russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In turn, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
On 23 March, there were 74 combat engagements.
The border settlements of Mykhailivske, Stepok, Vyshenky, Bila Bereza, Yastrubshchyna, Kucherivka, Luhivka, Oleksandrivka and Porozok in Sumy oblast continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the russian federation. Petrushivka, Krasnopillia, Okip, Turyia, Uhrody, Novodmytrivka and Prokhody were hit by airstrikes.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to advance in the vicinity of Zahryzove, but was successfully stopped by our defenders.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked six times near Yampolivka and towards Nove, with five engagements still ongoing.
Towards Siverskyi, there were four attacks on Ukrainian defenders’ positions near Bilohorivka, in the directions of Ivan-Daryivka and Verkhnekamianske. Two firefights are ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, a battle continues near Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked eight times near Diliivka and Toretsk in total, with four battles currently underway.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers have made 35 attempts to push our defenders from their positions near Panteleimonivka, Vodiane Druhe, Yelizavetivka, Lysivka, Andriivka, Kotlyne, Uspenivka and Bohdanivka. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and repelled 29 attacks, six engagements are still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked six times near the localities of Kostiantynopil and Rozlyv, and one battle is still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy was repelled three times, trying to advance near Novopol and Novosilka. Unguided missiles attacked the areas of Huliaipole, Novodarivka, Novosilka and Zaliznychne.
In the Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka came under an airstrike.
The enemy did not conduct any active offensives towards Kharkiv and Kherson.
In the operational zone in Kursk oblast, Ukrainian Defence Forces units repelled four attacks by russian invaders, and five more battles are ongoing. The enemy carried out five airstrikes, dropping five drones, and fired over 181 times, including five times from multiple launch rocket systems.
The situation did not change significantly in other frontline areas.
According to Kyiv City Military Administration, as a result of the night attack on Kyiv, 3 people were killed, including a 5-year-old child. Ten other people were injured of varying severity, including an 11-month-old child.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces that over the past week, russia has fired more than 1,580 guided aerial bombs, nearly 1,100 attack drones and 15 missiles of various types into Ukraine. He also added that it is estimated that these weapons contain at least 102,000 foreign components.

The RMA reports that towards Kharkiv, the enemy tried to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders near Vovchansk four times yesterday.
Towards Kupiansk, there were four attacks yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled the enemy’s assault in the vicinity of Zahryzove and towards Petropavlivka.
Shelling
At 01:45 in Chuhuiv region, Pechenegi village, two UAVs hit the roof of the administrative building of the power distribution company, causing the roof to catch fire over an area of 40 m².
At 01:45, in Chuhuiv region, Pechenyhy village, a UAV hit the building of a lyceum, damaging the glazing of windows and doors, as well as the suspended ceiling.
The day before, at 23:15, in Chuhuiv regon, Heniivka village, a private house was damaged by a UAV of unidentified type.
At 21:14, in Izium region, Borova village, structural elements of the damaged buildings caught fire on an area of 10 m² due to a hit from an unexploded ordnance. A modular medical building, two ambulances and a private house were also damaged. A 70-year-old woman who was injured and hospitalised was rescued from the latter.
At 19:12 in Bohodukhiv region, Klynova-Novoselivka village, a residential building was damaged as a result of four FPV drones. Three women were injured – 57, 54 and 67 years old.
At 16:05 in Chuhuiv region, Vovchansk, a 72-year-old man was injured as a result of a hit from an FPV drone.
At 14:59 in Chuhuiv region, Shestakove village, a Molniya UAV hit the roadway.
At 12:18 in Kupiansk region, Shypuvate village, a water tower was damaged as a result of MLRS shelling.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline.
The General Staff says that the number of attacks towards Novopavlivka increased to 17. The previous day there were 11.
Towards Toretsk, russian troops carried out 22 attacks near Krymske, Diliyivka, Druzhba, Toretsk and towards Shcherbynivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped 44 russian attacks over the past day.
The General Staff reported that on 21 March, the Ukrainian Air Force hit the area where the russian 1st Separate Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 103rd Motorised Rifle Regiment was concentrated in a shelter and basement in Toretsk. The location of the enemy forces was completely destroyed, and the personnel of the russian troops, including air assault groups and UAV operators, were killed.
Shelling
The day before, three people were killed and four injured as a result of russian attacks in Donetsk oblast. Police recorded 4,043 hostile attacks on the frontline and residential areas.
Eight settlements were under fire: the cities of Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Toretsk, and the villages of Dovha Balka and Malynivka.

63 civilian objects were damaged, including 56 residential buildings.

The enemy dropped three FAB-250 bombs on Kramatorsk, injuring a man and damaging at least 30 private homes.
The occupiers hit Sloviansk with a FAB-250 bomb with an UMPK module, injuring a civilian. The strike damaged 22 private houses and 4 cars.
In Dobropillia, a UAV hit damaged 2 houses and a car.
Luhansk oblast
The 3rd Assault Brigade reported that Ukrainian troops have liberated the village of Nadiya in Luhansk oblast. The total area liberated from the occupiers is three square kilometres. The military operation lasted 30 hours.
The day before, russians fired 18 times from cannon and rocket artillery. They also sent 225 drones towards Ukrainian defenders. The enemy staged assault operations near Nadiya, Dibrova and Bilohorivka.
The so-called ‘people’s council of the lpr’ adopted a ‘law’ according to which the priority right to use housing that has undergone the procedure of ‘nationalisation’, i.e. was squeezed from those who left the currently occupied territory, will be granted to housing and communal services workers. According to the invaders, this will encourage people to work in the housing and utilities sector, where there are regular cases of months-long salary arrears. Employees of the housing and utilities sector in the ‘lpr’ will be able to claim the squeezed real estate after judges, employees of the investigative committee and other law enforcement agencies of the russian federation.
In Rubizhne, the local population complains about the level of healthcare. It has remained consistently low for almost three years of occupation. There is an extreme shortage of specialists in the city. There are problems with calling an ambulance. And if you need to be hospitalised, you have to travel almost 60 km to Starobilsk, if you are admitted there.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
KCMA reported that three people were killed in a hostile UAV attack on the capital on the night of 23 March. A father and his 5-year-old daughter were killed in Holosiivskyi district, and an 80-year-old woman in Dniprovskyi district. Ten other people were injured, with the youngest victim being 11 months old.
In Dniprovskyi district, a fire broke out on the upper floors of a nine-storey residential building as a result of a drone attack. A woman burned to death. Twenty-seven people were evacuated from the building. At another address, on the 6th floor of a 16-storey building, one of the apartments was damaged. The building of a catering facility was also damaged.
In Podilskyi district, a UAV crashed in an industrial area. The fire was extinguished on the 20th floor of a 25-storey residential building.
In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire was extinguished in a 4-storey office and warehouse building with an area of 2000 m². A residential trailer and trucks were also on fire.
In Desnianskyi district, a fire broke out in an open area in a woodland.
In Shevchenkivskyi district, debris fell in a residential area, damaging 6 cars.

The head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk informed that two people were injured in Kyiv oblast as a result of a russian drone attack. In Bucha district, a woman born in 1997 and a man born in 1976 sustained injuries. They received the necessary medical care.
Four private houses and a car were damaged as a result of a nighttime UAV attack in Bucha district. A private house was damaged in Fastiv district. In Brovary district, a fire at an enterprise was extinguished, and the windows of a private house were damaged. A fire on a grass floor was extinguished in Bila Tserkva district. The air raid lasted almost 6 hours.

The NGO reported that 21-year-old soldier Mykola Sirenko ‘Strike’, a native of Bucha, Kyiv oblast, was killed while performing a combat mission in Donetsk oblast. Mykola worked as a driver for the Skhid SOS Foundation. He joined the foundation at the age of 19 and became an integral part of the evacuation team. In February 2023, he joined the Special Forces unit.
UNDP reported that more than 800 facilities were dismantled and over 200,000 tonnes of construction waste removed in Kyiv Oblast with UNDP support after the russian invasion. The sorted waste is being sent to a special site where it awaits recycling or disposal.
Zhytomyr oblast
By 1 April, seven counselling centres will be opened in Zhytomyr for residents to receive information on civil protection measures. The decision was made by the executive committee of the city council. The consultation centres are aimed at raising public awareness of emergency and wartime actions. Visitors will be able to learn about response methods, the use of protective equipment and the basics of first aid.
In Zhytomyr, a pilot project is underway to provide free dental prosthetics and dental treatment for military personnel, people with disabilities as a result of the russian-Ukrainian war, and veterans. In particular, such services are already available at the city’s dental clinic No. 1.
The Open Cup of the Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in kettlebell lifting was held in Zhytomyr oblast. The competition was attended by 13 teams from different parts of Ukraine, including representatives of various branches of the armed forces and the country’s leading military universities.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on 23 March, around 4am, russian forces struck a bakery in Krasnopillia by two guided aerial bombs.
In Verkhnia Syrovatka community, during an attack by russian forces, a wood processing workshop, a garage, and equipment of Velykyi Bobryk forestry were damaged. ‘Northern Forest Office’ branch of the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’ informed that the enemy attacked in the evening of 22 March by three GABs.
The Regional Military Administration informed that during the night and morning, russians carried out 24 shellings of border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast. A total of 25 explosions were recorded. The shelling attacks affected the Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, and Vorozhba communities. In the Vorozhba community, non-residential premises were damaged as a result of a UAV strike.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on 22 March, around 3:45pm, russian forces attacked a tractor in Yunakivka community of Sumy region using a drone. As a result of the attack, a 17-year-old boy was injured.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that over the past day, 22 March, russian forces carried out 97 shellings in Sumy oblast, with a total of 189 strikes recorded. The enemy used mortars (47 explosions), artillery (58 explosions), UAV attacks (1 explosion), FPV-drones (21 explosions), kamikaze drones (10 explosions), loitering munitions (2 explosions), launched GABs (29 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (22 explosions). Ten communities came under enemy fire: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Trostianets, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Shalyhyne, and Seredyna-Buda.

According to Sumy police, over the past day, 43 settlements came under fire. As a result of enemy attacks on Yunakivka community, two 17-year-old teenagers were injured. Due to shelling in Krasnopillia community, one person was injured, 13 houses destroyed, and a farm damaged. Additionally, two private houses in other settlements were damaged, along with a food enterprise, a wood processing workshop, and a farm.

According to the SES, units of the State Emergency Service evacuated 31 people, including three children, from settlements in Sumy region over the past day.
The East SOS charitable foundation team evacuated a family from Krasnopillia, along with their livestock. The day before, a strike occurred near their yard, shattering the windows in their house. The family was hesitant to leave because of their livestock, which included around ten chickens, a dog, and a goat. The goat had recently given birth to three kids. The team successfully evacuated everyone to a safe location.

The State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine announced that in Trostianets in Sumy oblast, two five-storey buildings have been restored after the russian occupation in 2022. At that time, the buildings on Blahovishchenska Street 53 and Neskuchanska Street 9 suffered significant damage. Ninety families will be able to return to their homes.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported that in Varva community, a fire broke out as a result of a strike by an enemy drone, destroying a residential house and a bathhouse. Neighboring households and several cars were also damaged. In Snovsk community, a non-residential building caught fire due to an FPV-drone strike. The enemy also carried out attacks on Semenivka and Talalaivka rural communities.
Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that over the past day, 22 March, russian forces attacked two border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi and Snovsk. A total of 27 strikes were recorded, including explosive device drops from UAVs, FPV-drone strikes, and shelling by mortars and barrel artillery.
As of the end of 2024, in Chernihiv oblast, 500 businesses across 21 territorial communities suffered damage as a result of the full-scale invasion. These figures are provided in the ‘Sustainable Development Strategy of Chernihiv Oblast for the Period until 2027’ on the website of Chernihiv Regional Council. The total value of the damaged property, according to accounting records, amounts to approximately UAH6.9b.
The Security Service of Ukraine has announced suspicions in the case of the missile strike on the drama theatre in Chernihiv on 19 August, 2023, against two russian army generals. According to the investigation, the head of the missile forces and artillery department of the West military group of the russian federation, Major General Oleksandr Dragovalovskyi, proposed to the higher command to strike Chernihiv drama theatre by a ground-launched 9M727 Iskander cruise missile equipped with a fragmentation-explosive warhead designed to target various objects, equipment, and personnel. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the first deputy commander, Mykhailo Zusko, prepared and signed the combat order for the missile strike. All of this was approved by the commander of the ‘West’ military group of the russian armed forces, Yevhenii Nikiforov.
Chernihiv Regional Education Department reported that in Chernihiv oblast, 33 educational institutions received fuel cards for 1,000 litres from the World Food Programme of the United Nations. The fuel is intended to ensure the uninterrupted operation of generators in schools during power outages.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, says that from evening until morning, the occupiers continued their attacks in the Nikopol region. They used artillery, drones, and Grad rocket launchers. The district centre and the Marhanets community were targeted. Enterprises, 6 private houses, 4 outbuildings and a power line were damaged. Also yesterday, the enemy attacked Mezhivka community of Sinelnykivskyi district with a drone. A 14-year-old boy was wounded and hospitalised in moderate condition. Novopavlivka and Velyka Mykhailivka communities were also attacked with drones. Two private houses and a car were damaged.
During the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol district about two dozen times. They used artillery and drones. They targeted the district centre, Marhanets, Pokrovske and Myrove communities. Three people were injured: men aged 71 and 57 were hospitalised in moderate condition. Businesses were damaged, and a fire broke out and damaged a country house. Three private houses, an unused building and three cars were damaged.

Cherkasy oblast

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, the occupiers carried out 335 attacks on 13 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 7 airstrikes on Komyshuvakha, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, and Novodarivka. 220 UAVs of various modifications attacked Kamianske, Piatykhatky, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka, Charivne, and Preobrazhenka. 9 MLRS attacks targeted Huliaipole, Charivne, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, and Mala Tokmachka. 99 artillery strikes were carried out on Kamianske, Piatykhatky, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. 130 reports were received about damage to cars, apartments, private houses, farm buildings, and infrastructure facilities.
On 22 March, as a result of russian shelling two fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
It is reported that the occupying forces twice attempted advances on the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Shcherbaky and Novodanylivka towards Orikhiv.
The resistance movement Yellow Ribbon reported that the occupation authorities in the temporarily seized city of Tokmak allowed russian military personnel to be settled in the apartments of residents who evacuated from the city. This decision was made at the local level without legal documentation. It is noted that even under russian law, this is illegal.
The Center for National Resistance informed that the occupiers in the temporarily occupied city of Melitopol introduced mandatory military training courses based on conscription service standards for 10th and 11th-grade students. It is impossible to receive a diploma without completing the course — this applies to both boys and girls.
Mykolaiv oblast
On 22 March, the enemy shelled Kutsurub community twice with artillery and attacked it once with an FPV drone. There were no casualties.
Additionally, the enemy attacked Ochakiv community three times using FPV drones. As a result of one of the strikes a school boiler house and a car were damaged in the city of Ochakiv.
On 22 March, at approximately 14:16, the enemy attacked Halytsynove community with a strike drone, with the type still being determined. As a result of the attack, a summer house in the village of Luparove was damaged.
Odesa oblast
At night, the russian army attacked Odesa oblast with strike drones. According to the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, border guards destroyed two of them.
As of 6:00 am on 23 March, three enemy carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles were in the Black Sea, with a total salvo capacity of up to 12 missiles.There were four enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including three carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to 26 missiles.
Over the past day, one vessel passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in russia’s interests, while seven more ships entered the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
At approximately 3:00 pm, russian forces shelled Komyshany. A 52-year-old man suffered blast and traumatic brain injuries, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the abdomen. Doctors assess his condition as severe.
Today, the russian army shelled Inhulets with artillery. As a result of the strike, a 76-year-old woman sustained blast and traumatic brain injuries, a concussion, and a laceration to the head.
Around 10:00 am, russian occupiers struck Dniprovskyi district of Kherson with artillery. A married couple was injured in the shelling. A 62-year-old woman sustained a mine-blast injury, shrapnel wounds to the back, shoulder, and thigh. A 66-year-old man suffered blast and traumatic brain injuries, a shrapnel wound to the chest, and a contusion to the head.
Yesterday, a 54-year-old woman who was struck by a russian UAV on 20 March in Kachkarivka died in the hospital. Doctors fought for her life until the end, but her injuries were too severe.
Yesterday, the enemy attacked Beryslav, Dudchany, Havrylivka, Antonivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Veletenske, Biliaivka, Novooleksandrivka, Kostyrka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Odradokamianka, Mykolaivka, Tiahynka, Burhunka, Lvove, Olhivka, Petrivka, Zmiivka, Novoberyslav, Shliakhove, Bilozerka, Inzhenerne, Blahovishchenske, Sadove, Zelenivka, Osokorivka, Vesele, Dniprovskе, Ivanivka, Kizomys, Mykilske, Naddniprianske, Novotiahynka, Poniativka, Prydniprovske, Sofiivka, Tokarivka, Tomyna Balka, and the city of Kherson. An apartment building, 22 private houses, farm buildings, a garage, agricultural equipment, and private vehicles were damaged as a result of enemy attacks. Three people were injured due to russian aggression.
The Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine continue to strike enemy positions, fire posts, and rear areas. Over the past day, enemy losses amounted to 88 occupiers, 26 artillery systems, 47 units of automotive and armored equipment, 14 UAVs of Supercam, Zala, and Orlan types, 6 motorcycles, 1 quad bike, 4 boats, 3 electronic warfare systems, 5 generators, 4 communication antennas, 2 Starlink antennas, 2 ammunition storage sites, and 4 fuel and lubricant depots. Additionally, 59 bunkers/shelters, 1 observation post, and 1 checkpoint were destroyed.
On 21 March, 2025, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck and destroyed the ferry support company of the 205th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade in Dnipriany, in the temporarily occupied Kherson oblast. According to military reports, the strike destroyed russian watercraft, military equipment, and an auxiliary building filled with technical assets.

The Lviv Knights photo exhibition was presented in Lviv dedicated to the 3rd anniversary of the formation of the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade.
In the village of Holohory, Zolochiv community, a memorial plaque in honor of Vasyl Nychvyd, Commander of the Rifle Company, acting deputy Commander of the 64th Battalion of the 103rd Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, was solemnly unveiled on the facade of the Holohory school. The soldier was killed on 25 September 2022 in the settlement of Yampil, Donetsk oblast.
Rivne oblast
Veteran athletes from Rivne oblast won 18 medals in Lviv. The 2nd stage of the all-Ukrainian competition Strong Men of Ukraine was held there, in which over 300 participants competed.
A social adaptation service has been introduced in Rivne oblast. It can be used by veterans, combatants, their family members, persons released from captivity, as well as relatives who lost loved ones in the war.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that the Honorary Citizen of Ternopil distinction was awarded to 26 families of Heroes.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi high school students consolidate their knowledge of the subject Defense of Ukraine in the multimedia shooting range of the Educational and Training Center. Germany’s budget committee has approved an additional €3bn in military aid to Ukraine, which includes the €2.547bn allocated by the German Finance Ministry to Ukraine this year, as well as other contributions, including reimbursement from the European Peace Fund.
The European Commission transferred an additional tranche of €1bn to Ukraine as part of macro-financial assistance.
