Invaders continue to assault positions of Ukrainian defenders. There were 112 combat engagements on the front lines.
Border settlements suffer from artillery shelling from territory of the rf, including Kucherivka, Ryzhivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Bezsalivka, Malushyne, Volfyne, Bilokopytove, Ulanove in Sumy oblast; Bleshnia, Kliusy, Hirsk in Chernihiv oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks. Also, the opponent launched two airstrikes, dropped four GABs, and carried out 61 shellings, including one from MLRSs.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked positions of Ukrainian defenders nine times near Vovchanski Khutory, Prylipka and towards Vilcha and Izbytske. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks near Pishchane, Kruhliakivka and towards Petropavlivske, Novoplatonivka and Kupiansk; four more engagements are currently ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked 27 times near settlements Hrekivka, Novovodiane, Seredne, Ridkodub, Kolodiazi, Shandryholove, Zarichne and towards Stavky. Defense Forces stopped 19 attempts of the opponent to advance; battles continue in eight locations.
Towards Sloviansk, the battle is currently ongoing in the vicinity of Dronivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, there were no offensive actions.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the invader attacked 18 times in the vicinity of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar and towards Sofiivka. Six combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers made 20 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from occupied positions in areas of Shakhove, Pankivka, Nykanorivka, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka and Dachne. Five combat engagements continue.
Towards Oleksandrivka, russians attacked eight times near settlements Zelenyi Hai, Yalta, Tovste, Vorone and Rybne; three engagements are currently ongoing. Aviation struck settlement Prosiana.
Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian defenders stopped seven attempts of the enemy to advance in the vicinity of Varvarivka and Huliaipole; seven more engagements continue. Airstrikes hit settlements Vozdvyzhivka, Pryluky and Zaliznychne.
Towards Orikhiv, Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks in the vicinity of Mali Shcherbaky.
Towards Kherson, there were no combat engagements.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
There were 121 combat engagements in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attempted to break through defensive lines of our defenders seven times in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Dvorichanske, and Vilcha.
Towards Kupiansk, there was one enemy attack. Ukrainian defenders repelled assault operations near Hlushkivka.
Three settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under enemy strikes.
As a result of shelling in Prystin, Kupiansk community, a 63-year-old man was injured.
Medical personnel also provided assistance to a 57-year-old woman injured on December 24 during shelling in Kivsharivka, Kupiansk community.
Enemy actively deployed various types of weaponry across Kharkiv oblast:

Civilian infrastructure objects were damaged or destroyed:
▪️ in Kupiansk region, a private house was damaged (Prystin village);

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 61 people over the past 24 hours. 44 people remained. Since opening, a total of 15,738 people have registered at this point.
Donetsk oblast
According to the General Staff, near Kostiantynivka, the russian army launched 15 assaults. The occupiers attempted to advance near Sofiivka, Kleban-Byk, Pleshchiivka, and Oleksandro-Shultyne.
There were 28 engagements towards Pokrovsk, and the russian army carried out another 15 assaults towards Oleksandrivka.
Maksym Butolin, Chief Master Sergeant of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade, callsign “Molot” (Hammer), reports that Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from Siversk in northern Donetsk Oblast to level the front line. The withdrawal was organized. Russian troops entering the city are being eliminated by drones.
Over 1,000 russian drones were destroyed within the past 24 hours in the defense zone of the East Operational Command, specifically in Donetsk oblast. Additionally, Ukrainian forces struck 51 russian UAV operator crews.
Soldiers of the 7th Air Assault Corps destroyed several Russian “Ulan-2” SUVs near Pokrovsk. The Russian army only began deploying these logistics vehicles to the front in the fall of 2025.
On December 25, there were 1,592 enemy strikes.
Eight settlements came under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, and Sloviansk; the villages of Bilenke, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka and Hannivka.
Fourteen civilian objects were damaged or destroyed, including five residential buildings.
In Kostiantynivka, russians hit a civilian car with an FPV drone, killing one person and wounding two others.
A civilian was wounded and a vehicle damaged due to a russian drone attack in Druzhkivka.
In Kramatorsk, the occupiers struck with a Molniya-2 UAV, destroying a private home and a non-residential building.
In Sloviansk, non-residential premises were damaged following a drone attack.
The enemy dropped three KAB-250 guided aerial bombs on Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, damaging three apartment buildings.
In Mykolaivka, drone strikes damaged an infrastructure facility, while in Bilenke, a private home and a civilian car were hit.
Throughout 2025, SES (State Emergency Service) workers in Donetsk oblast rescued 18 people from under the rubble.
Luhansk oblast
Ukrainian defenders pushed back 14 russian attempts to advance towards Lyman and Sloviansk, with fighting reported near seven settlements. russian forces launched 19 mortar strikes and 13 strikes using UAVs and FPV drones.
Meanwhile, a notary shortage in the occupied territories is preventing people from claiming their inheritance within the required six-month window. One notary often covers multiple towns, making it nearly impossible for residents in areas seized in 2022 to finalize legal paperwork.
In Sievierodonetsk, “model renovations” are turning into destruction. Residents complain about the low quality of the work—paint on facades lasts only a few weeks, and in some places, it has begun to crumble and fall onto the sidewalks.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that in 2025, 2,572 buildings in the capital were damaged as a result of russian shelling. 64 buildings that sustained the most severe damage were included in the city’s recovery program. Overall, during the three years since the start of the full-scale invasion, 26 buildings have been rebuilt in Kyiv, four of them in 2025. Restoration work is currently ongoing at 38 additional sites. A total of 350 million hryvnias has been allocated from the city budget for housing recovery.
The Regional Military Administration reported that in Zazymia, on Christmas Day, a Veterans’ Space was opened—a place created to support, honor, and ensure the dignified return of Ukrainian Defenders and Defendresses to civilian life. This is the 14th veterans’ space opened in the oblast. More than 80,000 veterans currently live in Kyiv oblast, about 400 of them in the Zazymia community.
Six inclusive vehicles, purchased with funds from the regional budget, were handed over to veterans’ spaces in communities across Kyiv oblast. These vehicles will serve as social taxis for veterans, providing mobility, accessibility, and practical assistance in everyday life. Importantly, the vehicles will be operated by veterans themselves.
The Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) reported that in 2025, payouts under the city program “Care. Toward Kyiv Residents” exceeded 3 billion hryvnias. In addition to socially vulnerable groups, the program also provides assistance to Kyiv residents whose homes were damaged by missile attacks. Furthermore, within the framework of municipal social support programs, more than 1 billion hryvnias was paid in 2025 to Defenders and Defendresses of Kyiv for medical treatment, financial assistance, and support for military families.
Zhytomyr oblast
On December 26, a farewell ceremony was held at the St. Michael’s Cathedral in Zhytomyr for 4-year-old Kristina Soloviova. The girl died from injuries sustained during a russian drone attack on the night of December 23, 2025.
The medical building of the Zviahel Multidisciplinary Hospital in Zhytomyr oblast reported the completion of a major renovation of a radiation-protection shelter designed to accommodate 500 people. The facility has been equipped with medical and engineering infrastructure, including an operating room for emergency patients. In addition, during air-raid alerts, local residents can also take shelter there, as the facility has four independent entrances and separate designated areas for civilians.
A memorial plaque honoring 29-year-old Maksym Bulyhin, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who was killed defending Ukraine, will be installed on the façade of the private Or Avner Lyceum in Zhytomyr. Maksym studied at this educational institution from 2001 to 2012.
Sumy oblast
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, said, commenting on the situation in Hrabovske, that russian forces are unable to achieve advances or expand hostilities and are instead sustaining losses. According to him, no russian activity aimed at attacking Ukrainian positions was recorded on 25 December. Enemy activity related to attempts to advance into Ukrainian territory is concentrated within Khotin, Yunakivka and Krasnopillia communities.
Between the morning of 25 December and the morning of 26 December, russian forces carried out more than 60 attacks on 27 settlements across 14 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of shellings was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the day, the air-raid alert in the oblast lasted 5 hours 14 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:
- in Bilopollia community, a multi-storey residential building was damaged;
- in Krasnopillia community, a private residential house was destroyed;
- in Yunakivka community, a multi-storey residential building was damaged;
- in Hlukhiv community, a private household was damaged;
- in Esman community, two private residential houses were destroyed.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and public organisations, evacuated 10 people from border communities, including four children. These were residents of Bilopollia and Krasnopollia communities of Sumy region. According to the Regional Military Administration, 122 people relocated to safer areas over the past week.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on 26 December, russian forces attacked Semenivka town at least four times using FPV drones and Molniia-type UAVs. As a result, civilian infrastructure in the city was damaged. No casualties were reported.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that in a village of Koriukivka community, an FPV drone struck energy equipment on 25 December. As a result of the strike, some subscribers were left without electricity.
According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv RMA, as of the morning of 26 December, it became known that 10 people were injured as a result of a russian Heran UAV strike on a residential building in Chernihiv the previous day. An 80-year-old woman was killed. Nine people sustained injuries of varying severity, including three children. Two apartments were completely destroyed in the attack. Emergency search-and-rescue operations at the site of the russian strike have been completed, and municipal services continue working there. Broken windows have been covered with OSB boards, and water, electricity and gas supplies have been partially restored.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv region over the course of 25 December: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. In total, 21 strikes were recorded. The enemy carried out attacks using tube artillery (1 explosion), FPV drones (16 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (4 explosions). Semenivka and 10 villages came under fire.
Snovsk Mayor Oleksandr Medvediov reported that on the evening of 24 December in Snovsk, several drones struck PJSC “Shchorskyi Plant of Food Products,” also known under the brand name “Eco Food”. According to him, the administrative building and a finished-goods warehouse were damaged, and a 37-year-old employee was injured. The enterprise is currently not operating, as damage assessment and recovery works are ongoing. Most of the equipment remains intact.
Over the course of 25 December, State Emergency Service specialists detected and destroyed four explosive ordnance items in Chernihiv oblast. Sappers were deployed eight times to carry out their assigned tasks.
According to the Regional Military Administration, in 2025, eight shelters for educational institutions were built in Chernihiv oblast, and another 32 were modernized. As of now, 715 out of 785 educational institutions in the region — or 91% — are equipped with shelters. The level of coverage is 97% for general secondary education institutions, 94% for extracurricular education institutions, and 85% for preschool education institutions.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, announced that more than 19,500 households in Chernihiv oblast have already received financial assistance to purchase solid fuel, namely firewood. Each household received UAH 19,400. Priority assistance was provided to 4,737 families living within the 10-kilometer border zone.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council Mykola Lukashuk reported that in the evening, the occupiers struck Nikopol with a drone and shelled it with artillery.
According to updated information, another private house was damaged in Myrove community due to the attacks. During the day, the enemy attacked the district center, as well as Marhanets and Myrove communities. As a result of the artillery shelling in Nikopol, a 36-year-old woman was injured. Three apartment buildings, two private houses, four cars, a minibus, a supermarket, a shop, a power line, and infrastructure were damaged.
russian troops struck the Vasylkivka and Pokrovske communities with a GAB (guided aerial bomb) and UAVs. An 86-year-old woman was injured in the Vasylkivska community. Fires broke out. One private house was partially destroyed, and another was completely destroyed. Nine private houses, three outbuildings, and gas pipelines were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
Head of the thermal trauma and plastic surgery center Roman Chornopyshchuk reported that defender Ihor Krystapchuk suffered deep burns over 30% of his body, respiratory tract burns, and a traumatic brain injury as a result of a drone explosion in Donetsk oblast. Vinnytsia medics sustained his life for a week. The defender has now been sent abroad for treatment under the Medevac Ukraine program.
Poltava oblast
In Poltava, a farewell was held for defender Vitalii Yavtushenko. The warrior fell in battle on December 20, 2025, in the Sumy region. On December 3, the man had turned 47 years old.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that the russians attacked Uman with missiles. Six people were injured as a result of the shelling, including two children. There is destruction of residential infrastructure.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that on 25 December, the occupiers carried out 636 strikes on 29 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 16 airstrikes on Ternuvate, Mahdalynivka, Veselianka, Liubytske, Boikove, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Vozdvyzhivka, Bilohiria, Zelene, Verkhna Tersa, and Staroukrainka. 378 UAVs of various modifications, mostly FPV drones, attacked Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Rozumivka, Chervonodniprovka, Kanivske, Hryhorivka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Solodke, Zelene, and Dobropillia. Six MLRS strikes hit Lezhyne, Stepnohirsk, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Charivne, and Dobropillia. There were 236 artillery strikes on Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Solodke, Zelene, and Dobropillia. Twenty-six reports were received about damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities. One person was killed, and four were injured as a result of enemy attacks on Zaporizhzhia region.
On December 25, two fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia region as a result of russian shelling. The roof of a private residential building caught fire in the village of Kanivske, and rescuers extinguished a fire involving a cargo truck in the village of Rozumivka.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders stopped seven russian attempts to advance towards Varvarivka and Huliaipole, with seven more clashes still ongoing. The Defense Forces are repelling three enemy attacks in the viicnity of Mali Shcherbaky towards Orikhiv.
Mykolaiv oblast
Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, reported that on the night of 26 December, russian drones attacked a terminal in Mykolaiv oblast. According to him, the strike damaged a vessel flying the Liberian flag.
Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that on the night of 26 December, the enemy attacked the city of Mykolaiv and its suburbs with several strike drones, preliminarily identified as Molniya-type UAVs. As a result of the attack, a partial power outage affected consumers in Mykolaiv region. Power was restored for almost all consumers.
In addition, on the evening of 25 December, the russian army struck the city of Ochakiv, preliminarily using MLRS. Eleven private houses and eight vehicles were damaged. The enemy also attacked Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities four times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.
Odesa oblast
According to Odesa Regional Military Administration, tonight, on 26 December, the enemy attacked Odesa oblast with strike drones. Izmail and Odesa regions, as well as the city of Odesa, were attacked. The airstrikes caused new damage to energy and port infrastructure facilities. Fires broke out, and administrative buildings, equipment, and machinery were damaged.
As a result of the nighttime enemy attack, the premises of a polyclinic were damaged in the city of Izmail: more than 30 windows were shattered, interior doors and part of the roof were damaged. The facility is operating on generators. Medical assistance, including examinations and diagnostics, is being provided in full.
As reported by Bolhrad City Council, memorial plaques were unveiled at Vynohradivskyi Lyceum in Odesa oblast in honor of fallen graduates Heorhii Vachev, Roman Dimov, and Heorhii Adam. The right to unveil the memorial plaques was given to the families of the fallen servicemen.
Kherson oblast
According to the Police of Kherson oblast, russian aggressors attacked civilian infrastructure in Kherson and Beryslav regions, using artillery, mortars,MLRS, and various types of UAVs. The affected settlements included Kherson, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Prydniprovske, Stanislav, Veletenke, Shyroka Balka, Bilozerka, Romashkove, Yantarne, Sofiivka, Kyselivka, Zelenivka, Oleksandrivka, Sadove, Chornobaivka, Beryslav, Mylove, Dudchany, Osokorivka, Khreshchenivka, Ukrainka, Kozatske, and Vesele. 46 objects were damaged, including three apartment buildings, 19 private houses, critical infrastructure facilities, an educational institution, two shops, three retail kiosks, an office building, four vehicles, gas pipelines, an outbuilding, a summer kitchen, a garage, and a tractor. One person was killed, and seven were injured as a result of russian aggression.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Since the morning, the air raid alert has been sounded twice in Kamen-Kashyr and Kovel region and once in Lutsk. Enemy fighters again attacked the critical infrastructure of Volyn. There were no injuries or deaths. Currently, about 8,000 subscribers are without power supply. Restoration work is ongoing.
Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA, in partnership with UNDP, held a meeting with entrepreneurs from the oblast in the format of a Dialogue Between Government And Business. They discussed the development of entrepreneurship in the oblast, its achievements and its contribution to the growth of the region’s economy over the past few years.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that last year, 185 families of Defenders in the Carpathian region received state assistance for the purchase of housing for a total amount of over UAH 318m.
Lviv oblast
A charity event A Gift for a Warrior, was held at Zhvyrkiv School. Students, teachers and parents actively participated in the collection. Thanks to joint efforts, separate thematic contributions were formed, which covered a wide range of necessities: from hot drinks and warm clothing to hygiene products, medicines and vital equipment.
At Luhovsky Family Gymnasium, 5th-graders and the student government organized a St. Nicholas Day celebration. During the event, they raised UAH 8,150 to repair a vehicle for the 1st Battalion of the 24th King Danylo Brigade for the Mobile Air Defense Fire Group.
Rivne oblast
This year, 868 internally displaced persons arrived in the oblast for residence. In order to accommodate the evacuated population from Donetsk oblast, territorial communities are working to deploy additional places for settlement.
Ternopil oblast
In Ternopil, a memorial service, The Light of Prayer in the Darkness of War, was held near the Memorial Stele To Soldiers Who Were Killed for the Freedom of Ukraine. The event was attended by clergy, relatives of the deceased, government officials and residents to honor the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council allocated UAH 5m to begin work on the building that was damaged by the explosion. Funds were allocated for current repairs in the housing and communal services, because during wartime, capital repairs are not carried out.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that senior soldier Volodymyr Khrystyanin was awarded with the For Military Service Medal (posthumously).
