Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Over the past 24 hours, 150 combat engagements were recorded along the front line.

Towards Southern Sloboda, russian forces made two attempts to breach the defences near Starytsia and in the direction of Kolodiazne.

Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers launched eight attacks in the area of Pishchane and towards Kivsharivka, Novoosynove, Petropavlivka and Kurylivka.

Russian troops destroyed the Dontsis-Zakharzhevskykh estate in Velykyi Burluk which is a 19th-century architectural landmark linked to the history of the village. According to local authorities, this was the first direct hit on the building itself, although strikes on the estate’s grounds had been recorded previously.

Rescue services received a report of the fire at around 12:40pm. It is believed that the russians struck the estate with two Shahed-type drones. The fire engulfed around 2,000 sq m and completely destroyed the wooden building. As of 2:30pm, there were no reports of casualties, and firefighting operations were ongoing.

Over the past 24 hours, Kharkiv and 12 settlements in the oblast have come under russian attack. Six people were injured as a result of the shelling.

In Kharkiv, men aged 56, 61 and 34, as well as two 67-year-old men, were injured. In the village of Kurochkyne, Kupiansk community, a 64-year-old woman was injured.

Medical staff also treated an 84-year-old woman who was injured on 30 March as a result of shelling of the village of Kolodiazne, Dvorichna community.

Russian troops attacked Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv with drones.

The occupiers used 11 Geran-2 drones, one Molniya, four FPV drones and 25 drones of an unidentified type.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged. In Kharkiv, four apartment blocks, a higher education institution, nine cars, power lines, a bus and a civilian enterprise were damaged.

In Bohodukhiv region, an apartment block, garages, private houses, a petrol station and an administrative building were damaged. In Kupiansk region, a car and a private house were hit, in Izium region – railway infrastructure, in Kharkiv region – two private houses and in Chuhuiv region – a farm, an apartment block and six private homes, as well as power lines.

The transit evacuation centre in Lozova received 196 people over the past 24 hours. In total, 26,989 evacuees have been registered there since it began operating.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff, out of the 150 attacks and assaults repelled by the Defence Forces on 6 April, more than a third took place in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Lyman, russian troops launched six attacks towards Lyman, Stavky, Novoserhiivka and Drobysheve. Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian forces repelled 31 assaults. Towards Oleksandrivka, the Defence Forces repelled 13 attacks, notably near Myrne and Oleksandrohrad.

Meanwhile, towards Pokrovsk, within the area of responsibility of the Taifun (Typhoon) special unit, a decrease in the intensity of artillery, air and drone strikes has been recorded. According to the military, this may indicate the redeployment of russian reserves to other sections of the front.

As a result of russian shelling in Donetsk oblast, one person was killed and 10 others were injured, including a child.

On 6 April, the police recorded 1,408 russian attacks along the front line and in the region’s residential areas. Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk, Bilenke, Oleksandrivka, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Raihorodok, Sviatohorivka and Iverske came under fire. 57 civilian facilities were damaged, 31 of which were residential buildings.

Russian strikes also targeted the region’s energy infrastructure.

The russians struck Sloviansk with Smerch multiple launch rocket systems — one person was killed and four others wounded, including a child. An apartment block, 13 private houses and eight cars were damaged.

Druzhkivka was attacked by two KABs and two FPV drones — four people were injured, and private homes, a farm building and a car were damaged.

In Kramatorsk, following three strikes (Smerch MLRS and FPV drones), one person was injured, and apartment blocks, private homes and civilian vehicles were damaged.

One person was injured in Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka.

In Mykolaivka and Iverske, two private homes were damaged each; in Raihorodok, one; and in Oleksandrivka, an infrastructure facility.

In addition, the White Angel crew evacuated an 84-year-old woman from Druzhkivka who was injured as a result of russian shelling. After a shell hit her house, she suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, lost consciousness and part of her memory, as well as the ability to walk. Following her hospitalisation, she was handed over to volunteers for further medical evacuation to the rear. An elderly couple and their pets were also evacuated.

Luhansk oblast

Over the past 24 hours, russian troops have launched 11 assaults on Ukrainian military positions towards Lyman and Sloviansk. The occupiers attempted to advance near seven settlements. In Luhansk oblast, they fired mortars six times, used barrel artillery four times and sent five drones towards Ukrainian positions.

The so-called “lpr Ministry of Internal Affairs” reported a sharp rise in the number of administrative offences in occupied Luhansk oblast. According to the occupying authorities, the number has tripled, with over 70% of cases linked to the display of Ukrainian symbols banned by the russians.

Residents of Lysychansk are complaining about the poor quality of housing repairs being carried out by contractors from the russian Federation. According to local authorities, the firm carrying out the work has only ten permanent staff, has no experience in housing reconstruction and has not even opened an office in the city.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to the State Emergency Service, fragments of a russian missile were found in a field of Kyiv oblast. They were located in an open area. Bomb disposal experts from the Kyiv oblast’s State Emergency Service unit surveyed the area and removed the dangerous objects.

The Department of Regional Development of the Kyiv Regional State Administration reported that major repairs are underway at the ‘Champion’ central city stadium in Irpin, which suffered serious damage as a result of russian armed aggression. The project is being implemented with the support of UNITED24. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 900 spectators.

The Regional Military Administration reported that the Bilohorodka community has received a fire ladder truck from its Austrian twin town of Korneuburg as part of expanding international cooperation.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the Regional State Administration, work is continuing in Korosten to clear up the aftermath of the russian strike on 3 April. Over 200 people and 30 pieces of equipment have been deployed for the work – local services, rescue workers, volunteers and charitable organisations have joined the effort. Assistance is being provided by local businesses and neighbouring communities. According to the results of a preliminary survey, 10 residential buildings are beyond repair, whilst a further 76 have been damaged

Sumy oblast

Over the past week, units of the Defence Forces in Sumy oblast destroyed and suppressed 944 enemy UAVs using electronic warfare systems. According to the Territorial Defence Zone Headquarters, more than 1,100 enemy UAVs were detected in the skies over the oblast during this period, 83% of which were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.

Mykola Noha, Head of Shostka community, reported that during the night, russian forces carried out an air strike on Shostka territorial community. An infrastructure facility was destroyed and three residential houses were damaged as a result of the attack. A significant number of households remain without electricity.

Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that on 6 April, two men were injured in Svesa community after their tractor struck an explosive device. The men, aged 53 and 48, sustained shrapnel injuries and were hospitalised. According to preliminary information, the explosive device had been dropped from a drone by russian forces.

On 5 April, in one of the villages of Svesa community, civilians encountered an explosive device while extinguishing a grass fire. A 52-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were killed at the scene.

As a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast on 6 April, a 63-year-old man was injured during an MLRS strike in Velyka Pysarivka community.

Medical facilities provided assistance to four more children injured in Sumy community following a UAV attack during the night of 4 April. These include girls aged 8, 8, 9, and 10.

Over the past day, from the morning of 6 April to the morning of 7 April, russian forces carried out nearly 60 attacks on 23 settlements across 14 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy, Shostka, and Okhtyrka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 16 hours and 46 minutes over the day.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

  • in Shostka community, private houses, a multi-apartment residential building, outbuildings, and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
  • in Esman community, private houses and outbuildings were destroyed;
  • in Shalyhyne community, a private residential house and outbuildings were destroyed, and a private passenger car was damaged;
  • in Znob-Novhorodske community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • in Okhtyrka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • in Trostianets community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • in Sumy community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.

Over the past day, eight people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organisations.

Hlukhiv City Hospital informed that doctors performed surgery on Yuliia Anfinohenova from Hlukhiv, who was injured in a russian drone attack. She fell into a coma following a UAV strike on the vehicle she was travelling in on 4 April. On 7 April, the 25-year-old nurse was transferred from intensive care at the city hospital to Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery in Kyiv.

In Konotop, a 10 kW wind generator will be installed near a hospital. It will form part of an alternative power supply system alongside solar panels and batteries. The project, valued at over UAH 2m., is financed by Czech humanitarian organisation People in Need.

Chernihiv oblast

Dmytro Fedorov, Head of Novyi Bilous community, reported that in Staryi Bilous, near Chernihiv, on 7 April two elderly women were injured as a result of a russian drone attack. At least 10 houses were also damaged.

Following a russian attack on the centre of Pryluky on 7 April, 15 people sought medical assistance, seven of whom were hospitalised. At least three enemy UAV strikes were recorded in the city between 10:10am and 10:30am. One of the drones struck the building of Pryluky City Council, while two others hit civilian administrative facilities. Among the injured were vendors from an informal market located near the administrative buildings. One woman remains in a critical condition.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on the morning of 7 April, russian forces attacked the building of the State Tax Inspectorate in the centre of the border town of Novhorod-Siverskyi by a UAV. The blast wave damaged the facades of nearby buildings and private vehicles.

At approximately 10:37am on 7 April, russian forces carried out an FPV drone strike on Semenivka town. The roof of a local house of culture was damaged as a result of the impact.

According to the City Council, on the evening of 6 April, russian forces attacked transport infrastructure in Snovsk by a UAV.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the course of 6 April, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Ripky. The enemy carried out shelling using mortars (13 explosions) and tube artillery (23 explosions), conducted UAV strikes of Herbera type (1 explosion) and Shahed type (2 explosions), and FPV drone strikes (10 explosions). Twelve settlements came under enemy attack.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Air defence forces shot down 24 enemy UAVs over Dnipropetrovsk oblast overnight.

A child was killed and 5 people injured as the enemy attacked 4 regions of the oblast.

Synelnykove region. In Pokrovske community, an 11-year-old boy was killed. 3 people were injured in a UAV attack: women aged 61 and 31, and a 33-year-old man. A private house caught fire. 3 more houses and a car were damaged.

Pavlohrad region. In Pavlohrad, UAV strikes injured 2 men aged 52 and 66. A fire broke out and an enterprise was damaged. In Bohdanivka community, power lines were damaged.

Nikopol region. The russian forces attacked the regional centre, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by FPV drones. A private house, an administrative building, vehicles and a power line were damaged. Evening attacks damaged a cultural centre and a power line.

Kryvyi Rih region. A UAV strike hit Apostolove community, causing a fire and damaging infrastructure.

The russian forces struck a passenger bus in Nikopol by an FPV drone. 7 people remain hospitalised and 9 received medical assistance on-site. 4 people were killed.

Nikopol region. According to the updated data, 17 people were injured in the morning bus attack. A 54-year-old woman later sought medical help. Another 59-year-old woman was injured in a daytime attack in Nikopol.

In Chervonohryhorivka community, a 67-year-old man was injured. 5 people were injured after a drone hit an intercity bus. Overall, russian forces attacked the regional centre, Marhanets, Myrove, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. Fires broke out. A sports school, 4 apartment buildings, 5 private houses and 7 vehicles were damaged.

Kryvyi Rih region. A drone strike in Zelenodolsk community damaged a house and equipment.

Pavlohrad region. A UAV attack in Yurivka community caused a fire and damaged infrastructure.

Kirovohrad oblast

In 2 communities of Kirovohrad oblast, residents paid tribute to fallen defenders: Serhii Ruskykh from Oleksandriia community and Oleksandr Tkachenko from Velyka Vyska community.

Serhii Ruskykh was killed on 6 November 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near Illinka in Donetsk oblast at the age of 39.

Oleksandr Tkachenko had been considered missing since 19 December 2024. DNA analysis has now confirmed his death.

Poltava oblast

Vitalii Diakivnych, Head of the RMA, stated that as a result of an attack on Poltava, private households were damaged. The blast wave damaged 4 residential buildings (windows and roofs), as well as the glazing of one country house and 2 outbuildings. No information about casualties or injuries has been reported.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that air defence forces destroyed 2 UAVs over Cherkasy oblast. There were no casualties or infrastructure damage reported.

In Palanka community, residents welcomed back defender Yurii Molochenko, who was released from russian captivity on 5 March 2026. On that day, 6 other residents of Cherkasy oblast also returned home.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that men aged 30 and 46 were injured as a result of a russian drone attack on Komyshuvakha. A 51-year-old man was injured due to a KAB strike on Tavriiske.

Oleksandr Hanzha, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, stated that 5 people were injured when russian forces hit a scheduled bus in Chervonohryhorivka community in Nikopol region. This was the second attack on public transport on 7 April. The injured include 1 woman and 4 men. Medical teams are providing all necessary assistance.

On the morning of 7 April, at least 3 people were killed and 16 injured as a result of a russian FPV drone strike on a bus in the central part of Nikopol.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that a 73-year-old man was injured in a drone attack on a vehicle in Lysohirka.

According to Dnipropetrovsk RMA, in the morning, russian forces shelled Bilenke village in Zaporizhzhia oblast by artillery. A 39-year-old man was injured. Residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged, and a fire broke out.

Based on the information provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 6 April, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 13 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. Combat engagements took place near Shcherbaky, in the areas of Olenokostiantynivka and Charivne, as well as toward Sviatopetrivka, Zaliznychne and Pryluky.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 6 April, russian forces carried out over 780 strikes on 43 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Referring to the Regional Police Department, on 6 April, a 73-year-old man was injured in a russian drone attack on Komyshuvakha.

Mykolaiv oblast

Relying on the information provided by Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 6 April, 5 Shahed drones and various decoy UAVs were shot down in the oblast.

On 6 April, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community 4 times by FPV drones. As a result of one of the strikes, 2 settlements were left without electricity. Power supply has since been restored.

Odesa oblast

According to the Air Force, a UAV was detected in the airspace, moving from the Black Sea toward Chornomorske.

Kherson oblast

Based on the information provided by Kherson RMA, at around 6pm, 2 medics were injured as a result of russian shelling in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 26-year-old male doctor and a 25-year-old female doctor were hit while returning home. They sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds.

At around 6:50pm, russian forces attacked an ambulance by a drone in the same district. 3 medics were injured: a 48-year-old woman and men aged 24 and 42. They sustained concussions, blast injuries and closed head injuries.

At around 1:30pm, a 28-year-old woman was injured during shelling of Korabelnyi district. She was hospitalised with a concussion, blast injury and closed head injury.

At around 10:50am, russian forces shelled residential areas in Korabelnyi district. As a result, 2 women aged 72 and 71 and a 60-year-old man were killed, along with another unidentified man. 3 injured people were hospitalised: women aged 71 and 57, and men aged 72 and 81.

At around 10:50am, russian aviation struck Stepanivka. A 52-year-old man was injured. A 66-year-old man sustained severe head and chest injuries. A 14-year-old boy with shrapnel wounds, concussion and blast injuries was hospitalised in moderate condition. Another injured person was a 71-year-old man. A 57-year-old resident was diagnosed with a concussion and blast-related injuries.

2 people sought medical assistance after being attacked yesterday at around 1pm by a russian Molniia-type UAV in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 38-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man came under the strike. Preliminary reports indicate they sustained blast injuries.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

DNA examination confirmed the death of Hero of Volyn oblast Pavlo Voytovych. The soldier was killed on 1 September 2025, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Mykolaivka, Donetsk oblast. For a long time, Pavlo was considered missing.

Zakarpattia oblast

The death of defender Maksym Abel from Vynohradiv has been officially confirmed. The sergeant born in 1986, who had been missing since 19 June 2025, was killed while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Nadiia, Svatyiv region, Luhansk oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, the Caritas CF held a 3-day training for veterans, active military personnel, and their families, aimed at supporting their adaptation to civilian life. The goal of the project is to help defenders find new opportunities for self-realization after service.

Lviv oblast

Over the past month, Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine has organized the transportation of 42 patients and 15 accompanying persons to medical institutions abroad. At the same time, 28 patients and 6 accompanying persons were returned to Ukraine after treatment. Within the framework of the MEDEVAC project, 40 trips were made during this period.

Rivne oblast

Rivne oblast has received another evacuation train from Donetsk oblast. This is the 5th one this year. 28 people arrived. Most were accommodated in Zdolbunivska, Buhrynska and Hoshchanska communities, 3 found housing on their own. Since the beginning of the year, Rivne oblast has received over 100 people on evacuation trains.

Ternopil oblast

The Army Aid from Ternopil set off on another trip to the defenders at the front. This time, the volunteers headed to Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. The vehicle is going to the front line equipped with the necessary things and equipment for the defenders, which were assembled in accordance with the requests of the unit commanders.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community received educational and cultural institutions received: a playground, school furniture (chairs, desks; chairs + tables for the teacher), smartboards, 182 tablets worth EUR 83,622 from partners from Dresden, Germany thanks to the project Strengthening the Capacity of Civil Protection and Reconstruction within Municipal Partnerships with Ukraine.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that the III degree Order of Bogdan Khmelnytsky (posthumously) was awarded to Captain Ihor Kolosnitsyn.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Jean-Noel Barreau, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, stated that the European Commission is ready to use alternative mechanisms to ensure that Ukraine receives the necessary funding on time, even if the main EU loan is not released by the end of April.
