On 5 July, there were 91 combat clashes on the frontline.
Communities of border settlements suffered from enemy artillery fire, in particular Semenivka in Chernihiv oblast; Baranivka, Marine, Uhroidy, Rivne in Sumy oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were 15 combat clashes. In addition, the enemy carried out four airstrikes, dropping 10 guided bombs, and also carried out 121 shelling of the positions of our troops and settlements, in particular five from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the Defense Forces repelled two attacks by enemy troops. The enemy is trying to advance in the vicinity of Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the russian occupiers twice tried to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of the settlements of Holubivka and Kolodiazhi.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out 15 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units near the settlements of Novoiehorivka, Hrekivka, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Myrne, Torske, and Hryhorivka, and three clashes are ongoing.
Towards Siversk direction, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders three times in the vicinity of Verkhnokamiansk and Ivano-Darivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack in the vicinity of Bila Hora in the direction.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy carried out two assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Toretsk and Rusyn Yar. One battle is still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the russian invaders made 30 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Poltavka, Malinivka, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Shevchenko, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Muravka, Novopavlivka, Alekseivka and in the areasvicinity of Volodymyrivka, Serhiivka and Pokrovsk. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelling 25 attacks, five clashes are ongoing. Enemy aviation dropped aerial bombs on Pokrovsk.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of the settlements of Zirka, Tolstoy, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, and Novopil. The defense forces repelled four enemy assaults, five more attacks are ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Malinivka seven times. Five clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Kamianske four times.
Towards Kherson, Ukrainian soldiers repelled one attack. The aggressor’s aircraft carried out an airstrike in the vicinity of Olhivka.
In the remaining directions, there were no significant changes.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reports that as a result of the russian strike on Kyiv on July 4, the death toll increased to 2.
the Air Force informs that on the night of July 5, russia attacked the territory of Ukraine with 322 UAVs. 292 UAVs were neutralized.

Shelling
Over the past day, 6 settlements were subjected to enemy attacks.
As a result of the shelling, 1 person was killed, 15 were injured, including 2 children.
In the city of Chuhuiv, 11 people were injured, including a 10-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl; in the city of Kupyansk, a 55-year-old woman was killed, a 61-year-old and 70-year-old woman, and a 56-year-old and 57-year-old man were injured.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in the Kharkiv region:

In Chuhuiv region, a dormitory, a service station, 10 cars, postal infrastructure, and an inoperative building were damaged.
2,746 apartments and houses were purchased by residents of Kharkiv oblast under the state program eReconstruction. The cost of the purchased housing is over UAH 4.8 billion.
Donetsk oblast
On July 4, police recorded 2,537 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector.
13 settlements were under fire: Bilytske, Dobropillyia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Sloviansk, the villages of Andriivka-Klevtsove, Zapovedne, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, and Torske.
24 civilian objects were destroyed, including 8 residential buildings.
russians shelled Kostiantynivka with two GAB-250 bombs, a drone, and artillery – killing a civilian, damaging 2 private homes, and an enterprise.
One person was killed as a result of the shelling of Torske Lymancommunity.
The enemy struck Kramatorsk with Tornado-S MLRS and UAVs – two residents were injured, an educational institution, 2 cars, and a waste processing plant were damaged.
In Pokrovsk, two civilians were injured and a car was damaged.
In Dobropillia, russian drones attacked an enterprise and a private house. In Rodynske, two FPV drones damaged 2 apartment buildings. In Bilytske, drones damaged a critical infrastructure facility. In Zapovidne, Shakhivka community, a private home was damaged.
russian troops sent two Molniya-2 UAVs to Slaviansk, damaging 2 private houses. The occupiers covered the estuary with Smerch MLRSs – a bus station and a store were destroyed.
In Druzhkivka, 10 hectares of wheat were destroyed by a Molniya-2 UAV. In Rai-Oleksandrivka, 2 private houses and a shop were damaged.
russia dropped a D-30SN UMPB bomb on Andriivka-Klevtsove, destroying a critical infrastructure facility.
Luhansk oblast
📌Towards Lyman, the occupiers are trying to advance, without reducing the attacking pressure on this section of the front. Over the past day, they stormed near Nadiia, Hrekivka and Dibrova. They had significant artillery support, opened fire 30 times from the appropriate type of weapons. The russians’ combat missions were carried out by 74 drones and six fpv drones.
📌In the so-called “lpr” there remains an acute shortage of bus drivers – both urban and intercity. Men do not want to get a job due to the threat of being forcibly mobilized, as well as due to low salaries. A further reduction in passenger transportation is expected. Among the options for correcting the situation, the occupiers chose the most unpopular one, deciding to increase tariffs on intercity routes from July 14.
📌In Kreminna, the invaders are not restoring electricity and gas supplies. Despite requests, they do not provide the population with any information about the timing of repairs, citing, as in other cities where they are not doing anything, the security situation. Therefore, it is unknown under what circumstances local residents will face the next autumn-winter period.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Regional Military Administration reported that another attack by enemy UAVs on Kyiv oblast happened overnight. In the Boryspil district, a russian attack damaged a school building, a boiler room, a shop, a cultural centre, a private house, and a car. Doors and windows were smashed, and facades damaged.
Mayor Vitalii Klychko stated that the number of victims of the russian attack on Kyiv on 4 July had risen to two. A 25-year-old man who was in critical condition died in a hospital in the capital. Rescuers found the body of the first victim yesterday in a damaged non-residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the city.

In Solomyanskyi district of the capital, enemy attacks damaged 742 windows. Rubble removal is underway. As of 18:00 on 4 July, municipal workers had removed 40 tonnes of construction waste. Residents of damaged buildings submitted 152 applications for one-time financial assistance, five residents applied for compensation for rental housing, and two families applied for resettlement.
On the evening of 4 July, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that nine buildings and 1,268 windows were damaged in Svyatoshynsky district. Six pieces of equipment are involved in clearing up the aftermath of the strike. The removal of construction debris is ongoing. One hundred and fifty residents have applied for one-time financial assistance, and one person -for assistance with renting accommodation.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine informed that on 4 July, following heavy enemy shelling, rescuers from Kyiv oblast assisted in clearing debris alongside their colleagues from Kyiv.

The third Protasiv Yar Festival, dedicated to the memory of Roman Ratushny, a social activist and scout of the 93rd Brigade ‘Kholodny Yar,’ is taking place in Kyiv on 4–6 July. The main goal of the event remains unchanged: promoting contemporary and traditional art, Ukrainian history, human rights initiatives, and honouring the memory of the hero.
Mayor Oleksandr Markushin announced that renovation work is being completed at the new medical centre in Irpin, equipment is being connected, and patient rooms are being furnished. The medical centre will become a key facility in the Kyiv oblast’s healthcare system, with modern medical facilities and European standards for patients.
Zhytomyr oblast
The brigade’s communications department reported In Zhytomyr, paratroopers from the 95th separate airborne assault brigade of the Polissya Brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who demonstrated courage and endurance during combat operations against the russian army, received decorations. The servicemen were presented with the decorations by the brigade commander, Colonel Ruslan Maryshev.
The city council reported that on 4 July 2025, Zhytomyr’s St. Michael’s Cathedral held a funeral service for 40-year-old Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Vasyl Horbatyuk. He went to defend Ukraine from the russian army in the first days of the full-scale invasion. Vasyl died on 28 June 2025 while performing a combat mission on the front line.
Sumy oblast
The General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 russian attacks yesterday. Enemy forces also carried out 13 airstrikes, using 32 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 290 shelling attacks, 9 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.
During the day from the morning of 4 July to the morning of 5 July, russian forces carried out nearly 120 shelling attacks on 32 settlements across 12 territorial communities in the oblast. The most intense shelling was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (over 20 hits), NURS-type rockets (20 hits), dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (30 hits), and multiple launch rocket systems (10 hits), as well as conducted FPV-drone and UAV strikes.
On 4 July, as a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast:
- In Znob-Novhorod community, an administrative building and two utility structures of a medical facility were damaged;
- In Vorozhba community, a private house and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, one private house was destroyed and others were damaged;
- In Sumy community, private houses and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Druzhba community, a passenger car was damaged.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organizations from border communities, evacuated 9 people.
In Sumy oblast, the White Angels evacuated a family that is leaving their home for the second time due to the war. According to the Regional Police, the family first fled from Makiivka in Donetsk oblast back in 2014. The team evacuated 89-year-old Pavlo Hryhorovych, who is mobility-impaired, along with his son Volodymyr and two grandsons — 19-year-old Pavlo and 13-year-old Bohdan.
Denys Naumov, Regional Evacuation Coordinator for Sumy and Chernihiv, informed that over the past week, the Proliska humanitarian mission evacuated four families with children in Sumy oblast. He noted that the pace of evacuation has slowed down due to the stabilization of the front line.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that russian troops struck a border village in Novhorod-Siverskyi community by an FPV-drone. A 49-year-old civilian man from Sumy oblast, who was delivering mail, sustained shrapnel injuries. The vehicle was damaged in the attack, and the man is currently hospitalized.
Ihor Yaros, Director of Network Development at Ukrposhta in Chernihiv oblast, reported that on 4 July, a drone strike hit Hremiach village, located just two kilometers from the russian border, injuring Valerii Vynokurov, the driver of Ukrposhta’s 109th mobile post office. According to him, two mobile post offices travel to remote border villages where shops no longer operate and there is no communication.
The Regional Military Administration informed that over the past day, the aggressor carried out 28 strikes on 15 settlements in the oblast. As a result of the shelling, homes, an administrative building, and utility structures were damaged or destroyed in Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka communities.

According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, on 4 July, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (1 explosion) and barrel artillery strikes (7 explosions), launched aircraft-type UAV Molniya attacks (2 explosions), FPV-drone strikes (10 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (18 explosions). As a result of the shelling in the city of Semenivka, six residential buildings and the city council’s administrative office were damaged.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of DOC, reports that as a result of the attack in Dnipro region, three people were injured and 5 summer houses were damaged. The enemy army struck the Mezhova and Slovianska communities of Synelnykove region with drones. A fire broke out in the field, and a car was damaged. From evening to morning, the occupiers continued to strike at Nikopol region – mainly using drones, and also shelling with artillery. They targeted the district center, Marhanetsand Myrove communities. A 43-year-old man was injured in Nikopol. A hairdresser’s, a private home, an outbuilding, 2 cars and infrastructure were damaged. According to updated information, an agricultural enterprise was damaged due to the evening attacks in Pokrovske.
The occupiers struck at Nikopol region with drones and shelled with artillery. They targeted the regional center, Marhanets and Pokrovske communities. A 39-year-old woman was injured. A high-rise building, 2 private houses, an outbuilding, and more than 30 solar panels were damaged.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andriy Raykovych, Head of Kirovohrad RMA, says that at night, the defense forces shot down russian UAVs in the oblast.
Poltava oblast
Another prisoner exchange took place. This was reported by the Poltava OVA. Previously, two people from the Poltava region were among the released.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, says that at night, the defense forces shot down 13 russian UAVs in Cherkasy oblast.
A charity race “I’m Running for Mirosh” was held in Cherkasy in honor of the deceased soldier Kostiantyn Miroshnychenko. About 150 people took part in the race.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 5 July, the Ukrainian Defence Forces in Orikhiv region repelled 4 russian attacks near Kamianske. The russian troops launched 7 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Malynivka, with 5 combat engagements still ongoing.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on 4 July, russian forces conducted 469 attacks across 11 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast, including 279 drone strikes (mostly FPV drones) targeting Chervonodniprovka, Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Charivne.
A 10-year-old boy was injured in a russian shelling in Vasylivka region.
The General Staff added that on 4 July, the Defence Forces in Orikhiv region repelled 3 russian attacks near Kamianske and Nove Andriivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, on the morning of 5 July, russian forces repeatedly shelled Kutsurub community by artillery.
On 4 July and the morning of 5 July, russian troops attacked the waters the Ochakiv community by drones and artillery. There were no casualties reported.
Air defence units shot down 8 Shahed drones over the oblast on 4 July.
On 4 July, artillery shelling and an FPV drone strike hit Kutsurub community. In Dmytrivka village, a fire broke out in dry grass and a private house’s roof was damaged.
Odesa oblast
According to the Ukrainian Navy, as of today, the russian navy deployed 1 missile carrier to combat duty in the Black Sea, equipped with up to 6 Kalibr cruise missiles. No Russian ships were reported in the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
Relying on the information provided by Kherson Regional Military Administration, a 21-year-old resident of Kherson was injured by a russian drone strike today. She was diagnosed with a blast injury and concussion.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, in the morning, russian artillery struck Novodmytrivka, killing 1 woman and injuring another, who were both outside during the shelling.
As reported by the CMA, around 6am, russian troops attacked a 24-year-old woman in Kherson by a drone. She was hospitalised in moderate condition.
Overnight, russian forces struck Tsentralnyi district of Kherson. One shell hit an educational facility, damaging the roof, ceiling and windows.
Vitalii Shanko, Head of the CMA, confirmed that a 57-year-old man was killed by a russian drone strike the previous day in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson.
Referring to the RMA, the Ukrainian Red Cross installed 3 additional mobile shelters in Kherson, specifically near State Emergency Service locations. In total, 55 such shelters have been deployed on the right bank of Kherson oblast.
The SES stated that due to russian attacks, a wildfire broke out in the National Nature Park of Beryslav region, burning almost 3ha. Fires affected a gas station, buildings, a non-residential structure and a garage in Kherson oblast, all of which were extinguished by emergency services.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that on 4 July, 11 people were injured in russian attacks across Kherson oblast. Damaged infrastructure includes gas stations, a gas pipeline, 2 high-rise buildings, 26 private houses, a garage and multiple vehicles. The russian forces shelled 48 settlements.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Soldiers of the 100th Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine evacuated a family from a frontline village. Soldiers of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion took a 2-year-old girl Nadiika, her mother, grandparents and great-grandmother to a safe area. The people took 2 dogs with them. To protect people, the evacuation took place in an armored vehicle. The brigade added that the family had already found housing in a safe place.
Zakarpattia oblast
The open all-Ukrainian adaptive sports tournament Carpathian Challenge has started in Uzhhorod. This is a landmark sporting event that brought together participants from different parts of Ukraine – veterans, military personnel who were injured during hostilities, and volunteers.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk is among 15 oblasts that have joined the creation of a strategic reserve at the initiative of Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine. Together with other oblasts, over UAH 350m have already been collected, for which 3,200+ drones, 420+ batteries and charging stations, and 180+ electronic warfare equipment and complexes have been purchased.
Lviv oblast
Information stands with biographies of Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine can now be seen not only on Rynok Square, but also at Lviv Railway Station. This way, residents and guests of the city can learn more about each of the soldiers and honor their memory.
During a volleyball match, students, teachers, and employees of Drohobych Mechanical and Technological Vocational College raised over UAH 6,000. With these funds, they purchased goodies and created support packages for soldiers.
The RMA reported that Truskavets community sent 4 Mavic 3 UAVs to community soldier Vasyl Tymchyshak, who performs combat missions as part of the 3rd Battalion of the 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade.
Rivne oblast
The Air Defense was operating inRivne oblast at night. Thanks to the professional actions of the military, enemy air targets were shot down. People and infrastructure were not harmed. Representatives of the Defense Forces and other services are working at the scene.
Ternopil oblast
41 servicemen from Ternopil community will receive one-time financial assistance to purchase necessary equipment and technical means. In total, 2,143 soldiers have already received such assistance since the beginning of the year.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The military received 2 robotic ground complexes created as part of the grant support program for innovative defense projects. Assistance was provided by Khmelnytskyi community.
Chernivtsi oblast
On July 3-4, representatives of the city councils of Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Poltava and Sheptytsk visited Chernivtsi. The meeting was held within the framework of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative Cities of Integrity Component.
International support for Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war (Russian invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine can now export more electricity to the EU. According to the report, this is the result of cooperation between transmission system operators of Eastern European countries and the TSCnet coordination center.
Democrats in the US have announced the launch of an investigation into the 5-month pause in imposing new sanctions against russia during the Trump presidency. Since the start of Trump’s second presidential term in January 2025, the United States has not imposed any new sanctions against russia, and in some cases has even relaxed existing restrictions.
