War in Ukraine today: latest news, 03 April 2025 (photo)

It has been the 1135 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:

Since the beginning of the day, 62 combat engagements have taken place on the frontline. Our defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines, and disrupting Russian plans. At the same time, the occupiers continue to concentrate their efforts on the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions.

Russian artillery shelling today affected the settlements of Popivka and Stepok in the Sumy region. Airstrikes targeted Stepok, Myropilske, Pokrovka, Petrushivka, and Velyka Pysarivka in the Sumy region.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy launched one attack on our defenders’ positions near Kamianka since the beginning of the day.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made two unsuccessful attempts to advance toward our fortifications near Zahryzove.

The enemy attacked our positions five times in the Lyman direction, near the settlements of Hrekivka, Nove, and toward Novomykhailivka and Zelena Dolyna. Currently, two combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, the Defense Forces repelled five enemy assault actions near Verkhnokamianske and toward Ivano-Darivka and Vyimka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, our defenders successfully repelled an enemy assault toward Predtechyne.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy launched 13 attacks on our positions in the areas of Dachne, Druzhba, Diliivka, Toretsk, and Leonidivka. Four combat engagements are still ongoing.

High enemy activity is currently observed in the Pokrovsk direction. Today, 22 clashes of varying intensity have been recorded here. Ukrainian warriors have repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Novokalynove, Tarasivka, Yelyzavetivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Andriivka, and toward Romanivka and Oleksandropol. Ten of these engagements are still ongoing. Our defenders are giving the occupiers a worthy fight, and the battles continue.

The invaders attempted to break through four times in the areas of Rozlyv and Konstantynopol in the Novopavlivka direction; the battles are still ongoing.

In the Hulyaipole direction, the aggressor carried out an airstrike with unguided aerial rockets on Novopil but did not conduct active offensive actions.

Fighting continues in the areas of Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, and Kamianske in the Orikhiv direction. Overall, the enemy advanced on our positions six times today.

In the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to advance toward our defenders’ positions.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks by the invaders. Additionally, the enemy carried out five airstrikes using eight guided bombs.

Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of contact and in the rear.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine are adhering to the conditions of the “energy ceasefire.” The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this. Meanwhile, Russian information resources are spreading fake news about Ukraine allegedly striking energy facilities in Russia and the occupied territories.

To establish a just peace, Ukraine does not recognize Russian-occupied territories and will not agree to reduce its army. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He also emphasized that security guarantees must include economic measures, which, among other things, will be aimed at restoring affected regions.

The heaviest fighting occurred in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 80 assaults near the settlements of Panteleimonivka, Sukha Balka, Shevchenko, Vodyane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Kotlyne, Udachne, Kotliarivka, Uspenivka, and Andriivka. On April 1, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 64 Russian attacks.

Russian troops attacked 24 times in the Toretsk sector, doubling the number of attacks from the previous day.

Active battles continue near Andriivka in the Novopavlivka sector, according to Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the “Khortytsia” Operational and Strategic Group of Troops (OSUV). Analysts from the DeepState project reported on the morning of April 3 that Russian forces had advanced in Andriivka.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces launched assaults near Andriivka, deploying around two platoons of personnel and armored vehicles. Ukrainian defense forces struck Russian armored vehicles, destroying 12 units, including seven completely.

Additionally, 18 Russian soldiers were killed, and seven others were wounded. The General Staff did not specify when the assault took place.

Near Chasiv Yar, Russian forces are amassing troops near the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal and attempting to cross it. Russian troops are also using motorcycles, buggies, and makeshift armored vehicles, and in some cases, launching mechanized assaults, according to Yurii Syrotiuk, senior sergeant of the fire support company of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade.

Shelling

The facades of apartment buildings and private houses were damaged in the Ivanopillia district of Donetsk region due to an airstrike with a FAB-250 bomb in the first half of the day, reported Serhii Horbunov, head of the Kostiantynivka Military Administration.

The previous day, police recorded 3,374 Russian attacks on the front line and residential areas. Strikes hit 11 settlements: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Sloviansk, Toretsk, and the villages of Dobropillia, Kindrativka, Kurtivka, and Torske. A total of 42 civilian structures were damaged, including 26 residential buildings.

Luhansk oblast

The day before, the occupiers attempted assaults near five of our villages, according to the Regional Military Administration (OVA). Ukrainian forces repelled enemy offensives near Nadiia, Novoyehorivka, Dibrova, and Novolubivka in the Lyman sector of the front, as well as near Bilohorivka in the Siversk sector. The invaders fired artillery 22 times, carried out an airstrike, and directed 209 UAVs at Ukrainian positions.

In the so-called “LPR,” Russians continue to feed the population empty promises about building landfills. The Russian state budget only allocates funding for a project in Rodakove, near Luhansk, while the fate of five other projects remains uncertain. For example, in Antratsyt, a site was selected and prepared, with significant funds spent on planning, but now they are waiting for money to fall from the sky. Once the project—still not started—is completed, waste from neighboring regions of Russia will be brought there.

In Lysychansk, the occupiers have replaced the local puppet leader and the Russian overseer of reconstruction projects, but one thing remains unchanged—the poor quality of so-called “restorations.” For instance, in a multi-story building near the former GTV factory, contractors dismantled the sewage system back in 2024 and then disappeared. Residents are still waiting for work to resume.

On occupied Luhansk territory, those who have not obtained a Russian passport are considered foreigners. Pressure on the local population continues, with the occupiers denying them medical and social services, as well as financial assistance. The so-called “LPR” is facing a severe shortage of public transport drivers and utility workers. On April 1, another round of conscription began for men born in 2007 or earlier. Showpiece reconstruction is only happening in Sievierodonetsk, while life in other communities of the region has come to a standstill.

In Luhansk, the occupiers have begun vaccinations, administering uncertified vaccines to children under six years old, according to the National Resistance Center (CNS).
