The Ukrainian Women’s Guard (UWG) has implemented the project “UWG HUB Borodianka: Recovery and Rehabilitation for Women Affected by War and Russian Occupation”, aimed at creating a safe, functional, and energy-efficient space in Borodianka for women and children affected by the war and Russian occupation.
The UWG HUB serves as a comprehensive support center where women receive psychological, social, and legal assistance, as well as access to programs focused on economic recovery and capacity building. The space provides opportunities for individual and group therapy, educational programs, and training on economic empowerment, while also creating comfortable conditions for women to stay with their children.
As part of the project, a sustainable rehabilitation and psychological space was partially equipped, and key infrastructure improvements were implemented. Specifically, solar panels purchased earlier were installed and connected to the roof, ensuring energy efficiency and uninterrupted HUB operations amid unstable power supply; air conditioners were purchased and installed to maintain a comfortable indoor climate year-round; the premises were furnished to accommodate therapeutic, educational, and group activities; and a mobile ramp was purchased, increasing accessibility for women and visitors with reduced mobility or disabilities.
The project aimed to partially establish a sustainable, rehabilitation- and psychology-focused, and energy-efficient space to support women affected by the war, with a focus on recovery, social integration, and economic empowerment. Its implementation significantly improved service provision, strengthened the HUB’s sustainability, and expanded opportunities for long-term support of women in the community.
