Since the beginning of the day, there have been 52 combat engagements on the front.
The enemy, from the territory of the Russian Federation, carried out artillery shelling on the areas of Huta-Studenetska and Yasna Polyana in Chernihiv region; Ryzhivka, Rohizne, Iskryskivshchyna, and Neskuchne in Sumy region. In addition, the enemy conducted airstrikes on the settlements of Ulanove and Novovasylivka.
In the North-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, the enemy twice attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders, carried out three airstrikes dropping six bombs, and conducted 76 shellings of settlements and our units’ positions, including four using multiple rocket launch systems.
In the South-Slobozhansky direction, the enemy attacked seven times in the areas of Prylipka, Vovchanski Khutory, Dvorichanske, and towards Izbytske, Hryhorivka, and Kolodiazne. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy is attempting to advance toward Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Kupiansk. Four enemy attacks have already been repelled by the defense forces.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy attacks in the areas of Novoselivka, Stavky, and Shandryholove.
In the Sloviansk direction, fighting is ongoing in the area of Siversk.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no combat engagements have been recorded at this time.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the invaders carried out seven offensive actions near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, and Sofiivka. One attack is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, during the day the enemy attempted 11 times to advance toward our positions near Ivanivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and Filiya. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the aggressor attacked three times in the areas of Zlahoda, Krasnohirsk, and Pryvilne. At present, two combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy attacks near Solodke and Huliaipole, with four combat engagements still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, no enemy offensive actions have been recorded at this time.
In the Prydniprovsk direction, the defense forces repelled one enemy attack near the Antonivskyi Bridge.
No significant changes in the situation have been recorded in other directions at present.
Ukrainian forces continue to wear down the enemy along the entire line of engagement and in the rear.
Over 11 months of 2025, the number of civilian deaths is 26% higher than in the same period of 2024 and 70% higher than in 2023. According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Commission report, at least 226 civilians were killed in November this year, and another 952 were injured. Nearly half of the casualties occurred in frontline regions, where the main threats are short-range drones, artillery, and airstrikes.
Some 34,500 civilians remain in the combat zone in Donetsk region. In total, 193,000 civilians are in areas of Donetsk region under Ukrainian control. This concerns settlements in 21 territorial communities, with Druzhkivka TC recently added to this list. Since February 2022, more than 1.3 million people have been evacuated from settlements in Donetsk region under Ukrainian control.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
russian forces attacked seven times in the areas of Prylipka, Vovchanski Khutory, Dvorichanske, and toward Izbytske, Hryhorivka, and Kolodiazne. As of 16:00, three combat engagements are ongoing, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Four enemy attacks were repelled by the Defense Forces toward Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Kupiansk.
Over the past 24 hours, 126 combat engagements were recorded.
In the South-Slobozhansky direction, the enemy attempted four times to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders in the area of Prylipka and toward Hryhorivka.
In the Kupiansk direction, six enemy attacks took place yesterday. Our defenders repelled enemy assaults near Kruhlivka and toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane.
In Kharkiv, three Russian soldiers were tried in absentia for allegedly looting a civilian car and threatening local residents during the temporary occupation of Izium, Kharkiv region, reported SBU regional spokesperson Vladyslav Abdula. The convicted individuals are currently being sought.
The Russian army attacked Zolochiv with a “Molniya” UAV around 11:10, according to the head of Zolochiv community, Viktor Kovalenko. The strike damaged houses and outbuildings in four households, as well as power networks. No casualties were reported.
Around 14:45, Russian forces struck Zolochiv a second time, reportedly with a “Molniya” UAV. According to Kovalenko, the drone hit the ground in an open area, and no one was injured.
Russian forces reportedly struck an energy facility in the suburbs of Kharkiv with a “Tornado-S” MLRS around 05:30 in the morning, according to the regional prosecutor’s office. The weapons used in follow-up strikes around 10:30 are being determined. Nine people were injured as a result of the Russian attack—employees of the facility—and one person was killed, with four more injured, at a nearby transport enterprise. After the attack, the metro was temporarily stopped, ground transport faced disruptions, and energy providers implemented emergency power outage schedules for households.
In Slobidskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kharkiv, Russian forces targeted critical infrastructure in the evening, which provides residents with heat and hot and cold water, reported Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
One person was injured as a result of a Russian strike in Shevchenkivskyi district, according to preliminary data from the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synehubov.
Over the past 24 hours, 11 settlements in Kharkiv region were hit by enemy attacks.
Medical personnel provided assistance to a 48-year-old woman who was injured on December 20 during the shelling of Izium.

▪ Izium district: power networks (Savyntsi), car (Studenok);
▪ Chuhuiv district: shop and 2 cars (Staryi Saltiv).
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 103 people over the past day. 31 people remain. Since the opening of the point, a total of 15,562 people have been registered.
In Kharkiv, a decision was made to dismantle three more buildings damaged by Russian strikes, according to the city council press service. The degree of damage to these structures is estimated at 81%.
On Christmas Eve, eight women from Kharkiv walked along Sumska Street with carols and performed near the opera theater to raise funds for drones for the 161st brigade. Despite the absence of electricity from 9 a.m., participants decided to support local residents and maintain local traditions. According to the organizers, the goal of the event was not only to create a festive atmosphere but also to help the military defending Kharkiv region.

Donetsk oblast
Near Siversk,russian forces have intensified attempts at “infiltration,” using fog as natural cover. The Russian army is sending small assault groups of 1–2 personnel to move between Ukrainian positions, gather, and launch attacks from the flanks and rear, said Petro Melnyk, head of the workshop of the UAV Battalion “Apache” of the 81st Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade of the Air Assault Forces.
In the Kramatorsk direction, russian forces are increasing “creeping advances” in small groups under the cover of bad weather, trying to bypass forward positions. There are currently no signs of preparation for mechanized assaults, according to Mykhailo Trach, commander of the UAV battalion of the 30th OMBR.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, within the responsibility zone of the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade, russian units are constantly attempting assaults with small infantry groups, using mortars, artillery, and FPV drones. According to the brigade’s press officer, Dmytro Zinyuk, on December 22 a large-scale assault was thwarted thanks to prior reconnaissance and engineering work, which identified possible enemy routes and mined approaches. Despite attempts to exploit weather conditions, the advance was stopped and enemy forces were neutralized.
On December 22, russian forces carried out a massive assault in the Pokrovsk direction but suffered significant losses: at least six tanks, nine BMPs, armored personnel carriers, and dozens of personnel were destroyed. According to the 14th Brigade, the enemy uses tanks, armored vehicles, motorcyclists, and conducts so-called “banzai attacks”—assaults with minimal support, turning the attackers into targets for drones. At the same time, other groups attempt flanking maneuvers. Unusual methods of movement have also been observed, including the use of horses.
On the night of December 24, russian forces attempted to cross the Siverskyi Donets River, but soldiers of the UAV Battalion of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade detected and destroyed a motorized rubber boat, preventing a landing of infantry.
According to the General Staff, russian forces reduced the number of attacks on all directions in Donetsk and Luhansk regions over the past day.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 34 assaults yesterday in the areas of Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novoserhiivka, Horiakhove, and Dachne.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, russian forces conducted 16 attacks, while in the Lyman direction the Russian army attacked five times.
At 08:15, Russian forces used an “Italmas” UAV to strike an open area at a gas station, damaging a public transport bus, according to the local military administration.
On December 24, russian forces shelled Kostiantynivka with an FPV drone. Two civilians on the street were injured, reported the head of the local military administration, Horbunov. Despite their injuries, the victims were able to reach a medical facility in Druzhkivka on their own, where they are receiving necessary treatment.

On December 23, the police recorded 1,823 enemy strikes along the front line and in residential areas.
Nine settlements came under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk; the urban-type settlement of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka; and the villages of Zoloti Prudy and Rubtsi.
Nineteen civilian objects were damaged, including 11 residential houses.
In Lyman, one person was killed and another injured due to enemy attacks. A civilian car was also damaged.
In Kostiantynivka, Russian forces struck with FPV drones, injuring three civilians and damaging a car.
In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, one person was injured during a drone attack.
In Sloviansk, an “Italmas” UAV strike damaged an infrastructure facility.
Kramatorsk was hit by drones, resulting in damage to two private houses and a workshop.
In Druzhkivka, the enemy targeted the settlement with an “Italmas” UAV, damaging six private houses.
As of now, 2,420 people remain in Lyman, Donetsk region, according to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
In 11 settlements of Donetsk region where forced evacuation of families with children is ongoing, 794 minors remain. The largest number of children is in the Druzhkivka community, reported acting head of the Children’s Services, Yuliia Ryzhakova. Children also need to be evacuated from Serhiivka in the Andriivka community, which was not previously included in the evacuation list.
Currently, 238 people remain in Siversk, Donetsk region, from which Ukrainian forces have withdrawn. Before the full-scale invasion, the city had a population of 13,500, according to Oleksii Vorobiov, head of the Siversk Military Administration.
Russian occupation authorities in Mariupol have canceled New Year performances at the so-called “restored” drama theater. According to the Mariupol City Council, the performances have been moved to the philharmonic building, with no explanation given for the decision. It is worth recalling that in 2022, the drama theater, where hundreds of people were hiding, was destroyed by a Russian army strike; according to the prosecutor’s office, hundreds of civilians were killed, although the exact number of victims cannot be determined due to the city’s occupation.
Luhansk oblast
The Defense Forces destroyed a regimental-level logistics and supply depot in occupied Luhansk, the General Staff reported.
Russian occupation forces are actively using the former “Transpele” base (LLC “Laa-Trans”) in Luhansk, which was already struck in June 2024, according to the movement “ATESH.” Despite the lack of any reconstruction work and the destroyed buildings, the occupiers are again bringing equipment onto the base. New military vehicles and covered trucks have been observed on the grounds and among the remains of the destroyed infrastructure.
Ukrainian defenders repelled six attempts by Russian units to advance in the Lyman and Sloviansk directions, including in the areas of four settlements. The enemy actively used tube artillery, mortars, and drones.
Meanwhile, on December 31, the validity of Ukrainian passports and documents issued by the so-called “LPR” in the occupied territories expires, which may serve as a pretext for pressure and repressive actions by Russian security forces. In a number of frontline towns in the region, where there is no communication or internet, incidents of looting under the guise of “restoration work” continue.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The head of the Svyatoshinsky District State Administration, Georgy Zantaraia, reported that as of 17:00 on 23 December, in the Svyatoshinsky district of the capital and in the surrounding apartments, 210 windows had been covered in the building damaged by UAV debris. Kyiv residents submitted 49 applications under the ‘Care’ programme. Restoration work is continuing on site. A coordination headquarters is also operating, receiving appeals from residents, providing advice and coordinating further actions.

The Agency for Reconstruction reported that new residential building construction is underway in Borodianka on the site of the building destroyed during the hostilities at 353 Tsentralna Street. The new nine-storey building will have 103 apartments with modern layouts. It will be energy efficient and inclusive.
Today, there are 100,000 veterans and nearly 300,000 family members of defenders registered in the capital. The city provides them with support and comprehensive assistance through the city’s targeted programme ‘Support for Kyiv Defenders of Ukraine’. This year, the programme has financed UAH 1.3 billion for various support and material compensation measures.
This year, Kyiv has allocated more than UAH 12 billion from the city budget to help the military, veterans and their families. In addition to financing social programmes, the city systematically helps combat units by allocating funds for the most necessary items for the military.
Kyiv hospitals have practised their emergency response procedures. The training was conducted by the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Health in cooperation with the National Police and the State Emergency Service. The training sessions involved scenarios that were as close as possible to real-life situations.
On 23 December 2025, Ukrposhta, together with the Solomyanski Kotyky charity fund, organised a blood donation drive for the military at the Main Post Office building in Kyiv. About 100 donors joined the initiative, including Ukrposhta employees and all interested Kyiv residents. Blood was collected by medics from the Kyiv Regional Blood Service Centre.
In Vorzel, together with Michael Brodsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine, a modern water purification system was launched, donated by Israeli partners as humanitarian aid. The Vorzel school now has a reliable source of quality drinking water for students and teachers.
The German Embassy in Ukraine reported that on Christmas Eve, employees of the German, British and French embassies, together with artists from Open Opera Ukraine and the National House of Music, sang ‘Shchedryk’ in the Kyiv metro as a sign of unity with Ukrainians.
Zhytomyr oblast
The Regional Military Administration reported that the enemy has been terrorising Zhytomyr oblast with air strikes for the third day in a row. There were no casualties or injuries last night. Critical infrastructure facilities were targeted, including sites where the aftermath of previous kamikaze drone strikes was being cleared up. The enemy is terrorising the civilian population, rescuers and repair workers, trying to prevent the restoration of critical infrastructure.
Korosten Mayor Volodymyr Moskalenko reported that on the morning of 24 December, russia attacked a substation belonging to one of the enterprises in Korosten. As a result of the strike, a microdistrict of the city was left without heat. Rescuers worked at the scene to extinguish the fire that broke out as a result of the explosion.
The Solovyov family, who lost their four-year-old daughter as a result of the russian attack on 23 December and whose house was completely destroyed, will receive 100,000 hryvnias from the Zhytomyr community budget. The decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee of the Zhytomyr City Council. City services are providing the necessary support to the affected family.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that passenger trains are still running around Korosten, where trains derailed a few days ago due to a Russian Shahed.
For two weeks in Berdychiv, community residents underwent a 48-hour training course in national resistance. During the final field exercise, 20 participants performed shooting exercises with AK-74 rifles. For the fifth month, the team of the Zhytomyr Regional Centre for Training Citizens for National Resistance has been teaching citizens military skills and survival skills in wartime conditions. During this period, more than 200 residents of the oblast have completed the course.
Sumy oblast
On the morning of 24 December the General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian forces repelled one russian attack over the past day. russian troops carried out two airstrikes using eight guided bombs and conducted 153 shelling attacks, including two by multiple launch rocket systems.
Between the morning of 23 December and the morning of 24 December 2025, russian forces launched more than 40 attacks on 26 settlements across 16 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs.
Consequences of russian shelling in the oblast as of the morning of 24 December:
- In Myropillia community, a 59-year-old man was killed in artillery fire.
- In Shostka community, a 48-year-old man was injured in a UAV strike; a civilian infrastructure facility and a non-residential building were damaged.
- A 56-year-old man sought medical care after being injured on 22 December in a UAV strike on Seredyna-Buda community.
- In Sumy community, private houses and vehicles were damaged.
- In Konotop community, an apartment building and cars were damaged.
- In Khmeliv community, private households were damaged.
- In Richky community, non-residential buildings and a car were damaged.
- In Krasnopillia community, a car was damaged.
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, a private household was damaged.
During the day, 20 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and civic organisations.
According to the Regional Military Administration, more than 16,000 residents of the 5-kilometre border zone of Sumy oblast were subject to evacuation. Most decided to leave, while about 4,000 people remain, refusing evacuation. The largest share of residents who have not yet evacuated from areas closest to the border are in communities of Shostka region.
In Romny region, with the initiative and support of a local entrepreneur, dozens of houses were built and equipped for internally displaced persons. Those provided with shelter receive comprehensive assistance, including housing, adaptation, and employment opportunities.
Serhii Kryvosheenko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, announced that in 2025, Sumy’s main funding priorities were security and defence, social protection, veteran policy, healthcare, education, critical infrastructure, and civil protection. A total of UAH 345m. was spent on defence. More than UAH 400m. is planned for 2026.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihivoblenergo reported that as a result of a russian attack on 24 December targeting a key energy facility in Chernihiv region, tens of thousands of subscribers were left without power. Energy workers will begin emergency repair operations once the security situation allows.
Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv Military Administration, said that at midday on 24 December, during an air raid alert, a UAV crash was recorded in Chernihiv within the city limits, on the territory of an enterprise. Vehicles were damaged, but no casualties were reported. The City Council stated that the strike damaged the façade and window glazing of an administrative building, a garage, eight cars, and a passenger bus.
On the morning of 24 December the City Council informed that following the russian attack on Chernihiv, infrastructure damage was reported at two locations in the city. The damage included private houses, a five-storey building, and educational institutions. As of 7am, firefighters continued to extinguish a blaze in a utility building.
According to Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv Military Administration, during the attack on Chernihiv on the evening of 23 December, a russian UAV struck the ninth floor of a multi-storey residential building. The strike caused a fire and shattered windows.
The City Council reported that on the evening of 23 December, another russian drone strike was recorded in Chernihiv, hitting a critical infrastructure facility. As a result, part of the city was left without power. According to the Regional Military Administration, emergency repair work was ongoing in the city as of the morning of 24 December.

According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, on 23 December, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. A total of 78 strikes were recorded. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (17 explosions), artillery fire (10 explosions), grenade launcher attacks (10 explosions), UAV strikes (2 hits), FPV drone attacks (38 explosions), and dropped an explosive device from a UAV (1 explosion). Sixteen settlements came under enemy fire.
As a result of the russian attack in Semenivka, administrative buildings of the City Council and the municipal cultural centre were damaged.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
In Nikopol region, on the evening of 23 December, the enemy attacked Nikopol by a drone and shelled the city by artillery. An apartment building was damaged. Updated reports state that a sports school in Nikopol was damaged, while in Pokrovske community a private house and an outbuilding were affected.
Throughout the day, russian forces attacked the regional centre, as well as Marhanets, Pokrovske, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities by artillery and drones. A 45-year-old man was injured and will be treated at home. A fire broke out, destroying an outbuilding. Damage was recorded to seven private houses, two apartment buildings, two cafés, a lyceum, two outbuildings, an enterprise and two gas pipelines.
In Kryvyi Rih region, the occupiers shelled Zelenodolsk community by artillery. No casualties were reported.
In Synelnykove region, updated information confirms that a guided aerial bomb strike on Pokrovske community destroyed one private house, damaged ten more, and affected a car and an outbuilding.
Vinnytsia oblast
It has been reported that thirteen defenders from Vinnytsia oblast have been killed. Among them are Oleksandr Nivin, Volodymyr Ratushniak, Oleksii Mirchuk, Andrii Zaiets, Mykhailo Ferents, Ivan Surzhok, Serhii Dobrynin, Kostiantyn Ostrovskyi, Oleksandr Trykiz, Leonid Pobihushchyi, Ivan Kapushchak, Mykola Kovtiuk and Serhii Hrechaniuk.
Kirovohrad oblast
Kirovohrad oblast paid tribune to servicemen Oleksandr Kupianskyi from Ustynivka community and Yurii Khlivnyi from Svitlovodsk town. Yurii Khlivnyi was killed on 18 June 2024 in combat near Heorhiivka village in Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast. Oleksandr Kupianskyi was killed on 12 April 2025 in Luhansk oblast.
Oleksandrivka, Kropyvnytskyi region paid tribune to Vitalii Denysiuk. He was killed on 30 June 2024 near Myrne village in Polohy region, Zaporizhzhia oblast, and had since been considered missing.
According to Viktoriia Lysenko, Pryiutivka Settlement Council secretary, in Pryiutivka, Oleksandriia region, a second municipal solar power station has been built. Installed on the roof of the local outpatient clinic, it has a capacity of 20 kilowatts. The station will provide electricity for emergency medical services, the social protection office, housing and communal services, and the children’s services department.
Poltava oblast
In Kursk oblast, serviceman Yevhenii Kurylo from Zavodske community has been confirmed dead. Since March 2025, he had been considered missing. His death was verified through DNA analysis.
In Poltava community, defence funding in 2026 may increase compared to the previous year. According to the draft budget, expenditures could nearly double. The programme “Poltava Resistance” is allocated UAH 156.6m., while total spending planned for the Department of Civil Protection and Defence Work of Poltava Territorial Community amounts to almost UAH 202.9m.
For 54 general and secondary education institutions in Poltava, uninterrupted power supply systems are planned for purchase, including hybrid inverters and battery units. The community budget will allocate UAH 15 m. for this purpose.
Cherkasy oblast
In 2025, Cherkasy oblast experienced more than 855 air raid alerts, lasting a total of 1,460 hours.
Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that air defence forces intercepted a russian missile in Cherkasy region. Preliminary reports indicate that the blast wave damaged an educational institution, a garage cooperative and a local cemetery, where 150 monuments were destroyed. One man was hospitalised with injuries. In Cherkasy, documentation of the missile strike’s consequences is ongoing.
According to Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, as of 23 December, 140,000 internally displaced persons remain in Cherkasy oblast. Social programmes are in place to provide housing and support. Most arrivals are from Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, early in the morning on 24 December, the enemy once again attacked Zaporizhzhia. At least three strikes hit the regional center. As a result of the shelling, 13 apartment buildings were damaged. Four people were injured.
Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 23 December, the occupiers carried out 704 strikes on 27 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 17 air strikes on Zaporizhzhia, Liubytske, Novoiakovlivka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Kosivtseve, Sviatopetrivka, and Verkhnia Tersa. 408 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Rozumivka, Bilenke, Barvinivka, Novooleksandrivka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Novosoloshyne, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Solodke, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, and Vozdvyzhivka. Four MLRS strikes hit Huliaipole, Varvarivka, and Novoandriivka. 275 artillery strikes were carried out on Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Varvarivka, Solodke, and Dobropillia. Forty-one reports were received about damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities. One person was killed and three people were injured as a result of enemy strikes on Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia region.
According to information from the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 24 December, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine russian attacks near the settlements of Solodke and Huliaipole, with four more clashes still ongoing towards Huliaipole. Over the previous day, 23 December, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 17 russian attacks towrds Huliaipole and two towards Orikhiv.
Mykolaiv oblast
As reported by Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 23 December, the enemy attacked Chornomorka community with a strike drone (preliminarily identified as a Molniya-type UAV). As a result of the strike, a school roof caught fire in the village of Chornomorka.
Also yesterday, the enemy attacked Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities six times with FPV drones. As a result of one of the strikes, a building on the territory of a recreation base was damaged in the village of Parutyne. Ф private house and an outbuilding were damaged in the village of Dniprovske. There were no casualties.
Odesa oblast
Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that oily slicks were detected on the surface of the water in the Black Sea within the territory of Odesa region. The cause is damage to tanks containing sunflower oil as a result of enemy mass attacks on port infrastructure. The water area of the Pivdennyi port was temporarily closed until the consequences of the vegetable oil spill are fully eliminated. The Odesa Zoo takes in birds for rehabilitation affected by oil entering the water.
Kherson oblast
As reported by Kherson Regional Military Administration, on 24 December at approximately 08:30 russian invaders shelled Kherson downtown. Two people were injured, sustaining concussions, shrapnel wounds to the limbs, blast injuries, and closed traumatic brain injuries.
Police of Kherson oblast reported that yesterday, 23 December, russian forces shelled the right bank of Kherson oblast using artillery, mortars, MLRS, and various types of UAVs. The settlements affected by enemy attacks included Kherson, Kizomys, Antonivka, Sofiivka, Prydniprovske, Dniprovske, Bilozerka, Tomyna Balka, Molodizhne, Nadiivka, Veletenke, Sadove, Komyshany, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Oleksandrivka, Beryslav, Novoraisk, Kamiane, Pervomaiske, Dudchany, Shevchenkivka, Bila Krynytsia, Davydiv Brid, Bilousove, Rivnopillia, Nova Shesternia, Chervone, Kozatske, and Vesele. A multi-apartment building and two private houses, critical infrastructure facilities, one medical and two educational institutions, a utility enterprise, a factory production workshop, a trolleybus line, a church, and a vehicle were damaged. Two people were killed and one was injured zs a result of russian attacks.
According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 24 December, the Defense Forces repelled one enemy attack near the Antonivskyi Bridge towards Kherson.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk City Council reported that in accordance with the order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Sergeant Koval Oleksandr was awarded the For Wounding medal.
Zakarpattia oblast
This year, almost UAH 15m was allocated to support the 33 Separate Mechanized Brigades. Of these, UAH 2.5 m came from the regional budget.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
35 quadcopters of several types with a total value of over UAH 6.7m were sent to the 102nd Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces. The funds were allocated from the regional budget within the framework of programs to support the region’s military formations.
Lviv oblast
Zhovtanetsk community and the religious community of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Brisbane purchased and donated FPV drones to the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis.
A charity event was held in the People’s House of the village of Sukhovolya, Zimnovodivskaya community, during which funds were jointly raised for the 144th brigade. The initiators of the event were the VAM CF and the Teatralyk acting studio.
Rivne oblast
A working meeting was held at the Department of Veterans Policy. The meeting was dedicated to the issues of receiving monetary compensation for the purchase of housing for veterans who have been discharged from service and have received a disability.
Ternopil oblast
The 37th Separate Marine Brigade received a modern ground robotic complex Murakha from Ternopil City Council. This is a specialized vehicle for evacuating the wounded, conducting reconnaissance, and delivering ammunition in dangerous areas.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 65 family members of the deceased from Khmelnytskyi community will receive financial assistance. The total amount of assistance is UAH 1.5m.
Chernivtsi oblast
The budget of Chernivtsi community for 2026 will be UAH 4.9bn. Of this, UAH 1.5bn will be allocated to security and defense.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The Netherlands has allocated EUR 250m euros for ammunition for the F-16. Dick Schoof, Prime Minister, also promised to provide Ukraine with additional defense assistance worth EUR 700m.
