Luhansk oblast

The situation on the Luhansk frontline remains extremely tense. Russian forces continue their relentless attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses, while a deepening humanitarian crisis unfolds in the occupied areas of the region due to the critical state of infrastructure.

According to Oleksii Kharchenko, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy launched 30 assault attacks in the area of Hrekivka over the past 24 hours. Ukrainian defenders are holding their positions despite heavy pressure from Russian troops.

“Our soldiers are firmly holding the line near Hrekivka. Over the past day alone, the occupiers carried out 30 assaults in this sector of the front,” Kharchenko reported.

In addition to ground assaults, Russian forces opened fire 30 times with artillery and conducted an airstrike. The battles also saw the active use of 28 combat drones and three FPV drones, indicating Russia’s continued reliance on unmanned systems in frontline operations.

Simultaneously, a major humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region. According to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, over 150,000 residents have been left without access to drinking water due to another breakdown in the water supply system. The affected population includes residents of Kadiivka, Brianka, Zorynsk, and nearby settlements.

According to regional authorities, these areas have been under Russian occupation since 2014, and nearly 80% of water infrastructure is now in critical condition. Over more than 11 years, the occupying authorities have failed to invest in the restoration of essential infrastructure, resulting in recurring system failures and the deterioration of living conditions for the local population.

Against the backdrop of constant military threat, Luhansk region is experiencing severe infrastructural decline — a reality that thousands of civilians are forced to endure daily. Ukrainian authorities emphasize the urgent need for international attention to the situation in this region, where the war is not only fought on the frontline but also in people’s daily struggle for basic living conditions.
