It has been the 589th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs, says that the russian military shelled a civilian facility in the village of Hroza, Kupiansk region, Kharkiv oblast, resulting in 51 casualties. Among them is a 6-year-old boy. A memorial dinner was held in the village, which is why so many people gathered there.

Dmytro Lubinets, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, reports that a recent UN report on human rights in Ukraine, which refers to a series of explosions on the night of 29 July 2022 in a colony near Olenivka, notes that the damage recorded is not typical of damage caused by HIMARS ammunition. “The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights also added what I have been saying at all meetings regarding the terrorist attack in Olenivka – the state that holds prisoners of war is responsible for the safety of prisoners of war and, in the event of their death or injury, is obliged to conduct an immediate official investigation that establishes individual criminal liability for the death or injury of prisoners of war,” Lubinets said. However, OHCHR has not received information that the russian federation has fulfilled these obligations to investigate and prosecute.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On October 5, there were 30 combat clashes. The russian army launched a total of 3 missiles and 49 air strikes, 26 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. The russian federation attacked Ukraine with 29 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs from the southeast. Air defence destroyed 24 enemy Shaheds. The russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains challenging.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes and no signs of forming an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues to shell Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched an airstrike near Hrabovske, Sumy Oblast. The enemy fired from artillery and mortars at more than 20 settlements, including Karpovychi, Chernihiv oblast; Stara Huta, Havrylova Sloboda, Atynske, Stepok, Hrabovske, Sumy Oblast; Baranivka, Hatyshche, Kharkiv Oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched airstrikes near Ivanivka and Kyslivka, Kharkiv Oblast. Over 15 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Berestove, Kharkiv Oblast came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 enemy attacks in the area east of Makiyivka, Luhansk oblast. The settlements of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast, and Spirne, Donetsk Oblast suffered enemy air strikes. The invaders fired from artillery and mortars at over 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast and Torske, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Donetsk Oblast. 

Towards Bakhmut, Ukrainian forces were successful east of Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast. The enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost ground in the vicinity of Diliyivka, Donetsk Oblast. The invaders launched air strikes near Klishchiyivka and Ivanopillya, Donetsk Oblast. Over 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Predtechyne, Dyliivka and Toretsk, Donetsk Oblast.

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled all enemy attacks near Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast. The enemy launched an air strike near Avdiivka. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at over 10 settlements, including Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Sieverne, Pervomaiske, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 10 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Mariinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast. The enemy launched air strikes near Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka and Mariinka, Donetsk oblast. About 10 settlements, including Nevelske, Oleksandropil, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast were under the occupiers’ mortar and artillery fire.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy attack in the vicinity of the settlement of Zolota Nyva and Vodiane, Donetsk oblast. The russian occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinity of Urozhaine and Staromaiorske, Donetsk oblast. Over 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhaine, Staromaiorske, Rivnopil, Donetsk oblast, came under the artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled enemy attacks near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia oblast. The invaders launched airstrikes near Novodarivka and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Over 20 settlements, including Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Novodarivka, Pyatykhatky, Zaporizhzhia oblast came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Beryslav, Kozatske, Odradokamianka, Mykolaivka, Kherson oblast. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Havrylivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Olhivka, Poniativka, Kherson, Shyroka Balka, Kherson Oblast and Ochakiv in Mykolaiv Oblast.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation towards Melitopol and offensive operations towards Bakhmut, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.

The Ukrainian Air Forces launched 12 air strikes on the buildup of troops, weapons and military equipment of the invaders and 3 – at enemy anti-aircraft missile systems. 

Rocket troops hit a communications hub, an anti-aircraft missile system, a heavy flamethrower system, 3 artillery pieces and an enemy electronic warfare station.

Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs, reported that as of 18:00, 51 people were killed in the shelling of a cafe shop in the village of Hroza, Kupiansk area, Kharkiv Oblast. Among the killed is a six-year-old child.

Mykola Kuleba, founder and head of Save Ukraine, says that 19 more Ukrainian children have been brought out of the temporarily occupied territories. This makes 196 children who have been brought back home.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 26,000 people are reported missing in Ukraine. 11,000 civilians are considered missing under special circumstances, and 15,000 military servicemen.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed that russian army attacked Zybyne village in the north of Kharkiv oblast to distract Ukrainian defenders. Referring to him, it is currently more dynamic towards Lyman-Kupiansk than towards Bakhmut.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi, President of Ukraine, reported that russians shelled a cafe and a shop in Hroza village, Kupiansk region, where there were many civilians around 1:15 pm.  According to preliminary information, russians used an Iskander missile. 

Yevhen Vasylenko, Spokesman of Kharkiv State Emergency Service, informed that as of 6 pm, 51 people were reported killed. Seven people were injured. All of them were hospitalised in medical institutions of the region. Among the injured are 6 women, most of whom are over 50 years old, and a 55-year-old man, who are on the operating table. One of the injured died in hospital. All the victims are residents of Hroza village, all civilians. Rescuers have completed the rubble removal. 29 victims were identified.

Olena Shapoval, Spokeswoman of the RMA head, said that the missile strike on Hroza village was the largest in terms of the number of casualties on the territory of Kharkiv oblast since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia.

A mobile outpatient clinic was opened in Prudianka of Derhachi community, which was provided to the village by philanthropists. This is the only social facility that has been launched here during the year since the community was liberated. The local stationary outpatient clinic was destroyed by shelling in 2022.

The enemy launched a missile attack, preliminary, S-300, on Pechenihy, Chuhuiv region, hitting the territory of the summerhouse area last night, at around 12:15 pm.  Two buildings were damaged and fires broke out.

The enemy shelled Horokhovatka village, Izium region, around 3 am. A forest fire started in an area of 500 square metres.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, stated that settlements of Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk and Izium regions were under enemy shelling. As a result of shelling in Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, a building was damaged and a fire started. In Kozacha Lopan, Kharkiv region, artillery shelling damaged two private buildings, outbuildings and a private car. Due to the shelling of the outskirts of Hlyboke village, Kharkiv region, grass in a field was burning.

Yesterday there were no casualties reported.

Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 7.1 hectares of territory and defused 51 explosive ordnance yesterday.

Yesterday, russian troops attempted to launch an offensive north of Zybyne, Chuhuiv region. They retreated with losses under attacks from our defenders.

Donetsk oblast

Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that yesterday Ukrainian defence forces hit two stations there – the Zoopark radar station and the Borysohliebsk radio electronic station, which should weaken the ability of russian military to hit the positions of the Ukrainian army. In total, the invaders have about 1,085 tanks, almost 2K armoured combat vehicles, more than 700 artillery systems and 500 multiple rocket launchers concentrated there.

Mariupol City Council said that russian invaders allocated 119 areas for housing construction. Residents of the occupied city are offered to buy apartments with a mortgage. Also russian shelling destroyed 934 apartment buildings in the city, leaving 52K families homeless.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, informed that russian troops shelled Avdiivka and the outskirts of the city 21 times, injuring a woman born in 1982. She was taken to a hospital in Myrnohrad.

The White Angel crew continues to evacuate people from the frontline Krasnohorivka. About a thousand people still live in the town under daily shelling. Recently, the police crew evacuated two killed and three injured people. The evacuation was under russian attacks.

Illia Yevlash added that yesterday Ukrainian troops advanced several hundred metres towards Bakhmut. Also the russian army attacked 578 times in this area over the day.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, yesterday russians launched two missile attacks on Shakhove community, hitting the outskirts of Zolotyi Kolodiaz and Kucherevyi Yar, without causing any casualties. Towards Donetsk, one person was killed in Krasnohorivka and one more injured in Avdiivka.

Towards Horlivka, Toretsk community was under numerous attacks: 1 person was injured in Toretsk and 17 buildings damaged. Also 1 person was injured in Pivnichne and 1 building damaged in Nelipivka. 9 buildings in Chasiv Yar and 1 building in Ivanopillia of Konstiantynivka community were damaged. In Druzhkivka community, 4 buildings were damaged in Raiske and 1 in Novohryhorivka. 

Towards Lysychansk, 2 buildings were damaged in Siversk, and Lyman community suffered 23 attacks.

Ihor Moroz, Acting Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday russians killed 1 civilian in Krasnohorivka. 3 more were injured in the region.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, yesterday police helped four residents of Makiivka, 84-year-old and 59-year-old women, and 74-year-old man and woman, to leave from under shelling to Kramatorsk. Some of them will go to their relatives, while Krasnorichensk Military Administration will help the others.

For several days now, russians have been looking for a weak spot in our defences near Makiivka but the Ukrainian military repels all enemy attacks. For instance, eleven attacks were repelled the day before yesterday and seven more yesterday. Both russian personnel and their tanks are being destroyed so it is extremely dangerous to stay in the village. The other day, three buildings and the owners’ agricultural machinery were destroyed. There were no casualties.

Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka suffer from daily russian artillery and mortar attacks. The enemy does not care about civilians and their homes. Nothing can stop them. Police and local military administration officials are constantly asking people to leave. Yesterday 500 loaves of bread were delivered and distributed to those who remained in the de-occupied settlements. Also Kuzemivka, Novoselivske and Bilohorivka were under air strikes during the day.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

In the village of Makariv, an emergency power company crew hit an anti-tank mine. The SES of Ukraine reported that one citizen was taken to hospital in serious condition, while two others refused hospitalization. A GAZ 53 and a Volkswagen were damaged.

Police in Kyiv oblast document the atrocities committed by russian soldiers – more than 11 K war crimes have been documented since the start of the full-scale invasion. Law enforcement officers asked residents of Hostomel community, who suffered or witnessed crimes during the occupation, to report them officially. To do this, they urge them to contact the police investigation department or leave a statement in the special telegram channel.

The Security Service of Ukraine has identified another russian serviceman involved in the torture and murder of civilians during the occupation of Kyiv oblast. The perpetrator, Lieutenant Nursultan Mussagaleyev, commander of a reconnaissance platoon of the 104th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Air Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces, participated in “cleansing operations” in Kyiv oblast and ordered his subordinates to kidnap a 29-year-old local resident, who was later shot dead on his orders.

Kyiv oblast will receive another $1 million worth of windows to replace those in damaged facilities. This additional assistance was provided by the founder of the non-profit organization GEM, Michael Capponi. According to the regional government, windows have already been replaced at 430 facilities in the affected communities, with nearly 7 K windows installed for a total of $1,360,000.

Mayor Vitali Klychko says that Kyiv has taken necessary technical and organisational measures and is ready for the start of the heating season. About 100 boiler houses are equipped for quick switchover to generators. The city has also purchased 23 mobile boiler houses that can provide heating to medical facilities, schools, kindergartens, and heating centers.

Volunteers from the Kyiv-based Dobrobat construction battalion are rebuilding an apartment building in Irpin. The two-storey building, home to four families, was hit by a russian projectile in the spring of 2022. Twenty volunteers worked on the site to restore the roof.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko presented state awards and honours to Kyiv residents who defended Ukraine. The ceremony took place at the beginning of Kyiv City Council session. The mayor also congratulated the soldiers of the 130th Battalion of the Territorial Defense of Kyiv on receiving the battle flag.

Zhytomyr oblast

There are 166 Invincibility Centers in the oblast at the facilities of responsible businesses – in shops, pharmacies, bank banks and gas stations. Zhytomyr Regional State Administration informed that they are all marked on the online map, which is constantly updated.

There are 31 multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams working at medical institutions in Zhytomyr oblast. Veterans’ hubs or places for providing social and administrative services on a one-stop shop basis have already been established in 95% of the region’s communities.

Zhytomyr RMA reported  that since February 2022, the number of well-equipped shelters in educational institutions of the oblast has increased more than 3 times thanks to the joint efforts of the state, regional authorities, communities, philanthropists and international foundations. Currently, only 5% of schools in the region do not have shelters. Repairs and arrangement of shelters continue in 38 educational institutions.

Oleksandr Shvetsov, a veteran of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine from Zhytomyr, and four of his comrades from Chernihiv, Chernihiv oblast, Kyiv, and Cherkasy raised UAH 10 million during a hike in the Carpathians. The money will be transferred to military units at the front line.

In Zhytomyr, the Gnatyuk Art Center opened a memorial exhibition of photographs “The Beauty of the Buzky Gard” created by fallen soldier Denys Kryvyi. The man photographed the fauna and flora of the Mykolaiv oblast, with his work published in National Geographic.

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, at night and in the morning, the russians opened fire 5 times at the border. In total, there were 16 mortar bombs and AGS rounds fired. Putivl, Esman, Shalyhyne, and Seredyno-Buda communities were shelled.

Over the past 24 hours, the russians opened fire 5 times at the border areas. In total, 13 attacks were recorded: Krasnopillia community – an explosive ordnance dropped by UAV (3 explosions) and mortar shelling (3 explosions); Khotin community – unguided air-to-surface rockets launched from a helicopter (3 explosions); Seredyno-Buda community – 4 mortar attacks.

Sumy Regional Recruitment Centre forms a joint database of enlisted persons with the Ministry of Finance and the Border Guard Base. By October 1st, the Centre entered information about all enlisted persons, reservists and conscripts into a single database. It is expected that in the future it will be possible to issue or receive certificates, conclusions of the military medical panel and other information in electronic form.

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that from October 4 to 5, a new Cell Broadcast alert system will be tested in Sumy oblast. Public awareness of the threats will be carried out with the help of mobile operators.

Chernihiv oblast

Over the past 24 hours, the russians opened fire twice on the border area of Chernihiv oblast from their territory. According to the SBGSU, 7 mortar attacks were recorded in the territory of Snovsk community in the direction of Kliusy settlement, and 1 mortar attack in Semenivka community in the direction of Karpovychi settlement.

According to Oleksandr Artiushenko, Head of Turiia region, on October 3rd, the russians shelled the border village of Yelino. As a result of the shelling, a house and four outbuildings burned down, another house was damaged by shrapnel and debris, and power lines destroyed. Despite the shelling, five people are still living in Yelino village.

Viacheslav Chaus, head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that in 2023, about 1,700 people left the border area of Chernihiv oblast due to russian shelling. Over the past week, 16 people left the dangerous oblast. More than 14 K people are staying in the border area.

According to the State Agency for the Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, by the end of the year, another bridge will be built near Nizhyn in Chernihiv oblast. This will provide transport links between the central regions of the oblast and communities, as well as with Kyiv and Sumy oblasts. The bridge was destroyed during the hostilities in February-March 2022, when enemy troops entered Nizhyn region and tried to continue their advance on Kyiv.

Almost a year and a half later, researchers from the Human Rights Education House in Chernihiv identified the russian units that occupied Velyka Doroha village in Chernihiv oblast in 2022. The names of the two brigades – the 30th and the 385th – and the surnames of the russian soldiers were identified thanks to the findings of a notebook and a shoebox. The researchers passed the information and their findings to law enforcers

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Serhii Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that russians shelled Nikopol in the morning. A 64-year-old woman was injured in the artillery shelling.  10 buildings were damaged. One outbuilding was destroyed and 4 more damaged. Power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged.

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipro Oblast Council, stated that the enemy attacked Nikopol region 4 times in one day. They shelled Nikopol with artillery. A 64-year-old resident was injured and three outbuildings destroyed. 16 private buildings, 6 outbuildings, 2 gas pipelines and 4 power lines were damaged. Vinnytsia oblast

​​Vinnytsia City Council said that during the first two days of work in Vinnytsia, veterans’ assistants provided more than 100 services. They not only work locally but also visit medical facilities and a prosthetic factory to make more military personnel aware of this service and the help they can receive.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian aggressor attacked the region with drones. Air defence systems shot down 9 drones. However, there was also a hit to an infrastructure facility.

Poltava oblast

Dmytro Lunin, Head of Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that the number of fire teams to protect the power grid is being increased. The physical protection of the power system requires enhanced preparation for possible attacks. In addition to anti-shahed drones nets at substations, fire protection is being improved.

Cherkasy oblast

Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, 26 people were killed in Cherkasy oblast. The region was attacked more than 30 times. During this time, 1008 alarm raids occurred. The total duration of these alarms is more than 1000 hours.

 

A network of modern rehabilitation facilities will be created in Cherkasy oblast to provide rehabilitation services and help veterans return to life in society.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, there were 189 attacks in 23 settlements yesterday. 163 artillery attacks targeted frontline towns and villages, including Zaliznychne, Charivne, Chervone, Malynivka, Preobrazhenka, Maly Shcherbaky, Piatikhatky, Plavni and Kamianske. A 47-year-old resident of Kamianske and a 64-year-old resident of Orikhiv were wounded by artillery shells and promptly taken to hospitals.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that towards Zaporizhzhia, the Defence Forces successfully repelled several russian attacks near Novodarivka, Verbove and Robotyno.

The State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia oblast reports that a 250 kg unexploded guided aerial bomb was discovered during harvesting in Zaporizhzhia oblast. It was removed for further destruction. 

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said that on the night of  October 5, air defence forces and means destroyed 10 russian Shahed-136/131 drones over Mykolaiv oblast. 

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on October 5, at 06:59, the russian military fired artillery near a village of Kutsurub community. No casualties are reported. 

Kyiv architects will join the post-war reconstruction of Mykolaiv. Olena Oliynyk and Arkadii Peker arrived in the city at the invitation of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the city council to renovate recreation areas and the city’s housing stock.

Odesa oblast

The Southern Ukrainian Defence Forces report that on October 4, the russian army carried out four air strikes in southern Ukraine, launching 22 guided missiles. One of them was directed towards the town of Vilkove in Odesa oblast. Also that night, air defences shot down five Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones in the skies over Odesa oblast. 

The press service of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 7:30 a.m. on  October 4, 5 enemy ships were spotted in the Black Sea, all on alert. None of them carry Kalibr cruise missiles. It is worth paying attention to the situation in the Azov and Mediterranean Seas. Currently, there is one enemy missile carrier in the Azov Sea. At the same time, there are three ships in the Mediterranean, one of which is a missile carrier, but no missiles have been detected on board. 

The volunteer organisation UA Brokers Without Borders has delivered humanitarian aid to the Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine Centre in Odesa oblast. The volunteers provided doctors with Philips Lumify ultrasound sensors.  The equipment will enable fast and high-quality assistance in critical situations, performing the FAST protocol at the pre-hospital stage and saving the lives of our patients.

Residents of Odesa collected 1,500 books for Kherson oblast worth more than UAH 230 K. Almost 4 K books have already been delivered to Kherson libraries to replenish the library collections as part of the Ukrainian Book for Ukrainian Kherson campaign. They were provided by publishers, the REN Club and colleagues from other oblasts.

 Kherson oblast

An airstrike on a hospital in Beryslav was conducted  by the russian army. The fourth floor of the hospital was completely destroyed, and another floor – partially. Ambulances were damaged and two medical workers injured.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian army carried out 5 airstrikes near Beryslav in Kherson oblast. Data on casualties and damage are being updated. 

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the russian army attacked the centre of Kherson with artillery at around 09:30. The two people who killed were outside during the shelling. At around 09:45, the russian military shelled Bilozirka, Kherson oblast, at least four times. The shells damaged private houses.

At around 7:30, the russian army shelled Zolota Balka in Kherson oblast. They also hit Kizomys. There is destruction and damage to houses. There were no casualties.

Kherson Regional Military Administration said that on October 4, the russian army carried out 78 attacks, firing 445 shells from mortars, artillery, Grads, tanks, aircraft, UAVs, and rockets. Employees of the Kherson Art Museum have identified two more paintings that were stolen by the russian military in the propaganda video. These are the works by Vladlen Vahanov “Sedniv” and Pavlo Horobets “Winter Sun”.

Volyn oblast

In the RMA, the widow of the soldier Vitalii Shevchuk was awarded with the 3th degree For Courage Order. The serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine was killed near Mariupol in April last year.

Volyn Border Guard received a powerful and multifunctional quadrocopter DJI Matrice 30T worth about UAH 350K and 3 portable water purification stations of TM Formula Vody thanks to the Modern Ukraine foundation.

The group of aerial scouts Birds of Magiar and the 37th separate brigade of marines received SCANIA and VOLVO trucks, worth about $79K thanks to the Suchasna Ukraina and Dobrodiy CF.

Zakarpattia oblast

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, awarded the title of Heroes of Ukraine to four fighters of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of Zakarpattia oblast, three of them – posthumously. The Golden Star Order was awarded to Major Vadym Odud (posthumously), Captain Vitalii Nevinsky (posthumously), Junior Sergeant Dmytro Рranchar (posthumously) and Junior Sergeant Bohdan Maрalias.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ruslan Marcinkiv, Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, reports that on the facade of Lyceum #3, plaques were opened to two fallen defenders. Pavlo Brikin and Viacheslav Tushnoi studied at this lyceum.

Lviv oblast

Drohobych received the 3rd tranche of humanitarian aid from the German Greifswald. In particular, they sent tablets and a children’s playground, which was installed in Viacheslav Chornovol Lyceum #3, multimedia boards to Yevhen Konovalts Gymnasium #10, Bohdan Lepky Drohobych Scientific Lyceum, and Lishnyansk National Technical University of the I-III centuries.

Senior soldier Mykola Ninadovskyi with the call sign Banderchik received the 3th degree For Courage Order. He was killed on June 20, 2023 near the village of Serebrianka, Bakhmut region.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Oksana Zholnovich, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, and Vasyl Lutsyk, Head of the National Social Service. They discussed the issue of creating Vitality Centers in the oblast, a single space that unites all social services for veterans and other citizens.

The RMA held a meeting with Ellen Kramer, Head of Lviv office of the UN WFP. They discussed continuation of food aid to geriatric and palliative institutions, places where IDPs are fed. Initiation of the school feeding program and insulation of social institutions were also considered.

This year, the UN World Food Program paid out almost $1 mln to IDPs and vulnerable groups in Rivne oblast. It also provided 500 tonnes of food. Most food is provided to hospitals, boarding schools, and IDPs.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil executive committee decided to additionally allocate UAH 5 mln to the needs of military formations of Ternopil garrison and the military draft of Ternopil city territorial community. Equipment, tools, machinery and other necessary things will be purchased.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

RMA representatives visited shelters in schools that were renovated as part of the Freedom Space project. The funds allocated for the shelter repair were provided by foreign partners under the grant program. A total of UAH 120 mln was allocated for 30 shelters, which included two facilities in Khmelnytskyi oblast. The average cost of one such shelter is about UAH 3 mln.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Roman Onufriychuk, senior presbyter of Ukrainian Church of the Evangelical Christian Faith in Chernivtsi Oblast. They discussed the role of religious organizations in the fight against the external enemy.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian Church of the Evangelical Faith in Chernivtsi oblast has provided 18 cars, 103 bulletproof vests, clothes and shoes, food, necessary items to cover the needs of the Armed Forces. It also provided shelter to over 10 K residents who were forced to leave their homes. Such work continues.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The US Central Command confirmed the transfer of about 1,1 mln rounds of 7,62 mm calibre weapons confiscated in Iran to Ukraine. 

86 shipments of humanitarian aid with a total weight of 1 173 tonnes, including 284 power transformers, arrived in Ukraine from Germany. In addition, Germany made a strong contribution to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, which is used to purchase equipment for the needs of Ukrainian energy companies.

Germany will provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems to protect grain routes. Berlin will send one additional IRIS-T air defense system and more than a dozen Gepard air defense systems. The weapons should arrive in Ukraine by the end of this year.

Greece announced its readiness to provide its ports for the export of Ukrainian grain. It is proposed to transport the products by rail through Romania and Bulgaria to Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis.

The Norwegian government will increase the 2024 defense budget with an emphasis on aid to Ukraine. The proposed budget will amount to about $10,2 billion and will be aimed at improving the capabilities of the defense forces, helping Ukraine and strengthening the country’s defense capabilities. The country plans to meet NATO’s defense spending target of 2% of GDP by 2026.

Oleksandr Kamyshyn, Minister of Strategic Industries, announced that the US and Ukraine will jointly produce air defense systems on Ukrainian territory. The first results of cooperation will be by the end of 2023.

Ingrid Simonite, Prime Minister of Lithuania, said that they plan to include support for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 340 mln in the expenditure part of the country’s budget for 2024.

Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, stated that the US and the EU are looking for legal options that would allow Ukraine to transfer $300 billion of frozen russian assets.

The UN recognized as real the video of the shooting of an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner by the russians after the words “Glory to Ukraine” and the video where the russians cut off the head of a Ukrainian prisoner with a knife. In total, the organization reported at least 6 more cases of extrajudicial executions of Ukrainian military personnel.

They discussed implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the export of Ukrainian grain using alternative routes.

Another coordination meeting was held with partners of Ukraine on the coalition of modern fighter jets. They discussed the schedule of implementation of agreements within the coalition, in particular preparation of relevant infrastructure, the terms of pilot and staff training and the delivery of aircraft to Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, arrived in Spain for the summit of the European Political Community. According to the President, air defense enhancement will be discussed. Special attention will also be paid to the Black Sea region and food security.

Serhii Sozanovskyi, FILM.UA Group co-founder, said that Netflix invested several million dollars in Ukrainian content development.
