Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that the other day, the invaders shelled Hrekivka. There were hits to the residential sector, one of the buildings is no longer suitable for living. The local population is slowly agreeing to evacuate as long as their homes and livestock are safe and they do not want to leave. There are cities under occupation where life has not improved even for a week in a year, even on the eve of the so-called “first elections”. For instance, in Lysychansk, where the head of the occupation administration has already been replaced, there are tonnes of garbage around the neighbourhoods, which has not been removed from the majority of areas since the occupation. This worsens the already poor sanitary and epidemiological situation that has developed due to the lack of centralised water supply. The invaders even took containers from some neighbourhoods, saying that there were few people left there and that the surviving container would be needed elsewhere.

In Nova Astrakhan of Sievierodonetsk community, the occupation administration has set up a headquarters for the so-called “first elections”, where they are preparing the residents for the vote to be held on 10 September. Residents of the settlement are brought there and instructed which of the candidates to choose.

Roman Vlasenko, Head of Sievierodonetsk Regional Military Administration, said that early voting in the so-called ‘luhansk people’s republic’ resembles a farce, as people vote at gunpoint, and there is no secrecy of voting, which is one of the principles of democratic elections. In the settlements occupied last year, there are not many residents on the lists of candidates for deputies, all the others are collaborators from the territories occupied nine years ago or russians. The population is not sure that they will be able to spend the winter at home as the invaders have not restored the centralised heating system in the cities for more than a year of occupation. The number of locals is decreasing. When men try to leave the occupied Luhansk oblast, russians carefully check them.
