It has been the 1382 nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

The Defense Forces are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory.

On 6 November, there were 77 combat clashes.

Communities of border settlements, in particular Kliusy, Halahanivka in Chernihiv oblast, were affected by enemy artillery fire.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy has carried out 72 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the Defense Forces repelled five attacks by enemy troops. The enemy is trying to advance in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Synelnykove and towards Izbitske and Kolodiazne.

Towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders six times in the vicinity of the settlements of Pishchane and Kolisnykovka, one combat clash is ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out nine attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units near the settlements of Hrekivka, Tverdokhlibove, Zarichne, Novoserhiivka, Novyi Myr and Stavye. Three combat clashes are ongoing.

Towards Slaviansk, the Defense Forces repelled six attacks. The invading units tried to advance near Yampol, Dronivka, Serebrianka, Siversk and Fedorivka, another combat clash is ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, there were no offensive operations.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the enemy carried out 14 assault operations in the vicinity of the settlements of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka and towards the settlements of Stepanivka and Berestok. One combat clash is still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 21 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their occupied positions in the vicinity of Nove Shakhove, Novopavlivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 20 enemy attacks, one battle is still ongoing.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy is trying to break through in the vicinity of the settlements of Yalta, Ivanovka, Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, Rybne and Danylivka. Our soldiers repelled five enemy assaults, two more attacks are ongoing.

Towards Huliaipole, there were seven combat clashes.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy made one unsuccessful attack in the vicinity of ​​Stepove.

Towards Kherson, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.

In the remaining areas, there were no significant changes.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

The General Staff reports that towards Southern Sloboda, the Defence Forces repelled five russian attacks. The enemy is attempting to advance in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Synelnykove, and towards Izbytske and Kolodiazne.

Towards Kupiansk, russian troops launched six assault actions in the directions of Pishchane and Kolisnykivka; one combat engagement is ongoing.

Towards Lyman, Novyi Myr was also under attack.

There were 184 combat engagements in the oblast.

Towards Southern Sloboda, there were ten combat engagements in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Prylipka, Odradne, and towards Izbytske and Lyman.

Towards Kupiansk, there were five enemy attacks. The Defence Forces repelled russian assault actions near Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, and towards Hlushkivka.

Shelling

Kharkiv city and six settlements in the oblast came under russian fire.

In Kapitolivka, Oskil community, two men aged 52 and 55 were killed as a result of shelling.

A Molniya-type UAV struck Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons across Kharkiv oblast:

  • 2 GABs;
  • 2 Geran-2 UAVs;
  • 3 Lancet UAVs;
  • 2 Molniya UAVs;
  • 1 FPV drone;
  • 15 UAVs (type being identified).

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:
▪️In Izium region, a private house and two cars were damaged (Izium city).
▪️In Lozova region, railway infrastructure was damaged (Nove village).
▪️In Chuhuiv region, a private house, garage and outbuilding were damaged (Korobchyne village);
▪️ In Berestove region, a private house was damaged (Katerynivka village).

Evacuation

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 73 people over the past day. 13 people currently remain. A total of 14,185 people have been registered at the Point since it began operating.

Donetsk oblast

Russian forces conducted 27 assaults towards Kostyantynivka over the past day, attacking near Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, Shcherbynivka, Kleban-Byk, Pleshchiivka and Oleksandro-Shultyne, the General Staff reports.

More than 50 combat engagements occurred on the Pokrovsk axis, and over ten attacks were recorded towards Lyman and Oleksandrivka. On the Sloviansk axis, russian troops are using poor visibility and fog to infiltrate between Ukrainian positions, according to senior sergeant Maksym Butolin of the 54th Brigade. Limited visibility also enables Ukrainian defenders to maintain frontline logistics without losses.

Ukrainian forces defending Pokrovsk are targeting russian troops on the approaches to the city, using strike drones and reconnaissance UAVs to disrupt enemy logistics, said senior sergeant Pavlo Soloviov (“Botsman”) of the 68th Brigade.

Colombian servicemember Osorio, who lost a leg in battle near Maiorsk, continues his service in the 117th Territorial Defence Brigade, repairing and maintaining drones. He documents the war and his life in Ukraine online and, having received a 10-year residence permit, hopes to remain in the country.

According to the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office, russian troops dropped an FAB-250 air bomb near a residential apartment building in Sloviansk. Six civilians — two men and four women — were injured in their homes, sustaining blast and shrapnel wounds.

On December 5, russian troops carried out 2,062 attacks on the front line and residential sector.

8 settlements were under fire: the cities of Bilozerske, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Sloviansk, the villages of Kryvorizhya, Rai-Oleksandrivka.

14 civilian objects were destroyed, including 1 residential building.

In Kostiantynivka, russians killed one person and wounded one with FPV drone strikes.

One civilian was killed in Lyman, an educational institution was damaged.

Druzhkivka was under attack by FPV drones – one person was injured, three civilian cars were damaged.

In Kramatorsk, russian troops struck with two Molniya-2 UAVs and an FPV drone – a civilian was injured, an educational institution, a gas station, and 2 buses were damaged.

A drone attack in Sloviansk damaged an administrative building, boiler room, civilian car, and a private home in Rai-Oleksandrivka.

Critical infrastructure was damaged in Belozersk.

Luhansk oblast

Ukrainian forces struck a metallurgical plant in the temporarily occupied city of Alchevsk, Luhansk oblast, where casings for russian shells were being produced. The General Staff reported confirmed impacts and a fire at the facility.

russian forces carried out 27 assaults on Ukrainian positions on the Lyman and Sloviansk axes, including 19 attacks towards Lyman. Fighting took place near Novovodiiane and Novoyehorivka in Luhansk oblast; the enemy conducted 12 artillery strikes and used drones 10 times.

In the so-called “lpr,” military enlistment offices have intensified recruitment campaigns targeting school graduates, promoting military contracts or admission to military academies as “career opportunities.”

Despite widespread internet shutdowns in the occupied Luhansk oblast, residents were told to watch local TV channels and listen to radio online — now available only within the russian internet space. For most people, who have little to no internet access, this is perceived as mockery.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that during the night the enemy launched a massive attack on Kyiv oblast with missiles and drones. Residential buildings, railway infrastructure, and business facilities were under attack. The consequences of the attack were recorded in four districts. Three people were injured.

In Fastiv, the enemy struck the railway infrastructure. The station was damaged. Long-distance trains will bypass the damaged section until it is repaired. Alternative bus transport has been organised for residents of the area. As a result of the russian attack in Fastiv, a man born in 1983 was wounded.

In Vyshhorod region, the enemy damaged seven private houses and a low-pressure gas pipeline. Three trucks were destroyed, and a fire in a warehouse localised. A woman born in 1979 was taken to a local hospital with shrapnel wounds to her arm, chest and back, and a closed injury to her cervical spine. Another woman, aged 40, suffered a laceration to her cheek.

In Bucha region, a private house and farm buildings were damaged.

In Bila Tserkva region, a fire broke out in a warehouse.

The protective structure at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, built to contain radioactive materials after the 1986 accident, is no longer able to fully perform its primary safety function. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), during last week’s inspection, experts examined the steel structure – the New Safe Confinement, completed in 2019. They confirmed that the drone strike in February, in the third year of full-scale war, had caused the structure to lose key safety functions, including its ability to contain radioactive materials.

Ukrzaliznytsia has resumed train traffic through the Fastiv station, which was hit by a massive enemy strike on the night of 6 February. All the work was completed quickly thanks to the efforts of railway workers – track layers, power engineers, communications specialists and other services.

One of the most important humanitarian and reconstruction projects has started in Bila Tserkva – the construction of a residential complex with 1,000 apartments for Mariupol residents who lost their homes due to the war. According to Kyiv Regional State Administration, the total area of the housing is over 46,000 square metres. They plan to build 16 buildings for about 3,000 people. The first stage is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

On 5 December, relatives of prisoners of war from Mariupol garrison gathered for a peaceful demonstration near the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv. Among their demands was to intensify efforts to secure the release of all held captive by russia, including those who are under investigation or have been convicted in russia.

Zhytomyr oblast

 The Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of 6 December, five private residential buildings were damaged as a result of an enemy attack in the Zhytomyr district. No information about casualties or injuries has been released.

In Zhytomyr, veteran paratroopers taught students of the patriotic education institution “School of Young Paratroopers” marksmanship, mine safety, tactical medicine, and the basics of drone control. Nearly 100 people took part in the two-day introductory course. This was reported by the Zhytomyr Regional Council’s Centre for Training Citizens for National Resistance.

In Zhytomyr, the MediDerm cosmetology clinic joined the Neopalymi project, which has helped 38 patients with complex injuries since 2022. As part of the project, which has been operating in Ukraine for over three years, experienced cosmetologists, plastic surgeons, dermatologists and other specialists help wounded military personnel and civilians, children and those who have been tortured in russian captivity to get rid of scars and injuries. 

Sumy oblast

On the morning of 6 December the General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled one russian attack over the past day. Enemy forces carried out two airstrikes, dropping a total of five guided aerial bombs, and conducted 198 attacks, including six by multiple-launch rocket systems.

The Regional Military Administration informed that at around 12:20pm on 6 December, a russian drone struck a civilian car in Krasnopillia community. Two men, aged 53 and 55, were injured. They were evacuated and taken to hospital.

In Vorozhba community, a Molniia UAV strike damaged a critical infrastructure facility. No casualties were reported.

Between the morning of 5 December and the morning of 6 December, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 29 settlements in 15 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used UAV strikes, multiple-launch rocket systems and FPV drones. Over the day, the air-raid alert in the oblast lasted 17 hours 25 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:

  • in Sumy community, an apartment building, non-residential buildings, private houses and cars were damaged;
  • in Vorozhba community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • in Bilopillia community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • in Seredyna-Buda community, a private household was damaged;
  • in Novoslobidka community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • in Velyka Pysarivka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that during the day on 6 December, the russian army attacked Budo-Vorobiivska village in Novhorod-Siverskyi community. An FPV drone strike damaged agricultural machinery.

In the morning of 6 December, russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in Semenivka town by three strike UAVs.

The City Council informed that in Chernihiv on 6 December, a russian drone crash was recorded. According to Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv Municipal Military Administration, a critical infrastructure facility was damaged as a result of the russian attack. A fire broke out and was extinguished. No casualties were reported.

The Regional Military Administration reported that over the past day, from the morning of 5 December to the morning of 6 December, the russian army attacked Koriukivka region. A 65-year-old man was injured when a strike drone hit an administrative building in the town of Mena. In addition, an FPV drone struck an energy facility in a village of Snovsk community, leaving several settlements without power.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that in Nizhyn region, an energy facility in Borzna area was hit. In Chernihiv region, a Heran UAV struck an energy facility in one of the communities. Overnight on 6 December, a drone hit a key heat-energy facility in Chernihiv. As a result, settlements in Chernihiv and Nizhyn regions were left without power, though some have already been reconnected.

According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, throughout 5 December, russian forces attacked Semenivka and three other settlements of the community. A total of nine FPV drone strikes and nine explosive-device drops from UAVs were recorded.

the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the criminal case concerning the shelling of a bread queue near a shop in Chernihiv on 16 March 2022 — in which 20 people were killed and 28 injured — has been sent to court. Earlier, three commanders of units of the russian armed forces were notified of suspicion in absentia. They include the commander of the 35th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army of the Central Military Region of the russian armed forces and two subordinate commanders of battalion tactical groups.

The Belgian government will finance the capital renovation of Chernihiv Regional Blood Centre. On 4 December, a memorandum was signed in Chernihiv with Ukrainian office of Belgian development agency Enabel, which is implementing the project. According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, the preliminary cost of the project is UAH 135m. and does not require co-financing from the oblast budget. During the meeting, the blood centre was also provided with a new vehicle for mobile teams.

Borysohlibskyi Cathedral in Chernihiv has been added to the International List of Cultural Property under Enhanced Protection. The decision was adopted on 4 December during a session of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. According to the Ministry of Culture, the total number of Ukrainian sites on the List has risen to 46, making Ukraine one of the countries with the largest number of cultural heritage properties under the highest level of international humanitarian-law protection.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipro Regional Council, reported that Air defence forces destroyed 40 russian UAVs over the oblast.
Dnipro region: Fires broke out in Dnipro following an attack. A private house and an outbuilding were damaged.
Nikopol region: The occupiers used drones, artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems against Nikopol, Myrove, Marhanets and Pokrovske communities. An 11-year-old boy was injured in Nikopol. Two other boys, aged 13 and 16, were evacuated by rescuers to safety. Three private homes, three outbuildings and a power line were damaged.
Kryvyi Rih region: Infrastructure in Zelenodolsk community was damaged.
Pavlohrad region: A garage, a car and an outbuilding caught fire in Pavlohrad due to a UAV attack.

Nikopol region: The enemy continued attacks on Nikopol, Myrove, Marhanets and Pokrovske communities. A market, five retail outlets, a bus, two bus stops, an apartment building, two private homes, a summer house, a gymnasium, enterprises, three outbuildings, a car and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Kryvyi Rih region: A drone strike on Zelenodolsk community damaged a farming enterprise.
Dnipro region: Updated information shows that three people — men aged 37 and 65 and a 75-year-old woman — were injured in the morning attack. One private house was destroyed, eight were damaged and two garages were affected.

Kirovohrad oblast

Novomyrhorod town, Novoukrainka region, paid tribute to Denys Seleznov, a soldier of the 56th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade, who was killed in Donetsk oblast at the age of 21.

Poltava oblast

An event titled “Do Not Be Silent, Captivity Kills” was held in Poltava. Relatives and loved ones of missing persons and prisoners of war from Mariupol garrison, as well as concerned residents of Poltava, gathered to attend.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported Fourteen russian UAVs were neutralised across the oblast.
According to preliminary data, in Zolotonosha region, blast waves damaged roofs and windows in at least two houses and five outbuildings.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a43-year-old police officer was wounded as a result of a russian attack on Polohy region. The enemy struck the road near Vozdvyzhivka by drones. The injured man received all necessary medical assistance.

Overnight, russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia oblast. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties reported.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 5 December, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 25 russian attacks in Orikhiv, Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka regions.

Russian forces carried out 729 strikes on 25 cities and villages of the Zaporizhzhia region over the past day, 5 December. These included four missile strikes on Znachkove; Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, stated that air strikes on Mahdalynivka, Kosivtseve, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Pryluka, Luhivske and Ternuvate; multiple attacks carried out by MLRS, artillery and drones.

Mykolaiv oblast

Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, on 5 December, russian forces attacked Ochakiv community 3 times by FPV drones. There were no injuries reported.

Odesa oblast

Referring to Odesa RMA, during the night, russia attacked Odesa oblast: an energy facility was damaged but did not catch fire. There were no casualties or injuries reported. Power and heating supply disruptions were recorded. Specialists are working to eliminate the consequences. Critical infrastructure has been switched to generators and 9 Invincibility Centres have been deployed to support the population.

During the night attack, russia struck infrastructure at Pivdennyi port. Energy facilities were hit and infrastructure and administrative buildings were damaged. There were no casualties or injuries reported.

the Southern Air Command reported that overnight russia launched 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles toward on Odesa region. In south of Ukraine, air defence forces shot down or suppressed 3 Kalibr cruise missiles and 28 drones.

Kherson oblast

The State Emergency Service reported that in Kherson, russian attacks caused fires in apartments, the roof of a 2-storey building and an outbuilding. Despite repeated strikes, rescuers extinguished the fires. They saved a person who was inside one of the homes and handed them over to medics.

According to Kherson RMA, around 11:30am, russian troops shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 62-year-old man sustained a concussion, a leg fracture, an explosive injury and a closed craniocerebral trauma. He was hospitalised in moderate condition.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that during the day, russian forces shelled 28 settlements in Kherson oblast. 1 person was killed and 2 wounded. Damage was recorded to a high-rise building, 3 private houses, a cell tower, a farming enterprise, a post office, trolleybuses and private vehicles.

2 boys aged 10 and 11 were evacuated from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson oblast. They are now safe and receiving necessary assistance. Since the beginning of the year, 265 children have been evacuated from the temporarily occupied left bank of the oblast.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

In the airspace of Volyn oblast during an air alert, the Security and Defense Forces recorded 22 enemy Shaheds, of which 11 were destroyed. There are hits on civilian enterprises in the territory of Lutsk. There are also fires from falling debris: a warehouse building in the territory of Lutsk and a residential building in Lutsk region. There are no casualties. All relevant services are working at the sites of hits and falling debris.

Zakarpattia oblast

The regional leadership held a meeting with Andrey Horvath, Deputy Director of the U-LEAD with Europe Program. They discussed the development of cross-border cooperation, EU grant instruments, the Carpathian Integration Initiative and regional planning.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

A charity event Fashion Show Fall–Winter 2026, was held in Ivano-Frankivsk, during which over UAH 120,000 was raised. The aid was sent to provide the military with the necessary supplies in Kupiansk and Kherson region.

Lviv oblast

This night, the enemy attacked critical energy infrastructure in Lviv oblast with combat drones and cruise missiles. In the village of Silets, Sheptytskyi region, a private house caught fire due to falling debris. According to preliminary information, 2 people were injured. At least 3 more houses in this village were damaged.

Rivne oblast

A council of volunteers was created at Rivne RMA. The RMA signed a corresponding order. It included representatives of civil society institutions, as well as structural divisions of the regional administration.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that 3 children and 5 adults who are in serious condition in city hospitals, with injuries as a result of the 19 November missile attack on the city, will be able to receive a one-time cash assistance of UAH 50,000 each.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

During the night attack in the oblast, 4 Shahed UAVs were shot down/suppressed. There were no fatalities, injuries or damage.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi City Council reported that keys to the service apartments were handed over to the military units of Chernivtsi community.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Ukrainian delegation met with US representatives for the sixth time. Negotiators discussed the results of the recent meeting between the US and russia and steps that could lead to an end to the war, according to a joint statement. They also agreed on a framework for security arrangements.
