The occupiers attacked Ukrainian positions in this direction eight times over the past day, including near Novosilka, Rozdolne, and Kostyantynopil, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The majority of assaults were repelled by Ukrainian defenders in the direction of Pokrovsk. Fighting continues in the settlement of Velyka Novosilka, where soldiers of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade are holding their positions. They are targeting Russian troops, who primarily hide in basements, using artillery and FPV drones, while occasionally counterattacking, the spokesperson of the 110th Brigade Ivan Sekach told Suspilne Donbas. On January 27, the Ukrainian command officially reported that Ukrainian army units avoided encirclement in Velyka Novosilka. Retreat and full occupation of the settlement were denied.

Other Developments

In the city of Chasiv Yar, where intense street battles and daily shelling persist, approximately 220 people remain. Residents have food supplies, but securing water is more challenging. Russian forces, aware of this, deliberately target people near the well.

Russian authorities had been planning the terrorist attack at Olenivka prison since May 2022, when the Ukrainian Mariupol garrison began surrendering. This conclusion was reached by six public organizations that submitted findings to the International Criminal Court, according to Roman Martynovskyi, a leading expert at the Regional Center for Human Rights. Evidence includes the arrival of Colonel Kyrylo Popov, the First Deputy Chief of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Moscow, to occupied Donetsk on May 16, 2022. Popov is considered the “overseer” of the prison camp for Azov prisoners.

Ukrainian investigators continue to collect evidence in the case of the terrorist attack. Multiple theories about the weapon used to attack the barrack housing Ukrainian prisoners of war are being explored, including a flamethrower, artillery shelling, and explosives planted inside the building, according to Roman Tsyb from the 18th Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The affected areas include Kadiivka, Brianka, Holubivka, Sokolohirsk, Zorynsk, Slovianoserbsk, Zymohiria, and other settlements. Efforts to repair the latest break in the main water pipeline are expected to last until February 3. Water systems in territories occupied since 2014 are increasingly failing due to almost 11 years of neglect. There is no mention of plans to deliver drinking or technical water to affected residents.

Medical Insurance Policy Requirement

In Novoaydar, Svatove, Sievierodonetsk, Rubizhne, and territories occupied for over a decade such as Rovenky, residents can apply for a mandatory medical insurance policy once a month. Without this document, hospitals in the so-called “LNR” refuse to provide services. To obtain the policy, residents are required to have a Russian passport. Mobile teams in each city operate for only five hours a month, attempting to serve all those who need or are forced to acquire the policy within this limited time.
