Donetsk oblast
The Russian army is actively assaulting along the entire Pokrovsk sector of the frontline, in particular along the road from Pokrovsk to Dobropillia. The occupiers are striking this axis with drones, aviation, and artillery, said an officer of the separate “Typhoon” unit, call sign “Alex.” Russian forces are probing for weak points in the defense of Ukrainian troops in order to increase pressure there.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Russian army attacked six times over the past day. The occupiers carried out assaults near Siversk, Dronivka, and toward Riznykivka, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its morning briefing.
The highest number of battles over the past day occurred in the Pokrovsk sector—36 attacks. Near Kostiantynivka, the Defense Forces repelled 16 assaults.
At 10:50, the occupiers struck the private residential area of Kramatorsk with a Molniya-2 drone. Two residential houses were damaged. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties, the Military Administration reported.
The Defense Forces struck a repair unit of the 143rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian army in temporarily occupied Truzhenka, near Mariupol. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the extent of the damage is being clarified.

On December 24, police recorded 1,768 enemy shelling incidents.
Eight settlements came under fire: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Sloviansk, and the villages of Brusivka and Novopoltavka.

Luhansk oblast
Seven times, Russian forces shelled the positions of Ukrainian troops in our sector of the frontline with mortars. Automatic grenade launchers were used three times. On 16 occasions, the occupiers carried out combat missions using UAVs and FPV drones. The invaders attempted to advance near Novoiehorivka. Overall, in the Lyman and Sloviansk directions, they attacked 13 times.
In the so-called “LPR”, there is a significant shortfall in recruitment to the so-called people’s patrol units. They were supposed to be formed in each administrative-territorial unit—31 in total—with no fewer than 30 people in each. As of now, only 230 volunteers have signed up for 15 units, which is far less than half of the quota set by the Russians. This Soviet-style initiative has not yet gained popularity in the occupied territory, even though recruits are promised electric shockers and pepper spray to help police maintain public order—exclusively on an unpaid basis.
The occupiers are carrying out showcase “restoration” of destroyed housing and critical infrastructure only in large frontline cities, and even there the pace is slow. Smaller settlements remain devastated after assaults and neglected. For example, in Zolote, Katerynivka, Nyzhne, and nearby villages and settlements, electricity has been absent since spring 2022, when active hostilities were underway. Local residents say that Russia did not come to stay—it stepped through and forgot about their existence.
