It has been the 500th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

Breaking news

Dmytro Lubinets, Verlhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, reported that Ukraine managed to return the bodies of Ukrainian defenders who were killed during the terrorist attack in Olenivka. Most of them have been identified and are currently undergoing DNA analysis. He noted that people who had the official status of prisoners of war and were verified by the International Committee of the Red Cross died in Olenivka. In addition, Lubinets emphasized that the UN fact-finding mission about the terrorist attack in Olenivka did not agree to read Ukrainian materials about the explosion. The work of the mission lasted for 5 months, but during this time its representatives never once met with the Ukrainian Ombudsman, despite the fact that the latter repeatedly initiated such a meeting.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian occupiers launched another air and missile attack on the territory of Ukraine, using anti-aircraft guided missiles from air defense systems S-300 and Iranian strike UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense destroyed 5 strike UAVs of the Shahed-type. Some of the UAVs hit industrial and infrastructure facilities in Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad oblasts.

Also, the enemy carried out 34 airstrikes, and launched 42 MLRS attacks. In particular, 8 civilians were killed and 13 wounded as a result of shelling by the russian military at Lyman.

The threat of missile and air strikes remains high across Ukraine.

The enemy is concentrating its main efforts on Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka. There were more than 25 combat clashes during the day.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there have been no no significant changes detected. There are no signs of offensive groupings forming. The Armed Forces of belarus perform tasks on the Ukrainian border.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian forces maintain an enhanced military presence. There was an airstrike near Vovkivka, Sumy oblast. More than 25 settlements were shelled, namely Karpovychi, Chernihiv oblast; Znob-Novhorodske, Bilopillia, Sumy oblast and Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Varvarivka, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, there was an airstrike at Novoiehorivka, Luhansk oblast. The russian troops tried to advance in Berestove, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk oblast. Ukrainian soldiers repelled all enemy attacks. Fiholivka, Kupiansk, Kislivka and Kamianka, Kharkiv oblast were shelled with artillery and mortars.

Towards Lyman, russians attacked during the day and tried to knock out Ukrainian troops from their positions at Vesele area, Donetsk Oblast, albeit without success. There were airstrikes near Nevske, Luhansk oblast, and Spirne, Donetsk oblast. More than 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, and Verkhniokamianske and Vesele, Donetsk oblast, were shelled by artillery.

Towards Bakhmut, the russian troops carried out airstrikes near Druzhkivka and Bila Hora. More than 10 settlements, including Bohdanivka, Khromove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Donetsk oblast, were shelled by artillery.

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy forces carried out unsuccessful offensives near Novokalynove, Stepove, Pervomaiske and Nevelske. There was an airstrike at Avdiyivka. More than 15 settlements, including Keramik, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Semenivka in Donetsk oblast were shelled.

Towards Marinka, under enemy artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks. There were enemy airstrikes near Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast.  Heorgiivka, Elizavetivka, Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Marinka, and Katerynivka were shelled.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy forces carried out unsuccessful offensives at Blahodatne, Donetsk oblast. There was also an airstrike there. More than 10 settlements were shelled, namely Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva and Shakhtarske, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, russian forces are on the defensive, and concentrate their main efforts on preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops. There was an airstrike at Kozatske, Kherson oblast. More than 20 settlements were shelled, including Novodarivka, Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole (Zaporizhzhia oblast); Havrylivka, Antonivka, Zolota Balka (Kherson oblast); Kherson, Ivanivka and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast). The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue offensive operations in Melitopol and Berdiansk, consolidating positions and conducting counter-artillery operations.

Ukrainian Air Force hit 7 buildups of enemy manpower.

Ukrainian rocket and artillery units hit 11 artillery units at firing positions, an ammunition depot, 3 anti-air defense systems and 2 radio electronic warfare stations.

Andriy Kostin, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, says that there have been 94 K russian war crimes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The number of civilians killed has reached 10.5 K. He also noted that there are 353 suspects, 219 accused, and 53 criminals have already been sentenced in Ukrainian courts. 

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced that 5 commanders from Azovstal, who had been held in Turkey after being captured by russia, returned home.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

On July 7, the occupiers carried out air, mortar, and artillery strikes in Kupiansk, Kharkiv, Izium, Chuhuiv, and Bohodukhiv regions.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, the enemy fired seven mortar shells from the territory of the russian federation at Tymofiivka village in Bohodukhiv district at 13.40. A private house and outbuildings were damaged.

The occupiers also shelled the village of Ivashky with artillery. There were about 10 attacks on the territory of civilian agricultural enterprises. There were no casualties.

Around 17:00, as a result of hostile shelling, a coniferous forest (3 ha) near the village of Kucherivka, Kupiansk region, caught fire. At 19:50 the fire was extinguished.

At 00:14, the occupiers launched artillery strikes on the town of Vovchansk. A 9-storey residential building was damaged. A 62 year old man was injured. He sustained shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized.

At 2 am, there was another shelling of Vovchansk. There were no casualties. A private house was damaged. At 5 am another shelling damaged an apartment building. There were no casualties.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine inspected 14.8 hectares of Kharkiv oblast, where they found and defused 80 ordnance.

According to Kharkiv regional police, an excavator was blown up on an unknown explosive device near the village of Pashkove in Barvinkove community on 6 July. The 51-year-old driver was hospitalized. Another two tractors also were blown up by landmines in the oblast on 6 July.

Donetsk oblast

Donetsk Military Administration reported that on 7 July, russian forces wounded 5 residents in Avdiivka, Katerynivka, Dalne, and Novomykhailivka.

On 7 July, russian troops fired 19 times at residential areas in Donetsk oblast. 12 settlements were attacked. The russian army used missiles, drones, Tornado-S, Grad, and artillery.

Towards Volnovakha, the russian forces shelled Vuhledar with artillery 16 times, without any casualties.

Towards Donetsk, Veselyi Hai and Ostrovske in Kurakhove community were shelled, and there were sporadic attacks on Avdiivka.

Towards Horlivka, 2 houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community, and another house was damaged in Toretsk. In Kostiantynivska community, the outskirts of Ivanopillia were shelled.

Towards Lysychansk, 2 houses were damaged in Torske and Yampil of Lyman community.

On the evening of July 7, the roof of a boiler and turbine shop collapsed at the Kurakhove thermal power plant. One person was killed and three workers injured. Two more people may be under the rubble.  According to DTEK, the collapse could have been caused by constant shelling of the plant by the russian military.

Donetsk RMA reported that at around 10 am, russian forces struck Lyman with multiple rocket launchers, hitting the private sector. A house and a shop were damaged. Police are operating at the scene. Paramedics are providing medical assistance. The Head of the city military administration said that an outdoor market was hit. There were only local civilians and no military personnel there. According to him, eight people were reported killed. The regional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the death of five women and two men. The data on the victims are being clarified. 

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk RMA, near Svatove, the russians were advancing towards Stelmakhivka and Novoselivske, but each attack was repelled by Ukrainian defenders. The russian forces are shelling Bilohorivka and Nevske on a daily basis. They fired from multiple rocket launchers and cannon artillery. Bilohorivka also withstood an airstrike. Russians are increasingly targeting logistics to make it harder for humanitarian supplies to reach the liberated villages and leave people without food.

According to reports from Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, residents of the occupied territories have been forced to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship during mandatory passport procedures. Besides, on July 6, the russian side enacted a law that allows, so to speak, a check on ‘illegal acts of Luhansk oblast residents regarding the exercise of the rights of Ukrainian citizens’. If an official of the Interior Service of the russian federation finds a violation, he or she sends the information, with supporting documents and materials, to the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The relevant request is then sent to the interior agency that received the application for refusal to retain Ukrainian citizenship. The decision to conduct the inspection is taken within three days from the date of receipt of the materials. The procedure may take up to two months.

Luhansk gas workers are checking the owners of private houses. If people have gas equipment not made in russia, they will have to pay an additional fee. The majority of residents will suffer financially.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Referring to Andrii Nebytov, Head of the National Police of Kyiv oblast, the military and police are taking all measures to prevent the invaders from blowing up the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant, and all critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine are under round-the-clock protection. According to him, after the terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the police stepped up patrols near the plant. In addition, relevant government agencies and local governments have worked out  actions in case of a blow-up of the Kyiv dam.

The state of readiness of the Consolidated Rescue Unit of Kyiv oblast to perform emergency response tasks was checked in Bila Tserkva. According to the SES, the inspection involved the deployment of all involved services, basic and special vehicles, equipment, and facilities, as well as the gathering of personnel.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kiev regional administrationIn, says that restoration work is underway as part of a pilot project in the oblast. In Borodianka, electricity, heating, and water have been restored. Renovation work has begun on four apartment buildings under the United24 program; and a school and kindergarten are being restored with funds from international partners. In Moshchun, an outpatient clinic has been restored with funds from international partners, a school and kindergarten are being built, and a road to the future monument is planned.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko informs that the russian attack destroyed some 800 buildings in the capital, including more than 420 homes. According to Mayor Klitschko, the city of Kiev has been and continues to be a target of the russian aggressors who have caused such destruction since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Kiev is appealing to the government to approve the requirement for modular concrete shelters in areas where it is impossible to quickly construct high quality permanent shelters.

Kyiv has introduced a single number for all emergencies – 112 as announced by Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs. After a call to this number, operators will direct citizens’ requests to relevant departments. It also employs sign language specialists who can communicate with applicants via video call. The 112 service is planned to be launched first in large cities, and by the end of 2024 it should be available throughout Ukraine.

The Kyiv City State Administration has started registering everyone for one-day free training to prepare for national resistance. Six-hour classes for civilians will be held in basics of mine and explosive safety, marksmanship training, actions in conditions of radiation and chemical contamination.

A presentation of a bilingual collection of poetry “God, it Turns Out You Were in the Basement of the Mariupol Theater!” took place in Kyiv. The event was held at the National Museum of Literature of Ukraine. The collection is written in two languages – Ukrainian and Georgian. Ukrainian and Georgian poets, translators, and scholars took an active part in its preparation, and the collection’s illustrator was Kharkiv artist Daria Khrystanfova.  

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitaliy Bunechko, Head of the RMA, says that together with the Ministry of Infrastructure, 70% of all destroyed facilities have already been restored. Work is ongoing to protect power facilities. The region is also preparing to develop infrastructure projects that are extremely necessary for the oblast.

Zhytomyr oblast is one of 15 regions of Ukraine that has become a participant in the “Side by Side” community recovery project in Kherson oblast. The region will assist in the restoration of Tryfonivka village of Velyka Oleksandrivka community, where almost 150 houses out of two hundred were damaged as a result of russian aggression, and 6 buildings completely destroyed. Zhytomyr oblast allocates UAH 33 million to restore Tryfonivka. Construction workers have started work on site, experts have inspected the damaged infrastructure, and necessary construction materials are being sent to Kherson oblast.

In Narodychi settlement, construction of a temporary wooden bridge over the Uzh River is underway. The bridge is scheduled to open at the end of July. The Zhytomyr RMA is studying the possibility of repairing all the bridges in Narodychi that were destroyed in by russian troops when five villages in the community were under occupation and four bridges were blown up.

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy RMA, on 7 July, russian forces fired 18 times at the border area. There were 111 explosions. Hlukhiv, Druzhbivka, Znob-Novhorodіske, Esman, Krasnopillia, Mykolaivka,  and Seredyno-Buda communities were shelled. The enemy attacked with mortars and artillery, and fired unguided aerial missiles from a helicopter at Shalyhyne community. The shelling damaged a power line in Krasnopillia community.

The russian military fired 15 times at the border area. There were 11 artillery strikes, 44 mortar attacks, 5 grenade launcher shots, a VOG-type projectile from an enemy UAV, and helicopter attacks with unguided aerial missiles – 8 explosions rang out.

Sumy RMA reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine downed an enemy drone over Shostka region of Sumy oblast. 

In Trostianets, all scheduled actions for reconstruction projects have been completed. The construction of an interchange has begun, and work on the restoration of the station is expected to begin by mid-August.

The Commander of the ‘North’ Operational Command met with young bloggers from Sumy oblast. Students visited the Regional Training and Communications Centre, where they studied practical experience of military journalists, press service, and public relations services of military formations.

Chernihiv oblast

The SBGS reported that russians fired eight times at the border. There were 62 explosions. The enemy dropped 15 mines and 20 artillery shells on the territory of Semenivka community, and 27 mortar attacks were recorded in Novhorod-Siverskyi community.

The ‘North’ Operational Command, reports that shelling of Hremiach village resulted in destruction of a farm near the settlement. There were 27 mortar attacks on the village.

According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, the village of Yahidne was incorporated into a nationwide comprehensive reconstruction pilot project. The first stage is  private houses, the second stage is a club and library, and the third stage is a school memorial where the Russian military set up a torture chamber for the residents. According to him, a public hearing on the project will be held on Sunday to decide in what style the village will be restored. 

Currently, seven houses and one commercial building are being restored in Yahidne village with materials provided by the Latvian government. In addition, 100 houses have been partially restored with funds from the regional and national budgets and the active participation of Dobrobat volunteers.

The oblast administration informs about enhanced cooperation with more than 300 donor organizations, development partners, and charities.  In 2023 alone, more than 70 joint meetings were held. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 162 cooperation documents have been signed and 298 recipients have received assistance.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

During the night, the enemy attacked an agricultural enterprise in Pokrovskyi district of Kryvyi Rih twice with drones. According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Council,  a hangar was completely destroyed and the other one partially destroyed. Seven trucks were damaged.

A 26 years old man was injured with shrapnel wounds to his thigh. The man was hospitalised in moderate condition. During the day, the enemy shelled Marhanets community of Nikopol region twice with cannon artillery. 

Serhii Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration  informed that only a third of the city’s residents are provided with water supply. Currently, there are about 40 water distribution points in the city.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​According to the RMA, a modular town will be built in Vinnytsia oblast for IDPs with disabilities and the elderly. Assistance was provided by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Kirovohrad oblast

According to Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, enemy Shahed-type drones attacked Kirovohrad oblast in the morning. Air defence forces were on alert. 

In Kropyvnytskyi, a cultural and artistic event 500 Days of the Unbreakable has started. The funds raised will go to help military medics.

Poltava oblast

Poltava-born Serhii Volynskyi, Commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, who defended Mariupol, returned to Ukraine from Turkey after being captured by russia.

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of Poltava Regional State Administration, doctors from Poltava oblast have examined children in five villages in Kherson oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

Serhii, code-named Barbos, a defender from Cherkasy oblast, participated in a counter-offensive in Kherson oblast as part of the 59th Brigade. In October, during the fighting, he was seriously wounded and lost his leg and arm. Today he is undergoing rehabilitation and preparing for prosthetics. Then he is going to return to the frontline.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Zaporizhzhia RMA reported that on July 7, russian troops fired at 15 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Two people were injured. 

The Main Directorate of Intelligence reports that the russian military continues to mine the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, bringing mines and explosives there.

According to Energoatom, as of 10 am, there was a slight decrease in the water level in the cooling pond of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. It is currently 16.53 m, the situation at the plant is under control. 

Berdiansk Military Administration reported that residents of the temporarily occupied city who have debts for utilities are threatened by russians to confiscate their property and move occupiers and collaborators into their homes. 

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that on July 7, russian troops shelled Ochakiv and the city’s water area, as well as Kutsurub community with artillery. There were no casualties. The Defense Forces destroyed a russian Orlan-10 UAV.

Viktoriia Shapovalova, Head of the department for combating crimes at the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, met with representatives of the Interagency Working Group of Military Experts at the Prosecutor General’s Office, the European Union Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine (EUAM) and an expert from the Advisory Group on Atrocity Crimes (AGA). Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on russian war crimes, and cooperation with Ukrainian law enforcement agencies were under discussion. 

In Mykolaiv oblast, 159 civilians, including 2 children, were killed during the 500 days of war. 18,210 civilian buildings were damaged, namely residential buildings, educational institutions, cultural monuments, historical buildings, etc. The amount of damage caused by the destruction of urban infrastructure due to systematic shelling by the occupiers exceeded EUR 860 mln.

According to officials at the Mykolaiv Zoo, a mobile class, “Furry Rehabilitation,” began this weekend. For 13 to 15 hours over the weekend, everyone can communicate with their four-legged friends, learn many interesting things about them, and even feed them. In these turbulent times, people are in desperate need of psychological comfort and rest of mind. Animals have always coped well with these situations and communication with them can only bring good things.

Odesa oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that in Odesa oblast, the Ukrainian military shot down a russian Shahed-type drone.

On the 500th day of russia’s large-scale invasion, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with the heads of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, visited Zmiinyi Island in the Black Sea. The President announced this on his Facebook page, posting a video message, saying: “…We honored the memory of the heroes who gave their lives in this battle, one of the most important during the full-scale war…”. Given the possibility of missile and air strikes on the island by the occupiers, this was a rather brave action.

Kherson oblast

Natalia Humenyuk, Head of the press center of the Southern Defense Forces, reported that the Defense Forces eliminated 30 russian servicemen, two large-caliber guns, three boats and two units of armored vehicles. 

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA reported that on July 7, russian troops fired 91 times at the de-occupied Kherson oblast. They fired at Lvove, Tokarivka, Antonivka, Veletynske, Kizomys and Kherson. They hit residential areas, a school in Inhulka and two enterprises of Novokakhovka community. One person was injured. 

Volodymyr Litvinov, Head of Beryslav Military Administration reported that over the past day, russian troops shelled three communities Zmiivka, Shliakhove, Zolota Balka and Lvove. Houses and outbuildings were damaged. There were no casualties.

Water samples from two wells in Tokarivka revealed excessive levels of nitrates and ammonia. The system needs to be flushed and disinfected. In Ingulets surface water samples, the amount of dry residue has not changed since yesterday: it exceeds the parameter by 1.03 times, and dissolved oxygen is less than normal.

 

A new office of emergency workers has been opened in Biliaivka, Novooleksandrivska community. They were provided with an all-terrain IVECO fire truck, equipment, primary fire extinguishing equipment and a generator. This is the sixth department opened in Beryslav region after the de-occupation.

 

An open art festival of murals on bomb shelters From Constitution to Independence is held in Kherson. It was organized to support Kherson residents and make concrete shelters attractive. The festival will last until August 24.

 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The city council of Lutsk reported that 12 sets of power supplies for DJJ Mavic 3, DJJ Mavic 3T and 20 memory cards were sent to the military unit A 7062 purchased with funds from the city budget and from the deputy fund of the Svydomi action.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA, within the framework of cooperation with Burgenland, reached agreements and secured the membership of the representative from Zakarpattia oblast in the Committee of the Regions of the European Union with the corresponding contract. This important strategic work is aimed at developing Ukraine and strengthening its position in the main European institutions.

Zakarpattia RMA and the Dream of Children of Ukraine NGO signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. It provides for the implementation of joint projects to support the families of fallen defenders and children deprived of parental care due to the war.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Prykarpattia joins the new Side by Side project to contribute to restoration of the village of Davidiv Brid (Kherson oblast). Reconstruction of the settlement will begin with those objects that can be restored as soon as possible for those people who have already returned to Kherson oblast and live in destroyed housing. Critically important social infrastructure facilities will also be restored. Repair work is scheduled to begin on July 10.

Lviv oblast

Work continues in Lviv to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling of civilian buildings. 240 employees of various municipal services of the city and heavy equipment of large utility companies are involved in the works.

In Lviv, 18 roofs were destroyed by russian shelling. As of now, 12 roofs are completely covered with tarpaulin or film. 4 roofs cannot be restored, they need reconstruction. 926 windows were damaged. As of now, 662 windows have been covered with film. Work is ongoing. Electricity and water supply have been restored to all buildings, except for the three that were damaged the most.

Andrii Sadovyi, Lviv Mayor, met with 60 families who lost their homes due to the russian missile attack. According to the mayor, the destroyed houses will be rebuilt, and as long as the works continue, the city will take care of the affected people.

Ihor Smilianskyi, Director of Ukrposhta, reported that in Lviv, Ukrposhta restored the branch destroyed as a result of the russian terrorist attack within a day.

Chervonohrad National Dance Ensemble Youth took part in the 3rd International Festival of Folk Culture in Kozelice, Poland. During the month, dancers daily gave charity performances in cities of Poland, collecting money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over UAH 40K were collected for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Over 140 IDPs who recently arrived in Strii region received humanitarian assistance (bedding, pillows, camping beds, mattresses, blankets, hygiene products, kitchen sets, clothes, shoes) thanks to the Advisory and Coordination Center at the Strii DMA and the NEEKA Ukraine fund. The people were also provided with legal assistance by specialists of the Norwegian Refugee Council in Ukraine, in particular regarding compensation for destroyed housing.

The RMA reported that the military received 22 off-road vehicles, 2 logging trucks, 22 quadcopters and 6 6 kW generators. The assistance was provided by Polish foresters for Ukrainian colleagues of the Western Interregional Forestry and Hunting Management.

Rivne oblast

Vitalii Koval, Head of Rivne RMA, together with Major General Serhii Litvinov, Commander of the West operational command, visited positions of his compatriots in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The military received aid to fight the invaders more effectively.

Ternopil oblast

Six specialists from Blahoustrii, Park Cultural and Sports Complex, Misksvitlo and Ritual Service went for 10 days to help their fellow utility workers in Kherson to eliminate the consequences of yet another criminal act by the russians. Since they arrived, they had already come under russian artillery fire twice.    

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi territorial center of recruitment and social support reported that in the village of Stavchyntsi of Chornoostrivska community, near the memorial sign in honor of fellow villagers’ soldiers, a memorial plaque to Vasyl Liashko was unveiled. The man was called up for military service in a separate mountain assault brigade. He was mortally wounded in the battles near Rozdolivka, Donetsk oblast.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi RMA held a meeting with Julian Foto, State Secretary of Romania for Strategic Affairs. Support for Ukraine was discussed.

A dormitory for 40 IDPs was renovated in Bilovtsi. In Kruhlik, a former administrative building was converted into a shelter. Now it is a family-type dwelling for 30 people. Repairs were made with the funds of the regional budget in co-financing with the territorial community and international organizations.

Pentagon announced a new $800 million package of military aid to Ukraine, which includes 32 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and 32 Stryker armored personnel carriers; 31 155-mm howitzers; additional ammunition for Patriot and HIMARS air defense systems; AIM-7 air defense missiles; anti-aircraft complexes Stinger, Javelin; 105-mm and 155-mm artillery shells, including DPICM (cluster); tube-launched missiles, Penguin unmanned aerial systems and explosive munitions; demining equipment, spare parts, small arms and 28 million cartridges for them; 27 tactical vehicles for lifting equipment and 10 for towing equipment.

Oleksii Reznikov, Defense Minister, announced that Swedish CV-90 BMPs have arrived in Ukraine and are ready for battle.

Jake Sullivan, US President’s National Security Adviser, announced that the US will deliver cluster munitions to Ukraine in the next package of military aid.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Antonio Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal, adopted a joint declaration in which the Portuguese side supported the movement of Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance. Thus, Portugal became the 23rd country that made a declaration on Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey in the field of strategic industries. The Memorandum will contribute to the strengthening of the partnership between the states and the development of technologies and industries of strategic importance.

The Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Land Transport Agency of Azerbaijan have agreed on the quota of permits for international freight transportation for 2024.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey. They discussed protection and development of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and further efforts for food security.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, once again expressed her support for Ukraine. “500 days of russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. 500 days of courageous Ukrainian resistance. 500 days of unwavering European support for Ukraine. We will be close to Ukraine for as long as it takes,” she wrote on Twitter.

Bridget Brink, US Ambassador to Ukraine, addressed Ukrainians on the occasion of the 500th day of the full-scale russian invasion and emphasized that the United States will continue to support Ukraine.

Maia Sandu ,President of Moldova, addressed the citizens of her country on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. “Ukraine will win. It cannot be otherwise. Ukrainians are a people of peace, and we stand with them,” she concluded, adding “Glory to Ukraine!”
