War in Ukraine today: latest news, 4 April, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 771st day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 4 April, 57x tactical engagements were reported.

The enemy launched a total of 2x missile and 61x airstrikes, 49x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Residential apartment blocks and private houses as well as other infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.

Volyn and Polissia axes: no significant changes. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were found. 

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of settlements of Volfyne (Sumy oblast) and Ohirtseve (Kharkiv oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 20x settlements, including Popivka (Chernihiv oblast), Bachivsk, and Ulanove (Sumy oblast).

Kupiansk axis: the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15x settlements, including Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, and Kotliarivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian troops repelled 4x attacks of the adversary in the vicinity of Terny and Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast). With the air support, the enemy attempted to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in that area. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, and Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian troops repelled more than 20x attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske (Luhansk oblast), Spirne, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). With the air support, the invaders attempted to improve their tactical position in that area. Also, the adversary launched air strikes in the vicinity of settlement of Druzhba (Donetsk oblast). More than 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, and Chasiv Yar (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2x attacks in the vicinities of Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy attempted to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions in that area. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Oleksandropil, Ocheretyne, Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, and Berdychi (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).

Novopavlivka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kostyantynivka, Novomykhailivka, Velyka Novosilka, and Urozhaine. With the air support, the invaders made 19x attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in that area. Also, the adversary launched air strikes in the vicinity of Volodymyrivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10x settlements, including Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Orikhiv axis: on 4 April, with the air support, the enemy launched 3x unsuccessful attempts to attack the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinities of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast) and northwest of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Also, the invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20x settlements, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Chervone, and Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Kherson axis: the enemy does not abandon its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. On 4 April, the enemy launched 5x attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Zolota Balka, Kizomys, and Antonivka (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1x concentration of troops, weapons, and military equipment, 2x artillery systems, 1x radar station, 1x electronic warfare station , and 2x air defense systems of the russian invaders.


Oleksandr Produkin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that 4 more children from Kherson oblast were returned to the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. These are a 14-year-old girl with disabilities, a 12-year-old boy and 2 boys aged 15. 

Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology National Research Centre informed that due to russian shelling, the Neutron Source nuclear facility in Kharkiv was de-energised. There is no threat to the environment or people. The emergency power supply system operated properly.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that yesterday Ukrainian troops repelled 57 russian attacks on the frontlines of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts on 3 April. The russian army attacked with the support of aviation towards Novopavlivka.

Kharkiv oblast

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that at 12:47pm, the invaders attacked between the settlements of Kharkiv region. The missile landed in a field where employees of an agricultural enterprise were working at the time. The impact killed a 36-year-old man who was in a tractor at the time of the strike. 55 and 21 years old men were injured.  Agricultural machinery was damaged.

Starting from 1:16am, at least 15 enemy drones were launching at Kharkiv, some of them were shot down by air defence forces. The hits were recorded in Novobavarskyi district, Slobidskyi and Saltivskyi districts of the city. Four people were killed and 12 sustained injuries of varying degrees: 3 in critical condition, 5 moderate, the rest light.  Among them: nine civilians, a nurse, a rescuer and a policeman.

At 5:29am, a UAV hits a business building in Lozova. There were no casualties.

At 3:05am, Balakliia highway, Chuhuiv region, Zmiivska thermal power station were attacked. The damage is being repaired. There were no casualties.

At 2:08am, Lozova was hit. 5 cars were on fire. There were no casualties.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the names and ages of the State Emergency Service employees who were killed as a result of a second strike on Kharkiv while they were rescuing people. These are 52-year-old Vladyslav Lohinov, 41-year-old Volodymyr Matiushenko and 32-year-old Serhii Baidalinov.

The press service of Energy Ministry reported that a 64-year-old locksmith at Kharkiv city branch of Gas Distribution Networks was injured while liquidating the aftermath of a night drone attack on Kharkiv. He was taken to hospital in moderate condition. The vehicle of the dispatch service was also damaged.

Serhii Hrushevskyi, Head of the emergency rescue unit for the elimination of the consequences of emergencies, reported that residents are not allowed to enter a house in Novobavarskyi district, where rescuers have rescued a man tripped under rubble from the third floor. There is a threat of structural collapse.

The press service of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate said that the Neutron Source nuclear subcritical facility in Kharkiv has been de-energised following the strikes on Kharkiv on 4 April. After the power outage, the emergency power supply system was activated and diesel generators started working. According to the state inspectorate, the radiation situation at the site is within normal limits.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, informed that Kharkiv has extended the time of power outages due to russian strikes on critical infrastructure facilities on 4 April. According to the Energy Ministry, 350,000 consumers in Kharkiv and the oblast are currently without electricity.

The day before, about 20 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered enemy artillery and mortar attacks: Veterynarne, Strilecha, Krasne and others. Slobozhanske, Vovchansk, Holubivka, Kupiansk, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Kalynove and Borova were hit by airstrikes.

At 7pm, two private houses were damaged as a result of the shelling of Ivashky village, Bohodukhiv region. There were no casualties.

At 6:27pm, the enemy launched an X-59MK-1 missile at Merefa, Kharkiv region. It hit the production building of the enterprise. 12 houses were damaged. A 65-year-old civilian woman was injured, she had an acute stress reaction, but was not hospitalised. A 55-year-old man sustained an explosive injury.

At 11am, a private house, a car were damaged and a 69-year-old man injured as a result of shelling in Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.

At 10:50am, the building of a banking institution was damaged as a result of hostile shelling in Borova, Izium region. There were no casualties.

At 9:10am, Synelnykove, Chuhuiv region, was hit by KAB bombs. There were no casualties.

At 9:05am, Vovchansk was under enemy attack from an unidentified aerial vehicle. A residential building was damaged. There were no casualties.

At 9am, Lyptsi settlement, Kharkiv region, was under artillery attack. There were no casualties.

There were no hostile attacks towards Kupiansk yesterday.

Combined teams of explosive experts cleared 207.87 hectares of mines and destroyed 518 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, at 6:30am, russian troops fired on Mykolaivka of Kostiantynivka community. One person was injured and residential buildings damaged in the shelling.

Yesterday police registered 1683 attacks in the oblast. The enemy used aircraft, S-300 air defence systems and artillery. Selydove and Toretsk cities, Kurakhivka settlement, Halytsynivka, Novoselivka Persha and Stara Mykolaivka villages were hit. 63 civilian objects were damaged, including 39 residential buildings, administrative buildings, a business, a restaurant, a shop, trade kiosks, outbuildings, garages, cars and power grids.

The enemy attacked Selydove by five S-300 missiles and damaged 13 apartment buildings, 8 private houses, administrative buildings and an enterprise.

The invaders hit Toretsk by a KAB-250 guided missile. Two apartment buildings, 8 private houses, a shop, 5 trade kiosks and a car were destroyed.

Also russian troops dropped another KAB-250 on Stara Mykolaivka, damaging two private houses and cutting off electricity.

Artillery shelling damaged private housing: three houses in Kurakhivka, two in Halytsynivka and another house burned down in Novoselivka Persha.

Serhii Tsehotskyi, officer of the 59th brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk, reported that towards Avdiivka, russian troops are trying to advance near Pervomaiske, while towards Novobakhmutivka near Ocheretyne, Lastochkyne – Sieverne – Tonenke.

Commender of the Achilles strike aircraft battalion said that soldiers destroyed over 689 russian military targets, including over 190 pieces of equipment, towards Bakhmut in March.

In Mariupol, the russian military equipment was spotted moving, with a new marking on it. According to Mariupol Mayor’s Councillor Petro Andriushchenko, the equipment was moving from Berdiansk direction to the Illich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled enemy attacks near Andriivka and Bilohorivka. The enemy attacked Stelmakhivka from the sky and Nevske by mortars and artillery.

We check on every liberated village near the frontline where people still live once every few days. The locals refuse to evacuate, but they need all the help they can get. Medicines and household goods were brought to Nevske and Novoliubivka. Bread and food are delivered weekly as usual. Krasnorichensk military administration, philanthropists and Luhansk police helped organise and deliver the aid.

A coniferous forest has been burning around the occupied Smolianynove, near Sievierodonetsk, for more than three days. The occupation authorities and firefighters have information about the emergency, but do not respond to the fire.

The population of the so-called “lpr” is not informed about how many thousands of men will be drafted into the russian army in the spring. Officially, they are looking for recruits aged 18-30, but older men are also under the threat of mobilisation. In case of failure to appear when summoned or absence at the place of residence, they are put on the wanted list.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, during his visit to Ukraine, travelled to the Hostomel Airport, where active hostilities took place from winter to spring 2022. In Hostomel the leader of Finland met some of the soldiers responsible for the protection of the airport, the strategic object crucial for the russians’ plan to lend military aircrafts with heavy equipment during the assault on Kyiv in February 2022.

According to the regional military administration, 272 internally displaced persons were employed in local communities of Kyiv oblast since the beginning of 2024, with 87% of them being women. Furthermore, internally displaced persons have access to study vouchers or micro-grants for the development or creation of their businesses.

Based on the information provided by the city council of Bucha, the recruitment of people willing to serve in the voluntary formation of the territorial community (VFTC) was announced. Candidates are expected to pass the medical. professional and psychological testing. VFTC fighters will be participating in mobile groups responsible for the elimination of russian Shaheds, checking of bomb shelters, protection of critical infrastructure, and securing of public order.

In Kyiv, veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are going to receive unpaid tuition regarding peculiarities of work in state bodies. Ministry of Veterans Affairs proclaims the assistance in professional growth and increase in qualification of the veterans who aim to connect their professional career with civil service and local self-government to be the aim of education.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced the entry of the second train with wagons presented by Warsaw to the green branch of Kyiv subway. Overall, the capital of Poland sent 60 wagons to Kyiv as charitable assistance. The first such train started to function in November 2023.

The official news portal of Kyiv announced the presentation of the exhibition called “Kyiv Defence Exhibition: Who protected Kyiv through the millennia and how they did it” in Kyiv History Museum. The exhibition commemorates the second anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv oblast from the russian occupiers and impersonates the collective images of the city defenders in different historical periods.

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitalii Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, signed the Memorandum on cooperation with military pilots. Comprehensive cooperation will optimize the necessary material and technical assistance to combat units, as well as popularize the military service in society and highlight the achievements of defenders of the Ukrainian sky.

In Zviahel, the project for building seven smart flats for internally displaced persons has been announced. Overall construction cost exceeds UAH 5m with UAH 2m being invested into the building reconstruction by Zviahel city council from the city budget. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Modern Format non-governmental organization and is planned for release before the end of May.

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy RMA, russians launched two attacks at the border areas. There were 2 mortar strikes on the Esman community and 2 explosions in the Krasnopillia community as the result of KAB shelling.

The RMA added that during the previous day, the russian military shelled Sumy oblast 11 times, with 46 resulting explosions. The enemy dropped explosive devices from UAVs in the area of Yunakivka, attacked Velyka Pysarivka by mortars and grenade launchers, kamikaze UAV attack and unguided air missile (UAM) airstrike with overall 6 explosions. Six explosions after UAM shelling are reported in Bilopillia. 

Krasnopillia suffered from 4 grenade launcher strikes, two artillery strikes and 1 UAM attack. 

Sumy police Office reports damage to 3 buildings on the territory of the agricultural enterprise and power lines due to an airstrike in Krasnopillia. One person was killed, a child and two civilians injured as a result of a missile attack on the village of Samotoivka on 3 April. The community also reports damage to a store, cultural center building, 5 cars, hospital premises, post office, kindergartens, lyceum premises, 20 private houses and an apartment. 

On 2 April, russian troops dropped 2 guided aerial bombs on a factory in Sumy. The factory used to produce bricks, paving stones, and other products crucial for reconstruction. The shelling destroyed a warehouse and equipment products. The company reports the estimated damage to be around UAH 15m. The on-site inspection of the production building and adjacent premises is ongoing.

In a week, border guards stopped three hostile subversion groups trying to enter to Sumy oblast. Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of the RMA, reported that overall during 2023, 52 subversion groups from the russian federation were detained on the borders of Ukraine.

In Sumy oblast, 39 heroes received state awards posthumously. Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of the RMA, presented the awards to the relatives of the fallen servicemen.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, russian troops launched 5 mortar attacks on Semenivka community.

National Health Services of Ukraine reports about the functioning of 4 outpatient clinics damaged during the russian occupation. Outpatient clinics in Nova Basan, Nova Bykov, Kobyzhcha and Bobrovytsia have resumed the free provision of diagnostic services while being more comfortable with new furniture and equipment. The Supporting Health Care Reform USAID project within the framework of the Restoration of Access to Medical Care program turned the project into reality.

The National Police of Chernihiv oblast reported that the police evacuated a pensioner from the border village of Lubiane, Semenivka community, 2km from the border with russia.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the invaders were shelling Nikopol region. They launched two kamikaze drones at the district centre, damaging a private house. Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities were shelled three times by artillery. About 15 shells were launched. A gymnasium and a village cultural centre were damaged.

During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region 8 times. They attacked three times with kamikaze drones and fired artillery 5 times. The district centre, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities were hit. In Chervonohryhorivka community, the gas pipeline was hit, leaving about 5,000 homes without gas, the water supply system was also hit, leaving about 3,000 customers without water, and 3 power lines damaged. A petrol station and a lyceum, a car and an infrastructure facility were damaged.

Power outage schedules have been introduced in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The reason was the lack of sufficient generating capacity in the system. This is a result of recent massive russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants.

An interactive safety class was opened at a school in Dnipro Oblast Council.  It was equipped with dummy explosives, medical and firefighting equipment. A psychological relief zone was also created in the room. This will allow children of all ages to learn the basics of fire and mine safety, rules of conduct in emergency situations, and first aid in a playful way.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Vinnytsia City Council informed that a charity volleyball tournament among teachers raised more than UAH 16,000 for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Vinnytsia oblast is implementing a project to employ, train and restore businesses for internally displaced people. Currently, about 155,000 of them live in the oblast.

Kirovohrad oblast

Mykhailo Troian from Vilshanka community and Hryhorii Tilnyi from Ketrysanivka community were killed in the war with russia. The latter had been missing for over a year.

Poltava oblast

Poltavaoblenerho JSC reported that the schedule of emergency power outages has been introduced in Poltava oblast. It will last from 6:19pm to 10 pm by order of Ukrenerho NPC.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that  drones, communications equipment and air defence training equipment were donated from the oblast to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported the russian army carried out 320 strikes on nine towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast on 3 April. Specifically, 38 UAVs attacked Hulyiaipole, Levadne, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka and Malynivka, and other settlements were hit by aircraft, MLRS and artillery. 

According to the State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia oblast, three fires broke out in Orikhiv and Preobrazhenka as a result of russian shelling. According to rescuers, warehouses and three residential buildings were on fire. 

Enerhoatom reported that due to the shelling by russia, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP was once again left with only one power line. Currently, the nuclear power plant is connected to the Ukrainian power grid by only one power line, the 750kV overhead line Dniprovska, which has recently been restored by Ukrainian power engineers. 

38 silver crucian carp, one pike perch and a white cupid with no signs of life were found by fisheries patrol inspectors in Vyrva tract in Zaporizhzhia. The probable cause of the fish deaths is the leakage of oil products as a result of the russian attack on Dnipro hydroelectric power station on 22 March.

Mykolaiv oblast

According Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 3 April, russian troops attacked settlements in the oblast by artillery and drones. Around 5:30pm, a Lancet drone was spotted outside the village of Koblivka community. At 5:31pm and 6:15pm, the enemy fired artillery shells at the water area of the Ochakiv community. The russian army attacked Kutsurub community and its open area by artillery five times. There were no casualties. 

The Armed Force if Ukraine reported that during reconnaissance in the southern direction, operators of the 73rd Maritime Centre of the Ukrainian Armed Forces discovered russian servicemen building new fortifications and a command post. The coordinates were passed to the rocket and artillery unit and HIMARS fire was adjusted. The estimated losses of the occupying army are 14 killed and 7 injured. 

Yehor Vyshniakov, Director of the Restoration of Southern Ukraine charity organisation, stated that volunteers in Mykolaiv are converting four-wheel drive vehicles into case packs for the frontline. The money is raised by representatives of the Mission Ukraine Foundation in the UK, where the vehicles are purchased. In addition, the charity is re-equipping boats used to evacuate the wounded from the left bank of Kherson oblast. 

Odesa oblast

Bart Gruyaert, Director of Neo Eco Ukraine, announced that the French NEO ECO and Neo-Eco Ukraine, commissioned by Odesa Regional State Administration, are launching a project to study the region’s ports with a view to further dredging them and changing the sediment and waste management system. This project can improve the economic viability of ports and help Ukraine move closer to EU standards. 

Courageous, strong and highly professional — soldiers of the Omega Special Forces Centre of the National Guard of Ukraine celebrated the anniversary of the unit’s creation and ran a 10-kilometre cross-country race to honour the memory of their fallen comrades. Each of them had a sticker on their T-shirt with a photo of a soldier who had already joined the heavenly army.

Kherson oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Kherson, russian proxies shelled more than 10 settlements by artillery and mortars yesterday, specifically, Zolota Balka, Kizomys and Antonivka. 

At night, the russian military shelled Poniativka for three hours. After the attack, the villagers began to complain of vision and breathing problems. Ten people were hospitalised with signs of poisoning. 

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, on 3 March, russian troops shelled Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Kizomys, Beryslav, Tyahyntsi, Zolota Balka, Osokorivka and Kherson. A school, a kindergarten and five private houses were damaged. There were no casualties. 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that the community sent 2 DJI MAVIC 3 quadcopters and an EcoFlow charging station to the military unit 7788.

Zakarpattia oblast

Ivan Sinetar, Deputy of the Regional Council, met with Myroslav Kastran, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Slovakia. Further cooperation between the neighbouring countries was discussed.

The first conscripts were demobilised in Zakarpattia. 25 conscripts from Chop Border Detachment were released to the reserve of the Armed Forces. 11 of them, on their own initiative, took part in hostilities in Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The fiftieth jubilee car went to the front as part of the 50 Francomobiles for Victory initiative. It was founded at the end of last year by Drohobych RMA together with the Kolo CF. Upon completion of this initiative, the administration together with the foundation’s team created a new campaign to support Frankodrones for Victory. So far, they have already sent 11 quadcopters. In the course of the initiative, a total of 100 drones are planned to be purchased for the defence of Ukraine.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that Jan Grolich, Hetman of the South Moravian Region, arrived for the first time on a working visit to Lviv oblast.

In Dobromyl community, on the facade of the local library in the village of Drozdovichi, Sambir region, a memorial plaque was unveiled to the fallen defender Roman Hrytsyk (call sign Nelson). During the full-scale war, he defended the Motherland as part of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis in the position of deputy commander of a tank battalion. The serviceman was killed on 29 September 2023 in Donetsk oblast.

In Dobromyl community, on the facade of Boryslav school No. 7, a memorial sign to graduate Oleksii Demian was opened and consecrated. He was a senior lieutenant in the 15th Mobile Border Detachment. The soldier was killed on 3 November, 2023, near the village of Serhiivka, Luhansk oblast.

Rivne oblast

Buhrynsk community opened a Safety Classroom, a multimedia shooting range and a rehabilitation room in one day thanks to the funds from the community budget and local businesses.

Ternopil oblast

In March of this year, Ternopil City Council purchased for the military 24 quadcopters, 2 weather stations, 21 multi-channel charging units, 8 interactive tables, 2 anti-aircraft searchlights, 7 laptops, 8 portable charging stations, an excavator, rechargeable batteries, saws, gas cutters, chargers devices, a grinder, an electric generator, etc. In addition, defenders are paid a one-time financial aid for equipment, treatment and rehabilitation, reimbursement of the amount of the first payment for housing within the YeOselia program, etc.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A 150kW generator was delivered to one of the health care institutions of Shepetiv region, which, if necessary, will power the required building of the medical institution, from the LandsAid CF and the International Regional Development Agency Globi NGO.

Chernivtsi oblast

Iryna Mykychak, Director of coordination of central and executive authorities of the Coordination Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, visited Chernivtsi oblast on a working visit. She visited the recently opened Mental Health Center and the premises of Chernivtsi Regional Psychiatric Hospital. A meeting of the Coordinating Council on Mental Health issues at Chernivtsi RMA was also held under her chairmanship.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Evika Silinia, Prime Minister of Latvia, stated that the country is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine, namely, €1m for drones and €10m for shells.

Latvia will send 12 more cars confiscated from the country’s residents for drunk driving to Ukraine. Last year, Latvia sent to Ukraine more than 270 cars confiscated from drunk drivers, for a total amount of about €1m.

Over €240bn of russian private and state assets have been frozen in European countries. Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, noted that the EU continues to work to ensure that the frozen russian assets are sent to compensate Ukraine for damages caused by russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Luiz Montenegro, newly appointed Prime Minister of Portugal. The progress of the implementation of previous defence agreements between the countries was discussed and teams were instructed to start work on the preparation of a bilateral security agreement within the framework of the G7 declaration.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with representatives of the Commission on the National Defense Strategy of the US, headed by its Head, Jane Harman. They discussed the situation at the front, as well as massive air attacks by the russian federation on the energy and civil infrastructure of Ukraine with the use of missiles, Shahed and anti-aircraft missiles.

Vitalii Koval, Head of the State Property Fund, met with representatives of the NEQSOL HOLDING international group of companies. They discussed the issue of attracting investments in the mining industry of Ukraine.

During his speech on St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis honoured the memory of 23-year-old Ukrainian soldier Oleksandr, who was killed defending Avdiivka. The pontiff held in his hands a copy of the New Testament and a set of rosaries of a fallen soldier. He called on those present to be silent, to remember Oleksandr and other Ukrainian defenders who gave their lives in the war.

The Ministry of the Interior of Poland, reported that from September, Ukrainian refugee children will be obliged to go to school. The corresponding law is already at the final stage. After intergovernmental consultations with Ukrainian colleagues, it became known that 50-60,000 Ukrainian children in Poland are not covered by the Polish education system. It is planned that special lessons of the Ukrainian language will be introduced for Ukrainian children in Polish schools. For this, teachers from Ukraine will be employed, and a simplified procedure for nostrification of diplomas will be offered for them.
