It has been the 407th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy launched 4 missile and 7 air strikes, fired more than 10 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and civilian infrastructure. 

There is still a high threat of missile and air strikes remains high throughout Ukraine.

The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions. Over the course of a day, thanks to the courage of each soldier, more than 20 attacks were repelled. The most intense fighting continues in Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, the operational situation remained unchanged, and there are no signs of enemy offensive groups. 

The enemy continues to hold certain units in Kursk and Belgorod oblasts bordering Ukraine. 

During the day, the enemy fired at Leonivka in Chernihiv oblast, as well as at Veterynarne, Neskuchne, Ohirtseve, Tykhyne, Bochkove, Chuhunivka, Zarubynka, Starytsia and Kolodyazne in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, Topoli, Fiholivka, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Lyman Pershyi, Krokhmalne, Berestove in Kharkiv oblast and Novoselivske in Luhansk oblast came under enemy fire.

In the Liman sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Spirne. Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Terny, Spirne and Rozdolivka in Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions, trying to take full control of the city of Bakhmut, and fierce fighting continues. During the day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives against Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Bohdanivka. Defense forces repelled about 10 enemy attacks there.  The enemy shelling affected more than 15 settlements in the combat zone, including Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Diliivka and Shumy in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Avdiivka and Marinka, the enemy conducted offensives in the areas of Novokalynove, Sieverne, Pervomaiske and Marinka, but did not succeed. The fiercest fighting in this area continues in Marinka, where 13 enemy attacks were repelled. At the same time, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Marinka and Pobieda in Donetsk oblast were shelled.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions over the last day. Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk oblast were shelled.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the enemy continues to build up defensive lines and positions in terms of fortifications.  They shelled over 15 localities. Among them is Vremivka, Donetsk region; Gulyaypole, Zaliznychne, Gulyaypilske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as well as Kherson.

russian occupation forces continue to suffer huge losses in manpower, and local medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories are overcrowded. In one of the settlements of Simferopol region of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a tent city for wounded russian invaders was spotted. As of April 4 this year, about one hundred enemy soldiers are undergoing rehabilitation in the said field camp.

Aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 6 strikes on buildups of occupiers’ personnel and military equipment, and the units of rocket troops and artillery hit 2 buildups of enemy manpower, 2 fuel and lubricant depots and an enemy electronic warfare station.

The press service of Ukroboronprom reports that an agreement was signed on the production of 125-mm shells in Poland. According to the agreement, new production facilities will be located in Polish cities. Ukraine will provide its technologies and highly qualified specialists with relevant competencies and experience.

Serhii Cherevatyi, Spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that a russian Ka-52 Alligator helicopter was shot down in the east by Ukrainian defenders. The entire russian crew was killed, when the helicopter was shot down by a Polish man-portable air defense system (MANPADS).

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, informs that  2.5 Ukrainian prisoners held in temporarily occupied territories were taken to russia.


Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least 16 settlements were under russian attack.

A 65-year-old resident of Kucherivka was hospitalized with an injury as a result of shelling in Kupiansk region and in Kupiansk, rescuers spent two hours extinguishing a fire over an area of 100 square meters after a Russian artillery strike.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that in Vasylenkove village of Kupiansk region, a 57-year-old man was blown up on an unknown explosive object while burning grass in his own yard. He was hospitalized with explosive injuries.

In addition, a 56-year-old woman stepped on an explosive ordnance and was injured in a private household in Izium. Currently, doctors are providing all necessary assistance to the victim.

Residents and civilian infrastructure in Kupiansk, Kucherivka, Dvorichna, Udy, Veterynarne, Lypky, Kozacha Lopana and other settlements came under enemy fire over the past day.

As a result of shelling in Kupiansk, a private household was damaged and a fire broke out. In Kucherivka village, Kupiansk region, a 65-year-old civilian man was wounded and hospitalized. 

In Dovhenke village of Kupiansk region, 2 private houses were damaged by shelling.

At least 4 private houses were damaged in Bohuslavka village, Izium region, as a result of shelling from multiple rocket launchers.

Demining works are ongoing. The SES pyrotechnic units inspected more than 7 hectares of territory and defused 190 ordnance.

 Donetsk oblast

Vitalii Barabash, Head of the city military administration, reports that since the beginning of the day, russian troops have fired 14 times at Avdiivka. Four children remain in the city.

According to the city military administration, in Pokrovsk, wells are being drilled to provide residents with water. It is planned to create about 40 alternative sources of water supply in the community in about two months.

Serhii Cherevatyi, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, says that Ukrainian troops destroyed a T-72 tank, an amphibious assault vehicle, a Tulip self-propelled mortar and a K-52 helicopter of the russian army in the Lyman-Kupiansk sector yesterday. In five battles, Ukrainian troops eliminated 28 russian soldiers and wounded 62 others.

On April 5, russian forces shelled Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka with Uragan rocket launchers, killing 2 people and wounding 4.

Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar suffered an air strike, with no casualties.

Towards Donetsk, artillery shelling of Marinka and Krasnohorivka and sporadic shelling of Avdiivka took place over the day, with no casualties reported.

Towards Horlivka, 2 civilians were reported killed and 2 wounded in Bakhmut. A kindergarten, 2 private houses and 3 high-rise buildings were destroyed and damaged. In the Soledar community, 4 apartment buildings, 2 private houses and a shop in Nikiforivka were damaged, as well as 3 houses in Vasiukivka. The outskirts of Chasiv Yar and Toretsk communities are under fire.

Towards Lysychansk, a massive shelling of Zvanivka took place, damaging a school, a house of culture, a shop and more than 20 private houses. In Siversk, houses on two streets were damaged.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informs that the russian military killed 5 residents of Donetsk oblast: 2 in Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, 2 in Bakhmut and 1 in Serhiivka. Another 9 people were wounded.

Luhansk oblast

The occupiers continue active hostilities towards Lyman and Kupiansk. russians fired 399 times at Ukrainian military positions. There were 5 firefights in this area of the frontline. As a result, 28 occupiers were killed and 62 others wounded. A T-72 tank, a BMD, a Tulip self-propelled mortar and a K-52 helicopter were also destroyed there. The crew of this enemy helicopter was followed by another one, which was also shot down by our military, but it made it to its positions. 

The Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that over the past week, Ukrainian troops eliminated more than 150 russian occupiers in the area of Bilohorivka and Serebriany forestry, Luhansk oblast.

Towards Kupyansk, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka came under enemy fire yesterday. Towards Lyman, Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka were shelled.

Oleksii Smirnov, Acting Head of the Luhansk RMA says that the enemy is firing daily at settlements along the frontline. Now, thanks to the accuracy of Ukrainian artillery in the rear, the occupiers are concentrating their firepower only where there is an urgent need.

The Luhansk RMA reports that the russians were unsuccessful in their offensive near Nevske and in Serebryany forestry, people in Lysychansk will be given free transportation to get a Russian passport, and products from Iran have appeared in stores in Bilokurakyno region .

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Reconstruction of objects damaged due to russian aggression in Kyiv oblast is ongoing. As reported in Kyiv RMA, 11,449 objects have been completely or partially restored, among which the largest number are private and multi-storey buildings. There are 180 institutions of general secondary and preschool education, 95 medical institutions, and 65 health centers among them.

The KCSA reported that the first stress resistance center in Ukraine was opened in Kyiv. Its specialists will prevent stressful and traumatic conditions of citizens, provide psychological support to various social and professional groups of the population, in particular, demobilized military personnel and members of their families.

State awards of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine were presented to school bus drivers who heroically evacuated residents from Kyiv oblast and Chernihiv at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, carried humanitarian aid and medicines. 114 drivers received awards, including five awarded posthumously. During the occupation of the oblast, 669 evacuations were carried out and thousands of lives saved. Despite the constant shelling and minefields, more than 70 vehicles regularly went on the routes.

Volunteer Zhanna Kameneva, who since 2014 helped the military, boarding schools of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and saved people, received the Order of Courage III degree posthumously. The award was given to her husband, as the woman was killed during the occupation of Bucha – her car was shot by russian soldiers from armored personnel carriers on March 5, when she was trying to take two women and a 14-year-old girl out of the city. As reported by the Bucha City Council, after the liberation of the region, it was possible to find a woman’s burnt-out car, in which all four passengers died.

The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a lieutenant colonel and three russian servicemen who tortured civilians in Bucha and simulated their execution will appear before the court.

Tourism in Ukraine and Kyiv is currently experiencing the most difficult times. According to the KCSA, 98K foreign tourists visited Kyiv last year. This is about 10 times less than in the post-pandemic year of 2021, when more than 1 million foreigners came to the Ukrainian capital. In addition, 172K domestic tourists visited Kyiv last year against 2.1 million in 2021.

An exhibition of foreign postage stamps “Solidarity with Ukraine” was opened in the capital at the Main Post Office. The exhibition features postage stamps issued last year by postal operators of 15 countries of the world as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine.

The presentation of the first issue of the #Naspravdi_istoriya project, which will debunk historical pro-kremlin narratives, took place in Kyiv. The first issue of the project should be released on April 6 on the Ukrinform YouTube channel. The organizers of the program plan to release issues once a month.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, representatives of the art project With Shots and Paints handed over minesweeping equipment worth almost UAH 65 K to the servicemen of one of the units of the airborne assault troops. The equipment was purchased with funds from the sale of postcards with the image of Patron the dog. The author of the drawing is Yury Kamyshnyi from Zhytomyr.

One more parish of the UOC (MP) transferred to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Zhytomyr oblast. A meeting was held near the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in the city of Baranivka, where more than 1,200 people unanimously voted for the transition to the OCU.

Sumy oblast

The russian military shelled the Bilopillia community with mortars 6 times. As reported by Sumyoblenergo, power lines were damaged, repairs will begin immediately after obtaining permission from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service.

On April 5, the russians shelled 17 border communities: Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Khotyn, Hlukhiv, and Seredyno-Buda. As reported by the Sumy RMA, there were 229 hits from MLRS, mortars, artillery, grenade and rocket launchers. The premises of a local enterprise, a private house, 3 private residential buildings and a household gas distribution pipe were damaged due to shelling.

About 30K cubic meters of construction debris was created in the Bilopillia community due to russian shelling. Debris clearance and dismantling of damaged buildings are still ongoing. As Yuriy Zarko, Mayor of the city, informed, in the future construction waste will be processed with the help of a mobile grinding installation and used for road repair.

As of today, about 5 K different facilities have been destroyed in the oblast, one third of them – about 1,700 objects – completely restored. As reported by Sumy RMA, among the damaged structures are mostly private houses  (about 2,600). Their number continues to grow due to continuous shelling of the border communities of the oblast by the russian troops.

Sumy oblast received aid from the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. This is targeted free assistance for farmers who have up to 500 hectares of land. According to the program, each farm will receive two tons of seed material. They plan to sow almost 10 hectares of land.

Chernihiv oblast

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that the border of Semenivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi communities came under russian shelling. There were 39 hits from mortars and self-propelled guns in the settlements of Leonivka and Hremyach. The day before, the enemy carried out an air strike with two missiles along the border of the Novhorod-Siverskyi community.

A young defender, Kateryna Yushchenko, was killed due to the russian aerial bombardment on April 4 in Chernihiv oblast. She worked in the Lviv military hospital, and in 2018 she began serving under a contract in the army. The girl was serving in the military unit of Hlukhiv, where she was with her husband – a scout of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whom she met in the hospital during his treatment.

A Chernihiv sapper blew up while performing demining duties in Kharkiv oblast. As reported by the National Police, the explosion occurred during the inspection and demining of the territory of the village of Nova Husarivka of the Balaklia community. The injured rescuer was taken to hospital.

The Volunteer Hub was opened in Chernihiv. It is a place for generating ideas, sharing experiences and learning, where everyone can join the volunteer movement and participate in social projects. It was possible to turn an abandoned industrial zone into an equipped volunteer space thanks to a socially responsible business and caring masters of their own craft. The project is carried out by the public organization Active Society of Ukraine with the support of partners.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Council , the russian occupiers hit the region twice: they targeted the Marganets community and the city of Nikopol with heavy artillery. 

Paintings by 11-year-old Maksym Brovchenko were presented at the Dnipro Planetarium. The boy has autism. He moved from Berdyansk during the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​ The Vinnytsia City Council reported, another batch of aid was sent to Kherson from Vinnytsia. This is the first batch of 100 tanks needed for the normal operation of the utility sector of the de-occupied city. 

During the regional forum “Integration of displaced persons in Vinnytsia: challenges, solutions and the role of the Council of IDPs”, the director of the social policy department, Valentyna Voitkova said that the Vinnytsia community received almost 46,000 internally displaced persons, including 12,000 children.

Kirovohrad oblast

Egg decorator from Oleksandriia Iryna Mikhalevych brought to Kropyvnytskyi 12 Easter eggs from Kirovohrad Oblast. She presented them in the helmets of Ukrainian defenders, filled with wheat.

Prosecutor Olha Diachkova informed Since the full-scale invasion of russia, the district prosecutor’s office has registered 420 criminal proceedings on war crimes committed by the russian army in Kropyvnytskyi.  Two thirds of the applicants are internally displaced persons from Donetsk, Kherson, and Luhansk Oblast. They stated that physical, property, and moral damage was caused as a result of the armed aggression of the rf.

Poltava oblast

A charity concert by the cover band “Rewind” took place in Poltava, during which funds were collected for the needs of the Armed Forces, namely the Poltava 116th Battalion of the Military Police. UAH 22,600 were collected at the event.

Cherkasy oblast

In Cherkasy Oblast, a meeting was held with the president and representatives of the Canadian Red Cross, as well as the regional organization of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine.

According to Head of the Cherkasy State Administration Ihor Taburets, they handed over mobile medical brigades to provide assistance to residents of remote settlements and internally displaced persons.

Volodymyr Litvynov, the head of Beryslav RVA, reported that the benefactors helped evacuate families with children from Beryslav to Cherkasy oblast. They were met at the railway station of Smila, Cherkasy oblast, and provided with housing, food, and humanitarian aid.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the Zaporizhzhya RMA, this afternoon, russian occupation forces shelled Orikhiv and Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia oblast with aircraft and MLRS, the russians hit a five-storey building in the center of Orikhiv. It is preliminarily known that the strike was carried out with MLRS. In addition, an airstrike was carried out on the city, which damaged the residential sector. In Huliaipole, two missiles hit a civilian infrastructure facility, damaging nearby multi-storey buildings. Information about the victims is being clarified.

The invaders are placing air defense systems in the middle of residential areas in the occupied Melitopol and firing missiles over the heads of civilians. The fragments of these air defense systems hit roads and civilian houses.

Yurii Malashko, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration said that in Zaporizhzhia oblast, 245 people are being held captive by the occupiers. The occupiers are abducting people of different categories: employees of enterprises and institutions, managers, and lawyers. There are children among the hostages. It is not yet known under what circumstances the children were abducted. Forced passportization has also been intensified in the occupied territory of the oblast. People without russian passports cannot receive salaries or medical care.

 The russian occupiers cannot destroy the resistance in Zaporizhzhia oblast, so they are turning the occupied territories into a maximum security prison. They demand that residents always have their documents with them. They have tightened control over the observance of curfews. They threaten to apply ‘additional measures to identify terrorists’, i.e. another wave of arrests and tortures for civilians.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMA reported that on April 5, the enemy struck again in Mykolaiv oblast. The Ochakiv community was affected. 15 civilian objects were damaged. To eliminate the consequences of the russian fascist aggression, units of the State Emergency Service were engaged 31 times to identify ordnance, 70 of which were seized.

Residents of Mykolaiv are warned about cemeteries being mined and urged to be extremely cautious when visiting the graves of their relatives in the coming weeks.

As of April 6, 86% of the land in Mykolaiv oblast is under cultivation. According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, the situation with the sowing season is very good, and the only issues left to be resolved are logistics, as the ports of Mykolaiv oblast are still blocked.

Odesa oblast

The ‘South’ Operational Command reported, in Odesa oblast, the night of April 5-6 passed without air raid warnings and, fortunately, without any shelling. However, the likelihood of further missile and air strikes remains high. In particular, the enemy continues to maneuver in the Black Sea. As of yesterday evening, the russian naval grouping includes fourteen units. Out of six missile launchers, the russians left four (two underwater and two surface) on combat duty at sea, with a maximum possible volley of up to twenty-four Kalibr missiles.

Izmailteplocomunenergo received 120 K kilograms of salt for chemical treatment of water in the heating system. Technical assistance worth UAH 2.949,360 was provided by Tetra Tech ES, Inc, an American company that is implementing the Energy Security Project to ensure heat supply in emergency situations. This salt cargo will help to preserve the equipment of the heating system and ensure reliable service delivery to Izmail residents.

Volunteers from Odesa are building a mobile Invincibility Centre. It will become a shelter for people in the southern frontline regions and accommodate 30 people. They will be able to charge their gadgets, use the Internet, drink tea or coffee and eat hot food. A wood-burning stove, a washbasin and a small kitchen are being installed inside. The project will be completed in two weeks, and the bus will make its first trip.

Kherson oblast

The Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that russian occupiers fired 42 times at civilian settlements in Kherson oblast. In total, the invaders fired 151 shells from mortars, artillery and drones. The russian army attacked Kherson residential areas nine times. They hit critical infrastructure, private and apartment buildings. A 55-year-old man was seriously injured by russian shelling and later died in hospital.

Thanks to the initiative of volunteers, additional shelters will appear in Kherson. The protective structures will be installed at the largest bus stops in Kherson. The structures are planned to be installed at 41 stops. The Kherson Hub organization is installing the shelters. The funds for their installation were raised by volunteers.

A mobile team from INTERSOS has started working in Kherson region. A medical diagnostic trailer with a team of doctors from the INTERSOS charity organization provides support to internally displaced people and local residents. Community members will be able to undergo examinations, receive medical reports and medicines free of charge.

russian occupiers in the temporarily occupied Kherson oblast continue to forcibly issue russian passports to underage children, and do not forget to make videos about it.

In the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve, which is located in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson oblast, animals suffer from constant strikes by russian aircraft.

Volyn oblast

The RMA reported that the Kivertsiv community received a bus from Garna Ukraine and We Believe in Ukraine charities.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Tobias Tyberg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine. They discussed the security and socio-economic situation, the needs of Zakarpattia oblast due to the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, the role of the oblast in the future restoration of the country, issues of the Hungarian community, economic development, IDPs, relocation, etc.

RMA representatives met with Jean Rocha, President of the Franco-Ukrainian company BETEN International. They discussed the support of the oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the international organization Move Ukraine. They discussed the construction of a shelter for 500 people in Prykarpattia.

The Development Program of the United Nations Organization in Ukraine (UNDP) with the financial assistance of the Government of Japan sent Goal Zero – Power Stations Yeti 500X charging stations to all territorial communities of the oblast, 124 stations (2 units each) for each territorial community, as well as 16 stations to structural units the RMA. As part of the cooperation between the Ivano-Frankivsk RMA and UNDP, with the financial support of the British government, 14 power banks were also sent.

Lviv oblast

A sanatorium in Truskavets will provide social services to IDPs by decision of the Government. The project started on April 1 this year and will continue until the end of 2024. Within the framework of the experimental project of the Ministry of Social Policy, two sanatoriums under the control of the Ministry of Social Policy will provide social services to certain categories of persons who are in difficult life circumstances.

During March, 6,5K people who found themselves in difficult life circumstances received aid from the Advisory and Coordination Centers (ACC) under the regional military administrations of Lviv oblast thanks Ukrainian and international organizations that cooperate with the Lviv RMA within the framework of the ACC project.

The Krasnensk City Hospital received medicines from the Maltese Aid Service. The aid will be distributed among outpatient clinics and midwifery centers.

The Zabolotsk village hospital, where 24 elderly people were placed when the war began, received help thanks to representatives of the Let’s Help Together public initiative, a French philanthropist and the Fondation de France organization.

Strii region educational institutions received 100 School in a Box sets of stationery and 1K containers for liquids from UNICEF. One set is designed for 40 students.

A two-day fair was held at School # 1 in the city of Busk. Almost UAH 35K was collected for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the Komarnivsk community, a voluntary fire brigade was created to respond to emergency situations. Four volunteers underwent special training. There are two vehicles for firefighting and rescue operations.

A railway checkpoint connecting Rava-Ruska and Warsaw has opened in Lviv oblast.  Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, and Andrzej Adamchyk, Poland’s Minister of Infrastructure were among the first passengers of the train.

Rivne oblast

Five soldiers of the Rivne special unit KORD were posthumously awarded with III degree “For Courage” orders. Taras Melnyk, Ihor Markov, Serhii Shevchuk, Vasyl Nysynets and Andrii Oksenik were killed on May 22, 2022 during a rocket attack in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA reported that all communities of Ternopil oblast received 200 5-9 kW generators for educational institutions from the Czech Republic and Hungary. This assistance will ensure smooth operation of educational institutions in case of emergency.

For several days in a row, people have been gathering in Ternopil under the walls of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for a rally against the moscow patriarchate.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Cyber ​​Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine in Khmelnytskyi oblast, the critical infrastructure protection sector of the State Special Communications Administration in Khmelnytskyi oblast and representatives of the Department of Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization of the RMA. Cooperation and coordination of actions in the field of cyber security and cyber protection were discussed.

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the International Organization for Migration. They discussed the implementation of a number of humanitarian projects aimed at meeting the needs of IDPs in the oblast.

Chernivtsi oblast

In Bukovina, the Regional program of social support for participants in the anti-terrorist operation, defenders and their family members for 2023 was approved. Over UAH 14 million is planned to be allocated to its implementation: UAH 7 million for monetary assistance, UAH 5 million for medical and psychological rehabilitation, and UAH 2 million for dental prosthetics. Also, UAH 300K was earmarked for financial support of NGOs, and UAH 100K for the creation of informational materials.

The rifle battalion received a thermal imager and binoculars from the Lebensfahrten e. V. charitable organization.

The Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Hospital received humanitarian aid, namely, blankets, pillows, bed linen, towels., from the Chernivtsi regional organization of the Red Cross Society.

The RMA reported that the Chernivtsi geriatric boarding house received help, namely, canned fish, chicken stew, delicate beans, apples, juice, oranges, tangerines, potatoes, from benefactors. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland, announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, including MiG-29 fighters, Rosomak armored personnel carriers, Rak self-propelled mortars, and Piorun air defense systems. The countries also agreed on joint production of 125-mm tank ammunition.

Yana Chernokhova, Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, said that the country plans to provide military aid to Ukraine in the amount of almost $30 million.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, announced that NATO countries agreed to develop a multi-year aid program for Ukraine.

The Pentagon concluded a $27.1 million contract for Abrams tanks for Ukraine. The exact number of tanks produced is not specified, but it is noted that “the work will be performed in Lima (Ohio) with an expected completion date of September 29, 2023.”

The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain informs that the second group of artillerymen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed training in Great Britain on 155-mm AS90 self-propelled artillery installations.

Ukroboronprom concluded an agreement on the production of 125-mm projectiles in Poland.

In a joint statement, the EU and 49 countries condemned russia’s attempts to justify the forced deportation of Ukrainian children at the UN Security Council. The statement was circulated in response to russia’s convening of a meeting of the UN Security Council, at which the russian federation wanted to discuss the ‘evacuation’ of Ukrainian children from the war zone.

Bulgaria closes its ports to all russian ships regardless of the flag under which they sail. The decision comes into force on April 8. This is related to the EU sanctions enforcement directive.

Emmanuel Macron, French President, met with Xi Jinping, Chinese President, in Beijing. Among the topics of discussion is the russian federation’s war against Ukraine.

Oleksii Reznikov announced the 11th meeting in the Rammstein format, which should take place in April at an air base in Germany. According to the minister, the priority during the new meeting will remain the delivery of air defense systems.

Ukraine and Poland will cooperate on involving business in reconstruction. Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister, and Waldemar Buda, Polish Minister, signed the memorandum.

Arvidas Anushauskas, Defense Minister of Lithuania, together with his Ukrainian colleague Oleksii Reznikov came to Kharkiv.

During Volodymyr Zelensyyi’s visit to Warsaw, Andrzej Duda, Polish President, assured that his country will always support a free Ukraine, regardless of political disputes.

Lithuania adopted a resolution on inviting Ukraine to NATO. The adopted resolution of the Lithuanian Seimas talks about the need to invite Ukraine to join NATO at the upcoming summit of the Alliance in Vilnius, which will be held on July 11-12.

Bulgaria defined military aggression of the russian federation as a direct threat to global peace. The Ministry of Defense stated that the russian army is committing systematic crimes in Ukraine.

Over 20  mental health specialists from Ukraine and 9 from France and the US exchanged experience in Warsaw during a four-day workshop “Life after torture”. The event was organized by the French Primo Levi, Doctors United for Ukraine (DU4U), the PTSD center of Yale University, and with the initiative and support of Marta Kuzma, Professor of the Yale University School of Art.

The Virtual LitMuseum was among the five nominees of The Webby Awards. The Kharkiv LitMuseum project was nominated in the “Art, culture and events” category. The award is given for the software created.
