The Defense Forces of Ukraine are holding back the offensive of Russian occupiers. The terrorists continue killing Ukrainians and destroying Ukrainian cities and villages.
As of now, the total number of combat engagements stands at 86.
Communities in the settlements of Khrinivka and Liskivshchyna in Chernihiv region; Velyka Pysarivka, Kucherivka, Novodmytrivka, Bila Bereza, and Seredyna-Buda in Sumy region; and Lemishchyne in Kharkiv region have come under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Northern-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled six enemy attacks today. The enemy’s aviation carried out six airstrikes, dropping a total of 11 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, the enemy launched 169 attacks on our positions and populated areas, including five using multiple rocket launchers.
In the Southern-Slobozhansky direction, the enemy attacked five times today in the areas of Vovchansk, Ambarne, and Kamianka; one combat engagement is currently ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces launched an attack near Zahryzove but were repelled.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army launched eight attacks today against Ukrainian positions near Novyi Myr, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Shandryholove. Three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked twice toward Serebrianka and Vyiimka; one combat engagement is still underway.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy is attempting to advance toward Stupochky and Bila Hora. The Defense Forces repelled all three attacks.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy is trying to penetrate Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Diliivka, Toretsk, Yablunivka, and toward Katerynivka and Oleksandro-Kalynove. Three enemy assaults were repelled, and three more engagements are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have made 37 attempts to push Ukrainian troops from their positions near the settlements of Popiv Yar, Poltavka, Myrne, Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Razine, Lysivka, Shevchenko, Zvirrove, Udachne, Muravka, Oleksiivka, Zelenyi Kut, and toward Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka. The Defense Forces are holding their ground and have already repelled 28 attacks.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy assaults; five combat engagements are still ongoing. The enemy attempted to advance near the settlements of Zaporizhzhia, Piddubne, Myrne, Komar, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, Zelene Pole, and Novopil.
In the Huliaipole direction, no offensive actions by the enemy have been recorded.
In the Orikhiv direction, enemy aircraft launched unguided missile strikes on Plavni. However, no ground offensive actions were carried out.
In the Prydniprovske direction, Russian forces did not conduct offensive operations but launched airstrikes on the areas of Mykolaivka and L’vove.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has imposed sanctions on five Chinese companies for supplying parts for Russian weaponry. The President signed a decree enacting sanctions against Central Asia Silk Road International Trade, Suzhou Ecod Precision Manufacturing, Shenzhen Royo Technology, Shenzhen Jinduobang Technology, and Ningbo BLIN Machinery. These companies are believed to be involved in supplying components for weapons production in Russia, particularly kamikaze drones.
Seven Ukrainian children have been returned from the occupied territories. They are aged between 6 and 17. Their families lived under constant pressure from the occupying authorities — they were forced to obtain Russian documents, forbidden to speak Ukrainian, threatened with loss of parental rights, and denied access to healthcare and freedom of movement. Now, the children and their families are finally safe. This was reported by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
Over the past day, 188 combat engagements were recorded.
In the Southern-Slobozhansky direction, the enemy launched 19 assaults on the positions of our units in the areas of Vovchansk, Zelenyi, Ambarne, Krasne Pershe, Kamianka, and toward Kutkivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, two enemy attacks occurred over the past 24 hours. Defense Forces repelled assaults near Holubivka and Zahryzove.
Russian forces have increased the number of assaults in the Vovchansk direction: while previously there were up to 10 attacks per day, now the number has reached about 30.
Shelling
During the past day, the city of Kharkiv and seven other settlements in the Kharkiv region came under enemy fire.
As a result of the shelling, 40 people were injured, including 3 children.
A 55-year-old woman from Kutkivka, Kupiansk district, was killed in a Russian tank shelling around 9:00 p.m. on July 7, according to the regional prosecutor’s office.
In Kharkiv, a 35-year-old woman was killed and 39 people were injured, including three children — an 8-year-old and a 17-year-old boy, and a 10-year-old girl. In the village of Buzove, Vovchansk community, a 73-year-old woman was injured.
The enemy attacked Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district using 6 drones.
Russian forces actively used various types of weapons against Kharkiv region:

At the beginning of July, a Russian FPV drone hit a volunteers’ vehicle while they were evacuating animals from the Velykoburlutska community. This was reported by Ruslan Horbal, a volunteer with Animal Rescue Kharkiv. During this trip, volunteers managed to evacuate 14 adult dogs, three puppies, and three cats from Kupiansk district.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
Russian troops launched 30 attacks in the Novopavlivka direction over the past 24 hours — up from 20 the previous day, according to the General Staff. The Russian army attacked near the settlements of Piddubne, Fedorivka, Voskresenka, Yalta, Shevchenko, Novosilka, Vilne Pole, and Novopil.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 68 assaults in the past day, while another 27 Russian attacks took place in the Lyman direction.
In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian forces are observing a decrease in the use of heavy armored vehicles. Instead, Russian troops are employing small infantry groups, occasionally using light vehicles such as quad bikes and motorcycles, reported Sergeant “Fitcha” from the 12th “Azov” Brigade.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces are conducting infantry assaults with groups of 2 to 6 soldiers, sometimes supported by motorcycles, according to Maksym Bilousov, spokesperson for the 60th Separate Mechanized Inhulets Brigade. The Russian army is also using strike drones such as Molniya, Lancet, FPV drones, fiber-optic drones, air-dropped munitions, MLRS, artillery, and aviation — including air-dropped guided bombs (KABs) aimed at Ukrainian positions.
Shelling
Russian forces attacked Kostiantynivka around midnight and again in the morning, reported Serhii Horbunov, head of the city’s military administration (MVA). In the morning, an FPV strike drone hit the city — no fatalities were reported, but two private houses and a gas supply line were damaged. At 11:00 a.m., the enemy struck again using an FPV drone, this time targeting a residential building. The building was damaged, but no injuries were reported.
Around 2:00 a.m. on July 8, a Russian FPV drone struck a vehicle repair station on the outskirts of Kramatorsk — no casualties, according to the MVA.
Three people were killed and 10 injured in Donetsk region due to Russian bombings over the past day.
On July 7, police recorded 3,316 enemy shelling incidents along the front line and residential areas.
Thirteen settlements were affected by the attacks:
- Cities: Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Myrnohrad, Sviatohirsk
- Town: Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka
- Villages: Andriivka, Hryshyne, Dibrova, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Mayak, Nove Shakhove, Novotroitske, Shakhove
56 civilian objects were damaged, including 21 residential buildings.
In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, a targeted Russian strike destroyed a private home, killing two civilians.
In Novotroitske (Shakhivska hromada), FPV drones were used — one civilian was killed, and a car and tractor were damaged.
In Kramatorsk, Russian forces used a Tornado-S MLRS, injuring a civilian and damaging five administrative buildings, a vehicle service station, and 20 civilian cars.
In Andriivka (Kramatorsk district), a Russian FPV drone hit a civilian minibus, injuring three people.
Russia launched three FAB-250 aerial bombs and a Molniya-2 drone at Kostiantynivka — two residents were injured, and one apartment building and 17 private houses were damaged.
The Pokrovsk district came under FPV drone strikes:
- In Hryshyne, one person was injured while riding a moped.
- In Novyi Donbas, two people were wounded and a vehicle was damaged.
- In Shylivka, one person was injured and a private house was damaged.
In Myrnohrad, an artillery strike damaged an apartment building.
In Nove Shakhove, a strike drone damaged a private home.
In Zolotyi Kolodiaz, a religious building was hit.
In Sviatohirsk, two Shahed-136/”Geran-2″ drones damaged a recreation facility.
Other
White Angels, a Ukrainian police evacuation unit, rescued several residents of frontline Pokrovsk during Russian shelling, evacuating people from the Shakhtarskyi neighborhood and the outskirts of the city. Officers worked under threat of airstrikes and drone attacks. Victims remain under the rubble of apartment buildings, which cannot be cleared manually. Those who could be recovered were buried in courtyards by neighbors.
Russian occupiers are planning to lease the port of Mariupol due to its unprofitability, lack of skilled workers, and frequent disruptions in Novorossiysk caused by Ukrainian strikes on Russian logistics, reports the Mariupol City Council, citing the resistance movement “Yellow Ribbon.”
Luhansk oblast
In the area of our responsibility, the enemy actively used tube artillery, striking with this type of weapon over 50 times. Seventy-nine drones and nine FPV drones operated by Russian forces carried out combat missions in the area. Enemy assaults were repelled in the Serebriansky Forest.
In hospitals of the so-called “LNR,” long queues are forming due to a shortage of general practitioners and specialized medical professionals. At the same time, the occupiers are considering organizing mandatory short-term deployments of civilian doctors to Russian military hospitals located near the front line — without signing any contracts.
One of the apartment buildings in Sievierodonetsk has been under “showcase restoration” since 2023. From the outside, it appears nearly repaired because the occupiers quickly painted the facade. However, damaged and destroyed stairwells have not been replaced, and bullet-riddled entrance doors remain in place. The water supply system has not been connected to most apartments.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that the death toll from the russian shelling of Kyiv on 4 July has risen to three. The victim died in hospital. Doctors fought to save his life until the end.
Kyivteploenergo informed that on the night of 7 July, the heating network in Solomianskyi district of Kyiv was damaged due to the russian attack on Kyiv, leaving about 500 buildings without hot water. Repairs are underway, and utility companies are preparing the heating network for launch.
As a result of a missile strike on Kyiv on the night of 3-4 July 2025, a batch of covers for the second edition of the comic book “Ivy. Behind the Wall” by the Ukrainian publishing house UA Comix. This was reported by the publishing team. The russian troops destroyed 1,000 copies of the covers, which were stored at one of the locations of the Kyiv printing house ‘Master of Books’.
On 7 July, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation Maya Riniker in Kyiv. The parties discussed the international situation, work with partners, Swiss support and assistance.
The regional SES reported that sappers have been clearing farmland in Kyiv oblast on a daily basis for the third month in a row. More than 632.55 hectares of land have been surveyed and cleared, making the area suitable for cultivation again. The demining operation involves 13 mechanised vehicles – robotic systems with remote control that allow them to perform tasks without endangering personnel.
The RMA reported that the bridge over the Teteriv River, which was damaged by shelling at the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion in 2022, is being overhauled in Kyiv oblast. The bridge structure is being repaired as part of a pilot project covering six facilities in oblast.
The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine reported on the construction of municipal housing in Bila Tserkva for more than 1500 Mariupol residents. On 7 July, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution “On the implementation of a pilot project to provide housing for internally displaced persons from the Mariupol city territorial community”. Ten houses are planned for construction at the first stage.
The social project “Dancing to Recover” is operating in Kyiv. It was founded by a veteran of the russian-Ukrainian war and his wife. The studio teaches Latin American dances not only to the military but also to other residents of the capital.
Zhytomyr oblast
The Chornobyl Radiation and Environmental Reserve reported that Stanislav Humeniuk, a former employee of the reservation and chief sergeant, was killed as a result of a russian missile strike in Kherson oblast. Stanislav Humeniuk lived in the village of Novobratske in Zhytomyr oblast. He was a volunteer and activist, the initiator of the public movement “Save Polissia!”, as well as a photographer and musician. Stanislav took part in the war in Donbas, and in 2024 he voluntarily went to the front again.
In Zhytomyr, the premises of Zhytomyr Lyceum No. 12 are being renovated to teach tenth-graders about the Defence of Ukraine. Four such centres will be set up in the hromada, where students from different educational institutions will be studying.
Sumy oblast
The State Border Guard Service reported that the territory of Sumy oblast, border guards shot down two enemy drones. Fighters of the 5th border detachment eliminated one Herbera UAV, and border guards of the Steel Detachment brigade shot down one Harpy UAV.
Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy RMA, said that on the evening of 7 July, a 42-year-old resident of a village in Mykolaiv community died as a result of a russian attack. The russian drone hit a tractor working in the field.
The RMA informed that the enemy struck a civilian infrastructure facility on the outskirts of Sumy community. As a result of the russian drone hit, two people received minor injuries. The premises were also damaged.
A civilian resident of Yunakivka community died as a result of russian shelling. The identity of the deceased is currently being established by experts.
Sumy Region Police Department informed that in Seredyna-Buda community, a woman blew herself up on an explosive device when she went to the forest to pick mushrooms. Police officers provided her with first aid and took her to the hospital. The woman had numerous injuries and wounds, including massive bleeding on her right arm.
During the day, from the morning of 7 July to the morning of 8 July, russian troops carried out 120 attacks on 34 settlements in 15 territorial communities of the oblast. The largest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (almost 30 strikes), dropping VOG from UAVs (35 strikes), and also carried out strikes by FPV-drones, UAVs, and missile strikes.
As a result of russian shelling over the past 24 hours, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged in the oblast:
– in Nova Slobodska community – an outbuilding;
– in Sumy community – non-residential buildings, a civilian infrastructure facility;
– in Mykolaiv rural community – a vehicle (tractor);
– in Bilopillia community – a private residential building, a non-residential building was damaged.
Over the past 24 hours, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organizations from border communities, evacuated 17 people.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, said that over the past day, the enemy attacked 17 settlements in three communities of the oblast. In Novgorod-Siverskyi region, the building of the local fire brigade and several non-residential buildings caught fire due to shelling. In one of the villages of the community, as a result of the drone attack, 3 houses and an outbuilding were completely destroyed, 6 more houses and a car were damaged.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novgorod-Siverskyi RVA, reported that on the night of 7-8 July, russian troops attacked Lenkiv village of the border Novgorod-Siverskyi community by drones. As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure was damaged.

According to Chernihiv border detachment, during the day on 7 July, russian troops attacked three border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novgorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy fired mortars (38 explosions), MLRS (26 explosions) and artillery (2 explosions), struck by FPV-drones (17 explosions), dropped explosive devices from UAVs (13 explosions). In Mykolaivka village, Semenivska community, a house caught fire as a result of an explosive device with an incendiary mixture being dropped from a UAV.
The RMA reported that within the framework of the “eRecovery” project, a total of over UAH 2b. in compensation was accrued in the oblast. People purchased 473 houses in Chernihiv oblast using electronic certificates. The first payments for reconstruction compensation have been made for 93 applications, out of a total of 190.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
The russian forces continue their relentless attacks on Nikopol region. Overnight and into the morning, they targeted the regional centre, Pokrov, Myrove and Marhanetska communities. 2 men, aged 36 and 37, were injured and received medical assistance. A car and a private house were damaged. The attacks continued across Synelnykove region, with the enemy striking Malomykhailivka, Velykomykhailivka and Mezhova communities. Fires broke out, damaging private houses and vehicles.
The russian troops again targeted 2 regions in the oblast – Nikopol and Synelnykove. The occupiers struck around 30 times in Nikopol, by drones and artillery. They hit the regional centre, Pokrov, Myrove and Marhanets communities. The strikes caused fires and damaged an apartment building, 9 private houses, 5 outbuildings and destroyed 1 auxiliary structure. The attack hit a gas station, a garage, cars, a canopy, public infrastructure, power lines and gas pipelines. In Synelnykove region, drones targeted Malomykhailivka and Mezhova communities, causing fires, damaging a private house and infrastructure.
Vinnytsia oblast
Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that Vinnytsia oblast delivered a new batch of FPV drones to the State Border Guard Service. The shipment includes 200 drones destined for front-line units.
Nazar “Hrynka” Hryntsevych, a native of Vinnytsia, was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. The presidential decree was published on 8 July. Nazar, aged 21, was killed in action on 7 May 2024.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Onufriivka community, locals welcomed Andrii Sorenkov, recently released from russian captivity. He was freed on 25 May during a 1000 for 1000 prisoner exchange. Born in 1985, Andrii joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 8 March 2022, and was captured on 10 April 2024.
Poltava oblast
A memorial ceremony was held at the Dormition Cathedral for Tamara Pyvovar, who died in hospital from injuries sustained during a Shahed drone strike on 3 July targeting the building of the Regional Military Recruitment Centre.
In Poltava, 3 memorial plaques are planned to honour fallen soldiers Dmytro Pushkar, Serhii Diudiuk and Oleh Herasymov. The installation is scheduled to be approved by the executive committee on 17 July.
On 8 July, a presidential decree was published awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star (posthumously) to pilot Dmytro Fisher. He had been previously listed as missing in action. A DNA analysis confirmed his death, which occurred on 5 June 2022, during a combat mission in Zaporizhzhia oblast. He was buried in Myrhorod on 28 March 2024.
Cherkasy oblast
A funeral was held in Cherkasy for Junior Sergeant Denys Hrebeniuk, who served as a platoon commander in a mortar battery. He was killed in combat in Donetsk oblast and was laid to rest on the Alley of Heroes.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 47-year-old woman and 2 men aged 59 and 70 were injured in a russian FPV drone attack on a civilian vehicle in Huliaipole community.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Defence Forces in Orikhiv region repelled 4 russian attacks near Kamianske and Mala Tokmachka. On Huliaipole region, russian troops unsuccessfully attacked 4 times near Malynivka.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 7 July, the russian military launched 503 strikes on 13 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 337 drone strikes (mostly FPV drones) targeting Zaporizhzhia, Balabyne, Malokaterynivka, Nyzhnia Khortytsia, Stepove, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Dobropillia, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka and Charivne.
Based on the information provided by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern Region, as a result of the russian drone attack on 7 July, over 1,750sq.m. of land in Oleksandrivskyi district of Zaporizhzhia was polluted with debris from destruction.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on the night of 8 July, russian forces attacked Vesniane community in Mykolaiv oblast by Shahed drones. A 51-year-old man in Nadbuzke village was seriously wounded and is in critical but stable condition. Also, the attack caused fires in 2 summer cottages and dry grass.
At night, 2 Shahed drones were shot down over Mykolaiv oblast.
On 7 July, russian forces carried out artillery shelling and 3 FPV drone attacks on Kutsurub community. As a result, dry grass and shrubs caught fire near Solonchaky village.
2 strikes in Dmytrivka village damaged the roof of a shop, power lines and started another fire. There were no injuries reported.
Between 7 July and the night of 8 July, FPV drones targeted the waters near the Ochakiv community. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Referring to the Ukrainian Navy, as of 6am on 8 July, no russian naval ships were detected in the Black Sea. There were no enemy ships in the Azov Sea. In the Mediterranean Sea, 2 russian warships were present, 1 of which is equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles capable of launching up to 4 missiles.
Kherson oblast
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that a 67-year-old man was killed in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson as a result of a russian drone attack.
According to Kherson City Military Administration, at around 4:30pm, a man in Dniprovskyi district was attacked by a russian UAV. He suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to the neck and chest. He was hospitalised.
The RMA informed that at approximately 2:30pm, russian forces dropped an explosive device from a UAV onto a car in Bilozirka. A 52-year-old man sustained a blast injury and was hospitalised.
The CMA added that russian troops dropped an explosive device from a UAV on a 69-year-old woman in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. She suffered a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to her left leg and was taken to hospital.
According to the RMA, a 64-year-old man from Kherson was attacked by a drone. He was diagnosed with a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to the legs.
Relying on the information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, in the morning, russian troops dropped an explosive device from a UAV onto a vehicle in Kherson. The 66-year-old driver was killed. Law enforcement has opened a criminal investigation.
The RMA reported that a 62-year-old man from Beryslav was hospitalised with a blast injury sustained during a morning shelling by russian forces.
According to the CMA, a 76-year-old woman from Kherson required medical assistance after suffering a blast injury during a russian drone attack in Tsentralnyi district of Kherson.
In the morning, russian forces conducted a massive artillery strike on Novokairy, Kherson oblast. An educational facility caught fire. There were no casualties reported at the time.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that at approximately 8:30am, russian troops attacked a vehicle in downtown Kherson by a drone. A 51-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds.
On 7 July, russian forces shelled 35 settlements in Kherson oblast. 1 person was killed and 4 injured. 2 high-rise buildings, 17 private houses, a business and a garage were damaged.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
In Volyn, 17 gyms provide the Veteran Sports service. The service was introduced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Through the Diia application, you can receive money for sports. Participants in hostilities and people with disabilities as a result of the war can apply for UAH 1,500 in the Diia application.
Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA held its 1st online meeting with Charity Gardiner, Minister of the Ahafo Region of the Republic of Ghana (Africa). They discussed cooperation.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Registration for the annual All-Ukrainian race in memory of fallen defenders begins on 10 July, which will take place in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk on 30 August. Each participant will be able to choose the Hero whose memory they want to honor and the distance they will be able to cover.
Lviv oblast
Drohobych RMA and the KOLO Volunteer Center sent 150 combat drones worth UAH 3m to the Ukrainian army.
The RMA reported that 470 families of military personnel, veterans, intelligence officers, rescuers, and law enforcement officers in Lviv oblast received housing on preferential mortgages.
Yurii Tkachyk from Slavska community was honored with the Mastery, Honor, Courage commemorative badge, the Golden Cross badge and the For Wounds medal.
Rivne oblast

Ternopil oblast
Military personnel are allocated UAH 15,000 for medical treatment and health restoration. In 2024, 295 military personnel received this assistance.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The 6th Ranger Special Operations Regiment unit received 20 Volkswagen minibuses. 80% of this assistance was provided by farmers from Khmelnytskyi oblast, another 20% by farmers from other oblasts of Ukraine.
Chernivtsi oblast
Over the year of the implementation of Mandrotherapy, over 1,000 wounded soldiers and veterans took part in the project’s activities. They traveled through Bukovina, learned about its culture, admired the landscapes, overcame obstacles in mountain hikes and river rafting, communicated with fellow soldiers and found true friends.
