It has been the 695 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

During the day of January 19, there were 87x combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 1x missile and 16x air strikes, carried out 43x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Around 15x settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Liskivshchyna, Karpovychi, Hrem’yach, Khrinivka, Dibrova (Chernihiv oblast), Zapsillya (Sumy oblast), Kozacha Lopan’, Vovchans’k, Vovchans’ki Khutory, Budarky (Kharkiv oblast).

Kup’yans’k axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 6x assaults in the vicinities of Syn’kivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast), where the occupies made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Syn’kivka, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 9x assaults near Terny, (Donetsk oblast), and 15x attacks in the areas of Serebryans’ke forestry, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast). In that area, the enemy made failed attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 15x settlements, including Nevs’ke (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Tors’ke, Spirne, Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3x attacks in the vicinities of Andriivka and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. Around 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 14x enemy attacks near Avdiivka, and 17x more attacks south of Tonen’ke, Pervomais’ke and Nevel’s’ke (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the occupiers, with air support, made unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy launched an air strike near Orlivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 15x settlements, including Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sjeverne (Donetsk oblast).

Mar’inka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Mar’inka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the adversary, with air support, made 6x failed attempts to improve its tactical situation. The settlements of Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Shakhtars’ke axis: the adversary conducted no offensives. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Urozhaine, Staromaiors’ke (Donetsk oblast).

Zaporizhzhia axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2x assaults west of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast), where the enemy made attempts to regain lost ground. More than 20x settlements, including Malynivka, Chervone, Bilohir’ya, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, P’yatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Odesa operational-strategic group, Kherson axis: the adversary fired artillery at the city of Kherson, the vicinities of the settlements of Antonivka, Berehove (Kherson oblast), as well as Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).

The occupiers do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 9x unsuccessful assaults on positions of Ukrainian troops.

During the day of January 19, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 1x concentration of troops of the occupiers.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 2x artillery systems of the russian invaders.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Volodymyr Fito, Head of the public relations service of the Ground Forces Command, reported that 13 russian tanks and 14 infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed towards Lyman-Kupiansk. 

41 enemy attacks were repelled. The entire frontline from Kupiansk to Bakhmut remains active.

The enemy launched 21 airstrikes using support of helicopters, bombers and attack aircraft. They used 30 kamikaze drones.

There was a large number of artillery attacks, specifically, 786.

Ukrainian defenders managed to destroy 251 invaders and 78 pieces of military equipment. 

Among them are 13 tanks, 14 infantry fighting vehicles, three MT-LBs and three APCs-82.

Kharkiv oblast

Russians intensified attacks towards Kupiansk. The General Staff reported 18 repelled russian attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaivka and Berestove. Vovchansk, Mykolaivka, Holubivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, and Kryvyi Rih were hit by airstrikes.

The enemy launched artillery and mortar attacks at 20 settlements of Kharkiv oblast, including: Stohnii, Udy of Bohodukhiv region, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Nesterne of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Masiutivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove of Kupiansk region. 

The enemy launched an airstrike near Vovchansk, Mykolaivka of Chuhuiv region, Holubivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka of Kupiansk region. 

Yesterday around 4:30 pm a 53-year-old man exploded on an unknown explosive device in Donets village, Izium region. The victim was killed. 

At about 8:30 am the enemy attacked Kupiansk. The type of weapon used was a Pion self-propelled artillery system. As a result of the attack, a 57-year-old woman was killed, two men aged 56 and 62 injured. The victims were hospitalised in moderate condition. An apartment building was damaged. 

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 18 enemy attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaivka, Berestove of Kupiansk region.

As a result of hostilities, 72 customers in Vesele village, Kharkiv region, were cut off from electricity. The total number of de-energised customers in the region is 15,896 in 64 settlements of Izium, Kupiansk, Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv and Chuhuiv regions. Power supply is being restored. 

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 10.4 hectares of mines and destroyed 189 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

 For the first time in Ukraine, a mobile pharmacy has been launched in Kharkiv oblast. The project was launched in Prudianka village, Kharkiv region. Residents of more than 80 settlements in the region, where russians destroyed stationary pharmacies, can buy the necessary medicines.

Donetsk oblast

At 3 am russian troops launched a missile at Myrnohrad and as a result, houses, an administrative building, a shop and a power line were damaged.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, in total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 13 times. Four settlements were shelled: Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Chasiv Yar cities and Novoselivka Persha village. 7 residential buildings and a power line were damaged. 86 people, including 15 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Towards Pokrovsk, Avdiivka suffered 7 airstrikes. Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka and Heorhiivka of Marinka community was under artillery attack. Private houses were damaged in Halytsynivka of Novohrodivka community. An administrative building, a club, a former school and 3 private houses were damaged in Ivanivka of Hrodivka community. In the middle of the night, eussians attacked Myrnohrad, damaging 3 two-storey buildings, an administrative building and an infrastructure facility.

Towards Kramatorsk, a house in Dyliivka and an infrastructure facility in Markove of Kostiantynivka community were damaged.

Towards Bakhmut, a house was destroyed in Pereizne of Zvanivka community. Rozdolivka and Minkivka of Soledar community were shelled. In Chasiv Yar community, 5 private houses and an industrial building were damaged. In Siversk, 4 houses were destroyed and 13 others damaged.

Yurii Fedorenko, Commander of the Achilles company, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine hold all positions towards Bakhmut. Recently, Ukrainian troops repelled russian assault on Ivanivske and destroyed russian equipment worth more than $10 million.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of the regional administration, informed that since the beginning of the week, 352 people, including 52 children, have been evacuated from the frontline in Donetsk oblast.

Petro Andriushchenko, Mariupol Mayor’s Councillor, said that russian invaders are setting up military training bases on the Azov Sea coast closer to Mariupol. Also, on 18 January, military trucks with ammunition were spotted moving through the city.

The film 20 Days in Mariupol by Kharkiv correspondent Mstyslav Chernov was nominated for two BAFTA awards, the British equivalent of the Oscars. 

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled eight russian attacks towards Serebrianka forest and near Bilohorivka. The enemy actively used aviation in ground attacks. The enemy fired mortars and artillery at Karmazynivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka.

In recent weeks, russians have suffered significant losses in Luhansk oblast but continue to put pressure on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which hold very difficult lines – Bilohorivka, Serebrianka forest, near Nevske, Torske and the border with Kharkiv oblast.

The invaders regularly carry out large-scale airstrikes on Bilohorivka. The situation is similar in Serebrianka forestry. The enemy uses a lot of guided aerial bombs. The invaders are constantly shelling Nevske and surrounding villages with artillery and mortars. Many people left the occupied frontline towns on the eve of winter because russians have not restored communications there. 

Residents of Krasnorichensk community received a week supply of bread. People in Hrekivka, Makiivka and Novoliubivka received food and sets of dishes. 

A law is in force according to which maternity capital payments will be made only to citizens of russian federation on the territory of the so-called “lpr”.  Since 2022, the invaders have distributed more than 23,000 certificates. However, it is not easy to exchange them for money. Over the years, only one family from “lpr” has been able to use these funds to improve their living conditions.

Proxies of putin will take part in the elections, which will take place in two months, as public observers. They will also conduct election campaigning throughout the occupied Luhansk oblast, using the established scheme to collect signatures for their candidate.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Naev said that the situation in the Northern operational zone remains under control. According to him, military groups with a total number of about 20 thousand people have been created on the territory of the russian federation. Enemy units are constantly conducting reconnaissance, shelling border areas, and actively expanding engineering and fortification equipment in the area. On the side of the border with Belarus, in addition to border guard units, about 1,800 members of the Belarusian armed forces are placed along the border.

Kyiv oblast

The first deputy mayor of Irpin Andrii Kravchuk said that a dormitory for 19 families who lost their homes during the invasion of the russian federation will soon be opened in Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka. According to him, the abandoned building is being turned into a socialization center for internally displaced persons. It will be a modern dormitory with comfortable smart apartments equipped with soundproofing, own kitchens and bathrooms.

Law enforcement officers identified six russian soldiers involved in the shooting of civilians trying to evacuate from the Kyiv oblast in March 2022. The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that the military of the russian federation will be tried for war crimes. On the order of their commander, russian soldiers opened fire on two civilian cars on the Zhytomyr highway, as a result of which three people died, including a 15-year-old girl.

The Head of the Darnytskyi RSA Mykola Kalashnyk said that with the help of German partners, 1,680 food kits were delivered to the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv for forced migrants with disabilities. According to him, the largest number of displaced persons lives in the district, compared to other districts of the capital – almost 70,000 displaced persons are officially registered there.

In Kyiv, five libraries were renamed, the names of which were associated with ideological figures of russia. Such a decision was made at the plenary session of the Kyiv City Council. Also, 29 objects were renamed in the capital as part of de-russification.

Internally displaced persons in Kyiv are asked to complete an anonymous online survey in order to better adapt to the city. As reported by the KCSA, the results of the survey will help the capital authorities to understand the main problems faced by the displaced people and how effective the available support programs are.

The photo project “Pain” about the heroism and resilience of Ukrainian border guards was presented in the capital. The photo project tells about the border guards of the separate checkpoint “Kyiv”, who, despite the loss of loved ones, their own experiences, being surrounded and captured, did not break down. The photos show the stories of 9 participants. The presentation took place in Ukrinform.

Zhytomyr oblast

The Head of the rehabilitation department of the Ovruch hospital, Valentin Lyutko, reported that a mobile rehabilitation module was officially launched in the city of Ovruch. The doctors of the Ovruch hospital will conduct free classes there on physical and psychological rehabilitation of military and civilians who suffered as a result of russian aggression.

The Head of rehabilitation and socialization center for veterans “ThoseWhoPassedThroughTheFire”, reserve psychologist Serhii Tvardovskyi reported that the “Friends of Veterans” fan club has started in Zhytomyr, the members of which will help veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war to adapt to a peaceful life.

Zhytomyr Regional Council reported that on the eve of the Day of commemoration of the defenders of the Donetsk airport in Zhytomyr, near the monument “Defenders of Ukraine in the war with the russian aggressor”, the memory of the fallen soldiers who defended the Donetsk airport was commemorated. They recalled that for eight months, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, volunteers and medics resisted the russian military. On January 20, 2015, 51 of its defenders died during the defense of the airport.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that during the past day, the russians carried out 2 shellings of the border areas of the oblast – a total of 8 explosions were recorded. The russians dropped an explosive object from an unmanned aerial vehicle on the territory of the Bilopillia community, they also shelled the Velyka Pysarivka community with an SPG-9.

At night, the enemy fired 4 shots, 9 explosions from mortars were recorded. Yunakivka (2 explosions), Esman (3 explosions) and Seredina-Buda (4 explosions) communities were shelled.

The reconstruction of the polyclinic in Trostyanetsis ongoing. The building was destroyed by two russian strikes – offices on two floors of the building, equipment, interior partitions and floor slabs were destroyed, windows were broken,. About 400 patients visit the medical institution every day, specialized care is provided to both adults and children.

In the Romny community, the issue of restoring school No. 8, which was destroyed by the russian “Shahed” drone in August 2023, is being resolved. As the head of the Romny RMA Oleg Vashchenko reported, the Korean company “ITOKHI” offered to finance the reconstruction of the destroyed school. The reconstruction time is about 7 months. Discussions are currently ongoing in the community.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv border detachment reported that russian troops shelled the border community of Snovsk during the past day, 9 mortar hits were recorded in the direction of the village of Klyusy.

Vyacheslav Chaus, the Head of Chernihiv RMA announced that last year, 17 residents of the oblast bordering with russia were killed as a result of russian shelling, and another 30 were injured. This year, the russians fired 80 times on the border of the oblast, a total of 437 explosions were recorded. According to him, 1,500 residents remain in the most dangerous 5-kilometer zone near the russian border. Another fifteen thousand left for safer regions.

Chernihiv RMA reported that 5 border communities – Koryukivka, Horodnya, Snovsk, Semenivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi – signed an agreement on the creation of a communal enterprise, which will help to quickly overcome the consequences of emergency situations, in particular shelling.

Chernihiv RMA reported that 80% of educational institutions in the oblast that were damaged as a result of russian aggression have already been restored. These are more than 140 educational institutions. About 20-25 institutions are in the process of restoration or need it.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that yesterday in the evening the enemy shelled Nikopol with artillery and struck at Marhanets closer to midnight. They launched more than half a dozen shells. The enemy attacked Nikopol region 3 times during the day. They launched kamikaze drone at Nikopol and shelled Marhanets community twice with artillery.

Vinnytsia oblast

Artist Dmytro Samoshevskyi organized a charity exhibition and auction of his paintings in Tulchyn, Vinnytsia region. During the event the artist managed to raise UAH 70 K. He will donate part of the money to the defenders to purchase a drone.

Poltava oblast

Philip Pronin, Head of the RMA reported that another humanitarian aid was sent by Poltava regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. They delivered 10 generators to the regional communities. The 60 kW equipment will be distributed among hospitals, educational institutions and critical infrastructure facilities.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Cherkasy RMA resilience building services are being provided to residents of Uman’ and IDPs. The support program includes a list of different activities: individual consultations with a psychologist, group trainings, art therapy classes, first aid courses.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On January 18, the enemy launched 85 attacks on 20 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Occupiers targeted Orikhiv and Robotne with 8 air-to-surface missiles, conducted 5 MLRS shellings on Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novoivanivka, as well as attacked Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novodarivka, Chervone, Malynivka, Levadne, Robotyne, and Hirke with 16 drones. Artillery shelling included 56 attacks at Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Bilohiria, Shcherbaky, Temyrivka, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, Piatyhatky, Lobkove, and other cities and villages along the front line. There were 7 reports of residential buildings being damaged, with no casualties.

Ukrainian forces repelled 5 russian attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. It was reported in the daily summary from the General Staff.

Mykolaiv oblast

In the morning on January 18, the russian army attacked Kutsurub community using FPV drones. There were no casualties. Later that day, at 23:18 and during the night at 00:07, the russian army executed artillery shelling at the settlement in Kutsurub community. No casualties were reported. On January 18, at 10:11, the enemy shelled the waters of Ochakiv community, without casualties. During the night of January 19, at 01:30, russians carried out artillery shelling on the city of Ochakiv. This information was provided by Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

On January 18, a cardmaking master class titled “Save Me, Angel” took place at the Mykolaiv Regional Art Museum named after V.V. Vereshchahin. Unfortunately, the impact of the ongoing war affected the attendance. Most of those willing to participate in this event were unable to reach the museum due to constant air alarms.

Odesa oblast

State inspectors estimated the damage caused by shelling at the 16-story residential building on Serednia Street in Odesa on December 30, 2023 at 96.4 thousand hryvnias. A fire broke out, covering an area of 400 square meters, resulting in 31.9 tons of carbon entering the atmosphere. This estimated amount of damage will be included in the Unified Register of Environmental Damage Caused by Armed Aggression, as reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.

Veterans will have an opportunity to receive higher education for free, and the state guarantees compensation to their employers for labor costs. There are two programs to incentivize employers to hire veterans. Under the first program, up to 50% compensation for the military’s salary is provided for 6 months. The second program covers expenses related to arranging a workplace for a person with disabilities of the I or II group. For the II group, the compensation amount is up to 70K hryvnias, and for the I group, up to 160K hryvnias. The employment center also conducts professional training and issues special vouchers. With this document, individuals can choose an educational institution to improve their qualifications, obtain a second or third higher education. This was announced on January 19 by Mykyta Koreniev, the director of Odesa Regional Employment Center.

Kherson oblast

It is reported that russians shelled Berehove in Bilozerka community. 57-year-old local resident was injured as a result of a direct hit on a residential building. The victim suffered shrapnel wounds to the hand and back.

Around 3:00 PM, russian military shelled Dniprovskyi district in Kherson. A 50-year-old woman was killed in her own apartment. Also, a 16-year-old boy was injured. Emergency team from the water utility was shelled in the suburbs of Kherson. The utility repair vehicle was damaged. According to preliminary data, there were no injuries among the workers.

Yesterday, the enemy executed 67 shelling attacks, firing 413 shells from mortars, artillery, MLRS, tanks, and UAVs. The city of Kherson was shelled with 11 shells. 3 people were injured due to russian aggression.

The enemy used 3 FPV drones and having dropped 10 shrapnel shells on the settlements of Poniativka, Beryslav, Sablukivka, Kizomys, Tyahynka in Kherson oblast, and Dmytrivka in Mykolaiv blast. A private car was damaged.

The enemy fired artillery at Kherson for three times. Antonivka, Chornobaivka, Sadove, Zmiivka, Tiahynka, Ivanivka in Kherson oblast, and Ochakiv in Mykolaiv oblast were shelled. About a dozen private houses, a gas pipeline, a car, and a power cable for the boiler room were damaged. Dozens of apartment buildings and private houses were left without heating.

Counter-battery combat continues in the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces. The enemy, possibly reinforcing reserves, intensified and carried out 11 unsuccessful assaults yesterday. Having suffered losses, they withdrew to their original positions.

The military continue their methodical combat work, delivering fire strikes at the enemy’s locations, firing positions, and rear areas. Despite challenging weather conditions, it was possible to scout and confirm the liquidation of 9 occupiers and 1 boat. The rest of the results are being reconned.

Today, the utility vehicle fleet of Chornobaivka community was replenished with another excavator-loader. It will be used for emergency and restoration work. This assistance became possible thanks to cooperation with the organization “Kimonix International Inc.” as part of the project “Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine,” funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Residents of Shlyakhove received 126 cubic meters of firewood. This assistance will provide warmth to 63 households. Solid fuel arrived thanks to the “East – SOS” Charitable Foundation. Firewood will continue to be delivered to the settlements in Beryslav region to meet the needs of all residents.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council informs that eight KBEPTYC AD G-6+ portable electronic countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles, a DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise quadcopter, 4 DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopters, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo quadcopters, equipment for aircraft (DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series Battery Kit) in the amount of 17 pieces, ALIENTECH DUO II DUO2458SSD 2.4G/5.8G kit for RCNI PRO remotes, RCNI PRO.SMART  antenna + 20m cable + adapter in the amount of 20 pieces were transferred for the needs of the military unit A7028. 

Zakarpattia oblast

The Regional Veterans Hospital discussed the fate of severely wounded soldiers who have lost their homes and families. Following the meeting, the parties decided to place some patients in a geriatric center and to identify those who urgently need specialized care in the near future.  

Natalia Husak, Head of the National Health Service of Ukraine, is on a working visit to Zakarpattia. The regional leadership held a joint briefing for media representatives and participated in a meeting with community leaders.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

SES experts visited educational and preschool institutions to conduct life safety lessons. The rescuer workers told the students how to behave in case of emergencies and described the procedure for evacuating the school premises. Detection of suspicious and unknown objects was also touched upon.

Lviv oblast

Lviv IT Cluster, in cooperation with Lviv Regional Military Administration, donated more than UAH 3 million worth of aid to the Western Air Command as part of the SKY project. This includes network and computer equipment and walkie-talkies. This equipment will help to link all means of defeating enemy air targets into a single system, and ensure rapid communication of air defense soldiers.

Soldiers of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine together with Lviv IT specialists have created a hardware and software system called Zvook that acoustically detects cruise missiles, helicopters, drones and enemy fighters at low and medium altitudes. It is based on machine learning technology that recognizes the engine sounds of enemy air targets.

Rzeszow Regional Development Agency has delivered generators, electric heaters, defibrillators, and most importantly, equipment for our military to Lviv oblast. The total value of the humanitarian aid is UAH 5.6 million.

A meeting with representatives of the international humanitarian organization SmartAID was held at the RMA. The organization supports Ukraine during the war by providing humanitarian aid, specifically medicines, hygiene items, power banks, and electric generators to schools, hospitals, and social institutions.

A modern classroom for conducting Defense of Ukraine classes was opened in Navariisk Lyceum of Pustomyty community. It is equipped with a variety of visual materials to help students understand how to help people and be prepared for the most difficult situations.

The RMA reports that serviceman Stepan Lutchyn was awarded the Golden Cross badge by Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

Rivne oblast

The Rivne Regional Museum of Local Lore hosted the exhibition AZOV. ANGELS OF MARIUPOL. It is dedicated to the memory of the Azov Regiment soldiers from all over Ukraine who died during the defense of Mariupol and Azovstal. The exhibition features 217 portraits of fallen heroes, including 3 natives of Rivne oblast.

The second group of first-aiders has started classes at Rivne Center for Vocational Education of the State Employment Service. The intensive 40-hour course program taught the students basic knowledge of the  first aid rules in case of emergencies, bleeding, abdominal pain, injuries, burns and loss of consciousness.

Ternopil oblast

In early January, Ternopil City Council announced a tender for the purchase of FPV quadcopters for the defense sector worth UAH 20mln. These funds will be used to purchase and transfer 1,250 drones to the military.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytsky City Council informs that 466 children from the occupied territories or areas of active hostilities were granted the status of a child victim of war or armed conflict.

Chernivtsi oblast

A meeting with Iryna Tuliakova, Head of the Coordination Center for the Development of Family Education and Child Care, was held at the RMA. They discussed the strategic directions and measures envisaged by the draft Strategy to ensure the right of every child in Ukraine to be brought up in a family environment.

A meeting with Kateryna Levchenko, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, was held at the RMA. They discussed the implementation of gender policy at the level of the oblast and Ukraine as a whole, European standards and the priority tasks that the Ukrainian government and society face today in terms of observing equal rights for men and women.

Educational institutions in the oblast have 1300 panic buttons and 2496 external and internal video surveillance cameras. This equipment makes it possible to monitor the security situation in kindergartens, general secondary and vocational education institutions, and universities in the oblast and, if necessary, quickly call law enforcement.

Bohdan Prodaniuk, a resident of Sokyriany community, was awarded the Cross of Military Honour badge by Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,  for his significant personal contribution to the development of the national security and defense sector and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, the soldier received the “For Merit” award from the Union of Veterans and Employees of Law Enforcement Agencies of Ukraine.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. They discussed preparations for the meeting to be held on January 29 in Uzhhorod.

The Treasury Department reports that the US imposes sanctions on 17 tankers for transporting russian oil. The shipping company Hennesea Holdings Limited, based in the United Arab Emirates, is the ultimate owner of the vessels that transport crude oil of russian origin at a price above $60 per barrel.

 

Seimas deputy Gunars Kutris, Chairman of the Commission on Citizenship, Migration and Social Cohesion, says that Latvia has begun the process of deporting almost 1K citizens of the russian federation.

Estonia deprived the Metropolitan of the moscow Church of the right to reside. He has to leave by February 6. “Estonia has decided to refuse to extend the residence permit to Metropolitan Yevgeny, or Valery Reshetnikov, because his public actions and statements support the aggressor and he has not changed his behaviour despite previous warnings,” said Indrek Aru, a representative of the Border and Migration Supervision Service.

Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of Estonia, says that its government plans to stop funding education in russian.

Poland has extended temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 2025. As noted by the Polish government, persons who have received a certificate of temporary protection from the Office for Foreigners valid until March 4, 2023, September 4, 2023 or March 4, 2024 do not need to apply for new documents. These certificates will be valid until March 4, 2025.

The film 20 Days in Mariupol was nominated for the British equivalent of the Oscar, BAFTA. It was selected in two categories – best documentary and best foreign language film. The eyewitness documentary by Mstyslav Chernov tells the story of the brutal siege of the Ukrainian port city by the russian criminal army from February to May 2022, which resulted in the deaths of more than 20 K people. 

The American company Match Group, which owns the Tinder dating app, has announced that it will leave the belarusian market in mid-February 2024. It is noted that starting from February 15, users from belarus will not be able to use the app’s services, log in to their accounts, make purchases in the app, renew paid subscriptions, and buy bonuses. Since June 2023, Tinder has been out of the russian market.
