Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:
Russian invaders continue to assault the positions of Ukrainian defenders. However, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
Since the beginning of the day, there have been 80 combat engagements.
Border settlements continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, including Popivka, Kucheriivka, Yasna Polyana, and Ponomarenky in the Sumy region. Additionally, an airstrike using unguided missiles targeted the settlement of Hremiach in the Chernihiv region.
Today, Ukrainian troops repelled two attacks near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv direction.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched two assault operations near Zahryzove but was repelled.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army attacked eight times near Nevske and toward Hryhorivka. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders are repelling five attempts by the occupiers to advance near Chasiv Yar, while three other clashes have already ended. The enemy also launched an airstrike on Kramatorsk.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked 18 times near Diliivka, Krymske, Ozarianivka, and Toretsk. Four combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, the occupiers have made 12 attempts to push our defenders out of their positions near the settlements of Promin, Nadiivka, and Andriivka. The Defense Forces are holding back the enemy’s pressure and have repelled 11 attacks, with one battle still ongoing. Sukhyi Yar was hit by guided aerial bombs.
Today, in the Novopavlivka direction, our troops repelled four enemy attacks near Kostyantynopil.
In the Huliaipole direction, the invaders continue their attempts to improve their position. Today, the Defense Forces repelled three attempts to advance near Pryvilne and Novosilka. Additionally, enemy aviation launched strikes with guided bombs on Huliaipole, Temyrivka, Zaliznychne, and Zelenyi Hai. Unguided missiles also hit Novopil.
At present, our troops are still repelling four enemy assaults in the Orikhiv direction. Overall, today, the occupiers have launched seven active offensives against Ukrainian positions near Mala Tokmachka, Nesteryanka, and Pyatykhatky. Stepover, Pyatykhatky, and Plavni suffered enemy airstrikes.
In the Siversk and Prydniprovske directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 Russian attacks, with 11 clashes still ongoing. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has launched 18 airstrikes, dropping a total of 23 guided bombs on our positions and settlements, as well as conducting 261 artillery shellings.
In other areas of the front, the situation has not seen significant changes.
Since the evening of March 5, Russia has attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 112 Shahed-type strike UAVs and decoy drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. A total of 68 drones were shot down, while 43 were lost from radar detection.
On the evening of March 5, Russia struck Kryvyi Rih, as reported by regional governor Serhii Lysak. The attack targeted a hotel, killing five people and injuring 32 others to varying degrees.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 16:00, Ukrainian troops repelled two Russian attacks in both the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions. Russian forces attempted assaults near Vovchansk and Zahryzove.
Shelling
At 05:31, the Kharkiv district, Derhachi territorial community, and the village of Slatyne came under Russian attack. As a result of the shelling, a private residential house and a car caught fire. A woman was injured, and a man was killed.

Around 03:50, debris from a “Geran” UAV damaged the roof, elevator shaft, part of the technical floor, and the facade of a multi-story residential building in Kharkiv. According to the Regional Military Administration, a fire broke out. Eight cars, windows in nine apartment buildings, and a nearby children’s educational institution were damaged.
The day before, at 17:30, Russian forces attacked the Bohodukhiv district, Zolochiv territorial community, in the village of Zolochiv. Two guided aerial bombs (KAB) struck an open area. No destruction or damage was reported.

At 15:00, the Kupiansk district, Dvorichna territorial community, in the village of Kolodiazne, was under Russian attack. Shelling damaged a kindergarten building.
At 13:20, the city of Kharkiv came under Russian attack. A “Molniya” UAV strike on the ground damaged a non-residential building, an outbuilding, and two vehicles.
At 12:07, the Chuhuiv district, Vovchansk territorial community, in the village of Buhaivka, was attacked by Russian forces. Shelling from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) set fire to structural elements of a destroyed residential building and an outbuilding.
At 08:15, the Bohodukhiv district, Krasnokutsk territorial community, in the village of Moika, was targeted in an open area. Fragments of a “Geran-2” UAV were discovered. No casualties or damage were reported.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
On the morning of March 6, Russian forces launched an assault near Chasiv Yar using armored vehicles, according to Oleg Petrasyuk, press officer of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. Fighting continues in urban areas.
The Toretsk direction remains the leader in the number of Russian attacks, with 21 assaults recorded near Toretsk, Dachne, Krymske, and Diliivka in the past day. On March 4, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 12 Russian attacks. Additionally, Ukrainian defenders stopped 18 Russian offensives in the Pokrovsk direction near Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Kotlyne, Kotlyarivka, Serhiivka, Bohdanivka, and Andriivka.
The Russian army has not captured the city of Toretsk—Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold the line. Russian troop losses are four times higher than those of the Ukrainian forces, according to Sviatoslav Lesiuk, deputy commander for personnel psychological support of the 1st Mechanized Battalion of the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Shelling
Nine private house facades were damaged due to Russian shelling of the Mykolaiv Starostyn District in the Kostiantynivka community, Donetsk region. No casualties were found at the site, reported Serhii Horbunov, head of the Military Administration.
On March 6, energy workers in Donetsk came under Russian shelling while performing scheduled work, according to DTEK. An aerial bomb exploded nearby, throwing the workers back with the blast wave. No injuries were reported, but a vehicle was damaged.
At approximately 10:05, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on the city, using three guided aerial bombs, according to the city council. The strikes hit an industrial area and civilian infrastructure, injuring two people. One of the impact sites in Kramatorsk was a civilian enterprise. The morning shelling damaged at least 17 residential buildings—nine apartment buildings and eight private houses—as well as two educational institutions, industrial facilities, and several vehicles.
Over the past 24 hours, police recorded 2,721 enemy attacks along the front line and on residential areas. Six settlements were under fire: Dobropillia, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Toretsk, and the village of Novoolenivka. A total of 18 civilian objects were damaged, including 12 residential buildings.
In Novoolenivka, Kramatorsk district, Russian forces struck with a “FAB-250” bomb, killing one civilian and injuring another. Ten private houses were destroyed.
In Dobropillia, Russian shelling injured two civilians and damaged a gas station, an administrative building, and two civilian cars. Another attack occurred overnight, damaging two private houses.
One private house was damaged in Pokrovsk and another in Myrnohrad.
In Sloviansk, a Russian drone damaged a sanatorium building.
Other
An additional 82 residents were evacuated from the Velikonovosilkivska, Hrodivska, Pokrovska, Kostiantynivska, Selydivska, Bilozerska, and Oleksandrivska territorial communities of Donetsk region. The evacuees were transported by train to Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, and other cities, according to Ukrzaliznytsia.

Luhansk oblast
The enemy attacked 10 times in the Lyman direction, using all available weapons, including multiple launch rocket systems. According to the Regional Military Administration (OVA), the occupiers fired 17 times from barrel artillery. Russian forces also deployed 218 UAVs for combat missions.
A total of 27 billion rubles in subsidies will be allocated to the occupied regions of Ukraine between 2025 and 2027 for the implementation of the “Tourism and Hospitality” project. The occupation authorities will independently determine the priority areas for tourism development. The plan includes creating conditions for car tourism and establishing tourist routes. This means travelers will have the opportunity to visit cities and villages destroyed by the Russian army or drive through streets of towns occupied 11 years ago, where drinking water is still supplied on a scheduled basis, often not daily, and industry has been almost completely destroyed.
The so-called “LNR” employment center is conducting career guidance activities for schoolchildren from Sievierodonetsk with representatives of the Russian army. These meetings are primarily organized for 9th and 11th-grade students. Representatives of the occupation employment center, along with invited Russian military personnel, are promoting what they consider the “correct” career choice—joining the Russian Armed Forces under contract.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
No smoldering hotspots have been recorded for several days on the roof of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant shelter, according to Victoria Ruban, spokesperson for the State Emergency Service of Kyiv region. However, rescue units remain on duty.
At a specialized site in Borodianka, where construction waste is processed, more than 4,300 tons of key components from the Makariv, Borodianka, and Hostomel communities had been processed by the end of 2024. The recycled materials are being transferred to communities for use in recovery and reconstruction projects. The necessary equipment for processing debris from destruction caused by Russian aggression was provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In the Nemishaieve community, capital repairs have been completed on a shelter in a kindergarten, according to the Regional Military Administration (OVA). The building of the “Dzwinochok” Child Development Center was damaged by a Russian missile strike in March 2022.
In the “Toronto-Kyiv” complex, which was damaged by a Russian missile strike on December 20, 2024, 90% of businesses have already resumed operations, according to the complex’s president, Yuriy Kryvosheya. However, the hotel, which suffered the most damage, has not yet reopened. In February, a conference hall named “Malevich” was launched in the hotel premises with support from Canadian partners.

Social housing for displaced persons in the Bucha community will be built in Myrotske and Blystavytsia, according to Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk. He stated that the main goal of the initiative is to provide housing for displaced persons, create jobs, and facilitate their integration into the community.
In February, the NGO “Ukrainian Women’s Guard” conducted a series of mine safety training sessions for students of Myrochansk Gymnasium. The children actively participated in the lessons, completed practical tasks, solved puzzles, and answered questions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine hosted the presentation of the documentary film “Return. Heroes on the Shield.” The film, focused on repatriation efforts, reveals the behind-the-scenes work of experts from the forensic research and criminalistics centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Nearly 200 participants gathered to discuss the return and identification of fallen Heroes. More than 30 Ukrainian and international media outlets were also invited to the presentation.
Zhytomyr oblast
Since the beginning of 2025, Zhytomyr region has allocated 33 million UAH to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. These funds were directed to the material and technical support of 25 military units, based on their specified needs, according to the regional military administration. Last year, more than 354 million UAH were allocated from the regional budget to support Ukrainian soldiers.
In Malyn, plans are underway to reconstruct the city council building, which was damaged three years ago by a Russian airstrike. Currently, a contractor is being sought to carry out the reconstruction, including thermal insulation and the establishment of a public service center on the building’s ground floor.
Sumy oblast
In Sumy, a “Shahed” drone strike by russian forces destroyed a Nova Poshta terminal. As a result of the attack, an employee of a contracting company was killed. Over 2,500 parcels stored in the terminal were burned, with a declared value of over UAH 3.3m. Nova Poshta is contacting customers to arrange compensation and is swiftly reorganizing parcel sorting and logistics.

Volodymyr Lukash, Head of Stepanivka community, reported that on the night of 6 March, a russian UAV struck a cemetery in Kosiivshchyna village, Stepanivska community. The attack damaged the graves of deceased residents and headstones.
Throughout the night and morning, russian forces carried out 26 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in a total of 56 explosions. The attacks included mortar shelling, MLRS strikes, UAV attacks, GAB strikes, and VOG grenade drops from UAVs. The affected communities were Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, and Velyka Pysarivka. In Sumy community, the UAV attack (3 explosions) damaged non-residential buildings and 20 vehicles, and one civilian was killed

Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that russian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to infiltrate Shostka region. Following a combat engagement, the russian forces retreated with losses.
Small groups of the russian army are attempting to gather and establish positions near the Ukrainian border in Sumy oblast, towards Novenke village. According to Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, the russian army is likely trying to reach the supply routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk oblast.
The “gray” zone has expanded in the area of Novenke villages in Yunakivka community and Zhuravka in Khotin community in Sumy oblast. This information is based on the Deep State map.
On 5 March, russian forces carried out 81 shelling attacks on Sumy oblast, resulting in a total of 135 strikes. The enemy used mortars (7 explosions), artillery (35 explosions), MLRS (20 explosions), FPV-drones (33 explosions), GABs (9 explosions), and dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (28 explosions). The affected communities were Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda..
On 5 March, russian shelling damaged a school building and an administrative facility in Shalyhyne community. In Myropillia community, a village cultural center and private residential houses were affected. Additionally, in Velyka Pysarivka community, one civilian was injured, and a private car was damaged.
Oksana Tarasiuk, the Acting Head of Shostka Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of 5 March, the russian army attacked Shalyhyne by drones. The drones struck a boarding school and the village council, causing a fire in the village council building, breaking windows, and damaging the roof. The boarding school was completely destroyed.

“White Angels” crew evacuated a woman from Yunakivka community. According to the National Police, Along with the resident, they also managed to rescue her cat. The day before, a 73-year-old man with limited mobility was evacuated from Sumy border oblast. The dedication and bravery of these crews are commendable, as they continue to save lives amid ongoing dangers.
Sumy Regional Military Administration confirmed that in February 2025, following a strike on a boarding school in Sudzha, residents from Kursk oblast were evacuated to Sumy oblast. The administration emphasized that the relocation of russian civilians was carried out voluntarily to comply with Ukraine’s adherence to international humanitarian law. For security reasons, the exact number and locations of the evacuees were not disclosed. The Ukrainian government is currently negotiating with the International Committee of the Red Cross to transfer these people back to russian territory.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that on 5 March, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy dropped explosives from UAVs (8 explosions), used FPV-drones (4 explosions), and fired mortars (12 explosions). Five villages were under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that 5 people were killed in a russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih. The occupiers hit a 5-story hotel building by a missile. 31 people were injured, including a 12-year-old girl. 14 people are hospitalised in serious condition. Rescuers saved 19 people, while 10 others received psychological assistance. The attack caused a fire, partially destroying the top floor of the hotel and the stairwell. 14 high-rise buildings, a post office, 19 cars, a cultural centre and 12 stores were damaged.
In the morning, the enemy continued attacking Nikopol region by artillery and kamikaze drones, targeting Marhanets community.

Vinnytsia oblast
Vinnytsia oblast will allocate UAH 10m to create a strategic drone reserve for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, informed that during the night, defenders in Cherkasy oblast shot down 4 russian UAVs.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that a 66-year-old man was injured in a russian attack on Huliaipole. The russian military attacked by an FPV drone while the man was working in his yard. As a result of the strike, he sustained injuries to his legs and head.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defense Forces on Orikhiv region repelled 4 russian attacks in the direction of Kamianske, Pavlivka and Lobkove. On the Huliaipole region, russian forces unsuccessfully attacked near Vilne Pole.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 5 March, russian forces carried out 440 strikes on 8 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Specifically, 245 drones attacked Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne and Novodarivka. There were no casualties reported.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv RMA, on 5 March, no shelling was recorded in Mykolaiv oblast.
Odesa oblast
Oleh Kiper, Head of the RMA, informed that russian forces attacked civilian and energy infrastructure in Pivdenne, injuring 2 people, one of whom was hospitalised. The attack destroyed a 2-story private house, damaged high-rise buildings, an auto repair shop, at least 15 cars and shattered the windows of an administrative building. An energy facility was also hit.
Referring to the Air Command South, air defence forces shot down 15 drones over Odesa oblast.
Kherson oblast
Based on the information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, during the day, russian forces attacked Beryslav by a drone, killing a man and a woman who were on the street.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, said that a 60-year-old man from Antonivka was hospitalised in Kherson after being wounded in a russian UAV attack. He sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that 2 more children – a 10-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl – were evacuated from the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson oblast.
During the day, russian forces shelled 27 settlements in Kherson oblast. A gas pipeline, 35 private houses and several cars were damaged. 1 person was killed and 4 injured.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
The Military Unit A1778 received 10 BEZPEKA PRO BPK-8 VERESEN-12 FPV drones, a Starlink satellite modem and an EcoFlow Delta-2 charging station from Lutsk community.
Zakarpattia oblast
The community of Uzhhorod received gratitude from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for supporting the defenders. In 2024, UAH 1m was allocated from the Uzhhorod budget to support the brigade.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent drones worth UAH 15m to the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis.
Lviv oblast
Recently, Novorozdil community hosted 13 children and 2 teachers from Nyzhnosyrovatsk community, Sumy oblast as part of the Side by Side: United Communities project.
Rivne oblast
Veteran sports are being developed in Rivne oblast. 24 sports facilities have already joined the Veteran Sports project. It is in these facilities that veterans can use the state-provided UAH 1,500 per quarter for sports adaptation.
Ternopil oblast
The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the U-LEAD with Europe Program. They discussed key aspects of public administration reform and decentralization, as well as project management in the context of modern challenges.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
37 Khmelnytskyi residents received material assistance worth UAH 1.6m. Among them are families of missing persons and prisoners of war (UAH 60,000 each), and Khmelnytskyi residents whose homes were damaged by russian terrorist attacks.
Chernivtsi oblast
As part of the Mandrotherapy project, defenders undergoing rehabilitation in Bukovina were given a tour of Chernivtsi. Participants had the opportunity to stop for photo shoots, chat, exchange thoughts, memories and share plans for the future.
90 servicemen, war veterans and IDPs who purchased housing within the framework of the state program e-Housing are receiving compensation for part of the interest rate on mortgage loans from the regional budget. Since the beginning of this year, such compensation has been paid in the amount of over UAH 813,000.
