What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

On 18 June, there were 204 combat engagements.

The enemy launched three missile strikes using nine missiles, and carried out 64 airstrikes, dropping 213 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the adversary deployed 5,797 kamikaze drones for strikes and conducted 2,183 shellings of settlements and positions of our troops.

  • Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, five combat engagements took place. The enemy carried out 60 shellings, including six involving the use of MLRS.
  • Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy launched six assaults on the positions of our units in the vicinity of Lyman and Starytsia, and towards Izbytske. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
  • Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked the positions of the Defense Forces three times today towards Radkivka and Kolisnykivka.
  • Towards Lyman, Ukrainian warriors repelled 13 attempts by the invaders to advance towards the settlements of Shyikivka, Stavky, Drobysheve, and Lyman, and in the areas of Novoselivka, Derylove, Zarične, and Yampol. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
  • Towards Sloviansk, the Defense Forces repelled 11 attempts by the invaders to push forward towards the settlements of Rai-Oleksandrivka and Kryva Luka, and in the areas of Zakitne and Kalenyky.
  • Towards Kramatorsk, one combat engagement took place with the enemy; the adversary was advancing towards Malynivka.
  • Towards Kostiantynivka, the Defense Forces repelled 14 enemy assaults near the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Toretske.
  • Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy conducted 27 attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance in the areas of Novoselivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Rodynske, Novomykolaivka, and Filiia, and towards the settlements of Bilytske, Dorozhne, Shevchenko, Serhiivka, and Novopavlivka. One combat engagement is ongoing.

According to preliminary estimates, 41 occupiers were eliminated and another 23 were wounded in this direction; one artillery system, two MLRS, three units of automotive equipment, and one unit of special equipment belonging to the enemy were destroyed. Two artillery systems, two units of automotive equipment, two UAV control posts, and 16 personnel shelters were damaged. A total of 241 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.

  • Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy attacked twice in the vicinity of Oleksandrohrad and Nove Zaporizhzhia.
  • Towards Huliaipole, the Defense Forces repelled 20 enemy attacks near the settlements of Dobropillia, Huliaipilske, Hirke, Tsvitkove, and Charivne. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
  • Towards Orikhiv, our defenders halted three attempts by the enemy to advance in the vicinity of Stepnohirsk.
  • Towards Kherson, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.

In other directions, there were no significant changes in the situation.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the russian army attacked twice towards Southern Sloboda—in the vicinity of Lyman and Izbytske. Russian troops made another two attempts to advance towards Radkivka and Kolisnykivka Towards Kupiansk.

There were 259 combat engagements in the oblast.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian units ten times in the vicinity of Lyman, Vovchansk, Pokaliane, Izbytske, Okhrimivka, and Odradne.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders halted five enemy attempts to advance towards Novoplatonivka and Kurylivka.

The Center for Coordination of Mine Action reports that in Balakliia, a 42-year-old man sustained a mine-blast injury and the amputation of his right foot, presumably after stepping on a “Peliustka” (Butterfly) mine.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the community, informs that at 09:45, the russian army launched a strike with two guided aerial bombs near Klynova-Novoselivka, Zolochiv community. Additionally, at 04:30, the russians attacked Zavadske with a drone, completely burning down a private house.

The police of Kharkiv oblast report that in Hrushivka, Kupiansk region, a 72-year-old local resident was killed as a result of a guided aerial bomb strike.

Over the past day, 11 settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under enemy fire. As a result of the shelling, four people were injured. A 64-year-old man was injured between the villages of Bilyi Kolodiaz and Novooleksandrivka, Vovchansk community. In Hlushkivka, Kurylivka community, an 18-year-old man was injured. In Shevchenkove, women aged 67 and 46 suffered an acute stress reaction. Another 42-year-old man was injured in the village of Bairak, Balakliia community, due to the explosion of an unidentified device.

For strikes on Kharkiv oblast, russian troops deployed three guided aerial bombs, three Geran-2 type drones, six Molniya type UAVs, three FPV drones, and 11 drones of an unestablished type.

The civilian infrastructure of the oblast sustained damage. In Bohodukhiv region, an educational institution and a two-family house were damaged in Zolochiv, private houses and power lines in Pysarivka, private houses in Odnorobivka, an apartment building and two private houses in Klynova-Novoselivka, and a private house in Bratenytsia. In Kupiansk region, an emergency medical service vehicle was damaged in Pidserednie, power lines in Prykolotne, and outbuildings in Shevchenkove. In Kharkiv region, a private house was damaged in Bezruky, and in Chuhuiv region—a private house in Novyi Burluk.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova accommodated 305 people over the past day. In total, 40,800 people have been registered at the point since it began operating.

More than 88 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast were demined during the week. Over this period, sappers inspected about 40 hectares of agricultural land, nearly three kilometers of gas pipelines, over 12 hectares of forests, more than 400 meters of highways, and over a kilometer of power lines. They also demined 21 households, restored electricity supply for 11,999 subscribers, and neutralized 730 explosive objects.

Kharkiv oblast received a new batch of specialized vehicles from German partners. An Iveco aerial platform truck was handed over to the Lozova community, and two high-mobility MAN material handlers were given to the Kupiansk community. The equipment is intended for the use of municipal services during emergency response and infrastructure restoration.

Gas service employee Heorhiy Kukharchyk was awarded the Order “For Courage,” III degree. In the winter of 2026, he repaired a gas pipeline damaged by shelling in Kharkiv, restoring gas supply to more than 15,000 homes.

 

Servicemen of the 13th National Guard Brigade “Khartia” rescued five puppies near Lyptsi. According to a fighter with the call sign “Hulihan,” aerial reconnaissance teams carried the dogs for about 10 kilometers—in a backpack and in their arms.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

During the night of June 18, the enemy attacked the Kyiv region with strike drones and ballistic missiles, according to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration. No casualties were reported. The consequences of the attack were recorded in two districts of the region. In the Vyshhorod district, a hangar facility was damaged. In the Boryspil district, an educational institution, a private house, and the premises of an enterprise sustained damage.

Last night, thanks to the “Clean Sky” project, three dozen enemy drones were destroyed over the Kyiv region while approaching the area. This was reported by the Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk.

At the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, preparations are underway for the next stage of restoration work on the Dormition Cathedral following the Russian attack on June 15. Emergency covering of the damaged roof is currently in progress to protect the building from precipitation and prevent further damage to the cathedral’s interior decoration. Once the emergency works are completed, specialists will assess the extent of the destruction and determine further measures necessary to preserve this historic monument, according to the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.”

The 14th Basic Training Course at the Kyiv Regional Center for National Resistance Training has been successfully completed. For nearly two months, men and women voluntarily dedicated their weekends to training at the military training ground. During this period, participants mastered 16 disciplines, gained practical combat experience from instructors, studied theoretical materials, and refined their practical skills.

On June 17, the first municipal integration hub for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine was opened in the capital. The city’s comprehensive assistance center will provide legal, psychological, and social services not only to displaced persons but also to stateless individuals and those who have lost their homes.

Nearly 440,000 internally displaced persons are officially registered in Kyiv, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Almost half of them arrived after the start of the full-scale invasion. The city continues to provide access to social, medical, educational, and financial support services for displaced residents.

Zhytomyr oblast

Colonel Oleksii Melnyk, Commander of the 38th Polissia Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine, has been awarded the “For Merits to Zhytomyr” distinction, Second Class, according to the Zhytomyr City Council.

Under Colonel Melnyk’s leadership, from 2022 to 2026, the regiment’s units have successfully carried out and continue to carry out combat missions in the Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions.

In addition, Colonel Melnyk personally organized and continues to coordinate the work of mobile fire groups that protect the skies over the Zhytomyr region on a daily basis. These units have successfully destroyed 53 aerial targets launched by the Russian armed forces.

Sumy oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported at 4:12pm. on 18 June that a fire broke out in warehouse facilities storing residues of sulphur-containing substances following a strike by enemy guided aerial bombs on the outskirts of Sumy community. Residents of Bezdryk, Verkhnia Syrovatka and Krasnopillia communities were advised to keep windows closed and, if possible, limit time spent outdoors. According to the relevant services, there is no threat to the population.

Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that at around 4 am., russians struck the outskirts of Sumy by two guided aerial bombs. Following the attack, relatives of a 64-year-old man who had gone fishing by the river and disappeared contacted law enforcement authorities. Police officers responding to the scene confirmed the man’s death.

According to the State Emergency Service reported that enemy drones attacked Hlukhivska community during the night of 18 June. The strike caused a fire at a building of an educational institution. Due to the threat of a repeated attack, State Emergency Service personnel temporarily suspended operations. All fire hotspots were eventually extinguished.

The State Emergency Service reported that during the night of 18 June, the enemy launched drone strikes on the oblast centre. One person was killed in the attack. Rescuers dealt with the aftermath at four separate locations. In a damaged nine-storey residential building, State Emergency Service specialists dismantled hazardous structures and carried out an emergency opening of a flat where a woman was located. At another address, firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out in a private residential area as a result of the attack. The body of a deceased person was found at the scene.

The State Emergency Service of Sumy oblast informed that on 17 June, russian forces struck a civilian infrastructure facility. The attack caused extensive destruction, a large-scale fire and damage to vehicles. While emergency crews were responding, russians carried out a repeated strike on the same location. No State Emergency Service personnel were injured. The fire was extinguished.

During the enemy UAV attack on Sumy community, a civilian man was killed. His body was found on the grounds of a private household in a residential area on the outskirts of the city. Damage to a residential house was also recorded.

Photo: The State Emergency Service of Sumy oblastAccording to the State Emergency Service, in Sumy, rescuers continued to deal with the aftermath of the enemy attack on the grounds of the equestrian sports school on 17 June. In the building, which was partially destroyed by the strike, rescuers dismantled hazardous structures and removed large floor slabs. The State Emergency Service personnel recovered the bodies of three horses from beneath the rubble.

From the morning of 17 June to the morning of 18 June 2026, russian forces carried out more than 90 attacks on 22 settlements across 15 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 17 hours and 53 minutes during the reporting period.

The Regional Military Administration reported that, as of the morning of 18 June, three people had been killed and seven injured in enemy attacks across Sumy oblast. Destruction and damage to private homes, vehicles and civilian infrastructure facilities were also recorded:

▪️ In Sumy community, a 56-year-old man was killed in UAV attacks. A 34-year-old woman and men aged 32 and 40 were injured. Non-residential premises, apartment buildings, private houses, outbuildings and vehicles were damaged;

▪️ In Shostka community, a 68-year-old man was killed in a UAV strike, while men aged 60 and 42 were injured. A children’s rehabilitation centre, apartment buildings, stadium infrastructure and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;

▪️ In Velyka Pysarivka community, a 63-year-old man was killed when his bicycle struck an explosive object. A house and an outbuilding were destroyed;

▪️ In Bilopollia community, a 75-year-old man was injured after explosives were dropped from a russian drone. A private passenger vehicle was damaged;

▪️ In Hlukhiv community, a 26-year-old man was injured in a UAV strike. Apartment buildings, a private residential house, premises of an educational institution, non-residential premises and vehicles were damaged;

▪️In Trostianets community, a 36-year-old woman sought medical assistance for injuries sustained during the night of 17 June;

▪️ In Znob-Novhorodske community, a non-residential premises and a lorry were damaged;

▪️ In Berezivka community, an outbuilding was destroyed;

▪️ In Esman community, a private residential house and an outbuilding were destroyed;

▪️ In Seredyno-Buda community, private residential houses and outbuildings were destroyed.

During the reporting period, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, National Police and non-governmental organisations, evacuated 18 people from border communities.

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 18 June, russian forces attacked the grounds of a school in Byryne village, near the border in Chernihiv oblast, by a Lancet loitering munition. The strike damaged windows, doors and the facade of the educational institution.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that at around 11:30am on 18 June, russian forces struck Semenivka by an FPV drone. The roof of an outbuilding belonging to one of the town’s enterprises was damaged. No information on casualties has been reported.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that on 17 June, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar attacks (24 explosions), artillery strikes (2 explosions), FPV drone attacks (2 explosions), and dropped an explosive device from a UAV (1 explosion). Seven settlements came under enemy fire.

According to Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, a radiation shelter has been built at one of the lyceums in Koriukivka community using state subsidy funds. Previously, the educational institution relied on a basic shelter. The new radiation shelter has capacity for 400 people.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that a man was injured in Nikopol as a result of artillery shelling. The russian forces attacked the regional centre, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske rural communities by drones, artillery and MLRS. A fire broke out. Damage was reported to 5 apartment buildings, 6 private houses, a museum, a funeral service facility, 3 outbuildings, an unused building, 4 vehicles, 2 gas pipelines and a power line. In Apostolove community, a UAV attack damaged infrastructure. Infrastructure was damaged in Samar city following a drone strike. In Kamianske, a UAV attack damaged an enterprise. In Vasylkivka community, KAB strikes damaged private houses and vehicles.

The russian forces attacked the highway leading to Nikopol by drones 5 times during the day. A truck driver was killed and another driver was injured.

In Chervonohryhorivka community, 4 people were injured. The enemy attacked the regional centre, Pokrovske rural community and Marhanets community. Damage was reported to an outpatient clinic, a sports hall, 4 vehicles and infrastructure. Zelendolsk community was targeted by FPV drones. A filling station, a cafe and infrastructure were damaged. A man was killed in a missile attack during the day. 12 people were injured. A fire broke out and an enterprise was damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

Students of the Yunnat summer recreation school in Vinnytsia met with Ukrainian servicemen who are carrying out combat missions in eastern Ukraine. The soldiers brought an armored vehicle, drones and examples of military equipment and conducted a tactical medicine training session for the children.

Poltava oblast

According to Poltava Regional Military Administration, during the night, russian forces struck 2 regions of the oblast. In Poltava oblast, industrial and private enterprises were attacked. Technological equipment and an administrative building were damaged. One person was injured and hospitalised. Also, enemy UAVs struck a private residence and an energy infrastructure facility. In Myrhorod region, warehouse facilities were damaged as a result of falling UAV debris.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, soldiers of the 118th Separate Mechanised Brigade and supporting units completely repelled a russian motorcycle assault near Mala Tokmachka. The russian forces attempted to break through along 3 routes by more than 30 pieces of equipment. They employed new tactics, equipping motorcycles with mobile electronic warfare systems and mine-clearing shovels. Ukrainian defenders eliminated 26 assault troops and wounded more than 10 others.

Referring to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 17 June, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 34 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. Combat engagements took place near Mala Tokmachka, Dobropillia, Pryluky and Zlahoda, as well as toward Huliaipilske, Hirke, Vozdvyzhivka, Tsvitkove, Charivne and Lukianivske.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that 3 people were injured as a result of russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia oblast. On 17 June, russian forces carried out more than 890 strikes on 45 settlements across Zaporizhzhia oblast. Most of the attacks involved drones, primarily FPV drones.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on the morning of 18 June, russian forces carried out artillery strikes on Kutsurub community. There were no casualties reported.

Odesa oblast

Based on the information provided by the Air Force of Ukraine, several UAVs were detected this evening over the Black Sea heading toward Odesa and Chornomorsk.

Earlier in the morning, groups of attack UAVs were detected moving from the Black Sea and Mykolaiv oblast toward Zatoka, Serhiivka and Dobroslav.

Kherson oblast

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that a 67-year-old man was killed near a residential building in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson after sustaining fatal injuries in a drone attack.

Today at approximately 4:30pm, a woman came under russian shelling in the Korabelnyi district of Kherson. She was diagnosed with a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to her leg.

At around 1pm, russian forces attacked a man by a drone in Bilozirka. Preliminary reports indicate that the 75-year-old resident suffered a blast injury. Doctors are currently examining him and providing medical assistance.

2 residents of Blahovishchenske were injured as a result of russian shelling. A 64-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man sustained blast injuries, concussions and acute stress reactions.

At approximately 7am, a civilian vehicle struck a russian mine near Molodizhne. As a result of the explosion, a 56-year-old man and 2 women aged 52 and 46 were injured. Preliminary reports indicate that they sustained blast injuries.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

A meeting was held in Lutsk with the families of fallen Heroes and missing servicemen. During the meeting, organizational issues regarding the children’s health and recreation in Poland were agreed upon.

Zakarpattia oblast

Uzhhorod sent a Mercedes-Benz O530G Citaro bus to Mykolaiv city community from the Hungarian company V-bus LLC.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

With the assistance of the Olena Zelenska Foundation, 15 family-type orphanages created by the regional guardianship and trusteeship bodies operating in communities received charging stations, household appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, freezers, TVs, multi-ovens, irons, meat grinders, blenders, kettles, furniture, home textiles, a swimming pool, a greenhouse, a motoblock, bicycles, tablets and smartphones worth over UAH 2.2m.

Lviv oblast

The IV rehabilitation and sports camp for war veterans League of the Unconquered was held in Lviv oblast. For 10 years, our defenders underwent active rehabilitation, trained in adaptive sports, traveled the Carpathians, participated in educational events, and communicated with those who have similar experiences.

Rivne oblast

A meeting was held in the north of Rivne oblast to strengthen the protection and defense of the state border. The event was chaired by the Acting Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Major General Valerii Vavryniuk.

Ternopil oblast

The 105th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade received a four-wheel drive Nissan Navara pickup truck from Ternopil community.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

540 active military personnel from Khmelnytskyi community received financial support for their own needs. The total amount of assistance is UAH 5.4m.

Chernivtsi oblast

Social housing for Mariupol families has been opened in Chernivtsi. In total, 138 people from 52 Mariupol families will live here. 25 families from the most vulnerable categories have received the keys to the new homes, the rest will move in gradually.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Netherlands will allocate €500m for drones for Ukraine and American weapons. €250m will be allocated for the purchase of UAVs from Dutch defense companies. The rest will be provided through the PURL program, under which Ukraine receives American-made weapons. After the new contribution, the total amount of Dutch assistance under this initiative will reach €1bn.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President, met with Donald Trump, US President, and Emmanuel Macron, French President, to discuss support for Ukraine.
