For more than a year, the occupation authorities of Sievierskodonetsk pretended to be preparing the city for winter. Large-scale excavation works were carried out on most streets, after which, as promised to the locals, the installation of a centralized heating system was to begin. Two months ago, in December 2025, the excavation works intensified, because it was necessary to report to Luhansk by the New Year. Currently, most of the trenches that were prepared for laying pipes are simply being buried. The demonstration restoration is over.
There are many destroyed and damaged houses in Lysychansk. However, contractors are taking on the task of restoring the surviving ones, because the work costs the same, and its volume in this case is much smaller. The quality does not improve from this either. For example, the roof was dismantled from one of the high-rise buildings that did not require repair, leaving the object in this form for the winter. The apartments in which locals lived before the start of the demonstration restoration are now flooded.
