War in Ukraine today: latest news, 24 October, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 974 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

Ukraine’s defence forces are holding back russian occupiers’ offensive and taking all necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory. On 24 October, the number of combat engagements was 101. 

Communities of Novenke, Loknia, Basivka, Kniazhychi, Turia, Shalyhine in Sumy oblast and Leonivka in Chernihiv oblast suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire. 

In addition, russians conducted airstrikes with anti-aircraft gunships in the vicinity of Basivka, Bilovody and Velyka Pysarivka. 

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian units seven times in the vicinity of Starytsia. 

Towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers attacked the Ukrainian Armed Forces eight times in the vicinity of Holubivka, Pishchane, Lozova, Kruhliakivka and Vyshneve. Five firefights are still ongoing. Enemy aircraft attacked Petropavlivka, Andriivka and Kupyansk with sixteen NARs and four KABs. 

Towards Lyman, the invading army made 21 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzheliubivka, Katerynivka, Hrekivka, Tverdokhlibove, Terny, Zarichne, Torske and Serebrianka, two of which are still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the line and inflicting losses on the enemy. 

Towards SIversk, near Vyimka, the enemy tried to break through the defences of Ukrainian positions once. The situation is under control of the Ukrainian defenders. 

Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian units repelled two attacks by russian invaders near Chasiv Yar and Predtechyne. 

Towards Toretsk, the aggressor carried out four air strikes, dropping seven guided aerial bombs on residential areas and civilian infrastructure of Toretsk.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 30 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of Myroliubivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Krasnyi Yar, Selydove, Sukhyi Yar, Mykolaivka, Krutyi Yar and Mykhailivka. Ukrainian defence forces are holding back the attack and repelled 28 enemy attacks, two combat engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Kurakhove, the enemy army attacked 10 times towards the settlements of Novodmitrivka, Zoriane, Kreminna Balka, Novomykolayivka, Maksymilianivka, Antonivka, Katerynivka and Kostiantynivka. Nine occupiers’ attempts to advance were repelled.

Towards Vremivka, two enemy attacks occurred in the near Bohoiavlenka.

Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack near Novodanylivka, while the enemy used attack aircraft near Mali Shcherbaky.

In Kursk oblast, enemy aircraft continue to raze villages and towns to the ground. russian aircraft carried out 16 airstrikes with 18 KABs on their own territory.

There were no major changes in other areas.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, near the city of Selidove in Donetsk oblast, russian troops killed 4 Ukrainian prisoners of war. The prosecutor started an investigation on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that towards Pokrovsk, the russian army is increasing pressure on the town of Selydove. There were 38 russian attacks on this part of the front, most of them in the direction of Selydove.

Towards Kurakhove, russian troops continue to attack, where there were 34 assaults. Most of them are near Katerynivka and Kreminna Balka.

Another 12 times the occupiers tried to advance Lyman. russians were moving towards Terny, Torske and Serebrianka.

Kharkiv oblast

The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported that as for 16:00 owards Kharkiv sector, Russians attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops seven times in the vicinity of Starytsia.

Towards Kupiansk, russia conducted eight assaults near Holubivka, Pishchane, Lozova, Kruhlyakivka and Vyshneve, with five clashes still ongoing.

Russian aviation struck Petropavlivka, Andriivka and Kupiansk with 16 NARs and four CABs.

Towards Lyman, russian army launched 21 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzhelyubivka. Two battles are ongoing.

Around 10:00am, the occupiers attacked the city of Kupiansk. The enemy hit near a shop and a local market. A woman in serious condition was unblocked from under the rubble. As a result of the airstrike, 11 people were injured. A two-storey commercial building was partially destroyed, 12 commercial stalls and window glazing of non-residential buildings were damaged. According to preliminary data, russians used thermobaric ammunition ODAB-1500.

Volodymyr Tymoshko, Kharkiv Region Police Chief, says that in the afternoon, unexploded barrage ammunition based on an FPV drone was found in Kupiansk;

Seven houses, outbuildings and a garage were damaged due to last night’s KAB attack on the garden in Bezruky, and due to the X-38 hitting Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi road in the morning of October 23, the crossing was damaged;

The General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that the number of russian assaults towards Kharkiv on 24 October increased to nine. Towards Kupiansk, the Defense Forces repelled all nine attacks of the occupiers near Pishchane, Kruhliakivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Lozova, Vyshneve, and Pershotravneve;

According to the Regional State Emergency Service, fires due to shelling were not dealt with. Pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service defused 103 explosive objects.

Donetsk oblast

The northern and eastern outskirts of Selydove are a ‘grey zone’, street fighting continues in the town,‘ said Vitalii Milovidov, a spokesman for the 15th Kara-Dag Brigade of the National Guard. “russian troops continue to ”infiltrate’ the outskirts of the town in small groups, accumulate and try to advance further. The town of Selydove is now most likely to be the priority, where the maximum number of enemy is concentrated.

The regional prosecutor’s office said that the russian army struck at the Nova Poshta post office in Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka in Donetsk oblast. The village was shelled around 16:30. As of now, it is known that two men aged 19 and 21 were killed, and another man is in hospital with a mine-blast injury. A search and rescue operation is underway at the site of the attack, and the State Emergency Service is extinguishing the fire.

Three people were killed as a result of today’s shelling of Pokrovske community,’ said the head of Donetsk RMA Vadym Filashkin. Men aged 58 and 65 were killed in Zelene village, a 63-year-old woman in Dachanske, and houses were damaged.

Four residents of Donetsk oblast were injured as a result of russian bomb, drone and artillery strikes. The police recorded 2,456 enemy shelling attacks on the front line and the residential sector. 8 settlements were under fire: the cities of Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Lyman, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Selidove, and the village of Novoukrainka. 22 civilian objects were damaged, including 18 residential buildings.

The enemy attacked Myrnohrad with a FAB-250 bomb with a UMPK module – 7 apartment buildings were destroyed and damaged.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that in Pokrovsk, a gas pipe in the northern part of the city was destroyed by russian shelling. 54 consumers remained without gas supply. The occupiers hit Pokrovsk yesterday. Two private houses were also damaged by shelling.

The occupiers shelled Kostiantynivka with artillery and a drone – one person was wounded, 2 apartment buildings, a boiler house, and two cars were destroyed.

russia hit Kurakhove with four anti-aircraft missiles – a civilian was injured, 5 apartment buildings and an administrative building were damaged.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the russian military killed four captured national guardsmen near Selidove in Donetsk oblast. On October 6, the russian army captured four NSU soldiers and recorded a video interrogating the wounded servicemen. The following day, the Defense Forces returned the positions and found the bodies of the killed National Guardsmen there.

Ivan Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, said that two new military bonds — Avdiivka and Debaltseve — have appeared in the Diia application. Earlier, in April 2024, Diia published a military bond in honour of the temporarily occupied Makiivka in Donetsk oblast.

Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, reports that in the vicinity of the temporarily occupied city, the russian army has intensified checks on the local population. The russian guard interrogates and searches people, prohibits them from moving freely.  The are carrying out the ‘cleansing’ because of the increase in the number of russian military bases near the city – about 5,000 soldiers are in training here.

Luhansk oblast

Residents of Balka Zhuravka were injured a few days ago. Both cases are related to the use of drones by the occupiers. First, russians carried out a drop on the civilian population, then the FPV drone exploded directly. A man born in 1970 has a mine-explosive injury to his foot and lower leg. A woman born in 1967 suffered shrapnel wounds to her chest. She also had a fracture of the lower jaw. The wounded were evacuated and taken to a hospital in Donetsk region.

On 23 October, the invaders supported by aviation carried out assaults near Hrekivka. An airstrike was also carried out on Tverdokhlibove. The enemy hit Balka Zhuravka with barrel artillery and drones.

In Siversko-Donetsk and surrounding villages, the occupiers discovered 22 non-residential real estate objects, which, according to them, “have signs of ownerless property.” The list includes shops, pharmacies, bank branches, industrial enterprises, leisure facilities and even funeral services bureaus.

All of them ceased operations during the storming of the city by russians in the spring of 2022 and have not worked since then. The remaining locals were aware of this all this time, but wanted to “nationalize” these objects right now. However, the owners were given a formal 30 days to show up at the local occupation administration with a russian passport, a certificate from the register of legal entities of the russian federation, and real estate documents. Property extraction continues.

Meanwhile, the level of provision of medical services in the city for more than two years since the seizure has practically not changed. The trauma center exists only formally. There is a person in a white coat in the room. However, when a patient presents with an injury that requires more intervention than the presence of a bandage or plaster, he or she is immediately sent to the nearest hospital in Novoaidar, which is 50 km away from the front line. 

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the regional military administration, reported that a transformer casing and windows in the buildings of two enterprises were damaged as a result of the falling debris from downed russian drones in Kyiv oblast. The alert was announced twice and lasted more than 9 hours. There were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure.

On the night of 24 October, about a dozen russian drones were spotted and neutralised in the airspace around Kyiv. According to Kyiv City Military Administration, this is the fourteenth air attack by russian armed forces on the capital since the beginning of October. The air alert was announced three times during the night and lasted almost 6 hours in total. There were no reports of damage or casualties.

Released from russian captivity five days ago, Maksym Butkevych, a human rights activist, journalist, soldier and co-founder of the Zmina Human Rights Centre, handed over a list of 30 imprisoned journalists and two human rights defenders to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This took place during the President’s meeting in Kyiv with representatives of NGOs working in the field of international politics, advocacy, human rights, security and defence. This is the first large-scale meeting of the President with civil society activists since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the Children of Heroes Charitable Foundation signed a memorandum of cooperation to support children who lost their parents during the war. The foundation takes care of more than 10,000 children from all over the country, including 853 from Kyiv oblast. These are the children of fallen soldiers, missing persons and civilians who died during shelling or occupation of Kyiv oblast.

A stamp dedicated to the Kraken special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate was presented in Kyiv. The special redemption ceremony took place on 22 October in the capital with the participation of the Kraken unit commander with the call sign Alpha. The collector’s stamp was issued in a limited symbolic edition of 972 copies – the number of days the large-scale war lasted at the time of the presentation. The creators of the stamp set focused on the important contribution of the Kraken special forces unit to the defence of Kharkiv and the region during the war against the russian invaders.

An exhibition of the art project Art through Awareness. Unbreakable was opened. The author of the project is People’s Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Koziuk, who, together with his colleagues, created a series of paintings that reflect the indomitable nature of the Ukrainian people.

On 25 October, the conference DisAut: How to knock manipulations out of the information field will take place, where, at the invitation of the Internews Ukraine NGO, representatives of NGOs, media and government agencies will gather to jointly find solutions to combat disinformation in the Ukrainian information space.

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the regional military administration, reports that over a thousand hectares have been cleared of mines and more than 14,000 pieces of ammunition have been destroyed in Zhytomyr oblast. In the first half of 2024 alone, bomb squads made 148 visits, cleared almost 20 hectares and defused more than 3,000 pieces of ammunition. Since the beginning of the war, oblast has been subjected to heavy shelling of critical infrastructure, residential buildings, forests and farmland. Particularly affected were 9 de-occupied settlements of the Narodychi community, which were densely mined.

The RMA informed about signing the memorandum on the development of business cooperation between Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration and the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland. During the meeting, the parties discussed concrete steps to develop cooperation between entrepreneurs in Zhytomyr and Poland, supplying Polish partners with products from Ukrainian enterprises, and plans to hold joint business events.

18 tonnes of chestnuts were collected by students from 43 educational institutions in Zhytomyr during the Chestnuts for the Armed Forces campaign. The raw materials were sold to processors, and the revenues of UAH 126 thousand will be used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The campaign has been held in Zhytomyr for three years in a row.

Sumy oblast

During night and morning, russians carried out 11 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 21 explosions. The attacks targeted Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, andShalyhyne communities.

On 23 October, russians carried out 39 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 140 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia,  Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Esman, Svesa, and Znob-Novhorod communities.

Velyka Pysarivka community: airstrikes (GAB) (2 explosions), grenade launcher attack (AGS) (45 explosions), FPV-drone attack (1 explosion).

Yunakivka community: the enemy hit by artillery (11 explosions), GAB (2 explosions).

Myropilia community: the russians hit by artillery (5 explosions).

Krasnopillia community: artillery shelling (5 explosions), mortar shelling (12 explosions), dropping of explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions).

Khotin community: the russians dropped 29 mines on the territory of the community.

Bilopillia community: shelling was carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle (of the Geran-2 type). A critical infrastructure facility was damaged and dry vegetation caught fire. In addition, there was an FPV-drone attack (1 explosion), a mortar attack (3 explosions) and the dropping of explosive devices from an UAV (1 explosion).

Esman community: the enemy hit by mortars (2 explosions), FPV-drones (4 explosions).

Svesa community: FPV-drones fired (2 explosions), attacks by MLPS (6 explosions).

Shalyhyne community: mortar shelling (2 explosions).

Znob-Novhorod community: artillery shelling (4 explosions).

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of Sumy Regional Administration informed that in 2024, the number of airstrikes on Sumy oblast has increased dramatically, with the use of guided aerial bombs rising by hundreds of times. Over the course of this year, 625 people have been affected by these attacks, including 42 children. The most heavily shelled areas are the Shostka and Sumy region.

Sumy RMA received humanitarian aid from the Republic of Moldova. The humanitarian cargo is provided for the needs of residents of the region and voluntary formations of territorial communities. Two twenty-ton trucks contain 10 pallets of food products, 2 tons of rice, medicines and medical products in assortment, 100 2-tier beds, 150 sets of body armour and 150 sets of winter military uniforms.

Chernihiv oblast

The russian forces targeted three border communities in Chernihiv oblast by mortar, barrel artillery. Border guards recorded 69 explosions. FPV-drones and UAVs were also attacked.

Semenivka community:

– 1 explosion (hit, probably the arrival of an FPV-drone) near Yanzhulivka village;

– 1 explosion (hit, probably by a 120mm mortar), near Mkhy;

– 3 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) near Leonivka village;

– 8 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) in the area of Hremiachka village;

– 1 explosion (hit, probably dropping an explosive device from an unmanned aerial vehicle) in the area of Karpovychi village;

– 5 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) and two explosions (hits, probably by barrel artillery) near Bleshnia village;

– 4 explosions (hits, probably by barrel artillery) near Zarichchia village;

– 1 explosion (hit, probably by barrel artillery) near  Karpovychi village;

– 10 explosions (hits, probably by barrel artillery) near Liskivshchyna village.

Snovsk community:

– 4 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) near Khrinivka village;

– 10 explosions (hits, probably from a 120 mm mortar) near Kliusy village;

– 7 explosions (hits, probably from barrel artillery) near Hirsk village.

 Horodnia community:

– 4 explosions (hits, probably by an 82mm mortar) in the vicinity of Senkivka,

– 2 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) in the vicinity of Senkivka

No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.

Chernihiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support reported that on 24 October, in Pryluky, a farewell ceremony was held for Ukrainian soldier Oleksandr Hartun, with the call sign Lom, who was killed in Donetsk oblast. On 18 October, he sustained fatal injuries while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that on 24 October, the enemy continued attacks on Nikopol region. The occupiers shelled Marhanets community by Grads. There were no injuries reported. Updated information indicates that 7 private houses, a business, an administrative building, a pharmacy, 6 outbuildings, 2 garages, 3 cars, 2 greenhouses and 3 power lines were damaged in Marhanets due to yesterday’s shelling.

On 24 October, the occupiers struck Nikopol region nearly 20 times. They targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities. The attacks included artillery fire, kamikaze drones and dropping munitions from drones. A high-rise building, a private house, a car, infrastructure and a power line were damaged.

In the central part of Dnipro, on Heroes of Maidan Square, an exhibition titled Faces of the Ukrainian Dream is being held. It features drawings by children affected by the war.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​In Vinnytsia, a literary and artistic evening was held for veterans undergoing rehabilitation. Members of the Poetry of the Unbreakable club recited poems and sang patriotic songs.

According to Vinnytsia City Council, a mobile, fully-equipped bath and laundry facility was handed over to the Ukrainian defenders. This time, the complex was provided to artillery units holding one of the hottest areas on the front line. The facility includes washing machines, showers, water heaters and a generator, ensuring the hygiene needs of the military are met.

Kirovohrad oblast

Alina Kabuzan, a displaced person from Sumy, fulfilled her dream by opening a grooming salon in Kropyvnytskyi. She received funds for her business by applying for a government grant program.

Poltava oblast

Near the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, a memorial service was held for fallen soldiers. These were Poltava natives Serhii Zainin and Anatolii Antonenko, who were killed in October while performing combat missions in Kursk oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that at night, defenders once again repelled enemy attacks. In total, 5 enemy strike drones were shot down.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

russian forces used assault aviation near Mali Shcherbaky village.

On 23 October, an russian attack was repelled by Ukrainian Defence Forces towards Orikhiv.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that on October 23, the russian military carried out 316 strikes on the territories of 9 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to the RMA, during the night of 24 October, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast shot down 3 Shahed 131/136 drones.

On 23 October, russian forces shelled the waters of Ochakiv community by artillery and attacked Kutsurub community by an FPV drone. A vehicle in Dmytrivka village was damaged. There were no casualties or injuries reported.

Odesa oblast

According to the South Air Command, air defence forces shot down 6 drones in Odesa oblast. It was also reported that during the night, russian forces launched a cruise missile, likely an X-22/32, in the direction of Zmiinyi Island. On the evening of 23 October, they attacked Odesa by an X-31P guided missile.

Kherson oblast

As reported by the RMA, around 3pm, the russian military shelled Rozlyv village in Kherson oblast. A 71-year-old woman sustained a blast injury, facial wounds and a shoulder contusion.

During the day, russian forces shelled Veletenske village in Kherson oblast. A 62-year-old man was hospitalised with a concussion, blast injury and wounds to his face and leg.

The russian occupiers shelled Chornobaivka, damaging residential buildings and outbuildings. There were no casualties reported.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, said that a 3-year-old girl was evacuated from the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast to Ukrainian-controlled territory. The child and her family are now safe and receiving necessary assistance.

According to the RMA, as a result of russian shelling, the railway tracks between Mykolaiv and Kherson were damaged. Trains to Kherson will now arrive in Mykolaiv and buses will transport passengers.

Based on the information provided by the State Emergency Service, rescuers extinguished 3 fires in Kherson oblast caused by russian shelling. 2 of the fires occurred in Beryslav, where an apartment in a high-rise building and a car caught fire. The third was in Bilozirka, where a fuel pump at a gas station ignited after an explosive was dropped from a drone.

As reported by the RMA, a 32-year-old man was injured in yesterday’s drone attack on Beryslav. He sought medical help today with blast injuries and a concussion.

A 67-year-old woman was wounded in yesterday’s shelling of Rozlyv village in Kherson oblast. Today, she sought medical attention with blast injuries, a concussion and a brain contusion.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of international partners, specifically the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, charitable organisations and heads of social structures. They discussed IDPs, recently evacuated residents of the zone of active hostilities, people with disabilities, the elderly and children.

Lutsk community sent REB DELTA-TEC Loli 6 + REB radiation mask made of Faraday fabric, 5 DJI Mavic 3, 14 DJI Mavic 3PRO, 11 DJI Mavic 3T, 2 Starlink, 4 EcoFlow, AVENGER Booster and a 3.3 kW inverter generator DK3500iA to the military.

Zakarpattia oblast

Another UAH 4.5m from the budget of Uzhhorod will be directed to support defenders. Deputies supported the changes to the budget of Uzhhorod City Territorial Community for 2024.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade received 2 cars. The Union of Volunteers of Prykarpattia NGO helped deliver cars from Latvia.

Lviv oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Munir Mamedzadeh, head of the UN Children’s Fund in Ukraine, and Ninke Woppen, Head of Lviv regional office of the UN Children’s Fund in Ukraine. UNICEF handed over 4 400 kW generators to Lviv for back-up power supply of modular towns where IDP Ukrainians live.

After the russian attack on Lviv on 4 September Meest Group, Victoria Gardens Shopping Center, Ukrainian Bible Church and inVerita joined the Take A House Under Guardianship initiative. Companies allocated over UAH 4.3m for the restoration of buildings. The relevant cooperation agreement was signed in Lviv City Council.

Rivne oblast

An export forum was held in Rivne oblast. Over 80 participants took part in the event. These are representatives of the business community, authorities, as well as leading experts in the direction of supporting Ukrainian exporters, as well as foreign partners from UNDP and GIZ. The forum became a platform for discussing Ukrainian export trends.

In Rivne oblast, a meeting was held on the presentation of the USAID Ukraine project – USAID Ukraine Building a Sustainable Public Health System. The key goal of the project is to strengthen the ability of communities to prevent, identify and respond to threats to public health.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council has started the procedure of purchasing 100 FPV quadcopters for defenders.

Ternopil community sent a Mitsubishi SUV to servicemen of a separate tank brigade.

25 defenders will receive financial assistance for equipment from Ternopil community. Each of the servicemen will receive UAH 10,000 to provide the necessary equipment and technical means. A total of UAH 250,000 was allocated.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In the morning, during an air alarm, 8 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type were shot down. As a result of the attack, a residential apartment building was damaged. The fire was extinguished by the State Emergency Service. Dismantling of structures is ongoing. The roof of the hotel and a non-residential building were also damaged. In addition, the blast wave damaged windows in one of the region’s libraries. One person received minor injuries.

At Khmelnytskyi NPP JSC NAEK Enerhoatom, a plant-wide emergency drill was held to eliminate a conditional accident. According to the legend of the training (conditionally), as a result of the missile attack on the industrial site of Khao NPP, there was a loss of working and reserve power supply for the own needs of power unit №1 and a blackout of power for the own needs of power unit №2.

Chernivtsi oblast

Representatives of Chernivtsi City Council met with leaders of the front-line communities of Kharkiv oblast. There was an exchange of experiences between communities, aimed at increasing the efficiency of local self-government, improving cooperation, as well as developing cross-border partnerships. Thanks to cooperation with the DOBRE program, communities get the opportunity to implement modern management tools, improve the quality of service provision, and strengthen their resilience in difficult conditions.

The RMA held a meeting with Tetiana Lomakina, Adviser-Envoy of the President of Ukraine on Barrier-Free Issues. They discussed barrier-free and inclusive infrastructure.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The US decided to provide Ukraine with $20bn at the expense of frozen assets of the russian federation.

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU for foreign policy and security, stated that the EU will extend the mission of training the Ukrainian military for another 2 years. He reminded that currently Ukrainian troops are under great pressure along the entire front line, which has become greater than before the beginning of summer.

Radoslav Sikorskyi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, reported that the russian consulate is being closed in Poznan. He stated that the closing of the russian consulate is a response to the hybrid war and russian sabotage attempts in Poland.

The Rebuilding Ukraine Forum 2024 forum was held in Bucharest under the joint high patronage of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania, organised by the Romanian-Ukrainian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce. The event is dedicated to attracting investments and discussing specific areas of participation of Romanian and foreign companies in projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
