianka, Dronivka, and Fedorivka. The Defense Forces stopped all enemy attacks.

In the Kramatorsk direction, no offensive actions were recorded at this time. Rai-Oleksandrivka was hit by an airstrike.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy attempted 15 times to break through our defenses near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleschiivka, Shcherbynivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, and toward Sofiivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian occupiers have made 25 attempts to dislodge our troops from their positions in the areas of Shakhove, Fedorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward Novopavlivka. The Defense Forces are holding back the assault and have already repelled 22 attacks.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 11 assault actions by enemy forces. The enemy is trying to advance near Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Verbove, Rybne, Krasnohirske, and Vyshneve; another engagement is ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, there were ten combat engagements in the areas of Solodke, Pryvilne, Huliaipole, and toward the settlement of Pryluky. Enemy aviation carried out airstrikes on settlements including Ternuvate, Kosivtseve, Rizdvanka, and Zaliznychne.

In the Orikhiv direction, since the beginning of the day there has been one attack by enemy units—the occupiers attempted to advance near Stepove. They also carried out an airstrike with guided bombs on Zaporizhzhia.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, no combat engagements have been recorded at this time.

The Government has approved a monthly payment for Defenders awarded the “Cross of Combat Merit.”
The amount of this payment will be 1.5 minimum monthly wages as of January 1 of the respective year. As of today, this is 12,000 UAH per month.

If a person is eligible for payments for several awards, they may receive only one—of their own choosing. For example:

  • Order “Golden Star” — 24,000 UAH

  • Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky (all three classes) — 16,000 UAH

  • Orders “For Courage” and Princess Olga (all three classes) — 8,000 UAH

  • Distinction “Cross of Combat Merit” — 12,000 UAH

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted an expedited mechanism for reserving military-liable employees for defense and critically important enterprises.
The 72-hour deadline for verifying employee reservation lists has been canceled for critical enterprises. Defense enterprises will have 45 calendar days for an employee to correct violations of military registration rules.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The russians attacked eight times towards South Slobozhansky in Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Odradne, and Dovhenke. As of 10pm, one battle is still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the russian army made four attempts to advance towards Petropavlivka and Pishchane.

Towards South Slobozhanske, the Defense Forces repelled four attacks in the areas of Vovchansk, Synelnykove, Odradne, and Dovhenke. As of 4pm, three combat engagements are ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk , the Defense Forces repelled four Russian attacks in the direction of Petropavlivka and Pishchane.

Over the past day, 164 combat clashes were recorded.

Towards South Slobozhanske, our troops stopped four enemy attacks in the Vovchansk area.

Towards Kupiansk, there were two attacks by the invaders yesterday. Our defenders repelled the enemy’s assault on Pishchane.

Viktor Trehubov, Spokesman for the Joint Forces Group, reported on December 8 that russian strikes on the Pechenihy dam did not have a critical impact on military logistics, as the routes had been calculated in advance. According to him, the russians are currently operating in small infantry groups, using infiltration tactics, so massive assaults and breakthroughs are unlikely. Constant fighting continues in the areas of Vovchansk and Lyptsi: in Vovchansk — in urban areas, in Lyptsi — due to enemy attempts to capture dominant heights.

In cooperation with businesses, the RMA has provided the military with modular stabilization points to provide emergency care to the wounded in the field. Each module is equipped with an operating table, ventilators, ultrasound machines, medicine storage systems, water supply, heating, and armored protection. The stations are designed to stabilize the condition of the wounded before further evacuation.

The russian Federation targeted a car in the village of Klynova-Novoselivka, Zolochiv community, with an FPV drone at around 9am. Viktor Kovalenko said that the car was destroyed as a result of the fire.

The russians struck Baranivka in Zolochiv community with a Molniya missile at 8:15am. Two private houses, farm buildings, and power lines were damaged. There were no injuries.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, reported that a russian FPV drone struck a private house in Odnorobivka. The strike damaged the roof, outbuildings, and power lines, but no one was injured.

Community Head Oleksandr Husarov said that russia launched missile strikes on Pechenihy community on December 7 and 8. According to him, restoration work on the dam has not yet begun due to the dangerous situation — damage assessment is ongoing. Public transport continues to run on modified routes.

Over the past day, 10 settlements were hit by enemy strikes.

As a result of the shelling, 5 people were killed and 11 injured.

In Staryi Saltiv, a 49-year-old and a 66-year-old man were killed, and men aged 37, 38, 41, 43, 47, 48, and two 39-year-old men injured; in the village of Borova, a 68-year-old man was injured; in the village of Verkhnia Samara, Blyzniukivka community, a 67-year-old woman was injured; in the village of Podoly, Kurylivka community, a 70-year-old woman was killed and a 68-year-old woman was injured; in the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Kupiansk community, a 68-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man were killed.

Medical personnel also provided assistance to a 27-year-old man who was injured by the explosion of an unknown object in a forest near the village of Boholiubivka in Kunie community.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

▪️1 missile (type to be determined);

▪️7 missiles (MLRS);

▪️1 KAB;

▪️2 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;

▪️1 Lancet-type UAV;

▪️3 FPV drones;

▪️5 UAVs (type to be determined).

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️an apartment building was damaged in Bohodukhiv region (Ivashky);

▪️in Kupiansk region, a car was damaged (Ivanivka);

▪️in Lozova region, a private house was damaged (Verkhnia Samara);

▪️in Chuhuiv region, a civilian enterprise was damaged (Korobochkyne).

According to the Regional Military Administration, as of now, the situation in the communities near the Pechenihy Reservoir is stable, and there are no grounds for evacuating the population. Specialised services continue to monitor the water level on an ongoing basis. An action plan has been drawn up for the region, providing for transport resources, coordination of emergency services and the possible deployment of transit centres if necessary.

Liudmyla Ozerna, Head of the Hydrological Forecasting Sector, said that after the russian Federation’s strikes on Pechenihy dam, no flooding has been recorded. As of the morning of 7 December, the reservoir was 73% full, with a free capacity of 102m cubic metres. water discharge was within 10 cubic metres, and the levels of the Siverskyi Donets River were below the long-term average. In the event of large-scale destruction of the dam, flooding of adjacent areas and environmental consequences are possible, with Pechenihy, Chuhuiv and Zmiiv being the first to be threatened; evacuation from Chuhuiv will take 12-24 hours, and up to 48 hours to Zmiiv. As of 8 December, about 5,000 people remain in Velykyi Burluk community, including 159 children.

Over the past week, at least 31 settlements in Kharkiv oblast, including the city of Kharkiv, have been hit by enemy strikes.

Twenty people were injured and seven killed as a result of the shelling.

Two more people were killed and five were injured as a result of the explosion of unknown objects.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

▪️1 Iskander-M missile;

▪️1 missile (type to be determined);

▪️7 missiles (MLRS);

▪️7 KAB;

▪️34 Geran-2 UAVs;

▪️6 Lancet UAVs;

The civilian infrastructure of Chuhuiv region suffered the most damage, where the enemy damaged two apartment buildings, nine private houses, a garage, a farm building, three civilian enterprises, two recreation centres, and two cars.

Significant damage was caused in Bohodukhiv region: an apartment building, seven private houses, farm buildings, power lines, two cars, and a shop.

In Kharkiv, the enemy damaged a civilian enterprise. State Emergency Service units were called in to extinguish 20 fires caused by enemy shelling. They defused 343 enemy munitions.

Donetsk oblast

According to the 7th Army Corps, over the past week, russian troops dropped 21 aerial bombs on Myrnohrad. Russian troops are conducting intensive assault operations, trying to penetrate and gain a foothold in the south-eastern outskirts of the city. Over the past day, Defence Forces units eliminated 17 occupiers in Myrnohrad. Another russian infantryman was taken prisoner by the military.

The 7th Army Corps confirmed that following a decision by the command, Defence Forces units carried out an organised manoeuvre in the area of the settlements of Lysivka and Sukhyi Yar towards Pokrovsk. For security reasons, information about the operation was not made public for some time in order to avoid the risk of disrupting its execution.

Oleksandr, call sign “Voron”, a pilot of the Strizh unmanned systems battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss”, reported that as of 8 December 2024, the situation remains tense towards Siversk. Russian troops are advancing in small groups, but Ukrainian Edelweiss units are detecting and destroying them with the help of drones. Weather conditions — fog and swamps — complicate the work of both sides.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of 8 December, units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck a number of russian military targets in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

  • an ammunition depot in Chmyrivka, Luhansk oblast;
  • a UAV depot in Donetsk;
  • a russian unit’s fuel and lubricants depot in the Simeikyne area;
  • a mobile fire group and a Pantsyr-S1 air defence missile system in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Pokrovsk, the Defence Forces repelled 53 assaults in the directions of: Nove Shakhove, Nove Donbas, Bilytske, Rodinske, Chervonyi Lyman, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Myrnohrad, Molodetsk, Novopavlivka and in the areas of the settlements: Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, and Filiia.

Towards Kostiantynivka, there were 18 attacks by the russian army near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbinivka, Kleban-Byk, Yablunivka, Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka.

Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of the Military Administration, reported that on 8 December at 4:24pm, russian troops shelled Kramatorsk. Russian troops dropped a FAB-250 aerial bomb on Kramatorsk from a UMPK. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that as a result, a family was wounded. The ammunition hit near a two-story residential building. A 44-year-old man, his 40-year-old wife and two children aged 6 and 8 were wounded during the shelling. They were at home at the time of the attack. They suffered mine-blast injuries and shrapnel wounds.

On 8 December, at 9am in Kostiantynivka, a family with two children riding two bicycles to fetch water came under fire from an FPV drone, according to the regional prosecutor’s office. A 42-year-old man, his 32-year-old wife, and their two minor children, a 7-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, were injured. Doctors assess the condition of the children and their father as moderate. They were hospitalised.

Kramatorsk community was under combined attacks by russian drones from the night of 7 December to the night of 8 December. Residential buildings, a shop, a petrol station, administrative and educational buildings were damaged in the city. One person was injured. This was reported by the city council.

On 7 December, the police recorded 1,904 enemy shellings along the front line and in residential areas.

Eleven settlements were under attack: Bilozerske, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Raihorodok, Hryshyne, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Zoloti Prudy, and Rai-Oleksandrivka.

Twenty-nine civilian objects were destroyed, including 13 residential buildings.

The russians launched seven strikes on Druzhkivka, mainly with FPV drones, killing two civilians and injuring two more men. Four private homes and two civilian vehicles were damaged.

In Kostiantynivka, there was one fatality and one injury as a result of drone attacks.

One person was killed in Lyman, and a private house was damaged.

The enemy fired on Kramatorsk 11 times, including with various types of drones. Two apartment buildings and six private houses, a shop, an administrative building, a petrol station, a shopping centre and six vehicles were damaged.

In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, an FPV drone damaged a private home.

The occupiers dropped a KAB-250 bomb on Rai-Oleksandrivka, destroying an educational institution. Critical infrastructure was damaged in Raihorodok.

In Bilozerske, a Lancet UAV strike damaged three vehicles belonging to a municipal enterprise.

In less than a week, social buses from the Proliska humanitarian mission transported more than 300 people from Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk to the railway station in Barvinkove in Kharkiv oblast. Travel is free, and the bus schedule was calculated so that passengers could catch trains to Kyiv, Lviv and Kherson. Ukrzaliznytsia cancelled rail service from Donetsk oblast in early November. Private carriers charge UAH 300 per person to take passengers to the trains.

Luhansk oblast

Over the past day, the enemy attacked seven settlements towards Lyman and two towards Sloviansk, specifically near Hrekivka. The enemy used barrel artillery 13 times and used 16 UAVs and FPV drones.

In occupied Luhansk oblast, the population is being forced to install a messenger under the control of russian security forces, without which it is impossible to use the russian Federation’s public services portal; previously, this was accompanied by pressure through trade and educational institutions.

In Siverskodonetsk, a demonstration restoration of heat supply began in mid-December, while the city remains largely without heating for the fourth winter, and a significant part of the heating mains have been dug up for over a year.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The State Emergency Service of Kyiv oblast reported that on 8 December, russian troops attacked Fastiv with drones, causing fires. The roofs of a three-storey and a single-storey building covering an area of 1,500 m² caught fire. The blast wave also damaged a private residential building and administrative buildings. The fires were extinguished.

The mayor of Fastiv, Mykhailo Netyazhuk, announced that in Fastiv, plans are underway to dismantle the railway station destroyed by a russian strike on 6 December 2025, and build a new one. The decision was made following a meeting of the headquarters for dealing with the aftermath of the russian attack. During the construction of the new station, a temporary modular structure is planned for installation on the platform.

Kyiv has approved a payment procedure for residents with disabilities of groups 1 and 2 who served in the armed forces. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, this involves partial compensation for apartment renovations. The city is ready to cover part of the costs so that every veteran can live in their apartment without barriers or obstacles, the statement said.

On 6 December, an Alley of Memory for Heroes, fallen servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was opened in the village of Zahaltsi, Bucha district. Charitable organisations and the Borodianka village council helped to implement the initiative. The memorial site was set up in a park located in the centre of the village. 

Zhytomyr oblast

У Радомишлі 6 грудня відбулися мандрівні вечорниці. Захід організував радомишльський пластовий рій “Люті мурахи” за участі гостей із Києва, Ірпеня та Бучі. Подію присвятили пам’яті полеглого захисника України Андрія Трасіуха та вшанували воїнів Збройних Сил України. Мета заходу показати історію та культурну спадщину Радомишльщини, надихнути учасників прикладами людей, які захищали та розвивали рідний край.

Sumy oblast

On the morning of 8 December the General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, russia carried out six airstrikes. In total, russian forces dropped 17 guided aerial bombs and conducted 168 attacks, including three by multiple-launch rocket systems.

During the night of 8 December, russians attacked Okhtyrka by three UAVs. A strike on an apartment building injured seven people, two of whom were hospitalised. Rescuers evacuated 35 residents from the damaged building and freed seven more who had been trapped. The building sustained extensive damage, with a fire breaking out from the third floor upwards. Cars and nearby private houses were also damaged. State Emergency Service personnel deployed a mobile “Invincibility Point” to provide heating and device charging for local residents.

Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, said that due to russian attacks on 8 December, strikes were recorded in Sumy, Stetskivka starosta district and Pishchanske starosta district. Civilian infrastructure was damaged and civilians were injured.

In Pishchanske starosta district, a residential house was hit. A 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were wounded.

In Sumy community, a UAV struck a civilian infrastructure facility. Another munition fell near residential and non-residential buildings in Zarichnyi district of the city.

In Stetskivka starosta district, several drones struck after 1pm. Two households, two shops and a car were damaged, and windows were blown out in nearby houses.

Between the morning of 7 December and the morning of 8 December, russian forces carried out nearly 130 attacks on 43 settlements in 22 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Okhtyrka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (almost 20 strikes), UAVs (almost 30 strikes), VOG drops from UAVs (almost 20 strikes), and also conducted FPV-drone attacks. Over the day, the air-raid alert in the oblast lasted 15 hours 53 minutes.

Consequences of russian strikes on Sumy oblast as of the morning of 8 December:

  • In Sumy community, due to UAV attacks, a 12-year-old child and a 57-year-old man were wounded. A 25-year-old woman injured during the downing of russian drones also sought medical help. Non-residential buildings and a private car were damaged;

  • In Krasnopillia community, a 52-year-old man was injured in a UAV strike. A private residential house was destroyed and three outbuildings were damaged;

  • In Velyka Pysarivka community, a 42-year-old man was wounded by a VOG dropped from a UAV. A private residential house and an outbuilding were damaged, and two cars were destroyed;

  • In Okhtyrka community, UAV attacks injured women aged 39, 56, 58, 67 and 78, as well as an 85-year-old man; a 62-year-old man was traumatised. An apartment building, four cars, a private house and a medical facility were damaged;

  • In Shalyhyne community, two private residential houses and an outbuilding were destroyed;

  • In Shostka community, a private house and non-residential premises were destroyed, and another private house was damaged;

  • In Bilopillia community, a private residential house was damaged;

  • In Novoslobidka community, a private residential house was damaged.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported that between 1 and 7 December, Defence Forces shot down 199 russian strike drones over Chernihiv oblast, while another 79 were lost from tracking.

The Northern Forest Office branch informed that on 8 December, russian forces attacked Kostobobriv forestry enterprise in the border area of Chernihiv oblast by FPV drones. A fire broke out, and the office building, storage facilities and a fuel station on the premises were damaged.

According to the City Council, at around 3pm on 8 December, a russian drone fell onto a private yard in Chernihiv. No injuries were recorded. Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv City Military Administration, said that air defences shot down a Shahed over the city.

The State Emergency Service in Chernihiv oblast reported that in the centre of Chernihiv, three people were injured when a russian drone exploded near an apartment building during the night of 8 December; one of them was hospitalised. A kindergarten, shops, institutions and cars located near the building were also damaged. A gas pipeline fire broke out at the scene.

On 7 December, russian Molniia UAVs attacked Semenivka. An administrative building and a residential house were damaged. A local woman was injured and hospitalised.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Regional Military Administration reported that on 7 December, russian forces attacked the centre of Chaikyne village in Novhorod-Siverskyi community by four UAVs. The local cultural centre, which housed the starosta’s office, as well as a residential house and a private car, were damaged.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that throughout 7 December, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy conducted mortar attacks (3 explosions) and tube artillery strikes (2 explosions), and carried out attacks with Herbera-type UAVs (1 explosion), Molniia-type UAVs (3 explosions) and FPV drones (17 explosions). Semenivka town and eight villages came under fire.

Novhorod-Siverskyi community declared days of mourning on 7 and 8 December following the mass attack on the town in which one person was killed. On the evening of 6 December, russian forces attacked Novhorod-Siverskyi by four Heran-2 strike UAVs, killing a 50-year-old local resident inside his home.

According to Chernihiv Regional Department of Culture, as a result of explosions from two russian drones on 6 December in Novhorod-Siverskyi, an 18th-century architectural monument of national significance — the St Mykola (Mykolaiv) Church of 1720 — was damaged.

Korukivka Regional Military Administration reported that between 1 and 7 December, 15 attacks were recorded in Korukivka region. A total of 46 explosions were documented. Enemy forces targeted critical infrastructure, residential areas, businesses and administrative buildings.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Dnipro. As a result of a UAV attack, an administrative building, 3 high-rise buildings and a vehicle were damaged.

Nikopol region. The enemy continued to terrorize Nikopol, Pokrovske, Marhanetsk and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. A 13-year-old girl was injured and received the necessary assistance. An apartment building, a private house, an arts school and a vehicle were damaged.

Kryvyi Rih region. The occupiers again attacked Zelenodolsk and Hrushivka communities by drones. A 52-year-old man was killed. A private house, an agricultural enterprise, a mobile home and a gas pipeline were damaged.

Pavlohrad region. In Mezhova community, 4 people were injured in a UAV attack, including a 14-year-old boy, 2 men aged 40 and 39, and a 41-year-old woman. A private house caught fire; 2 houses, an outbuilding and a vehicle were damaged.

During the night, air defenders destroyed 8 enemy UAVs.

Nikopol region. During the day, the enemy struck the regional centre, Pokrovske, Myrove and Marhanets communities by drones and artillery. A morning drone strike on Pokrovske community injured a 78-year-old woman; rescuers pulled her from her home. In Nikopol, a 67-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman were injured and received necessary medical assistance. A private house caught fire; 9 houses, a high-rise building, a summer house, a rehabilitation centre, an enterprise, 6 outbuildings, 2 greenhouses, infrastructure and a power line were damaged.

Kryvyi Rih region. The enemy attacked Zelenodolsk community by a drone. Infrastructure was damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast 

A project titled Veteran 360: Ecosystem of Veteran Services was presented in Vinnytsia oblast. Its goal is to provide comprehensive psychosocial support services to veterans, their families and families of fallen defenders across 63 communities of the oblast.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Znamianka, locals welcomed serviceman Vadym Zviahintsev after his release from russian captivity. Vadym served in the 56th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade and took part in the defense of Mariupol. After the fighting, he was wounded and captured, spending 3.5 years in captivity.

Poltava oblast

At the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Poltava, a memorial service was held for fallen servicemen: Senior Soldier Vitalii Taran and Soldier Serhii Arestov.

Vitalii Taran was killed on 29 November 2025 in Donetsk oblast.

Serhii Arestov died on 9 August 2024 in Donetsk oblast from wounds sustained in battle.

A native of Poltava oblast, Oleksandr Skrypchenko, was killed on the frontline. The serviceman was 32 years old. He was killed on 26 November 2025 while carrying out a combat mission in Sumy oblast.

A memorial plaque to serviceman Andrii Parkhomenko (Parkhom) was unveiled on the facade of Poltava School No.22. On 24 February 2022, Andrii was among the first to confront the enemy in Sumy. During that battle, Parkhom continued to lead his unit until his last breath, defending the city from occupation. He was killed on 25 February in Sumy oblast.

In Poltava, a petition to create the Wall of Hope memorial stand gathered the required 250 signatures. It will be dedicated to servicemen who went missing in action or are held in captivity. The initiative will now be reviewed by the City Council Committee.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that the oblast remained under air-raid alert until late at night. Air defence forces were active: 2 russian UAVs were shot down within the oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, at about 13:00, the enemy attacked Zaporizhzhia and Vilniansk. According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, 15 people were wounded as a result of the shelling. An industrial facility and at least five apartment buildings were damaged.

According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 7 December, the occupiers carried out 615 strikes on 20 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 27 airstrikes on Rozumivka, Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Ternuvate, Novoandriivka, and Rizdvianka. 346 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Kushuhum, Bilenke, Stepnohirske, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Varvarivka, Zelene, and Solodke. Six MLRS attacks were carried out on Rozumivka, Huliaipole, Varvarivka, and Zelene. 236 artillery strikes were launched on Stepnohirske, Prymorske, Stepove, Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Varvarivka, Zelene, and Solodke. Twenty-seven reports were received about damaged homes, cars, and infrastructure. Six people were wounded by enemy strikes on Zaporizhzhia and Polohy regions.

According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 7 December, ten combat engagements took place near the settlements of Solodke, Pryvilne, Huliaipole, and Pryluky towards Huliaipole. One enemy attack took place since the beginning of the day—occupiers tried to advance near Stepove towards Orikhiv. Yesterday, 7 December, Ukraine’s Defence Forces repelled 20 russian attacks towards Huliaipole and two towards Orikhiv.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 7 December, five Shahed-type UAVs and various types of mock drones were shot down or suppressed in the region.

Yesterday afternoon, the enemy carried out two strikes on Bashtanka region, preliminarily with guided aerial bombs. There were no casualties or destruction. russian forces also carried out eight FPV-drone attacks on Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. There were no casualties.

Odesa oblast

Today the regional Veteran Hub of Odesa oblast was officially opened. The center will operate as a comprehensive service hub: consultations and social support, assistance with document processing, support during post-service adaptation, support for families of veterans, organization of activities, competitions, development of adaptive sports, a business center for those who want to start their own business, and more.

The press service of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the South-Western District reported that the water area of the Sukhyi Estuary was polluted as a result of two attacks on the Odesa oblast. The first spill of 125 tons of sunflower oil occurred on 9 October last year due to the destruction of port infrastructure caused by a missile strike. The amount of damage reached 10,900,368,000 hryvnias. Exactly one year later, on 9 October of this year, new destruction of the same facility caused environmental damage amounting to 2,745,890,000 hryvnias.

Kherson oblast

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, today, as a result of russian attacks in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, two people were killed.

At around 11:30, russian forces shelled Kherson. A 78-year-old man sustained a concussion, a shrapnel wound to the arm, blast trauma, and a closed head injury.

At about 03:00, russian occupiers shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 45-year-old man suffered blast trauma and a concussion.

A postal worker sought medical help after being injured in a russian drone attack in Bilozerka on 5 December. She sustained blast trauma and a concussion.

An ambulance brought to the hospital a woman injured in a russian attack on Dniprovskyi district of Kherson on 4 December. The 60-year-old woman was diagnosed with a concussion, blast trauma, and a closed head injury.

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 7 December, the russian forces attacked Antonivka, Komyshany, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Bilozerka, Dniprovskе, Kizomys, Novotiahynka, Tokarivka, Sofiivka, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Olhivka, Novovorontsovka, Osokorivka, Respublikanets, Sablukivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Vesele, Kozatske, and the city of Kherson. Eleven private houses, a post office and a gas station were damaged. Two people were injured due to russian aggression.

During the overnight drone attack, air-defense forces destroyed seven Shaheds over the region.

According to Pavlo Drohal, spokesperson for the 30th Marine Corps, from 1 to 7 December, russian forces carried out three airstrikes and two missile strikes on Kherson oblast. They also shelled Ukrainian military positions and civilian infrastructure 543 times. Over the week, the Defense Forces repelled 14 russian assaults. During the reporting period, the russian army lost 118 units of weapons and equipment. 126 russian soldiers were killed or wounded.

The website of Volynyoblenerho informed that according to the electricity outage schedules as of 8 December, consumers in Lutsk received electricity for only 10h a day.

Zakarpattia oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent 25 DJI MATRICE 4T quadcopters worth UAH 4.5m to the military. 

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi City Council reported that a final decision has been made to take out a loan from the European Investment Bank in the amount of EUR 13m, which will allow for a significant upgrade of Chernivtsi’s electric transport.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Georgia Maloney, Chairman of the Council of Ministers. They discussed the results of communication with the American side and the current prospects and difficulties.

In Paris, at the opening of the Ukrainian season, Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, was presented with authentic cockerels – symbols of indomitability, miraculously surviving among the ruins in Borodianka. The cockerel collection was presented by the Cocker foundation, which restores hearing in soldiers after concussions.
