Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back russian occupiers’ advance. Terrorists continue to kill Ukrainians and destroy Ukrainian cities and villages.
On 7 August, the total number of combat engagements was 69.
Communities of the settlements of Riasne, Myropilske, Turyia in Sumy oblast; Vidrozhdenivske in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire. The settlement of Seredyna-Buda in Sumy oblast was hit by an airstrike.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian soldiers repelled seven enemy attacks. The invaders’ aviation carried out six strikes, dropping 16 guided bombs. In addition, the enemy carried out 214 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, including six from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked twice near Vovchansk, and one clash is currently ongoing.
Towards Kupianski, russian occupiers carried out six attacks in the vicinity of Myrne, Holubivka, Kindrashivka, and Zahryzove, and three clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out 15 attacks on Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Zelena Dolyna, Karpivka, Yampolivka, Kolodiazi, Torske, as well as near Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, and Olhivka. Seven clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Siversk, russian units tried to advance on the positions of Ukrainian troops four times in the vicinity of Hryhorivka and Fedorivka, and two clashes are ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy is trying to advance towards Novomarkove and Stupochky. Units of the Defense Forces repelled one attack, and the battle is ongoing.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy is trying to wedge into Ukrainian defenses in the area of Diliivka, Toretsk, Shcherbinivka and Rusyn Yar. Ukrainian defenders repelled four assault actions of the invaders, two more attacks are ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, russian occupiers made 24 attempts to push Ukrainian soldiers from the occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Poltavka, Boikivka, Mykolaivka, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Sukhetske, Lysivka, Zapovedne, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Zelenyi Kut and Horikhove. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 22 attacks.
Towards Novopavlivka, Ukrainian defenders stopped two assault actions of the enemy troops. The enemy tried to advance in the vicinity of the settlements of Filii and Tovste.
Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian units have repelled the invader’s attack towards Novodanylivka.
Towards Kherson and Huliaipole, the enemy did not conduct any offensive operations.
The Ukrainian Armored Vehicles company reports that Ukraine has launched mass production of a medical version of the Novator armored vehicle. It is designed for rapid evacuation of the wounded from combat zones or emergency situations, provision of primary medical care and the transportation of medical personnel.
Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, says that from September 1, all employees of the CCC and social support will be required to wear body cameras and record the delivery of summonses or the verification of documents on video.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
There were 147 combat clashes in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, there were four combat clashes near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, there were nine attacks by the invaders over the past 24 hours. The defense forces repelled enemy assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Nova Kruhliakivka, Holubivka, Tyschenkivka, Zahryzove, Kupiansk and Kurylivka.
Shelling
4 settlements were subjected to enemy attacks. 3 people were injured as a result of the shelling.
In the city of Kupiansk, a 45-year-old and a 55-year-old man were injured; in the village of Borova, an 86-year-old woman was injured.
A 75-year-old and 86-year-old women who were injured in the city of Kupyansk on August 5 also appealed for help.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in the Kharkiv region:

Donetsk oblast
Frontline
The General Staff reported that russian troops continue to press towards Siversk. Ukrainian defenders repelled eight attacks near Hryhorivka, Pereizne and Vyimka.
During the day, the russian army carried out the most assaults towards Pokrovsk — 38, more than 20 attacks were towards Lyman, more than 10 battles were recorded near Toretske and Novopavlivske.
Shelling
On August 6, the police recorded 3,449 shellings along the front line and residential sector.
12 settlements were hit: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Mykolaivka, the settlements of Oleksievo-Druzhkivka, Yarova, the villages of Bilokuzminivka, Znamenivka, Ivanopillia, and Sukhanivka.
86 civilian objects were damaged, including 66 residential buildings.
russians attacked Kostiantynivka with artillery, drones and Smerch MLRSs – a civilian was killed, two more were injured, 4 private houses and a civilian car were damaged.
In Belokuzmynivka, the occupiers shot a postal vehicle with an FPV drone – a woman was killed, the driver injured.
Three people were injured in Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka, which the enemy covered with Smerch MLRSs. 6 private houses, a civilian car and a moped were damaged.
russia dropped three KAB-250 bombs on Ivanopillia, 33 private houses were destroyed.
In Kramatorsk, a Gerbera UAV damaged an apartment building. In Sukhanivka, Kramatorsk region, 13 private homes and a car were damaged as a result of a drone attack.
Lyman withstood 7 attacks by drones and artillery, 6 private homes, a shop and three civilian cars were damaged. russian troops hit Yarova with GAB-250 and UMPB D-30 SN bombs – 2 private homes were damaged.
Critical infrastructure was damaged in Mykolaivka. In Znamenivka, Oleksandrivka community, a private home and 4 civilian cars were damaged as a result of a Gerber UAV hit.
In Dobropillia, enemy FPV drones damaged a private home and a garage.
Other
Kharkiv oblast police reports that Kyrylo Melashchenko, russian soldier from the lpr is suspected of kidnapping and killing children’s writer Volodymyr Vakulenko, as well as three other residents of Izium region. The text of the suspicion states that Melashchenko was among the occupiers who kidnapped, tortured and killed civilians during the occupation of Kapitolivka in the spring of 2022.
Activists of the Yellow Ribbon held a resistance action in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk oblast. Ribbons and stickers were distributed in four major cities of the region.
Luhansk oblast
The enemy increased the number of offensive actions towards Siversk to eight. It stormed Lyman 21 times. It tried to hit our positions with cannon and rocket artillery. In particular, it hit three times with multiple launch rocket systems. 37 times with cannon artillery. It used more than 80 drones and FPV drones there.
Crazy budget funds are being attracted in the so-called “lpr” to solve personnel problems in the medical sector. True, it doesn’t work out very well. This year they were going to invite 30 doctors and nurses from russia – only six agreed. In the next three years they are counting on 150 people – 50 each year. However, there are not enough people willing to go and work for five years in places half-destroyed by the russian army.
In occupied Lysychansk, the population complains about the poor work of all municipal services without exception. This also applies to removing household waste, which has not been collected from residential areas for months.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
In the capital, since 2022, 3,129 buildings have been damaged to varying extent by enemy shelling, with 2,134 of them being multi-apartment residential buildings, including the 957 damaged in 2025. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, the list of the most damaged apartment buildings, from which some residents had to be evacuated, currently includes 88 objects, 49 of which were damaged this year. Twenty-five significantly damaged buildings have already been restored, and work is underway on seven more.
The capital’s community has sent another 900 UAVs to the front lines for the soldiers of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among these are 800 FPV drones of various types and 100 Mavic 3E drones. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko. Reported that the Kyiv City Council has already allocated 6 billion hryvnias to support the Ukrainian military this year. The capital has sent almost 35,000 UAVs to the front lines for soldiers from various brigades.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has issued an indictment in absentia against two russian military officers who commanded the missile strike on the Kyiv TV tower in March 2022. According to the Security Service, the occupiers used TU-95MS strategic bombers to carry out the air strike on Kyiv and hit the TV tower with X-101 air-to-surface cruise missiles. Five passers-by were killed and six more wounded as a result of the enemy shelling. The technical premises of the television centre, apartment buildings and a sports complex were damaged.
On 8 August, Kyiv will hold a funeral service for journalist Viktoria Roshchina, who was tortured and killed while in russian captivity. The service will begin at St. Michael’s Cathedral at 12:00. A short civil ceremony will take place on Independence Square at 13:00, followed by burial at the Baikove Cemetery at 14:00. The funeral is being organised by Viktoria’s colleagues from several editorial offices with which she collaborated.
In the Vyshgorod district, major repairs are continuing on the bridge on the R-69 road, which was damaged in 2022 as a result of the full-scale invasion by the russian federation. It is planned to open for traffic this autumn, according to the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Kyiv oblast. The bridge is being rebuilt under a loan agreement with the United Kingdom.
Zhytomyr oblast
The President of Ukraine presented state awards to the servicemen of the Zhytomyr-based 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Polissia Brigade for their participation in combat operations during the Kursk operation. The Head of State thanked the soldiers for defending Ukraine along various sections of the front, particularly for the defense of Sumy region.
In Zhytomyr region, the first test flights of the innovative DRONE VOLT Hercules 20 unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with the Vmag magnetometric system took place. This system is capable of automatically detecting explosive objects in open areas. The information was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Zhytomyr region.
Forty-seven children from Zhytomyr region departed for rest and rehabilitation in the Republic of Poland. This trip became possible thanks to cooperation with local self-government bodies of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Regional Military Administration reported. The group includes children of combatants, children of fallen and missing servicemen, children from large families, and internally displaced children.
Sumy oblast
At around 10:30am on 7 August, russian forces struck Seredyno-Buda community by unguided aerial rockets. At least six residential buildings and several non-residential structures were damaged. An 88-year-old local woman was injured in the attack.
Serhii Kryvosheenko, Head of the Military Administration, reported that as of the morning of 7 August, 40 consumers in Sumy remain without electricity following a russian MLRS strike on Kovpakivskyi neighborhood the previous evening. Repair crews are working to restore power.
Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that in Vorozhbianska community, a 71-year-old man sustained shrapnel injuries and was hospitalized. On the evening of 6 August, russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in the community using two UAVs. A local industrial facility, post office, and several residential buildings were damaged.
At around 9pm on 6 August, russian forces launched an evening attack on Sumy community. At least seven residential buildings were damaged, and fires broke out in the summer house sector. In Kovpakivka region, additional damage was reported to homes, non-residential buildings, and a vehicle. A ruptured gas pipeline left several dozen consumers without gas supply.
Between the morning of 6 August and the morning of 7 August, russian forces carried out 80 attacks targeting 40 settlements across 17 territorial communities in Sumy Oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy launched nearly 30 strikes by guided aerial bombs, over 10 VOG grenade drops from UAVs, up to 10 MLRS attacks, and additional strikes using FPV-drones and other UAVs.
As a result of russian strikes over the past 24 hours, the following damage was reported in Sumy Oblast:
- In Nedryhailivka community – a civilian vehicle;
- In Vorozhba community – non-residential premises;
- In Sumy community – residential buildings, non-residential structures, a vehicle, and a civilian infrastructure facility;
- In Bilopillia community – a private home.
Over the past 24 hours, 13 people were evacuated from border communities in Sumy Oblast by local authorities in coordination with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and civil society organizations.
According to the Regional Police, in Sumy Oblast, ‘White Angels’ police unit evacuated a man with a disability from a frontline community. After a russian aerial bomb landed near his home, the 42-year-old resident of Mykolaivka community decided to leave. Previously, he had refused to evacuate despite the constant danger. Despite challenging conditions, law enforcement officers reached him promptly and transported him to safety.
According to the Regional Military Administration, Sumy Oblast has received seven vehicles from GIZ with support from German Embassy in Ukraine. The pickups and cargo vans were delivered to Bilopillia, Mykolaivka, Khotin, and Velyka Pysarivka communities. An additional five vans are expected soon.
Chernihiv oblast
Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Head of Koriukivka Regional Military Administration, said that at around 1:30am on 7 August, russian UAVs struck the town of Koriukivka in Chernihiv Oblast.
Ratan Akhmedov, Mayor of Koriukivka town, reported that during the night of 7 August, russian UAVs struck Koriukivka town in Chernihiv Oblast, causing damage to three apartment buildings and around ten public facilities, including two critical infrastructure sites—one of which was destroyed. Schools, a kindergarten, a historical museum, a cultural center, and commercial properties were also damaged.
‘North’ Operational Command informed that during the night of 7 August, explosions caused by russian Shahed drones were reported Novhorod-Siverskyi town and near a village in Chernihiv region.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, on 6 August, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv Oblast — Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. A total of around 30 strikes were recorded across seven settlements. The enemy used mortars (3 explosions), FPV-drones (7 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (17 explosions).
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that at night, the enemy launched a massive drone attack on the oblast. Air defence forces shot down 33 enemy UAVs. As a result of the attack on Dnipro, 4 people were injured. Several fires broke out. 12 vehicles were destroyed and 17 damaged. 9 private houses, an administrative building, garages and a business facility were affected. Explosions were heard in Pavlohrad. A summer house and a car were damaged there. A fire broke out in Kryvyi Rih, where a modular house caught fire. In Kryvyi Rih region, a non-operational building burned down. Attacks on Nikopol region continued. The enemy targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanets and Pokrov communities by drones and artillery. According to updated information, 3 people were killed yesterday evening: a 23-year-old rescuer and 2 civilians – a 62-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman. 4 rescuers aged 29, 35, 39 and 42 were wounded, along with a 49-year-old man. 8 private houses, a high-rise building, vehicles, infrastructure, an administrative building, a business facility and an educational institution were damaged. Synelnykove region was targeted. An educational facility, a private house and a vehicle were damaged.
The occupiers continued to attack Synelnykove region, hitting the regional centre and Mezhova community. Fires broke out and a 44-year-old man was injured. An administrative building and a vehicle were damaged. During the day, nearly 30 strikes were recorded on Nikopol region. The regional centre and Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrov communities came under attack by drones and artillery. A high-rise building, 2 shops, a garage, a minibus, a greenhouse, an outbuilding and solar panels were damaged. A drone struck Hrushivka community in Kryvyi Rih region, damaging infrastructure.
Poltava oblast
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the title Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star to Senior Lieutenant Ivan Kotelva Kozin. A year ago, the unit under the command of this soldier from Poltava oblast broke through the enemy’s front line in russia’s Kursk region, destroyed enemy fortifications and enabled the advance of Ukrainian forces deeper into russian territory.
Cherkasy oblast
In Talne, a memorial ceremony was held for defender Oleh Radchenko, who was killed in the war with russia. Since 2023, he had been considered missing in action. He was killed in combat in Donetsk oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian military struck Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia oblast, damaging a private house. A 71-year-old man was killed as a result of the shelling.
A 62-year-old woman was killed following a MLRS strike on Polohy region. A private house was destroyed.
In total, on 6 August, 3 people were killed and 13 injured in russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian forces carried out 723 attacks across the oblast, including 5 airstrikes targeting Kanivske, Kamianske, Malynivka and Olhivske.
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), on 6 August, artillery fire was heard near the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). The agency noted that it had previously reported explosions near ZNPP and their team had observed smoke rising from the surrounding area. Also, plant officials had reported an attack on an auxiliary facility.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, at 5:21am, russian troops shelled the waters of Ochakiv community.
On 6 August, the russian military launched 4 FPV drone attacks on Kutsurub community. As a result, a fire broke out in agricultural structures in Ivanivka village. There were no injuries reported.
Odesa oblast
According to the Ukrainian Navy, as of 7 August, 3 enemy warships are on combat duty in the Black Sea, none of which are carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles. 1 russian ship is currently deployed in the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
Yaroslav Shanho, Head of Kherson CMA, informed that as of 6pm, a total of 301 residents were evacuated from Korabel neighborhood of Kherson. Over 6 days, 1,226 people have been evacuated, including 56 children and 129 individuals with limited mobility. He noted that some evacuees have attempted to return to the neighborhood and urged them not to risk their lives.
The RMA reported that around 7am, russian artillery shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 71-year-old woman suffered blast trauma and a concussion.
Referring to the Air Force, russian forces launched 112 drones across Ukraine. Air defence shot down or suppressed 89 of them. There were confirmed strikes by 23 drones across 11 locations and drone debris fell in 3 areas.
According to the RMA, in Kherson, a 47-year-old man was injured overnight after stepping on a russian “petal” mine. He suffered explosive trauma, a concussion, a bone fracture and facial injuries. He was hospitalised.
Also, russian forces attacked Kachkarivka village in Kherson oblast by drones last night, damaging and destroying several houses. There were no casualties reported.
The Police reported that during the day, russian troops used aircraft, artillery, MLRS and drones to strike settlements across Kherson oblast. Law enforcement opened 28 criminal investigations under the article War Crimes.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 6 August, 8 people were injured in russian attacks on Kherson oblast. Damage was reported to 4 high-rise buildings, 8 private houses, a gas pipeline and a vehicle. The russian troops shelled 37 settlements.

Volyn oblast
The local fire brigade team of Lyubeshiv community of Kamin-Kashyr region received a powerful reinforcement – a fire truck and a motor pump from German volunteers.
Zakarpattia oblast
Uzhhorod became the tenth city of the large tour of the mobile FPV school Kill House from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade. Thanks to it, all interested civilians and even active military personnel had the opportunity to master the basics of piloting.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent an Autel quadcopter to the 63rd Brigade, and Mavic 3T and Mavic Fly More combo drones to the 78th Battalion.
Lviv oblast
Lviv oblast sent 180 ten-inch FPV drones to the front lines as part of the Birds of Victory charity project.

The RMA reported that over 400 children from frontline oblasts have already undergone rehabilitation in Rivne oblast as part of the Side by Side: United Communities nationwide project.

9 soldiers from Ternopil will receive UAH 15,000 each for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of 2025, 369 servicemen have already received such assistance
Khmelnytskyi oblast
A group of children of deceased servicemen from Khmelnytskyi oblast went to the town of Balatonfoldvar on Lake Balaton, Hungary. A rich program is planned for the children during the trip.
Chernivtsi oblast
Sokyrian City Council reported that combat medic Serhii Lysyyi has been awarded a badge by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
