The enemy launched 27 airstrikes, 37 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian cities and Ukrainian Armed Forces. There were killed and injured civilians, houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.
Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and air strikes.
The enemy is concentrating its main efforts towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka. Heavy battles are underway. There were 27 combat clashes.
Towards Volyn and Polissia, no significant changes were detected. There are no signs of the formation of offensive groupings.
Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy shelled with mortar and artillery about 10 settlements, including Vyntorivka, Iskryskivschyna, Yastrubyne of Sumy oblast and Udy, Veterinarne and Vovchansk of Kharkiv oblast.
Towards Kupiansk, our soldiers are defending fiercely. The enemy carried out airstrikes at Kolodyazny and Kislivka, Kharkiv oblast. Krasne Pershe, Fiholivka, Dvorichne, Kupiansk and Kislivka were shelled with artillery and mortar.
Towards Lyman, russians assaulted and tried to knock out our troops from their positions in the area west of Spirnyi, Donetsk oblast, without success. They carried out airstrikes in the areas of Novosadovo, Ivanivka, Serebriansk forestry and Spirne, Donetsk oblast. Over 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, and Torske, Spirne, Berestov, and Vesele, Donetsk oblast, were shelled with artillery.
Towards Bakhmut, under heavy fire from the enemy aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the vicinity of the Dubovo-Vasylivka settlement, Donetsk oblast. The enemy launched airstrikes at Oleksandro-Shultine and Severnye settlements. Over 10 settlements, including Markove, Bohdanivka, Khromov, and Ivanivske, Donetsk oblast, were under enemy artillery shelling.
Towards Avdiivka, the Armed Forces continue to deter the advancement of russian troops in the vicinity of Avdiivka. The enemy shelled more than 10x settlements, including Novokalynov, Lastochkine, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Mariinka, under enemy artillery fire, our defenders repelled all enemy attacks in the vicinity of Mariinka. The enemy launched an air strike in the Krasnohorivka area. They shelled over 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Mariinka, Heorhiivka, Maksimilianivka, Elizavetivka, and Katerynivka, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the Novomykhailivka area, Donetsk oblast. They shelled over 10 settlements, including Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechistivka, Zolota Niva, Shakhtarske, and Velika Novosilka, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, russian forces are on the defensive, and concentrate their main efforts on preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops. They carried out airstrikes in Rivnopol and Novodanilivka areas, Zaporizhzhia oblast and Kozatskyi, Kherson oblast. They conducted artillery shelling of over 20 settlements, including Temyrivka, Novodarivka, Chervone, Hulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia oblast; Beryslav, Vesele, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Kherson oblast and Kherson. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct offensive operations towards Melitopol and Berdyansk, are constructing defenses, and carrying out counter-battery measures.
Forced passporting of Ukrainian citizens in Luhansk oblast continues. So, in the city of Starobilsk, russian occupiers issued resident cards of the russian federation with a validity period of 3 months to all employees of the local hospital. Citizens of Ukraine are threatened that if they do not receive russian documents within this period, they will be deported from the temporarily occupied territory with the confiscation of their homes.
The Ukrainian Air Force conducted 1 airstrike on the enemy manpower buildup.
The Ukrainian rocket troops and artillery units hit 2 manpower, weapons and military equipment concentrations, 2 artillery units at firing positions and 2 electronic warfare stations.
According to the Ministry of Energy, since the full-scale invasion started, russia launched 271 strikes against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Russia launched missile attacks on critical infrastructure from October 10 to March 9. As a result, Ukraine lost 50% of the entire energy system, including generation and transmission systems. Some of the facilities cannot be restored.
According to Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries, in June, Ukraine produced more mortar and artillery shells than last year. However, there is still a long way to go to increase ammunition production.

Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in an evening report on 9 July that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are defending towards Kupiansk but russian troops are attacking with aircraft, mortars and artillery.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that yesterday the invaders launched air strikes on the outskirts of Mylove, Kyslivka of Kupiansk region and Veterynarne of Kharkiv region. More than 15 settlements were shelled with mortars and artillery, specifically, Hraniv of Kharkiv region, Khatyshche, Vovchansk, Varvarivka, Tsehelne of Chuhuiv region, Fykholivka, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Kamianka of Kupiansk region.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Regional Military Administration added that during the day, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service inspected 5.8 hectares where they found and defused 70 explosive ordnance. The work involved 31 pyrotechnic crews, 158 people and 62 pieces of equipment.
Donetsk oblast
According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, russians killed 10 civilians on 8 July: 9 in Lyman and 1 in Avdiivka. 13 people were injured.
Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk oblast reported that the day before in the morning, russians shelled Lyman, killing 9 people and injuring 12. At night, russian occupants attacked Kramatorsk residential area. After midnight, russian troops attacked Kramatorsk with Smerch multiple rocket launchers. Two powerful explosions were heard. According to police, three apartment buildings and cars were damaged. There was no information on casualties.
Towards Volnovakha, russians shelled Velyka Novosilka with self-propelled artillery systems, hitting 2 streets. Vuhledar was shelled 16 times.
Towards Donetsk, the enemy launched a missile attack on Avdiivka and shelled Krasnohorivka in Marinka community and the outskirts of Ocheretyne community. In Kurakhove community, 2 buildings were damaged in Kurakhivka.
Towards Horlivka, 3 buildings were damaged in Druzhba of Toretsk community. An apartment building was damaged in Chasiv Yar community. An administrative building, a private building and a 2-storey building were damaged in Novodmytrivka of Kostiantynivka community.
Towards Lysychansk, a building in Siversk was destroyed, 4 buildings in Zvanivka and 5 in Pereizne were damaged.
The police said that one civilian was also killed in Kryva Luka village. He tripped on an explosive device while fishing in Siverskyi Donets River.
Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Donetsk oblast informed that on 9 July, russian military shelled Chasiv Yar. A shell hit a 3-storey residential building and a fire broke out. Due to repeated shelling, rescuers were forced to leave the scene of the fire
State Border Guard Service confirmed that mortar units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine neutralised a Russian military base near Bakhmut. Border guards managed to eliminate five russian soldiers.
National Resistance Centre said that people are quitting the railway in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk oblast. Russians are compensating the shortage of personnel with specialists from the central regions of russia.
Before the full-scale invasion, there were nine libraries in Toretsk community. Currently, they are all damaged or destroyed by russian shelling. Despite this, librarians continue to work in evacuation not only as library staff, but also as children’s therapists.
Drobysheve village is located 9 kilometres from Lyman. From May to September 2022, it was occupied by Russian troops. For almost five months of occupation, locals say that not a single house survived.
Luhansk oblast
Luhansk Regional Military Administration said that the invaders do not stop destroying the de-occupied settlements of Luhansk oblast despite the fact that civilians remain in these villages.
Luhansk RMA added that in addition to constant shelling, the enemy is frequently launching air strikes on our villages, which is making the situation even more dangerous. Yesterday, enemy aviation was shelling Novoliubivka, Novoiehorivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka, Dibrova – almost along the entire frontline.
The enemy attempted to attack towards Stelmakhivka and Novoselivske but faced fierce resistance from our defenders and was forced to retreat to previously occupied positions.
In Svatove, russians continue to register “ownerless” real estate, demand documents to confirm ownership and search for homes of those who have left for safe regions of Ukraine or abroad. They also find apartments where the owners do not live. Local collaborators help with the registration and further resettlement of the invaders. They hunt not only for empty houses but also for cars with Ukrainian license plates. The occupation authorities have intensified road raids in the territories occupied last year – they check on the roads and in garages.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the task of protecting the sky over Kyiv from russian missiles is nearly accomplished. The military is currently working to protect other cities – Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa – from missile strikes.
Mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klychko announced that more than 170 civilians in Kyiv have been killed as a result of enemy attacks since the beginning of the full-scale war. Seven of them were children. Due to russian aggression, more than 400 residential buildings were destroyed in the capital.
EOD teams from Kyiv oblast are helping to clear Mykolaiv oblast of explosive ordnance. Specifically, one of the teams from the Special Emergency and Rescue Unit of Bila Tserkva is surveying and clearing the territories in Snihurivka territorial community of Bashtanka region, which suffered the most from the armed aggression.
The ‘Recovery’ rehabilitation center, which opened in May 2023, will increase the number of beds for the military. According to Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Medical Center, an additional 20 rehabilitation beds will be arranged by the end of the fall. Currently, the facility has 12 inclusive wards with 30 beds. The center has physical rehabilitation rooms, physiotherapy rooms, and massage rooms. Since May, 58 soldiers have undergone rehabilitation there.
This week, Kyiv Subway received six more cars as part of technical assistance from Polish colleagues in Warsaw. In total, the capital’s subway has received 18 cars; 42 are expected to be delivered by the end of this year.
Lithuanian capital is waiting for runners participating in the ultramarathon “Raising the flag for Ukraine in NATO” who are running from Kyiv to Vilnius with the flag of Ukraine from the Ukrainian military from Bakhmut. The flag will be raised at the square in the center of Vilnius, where the Lenin monument was once toppled. Natalia Šertvienė, head of the local Ukrainian community, added that 33,000 Ukrainian flags are planned to be raised in Vilnius on the day of the summit to make Ukraine the 33rd NATO member.
Artillery shell casings painted by children in Bucha and a Ukrainian flag with children’s autographs will be auctioned off in Switzerland. All proceeds will be donated to charity: part of the money will go to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the rest will be used to rebuild Bucha.

Zhytomyr oblast
On behalf of all Zviagel residents, Mayor Mykola Borovets presented Valeriy Zaluzhnyi with the most honorable community awards – the Order of Zviagel and the Pride of Zvyagel award. The awards were presented on July 8, marking the 500th day of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine and the 50th anniversary of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The State Emergency Service reported another train with 16 evacuated people, including three children, has arrived in Berdychiv. The internally displaced persons came from the territory of Donetsk oblast, where active hostilities are taking place. In the future, people will be resettled on the territory of Semenivka and Krasnopillia territorial communities.
At the Teteriv Open tournament in Zhytomyr, participants raised funds for a quadcopter for the Ukrainian military. The city council reported that the open water swimming tournament started in the Zhytomyr Hydropark. Nearly 300 swimmers from 28 clubs and 12 oblasts of Ukraine participated in the event.
On July 10, a charity auction featuring Mykhailo Khoma (Dzidzio), Yuriy Horbunov, and Oleksandr Ponomaryov will be held in Zhytomyr. This event will be conducted with the support of the Zhytomyr Regional Organization of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. All funds raised will be used for the needs of the Ukrainian defense forces.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on July 8, the enemy opened fire 11 times at the border areas of the oblast. Bilopillia, Nova Sloboda, Putyvl, Seredyno-Buda, and Esman communities were shelled. In total, there were 54 shells fired from artillery systems and mortars. Also, unguided aerial rockets launched from a helicopter were applied, and explosive devices as VOG were dropped from UAVs. A private house in Esman community was damaged as a result of shelling.
At night and in the morning of July 9, the russians launched 7 attacks on the border areas. Mykolaivka and Seredyno-Buda communities were subjected to mortar fire. 8 explosions were recorded in each community.
According to the regional police, as a result of russian shelling on July 8, 5 private houses, two outbuildings, a water tower, a gas pipeline, and power lines were damaged. Law enforcement recorded 109 shells fired on the territory of Sumy oblast.
The Ministry of Energy reported that due to the previous shelling, some households in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts are still without power. Repair crews are busy restoring power supply where the current situation allows
Oksana Malchenko, head of the NGO Space of Equal Opportunities, reported that volunteer support center named 235 Square was opened in Sumy. The center was created as a universal hub for educational events of various formats as part of the project “Support for Frontline Volunteers in Sumy” with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Chernihiv oblast
According to the Chernihiv border guard detachment, on July 8, russian military shelled border communities in Chernihiv oblast from helicopters, artillery systems, and mortars. Border guards recorded 6 explosions from unguided air-to-surface rockets from a helicopter in Hremyach village, Novhorod-Siversk community; there were 6 artillery strikes in Mykhalchyna Sloboda village, six mortar explosions – in Buchky village, and seven shells fired at Bleshnya village, Semenivka community.
The fallen military pilots from Chernihiv oblast – Vadym Blahovisnyi and Danylo Murashko – were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Vadym Blahovisnyi conducted 95 combat missions, destroyed 100 armored vehicles, more than 80 vehicles, and repeatedly evacuated aircraft from enemy air and missile attacks. Since February 24, 2022, Danylo Murashko destroyed about 600 occupants, 70 units of armored vehicles, and more than 80 vehicles. They were killed while performing combat missions.
According to Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, 101 private houses, 17 apartment buildings, 2 social infrastructure facilities, and 2 commercial properties are planned to be repaired as part of the pilot project for comprehensive rehabilitation in Yahidne village.
During the year of the “Own Business” program of the government project eRobota, 166 entrepreneurs and their business plans in Chernihiv oblast have been accepted and financed. Thanks to the implementation of this program, about 360 new jobs will be created in the oblast.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast
According to head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, russians attacked Nikopol with heavy artillery. The shelling damaged 4 private houses, 4 outbuildings, and a power line.

Vinnytsia prosecutor’s office handed over six thermal imagers to an assault brigade that is currently performing combat missions in the eastern part of Ukraine.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, the enemy conducted 47 shelling attacks on 15 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian forces targeted Orikhiv with a guided aerial bomb and shelled Chervone, Novodarivka, and Temirivka with multiple rocket launchers. Additionally, 42 artillery strikes hit Huliaipole, Zaliznychnei, Orikhiv, Olhivske, Preobrazhenkai, and Stepnohirsk. As a result, 24 civilian civilians, including residential buildings, utility structures, and other properties, were damaged.
On July 8, four fires broke out in Polohy region due to russian shelling. Two residential buildings and utility structures covering a total area of 120 square meters were ablaze, along with dry grass and debris on an open area of 1.6 hectares. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fires.
Mykolaiv oblast
Russian aggressors continue shelling Mykolaiv oblast. Yesterday, the waters of Ochakiv community and the settlement of Kutsurub community were shelled. On July 8, at 18:40, and today during the night on July 9 at 00:01, 00:32, and 04:31, the enemy launched artillery strikes on the waters of Ochakiv community. Also, yesterday at 19:15, the enem shelled the outskirts of the settlement in Kutsurubiv community. According to Mykolaiv RMA, there were no casualties.
Mykolaiv Regional Branch of the Fund for Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities has signed cooperation agreements with hospitals in Mykolaiv. They have agreed on joint actions to provide assistance to the military in terms of supplying rehabilitation aids.
Sviatoslav Vakarchuk performed for the paratroopers of the Mykolaiv-based 79th Brigade. The concert was short but memorable to the paratroopers due to its sincerity and openess. The singer performed well-known hits as well as new compositions created during the full-scale invasion. Sviatoslav Vakarchuk noted that it was his 214th concert for the servicemen of the AFU since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Odesa oblast
According to the Ukrainian Naval Forces, the russian army has not deployed any missile carriers in the Black Sea. In total, there are five russian ships on combat duty in the Black Sea and one ship in the Sea of Azov. Meanwhile, in the Mediterranean Sea, the russian army has up to eight ships, none of which are missile carriers for the “Kalibr” missiles.
The National Military-Historical Museum of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine hosted a presentation for members of the Kyiv Association of Military Attachés and diplomats from partner countries. The presentation showcased the English version of the documentary film “The Battle for Zmiinyi (Snake) Island: Sea” from the trilogy “Ukrainian Military Intelligence: at Sea, in the Sky, on Land.” The film was created with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy in collaboration with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The event commemorated the first anniversary of the installation of Ukrainian national flags on Zmiinyi (Snake) Island, which was liberated from russian aggressors after a lengthy operation by the Ukrainian Defense and Security Forces.
Kherson oblast
Today, around 13:00, the russian army struck a residential quarter in Kherson. As a result of the russian shelling, a 66-year-old woman was injured. She was diagnosed with a concussion and head wounds.
Yesterday, the enemy launched 59 shelling attacks, firing 334 projectiles from mortars, artillery, aviation, “Grad” rockets, aircraft, and UAVs. The enemy launched 16 shells at the city of Kherson, targeting residential quarters in populated areas of the region and the territory of the shipbuilding plant in Kherson. As a result of russian aggression, one person was injured.
The “South” Operational Command reported enemy losses in the southern direction. Our missile and artillery units destroyed 37 occupiers, 2 large-caliber guns of the “Hyacinth” and “Msta-B” types, 2 boats, a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system “Buk,” a radio-electronic warfare station, and 5 units of armored vehicles. Additionally, an observation post on one of the islands in the Dnipro Delta was destroyed.
Two civilians were injured in Tiahynka due to the detonation of a russian explosive device. According to preliminary information, two men were trying to dismantle an unidentified explosive object.
Restoration works have begun in 26 settlements on the right bank of Kherson oblast within the “Shoulder-to-Shoulder” program. Ternopil oblast is taking care of the village of Arkhangelske in Vysokopyllia community. This was announced by the head of Ternopil RMA, Volodymyr Trush. According to him, 23 houses will be completely repaired in the near future.
The residents of Kherson oblast continue to receive necessary humanitarian assistance. 66 pallets of humanitarian cargo were sent to Zelenivka, Chornobaivka, and Stepanivka. Food products, baby food, hygiene items, blankets, and pillows are being distributed free of charge at distribution centers. Humanitarian shipments arrive every two weeks. Bread and drinking water are distributed daily at the distribution points.
This weekend, two more mobile concrete shelters were installed in Bilozerka and Stanislav. These settlements are under constant enemy fire. Shelters have been installed in crowded places where one can take cover during the next russian shelling.

During a working trip to Volyn oblast, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, held a coordination meeting. The socio-economic and security situation in the oblast were discussed.
The photo exhibition Heavenly Photographer with works of Maksym Burda, deceased defender of Volyn, was presented in Lutsk.
Zakarpattia oblast
In Uzhhorod, the concept of a memorial to fallen Heroes on the Hill of Glory was approved during a meeting in the city council with relatives of fallen Heroes. An evergreen backdrop will be created around the memorial, thuja or other types of conifers will be planted and thus fence off the space from the general cemetery.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
A children’s summer health campaign is ongoing in the oblast. There are 19 officially registered children’s camps in Prykarpattia, 18 of them are equipped with safe shelters in case of an “air raid”. In general, it is planned to improve the health of almost 30K children during the summer.
Lviv oblast
Lviv City Council reported that UNESCO representatives visited the site of the rocket attack on July 6 in Lviv. UNESCO has promised to dedicate a major conference in France to this case and to make a clear statement about those who committed the murders.

Five Azovstal defenders who were in Turkey after being released from russian captivity were met in Lviv. Ukrainian soldiers Denys Prokopenko, Sviatoslav Palamar, Serhii Volynskyi, Oleh Khomenko, Denys Shlega returned home.

A complex of classes on radiation safety was held in Lviv oblast. During the classes, they taught how to act under the condition of the wind direction in the westerly direction, when the radiation “reached” Lviv oblast. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, posthumously awarded with the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Golden Star order to Bohdan Kalahursky from Lviv district. The captain of the 106th mechanized battalion of the 63rd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine killed during the fighting on August 19 in the village of Blahodatne in Mykolaiv oblast.
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was awarded with the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Yavoriv. When Valerii Zaluzhnyi served in the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo and was chief of staff, he lived in Yavoriv.
Rivne oblast
The RMA reported that soldiers of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted training. Mortars of the brigade practiced shooting and adjusting at the specified targets. The conventional positions of the enemy were destroyed.
Ternopil oblast
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, awarded with the title of Hero of Ukraine to two soldiers from Ternopil oblast. Vitalii Derech, commander of the anti-tank division of the Aidar assault battalion, Ukrainian journalist, was killed near Popasnaya (Luhansk oblast). Serhii Korol, serviceman of the 105th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign Makhno, was killed in Kharkiv oblast.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that another evacuation train with residents of Kherson oblast arrived in Khmelnytskyi oblast. Specialists of the State Emergency Service, including emergency psychologists, helped to get off the train, move things, and also provided psychological assistance.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the CLEAR program, which is implemented by the Global Communitis company with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau of Humanitarian Aid. Two oblasts with high needs for humanitarian aid, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv, received priority in aid. The CLEAR program will work with target communities that have insufficient access to international humanitarian aid outside of major cities.
A shelter was opened in Toporivska community for 75 IDPs who came from oblasts where active hostilities are taking place. The premises, which used to be the Sonechko preschool, were converted into a shelter. The cost of major repairs with conversion is over UAH 3.5 million. In general, 52 institutions in Chernivtsi oblast where IDPs can live were repaired with budget funds and with the help of international partners.

Bulgaria extended the program of support for asylum seekers from Ukraine until the end of September. In addition, the Government of Bulgaria instructed the Ministers of Labor and Social Policy and Education to develop proposals that would facilitate the integration of persons with temporary protection into the country’s society within 2 months.
Ukrainian students can receive a scholarship from the European Central Bank. Grants in the amount of EUR 10K will be given to 15 students of Ukrainian universities.
