On 7 March, the number of attacks by the aggressor was 42.
The shelling of border areas continues. In Sumy oblast, the settlements of Bezsalivka, Volfyne, Vilcha, Sukhodil, Kucherivka, Kysla Dubyna, Boiaro–Lezhachi, Khodyne, Rohizne, Budky, Prohres, Iskryskivshchyna, Novovasylivka, and Bereza were affected.
The operational situation across the frontline is as follows:
- Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk: The enemy carried out 68 shellings of settlements and positions of our troops, including two involving the use of MLRS. Additionally, 3 airstrikes were launched using eight KABs.
- Towards Southern Sloboda: The adversary attacked three times in the vicinity of Hrafske, Vilcha, and Zybine. One assault operation is ongoing.
- Towards Kupiansk: The adversary moved forward twice in the vicinity of Kivsharivka and Novoosynove.
- Towards Lyman: Ukrainian warriors repelled one attempt by the invaders to advance in the vicinity of Serednie.
- Towards Sloviansk: The occupiers tried three times to advance on our positions in the vicinity of Rai-Oleksandrivka, Platonivka, and Kalenyky. One attack is ongoing.
- Towards Kramatorsk: The aggressor attacked in the vicinity of Minkivka.
- Towards Kostiantynivka: The invaders carried out nine offensive actions in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Illinivka, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka. One battle is ongoing.
- Towards Pokrovsk: The occupiers have tried 13 times to push our warriors from their positions in the vicinity of Novyi Donbas, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, and Novopidhorodne. Two combat engagements have not yet concluded.
- Towards Oleksandrivka: The enemy went on the offensive three times in the vicinity of Verbove and Novohryhorivka. Furthermore, Pysantsi, Pokrovske, and Chornenkove were hit by airstrikes.
- Towards Huliaipole: Seven attacks occurred in the vicinity of Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, and Myrne. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Svitla Dolyna, Zelena Dibrova, Kopani, Charivne, and Rivne. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
- Towards Orikhiv: No active enemy offensive actions were recorded, but Veselianka and Malokaterynivka were hit by airstrikes.
- Towards Kherson: No attempts by the enemy to improve their position have been observed.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation are currently occurring. No enemy attempts to advance are recorded. Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
As a result of an enemy attack on the region on the evening of March 6, a private house and a car were damaged in the Bucha district, while in the Vyshhorod district a private house and outbuildings were damaged.
During the night, about fifteen enemy UAVs were destroyed on the approaches to the Kyiv region, reported the head of the Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk. According to him, over the year of operation of the “Clean Sky” project, approximately 2,700 enemy aerial targets have already been destroyed.
On the night of March 7, three people were injured in the capital as a result of a Russian attack, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. Two of them were hospitalized by medics, while one received medical assistance on site.
In Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, debris caused smoke and a fire on the territory of non-residential buildings. In the Desnianskyi district, a fragment of a missile was found on the road. In the Dniprovskyi district, debris was discovered at three different locations.
As a result of last night’s enemy attack and damage to a critical infrastructure facility, 1,905 buildings in the Pecherskyi, Dniprovskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Solomianskyi districts were left without heating, the Kyiv City State Administration reported. Utility services are working to restore heat supply to these apartment buildings as quickly as possible. In total, nearly 2,700 buildings in the city remain without heating.
Soldiers of the 5th Separate Assault Kyiv Brigade received 1,300 UAVs of various types from the capital’s community. These include 1,000 FPV drones, among them 300 interceptor drones, as well as 300 Mavic quadcopters. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, since the beginning of this year the city has allocated 100 million UAH from the municipal budget to equip the brigade.
Zhytomyr oblast
On the night of March 7, during a combined missile and drone attack, the enemy struck several infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr region, reported the Head of the Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Bunechko. Some of the aerial targets were destroyed by air defense forces. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or injuries.
As a result of the Russian shelling, two fires broke out at infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr region, the State Emergency Service reported. Air raid alerts complicated firefighting operations. The fires were eventually extinguished by rescue teams.
Railway restoration is currently underway in the Zhytomyr region after it was damaged during the Russian attack. Significant damage to the railway tracks was recorded due to multiple drone strikes. Because of forced stops, rerouting, and several nighttime evacuations, a number of trains had to change their routes and were delayed on the way. Reserve diesel locomotives have been deployed to all sections where power supply was disrupted.
On March 6, the best rescuers of the Zhytomyr region were awarded state and departmental honors, certificates of appreciation, and valuable gifts for their courage, professionalism, and dedication, the Regional Military Administration reported. Volunteers from the Rapid Response Unit also received acknowledgments for their cooperation and assistance during emergency response operations.
Sumy oblast
The City Military Administration reported that Over the past two months, Sumy community and its surrounding areas have been attacked by nearly 2,000 UAVs of various types. More than 170 impacts have been recorded. Units of the Defence Forces managed to destroy or suppress around 1,800 targets.
Mykola Sachenko, Head of Verkhnie Pishchane starosta region, said that on 7 March at approximately 1:30 pm., a russian FPV drone strike damaged a shop in Verkhnie Pishchane. Windows in the shop were shattered and the roof was damaged.
In Stepanivka community on the morning of 7 March, an enemy UAV struck a civilian vehicle at a petrol station. The vehicle caught fire. A 24-year-old man who was driving was killed at the scene. A 22-year-old passenger managed to escape the vehicle and was taken to hospital with severe burns.

The National Police informed that on the morning of 7 March, a russian UAV struck a vehicle carrying law enforcement officers. The police officers were on their way to begin duty to ensure the safety of residents in border communities of Bilopillia region. As a result of the attack, two officers sustained blast injuries. A passenger vehicle was also damaged.
On the morning of 7 March Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that in Hlukhiv community, russian forces struck a civilian vehicle by a drone. A 47-year-old man was injured in the attack. He was hospitalised and is receiving the necessary medical assistance.
During the night of 7 March, the russian army attacked residential neighbourhoods of Sumy. According to Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the City Military Administration, impacts were recorded on two multi-apartment buildings in Kovpakivskyi district. Windows and balcony blocks were shattered in residential buildings and the surrounding area was damaged. More than 11 private vehicles were also damaged.
A base station providing mobile communication in Esman was destroyed as a result of russian shelling. The current security situation does not allow emergency restoration works to be carried out, Vodafone reported.
As of the morning of 7 March, four people were injured over the past day as a result of enemy attacks across Sumy oblast:
- In Sumy community, a 36-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man were injured in an enemy UAV strike;
- In Berezivka community, a 52-year-old man was injured in a drone attack;
- In Trostianets community, a 62-year-old man was injured in an enemy drone strike.
From the morning of 6 March to the morning of 7 March, russian forces carried out nearly 130 attacks on 47 settlements across 19 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Okhtyrska regions. The enemy used grenade launchers, mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted 22 hours and 38 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
- In Sumy community, multi-apartment residential buildings, civilian infrastructure facilities, an office building, non-residential premises and passenger vehicles were damaged;
- In Berezivka community, a lorry was damaged;
- In Trostianets community, non-residential premises, civilian infrastructure facilities and a passenger vehicle were damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, private residential houses and vehicles were damaged;
- In Hlukhiv community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, an administrative building and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Velyka Pysarivka community, a vehicle was destroyed;
- In Bezdryk community, passenger vehicles were damaged;
- In Verkhnia Syrovatka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Shalyhyne community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Esman community, private residential houses were destroyed;
- In Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Over the past day, 21 people were evacuated by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and civil society organisations from border communities.
The Regional Military Administration announced that educational institutions in Sumy oblast received energy support from Olena Zelenska Foundation. Ten schools and kindergartens received petrol-powered portable generators with a maximum capacity of 5.5 kW from a Turkish manufacturer.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that on 6 March, energy facilities in Novhorod-Siverskyi and Chernihiv regions came under russian attack. During the day, a russian FPV drone also struck a gymnasium in Semenivka community. The roof of the educational institution was damaged.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment reported that during the day on 6 March, russian forces attacked three border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (eight explosions) and tube artillery strikes (four explosions), launched a Molniia-type UAV (one explosion), attacked by FPV drones (14 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (seven explosions). Twelve settlements were under enemy fire.
The State Emergency Service in Chernihiv oblast informed that in Nizhynskyi regions, sappers of the State Emergency Service discovered and removed part of a russian missile.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, in the morning, occupying forces struck Nikopol by Hrad MLRS. A 48-year-old man was killed and a 69-year-old woman was injured.
Six multi-apartment residential buildings and 14 private houses, an enterprise, four outbuildings, three vehicles, solar panels, gas pipelines and power lines were damaged.
Occupying forces also attacked the regional centre, Marhanets and Pokrovske communities by artillery and drones. A UAV attack in Hubynykha community caused a fire and damaged an infrastructure facility. The enemy also struck Pokrovske community by UAVs, causing a private house to catch fire.
The enemy attacked by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities. Multi-apartment buildings, a private house, a farm enterprise and an outbuilding were damaged. A UAV strike in Shakhtarske caused a fire and damaged an administrative building.
UAV strikes were also recorded in Zelenodolsk and Apostolivska communities, causing fires and damaging infrastructure. The enemy also struck an infrastructure facility in Hubynykha community.
Vinnytsia oblast
Twenty-five-year-old marine Pavlo Shyshkin from Ladyzhyn in Vinnytsia oblast returned to Ukraine after nearly four years in russian captivity. He was released on 6 March during a prisoner exchange in which Ukraine secured the return of 300 defenders.
Kirovohrad oblast
On 7 March, Oleksandr Romashyn, a gunner of the 56th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade who had been released from russian captivity in February, was welcomed in Oleksandrivka community of Kropyvnytskyi region. Oleksandr had been captured in April 2022. On 1 November 2023, the “court” of the terrorist organisation “DNR” sentenced him to 30 years in prison.
Poltava oblast
Poltava Regional Military Administration reported that during the night, air defence forces operated in Poltava oblast during a mass aerial attack. In Lubenskyi region, debris from a UAV was recorded falling. Four residential houses and three outbuildings were damaged, including windows and roofing.
During the day, the enemy again attacked Poltava oblast. As a result of falling UAV debris, damage was recorded at an enterprise, a private household and a passenger vehicle. One person sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalised.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that air defence forces neutralised 14 russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast. In Shpola community, however, the fall of a drone destroyed a residential house and damaged two others, as well as outbuildings and several vehicles.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, on 7 March, 7 buildings (3 multi-apartment and 4 private houses) were damaged in Dniprovskyi district as a result of a russian attack.
Referring to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 6 March, the Defence Forces repelled 23 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. The russian troops attempted to advance near Myrne and Huliaipole, as well as toward Zaliznychne, Krynychne, Olenokostiantynivka, Varvarivka and in the areas of Stepnohirsk and Plavni.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that on 6 March, russian forces carried out 760 strikes on 41 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
An infant was injured in Zaporizhzhia as a result of a russian attack. Windows in at least 30 apartments of a multi-storey residential building were damaged.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, during the day on 7 March, the russian forces attacked an ambulance vehicle of an emergency medical brigade by an FPV drone in Kutsurub community. The driver and a female doctor were injured and hospitalised. They are receiving all necessary medical care.
As a result of the attack on Mykolaiv on 6 March, 3 men were injured, 2 of whom were hospitalised. 4 private houses, 2 high-rise buildings, 7 vehicles, an office premises, a private clinic building and a gas pipeline were damaged. A country house in Shevchenkove community was damaged due to a Shahed drone attack. Also, the russian military attacked Kutsurub community by an FPV drone. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
According to Odesa RMA, the russian military attacked port infrastructure in Odesa oblast. As a result of the strikes, tanks containing vegetable oil caught fire and a grain warehouse was damaged. Infrastructure damage was recorded at another port.

Kherson oblast
Relying on the information provided by Kherson Regional Military Administration, at around 1pm, russian forces struck Dniprovskyi district of Kherson by a UAV. The occupiers attacked a 29-year-old woman who was outside. She sustained blast trauma and a concussion.
A man who had been attacked by a russian drone earlier today at around 11am in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson sought medical assistance. The 65-year-old resident sustained blast trauma and a concussion.
The russian forces once again attacked a hospital in Kherson by a UAV. As a result of the attack, a 59-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to their limbs.
Since early morning, russian forces shelled Stepanivka village. As a result of the strike, a 46-year-old man sustained a concussion, blast trauma and a closed head injury.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
The death of Vitalii Karpuk, defender, resident of the village of Melnyky-Mostyshche, who was considered missing for a long time, born in 1976, has been confirmed. The Defender’s life was cut short on 21 July 2024, while performing a combat mission to defend Ukraine in Donetsk oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
A sambo championship was held in Uzhhorod, organized by the Western Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. The sports tournament was dedicated to the memory of the National Guard of Ukraine servicemen who were killed defending Ukraine. Among participants were military personnel returning to service and sports after injuries.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community has donated aid worth almost UAH 3m to the military. It was purchased within the framework of regional programs to support the region’s military formations.
Lviv oblast
The 5th veterans’ hub has opened in Sykhiv. Now veterans and their families have a place in their neighborhood where they can get support, advice, and just discussed to those who understand. Veterans themselves work here – on an equal footing.
Rivne oblast
The 1st group of students from Rivne oblast this year went to Artek for rehabilitation. These are 5 children of combatants, missing and deceased soldiers.
Ternopil oblast
The RMA reported that as part of the prisoner of war exchange held on 6 March 2026, 5 servicemen, residents of Ternopil oblast, were released from captivity.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The RMA reported that during the night attack, air defense forces shot down/suppressed 3 enemy drones.
Chernivtsi oblast
This night, the enemy carried out a massive attack on Chernivtsi oblast: 11 UAVs and 4 Caliber cruise missiles. The key target of the attack was energy infrastructure facilities in Dniester region. All relevant services are working at the affected areas, and work is underway to eliminate the consequences. There are no deaths or injuries. As of now, the situation in the oblast is fully controlled. All life support systems in the region are operating normally.
