War in Ukraine today: latest news, January 29, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 705 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The adversary continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets.

The enemy actively uses aviation and quadrocopters of the “FPV” type, conducts assaults with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

During the day, 51 combat clashes took place. The enemy launched 6 missile strikes with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles against the civil infrastructure of Mirnograd, Donetsk and Muzykivka, Kherson regions. The enemy also carried out 64 airstrikes, launched 45 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Residential buildings, a school and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

On the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and intelligence activities, attacks populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Veliky Burluk and Khatne settlements of the Khakriv region. Shelled about 40 settlements with artillery and mortars, including Karpovychi, Gremyach of Chernihiv region; Popivka, Stepok, Grabovske, Sumy Region; Guryev Kozachok, Ohirtseve, Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, our defenders repelled 7 attacks near Synkivka and east of Pishchany in the Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our troops. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Petropavlivka, Berestovo, Kharkiv Region, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk Region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestov in the Kharkiv region and Kryvoshiivka in the Luhansk region.

On the Lymanskyi direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 4 attacks in the Serebryansk forestry areas of the Luhansk region and Terniy of the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defenses of our troops. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Novoehorivka, Bilogorivka, Serebryansk Forestry of Luhansk Oblast and Rozdolivka of Donetsk Oblast. Shelled more than 10 settlements with artillery and mortars, among them Nevske, Bilogorivka, Serebryansk Forestry of Luhansk Oblast and Serebryanka, Spirne, Rozdolivka of Donetsk Oblast.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks near Ivanovsky, Donetsk region, where the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, New York of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Kurdyumivka of the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 8 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and another 5 attacks near Pervomaiskyi and Nevelskyi, Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our troops. More than 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Mariinsky direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Georgiyivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region. Here, the invaders unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position 6 times. Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, Maksimilianivka, Pobyeda, Paraskoviivka, and Novomykhailivka came under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

In the Shakhtarsky direction, our defenders repulsed an enemy attack near Zolota Niva, Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the Staromayorsky district of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vugledar, Prechistivka, Zolota Niva, and Staromayorske of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders repulsed the attack of the invaders north of Pryutny, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements were hit by artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Gulyaipole, Charivne, Orihiv, Robotine of the Zaporizhia region and Nikopol of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

In the zone of responsibility of the “Odesa” anti-aircraft missile defense system in the Kherson direction, enemy artillery shelling occurred in Kherson, Novokairy, Sadov, Prydniprovske of the Kherson region. The enemy also shelled the settlements of Respublikanets, Krynky, Ivanivka in the Kherson region with rocket salvo systems.

The enemy does not give up its intention to knock out the Ukrainian units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, during the day, 7 unsuccessful attempts to storm the positions of our troops were made.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 14 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment of the enemy.

Units of the missile forces struck 2 anti-aircraft defense systems, 4 artillery systems and the enemy’s electronic warfare station.

Ukraine can conduct training for any number of mobilized. To date, relevant events are constantly held, official meetings are held, where the actual capabilities of all training centers, the real state of the instructor staff, because a large part of them are involved in the areas of combat missions, are clarified. This was announced by the training commander of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Viktor Nikoliuk.

Over 50,000 people responded to the Armed Forces during the two months of recruitment. According to the number of military units that joined, now it is already more than half a thousand units. This is only for the last two months. Every week the number increases. The recruiting project was launched in November 23rd – starting with the company Lobby X. Later, Olx.ua, Work.ua and Robota.ua also became partners. Oleksiy Bezhevets, the authorized representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on recruiting issues, announced this.

From now on in Ukraine it is allowed to take pets to shelters during an air raid. This is possible provided that the owners of the animals ensure the safety of others and property. The owner is also obliged to: carry out constant supervision of the animal, ensure the necessary conditions that correspond to the biological, species and individual characteristics of the pet, comply with sanitary and hygienic requirements and veterinary regulations.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Based on the information provided by the General Staff, fighting continues along the entire frontline in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Yesterday the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled more than fifty attacks. Most of the fighting was towards Avdiivka and Marinka.

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff reported that russian troops attempted to break through the defences of Ukrainian forces east of Pishchane. At least 15 settlements in the region were under artillery and mortar attack.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that Ukrainian troops repelled 4 enemy attacks near Synkivka and east of Pishchane in Kupiansk region.  The invaders made unsuccessful attempts to break through Ukrainian defences.

More than 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including: Veterynarne, Lukiantsi of Kharkiv region, Okip of Bohodukhiv region, Vovchansk, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka of Kupiansk region.

At 4:50 pm a residential building was damaged in Novoosynove village, Kupiansk region, as a result of shelling. There were no casualties.

At 9 pm private houses, power grids, outbuildings and a fence were damaged in Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, as a result of hostile shelling.

During the day, combined teams of bomb experts cleared 1.98 hectares of territory and destroyed 112 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

Volodymyr Fito, Spokesman of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that Tabaivka, Kupiansk region, has not been occupied by russian invaders, positional fighting is ongoing there.

Mayor Valerii Marchenko said that the boiler house in Izium, which was damaged by a russian shell in 2022, has been repaired. It can heat 13 houses.  

The press service of Kharkivoblenerho reported that seven apartment blocks on Proskury Street have been connected to electricity. They had been without power since 23 January as a result of a russian missile hit.

The butterfly, which was found alive when the rubble at the Institute of Metrology was being cleared after the 31 December attack on Kharkiv by Shahed drones, was decided to be depicted on a sign above the entrance to the institute. Now, one of the letters features a white butterfly.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that the occupation forces attacked the residential sector 12 times. Also russian army fired from S-300, Grad MRLs, artillery and tanks. 6 settlements were hit: the Avdiivka, Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad cities, Ocheretyne settlement, Halytsynivka and Novobakhmutivka villages.  32 civilian objects were damaged, such as 17 residential buildings, a kindergarten, a school, a business, a garage, cars, a gas pipeline and a power line.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, towards Pokrovsk, 1 person was injured. Avdiivka and the outskirts of Kurakhove community suffered isolated attacks. Before, 3 people were injured, an administrative building destroyed and a kindergarten damaged in Myrnohrad.

Towards Kramatorsk, two private houses, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged in Kostiantynivka. Torske of Lyman community was shelled three times.

Towards Bakhmut, 2 private houses, an industrial building and 3 garages were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. Pereizne and Verkhnokamianske of Zvanivka community and Rozdolivka and Vasiukivka of Soledar community were shelled. Siversk was also under attack, with no casualties.

 54 people, including 11 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

The forced evacuation of children with their parents began from nine frontline villages of Marinka and Ocheretyne communities.

Since the beginning of 2024, pyrotechnics have found and defused more than four hundred explosive ordnance in Donetsk oblast. Currently, pyrotechnics are responding to requests from power engineers and processing information from locals about explosive findings.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, said that 1,014 residents remain in Avdiivka, which is 46 less than a few days ago. On 28 January, three more people were evacuated from the city. The situation in the city is difficult, but there are no suburban battles. The humanitarian situation has become more complicated as the road to the city is being shelled. People are now asking for evacuation themselves.

Luhansk oblast

The enemy is still actively advancing, now focusing towards Kupiansk. Towards Lyman, they tried to advance near Terny, south of our Nevske. The invaders are actively using heavy armoured vehicles to support the infantry’s attack intentions. The assault troops include both regular russian troops and groups formed from prisoners. In this section of the frontline, the invaders made 125 attacks over the day, using about 500 shells. Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka were hit.

Until January 2028, the rights to own or use property complexes of coal industry enterprises owned by the state of the “lpr” can be transferred to russians without bidding. The invaders made the decision in December 2023. Last week, the first agreement for the rent of coal mines and equipment was signed. It concerns the rent of the property of Bilorichensk mine, the mining and processing plant, and the production unit Krasnodon Cargo and Transport Department. This is a well-developed mine complex that does not require significant investments, like many other mines occupied in 2014.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The consequences of missile attacks by russian troops continue to be eliminated in Kyiv. Mykola Kalashnyk, the Head of the Darnytsia District State Administration, announced that currently, in the private sector of the Bortnychi microdistrict, residents are installing new metal-plastic windows. The renovation is funded by the American non-profit organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in partnership with the Howard Buffett Foundation (HGBF).

A high-rise building on Hostomel highway in Irpin, in which more than 40 families lived, is being repaired. The building was damaged as a result of a full-scale invasion by russian troops. The city council reported that the repairs were started in the 3rd quarter of last year with funding from the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression.

The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that the construction of the “Vesnyanka” kindergarten is underway on Poltavska Street in Irpin. The one-story building of the preschool was destroyed by the russians during the offensive on Kyiv in the spring of 2022. The new kindergarten will have 3 floors with an elevator and a swimming pool. The new preschool will be financed by the Fund for the Liquidation of the Consequences of Armed Aggression of the russian federation. The estimated cost of the reconstruction is about UAH 190 million.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported that South Korea will help restore water management infrastructure damaged by the war. The Kozarovytsia dam in Kyiv oblast, which was damaged in the first days of the full-scale invasion and had defensive significance for the defense of the capital, has been identified as a pilot project for reconstruction. Restoration of the dam will protect the settlements on the banks of the Irpin River below the Kyiv Reservoir from flooding.

Students of the University of Pennsylvania presented their developments on the restoration of the city of Bucha within the Diplomacy Lab program of the US State Department. Young architects presented the “Green Network Bucha” plan to representatives of the State Department and the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington. For further improvement and implementation of the project, students will communicate with representatives of Bucha City Council.

The Bucha community continues to help the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces – six kamikaze drones were handed over to the front line. Funds for drones were collected during the charity fairs “Donate the Armed Forces of Ukraine Kamikaze Drone”, which were held in all educational institutions of Bucha community. Also, with the help of international partners, the community collected funds for a Nissan SUV, which was given to the 23rd separate rifle battalion of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The National Museum of the History of Ukraine is launching a charity event ” Pass the Entry”. Any of the visitors or benefactors can give a ticket for a visit to the museum to relatives of military personnel, forced migrants, or people affected by military actions. A charity ticket within the scope of the “Pass the Entry” campaign can be purchased at the museum’s ticket office or through the “Ticket online” service.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr Lyceum No. 10, the simplest shelter was set up. After the start of a full-scale war, due to the lack of shelter, lyceum students studied remotely for two years. The finished school shelter has an area of 350 square meters and can accommodate more than 300 people. It has lecture halls, a dining hall, a kitchen, a recreation room, and equipped bathrooms. All rooms have a modern ventilation system.

Students of Luhyny Lyceum collected 20,000 hryvnias to purchase a prosthesis for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The aid will go to Lyceum graduate Volodymyr Kozarenko, who lost part of his arm as a result of the injury and is now undergoing rehabilitation. Lyceum students collected money during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

Employees of the Polissia Nature Reserve in the north of Zhytomyr oblast received a weather station, 4 generators and 10 new radio stations as part of the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine (UNDP). The new equipment was received from the Global Environmental Fund and the United Nations Development Program.

Sumy oblast

 Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that in the morning, the russians shelled the Druzhbivka community,  2 mortar explosions were recorded.

Petro Honcharov, the Head of Znob-Novhorodske community, announced that two men received shrapnel wounds in the community due to shelling on January 29. According to him, it happened around 11:00 on one of the streets of the village. One man was wounded in the abdomen, the other in the chest area. Both men are in hospital.

During the past day, January 28, the russian military carried out 28 shelling of Sumy oblast, a total of 267 explosions were recorded. Khotyn, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhine, Svesa and Seredina-Buda communities came under shelling. The enemy attacked with mortars, artillery, SPG grenade launchers, dropped VOG from UAVs, attacked with FPV type drones, used small arms and automatic cannons. On the territory of the Seredyna-Buda community, the russian military carried out a shelling from a helicopter with unguided aerial missiles.

Sumy Regional Emergency Service reported that over the past week, pyrotechnics of the oblast destroyed 16 munitions found on the territory of Sumy and Okhtyrka regions. Since the beginning of the year, 60 explosive objects have been discovered in the oblast.

In the Okhtyrka Youth Center, young people aged 14 to 30 learned how to win grants. The training under the name “Ideaton “Reconnect” was conducted by the NGO “Platform of Public Diplomacy”. As the head of the organization Denys Hanzha reported, 9 projects are planned to be financed, each worth up to 40 thousand hryvnias. Next week, three finalists from each of the three border regions (Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Sumy) will be chosen from among the teams.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv RMA reported that russian troops fired at a civilian car in the village of Hremyach of the Novhorod-Siverskyi border community. As a result of the attack, the car was hit by debris, no one was injured. A car with a driver and three passengers from the border village was on its way to the hospital in the regional center. The regional police reported that the blow was probably inflicted by an explosive object dropped from an enemy drone.

SBGS reported that during the past 24 hours, russian troops shelled two border communities of Chernihiv oblast. On the territory of the Semenivsa hromada: the enemy fired 5 mortar strikes in the direction of the village of Bleshnya, dropped VOG from an unmanned aerial vehicle on the outskirts of the village of Zarichchya and shelled the outskirts of the village of Karpovychi – 10 mortar hits, 2 VOG from an unmanned aerial vehicle and one strike by an FPV drone. The Novhorod-Siverskyi community was also under enemy shelling – 5 strikes by unguided air missiles in the area of the village of Krasniy Khutir.

Vyacheslav Chaus, the Head of Chernihiv regional military administration, announced that over the past week, the enemy shelled 12 border settlements of the oblast 30 times. During this period, 171 explosions were recorded. In particular, the enemy launched two air strikes.

Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a russian soldier was sentenced to life imprisonment, who, during the occupation of the village of Hayvoron in the Nizhyn region, illegally held three civilians in a basement, two of whom he later shot dead. He was found guilty of violating the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder. 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

At midnight the occupiers shelled Nikopol region with artillery. Marhanets community  was under fire. Due to the falling debris of the downed Shahed a warehouse was damaged in the Synelnykove region. There were no casualties.

During the day 2 people were injured due to enemy attacks on Nikopol. They were provided with the necessary medical assistance. One of them was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital. Another one will be treated on an outpatient basis. In total, during the day the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 8 times. They fired artillery and launched 3 kamikaze drones. They targeted the district center and Marhanets community. In Nikopol 8 private houses, a utility company, farm buildings, 2 power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged.

Serhii Lysak, Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported that 334 families of veterans from Dnipropetrovsk region received funds for housing. Funding was allocated from the state budget. 142 families have already bought houses, they chose them themselves. There’s no location restrictions. Any oblast, city, village are available.

Vinnytsia oblast

Supporting defenders in the Eastern and Southern directions and rehabilitating the military have become the main priorities of Vinnytsia. Mini Grads, reconnaissance and strike drones, more than a 100 thermal imagers and 2 powerful cars went to the front line to help the fighters. Military rehabilitation: gyms and rehabilitation halls, swimming pools, space for veterans to work. Serhii Morhunov, City Mayor reported that with the partners and benefactors funds a modern complex for the rehabilitation of wounded defenders was built.

Kirovohrad oblast

Since April 2022, a resident of Sokolivske village, Kropyvnytskyi region, Iryna Teriekhova has been taking aid to the Ukrainian military in “hot spots”. She came under fire several times, took out wounded soldiers and abandoned animals. Every month she delivers food, hygiene products and other necessary things to the military. Since the beginning of the full-scale war Iryna has delivered eight cars to the frontlines. During the first three months of the invasion more than a 1000 IDPs were sheltered in their cafe and more than a 100 people were received per day. Once the woman came under fire, received a concussion – now she can’t hear in one ear. Iryna believes that she was hardened by sports – the girl has a Master of Sports of the International Class title, won the world championship in aesthetic gymnastics. The volunteer says that now the military is asking for drones, cars and spare parts for them.

Poltava oblast

Philip Pronin, Head of the RMA reported that for 2 days in a row the occupiers shelled Kremenchuk region. Both times they hit an industrial facility. It’s not working now. During the shelling of the industrial facility, neither people nor residential buildings were damaged.

Cherkasy oblast

Head of Cherkasy RMA, Ihor Taburets met with the fallen defender’s family. He handed state awards to his wife Yana and daughter Miechka. As a memory of indomitable spirit, strength and courage and achievements. Andrii Lemishenko defended the country from the first days of russian aggression. Back in 2014.

He went through the fiercest battles, the hottest spots. The soldier, the Assumption Brigade of the Aidar Battalion commander was killed last year in March while defending Bakhmut.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, russian military personnel launched 126 attacks on 18 populated areas in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Occupiers conducted 2 MLRS bombardments at Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne, as well as 37 UAV attacks on Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novodarivka, Levadne, Charivne, Huliaipilskye, Novodanylivka, and Piatyhatky. 85 artillery strikes hit the territory of Orikhiv, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Bilohiria, Shcherbaky, Pryiutne, Novoandriivka, Kamianske, and other frontline towns and villages. There were 2 reports of residential buildings being destroyed, with no casualties reported.

Ukrainian forces successfully repelled an attack north of Pryiutne. This information was reported by the General Staff.

As part of the USAID project “Strengthening Public Trust,” 8 communities in the region received sets of IT equipment. These sets include laptops, mobile signal amplifiers, 4G signal boosters, and more.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, russian forces attacked Mykolaiv oblast using “Shahed-136/131” and FPV drones, carrying out artillery shelling. Private residences, an educational institution, and an administrative building were damaged. This information was reported by Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

Mykolaiv oblast received a fire truck from Swedish donors, the Lions Club Olofström. Additionally, Pervomaisk territorial community, besides fire equipment, received medical supplies and healthcare products. This was announced on January 29 by Mykolaiv RMA.

Odesa oblast

The enemy has reduced its naval grouping near Ukraine from 11 to 6 vessels. Additionally, 2 submarines remain on combat duty, armed with a total of 8 “Kalibr” missiles. The level of missile threat from the sea remains consistently high. This information was reported by the “South” Operational Command.

There are 9 vessels in the port of Odesa, 17 in Chornomorsk, and 5 in Pivdennyi. Additional 10 vessels are heading to leave the ports, with no information available on their entry. A queue of bulk carriers has formed near the Sulinsk Channel, intending to enter the Danube ports. There are currently over 30 vessels in Izmail, Ust-Dunaisk, and Kiliia, carrying agricultural and metal products. The majority of them will proceed for transshipment to European ports on the Danube. Kherson oblast

Yesterday, the enemy executed 89 attacks on Kherson oblast, firing 390 projectiles using mortars, artillery, MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System), tanks, and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). 2 people were wounded due to Russian aggression.

The police documented 9 war crimes committed by the russian army on the right bank of Kherson oblast. Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Inzhenerne, Beryslav, and Mykhailivka suffered from enemy attacks. Buildings and vehicles were damaged.

At night, the russian army shelled an agricultural enterprise in Muzykivka community. A hangar was destroyed, and agricultural machinery, including a combine, sprayer, and several vehicles, was damaged.

Intense counter-battery fighting continues in the Southern Defense Forces area of responsibility. The enemy has renewed its assault activity, making 8 unsuccessful attempts. Ukrainian forces are taking measures to expand the bridgehead.

Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to inflict fire damage on the enemy’s dislocation areas, firing positions, and rear areas. The enemy lost 105 occupiers, 2 tanks, 1 self-propelled artillery unit “Msta-S,” 5 cannons, 7 units of armored vehicles, 1 boat, and 1 antenna field of a radar station. Another UAV command post, storage location for ammunition, 4 observation posts, and a field supply buildup were destroyed.

Over the course of four days, doctors from the NGO “Casers” visited the villages of Kostyrka, Chkalove, and Kalynivske, providing examinations and consultations to more than 130 local residents. The brigade included a psychiatrist and an ultrasound doctor.

Kherson RMA reported on the results of cooperation with the organization Project HOPE, which provides assistance in the healthcare sector. Project HOPE was one of the first organizations to arrive with a humanitarian mission after the de-occupation of the right bank. Over the year, the Project HOPE team provided assistance to tens of thousands affected by hostilities, supplying medicines, consumables, and medical equipment to more than 30 healthcare facilities. They also launched seven mobile brigades providing urgent medical assistance. Six primary healthcare centers in the region received special vehicles, and more than 130 healthcare workers underwent training. Individuals affected by shelling and flooding received 22,600 individual and family hygiene kits, 3,790,000 liters of bottled drinking water, generators, and 60 tons of fuel briquettes for heating in hospitals.

Volyn oblast

Over UAH 354.5K of free funds remained from last year’s budget of Lutsk community. Of these, UAH 194K are planned to be transferred to the support of the Armed Forces. Thus, the amount of funds from the budget for the support of the Armed Forces for this year is UAH 500 mln. UAH 30 mln will be sent to the veterans’ hub. UAH 20 mln was allocated earlier. Thus, the amount of funds from the budget for the veteran hub will amount to UAH 50 mln. UAH 40 mln will be used to repair shelters.

Zakarpattia oblast

At the Tisa international checkpoint heads of Zakarpattia met the Hungarian delegation led by Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Levente Modyor, Parliamentary State Secretary.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The Center of Excellence for Rehabilitation Specialists was created on the basis of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital. During the Christmas and New Year holidays, children and young people from Yavoriv region raised funds for the military. This year’s nativity scene became a special project for the community. After all, the result exceeded their expectations – the carolers managed to collect over UAH 200K, for which they purchased 11 FPV drones for the Armed Forces.

Rivne oblast

In the oblast, seized and confiscated by court decisions will be sent to the needs of the military, namely, 357 logs of wood, 200 liters of diesel fuel, a chainsaw, 340 packs of tobacco products, computer equipment, a machine gun and even a grenade launcher. Part of the specified property, in particular, was sent to the military, which is engaged in the fortification of the northern border.

Ternopil oblast

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received about $73.7 bln from international partners. Thanks to the budgetary support of donors since the beginning of the full-scale war, the government was able to ensure stable state governance in Ukraine and fully finance social and humanitarian expenditures of the state budget. At the same time, the need for external financing in 2024 is over $37 bln.

The Quantum-Systems German drone manufacturer donates 100 Trinity drones in various configurations to Ukraine. The free supply of these drones was agreed upon in September 2023. Also, the training of operators, which was also conducted by the manufacturer, was to be completed in January. The company works closely with Ukraine, and in addition to 100 Trinity drones that will be donated to Ukraine, it also supplies hundreds of Vector UAVs on behalf of the German government.

Greece will send to Ukraine obsolete weapons systems that are not used in their army. The content of the aid package is not disclosed.

Oleksii Kuleba, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Ukrainian and Belgian companies signed six documents on the beginning of cooperation in the defense industry. During a special round table with the participation of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, and development partners, the launch of the Community-led Inclusive Recovery initiative took place. The project of young American urbanists Oksana Markarova, Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, promised to pass it on to the Mayor Bucha and the Americans who are helping its reconstruction, in particular, the Howard Buffett Foundation.
