On 29 March, the number of enemy attacks reached 66.
Artillery shelling of border areas continues. The settlements of Tovstodubove, Korenok, Bachivsk, Volfyne, Atynske, Ulanove, Vilna Sloboda, Topolia, Kozache, Novovasylivka, and Zhuravka in Sumy oblast, as well as Yasna Polyana and Leonivka in Chernihiv oblast, sustained strikes. Additionally, the enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Vilna Sloboda, Sumy oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy conducted 63 shellings of settlements and our troops’ positions, three of which involved multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Towards Southern Sloboda, the adversary assaulted Ukrainian units’ positions once in the vicinity of Vilcha.
Towards Kupiansk, the adversary made nine attempts to improve its tactical position in the vicinity of Novoosynove, Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka, Bohuslavka, Novoplatonivka, and Borivska Andriivka. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy went on the offensive seven times in the vicinity of Andriivka-Klevtsove, Oleksandrohrad, Sichneve, Zlahoda, Vyshneve, and Rybne. Additionally, the settlements of Lisne and Pokrovske were hit by guided aerial bomb strikes.
Towards Huliaipole, the Defense Forces successfully repelled six enemy attacks in the vicinity of Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, and Myrne. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Vozdvyzhenske, Shyroke, and Dolynka. One combat engagement is currently ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked in the vicinity of Prymorske. The Zariсhne area was hit by an airstrike.
Towards Kherson, no enemy assault actions were recorded.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
In the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, Russians are constructing a “digital fortress” by restricting access to social media and VPN services. According to the National Resistance Center, specialized equipment is being installed at internet service providers to allow for the centralized filtering of “undesirable” content.
The Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) successfully struck mobile launch units for Shahed-type drones at the Donetsk Airport. The strike occurred just as the occupiers were preparing for a launch, as reported by the Commander of the SBS, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, and the 1st Separate Center of the SBS.
In addition, Ukrainian drone operators targeted six other Russian military locations across the occupied parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The targets included a Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system, fuel and ammunition depots, and a communication tower.
Kharkiv oblast
In Kharkiv oblast, there were 236 combat engagements. Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses five times near Starytsia, Prylipka, Vovchansk, Volchanski Khutory, and Chuhunivka. Towards Kupiansk, the russian army attacked nine times in the vicinity of Pishchane, Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka, and Novoplatonivka and Kurylivka.
In Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district, a russian drone hit an outbuilding on a private property, causing a fire and damaging two houses; two people were injured.
Around 07:30 on March 29, FPV drones attacked a school in Liutivka, damaging windows, doors, and the roof. Local authorities report that russia has targeted the village for five consecutive days during an ongoing forced evacuation, with nine children still remaining there. In Velykyi Burluk community, an FPV drone struck a civilian car, injuring three men aged 32, 42, and 67.
Overall, nine settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under fire, resulting in six injuries. In Liutivka, a 62-year-old man was wounded; in Myrne, an 89-year-old woman; in Shypuvate, three men; and in Ivanivka, a 56-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. Additionally, a 68-year-old man injured during the March 24 shelling of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi sought medical help. For these strikes, russia used 8 KABs, 4 Geran-2 drones, 2 FPV drones, and 20 unidentified UAVs. Civilian infrastructure was damaged in Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, and Berestyn regions.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 192 people, bringing the total registered to 25,454.
Meanwhile, Kharkiv is considering the installation of nuclear mini-reactors to generate its own electricity.
In Snizhkiv, border guard Oleksandr Suprun, who was released from captivity during the February 5, 2026 exchange, was officially welcomed home.
Donetsk oblast
On March 28, the Defense Forces repelled 84 attacks by russian troops towards Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka. According to the General Staff of the AFU, the occupiers assaulted positions near Kostiantynivka, Yablunivka, Pleshchiivka, Udachne, Pokrovsk, and other settlements.
Ukrainian military forces successfully struck fuel depots on the outskirts of Donetsk and Manhush, as well as a repair base near Prokhorivka.
Lyman remains a primary objective for russian forces in their attempts to launch an offensive against Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. The occupiers are attempting to approach the city using small infantry groups and infiltration tactics, but they have been unable to capture the city or establish a foothold. The Joint Forces Group assesses that without control over Lyman, a northern advance on Sloviansk is unlikely. Consequently, russian forces may pivot their strategy toward an offensive from the south via Kostiantynivka.
russian troops have intensified assaults near Pokrovsk, attacking multiple areas simultaneously. They are utilizing light vehicles, motorcycles, and infantry waves. Currently, active fighting is reported in the center of Hryshyne, northern Pokrovsk, and Myrnohrad–Rodynske axis.
On the morning of March 29, a russian drone struck a hotel in Sloviansk. One person was injured in the attack and has been hospitalized.

On 28 March, police recorded 1,662 russian strikes along the front line and the residential sector of Donetsk oblast. Nine settlements were under fire, with 22 civilian objects damaged, including 20 residential buildings.
In Kramatorsk, the occupiers struck three times with drones—a boy born in 2016 was injured, while a private house and a combine harvester were damaged. In Malotaranivka, FPV drones wounded two civilians and damaged a house and a vehicle. The russians dropped a KAB-250 on Druzhkivske, resulting in one person wounded and 15 private houses damaged.
Injuries were also recorded in Mykolaivka. In Sloviansk and Iverske, private houses were damaged, and in Kopani, an outbuilding was hit.
Forced evacuation of families with children has been declared in three districts of Sloviansk due to their proximity to the Kyiv–Dovzhanskyi highway, which is under constant Russian shelling. Over the past 24 hours, rescuers evacuated 10 people from frontline Sviatohirsk and Druzhkivka.
Occupying forces plan to expand the capacity of the Mariupol port to accommodate vessels with a deadweight of over 25,000 tons as part of a strategy extending to 2040. Meanwhile, in Mariupol, occupation police are ignoring local residents’ complaints regarding public order violations by migrants.
Luhansk oblast
In Luhansk oblast, the invaders attempted nine times to find weak points in the Ukrainian defenses towards Lyman and Sloviansk, attacking near seven settlements. Additionally, the occupiers struck with mortars five times, used tube artillery twice, and directed 30 UAVs and FPV drones toward Defense Forces positions.
In Lysychansk, russian contractors abandoned a semi-dismantled high-rise building last year after starting a symbolic “restoration” project. Following the demolition work, the building became completely uninhabitable; however, official documents already list its reconstruction as completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
On the main water pipeline between Kadiivka and Alchevsk, accidents occur once or twice a month, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without water for extended periods. After each repair, the system functions for only a few days, and no major renovation of the pipeline has been conducted for approximately 12 years. This time, residents of Brianka, Kadiivka, Irmino, Almazna, Zorinsk, and 16 smaller settlements have been left without drinking water.
russian occupiers in Luhansk oblast have also admitted their inability to maintain the operations of three more coal mines. Currently, these enterprises are functioning only in life-support mode.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
During the night and into the morning of March 29, the Kyiv region was attacked by Russian drones. Air defense forces were active in the area. Just this night alone, defenders within the “Clean Sky” project intercepted nearly three dozen enemy drones, reported the head of the Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk. According to him, since the launch of the project, nearly 3,000 enemy targets have already been neutralized.
As a result of the Russian attack on March 29, agricultural infrastructure at one enterprise was damaged in the Boryspil district, while in the Bila Tserkva district, production facilities of an enterprise and the windows of an apartment in a multi-story residential building were damaged.
On the evening of March 28, due to a Russian attack in the eastern part of the Brovary district, a private house was damaged. A man born in 1959 sustained injuries from glass fragments caused by the blast wave. The injuries were minor, and he received medical assistance on the spot.

In Kyiv, the system of support for veterans and their family members is being expanded. Recruitment for new specialists is currently underway, the Kyiv City State Administration reported. At present, more than 2,000 people are under support, having received over 13,000 assistance services.
On March 28, a ceremonial burial of unidentified bodies of servicemen and police officers who were killed as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine took place at the National Military Memorial Cemetery, the Office of the President reported.
Commemorative events marking the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Irpin from Russian troops were held. A memorial service for the fallen soldiers took place, and 15 new portraits were unveiled at the Memory Alley in the city center. Relatives, fellow soldiers, and local residents came to honor the fallen.
A run in honor of Hero of Ukraine Maksym Kagal, a fighter of the Azov Regiment, was held in Kyiv. Participants made symbolic donations, and the funds raised will be transferred to support the military. Maksym Kagal, call sign “Piston,” was a Hero of Ukraine and a senior lieutenant of the Azov Regiment, serving as a platoon commander of fire support in the 1st company of the 1st battalion. He was a world champion in ISKA kickboxing among adults and a holder of many other sports awards. He was killed on March 25, 2022, during the defense of Mariupol. He was 30 years old.
Zhytomyr oblast
On March 31, the third training course of the “Veterans Entrepreneurship Academy” will begin in Zhytomyr — a free educational initiative for war veterans and their family members. Applications for participation are currently open, the Department for Veterans Affairs of the Zhytomyr City Council reported.
On March 27, a regional job fair for veterans was held in Zhytomyr at the city employment center, with online connections to 11 communities across the region. Nearly 400 job seekers participated in the event. Attendees were presented with job vacancies at local enterprises and institutions, as well as grant programs for starting their own businesses, said Halyna Korinna, Director of the Zhytomyr Regional Employment Center.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces, more than 3,000 veterans have applied to the regional employment service. As of March 27, 2026, 602 of them have been successfully employed.
Sumy oblast
The State Emergency Service reported that during the night of 29 March, russian UAVs struck a civilian infrastructure facility in Shostka community. Non-residential premises and vehicles caught fire. Due to the threat of repeated attacks, rescuers were forced to suspend operations multiple times. The fire was localised. According to Mykola Noha, Mayor of Shostka, warehouse facilities were destroyed, and trucks and passenger cars were damaged.
Over the past day, 28 March, production assets of Naftogaz in Sumy oblast came under attack by the russian army. According to the company, significant damage was recorded and a fire broke out at the site. No injuries were reported.
On 28 March the Regional Military Administration informed that in Znob-Novhorodskyi community, a 75-year-old man was killed. He sustained fatal injuries from a UAV explosion. The drone detonated on a road when the man approached it.
According to Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, at around 4pm on 28 March, in Velyka Pysarivka community, two men were injured as a result of a russian UAV attack. The incident occurred while they were travelling on a motorcycle. The injured men are aged 40 and 46.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of russian shelling across the oblast over the past day, 28 March, two people were killed and six were injured.
Between the morning of 28 March and the morning of 29 March, russian forces carried out nearly 90 attacks on 37 settlements across 21 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs, guided aerial bombs and missiles. Over the past day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted for 23 hours and 52 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
- In Konotop community, a civilian infrastructure facility, apartment buildings, an office premises, an outbuilding and a vehicle were damaged;
- In Znob-Novhorodskyi community, a private residential house was destroyed;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Shostka community, private residential houses, non-residential premises and vehicles were damaged;
- In Esman community, private residential houses were destroyed, and a private residential house, outbuildings and non-residential premises were damaged;
- In Komyshi community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Velyka Pysarivka community, a vehicle — a motorcycle — was damaged;
- In Berezivka community, a private residential house was damaged.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and public organisations, evacuated two people from border communities.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that at around 3:30pm on 29 March, russian forces attacked a local agricultural enterprise in Novhorod-Siverskyi by a Herbera-type UAV. As a result of the explosion, agricultural machinery — a tractor and a grain trailer — was damaged.
At approximately 10:20am on 29 March, russian forces struck Semenivka town by an FPV drone. The impact damaged the roof of a local museum building. No casualties were reported. The extent of the damage is being clarified.
In Chernihiv oblast, near Nizhyn, on 29 March, due to the threat of russian drone strikes, an electric train on Kyiv–Slavutych route was stopped in a field. Around 100 passengers were evacuated.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that as a result of a night-time russian attack on a woodworking enterprise in Novhorod-Siverskyi on 29 March, a large-scale fire broke out. Dozens of nearby private and multi-storey residential buildings were damaged. A local kindergarten also sustained significant destruction. Information on casualties is being clarified. According to him, russian forces launched the attack at around 01:30am, using seven Geran-type strike UAVs.

During the day of 28 March, russian forces attacked a residential area in Budo-Vorobiivska village, Novhorod-Siverskyi community, by an FPV drone. As a result of the strike, a private house was completely destroyed by fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, informed that over the past day, 28 March, russian shelling caused fires covering a total of four hectares of dry grass in Novhorod-Siverskyi and Nizhyn regions. The fires were extinguished by rescuers.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, during 28 March, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out shelling by mortars (31 explosions) and tube artillery (13 explosions), launched strikes using Shahed-type UAVs (9 explosions), Molniia-type UAVs (1 explosion), FPV drones (26 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions). Fourteen settlements were under enemy fire.
Chernihiv Regional Military Administration announced that at present, seven veteran support centres have been established in Chernihiv oblast: in Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Pryluky, Borzna and Ivanivka. They provide assistance with employment, legal consultations and social services, as well as support for mental health and rehabilitation. Renovation works are ongoing at an additional centre in Pryluky.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that as a result of a UAV attack in Sursko-Lytovska community, two private houses were damaged. Occupying forces used FPV drones to strike the regional centre, as well as Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities. A multi-storey residential building was damaged.
The enemy struck Pokrovske community by a guided aerial bomb. An outbuilding caught fire, and three greenhouses and an outbuilding were damaged. FPV drones were launched at Petropavlivka community, where a vehicle caught fire. russian forces also attacked Kryvyi Rih by UAVs and targeted Hrushivka community by FPV drones, damaging infrastructure.
The enemy attacked Kryvyi Rih, as well as Zelenodolsk and Sofiivka communities, by UAVs. Fires broke out. Infrastructure and enterprises were damaged.
In Nikopol, three people were injured. A 58-year-old man was wounded in a drone strike. A 60-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were injured as a result of artillery shelling.
Strikes also targeted Marhanets and Pokrovska communities. Four apartment buildings and 15 private houses were damaged, one house was destroyed, and nine vehicles, an administrative building, a gymnasium, 10 garages, nine outbuildings, a greenhouse, solar panels, a gas pipeline and power lines were damaged.
In Mezhove community, a 23-year-old woman was injured as a result of a UAV attack. A vehicle was destroyed and a private house was damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
In Voronovytsa territorial community, a peaceful rally in support of prisoners of war and missing defenders was held for the first time. More than 20 families of servicemen took part.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, informed that overnight, air defence forces neutralised 20 russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
On 29 March, the russian army carried out strikes on the frontline settlements of Zarichne and Bilenke in Zaporizhzhia region. As a result of the attack, a woman was killed, and two men were injured. According to Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, a private house and a non-residential building were also destroyed, and a fire broke out.
Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 28 March, the occupiers carried out 780 strikes on 41 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russians launched a missile strike on Andrianivka. russian forces conducted 24 airstrikes on Komyshuvakha, Danylivka, Shevchenkivske, Liubytske, Svitla Dolyna, Zalyvne, Chervonyi Yar, Huliaipilske, Vozdvyzhivka, Dolynka, Novosoloshyne, Kopani, Charivne, Shyroke, Verkhnia Tersa, Myrne, Bilohria, and Hirkove. 440 UAVs of various modifications (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Novomykolaivka, Kushuhum, Bilenke, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, Pavlivka, Prymorske, Lukianivske, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Myrne, Charivne, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Hirkove, Solodke, Bilohria, Tsvitkove, and Pryluky. There were four MLRS strikes on Varvarivka, Novodanylivka, and Mala Tokmachka. 311 artillery strikes targeted Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Pavlivka, Lukianivske, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Zelene, Bilohria, Pryluky, Solodke, and Huliaipilske. 76 reports were received about damage to infrastructure, residential buildings, outbuildings, and vehicles. Three women were injured as a result of russian attack on Zaporizhzhia region.
The head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that from 23 March to 29 March, Defense Forces units shot down 378 russian UAVs over Zaporizhzhia.
The General Staff reported that as of 16:00 on 29 March, the Defense Forces successfully repelled six enemy attacks in the areas of Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, and Myrne towards Huliaipole. The enemy attacked in the area of Prymorske towards Orikhiv. On 28 March, the Defense Forces repelled 33 russian attacks towards Huliaipole and ten more towards Orikhiv.
The Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine reported that on 28 March, the Defense Forces stopped a russian mechanized assault and destroyed a military column that attempted to enter Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia oblast. They noted that the russians, taking advantage of weather conditions, including morning fog, used a tank “hedgehog,” an infantry fighting vehicle, and two Ulan vehicles attempting to enter the settlement unnoticed.
Mykolaiv oblast
Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 28 March, during the day and night, the enemy attacked the region with Shahed-type UAVs. As a result of the attack and falling UAV debris at a public recreation area in Voskresenske community of Mykolaiv region, ten people were injured – two women aged 40 and 18, and eight children aged 10 to 16. Three private houses, three shops, and a car were damaged. The windows of a school and a power line were damaged in Voznesenske region. One settlement was partially left without electricity..
According to Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, a 13-year-old girl died in the hospital.

Also, yesterday, the enemy twice attacked Kutsurub and Ochakiv communities with FPV drones. A car and a power line were damaged. No casualties were reported.
Odesa oblast
Tonight, the enemy once again carried out insidious strikes on civilian and energy infrastructure in Odesa oblast. An energy facility was damaged. One of the drones hit a private residential house, partially destroying the facade. Damage was also reported at a dacha cooperative.
The Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that during the night attack on Odesa on 29 March, border guards destroyed six russian strike UAVs of the Shahed type over the Black Sea.
The company DTEK “Odesa Electric Networks” stated that restoration work in the energy system continues following the russian attacks in Odesa. According to energy officials, electricity was restored for 83,400 households over the past day. At the same time, 25,300 families in Odesa region remain without power, including in Peresypskyi district of Odesa city.
Kherson oblast
The Police of Kherson oblast reported that on the morning of 29 March, russian forces once again attacked Kherson. Within an hour, as a result of drone attacks a woman was killed, two men were injured, and two civilian cars were damaged in Korabelnyi district.
According to the city military administration, around 14:30, a UAV attacked Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 54-year-old resident suffered a concussion, shrapnel wounds, an explosive injury, and a closed traumatic brain injury.
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that on 28 March, russian forces attacked Antonivka, Beryslav, Blahovishchenske, Bilozerka, Biliaivka, Vesele, Vysoke, Virivka, Dniprovske, Dudchany, Zmiivka, Zolota Balka, Kizomys, Lvove, Mykilske, Molodizhne, Monastyrske, Naddniprianske, Nezlamne, Novovorontsovka, Novodmytrivka, Novoraisk, Odradokamianka, Olhivka, Osokorivka, Parysheve, Prydniprovske, Pryozerne, Rozlyv, Sadove, Sofiivka, Tokarivka, Tomaryne, Tomyna Balka, Tiahynka, Urozhaine, Khreshchenivka, Charivne, Chervone, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, 2 apartment buildings, 13 private houses, a church, an administrative building, a farm, and a private car were damaged. 1 person was killed, and 2 others were injured due to the russian aggression.

While performing a combat mission in Donetsk oblast, Oleksandr Batura, serviceman of the Mortar Platoon of the Mortar Battery of the Mechanized Battalion of the 100th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, born in 1977, was killed.
Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that Ivano-Frankivsk oblast sent unmanned ground robotic complexes with Starlink satellite communication to the 102nd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Lviv oblast
During the meeting of graduates of the 1st–3rd grades of the school of the village of Novyi Yarychiv, they raised over UAH 10,000 for the needs of the defenders. The Hupalo family from Zhovtanci donated UAH 10,000 for the needs of the military.
With the charity performance The Night Before Christmas, students from Myklashiv Regional Children’s Theater visited educational institutions in Pidberiztsiv community. In total, they raised over UAH 50,000 for the needs of the army.
Rivne oblast
3 modern public kitchens for IDPs have been opened in Rivne oblast. Kitchens were put into operation in Khrinnyky as part of an initiative by the international charity organization World Central Kitchen. All spaces are equipped with household appliances
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that 138 servicemen from the city will receive a one-time cash grant to purchase necessary equipment.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
At night and in the morning, the enemy attacked Khmelnytskyi oblast. The Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down/suppressed three enemy drones. There is no information about casualties or injuries. As a result of the attack, there were power outages. Energy workers restored power to all users as soon as possible.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that an enemy UAV was spotted over the oblast this morning.

The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the state has officially signed a document joining the Expanded Partial Agreement on the Special Tribunal against russian Aggression.
