The situation at the front remains difficult and tense. The enemy, despite the significant losses suffered by our defenders, continues to try to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops.
A total of 119 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day.
Today, the areas of Oleksandrivka, Novovasylivka, Maiske and Kamen were hit by enemy artillery shelling in Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts from the territory of russia.
Towards Kharkiv, russian invaders attacked five times near Vovchansk and Hlyboke, our defenders repelled four attacks and another battle is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy actively attacked the positions of our troops 12 times near Kucherivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Pershotravneve, Zelenyi Hai and Lozova. Ukrainian troops are holding steadfastly, with ten firefights still ongoing.
Today, towards Lyman, the invading army made nine attacks on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Makiivka, Terny and Zarichne. Six battles are ongoing.
Towards Toretsk, russians tried to force our units out of their positions near Toretsk, where the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled four attacks.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy has already made 29 attempts to push our defenders from their positions near Myroliubivka, Promen, Lysivka, Dachenske, Zhovte, Shevchenko, Pushkino and Novopustianka. The defence forces are holding back the attack and have repelled 25 enemy attacks so far. The enemy’s losses are being clarified. The enemy launched an air strike on Myrnohrad.
Fighting continues near Sontsivka, Berestky, Zoria, Novodmytrivka, Kurakhove, Dalne, Dachne, Romanivka, Yelyzavetivka and Uspenivka towards Kurakhove. According to the updated information, 18 attacks by the occupation army were repelled as of today, 12 attacks are ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, four attacks by the invaders continue, and the enemy has made 10 attempts to advance near Zelene Pole, Novodarivka, Kostiantynopolske and Sukhi Yaly.
Towards Kherson, the enemy tried three times to drive Ukrainian troops from their positions to no avail.
Towards Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled twelve invaders’ attacks, and eight engagements are ongoing.
Towards Siversk, Kramatorsk, Huliaipole, Orikhiv and Kherson, the occupants continue to fire at the positions of our troops and civilian infrastructure using available means.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that JCB HMEE excavators have been approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The JCB HMEE excavator is an armoured special vehicle designed to perform a wide range of tasks. The agency noted that it is one of the most popular excavators in many armies around the world. The JCB HMEE weighs about 16 tonnes. It can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and provides full crew protection compliant with STANAG standards for protection against injury.
The sappers returned almost 35,500 sq km of land to use. During the year, the number of certified mine action operators increased from 6 to 69, while the number of deminers reached 4,021.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
In Kupiansk, a 65-year-old man was wounded by an enemy hit and hospitalised in a medical facility. The press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reports that a Molniia UAV could have hit a funeral service vehicle at around 11:30am.
At 10:06pm, Sivash village of Lozova region was under russian attack. According to the CMA, a building of a civilian enterprise was damaged as a result of a Shahed UAV attack.
The enemy also attacked with UAVs outside Zavadske and Odnorobivka in Bohodukhiv region, causing no casualties.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy conducted six offensive and assault actions in the areas of Vovchansk, Hlyboke and in the direction of Kozacha Lopana.
The number of combat engagements towards Kupiansk reached thirteen over the last day. Ukrainian defence forces repelled occupants’ attacks near Lozova, Stelmakhivka, Kolisnykivka and Pershotravneve.
49 people were evacuated from Borova and KupIansk.
Donetsk oblast
Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 44 attacks towards Pokrovsk and the same number towards Kurakhove yesterday.
Towards Pokrovsk, the russian army attempted to advance near Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Promin, Dachanske, Chumatske and Novopustianka.
Towards Kurakhove, Ukrainian troops are holding back the offensive near Sontsivka, Zoria, Dalne, Kurakhove, Yelyzavetivka and Hannivka, where the occupying forces tried to break through their defences 44 times.
Filashkin, Head of the RMA, reported that two guided aerial bombs were dropped by the russian army on the morning of 4 December on Kostiantynivka. The russian army carried out two air strikes at around 11:15am. According to him, a FAB-250 with an UMPK module was also damaged. high-rise buildings, businesses, power lines and a gas pipeline. Four men aged 29, 33, 37 and 71 were wounded. At the time of the attack, they were near a shop. The victims were diagnosed with mine-blast injuries, contusion and bruises.
Yesterday russians killed 4 residents and 11 others were wounded, including a baby. Police recorded 3,093 enemy attacks on the frontline and residential areas.
Russian troops shelled 9 settlements: Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Toretsk,Voskresenka, Dachne, Zvirove, Kotlyne and Novoiverske.
80 civilian objects were damaged, including 42 residential buildings.
Donetsk RMA said that russia attacked Pokrovsk with an UMPB D-30SN bomb, artillery and drones, killing a woman and injuring three civilians, including a girl born in 2024. 13 apartment buildings and 6 private houses, an educational institution, a garage, 6 cars, and a gas pipeline were destroyed. 700 families were left without gas.
The occupiers shelled Kostiantynivka with two FAB-250 aerial bombs and artillery, killing a civilian and wounding four others. The attack damaged 22 apartment buildings, a private house, 11 civilian vehicles, an educational institution, garages and critical infrastructure. The attack was carried out during the night,’ said .
The enemy dropped two UMPB D-30SN bombs on Druzhkivka, injuring two civilians, damaging two enterprises, critical infrastructure and a civilian car.
In Kotlynne, a russian drone attacked a civilian car, killing one person and injuring another.
Russians killed one person in Dachne. A civilian was wounded in Zvirove as a result of a drone strike.
In Novoiverske, a drone strike damaged an administrative building, and in Voskresenka, two civilian cars.
On 2 December, while evacuating people from Pokrovsk community, a russian drone hit a car of Base ua volunteers, injuring two women. Police said that cases of such “hunting” have become more frequent.

Serhii Pryimachuk, Director of the Holy Mountains National Park, said that more than 6,000 hectares of the Holy Mountains National Park burned down due to russian shelling and fires in 2024. This is at least UAH 54bn in environmental damage to Donetsk oblast. Despite the mining and the risk of shelling, the forests continue to be restored. In particular, at the end of November, almost two hundred trees were planted in the village of Novoselivka.
Luhansk oblast
The enemy’s artillery support is stable, but the use of unmanned aerial vehicles has increased significantly. According to the rma, yesterday russians sent 103 drones towards Luhansk which is 1.5-2 times more than in the previous days. They fired from cannon artillery 13 times. They also fired from a multiple launch rocket system. An air strike was launched. The invaders attacked near Stelmakhivka, Novoiehorivka and Hrekivka.
Raids on conscripts have intensified in the occupied Luhansk oblast. Employees of military registration and enlistment offices are conducting checks in public places and visiting addresses they have. The main task is to force young people to sign a contract with the russian army, bypassing military service. Previously, this could only be done after at least three months of military service.
In Siverskodonetsk, the invaders disrupted the heating season. In 2023 and 2024, during the summer months, there were many promises about the possible switching on of heating. This year, they even managed to launch a boiler house, but its capacity was not enough for the residential area, which consists of high-rise buildings. The heat carrier simply does not reach many blocks. The russians did not have time to lay heating mains in a number of other districts of the city. In those buildings where heating has been installed, the radiators are barely warm. There are numerous gusts. The lack of emergency crews only creates the effect of being present in open areas.
Over the past two months, the russians in the so-called “lpr” have opened 68 relevant criminal proceedings for alleged support for Ukraine. Also russian law enforcement agencies are trying to squeeze the maximum out of russian legislation by persecuting the local population. A person can be suspected for calling his or her family or a schoolchild logging into a personal account on a Ukrainian website.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
In Kyiv oblast, there are 466 Invincibility Centres set up thanks to the coordinated cooperation of local authorities, the State Emergency Service, responsible businesses and Ukrzaliznytsia. All of them are equipped with generators, which allows for autonomous operation in the case of power outages. The centres have internet access, hot drinks and basic amenities.
The RMA reported that oblast continues to expand medical rehabilitation services for adults and children. It is planned to provide such services in 14 medical institutions. This year, 2 rehabilitation modules of the social franchise were opened, expanding the availability of rehabilitation services. The facilities are open to female and male veterans, their families and civilians.
In Kyiv, citizens have begun to declare found weapons and ammunition to the police. Once registered, the weapons are considered legal. Dmytro Shumeiko, Head of Kyiv police, informed that after an application from a person who has a firearm or has found it and wishes to keep it, experts will inspect the weapon, register it and issue the owner with a relevant document. It is noted that both hunting and small arms, as well as ammunition for them, are subject to declaration.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo visited the capital for the fifth time during the full-scale war. Kyiv and Paris signed a twinning agreement during Ms Hidalgo’s first visit, which took place in April 2022.
The Regional Military Administration reported that in Kyiv oblast, inpatient institutions for lonely elderly people and people with disabilities received specialised vehicles and physiotherapy equipment for rehabilitation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Kyiv City State Administration reported that on 3 December, the Museum of the History of Kyiv presented the art project “Heart Out. Palette of Memory” in honour of the fallen defenders. The event featured artworks created by relatives and friends of the fallen soldiers. For the authors, these works became a way to express their emotions, find solace, and perpetuate the memory of the heroes’ deeds.
Zhytomyr oblast
Ivanna Siletska, Spokeswoman of the Main Department of the National Police in Zhytomyr oblast reported that In Zhytomyr oblast, police explosive experts found and defused an unexploded warhead of a russian X-101 missile that fell in a field near a village without detonating.
According to her, the police examine the places where fragments of drones, missiles or ammunition fell after each shelling of Ukrainian territory by russian troops.
Mayor Oleksandr Sytailo reported that the city of Malyn received more than 1,300 solar panels from German partners. According to him, the solar panels will be installed on the city’s critical infrastructure. In particular, they will help provide the community with centralised water supply and sewerage during power outages.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on 3 December, the russian army launched a missile strike on infrastructure in Shostka community of Sumy oblast. The missile strike destroyed several infrastructure facilities in the community, damaged 12 private houses, a kindergarten, and other social facilities.
During the day, russians carried out 49 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 116 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Druzhbivka, Seredyna-Buda and Znob-Novhorod communities.
Myropillia community: one GAB was launched from an enemy aircraft (1 explosion). In addition, there was mortar shelling (7 explosions).
Sumy community: one GAB was launched from an enemy aircraft (1 explosion).
Seredyna-Buda community: the enemy struck by mortars (9 explosions) and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions).
Khotin community: the russians struck by artillery (34 explosions).
Velyka Pysarivka community: ammunition was dropped from enemy UAVs (7 explosions), a strike by FPV-drones (2 explosions), mortar shelling (4 explosions).
Esman community: the russians dropped 19 mines on the territory of the community. 2 explosive devices were also dropped from a UAV (explosions).
Znob-Novgorod community: an explosive device was dropped from a UAV (1 explosion).
Bilopollia community: 3 ammunition was dropped by enemy UAVs (3 explosions), there was also mortar shelling (4 explosions).
Shalyhyne community: shelling was carried out by FPV-drones (3 explosions).
Krasnopollaa community: explosive devices were dropped from an enemy UAV (7 explosions), there was also mortar shelling (6 explosions).
Druzhbivka community: russians hit by FPV-drones (3 explosions).
Chernihiv oblast
Viktoriia Datsiuk, Head of Pakul Starostyn Region, informed that on 3 December, around 10pm, a russian drone crashed in Pakul in Chernihiv oblast. The crash resulted in the destruction of farm buildings and damage to windows and doors in residential houses.
On 3 Desember russian army attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast. In total, 52 explosions were recorded.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community:
– 1 explosion, probably an explosive device dropped from a UAV, towards Mykhalchyna Sloboda village.
Semenivka community:
– 4 explosions (probably by 120mm mortar) in Leonivka village;
– 5 explosions (probably by artillery) in Liskivshchyna village;
– 4 explosions (probably by artillery) and 5 explosions (probably by FPV-drones) in the area of Karpovychi village;
– 2 explosions (probably by FPV-drone) in the area of Kostobobriv village;
– 5 explosions (probably UAV drops) and 10 explosions (probably by an 82mm mortar) in the area of Halahanivka village;
– 2 explosions (probably by 120mm mortar) towards Mykolaivka village;
– 6 explosions (probably by drones) near Hremiachka village.
Horodnia community:
– 8 explosions (probably by FPV-drones) towards Senkivka village.
No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that three more veterans from Nizhyn and Pryluky regions have received housing certificates. Last week, 13 certificates were handed out in Chernihiv, and an additional 14 are now being distributed to veterans in local communities. This year, nearly UAH 150m were allocated for housing for veterans from Chernihiv oblast as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
A tragic day for Nikopol region as the occupiers fired at civilians. An 88-year-old woman was killed. A 64-year-old man was injured and received all the necessary medical care. In total, there were about two dozen attacks in the area during the day. The enemy targeted Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrov and Myrove communities. Six private houses, two outbuildings, three greenhouses, a police car and a passenger car were damaged, and a gas pipeline was also hit.
Vinnytsia oblast
It became known that nine defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were killed. These are Anatolii Bozniak, Anatolii Zamirko, Anatolii Dovhan, Serhii Postovoi, Oleksandr Smirnov, Vadym Parovai, Oleksandr Koliadych, Anton Karavan and Yurii Hanzhalavii.
In Vinnytsia oblast, a private house caught fire as a result of an enemy attack. The family living in the house — parents and three children — managed to escape and were not injured. The house, car and outbuildings were partially destroyed. Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters extinguished the fire. Police document the consequences of the russian drone strike. Debris was found at the site.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad oblast, reported that providing veterans with their own housing is an important component of the “Heroes’ Policy”. At the beginning of the year, the region received the first tranche of this year’s housing compensation subvention – almost UAH 75m for 38 defenders. The funds were distributed to 10 communities in the oblast. The defenders will receive them on their cards and will be able to choose their own apartments or buy a house. The process is controlled from the first step to the entrance.
Four defenders were killed in the war with russia. These are Andrii Zahorulko from the Pryiutivka community, who died on 2 December as a result of a serious illness. Oleh Bondar from Petrivka community, died on 29 November 2024 as a result of a firefight near the city of Toretsk, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.
Yurii Nedostupa from Oleksandriia, who was killed on 25 November during a combat mission near Yantarne, Donetsk oblast. He was 31 years old.
And Stanislav Stadnik from Nova Praha, a fighter who died on 24 November in Kyiv.
Poltava oblast
The Poltava community paid the last tribute to Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Kyrychenko, who was killed in action on 24 November 2024 in Donetsk oblast.
A “Charity Flea Market” will be organised in Poltava, where you can donate used items in good condition. They will be re-sold, and the proceeds will be used to raise funds for air defence.
Cherkasy oblast
Air defence forces were working in the oblast. They shot down four Shahids. There were no casualties or damage.
A day of mourning was declared in the Uman community in connection with the death of defender Bohdan Dorokhov. The 23-year-old soldier was killed in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday the occupiers launched 395 attacks on 11 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted eight airstrikes on Huliaipole. 214 UAVs of various types targeted Bilenke, Lobkove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Malynivka, Novodarivka, and Olhivske. Eight MLRS strikes hit Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, and Novodarivka, while 165 artillery strikes targeted Lobkove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Malynivka, Novodarivka, and Olhivske. Reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure were received in four instances.
According to the “South” Operational Command, the enemy carried out 10 attacks towards Zaporizhzhia, targeting areas near Novodarivka and Novopil. The occupiers continue rotation activities on the front line towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv, maintain personnel training for assault operations, and conduct aerial and engineering surveys.
Mykolaiv oblast
On the night of 4 December, air defense forces destroyed three Shahed 131/136 UAVs in Mykolaiv oblast.
Yesterday, 3 December, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community three times with FPV drones. Additionally, at 2pm, the community suffered an artillery strike. As a result of one of the attacks, a power line was damaged in the village of Ivanivka, but it was repaired.
Also, earlier today, 4 December, at 12:20am, the enemy shelled the waters of Ochakiv community with mortars. There were no casualties.
It is reported that russian military forces on the occupied Kinburn Spit in Mykolaiv oblast increased the number of units defending the peninsula. There are artillery and air defense systems, among others. According to the Southern Defense Forces spokesperson, Vladyslav Voloshyn, russian forces deployed additional troops to Kinburn to strengthen control over the Dnipro Bay.
On 3 December, family members and colleagues planted over 7,000 Crimean pine seedlings in Vradiivka in memory of the fallen forest ranger and soldier, Mykhailo Myronenko. In one day, nearly one hectare of forest, named in his honor, was planted. Also, a memorial plaque was installed near the local forestry office in tribute to the serviceman.
Odesa oblast
As of 6am on 4 December, four carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles were located in the Black Sea, with a combined potential salvo of up to 24 missiles. Six enemy ships were in the Mediterranean Sea, including four carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to 41 missiles.
Over the past 24 hours, eight vessels passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea, and five ships transited into the Sea of Azov in the interests of the russian federation.
Kherson oblast
On 4 December, russian military forces shelled settlements in Kherson oblast using artillery and drones. As of 5:30pm, one civilian was reported killed and nine others were injured. A 67-year-old man was killed in the morning in Antonivka due to an explosive device dropped from a drone. Three more people were wounded in this settlement, and another person was injured in the nearby village of Kindiika. Additionally, injuries were reported among two men in Kherson, one resident in Mylove village, and two others in Veletenske.
A resident of Beryslav sought medical attention after being injured in a russian attack the previous day. The 52-year-old man was diagnosed with blast trauma and a concussion. Later, Kherson RMA reported that a resident of Tomaryne village, injured overnight by a russian drone strike, also required medical care. The 22-year-old man sustained blast injuries, a concussion, and wounds to his face, shoulder, thigh and shin.
In total, three residents of Kherson oblast were killed, and five were injured due to russian shelling. Yesterday russian forces targeted settlements including Kherson, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Tomyna Balka, Komyshany, Stanislav, Novovorontsovka, Novoraisk, Mykhailivka and Beryslav. Twelve private homes, a school, and a kindergarten were damaged. Law enforcement in Kherson oblast opened 23 criminal cases related to war crimes committed by russian military personnel over the past day.
Islands in the Dnipro estuary remain a priority target for russian forces. Over the past day, the enemy conducted seven unsuccessful assaults. Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces eliminated 141 russian personnel and destroyed eight artillery systems, 20 vehicles and armored units, one Shahed-136 drone, four motorcycles, two boats, three generators, one Starlink system, and an electronic warfare dugout. Additionally, six bunkers, two personnel shelters, three observation posts, one firing position, and an ammunition and fuel depot were hit.
Volunteers from the Support Kherson foundation, working clandestinely in the occupied left-bank areas of Kherson oblast, delivered food and medicine packages to residents. The support was warmly welcomed, as it boosted morale among those under occupation. Activists from the foundation also visibly demonstrate Ukrainian presence by displaying national symbols across the occupied areas.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society installed four more mobile shelters in Kherson oblast. Each shelter can accommodate 10–15 people. Currently, there are 37 such shelters in operation across the region, providing crucial protection to civilians.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk community sent a set of remote antenna AVANGER Booster (a dual-band signal amplifier for quadcopters), a DJI Mavic 3T quadcopter, 15 multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (FPV), 2 DJI Mavic 3 Pro RC quadcopters and a DJI Mavic 3T quadcopter Enterprise Thermal to the Military Unit A0656. The Military Unit A4935 received a Synytsia 3.5 K electronic warfare tool. The Military Unit A1619 received a DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise Thermal quadcopter, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Pro RC quadcopters and 10 VRK-8 UAVs with a day camera.
Zakarpattia oblast
The deputy corps of Zakarpattia Regional Council sent a Peugeot Boxer ambulance to the Military Unit T0950. This year is already the 3rd ambulance for the military.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
For children from families of the killed, missing and prisoners of war defenders, a festive event was organized for St. Nicholas Day. It took place within the framework of the Care for the Hero’s Family regional project.
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 20 FPV drones to the 76th Battalion of the 102nd Brigade thanks to the budget funds.
Lviv oblast
Ihor Cherevatov, soldier from Korostiv, Skoliv community, Strii region, was awarded an For Wounding award by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Another 15,000 anti-personnel “hedgehogs” were sent from Lviv oblast to the zone of active hostilities thanks to the Doskich Family CF.
Rivne oblast
RMA representatives held a meeting with veterans and their family members in Sarny. This is the 1st of a number of planned such outreach events in communities.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopol City Council reported that 18 military personnel will receive UAH 10,000 each for the purchase of necessary equipment and technical means.
Ternopol City Council reported that the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade received a Toyota Hilux vehicle, which will serve to perform combat tasks on the front line.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Oblast sent sets of bomber drones to fighters who are on the front lines thanks to the Center for Assistance to Kamian Residents Participating in Anti-Terrorist Operation CF.
Chernivtsi oblast
Primary medical care centers in the oblast received 5 Renault Duster. Cars was purchased by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as part of the Global Fund Grant Agreement (Project “Strengthening the Health Care and Life Saving System”) between Ukraine and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
German troops can take part in ensuring peace in Ukraine. According to Annalena Berbock, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, this is possible if a ceasefire is reached between Ukraine and the russian federation.
The Ministry of Economy reported that Finland will join the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Agne Bilotaite, Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, was approved that the country banned taking driver’s license exams in russian. It is designed to support the use of the Lithuanian language, promote the integration of foreigners into public life, and improve cooperation with other EU member states.
