The invaders continue to storm the positions of the Ukrainian defenders.
On 31 August, there were 77 combat clashes on the front line.
Border settlements suffered from shelling from the territory of the russian federation, in particular Kliusy in Chernihiv oblast; Sorokyne, Prohres, Novovasylivka, Tovstodubove, Nova Huta, Zarichne, Znob-Novhorodske, Buniakyne, Seredyna Buda, Bachivsk in Sumy oblast. Enemy aviation struck the settlement of Velyka Bereza with guided aerial bombs.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were 99 attacks, in particular 3 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, Ukrainian soldiers stopped three enemy attacks in thevicinities of the settlements of Vovchansk, Hlyboke and Krasne Pershe.
Towards Kupiansk, fighting is currently underway near the settlement of Synkivka.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked 13 times near the settlements of Shandryholove, Kolodiazhi, Karpivka, Dronivka, Serebrianka, Yampol, and Hryhorivka. Five clashes are ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the Defense Forces repelled three attacks. Invading units tried to advance near Hryhorivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, there were no clashes.
Towards Toretsk, in the vicinity of the settlements of Toretsk, Diliivka, and Poltavka, four enemy offensive actions failed.
Towards Pokrovsk, the invaders have made 32 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Fedorivka, Maiak, Nykanorivka, Nove Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Sukhetske, Promin, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove and Dachne. The defense forces are holding back the enemy’s onslaught and stopped 26 attacks.
Towards Novopavlivka, there were 18 enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Filiia, Yalta, Tovste, Oleksandrohrad, Maliivka, Voskresenka and Komyshuvakha. Six combat clashes are still ongoing. Havrylivka was hit by airstrikes by GABs.
Towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv, there were no enemy offensive actions.
Towards kherson, the enemy conducted one attack without success. Odradokamianka was hit by an airstrike.
The situation on other fronts did not change significantly.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Over the past day, 9 settlements in Kharkiv oblast have been hit by enemy strikes. There were no casualties as a result of the shelling.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons:
▪️1 Geran-2 type UAV;
▪️1 Lancet type UAV;
▪️5 Molniya type UAVs;
▪️4 UAVs (type to be determined).
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️In Kharkiv region, a fence was damaged (Derhachi city);
▪️In Kupiansk region, a private house was damaged (Kurhanne village);
▪️In Izium region, a private house was damaged (Borova village);
▪️In Bohodukhiv region, a private house and an outbuilding were damaged (Velyka Rohozianka village).
There were 182 combat clashes in the oblast.
▪️ Towards Southern Sloboda, there were eleven enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Vovchansk, Hlyboke, Kamianka and towards Novovasylivka.
▪️ Towards Kupiansk, there were nine attacks by the invaders yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Petropavlivka and Kupiansk.
Donetsk oblast
Shelling
Two people killed, six injured in russian shelling of Donetsk oblast.
▪️On August 30, there were 1,971 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector.
▪️15 settlements were under fire: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Mykolaivka, Pokrovsk, Sviatohirsk, the settlements of Raihorodok, Yarova, the villages of Druzhkivske, Ozerne, Oleksandrivka, Serhiivka, Spasko-Mykhailivka.
▪️51 civilian objects were destroyed, including 27 residential buildings.
▪️russians dropped a GAB-250 bomb on Sviatohirsk, killing a civilian.
▪️The enemy hit Kostiantynivka with three GAB-250 bombs, three FPV drones and artillery ¬ – two people were injured, 8 apartment buildings and 2 private houses, a dental clinic, and 10 garages were damaged.
▪️In Druzhkivka, a civilian was injured and a private house was damaged as a result of a Molniya-2 UAV hit. In Druzhkivske, a private house and a car were damaged.
▪️In Kramatorsk, three drones damaged three private houses and two civilian cars. Four FPV drones of russian troops were directed at Serhiivka of the Andriivka community – they damaged a bus.
▪️Lyman was attacked by four drones, three private and 6 summer houses, 4 outbuildings were damaged. In Oleksandrivka of Lyman community, a private house was damaged, and in Ozerne, a non-residential building. An infrastructure facility was destroyed in Raigorodok.
▪️Two FPV drones attacked Dobropillia – an apartment building and an outbuilding were damaged. In Pokrovsk, a private house was damaged by an MLRS strike.
In addition, last night, russia shelled Iverske, Kramatorsk region, with drones – one person was killed and three others were injured.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
In the capital, almost 70% of educational institutions damaged by the war have been restored. In 2024–2025, the restoration of 168 educational institutions was completed. Repairs are ongoing at 45 sites. The remaining institutions are either in the design phase or awaiting funding, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA). In addition, over the past two years, the shelter capacity in Kyiv’s educational institutions has increased by 83,500 places.
In Kyiv, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard held a training for women titled “Rehabilitation, Recovery, Safety, and Self-Defense in Crisis Situations.” During the sessions, women mastered key elements of self-defense, which are vital in today’s world. The training included not only physical techniques but also psychological preparation for crisis situations.
Jessie the dog, who lost her owner during Russia’s combined attack on Kyiv on August 28, has found a new family. She now lives with rescuers outside the city, surrounded by nature, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU). Jessie is currently undergoing medical checkups and adaptation and is temporarily staying in an enclosure under the supervision of emergency workers.
The Makariv territorial community signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German company NOTUS ENERGY – an international investor in the field of renewable energy.
The Bucha territorial community welcomed 50 children from different regions of Ukraine as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”
The Yahotyn territorial community completed a children’s wellness program in its twin town of Siewierz, Poland. During their stay, the children took part in a rich program combining excursions, cultural, and sports activities.
Ten communities in the Kyiv region received new modern school buses to transport children to educational institutions, according to the Regional Military Administration (RMA).
Zhytomyr oblast
On August 29, a Heroes’ Memorial of local defenders was unveiled in the administrative center of the Vilshanka community. The memorial site had been under construction for more than six months. The materials were purchased with funds from the community budget, while all the work—from earthworks to finishing—was carried out by the staff of the village council.
On August 30 in Zhytomyr, a motor rally was held in support of Ukrainian defenders held in captivity. A column of cars and motorcycles moved through the city streets. Participants of the rally carried posters with words of support for the prisoners.
On August 30, Berdychiv joined the nationwide run “I Honor the Warriors, I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine.” A black-and-white flag was also raised in the city to remind everyone of Ukrainians who remain in captivity.
Sumy oblast
On the morning of 31 August the General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 attacks. Over the past day, the russian army carried out 17 air strikes, dropped 43 guided aerial bombs, and launched 194 artillery attacks, including two by multiple launch rocket systems.
In Shostka region, in Khutir-Mykhailivka community, the enemy attacked a civilian while he was riding a moped. A 64-year-old man was injured. Despite the threat of repeated strikes, a medical team reached the victim. He is now in hospital.
The State Emergency Service informed that on 30 August, the russian army twice struck Putyvl by drones. A fire broke out in a private household. Due to the risk of repeated strikes, rescuers were forced to temporarily suspend their work. All fire sources were extinguished. A car was also damaged in the attack.
At about 4:30pm on 30 August, an enemy drone struck Druzhba community. A 62-year-old man, the elder of one of the villages, was injured. He received treatment on site.
Later, russians attacked Putyvl community, reportedly by two strike UAVs, and also shelled the area with long-range multiple launch rocket systems. Residential houses and a truck were damaged.
From the morning of 30 August to the morning of 31 August, russian forces carried out 100 attacks on 36 settlements in 14 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (over 10 strikes), dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (up to 20 strikes), launched multiple launch rocket systems (up to 20 strikes), and also carried out attacks by FPV-drones and UAVs.
The consequences of russian strikes in Sumy oblast as of the morning of 31 August:
- In Druzhba community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Putyvl community, private houses and a car were damaged;
- In Shostka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and non-governmental organisations, evacuated 5 people from border communities.
The Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies decided that preschool and extracurricular education institutions in Sumy community will operate remotely until 30 September.
In Sumy, clean-up efforts have been ongoing for three days at the site of the russian strike on Sumy State University during the night of 17–18 August. Teachers, trainers, students, and their parents are working to clear the rubble.

Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Kodola, Mayor of Nizhyn, said that at around 9am. on 31 August in Nizhyn, a russian Shahed drone struck a critical infrastructure facility. As a result, the city was left without water and electricity. According to Nizhyn water utility, water supply during the day will be provided by generators.
The Regional Military Administration reported that in Chernihiv oblast, 30,000 consumers were left without electricity following a night-time attack. The enemy struck a civilian critical infrastructure facility in Nizhyn region.
North Operational Command informed that on 30 August, in a village of Semenivka community, enemy FPV-drones attacked a farm, setting a grain storage facility on fire. Twice, russians struck facilities in Nizhyn region, damaging an administrative building in one of the communities. In a village of Koriukivka region, dry grass caught fire after a Molniya-type drone strike.
According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, during 30 August, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (2 explosions) and tube artillery strikes (10 explosions), launched a Herbera-type UAV (1 explosion), struck by FPV-drones (23 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (13 explosions). Eleven settlements came under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the oblast council, reports the occupiers struck at Synelnykove region. They targeted Pokrovske community. A fire broke out, and a private house was damaged. A 58-year-old woman was injured. According to updated information, a private house and an outbuilding were damaged due to yesterday’s attacks in Petropavlivka community. From evening to night, attacks on Nikopol region continued. The enemy struck with artillery, drones and fired with the MLRS Grad. They targeted Nikopol, Pokrovske, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities. A 46-year-old man was injured and hospitalized in serious condition. A fire broke out. 2 apartment buildings, 7 private homes, 8 outbuildings, 2 garages, a building that was not in use, gas pipelines and power lines were damaged.
Dnipro region was attacked. The enemy carried out a missile and drone attack. There were fires. The occupiers carried out about twenty-five attacks in Nikopol region. They struck with artillery and drones. They targeted Nikopol, Pokrovske, Myrove and Marhanets communities. A 64-year-old woman was injured in Myrove community. She was hospitalized in moderate condition. A 23-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were also injured. 3 private houses, an outbuilding, 2 minibuses, 3 cars, an enterprise and a gas pipeline were damaged. The occupiers struck in Synelnykove region. Women aged 31 and 51 were injured, as well as an 11-year-old boy. They targeted Mezhova and Malomykhailivka communities. There were fires, private houses and a medical facility were damaged.
Kirovohrad oblast
In the village of Sabatynivka, Blahovishchensk community, relatives, friends, fellow villagers and comrades said goodbye to the fighter Volodymyr Babii.
Cherkasy oblast
In Cherkasy, on Soborna Square, the Sunday action “Don’t be silent – captivity kills!” took place. Relatives of prisoners and missing defenders gathered with posters and flags.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 66-year-old woman was injured in a russian strike on Preobrazhenka village in Polohy region. A fire broke out at the site. Medics provided the woman with all necessary assistance.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed that on 30 August, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 5 russian attacks in Orikhiv region. The russian troops tried to advance near Kamianske village, while no offensive actions were recorded in Huliaipole region.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, said that on 30 August, russian forces carried out 391 strikes on 16 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. In particular, 286 drones of various types (mostly FPV) targeted Zaporizhzhia, Chervonodniprovka, Plavni, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Vasynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Preobrazhenka, Novopavlivka and Dolynka.
The State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia oblast reported that 2 women, aged 67 and 70, were injured in a russian strike on Komyshuvakha yesterday. Both were hospitalised.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that 8 people injured in yesterday’s russian attack on Zaporizhzhia remain in hospitals in the regional centre. The condition of a 61-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman is serious. Other victims, including 2 children, are in moderate condition.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv RMA, overnight on 30 August, russian forces launched 2 KABs at Mykolaiv oblast. As of the morning, no damage or casualties were reported.
Yesterday, russian forces carried out 3 FPV drone attacks on Kutsurub community. One strike damaged a utility building in Dmytrivka village.
Odesa oblast
Based on the information provided by the State Emergency Service, a fire that broke out in Odesa oblast as a result of a russian drone attack was extinguished by 84 firefighters with 26 units of equipment.
According to the Prosecutors Office, Chornomorsk city sustained the heaviest damage. Energy facilities, administrative and warehouse buildings of several enterprises and the roof of a private house were damaged. 3 cars were destroyed by fire.
Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa RMA, informed that russian forces attacked Odesa region by strike drones. Energy infrastructure was damaged. Ukrainian air defence shot down 48 Shahed-type strike drones and other decoy drones of various types.
Kherson oblast
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that during the day, russian forces dropped explosives from a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, killing a woman.
Referring to Odesa RMA, in the morning, russian artillery struck Tsentralnyi district of Kherson, hitting a medical facility. A 54-year-old man was wounded and in total, 5 people injured. 3 men were hospitalised, while 2 others received treatment on site. A medical and an educational facility, an administrative building and a residential house were damaged.
At around 6am, russian forces shelled Bilozirka in Kherson oblast. A 56-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man suffered blast injuries and concussions.
Overnight, russian shelling hit Korabelnyi district of Kherson, injuring a 52-year-old man who was treated on the spot.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that, on 30 August, russian forces shelled 28 settlements in Kherson oblast. 1 person was killed and 8 wounded. A gas station, 8 private houses, a garage and several cars were damaged.

The RMA reported that yesterday evening, at about 6:40pm, a russian drone attacked a 45-year-old man in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. He suffered blast injuries.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
A delegation from the Estonian Rescue Board and the Estonian Rescue Association paid a working visit to Lutsk. During the meeting, the Estonian colleagues learned about the experience and lessons learned by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the field of emergency management and civil protection in the context of a full-scale russian invasion.
Zakarpattia oblast
A vacation in Austria was organized for 52 children of military personnel and IDPs from the oblast. They spent their last summer days brightly and profitably in the federal state of Burgenland.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that 50 Amara 10 FPV drones worth over UAH 1.7m were sent to the 109th Battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade.
Lviv oblast
Drohobych RMA, the Anti-Corruption Department Security Union NGO and volunteer Vitalii Komarnytskyi sent a car for the defenders.
The event Youth Feels Its Strength and Significance took place in the village of Pidbuzh. A volleyball tournament was held, as well as football competitions and other sports activities. The event raised over UAH 4,000 for the needs of defenders.
Skhidnytsia village council allocated UAH 265,000 to improve the logistical support of the electronic warfare company of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yar. These funds were used to purchase a catapult for launching UAVs and the Sokil enemy drone interceptor complex.
Rivne oblast
A large-scale All-Ukrainian race in memory of the I Honor Soldiers, I Run For Heroes of Ukraine took place in Lviv oblast. In Lviv alone, the event gathered over 1,500 participants.
Viktor Melnychuk, war veteran and teacher of the subject Defense of Ukraine, became the new director of Rivne Lyceum №27. At the end of 2022, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defended the borders in Maryinsk region. After an injury received at the front, he returned home. In the summer, he applied for the position of director, and the education department commission unanimously elected him.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil servicemen will receive funds to purchase the necessary equipment. In 2024, 3,198 servicemen received funds.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
An annual patriotic event was held in Khmelnytskyi – the race I Honor Soldiers, I Run For Heroes of Ukraine. This year, almost 600 participants took part in the race in the regional center.
Chernivtsi oblast
Since the beginning of the year, 500 bodies of repatriated Ukrainian soldiers have been brought to Chernivtsi. Most of them were killed as a result of explosive trauma. However, there are also bodies without any injuries. Viktor Bachynskyi, Head of Chernivtsi Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, suspects that these soldiers were poisoned by the russians with chemical substances. During the autopsy of such bodies, the workers fainted.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Klingbeil, Finance Minister, announced that Germany will provide Ukraine with EUR 9 bn annually.
Norway will allocate $685 m to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. Part of these funds will go to a joint project with Germany to finance 2 Patriot systems.
