On 24 April, there were 112 aggressor attacks.
The aggressor is shelling border areas. In Sumy oblast, Bachivsk, Rohizne, Holyshivske, Ryzhivka, Korenok, Malushyne; and Tymonovychi, Kliusy in Chernihiv oblast were under attack. Iskryskivshchyna was hit by an airstrike.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy attacked six times and carried out 60 shellings of settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops, 14 of which involved the use of MLRS.
Towards Souther Sloboda, the enemy attempted to improve its position four times in the vicinity of Izbytske, Starytsia, and Zybine. One of these attempts is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the adversary conducted assault operations five times in the vicinity of Radkivka, Hlushkivka, Novoandriivka, and Novoplatonivka. One of these attacks is ongoing.
Towards Lyman, Ukrainian warriors repelled 13 attempts by the invaders to advance near Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka, Novoserhiivka, Zelenyi Hai, Stavky, Drobysheve, Dibrova, and Lyman. Six assault actions are still ongoing.
Towards Sloviansk, the adversary did not conduct any assault operations.
Towards Kramatorsk, the occupiers attacked seven times in the vicinity of Minkivka, Nykyforivka, Bondarne, Fedorivka, and Markove. One of these attacks is ongoing.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out 17 attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Raiske, Novopavlivka, and Toretske. Three of these attempts to advance are still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers have tried 46 times to push Ukrainian warriors from their occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Bilytske, Dorozhne, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Vasylivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Muravka, Novopavlivka, Novopidhorodne, and Molodetske. Four of these attacks are still ongoing.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy attacked three times toward the settlements of Oleksandrohrad, Kalynivske, and Sosnivka. The settlement of Pokrovske was hit by an airstrike.
Towards Huliaipole, there were seven attacks in the vicinity of Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, Pryluky, Olenokostiantynivka, and Huliaipilske. Charivne, Liubytske, Tsvitkove, Hirke, Dolynka, Verkhnia Tersa, and Sviatopetrivka were hit by airstrikes.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy carried out one attack near Prymorske and delivered airstrikes in the vicinity of Mykilske, Zarichne, and Komyshuvakha.
Towards Kherson, the adversary conducted three assault actions in the areas of Bilohrudyi Island and the Antonivskyi Bridge. One of these is still ongoing.
In other directions, there are currently no significant changes in the situation. No enemy attempts to advance have been recorded.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
There were 194 combat engagements in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops attacked the positions of the Defense Forces six times in the directions of Zelene, Lyman, Bochkovo, and in the vicinity of Synelnykove. Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers carried out nine attacks in the vicinity of Radkivka, Podoly, Kurylivka, Novoosynove, and Hlushkivka.
Occupiers struck the private sector in Balakliia with drones. Preliminarily, it is known that a man and a woman were injured and are receiving medical assistance. As a result of the hit, a residential building and several cars caught fire.
During the day, three settlements in the Kharkiv oblast were under Russian strikes. In Kozacha Lopan, a 68-year-old woman was injured. In Kharkiv, a 43-year-old man was injured as a result of an explosion of an unknown device.
The enemy used 2 KABs, 2 “Geran-2” UAVs, 1 FPV drone, and 10 drones of an unidentified type. Private houses in Tsupivka and Kozacha Lopan were damaged, as well as houses and power grids in Novyi Burluk.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 243 people over the past 24 hours. Since it began operating, 30,108 people have been registered there.
During the week in Kharkiv oblast, over 43 hectares of agricultural land, nearly 500 meters of gas pipelines, over 100 meters of railway tracks, about 11 hectares of forests, and over 800 meters of power lines were surveyed. They demined 28 households, neutralized 954 explosive objects, and restored electricity supply for 33,646 subscribers.
Participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chornobyl NPP accident were honored in the oblast. This year marks 40 years since the disaster. Liquidators from Kharkiv oblast were presented with regional awards. Currently, almost 8,000 liquidators live in the oblast, with over 17,000 people registered in total as affected by the accident.
Donetsk oblast
Over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces repelled more than 60 assaults and attacks on Donetsk and Luhansk fronts, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Towards Kostiantynivka, Russian troops carried out 18 attacks in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Stepanivka, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka. The highest level of activity was recorded towards Pokrovsk: 36 assaults from Rodynske and Myrnohrad toward Bilytske, Myrne, and Novopavlivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, Russian troops are hunting Ukrainian drone operators; meanwhile, heavy UAV crews continue to perform combat missions, specifically stopping Russian infantry and delivering supplies to positions.
On the night of 23 April, the Defense Forces struck a rocket and artillery weapons depot and a logistics warehouse near Sartana in the occupied part of Donetsk oblast, as well as a fuel and lubricants echelon near Voznesenivka in Luhansk oblast.
On 23 April, police recorded 1,116 russian strikes against the front line and the residential sector. Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Novodonetske, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Mykhailivka, and Tetianivka were under fire. Three people were killed, and seven others were injured.
In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, an FPV drone killed two civilians and injured two more. In Mykhailivka, a strike by a Molniya-2 UAV on a civilian car took a person’s life. In Druzhkivka, as a result of drone and Smerch MLRS attacks, three people were injured, and residential buildings and vehicles were damaged; during firefighting efforts, rescuers evacuated two people but were forced to suspend work due to the threat of repeated shelling.
In Kramatorsk, two men were injured, and residential buildings and cars were damaged. Novodonetske was hit by Tornado-S MLRS—5 apartment buildings and vehicles were damaged. In Tetianivka, a private house and an outbuilding were damaged.
In occupied Mariupol, russians continue to change the city’s appearance: they demolished a building near the “Peremoha” cinema in the center, where they had previously announced the construction of housing for buyers from the Russian Federation.
Currently, 25 people live in the village of Bohorodychne near Sviatohirsk. After a three-month occupation in 2022, not a single intact house remained there, and now the front line has approached the settlement once again.
Luhansk oblast
Towards Lyman and Sloviansk,russian troops attacked seven times near three settlements according to the head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration. The occupiers used tube artillery six times, mortars in six other instances, and also struck with automatic grenade launchers and five drones.
In temporarily occupied Rubizhne, a russian aerial bomb hit a residential building—the projectile pierced through five floors. No casualties have been reported. Similar “emergency” drops have occurred at least twice already in 2024.
In Dovzhansk and other occupied cities of Luhansk oblast, gas outages have begun. The supply was cut off without warning and without any announced timeframe for restoration.
Meanwhile, in the russian federation, attempts are being made to explain the low level of reconstruction in occupied Luhansk oblast by citing “natural factors,” specifically the presence of slag heaps, while ignoring the destruction of infrastructure and the consequences of combat operations.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that on the morning of 24 April, russian forces attacked the capital with drones. Debris from the downed drones fell at several locations in Solomyanskyi and Obolonskyi districts – between residential buildings, on the grounds of a garage cooperative and into a pond. An air raid alert was declared at 09:09 due to the threat of drone attacks in the capital. It lasted 39 minutes.
Another batch of aid from the capital’s community was sent to the defenders at the front. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, a further 1,960 UAVs of various types were sent to the fighters of the 5th Separate Kyiv Assault Brigade. Since the start of the year, 200 million hryvnias have been allocated from the city budget for the brigade’s necessary equipment.
Anatoliy Fedoruk, the mayor of Bucha, reported that the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, currently visiting Ukraine, travelled to Bucha. He paid tribute to the memory of local residents who died during the russian occupation. Prince Harry laid flowers at the memorial near the Church of St Andrew the First-Called, where a mass grave of civilians was discovered in 2022. He also spoke with the church’s rector and viewed photographic evidence of war crimes committed by russian troops during the occupation of Bucha.
Over the course of two weeks, the State Emergency Service orchestra held a series of themed performances in Kyiv oblast under the banner ‘A Musical Interlude for Rescuers’. According to the State Emergency Service, the musicians performed for emergency workers at 25 fire stations. “This is not merely a cultural initiative, but a sincere show of support for people who risk their lives every day for the sake of others. They are the first to arrive where there is danger, pain and distress,” the statement reads.
Zhytomyr oblast
According to the Regional Military Administration, the Local Public Services Portal and new digital services for veterans were launched in test mode on 22 April. The project ‘Development of Digital Municipal Services for Demobilised Veterans in Ukraine’ is being implemented with financial support from the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV). During the event in Zhytomyr, experts from the e-Governance Academy (eGA), together with representatives of local communities in Zhytomyr oblast and partners, presented the digital services developed for veterans.
Sumy oblast
The Regional Military Administration reported that on 24 April, 11 defenders from Sumy oblast returned home from russian captivity. Among those released are three servicemen from Okhtyrka region, three from Sumy and Sumy region, two from Shostka region, one from Konotop region, and two from Romny region.
Mykola Noha, Mayor of Shostka, said that at around 9am on 24 April, a russian UAV struck a private household in Shostka. As a result of the attack, a 54-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. Three residential houses and a passenger vehicle were also damaged. The strike caused a fire. Emergency response teams are working at the scene.

Police explosive ordnance disposal specialists in Sumy neutralised the warhead of a UAV that had been discovered stuck in a tree in a city park. According to the National Police, the warhead had not detonated and remained lodged among the branches.
Sumy branch of “Hazmerezhi” informed that on 23 April, a russian attack damaged a gas pipeline in Velyka Pysarivka. Some consumers were left without gas supply.
According to the Regional Military Administration, in Trostianets community, a 56-year-old woman was injured as a result of a russian UAV strike on 23 April.
Over the past day, from the morning of 23 April to the morning of 24 April, russian forces carried out around 50 attacks on 24 settlements across 13 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 11 hours and 47 minutes over the day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
- in Shostka community, private houses, a non-residential building, outbuildings, and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- in Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was destroyed;
- in Hlukhiv community, a residential building, a non-residential building, and vehicles were damaged;
- in Esman community, private households were destroyed, while a private residential house and non-residential buildings were damaged;
- in Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- in Vorozhba community, a private residential house was damaged;
- in Boromlia community, a private house was damaged;
- in Trostianets community, a private house, a shop building, a passenger vehicle, and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Over the past day, 91 people were evacuated from border areas by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and volunteer organisations.
Mykhailo Melnyk, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that in Sumy region, over the past day as of the morning of 24 April, 22 enemy attacks were recorded. According to him, russian forces are deliberately targeting energy infrastructure, housing, and transport. Settlements in eight communities, mostly border areas, came under fire. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged.
Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the City Military Administration, announced that in Sumy community, authorities plan to install anti-drone netting along at least 21 kilometres of roads this year, as well as in selected high-traffic areas. Similar anti-drone corridors are being set up in starosta districts of the community. Approximately UAH 23m. is planned to be allocated from the community’s reserve fund for this purpose. The works began following technical reconnaissance conducted with the involvement of the military.
The Regional Military Administration reported that in 2026, more than UAH 101m. from the regional budget has been allocated for the implementation of the Comprehensive Regional Programme “Strengthening the Defence Capability and Security of Sumy Oblast for 2026–2030”. These funds have been used to procure electronic warfare systems, UAVs, vehicles, robotic systems, and specialised equipment, including nearly UAH 8.7m. for specific equipment. Additionally, over UAH 67m. has been allocated for anti-drone road protection.
In 2026, equipment worth over UAH 137m. has already been transferred to the security and defence forces through the special fund of the UNITED24, including control stations, interceptor drones, electronic warfare systems, and other equipment.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that on 24 April, as part of a prisoner exchange, 193 Ukrainian defenders returned home, including 10 from Chernihiv oblast. Preliminary information indicates they are from Chernihiv, Pryluky, Koriukivka, and Nizhyn regions. The youngest defender is 27 years old, and the oldest is 54. One of the servicemen will celebrate his 46th birthday in Ukraine in three days.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine informed that in northern Ukraine, over the past day, 23 April, border guards of the 105th detachment shot down three Shahed-type UAVs and two Herbera UAVs.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, over the course of 23 April, russian forces attacked three settlements in two border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi and Snovsk. The enemy carried out strikes using tube artillery (6 explosions), an FPV drone (1 explosion), and Shahed-type UAVs (3 explosions).
The State Emergency Service of Chernihiv oblast reported that on 23 April, pyrotechnic units destroyed the warheads of russian UAVs that had fallen in open areas in Pryluky region and had not detonated.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Council, reported that during the night, russian forces struck Kryvyi Rih by UAVs. Two men were injured. A fire broke out, and infrastructure was damaged. From evening until morning, the enemy attacked the region by FPV drones and artillery, targeting Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural, and Chervonohryhorivka communities. In Bohynivka community, a UAV strike caused a fire and damage to residential areas.
In Dnipro, a UAV attack damaged a private house and a vehicle.
The occupiers continued to strike by drones and artillery, targeting Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural, Chervonohryhorivka, and Myrove communities. Five multi-apartment buildings, two private houses, two shops, infrastructure, and gas pipelines were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
Among the servicemen from Vinnytsia oblast who returned home from russian captivity on 24 April as part of a prisoner exchange are defenders from Khmilnyk, Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Nemyriv, Haisyn, Zhmerynka, Sharhorod, Ahronomichne, Chernivtsi, and Sobolivka communities.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, the Art Museum presented the travelling exhibition “Flower of Memory,” featuring works by 16 women from different regions of Ukraine — mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters of fallen and missing servicemen.
Poltava oblast
After three years in russian captivity, serviceman Vitalii Andreichenko from Hrynky village, Hradysk community, returned home.
He will have a special reunion with his daughter Solomiia, who was born while he was already in captivity.
Cherkasy oblast
Soldier Yaroslav Sliusarenko from Monastyryshche, who was returned to Ukraine as part of the 24 April exchange, had been held in captivity in Chechnya. He had been considered missing since 15 August 2024.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 23 April, the occupiers carried out 629 strikes on 40 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy launched 2 missile strikes on Rezedivka. russian forces conducted 23 airstrikes on Komyshuvakha, Hryhorivka, Novomykolaivka, Liubytske, Yurkivka, Lisne, Zorivka, Orikhiv, Verkhna Tersa, Vozdvyzhivka, Tsvitkove, Dolynka, Charivne, Huliaipilske, Novoselivka, and Chervona Krynytsia. 416 UAVs of various modifications (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Novomykolaivka, Yakovleve, Yurkivka, Novoiakovlivka, Novooleksandrivka, Stepnohirsk, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, Stepove, Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Preobrazhenka, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Huliaipilske, Staroukrainka, Sviatopetrivka, Tsvitkove, Varvarivka, Olenokostiantynivka, Solodke, and Dobropillia. Six MLRS strikes targeted Stepnohirsk, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Vozdvyzhivka, and Verkhna Tersa. 182 artillery strikes hit Chervonodniprovka, Novoiakovlivka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Huliaipilske, Staroukrainka, Sviatopetrivka, Varvarivka, Olenokostiantynivka, and Dobropillia. 117 reports were received about damage to housing, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities. One person was killed and another was injured as a result of enemy attacks in the Zaporizhzhia and Polohy regions.
The General Staff reported that as of 16:00 on 24 April, there were seven attacks toward the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, Pryluky, Olenokostiantynivka, and Huliaipilske. Towards Orikhiv, the enemy is carrying out one attack near Prymorske.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that on 24 April, during the 73rd exchange between Ukraine and russia, six defenders from Zaporizhzhia oblast returned home from russian captivity. In total, 193 Ukrainian servicemen returned to Ukraine, who had defended the country towards Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kursk.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 24 April, russian forces attacked Mykolaiv region with Shahed drones. Two people were injured, and two private houses were damaged.
According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 23 April, the enemy attacked Ochakiv community six times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.
Odesa oblast
Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that during the night of 24 April, russian forces once again attacked Odesa. Two people were killed and 17 others were injured. As a result of attack drone strikes, at least three residential buildings sustained significant damage. Apartments were destroyed, facades were damaged, and windows were shattered. State Emergency Service workers evacuated 36 residents, including two children. In addition, during the night, a UAV struck a commercial vessel flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis that was heading to one of the ports of Greater Odesa. A fire broke out on board, which was quickly extinguished by the crew.

Kherson oblast
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 24 April, russian forces attacked a moped with a drone near Zelenivka. As a result of the strike, a 68-year-old man and a woman, whose identity is currently being established, sustained fatal injuries. He also reported that as a result of yesterday’s russian shelling between the settlements of Tomyna Balka and Rozlyv, a 43-year-old man and a woman, whose identity is being established, were killed.
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that at approximately 09:00, russians attacked Komyshany with a UAV. A 34-year-old man was injured in the drone strike. He sustained blast injuries, a concussion, and an eye injury.
This morning, russian forces also attacked Bilozerka with a UAV. Three women were injured.
According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, russian forces carried out several attacks on Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. At least five people were injured. A 72-year-old man sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the head and chest as a result of a drone strike on a civilian car. Three volunteers were injured in a UAV attack at around 10:20. One of them was hospitalized with shrapnel injuries to the torso and limbs, while the others were prescribed outpatient treatment. A 56-year-old man also sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the head, face, torso, and limbs.
Three residents of Komyshany required medical assistance after russian attacks. A 66-year-old woman, who came under shelling both today and yesterday, was diagnosed with blast injuries and a concussion. A 70-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and barotrauma.
The Police of Kherson oblast reported that on 23 April, russian forces attacked Kherson, Novodmytrivka, Kizomys, Sadove, Inhulivka, Antonivka, Tomyna Balka, Bilozerka, Romashkove, Rozlyv, Shyroka Balka, Zorivka, Komyshany, Dniprovske, Chornobaivka, Yantarne, Prydniprovske, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Beryslav, Trudoliubivka, Davydiv Brid, Shevchenkivka, Zaporizhzhia, Kokhanivka, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Lvove, Olhivka, Burhunka, Kozatske, and Vesele. Nine private houses, three cars, and a moped were damaged. One person was killed and six were injured as a result of russian aggression.
The General Staff reported that on 24 April, the enemy carried out three assault actions in the areas of Bilohrudyi Island and the Antonivskyi Bridge towards Kherson. One of the engagements is still ongoing.

Volyn oblast

5 Defenders from the oblast have returned to their homeland from enemy captivity. All are servicemen of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ukraine has returned 193 more soldiers from russian captivity. Among those released are 6 from the Carpathian region: Yaroslav Partechyn, Oleksii Holen, Vasyl Mulyk, Denys Yeremov, Yurii Mykytchuk and Ivan Savchuk.
Lviv oblast
The largest transfer of transport for emergency services in the history of Lviv took place. This is aid from Taiwan. 68 vehicles (fire, medical and specialized) are going to the communities of the east, south and center, which are under daily shelling. In particular, for Kharkiv and Kupiansk.
A batch of UAVs was transferred to the 100th brigade with the support of Lviv RMA. Through the joint efforts of the authorities, volunteers and business, the defenders received 47 modern drones.
Rivne oblast
Among the Ukrainian soldiers released from captivity are three soldiers from Rivne oblast. One is from Dubno region, he is 53 years old. The other 2 are from Rivne region, they are both 41.
Ternopil oblast
Ukraine has returned 193 more soldiers from russian captivity. Among the released soldiers are 5 from te Ternopil oblast.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Ukraine has returned 193 more soldiers from russian captivity. Among those released from Khmelnytskyi oblast, there are 6 people: 3 from Shepetivskyi region, 2 from Khmelnytskyi region and 1 from Kamianets-Podilskyi region.
Chernivtsi oblast
Another 193 Ukrainian soldiers were freed from enemy captivity. Among them is a Bukovinian, Ihor Berynchan from Chernivtsi region, who was captured in March 2023 in Bakhmut region.
