Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:
The enemy is shelling border areas. Today, in Sumy oblast, the settlements of Bezsalivka, Kucherivka, Brusky, Rohizne, Ulanove, Vasylivske, Budky, Khodyne, Prohres, Starykove, and Bachivsk were affected. The enemy also shelled Yasna Polyana in Chernihiv oblast.
The operational situation across the frontline is as follows:
- Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk: The enemy launched one airstrike, dropping two guided bombs, and carried out 73 shellings of settlements and positions of our troops, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.
- Towards Southern Sloboda: russian occupiers attacked positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Zybine. The combat engagement is currently ongoing.
- Towards Kupiansk: Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the vicinity of Kurylivka.
- Towards Lyman: Ukrainian warriors repelled three attempts by the invaders to advance in the vicinity of Stavky, Drobysheve, and Lyman.
- Towards Sloviansk: The aggressor attacked three times in the vicinity of Zakitne and Platonivka. One combat engagement is ongoing.
- Towards Kramatorsk: The enemy attacked in the vicinity of Nykyforivka. The battle is still ongoing.
- Towards Kostiantynivka: The invaders carried out 14 offensive actions in the vicinity of Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, and towards Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Novopavlivka.
- Towards Pokrovsk: Since the start of the day, the occupiers have tried 13 times to push our warriors from their positions in the vicinity of Shakhove, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Molodetske. One attack is ongoing.
- Towards Oleksandrivka: The enemy went on the offensive twice in the vicinity of Ternove and Zlahoda. Pidhavrylivka, Havrylivka, Oleksandrohrad, Pokrovske, and Pysantsi were hit by enemy airstrikes.
- Towards Huliaipole: 13 attacks occurred in the vicinity of Myrne, Zaliznychne, Hirke, and Sviatopetrivka. Defense Forces are holding back the pressure, with 12 attacks already repelled. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Vozdvyzhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Kopani, Zahirne, Huliaipilske, and Charivne.
- Towards Orikhiv: One combat engagement took place in the vicinity of Stepnohirsk. Komyshuvakha and Orikhiv were hit by airstrikes.
- Towards Kherson: Ukrainian units repelled one enemy attack in the vicinity of the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation have been recorded. Ukrainian troops continue to exhaust the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reports in its morning summary that near Sloviansk, the russian army assaulted Defense Forces positions 12 times over the past day. Attacks by russian troops were recorded in the vicinity of Platonivka, Rai-Oleksandrivka, Kalenyky, Dronivka, Zakitne, Riznykivka, and Pazeno.
Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian military repelled 20 assaults towards Pokrovsk and another 15 towards Kostiantynivka. There were a total of 121 combat engagements.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attempted to break through the defensive lines of our defenders five times in the vicinity of Hrafske, Vilcha, Zybine, Pishchane, and Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked four times in the vicinity of Pishchane, Kurylivka, Kivsharivka, and Novoosynove.
During the past day, Kharkiv and 19 settlements of Kharkiv oblast came under enemy strikes. As a result of the shelling, two people were killed and 7 people were injured, including a child.
In Kamiana Yaruha village of Chuhuiv hromada, a 56-year-old man was injured; in Bilyi Kolodiaz village of Vovchansk hromada, two men aged 81 and 60 were killed, and a 71-year-old woman was injured; in Chuhuiv, a 56-year-old man and an 8-year-old girl were injured; in Velyka Babka village of Chuhuiv hromada, two women aged 71 and 55 and a 71-year-old man were injured.
The enemy attacked Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv with a UAV. The enemy actively used various types of weapons against Kharkiv oblast: 4 KABs, 8 “Geran-2” type UAVs, 5 FPV drones, and 29 UAVs of an unidentified type.
Civilian infrastructure objects were damaged and destroyed:
– in Kharkiv, power grids were damaged;
– in Bohodukhiv region, a private house was damaged in Baranivka village, power grids in Myronivka village, 2 community centers in Odnorobivka and Dovzhyk villages, and 3 private houses and an outbuilding in Turove village;
-in Kupiansk region, a warehouse, a shop, a private house, and a truck were damaged in Prykolotne village; in Izium district, a private house was damaged in Izium;
-in Kharkiv region, a private house was damaged in Vilshany settlement;
-in Chuhuiv region, a granary and an outbuilding were damaged in Pechenihy settlement, a loader, a tractor, and a hauler in Kamiana Yaruha village, a private house and power grids in Chuhuiv, and a private house in Velyka Babka village.
Transit evacuation point in Lozova received 122 people over the past 24 hours. A total of 21,748 people have been registered at the point since the start of its operation.
Donetsk oblast
Viacheslav, commander of the unmanned systems battalion of 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade, call sign Liutyi, says that towards Pokrovsk, russian troops are increasing the number of drone strikes and attempting to expand the territory of the “kill zone”—the area controlled by UAVs from both sides of the front. At the same time, occupiers are unable to gain a foothold outside of urban areas, as Defense Forces eliminate russian infantry groups trying to hide in tree lines.
Vadym Liakh, Head of Sloviansk City Military Administration, reports that the russian army shelled Sloviansk in Donetsk oblast during the evening and morning. Occupiers attacked with Molniya-2 and Granat-4 drones, damaging private houses.
The National Police of Ukraine reports that during March 7, police recorded 1,082 attacks along the front line and the residential sector. Ten settlements came under fire. 122 civilian objects were destroyed or damaged, including 45 residential buildings.

In Nykonorivka village, a civilian was killed and a car was damaged as a result of an enemy strike.
Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reports that occupiers attacked Kramatorsk with a KAB-500 aerial bomb, drones, and artillery. The strike damaged 32 apartment buildings, 2 administrative buildings, 7 shops, 5 educational institutions, and 37 civilian cars. A total of 10 people were injured. Two women aged 21 and 75, a man, and his 11-year-old son sustained injuries in their homes. A child aged 1 year and 5 months and a 16-year-old girl were also injured.
The injured were diagnosed with mine-blast, cut, and contused wounds, concussions, a fracture, traumatic brain injury, brain concussion, and acute stress reaction.

Russian troops dropped 9 KAB-250 bombs on Sviatohirsk—4 private houses, 6 apartment buildings, an administrative building, 6 commercial pavilions, an educational institution, and non-residential premises were damaged.
In Druzhkivka, two homes and a civilian car were damaged as a result of drone attacks.
National Police of Donetsk Oblast reports that funeral services were held for two law enforcement officers from Donetsk oblast, district officer Oleksii Kryvenko and explosives technician Artur Horelov, who died while performing their official duties.

Mariupol City Council reports that in temporarily occupied Mariupol, russian occupiers are offering people to move into emergency apartments with unfinished repairs without formalizing ownership rights for these properties.
Luhansk oblast
Of the 18 attacks carried out by the occupiers yesterday in our sectors, 12 took place towards Sloviansk. Another six were recorded towards Lyman. In Luhansk oblast, the adversary opened fire with mortars 12 times and used automatic grenade launchers. In six instances, they directed unmanned aerial vehicles at Ukrainian defenders.
In Alchevsk, 40 km of heating mains require urgent replacement. They were declared to be in critical condition after an emergency that left the city without heat since January. To date, the invaders have “begun preparing a plan for preparation” for the next autumn-winter period. In other words, they are simply losing precious time, risking leaving city residents in cold apartments for the next year as well.
The invaders have officially acknowledged the destruction of the tram network in Luhansk. For several years, city residents witnessed the dismantling of tram tracks throughout the city. Recently, the head of the occupation administration of Luhansk confirmed that a crew from moscow, as part of a “people’s program,” is dismantling the track on Frunze Street. The plans include only laying new asphalt and installing lighting.
Oleksii Kharchenko, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, says that satellite television, which the russians had been forcibly installing over recent years, has stopped working in the temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast.
In the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, military commissars and representatives of russian security agencies were invited to a teachers’ conference. They explained to the educators how to recruit children into the russian army starting from the school bench.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, visited Kyiv for the first time since taking office, the Office of the President reported. Together with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, they honored the memory of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.
On March 7, in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, police discovered an unexploded warhead from a Russian drone, according to the Kyiv National Police. The munition was located in a forest park area near the village of Lisnyky. Law enforcement officers restricted access to the area. The explosive device was detonated on site.
On March 7, a forum dedicated to the role of women in the security and defense sector, “Women of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Defense, Security, Recovery,” was held in Kyiv. One part of the event focused on discussing the specifics, main challenges, and motivations in the work of women who safeguard the security of Ukrainian citizens, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
On March 7, in Kyiv, relatives of civilians illegally held in Russian captivity held a support rally. The event was called “We Are Not Waiting for Flowers – We Are Waiting for Our Loved Ones.” People gathered at Kontraktova Square with photos of their relatives, friends, flags, and posters.
On March 8, on International Women’s Day, a Women’s March took place in Kyiv. It was held for the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Zhytomyr oblast
During 2026, Zhytomyr will receive 13 used trolleybuses from the transport company of Lucerne — Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern (VBL), the city council reported.
The Government of the Switzerland has allocated 1.166 million Swiss francs (about 65 million UAH) for the transfer of low-floor trolleybuses, the development of the transport network, and training for the staff of municipal enterprises in Zhytomyr.
Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported that in the border Nova Slobidka community, two residents of a village were injured at approximately 7am. on 8 March as a result of an enemy UAV strike on a residential house. The injured were evacuated and taken to hospital. Doctors are providing the necessary medical assistance to the men aged 70 and 61.
Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office said that at approximately 5:30 am. on 8 March, russian forces struck Kyiv–Sumy train by a drone in Sumy region. About 200 passengers were on board. No injuries have been reported. The Lancet strike damaged the locomotive. Train traffic was temporarily suspended to replace the locomotive, after which passengers were delivered to the final destination.
At around 10:20am. on 8 March, russian forces attacked Sumy by a UAV. In the private sector, a house, a shed, a summer kitchen and a fence were damaged. Windows were shattered in neighbouring houses. The UAV also struck the roadway in the city centre.
The Regional Military Administration informed that over the past day on 7 March, one person was killed and seven were injured as a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast. As of the morning of 8 March:
- In Stepanivka community, a 24-year-old man was killed and a 22-year-old man was injured in a UAV strike on a civilian vehicle;
- In Hlukhiv community, a 47-year-old man was injured in a drone strike on a civilian vehicle;
- In Richky community, men aged 72, 43 and 38 were injured in UAV attacks on civilian vehicles;
- In Velyka Pysarivka community, two people were injured in a drone strike.
From the morning of 7 March to the morning of 8 March, russian forces carried out more than 100 attacks on 36 settlements across 18 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted 19 hours and 47 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house was destroyed;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, a multi-apartment building was damaged;
- In Richky community, passenger vehicles were damaged;
- In Stepanivka community, the premises of a house of culture, a civilian infrastructure facility and a passenger vehicle were damaged;
- In Hlukhivs community, a passenger vehicle was damaged;
- In Krasnopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, passenger vehicles were damaged;
- In Bezdryk community, a lorry, a passenger vehicle and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Mykolaivka rural community, a lorry was damaged;
- In Sumy community, a shop building and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Velyka Pysarivka community, a private house was damaged.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that at approximately 9:40pm. on 7 March, russian forces struck the territory of a forestry enterprise in Novhorod-Siverskyi by two Heran-type strike drones. Garages and lorries were damaged as a result of the attack.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on 7 March, an MLRS strike by russian forces cut power to a transmission line in Koriukivka region. Several settlements were left without electricity. A vehicle was also damaged in a village of Koriukivka community as a result of an FPV drone strike.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during the day on 7 March, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (two explosions), tube artillery strikes (27 explosions) and MLRS strikes (20 explosions), launched Shahed-type UAVs (two explosions), Molniia-type UAVs (two explosions), attacked by FPV drones (28 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (12 explosions). Sixteen settlements were under enemy fire.
On 7 March in Chernihiv, a motor rally and demonstration in support of captured and missing servicemen took place. Participants gathered at Krasna Square and drove in a single column through the central streets of the city.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the enemy attacked by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A UAV attack in Kryvyi Rih caused a fire and damaged transport infrastructure.
The enemy also attacked the region by drones and artillery, striking the regional centre, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A lyceum, a private house, an outbuilding and infrastructure were damaged. A UAV attack in Mezhove community caused a private house to catch fire.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Pomichna town in Novoukrainka region, a reminder action was held in support of captured and missing servicemen.
Poltava oblast
Poltava Regional Military Administration informed that during the night and morning, enemy UAVs attacked an industrial enterprise in Myrhorod region. Production equipment was damaged.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that the russian military attacked Polohy region. A 53-year-old woman was injured.
A 65-year-old and an 88-year-old man were injured as a result of a russian attack on Zaporizhzhia oblast. A private house was partially destroyed and an outbuilding completely destroyed.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 7 March, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 16 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka regions. Combat engagements took place near Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Myrne, Zelene and Novohryhorivka.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 7 March, russian forces carried out 962 strikes on 38 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Based on the information provided by the State Emergency Service of the oblast, on 7 March, rescuers extinguished two fires caused by russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
Referring to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 7 March, the russian military attacked Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities 7 times by FPV drones. During one of the attacks near Dmytrivka village, an FPV drone struck an ambulance vehicle. A 57-year-old driver and a 34-year-old female paramedic were injured and hospitalised. As of the morning, their condition is stable.
Also, air defence forces in the oblast shot down or suppressed 5 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs and decoy drones of various types.
Odesa oblast
According to Odesa Regional Military Administration, on 8 March, there were threats of ballistic missile use in the oblast, and groups of strike UAVs were detected in the airspace.
Kherson oblast
Relying on the information provided by Kherson RMA, at approximately 3pm, russian forces attacked Ukrainka village in Novooleksandrivka community by a UAV. As a result of the strike, a 59-year-old man sustained blast trauma, a concussion,and a fractured lower leg.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Renowned surgeon Roslyslav Valikhnovskyi, together with medics from the ENT department of the Kovel Hospital in Volyn oblast, performed an operation aimed at eliminating a post-traumatic defect of the external nose. The patient is a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who was captured. While in captivity, the soldier was subjected to severe beatings and torture, which caused serious facial injuries. One of them was a deformation and fracture of the nose, which disrupted both breathing function and appearance.
Zakarpattia oblast
A charity concert In the Rhythm of Her Heart was held at Svaliava House of Culture, organized by the SKY DANCE dance studio in conjunction with Svaliava Resistance Movement. All funds raised will be transferred to the Svalyava Resistance Movement for the purchase of vehicles for 2 units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The oblast is among the top 5 oblasts in Ukraine in terms of the number of workplaces equipped for people with disabilities. Thanks to the state compensation program in Prykarpattya, 332 people with disabilities have already been able to work in accessible and comfortable conditions.
Lviv oblast
This week, a residency was held in Lviv within the UNBROKEN University. Veterans and experts from different cities of Ukraine came to the city to see how veteran policy works in Lviv and share their own experiences.
Rivne oblast
50 children from Zaporizhzhia oblast completed their rehabilitation in Rivne oblast and went home. They came at the invitation of Rivne RMA as part of the initiative Side by Side: United Communities.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that camouflage nets for defenders are being woven by the volunteer battalion Spiders. To continue this important work, the bases for new nets have been delivered.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The RMA met with Colonel Dmytro Oleksiuk, Hero of Ukraine from the village of Novostavtsi, Teofipol community, Commander of the Phoenix Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. They discussed current challenges and ways to strengthen the protection of cities and infrastructure from Russian strikes.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMAreported that Junior Sergeant Buyavts Serhii was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously).
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine and the Netherlands have reaffirmed their shared determination to resist the ongoing war of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and agreed that the security of Ukraine is inseparable from the security of all of Europe, and stability on the European continent is impossible without ensuring the long-term security and stability of Ukraine.
