It has been the 1077th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

The situation on the frontline remains difficult. Despite suffering significant losses inflicted by our defenders, the enemy continues its attempts to break through the defenses of Ukrainian forces.

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 54 combat engagements.

Today, enemy artillery shelling from russian territory has affected the areas of Velyka Pysarivka and Dmytrivka in Sumy oblast, Mykhalchyna Sloboda in Chernihiv oblast.

Towards Kharkiv, russian occupiers attempted to assault Ukrainian defensive positions near Vovchansk. Our defenders successfully repelled the attack. Additionally, the enemy carried out airstrikes on the settlements of Udy and Saltyne.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched five active assaults on our positions in the areas of Zahryzove, Petropavlivka, and Lozova. As of now, two combat engagements are ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the occupying army launched two attacks on Ukrainian positions near Yampolivka and Dibrova. Fighting is currently ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the areas of Chasiv Yar and Stupochky, with one engagement still ongoing.

Towards Toretsk, russian forces attempted to dislodge our units from their positions near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. The Defense Forces repelled six enemy assaults, with one combat engagement still underway.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy has already attempted 22 assaults to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Kotlyne, Udachne, Uspenivka, Andriivka, and Dachne. The Defense Forces are holding the line and have successfully repelled 17 enemy attacks so far. Enemy losses are being verified.

Towards Novopavlivka, Ukrainian soldiers repelled two assaults by the occupying forces near Rozlyv and Zelenivka today.

Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Novosilka. The enemy also carried out airstrikes on Huliaipole, dropping six guided aerial bombs.

Towards Orikhiv, our defenders successfully repelled one enemy attempt to advance towards Novodanylivka.

Towards Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy attacks, with one combat engagement still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy conducted 34 airstrikes, dropping 52 guided bombs, used unguided rockets, and carried out 225 artillery strikes on our positions and settlements.

The enemy did not conduct active operations towards Siversk and Kherson.


Evacuation of Children from Kharkiv oblast

An additional 126 children still need to be evacuated from the most dangerous areas of Kharkiv oblast. Since 23 January, authorities have evacuated 141 families with children from Kupiansk region. From three villages in Velykyi Burluk community, 82 children and their families have been evacuated. Another 59 children have been relocated from villages of Kindrashivka community. A total of 126 minors with their families still require evacuation from designated settlements.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the evacuees receive support, including temporary housing and financial assistance from the United Nations.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, said that additionally, five more children have been returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory. Three boys and two girls, ranging in age from 8 to 17 years old, have been brought back, along with one child from among the orphans.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline 

According to the RMA, yesterday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled an enemy attack near Vovchansk towards Kharkiv.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders faced 13 enemy assaults throughout the day, engaging in defensive actions near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Zahryzove.

Attacks

Head Viktor Kovalenko said that russian forces launched two airstrikes on Zolochiv community. Around 5pm, two guided aerial bombs (KABs) struck near Baranivka, while a third hit the outskirts of the village of Udy. Earlier, between 1:30 and 2pm, russian troops shelled the village of Oleksandrivka with mortars, damaging three private homes, power lines, and destroying a barn.

During the day, the enemy launched a ballistic missile strike on the central part of Izium, as reported by the regional military administration. The attack, likely carried out with an Iskander missile, resulted in the deaths of a 44-year-old man, a 69-year-old man, an unidentified male, and two sisters aged 18 and 19—one of whom was pregnant.

A total of 55 people were injured, including a 6-year-old boy and two girls aged 14 and 16. The 14-year-old girl is in critical condition, while the boy and the 16-year-old girl are in moderate condition. Most of the wounded are employees of the tax office, the Child Services Department, the State Enforcement Service, a medical college, and other institutions.

The administrative building of Izium City Council has been partially destroyed. Additionally, another administrative building and the windows of three residential apartment buildings have been damaged. The shelling affected 170 apartments, shattering windows. Relevant services have already begun addressing the aftermath.

Yesterday at 4:40pm, russians attacked Zolochiv community. Two strikes by guided aerial bombs (KAB) were recorded in an open area: one explosion occurred near the village of Muravske, and another near the village of Berezivka. There were no reports of casualties or destruction.

At 4:30pm, a russian drone attacked Kupiansk. As a result of the strike, a vehicle was damaged.

At 4:15pm, the russians shelled Kupiansk. The attack damaged a private house and a garage. A 71-year-old woman was injured.

At 3:40pm, the occupiers attacked the city of Kupiansk with a guided aerial bomb (KAB), damaging a civilian enterprise building.

At 3:10pm, Monachynivka, Kindrashivska community, Kupiansk region, were under enemy attack. A private house and an outbuilding were damaged.

At 1:30pm, an FPV drone strike was recorded in the city of Kupiansk, Kupiansk community, damaging a vehicle.

At 11:40am, an enemy FPV drone hit an ambulance in the city of Kupiansk.

At 10:30am, in a field near the village of Oleksiivka, Oleksiivska community, Lozova region, the remains of a downed enemy drone were found.

At 10:20am, an enemy FPV drone attacked the city of Kupiansk, damaging a police service vehicle.

At 10am, russian forces shelled the village of Blahodativka, Kindrashivska community, Kupiansk region. A private house and an outbuilding were damaged.

Other

As evacuation measures intensified, 38 people (including 14 children) were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.

According to the village council, a day of mourning for the deceased in Izium has been declared in the Borova community on 5 February. Three of the five deceased were residents of the village of Pidlyman, while six wounded individuals came from Pidlyman, Zahryzove, and Pidvysoke. Among them were two children. All suffered injuries of varying severity, with four hospitalized. One man is in critical condition.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

Russian forces continue to attack Ukrainian positions on the Pokrovsk front. Over the past day, the Defense Forces repelled 38 assaults, particularly near Malynivka, Novopoltavka, Zelenyi Hai, Promin, Udachne, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Dachne, and Pokrovsk.

Additionally, Russian troops launched 12 attacks in the urban areas of Toretsk and near the villages of Krymske and Shcherbynivka.

Ukrainian forces repelled six more assaults in Kramatorsk and Novopavlivka directions.

According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Ukrainian intelligence, in cooperation with fighters from the Nemesis unit, destroyed a Russian howitzer on the Pokrovsk front.

Viktor Trehubov, Spokesperson of the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group, said that russian forces have reduced the use of armored vehicles in their assaults on Ukrainian positions, particularly in battles in Donetsk oblast. Tanks and armored vehicles are mainly deployed in areas with open terrain.

Shelling

Serhii Horbunov, Head of Mykolaiv Military Administration, reported that at approximately 11:20am, russian troops shelled Kostiantynivka with barrel artillery, damaging private houses, a garage, a car, and power lines.

Yesterday police recorded 3,757 enemy strikes on frontline settlements and residential areas.

A total of 44 civilian structures were damaged, including 21 residential buildings.

In Pokrovsk, the occupiers struck with an FAB-250 aerial bomb and artillery, killing one civilian and damaging five private houses and two vehicles.

In Rubtsi, russian forces fired Smerch MLRS, injuring a civilian and damaging ten units of agricultural machinery. In Yarova, a private household was damaged.

In Bahatyr, an artillery strike injured one person and damaged a private house.

In Kostiantynivka, russian forces used drones and artillery, destroying a private house, a non-residential building, a civilian vehicle, a gas pipeline, and power lines.

In Siversk, an aerial bomb damaged a hospital.

In Serhiivka, Pokrovsk region, russians dropped a 500kg bomb, damaging two apartment buildings, four private houses, and a hospital.

In Rodynske, seven private houses were damaged.

Other

Six people were killed in Pokrovsk last week as russian FPV drones continued targeting civilian vehicles. Around 7,000 residents remain in the city out of a pre-war population of 48,000.

Head Vadym Filashkin said that mandatory evacuation of families with children has been introduced in 12 settlements of Shakhiv community in Donetsk oblast. Currently, 66 children remain in these areas.

Luhansk oblast

Frontline

The RMA informed that russian troops attempted to advance towards this village, as well as Bilohorivka and the area around Novoiehorivka. The enemy launched nine artillery strikes and deployed 176 drones over the past day.

From the frontline village of Novolubivka, three civilians were evacuated—a 70-year-old woman and two men aged 72 and 61. The village is now completely depopulated.

Occupied Territories

Children from the so-called “lpr” will be admitted to russian military academies without competition, according to a document published on the kremlin’s website following a meeting between its leader and russian volunteers. The document includes an order to prioritize the enrollment of children forcibly deported from occupied territories into educational institutions with integrated military training programs and state service in the russian Cossack structures.

Russia is not only dumping waste from neighboring regions into occupied Luhansk oblast. Due to the unusually warm winter, local agronomists from the russian agricultural service warn of a locust invasion from Rostov oblast, as russian authorities have failed to contain the spread in their own territory.

Referring to the Eastern Human Rights Group, mass school closures are expected in occupied Luhansk oblast due to a demographic crisis caused by 10 years of war and parents refusing to enroll children in the russian education system.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Mayor Vitalii Klychko stated that after the night attack in Pecherskyi district of the capital, the wreckage of a drone was found on several floors of an 18-storey unfinished building. There was no damage or fire. No one was injured.

The State Emergency Service reported that a warhead of a Geranium-2 unmanned aerial vehicle was found in Kyiv oblast. A forester came across the suspicious object and reported it to experts. Pyrotechnics seized the hazardous element and delivered it for further destruction in accordance with the established procedure.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, who is currently on a visit to Ukraine, attended the Kyivska substation. The substation is an important part of Ukraine’s power system, which is crucial for nuclear safety. According to Grossi, a nuclear accident can occur as a result of a direct attack on the plant, as well as a power supply disruption. The goal is to prevent this.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that law enforcement officers identified a russian serviceman who tried to shoot a local resident in March 2022 during the occupation of Bucha. The defendant, together with other russian military personnel, while patrolling the streets of the city, opened fire with assault rifles in the direction of a local resident who was walking to his home. The victim managed to run to the territory of the nearest household and hid in the house, but the russian soldier followed the victim and shot him with an assault rifle.

Bucha Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk announced that USAID has provided about $1.7m in assistance to Bucha community. He expressed his gratitude to USAID, which provided the community with generators, municipal vehicles and 23 new transformers. Due to the suspension of USAID’s activities, the community did not receive half a million dollars worth of equipment for the smart city project and three units of municipal equipment for Buchaservice. The agency also planned to support the creation of a rehabilitation facility.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko informed that a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, led by Arvid Turkner, Managing Director of the EBRD in Ukraine and Moldova, met at the City Hall. They discussed the implementation of energy resilience measures in the capital in the face of possible power outages and the modernisation of public transport.

The first cogeneration unit with a capacity of 2.5 MW has been put into operation in the Bucha community and is already supplying electricity to the national grid. In the future, it is planned to install five more such units with a total capacity of 15 MW, which will cover up to 50% of the community’s energy needs.

Zhytomyr oblast

Sviatoslav Yurchuk, head of the urban planning department of Novohuyvynsk village council, announced that four houses in one of the communities in Zhytomyr oblast were damaged by a russian air attack. Windows and doors were smashed, walls and roofs were damaged. The damage survey commission is assessing the damage.

In Zhytomyr oblast, 69 male veterans and one female veteran have already benefited from grants to start and expand their own businesses, receiving a total of almost UAH 35m. The project “Grant for Veterans and Second Spouses” under the Own Business programme will be launched on 3 April 2023. 

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy Prosecutor’s Office, on February 4, russian troops shelled the civilian infrastructure of Krasnopillia community by artillery. As a result of the shelling, a 50-year-old resident of Hrabovske village was killed. A 43-year-old man, who was riding a bicycle towards Mykhailivske village, was injured.

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that in Sumy oblast, the fall of two russian drones caused damage in two communities. In Buryn community, the blast wave damaged four private houses, one multi-storey building, and an educational institution. In Sumy community, four country houses were damaged.

Mykhailo Melnyk, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that on the afternoon of 4 February, a russian drone attacked a car in Khotin community. According to his information, there were no injured or deceased people as a result of the strike.

During night and morning, russians carried out 12 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 12 explosions: GAB launches (10 explosions), UAV attack (2 explosions). The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka, Buryn communities. 

The Regional Military Administration reported that Regional Air Defense Units shot down 14 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type over Sumy oblast. Since the beginning of 2025, the Air Defence Units have destroyed 299 russian drones.

During the past day, 3 February, russian forces carried out 99 attacks in Sumy oblast. In total, 162 explosions were recorded: air-dropped bombs (5 explosions), mortar shellings (62 explosions), artillery fire (11 explosions), FPV-drones (21 explosions), and dropping explosive devices from UAVs (59 explosions). The shelling affected 11 border communities: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda, and Znob-Novhorod.

In the territory of Seredyna-Buda community, a civilian was injured as a result of shelling. An administrative building and a private residential house were also damaged. The attack involved an FPV-drone strike (2 explosions), mortar shelling (5 explosions), and dropping explosive devices from UAVs (17 explosions).

As a result of the air-dropped bomb attack on Myropillia community (4 explosions), 2 private houses and a non-residential building were damaged.

For two days in the villages of Shostka region, doctors of various specialities, including a surgeon, dentist, gynaecologist, and orthopaedist, examined all those wishing to be seen. The qualified medical professionals arrived as part of the work of the Frida Ukrainian-Israeli charity organization. Vladyslava Romaniuk, Head of the volunteer project ‘Frida Ukraine’ informed that over the course of two days, they examined around 200 people.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, throughout 3 February, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast. 

In Novhorod-Siverskyi community, Bohdanove, Hremyach, and Krasnyi Khutir were under enemy fire. The enemy launched 3 mortar strikes, 6 MLRS strikes, and an FPV-drone strike.

In Semenivka community, the russian military shelled 7 settlements: Mykolaivka, Zaliznyy Most, Mkhy, Oleksandrivka, Karpovychi, Bleshnia, Kostobobriv. The occupiers launched 6 mortar strikes, 5 FPV-drone strikes, and carried out 23 UAV attacks.

In Snovk community, the enemy attacked Klyusy by an FPV-drone, and in Hirsk and Khrynivka, it carried out 6 airdrops of explosives from UAVs.

In Horodnia community, Berylivka was under attack – 2 NPP releases from UAVs.

The North Operational Command reported that as a result of the shelling of Chernihiv oblast on 3 February, three agricultural buildings in Koriukivka community were damaged.

The Ministry of Health announced that in Chernihiv oblast, Nova Bykivka rural health clinic has been restored after suffering significant damage at the onset of the full-scale conflict. The major refurbishment was completed with the support of the World Bank’s “Strengthening the Health System and Saving Lives” (HEAL Ukraine) project.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, informed that four Ukrainian veterans, after injuries and amputations, climbed the highest peak in Africa – Kilimanjaro, whose height is 5,895 meters. Among the veterans is Chernihiv border guard Vladyslav Shatilo. The man climbed the mountain on a lower limb prosthesis.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

From evening to night, russian forces continued attacking Nikopol region, by artillery, a kamikaze drone and Grad multiple rocket launchers. They targeted the regional centre, Pokrov and Marhanets communities. The shelling caused a fire and damaged an industrial enterprise, but no casualties were reported.

Throughout the day, russian forces attacked Nikopol region nearly 20 times by artillery, kamikaze drones and dropped ammunition from drones. They targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities, damaging a transport company, infrastructure, an apartment building, 21 private houses, 8 outbuildings, 2 garages, 2 cars, awnings, power lines and a gas pipeline. Also, Synelnykove region was struck twice, killing one person. Another person was hospitalised in critical condition. 2 private houses and a car were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that in Vinnytsia, 25 strike UAVs of aircraft type were delivered to a special forces unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These drones are multi-functional, capable of performing reconnaissance, strike and targeting missions.

Vinnytsia will host a training for veterans titled New Mission: Successful Employment. In particular, the participants will prepare for communication with employers and get acquainted with the offers of employers in Vinnytsia and the oblast for female and male veterans.

Kirovohrad oblast

Kirovohrad oblast suffered another enemy drone attack. In one community of Kropyvnytskyi region, several residential buildings had windows damaged. There were no casualties reported.

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that in Oleksandrivka community, authorities inspected properties damaged by the drone attack. 25 windows in 8 private houses and several windows in an educational institution were broken. Damage assessments have been completed and authorities will soon calculate losses and arrange compensation. Meanwhile, municipal workers helped residents cover broken windows with protective film.

Poltava oblast

The Executive Committee of Poltava City Council decided to provide financial assistance to the victims: UAH 50,000 in one-time payments to the families of the deceased, the community will cover burial expenses. UAH 300,000 for those who completely lost their homes, to help with rent and essential needs.

3 more soldiers from Poltava oblast were killed in action, defending Ukraine from the russian invasion:

  • Ivan Vdovychenko, 38 years old, killed on 30 January near Novoiehorivka, Luhansk oblast.
  • Yaroslav Faliush, 30 years old, killed on 30 January near Komar village, Donetsk oblast.
  • Hennadii Volyk, 58 years old, killed on 23 January in a mortar attack in Donetsk oblast.

The russian missile strike that hit a residential building in Poltava on 1 February killed 14 civilians, including children, their parents, a soldier and his wife, an actress, a nurse, a tax officer, volunteers and a hairdresser.

Cherkasy oblast

Ukrainian air defence shot down 12 Shahed drones over Cherkasy oblast.

Olha Kamchatna, Manager of the company, reported that a nighttime attack on Cherkasy oblast caused fires at 3 private enterprises. One business lost a warehouse, which contained household appliances, construction materials, furniture and personal belongings that had been moved from Pokrovsk to Cherkasy. Initial damage estimates are around UAH 20m.

Cherkasy paid tribute to border guard Anton Sekorzhynskyi, who was killed in action in Kharkiv oblast during a combat mission.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that a woman was injured in a russian airstrike using guided aerial bombs (KABs) on the frontline town of Huliaipole. She was hospitalised.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Southern Defence Forces, on 3 February, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 4 russian attacks in Orikhiv and Huliaipole regions and one attack in Zaporizhzhia oblast. In particular, russian forces attacked Novosilky, Novodanylivka and Shcherbaky twice.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 3 February, russian forces carried out 277 strikes on 8 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Among them, 145 UAVs of various types attacked Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne and Novodarivka.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to the RMA, on 3 February, no shelling was recorded in Mykolaiv oblast.

Odesa oblast

Referring to the Ukrainian Navy, on the morning of 4 February, 2 russian warships were detected on combat duty in the Black Sea, one of which is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.

Kherson oblast

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, during the day, russian forces shelled Mylove village in Kherson oblast by artillery, killing a 71-year-old man.

The RMA reported that a woman in Stanislav was injured by a russian drone attack and was hospitalised.

The russian forces launched a drone strike on Kherson, wounding a 52-year-old woman, who was hospitalised in moderate condition.

An 85-year-old woman in Kherson sustained a blast injury and concussion due to russian shelling.

In Mykilske, a 73-year-old man was attacked by a russian drone, suffering blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to his legs.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that 5 children were evacuated from occupied Kherson oblast – 3 boys and 2 girls. The youngest is 8 years old, the oldest is 17.

According to the RMA, in Kherson, 3 additional mobile shelters were installed by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. One was placed near a medical facility, while the other 2 were set up at public transport stops.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that on 3 February, russian forces shelled 30 settlements in Kherson oblast, targeting social infrastructure and residential areas. The attacks damaged 12 private houses and several cars. One person was killed and 9 injured.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Shatsk Village Council reported that Hero Oleksandr Tsyupiashuk, soldier of the Military Unit A 7052 from Shatsk was posthumously awarded the For the Defense of Mykolaiv honorary distinction. He was killed on 27 August in Kherson oblast, receiving injuries incompatible with life while performing a combat mission.

Zakarpattia oblast

A Regional Centre for Human Rights Protection has been opened in Uzhhorod, where citizens will be able to receive legal and social support. The centre will become a point of support for local residents and internally displaced persons, helping them resolve legal issues, social adaptation, and protect their rights.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 50 FPV drones to the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade thanks to the budget funds.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that in the village of Batiatichyi, Kamianka-Buzkoa, an Alley of Memory of Fallen Heroes was opened and consecrated.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that in 2024, the state allocated UAH 129m for the purchase of 58 apartments for veterans.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Peter Reger, Head of the Humanitarian Aid of the City of Bielefeld CF from Germany. They discussed the foundation’s activities in Ternopil oblast, implemented projects, and further cooperation.

Ternopil City Council reported that in January of this year, Ternopil sent equipment worth over UAH 90,000 to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and directed over UAH 1m to the accounts of military units.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reported that defense physician Vitalii Prokhorchuk received the Honored Doctor of Ukraine honorary title.

Chernivtsi oblast

Orthodox community of the city of Zastavna has transferred from subordination to the UOC-mp to the OCU. 390 members of the religious community registered at the meeting in Zastavna. All those present voted unanimously for the transfer of the religious community of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the OCU.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Latvia sent 100 FPV drones to the 21st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Lyut Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine.

Ukrainian soldiers after amputations conquered Kilimanjaro. The climb became historic: among the Ukrainian soldiers, no one with a lower limb prosthesis had ever climbed the peak of Africa (5,895m). There are no cases in the world when four soldiers with prostheses at once, as well as a soldier after injuries, made such a group climb.

Over 20 volunteers from the US are missing in action in the war in Ukraine. At least 5 volunteers were killed in the past 6 months.
