The enemy launched 1 missile and 28 air strikes. Besides, russian occupiers carried out 27 airstrikes against civilian infrastructure using the Shahed-136 UAV. All these drones were shot down.
There is still a threat of further air and missile strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine.
The enemy, suffering great losses, continues to focus on conducting offensive actions towards Bakhmut and tries to improve the tactical position towards Kupiansk and Avdiivka.
The situation has not changed significantly towards Volyn, Polissa, Siversk and Sloboda. There are no signs of forming enemy offensive groups.
Towards Siversk and Sloboda, Yeline, Chernihiv oblast, Maiske, Sumy oblast, as well as Strilecha, Starytsia, Vovchansk and Kamianka in Kharkiv oblast were shelled.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy fired mortars and rocket artillery at Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Lyman Pershyi, Vilshana, Kupiansk, Orlianka, Kotliarivka of Kharkiv oblast, and Andriivka and Stelmakhivka of Luhansk oblast.
Towards Lyman, Makiivka, Chervonopopivka and Dibrova in Luhansk oblast, as well as Terny in Donetsk oblast, came under enemy fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy inflicted fire damage on Novopil, Donetsk oblast; Olhivske, Huliaipole, Dorozhnianka, Huliaipilske, Charivne, Novodanylivka, Orihiv, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, Kamianske and Plavni, Zaporizhzhia oblast and Musiivka in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
Towards Kherson, the enemy continues shelling populated areas along the right bank of the Dnipro River. In particular, the civil infrastructure of Kherson, Antonivka, and Beryslav was damaged by artillery shelling. There are wounded among the civilian population.
On December 31, up to 10 units of enemy military equipment of various types were destroyed and damaged in Makiivka, Donetsk oblast. The losses of personnel of the occupiers are being specified.
russian invaders continue to commit illegal actions against local residents in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast. The occupiers collect information about persons engaged in business activities and seize their vehicles and property.
Ukrainian aviation made 10 strikes on enemy buildups and 5 strikes on the positions of its anti-aircraft missile systems.
The Command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that on the night of January 1-2, russia attacked Ukraine. As a result of the combat operation of the air defense of the Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, all 39 strike UAVs were destroyed. In addition, the sky defenders destroyed two Orlan-10 UAVs and a Kh-59 guided aircraft missile .
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi informs that the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed more than 100 K russian invaders. He also noted that during 2022 40 % of the territories occupied during a full-scale invasion were liberated, and almost 42 K Russian explosive objects destroyed.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russians shelled at least 11 settlements.
Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that after the latest shelling in Kharkiv, heat supply has been fully restored. The situation with electricity supply is stable. In the first 2 days of the new year, there were no scheduled blackouts in the region.
Yesterday russian invaders continued shelling the border areas of Kharkiv oblast and settlements close to the contact line in Chuhuiv and Kupiansk districts.
Andriivka, Kotliarivka, Kucherivka, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Lyman Pershyi, Novomlynsk, Novomlynsk, Ohirtseve, Vilshana, Vovchansk and other settlements were under attack.
In Kupiansk 5 private buildings and infrastructure were damaged by enemy shelling. A 77-year-old woman was injured as a result of shelling. She was provided with medical aid on the spot.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that enemy military equipment was destroyed and damaged in Makiivka on December 31, but the enemy losses are being specified.
Since the beginning of the day, russian troops attacked 224 times near Bakhmut with tanks, various types of rocket and barrel artillery. Ukrainian troops destroyed ammunition depots in Avdiivka and Lyman.
At night russians continued shelling the entire frontline.
Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar and the outskirts were under attack. Moreover, Bohoiavlenka, Prechystivka and Vodiane were targeted.
Towards Donetsk, there were periodic attacks on Marinka and the outskirts of the Ocheretyne community. At night there were isolated attacks on the old part of Avdiivka and in the morning the city was shelled with Hrad MRLs.
Towards Horlivka, the Kostiantynivka community suffered the most – a building in Ivanopillia and a building in Oleksandro-Shultyne were damaged.
Towards Lysychansk, there were about 30 attacks on Terny, Torske and Zarichne of the Lyman community – without casualties.

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that yesterday russians injured one civilian in Bakhmut. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia in Ukraine 1285 people have been killed and 2804 people injured in Donetsk oblast.
Luhansk oblast
Yesterday, Defence Forces units repelled enemy attacks in Bilohorivka and Stelmakhivka. However, all these attempts end in the same way – the invaders suffer heavy losses from our artillery and infantry and retreat.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy targeted Miasozharivka, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka. Towards Lyman, russian shelled Chervonopopivka, Dibrova, Nevske, Novoiehorivka and Ploshchanka.
Referring to the press service of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, on January 1, there was an explosion in a warehouse with ammunition of russian invaders in Svatove.
Based on the information provided by the Luhansk RMA, 250 injured russians were brought to Pervomaisk. Food prices in Rubizhne and Sievierodonetsk are twice as high as in Luhansk. In three months russians have allocated more than RUB 350 million for the examination of Ukrainian children for their further deportation.
According to the AFU StratCom, Ukrainian troops defeated a russian armoured group near Ploshchanka towards Svatove, which decided to hide in the landing.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Kyiv RMA reported that the aggressor state attacked Kyiv oblast with drones at night. As a result of the attack, the object of critical infrastructure, houses and commercial buildings were damaged.
Consequences of night shelling are being liquidated. There were 11 damaged private houses in Fastiv and Obukhiv regions. The appropriate commissions are working on the spot and recording the destruction in order to start repair work as soon as possible.
Head of the Kyiv RMA Oleksii Kuleba said that despite shelling and drone attacks, Kyiv oblast met the New Year without emergency power outages.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko said that 22 aerial targets were shot down over the capital city during the air alert. As a result of the night shelling, energy infrastructure facilities were damaged. Emergency power outages continue.
The KCMA reported that UAV debris damaged balconies and windows in a high-rise building in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv, and the injured 19-year-old man was hospitalized.
One of the victims of the russian missile attack on Kyiv on December 31 died. This is a 46-year-old man who was in intensive care in a serious condition.
In the buildings of the Taras Shevchenko National University on the National Complex “Expocenter of Ukraine”, the liquidation of consequences of a missile attack launched a few hours before the New Year is underway. 10 institutes and faculties, as well as student dormitories, were damaged. According to preliminary estimates, the damage to the buildings will exceed the amount of damage caused by the russian attacks on university buildings in the fall.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that the police completed the pre-trial investigation of a murder of a civilian during the temporary occupation of Hostomel. The man was shot for refusing to unload enemy ammunition.
The Regional Emergency Service reported that a preventive raid regarding the safe use of alternative energy sources will take place in Kyiv oblast. Rescuers will inform the population about the rules for using generators, boilers, heaters, stoves, gas cylinders and provide professional advice.
BBC News reported that the main Christmas tree of Ukraine, which, despite the russian invasion, was installed in Kyiv on Sofia Square, was included in the ranking of the best Christmas trees in the world.

Zhytomyr oblast
Nearly 70K internally displaced persons celebrated the New Year Day in Zhytomyr oblast. According to the RMA, the largest number of displaced persons who found shelter in the oblast are from Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts.
The Zhytomyr RMA reported that almost 550 people visited Invincibility Centres in the oblast on the first day of 2023. They are open 24 hours a day and ready to receive hundreds of Ukrainians who need help.
Head of the Zhytomyr RMA Vitalii Bunechko said that most of the social institutions of the oblast are equipped with generators and Starlink terminals. This is 90% of the most important social infrastructure, in particular, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, boarding schools, boiler houses and health centers. The generators were purchased both with local self-government funds and thanks to international partners.
Sumy oblast
Head of the Sumy RMA Dmytro Zhivytskyi announced that the enemy made 114 strikes on the territory of Sumy oblast during the first day of the new year. Five communities came under shelling: Esman, Hlukhiv, Shalyhine, Krasnopillia, and Bilopillia. They were shelled from mortars, rocket launchers, and barrel artillery.
Mayor of Bilopillia Yurii Zarko announced that the wooden church of St. Barbara, which is an architectural monument, was damaged in the village of Iskriskivshchyna of the Bilopillia community due the shelling. A monument to defenders, a cultural center and an administrative building were also damaged.

After 10pm, the russian military shelled the Myropillia community. There were 8 artillery strikes. Around 11pm, the enemy made 5 mortar strikes on the Krasnopillia community.
The Trostyanets primary medical care center reported that a children’s outpatient clinic was rebuilt and medical equipment purchased. The outpatient clinic will work thanks to the support of the international humanitarian organization MEDAIR.
Teachers and students of a Sumy school created a calendar for 2023: its pages feature photos of elementary school students wearing Ukrainian headscarves. The calendar costs UAH 350: the collected money will go to the treatment of a wounded soldier, the father of one of the students. The rest of the funds will be spent on sewing thermal clothing for defenders.
The Sumy Regional Council reported that the regional emergency center received 9 ambulances. The cars arrived as part of the UNITED-24 program.
A torch run was held in Sumy in honor of Stepan Bandera’s birthday on January 1. 19 athletes ran 3 km around Lake Cheh with torches in their hands. Thus, the tradition of the torch march was observed.
Chernihiv oblast
The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that the enemy attacked the village of Leonivka in the Semenivka community with 17 mines.
Today, the russian military continued shelling the border of Chernihiv oblast. During the day, the enemy shelled the village of Yeline in the Snovsk community. There were 16 hits, presumably from SPHs. A little later, another village of the same region – Lypivka – came under the shelling of the occupiers. There were 6 hits, presumably from the mortar.
The Nizhyn city hospital received a compact and powerful ECO FLOW DELTA electric generator from Czech benefactors. Medics, employees of a logistics company, and mountain rescuers took part in providing assistance. The project was initiated by a native of the city of Nizhyn, who currently works as a doctor in Karlovy Vary and heads one of the medical firms.
The Sosnytsia community in Chernihiv oblast received aid in the form of rehabilitation equipment. Beds, walkers, wheelchairs, elevators, special chairs were supplied to the medical institution as part of the EU Strong Regions Program, which is financed by the European Union and the German government.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast
At night, the Air Defense Forces shot down 3 Shaheds and one high-precision Kh-59MK2 missile aimed at a critical energy infrastructure facility. Once again, the occupiers terrorized the residents of Nikopol and Kamianske regions. In Nikopol, an economic object was damaged due to artillery shelling. They also hit Manhanets. A fire broke out on the territory of a private enterprise from the wreckage of a downed UAV in the Verkhivtseve community of the Kamianske region.
Vinnytsia oblast
For several months, the members of the Caramel Gang have been selling sweets and candles and donating everything earned to help the Armed Forces. The volunteer children from Zhmerinka, managed to collect almost UAH 30K. This was reported by volunteer Anna, who helps boys and girls contact the military and process their requests.
Vinnytsia entered the pilot project of the Ministry of Health regarding free implants for osteosynthesis for Ukrainians affected by the war.
Poltava oblast
Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Regional State Administration, informed that the anti-aircraft defense system had successfully operated in the region.

These are 2,880 backpacks with stationery for internally displaced children, students who study in full-time and mixed forms of education, and students from socially vulnerable categories of children. Each backpack contains notebooks, pencils, pens, a water bottle, etc.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
The situation towards Zaporizhzhia has not undergone significant changes over the past day. The enemy concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied borders.
On January 1, the occupiers shelled Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Olhivske, Temyrivka, Novodanylivka, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Dorozhnianka, Bilohiria, Charivne, Poltavka, Mala Tokmachka, Huliaipilske, Mali Shcherbaky, Plavni, Kamianske, and Stepove. The police received 4 reports about the destruction of houses (apartments) and infrastructure objects as a result of shelling by russian military personnel.
The General Staff reported that on December 31 Ukrainian army damaged enemy manpower and equipment buildups near Tarasivka, Basan, Polohy, Berdiansk, Tokmak. Enemy losses amounted to more than 175 wounded servicemen, 12 units of weapons and military equipment. Also, an enemy’s ammunition depot was destroyed.
Mykolaiv oblast
As reported by the South Air Command, on the night of January 1-2, russian occupation forces again attacked the south of the country with Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. Ukrainian defenders destroyed 7 enemy drones in Mykolaiv oblast. According to the Mykolaiv RMA, no shelling was recorded in Mykolayiv oblast.
On January 2, all water supply pumping stations in Mykolaiv stopped working due to the problems with the electricity supply. As of 3:30pm, Mykolaivvodokanal specialists began filling tanks with water. They promise to restore water supply to houses by 03:30 on January 3.
Odesa oblast
As of January 2, 2023, up to 7 enemy ships are on combat duty in the Black Sea, 1 enemy ship is on duty in the Sea of Azov. There are 9 enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, 5 of them are carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo of 72 missiles.
Kherson oblast
This morning, the russians shelled the city market in Beryslav. Presumably, the enemy attacked the city with the tank firing from the temporarily occupied Kakhovka. There are about 5 wounded.
Yesterday, on January 1, the russian occupiers shelled Kherson oblast 71 times. The russian army attacked Kherson city 30 times. Enemy shells hit power lines, a regional children’s hospital, a swimming pool, private and apartment buildings. As a result of enemy attacks, 1 person was killed, and 4 more injured.
The police opened 24 criminal proceedings over the past two days on the facts of war crimes committed by russian servicemen in Kherson oblast. It was established that three residents were killed as a result of russian military shelling of the settlement Kozatske. The police also established the fact of civilians being killed by the russian military in the settlements of Vesele, Nova Kuban, Chkalove, Davydiv Brid, Myroliubivka. The police continue to receive reports of looting by the russian military.
As of January 2, 474 people are in russian captivity. This was reported by the press secretary of the Kherson regional prosecutor’s office Anastasia Vesilovska. In total, the occupiers have abducted 1,100 people in Kherson oblast since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia. Among the abducted and missing residents of the oblast are city leaders, village heads, heads of village councils and their deputies, village elders, 21 deputies of regional and local councils, 76 law enforcement officers, four clergymen and others.
As of January 2, russian shelling damaged 896 objects in the Kherson community, specifically, 771 residential buildings, 44 educational institutions, and 34 infrastructure facilities. 8 crews work in the city to repair windows damaged by shelling. In total, 120 windows were covered up with film and OSB plates.
Pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service have examined 991.8 hectares of territory in the de-occupied Kherson oblast, and neutralized 11,893 explosive objects. Demining works began from the first days of de-occupation of the right-bank Kherson oblast. Rescuers examined almost 340 km of roads, 128 objects, 325.2 km of power lines, 26 km of gas pipelines, 717 households and 60 km of railway tracks. Demining of the liberated territory continues.
Two mobile medical centers were delivered to the health care facility in Kherson. They were handed over by the non-governmental public organization STEP-IN. One of the centers is designed for childbirth, the other is equipped with everything necessary to provide medical assistance for acute injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

Volyn oblast
The Lutsk City Council purchased the necessary equipment for the Lutsk division of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to help rescuers during martial law. According to Mayor Ihor Polishchuk, nearly UAH 1 million was allocated for the purchase.
To support communities and increase their ability to respond to emergency situations, the USAID HOVERLAh project sent 250 large tents to 25 partner communities in Volyn, Lviv, and Poltava oblasts. They can be used to arrange heating centres in communities.
Zakarpattia oblast
Senior lieutenant of the Zakarpattia police, Vasyl Drohomyretskyi, was posthumously awarded with the III degree For Courage Order. He fell a few days after his 28th birthday in the battle for freedom of his people.
In Mukachevo, a charity Christmas art exhibition was opened. Part of the funds collected from the sale of paintings is donated to the 105th battalion of the 63rd mechanized brigade.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
As part of another exchange of prisoners, two servicemen from the 10th separate mountain assault brigade were released. Soldiers Mykola Voloshyn and Ihor Yemchuk returned home. Now the fighters are undergoing a full medical examination, and in the future rehabilitation.
The RMA reported that since the war began, 14 people from the Carpathians have returned home.

Students of Carpathian higher education institutions who take or have participated in hostilities were given a scholarship from heads of the RMA and the Regional Council. Head of the RMA Svitlana Onyshchuk and Head of the Regional Council Oleksandr Sych signed a joint order in this regard.
Lviv oblast
According to the information of the Department of Emergency Situations, Civil Protection and Territorial Defense of the Lviv City Council, a report was received about the mining of the premises of the City Hall. City Hall employees were evacuated. Relevant services arrived at the scene. No explosive devices were found.
Since November, the Program of Partial Compensation for purchasing of generators to meet needs of co-owners of apartment buildings of the Lviv urban territorial community in 2022-2023 has been in effect in Lviv. 27 residential buildings received compensation in the amount of UAH 652.3K.
109 entrepreneurs have received financial assistance from the city to purchase electric generators, which is 50% of the cost (but not over UAH 80K) in the total amount of UAH 3.6 million.
The first space for Ukrainian youth in Poland was opened in Rzeszow. This is an initiative of the Youth Council at the Lviv RMA and the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv RMA.

During the 312 days of the war, 322 air raid alarms sounded in Rivne oblast. There were a total of 15 alarms in December, the longest lasting 3 hours 42 minutes, the shortest alarm – 17 minutes, the maximum number of days without alarms – 6 days (the ‘silent mode’ lasted from December 7 (04:00) to December 13 (14:42) ).

Ternopil oblast
Students of the all-university volunteer movement Misericordia organized a meeting of school students with soldiers from the Azov regiment. Khmelnytskyi oblast
