The invaders made 83 attempts to force our soldiers from their positions. Combat actions are still ongoing in 17 locations. The enemy continues to attack most actively towards Pokrovsk.
In Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts, the invaders have so far shelled Popivka, Volfyne, Yastrubyne, Stepka and Kindrativka from the territory of the russian federation. In addition, enemy unguided aerial missiles exploded near the latter and near Basivka.
Towards Kharkiv, the situation remained unchanged as the invaders unsuccessfully attacked 11 times near Hlyboke, Tykhe and Vovchansk. The enemy also actively used the aviation component, dropping more than a dozen unmanned aerial vehicles near six different localities.
Towards Kupiansk, the invaders made unsuccessful attempts to advance in the areas of Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Andriivka and Stelmakhivka. The situation is under control.
Towards Lyman, the number of invaders’ attempts to improve the tactical situation increased to nine. There were seven of them near Makiivka and Nevske villages.
Towards Siversk, Ukrainian troops stopped the militants’ activity eight times near Vyimka, Pereizne, Verkhnokamianske and Spirne.
Towards Kramatorsk, fighting continues near Chasiv Yar and Vasiukivka. The enemy failed in three more attacks near Novomarkove, Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Ivanivske.
Towards Toretsk, fighting continues in two locations near Zalizne. Two russian attacks have already been repelled. The invaders were repelled four times near Pivnichne and another hostile attack was stopped near Toretsk. Terrorists launched five airstrikes on this city today, dropping a dozen UAVs in total.
Towards Pokrovsk, the invaders do not reduce their pressure. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has attacked Ukrainian defenders’ defensive lines 27 times. 12 assault operations are underway and fighting is taking place near Panteleimonivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Prohres and Novoselivka Persha. In addition, the enemy dropped a total of seven KABs near Vovche and fired from multiple rocket launchers towards Oleksandropil and the previously mentioned Novoselivka Persha.
Towards Kurakhove, two attacks by the enemy near Krasnohorivka continue. The situation is under control of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. Five more attacks were repelled in the same area and near Kostiantynivka. The enemy suffered losses. Counting is ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, Orikhiv and Kherson, Ukrainian soldiers repelled one enemy attack each. The enemy supported its actions with airstrikes four times, firing unguided missiles near Urozhaine and dropping UAVs near Mala Tokmachka and Kamianske.
During the full-scale war, russia damaged 1,642 medical facilities in 676 healthcare institutions, and completely destroyed 214 facilities in 99 healthcare institutions. The russians are targeting hospitals, maternity hospitals, outpatient clinics and polyclinics. Medical facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia oblasts have suffered the most from russian aggression.
The Khortytsia operational-tactical group informed that Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners have downed another russian Su-25 in Donetsk oblast towards Pokrovsk. The downed Su-25 was flying in tandem with another attack aircraft. They were supposed to fire at Ukrainian positions. The soldiers of the separate mechanised brigade named after Lieutenant General Marko Bezruchko have already destroyed the 2nd Su-25 combat aircraft this month.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff as of 4pm, there are no major changes towards Kharkiv as the invaders unsuccessfully attacked 11 times near Hlyboke, Tykhyi and Vovchansk. Also russia actively used aviation, dropping more than a dozen unmanned aerial vehicles near six different settlements. Towards Kupiansk, the invaders made unsuccessful attempts to advance near Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Andriivka and Stelmakhivka.
Police said that a 41-year-old man was injured as a result of a russian FPV drone strike on a public transport stop in Kupiansk.
At 12:05am, russians attacked Kupiansk. According to the RMA, a 42-year-old man was injured as a result of the UAV attack.
At 3:17am, russians attacked Lisne village of Derhachi region. A garage was on fire as a result of enemy shelling from an MRLs.
At 12:05am, russians attacked Kupiansk. A house was on fire as a result of the shelling.
Yesterday 39 enemy KAB bombs were launched in Kharkiv oblast.
At 10:26pm, russians attacked Hlushkivka village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, a house burned down.
At 7:54pm, russians attacked Lisne village of Mala Danylivka community, Kharkiv region. The shelling damaged the windows of a residential building and a fence.
At 5pm, russians attacked Ruska Lozova village of Derhachi community, Kharkiv region. A 30-year-old woman was injured in the shelling.
At 9:40am, russians attacked Podoly village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region. The shelling damaged a house and a garage. A woman was injured.
At 9:22am, russians attacked Ivanchukivka village of Kunie community, Izium region. As a result of the shelling from MRLs, the glazing of the entrance to the bread reception point, a car, and the windows of nearby private houses were damaged.
At 8:26am, russians attacked Senkove village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, a summer kitchen was on fire. A 75-year-old woman was injured.
At 8am, russians attacked Ivanchukivka village of Kunie community, Izium region. A 58-year-old man was injured as a result of the shelling.
Towards Kharkiv, there were 10 combat engagements near Hlyboke and Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the number of attacks totalled 13. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Kindrashivka, Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Hlushkivka and Kolisnykivka.
Evacuations of families with children from five regions of Kharkiv oblast continue. Families with children are being forcibly evacuated from settlements in Kharkiv, Izium, Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk and Chuhuiv regions that are dangerous for living. So far, 40 children and their families have been taken to safe places from Borova community, 32 from Vovchansk and 20 from Kindrashivka communities.
Oleksii Kharkivskyi, Chief Patrol Officer of Vovchansk Police Department, reported that about 70 children remain in the starosta regions of Vovchansk community, where families with children were forced to evacuate in late June due to increased shelling.
Donetsk oblast
Russians dropped 29 bombs on the civilian population of Donetsk oblast over the day, injuring 15 people. According to Donetsk police, the enemy fired a total of 2,483 times at the frontline and residential areas.
19 settlements were shelled: Hirnyk, Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Lyman, Selydove, Toretsk, Hrodivka, Zhelanne, Kurakhivka, Yampil, Holubivka, Kleban-Byk, Kostiantynopilske, Malynivka of Kramatorsk region, Malynivka of Pokrovsk region, Perestroika, Rozdolne, Sontsivka, Trudove.
72 civilian objects were damaged, including 45 residential buildings, shops, a post office, cafes, a forestry, cars and critical infrastructure.
The occupiers attacked Kostiantynivka using three UMPB D-30 SN guided bombs, injuring four civilians and damaging two shops, a cafe, an express delivery service and a power line.
Four more civilians were injured in Perebudova, which russia attacked with three UMPB D-30 SN bombs. 16 private houses and 4 cars were damaged.
The russians dropped six UMPB D-30 SN bombs on Lyman, injuring a man and damaging two private houses, a forestry, civilian cars and agricultural machinery.
Rozdolne withstood a triple attack by UMPB D-30 SN bombs, two residents were injured and 16 private houses damaged.
Two people were injured and a private house damaged in a bomb attack on Hrodivka.
Also russian terrorists shelled Sontsivka using Smerch rocket launchers, injuring a civilian. Another civilian was injured in Holubivka.
Police and the State Emergency Service of Donetsk oblast reported that 12 people and two dogs were evacuated from the frontline Toretsk.
Specifically, 8 people were evacuated by the Feniks (Phoenix) rescue team, including two people with limited mobility. Another four were evacuated by the Bilyi Yanhol (White Angel) police crew. Despite the daily bombing, artillery and drone attacks, about 5,000 people still live in the city. Every day, the police receive 100 to 200 reports from residents seeking to evacuate.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders fired 83 times at the positions of Ukrainian defenders and settlements along the contact line. Nevske and Makiivka were under russian attack. The enemy hit Makiivka three times with multiple rocket launchers and Nevske once more. The villages also suffered from shelling with cannon artillery and drone attacks. The enemy attempted to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces defences near Makiivka and in Serebrianka forest.
In the so-called “lpr”, FSB officers check every employee of the occupation state bodies for relatives outside the “republic”. They also determine who has relatives in Ukraine. They work with them to isolate them from information that may come from outside the “lpr”.
Residents of Rubizhne constantly complain about the lack of funding for reconstruction work. Some residents claim that the funds are not allocated by the russian authorities, while others believe that they are stolen by local officials.Two years after the start of the work, the number of rubble in the city has not decreased. Locals are offered payment for clearing the rubble in the form of stew. While some accept the payment, their numbers remain small.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv City Council reported that the residents of a rocket-damaged house in Syrets have filed 17 applications for temporary housing in the capital.
The victims will be provided with temporary accommodation in houses with basic repairs, where all apartments have been inspected by representatives of the district. The housing will be furnished.
The Princess Maxim Centre for Paediatric Oncology in the Netherlands will take in four children who were treated at the russian-damaged Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv. The children with cancer will arrive at the hospital in Utrecht in the upcoming days.
NPC Ukrenerho has contributed more than UAH 10m to rebuild the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital, which was damaged by a rocket attack in Kyiv. The company said that on the day of the attack, employees raised UAH 115,000 for the hospital.
In Irpin community, sappers seized a dangerous object – a NONA mortar shell. The mine was found by local residents while they were landscaping their own backyard. The pyrotechnic group of the SES Mobile Rescue Centre of Rapid Response removed the dangerous object and thoroughly examined the area.
The Ministry of Veterans Affairs informed that the CTF cybersecurity competition was held, with more than a hundred war veterans taking part. As part of the Cyber Defenders reintegration programme, more than a hundred veterans were trained in cyber defence and cyber security. During the competition, participants solved practical tasks based on real cyber incidents.
Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of Darnytsia District State Administration, announced that a humanitarian centre of Nyzhnia Duvanka settlement military administration of Svatove region, Luhansk oblast, has been opened in Kyiv. In the centre, internally displaced persons can receive legal aid, consultations with psychologists and other medical specialists, advice on temporary accommodation, benefits and subsidies in cooperation with their community.
Zhytomyr oblast
According to the regional military administration, there are 53 mobile teams of social and psychological assistance in Zhytomyr oblast. This is a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing prompt and effective assistance to those who need support in the most difficult moments of their lives.
Nataliia Zalevska, a native of Khoroshev, together with her husband Ihor, has delivered nearly 60 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the IDPs since the start of the full-scale russian invasion. The couple now live in the United States, where they collect clothes and other humanitarian aid to send to Ukraine.
Sumy oblast
The RMA reported that at night and in the morning, the russian military attacked Sumy oblast with 16 attacks that caused 23 explosions. Explosives were dropped on Krasnopillia community was attacked with an FPV drone. Nova Sloboda community was fired upon by 2 FPV drones and 3 mines were dropped. Bilopillia community was attacked with mortars (6 explosions). Esman community was attacked with two FPV drones. In Shostka community, the russian military attacked a critical infrastructure facility with the help of aircraft.
The North command also reported that russian drones damaged a house in the village of Krasnopillia community and a critical infrastructure facility in the village of Hrabovske.
As the police said, 27 settlements were shelled by the russian Federation, 109 strikes were counted.
The military administration reported that on 22 July, the russian army attacked the territory of Sumy oblast 29 times, 78 explosions were recorded. Khotyn, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Konotop and Esman communities were affected.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on the night of 23 July, russian troops attacked critical infrastructure facilities of Shostka community in Sumy oblast using an aircraft. Liquidation of the consequences of the accident is ongoing, no one was killed.
According to the Ministry of Energy, on 23 July, 30,300 consumers in 80 settlements in Sumy oblast were cut off from electricity due to hostilities. At night, russian troops damaged an energy facility in Shostka community. In the morning, 25,900 consumers in 72 settlements were without electricity.
Chernihiv oblast
Over the past 24 hours, russian troops attacked the border of Chernihiv oblast with FPV drones, mortars and cannon artillery. 20 explosions were recorded.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: 19 explosions (FPV drones, 120 mm mortars and cannon artillery) in the direction of Buda-Vorobiivska, Mykhalchyna Sloboda and Kremskyi Buhor.
Semenivka community: 1 explosion (FPV drone) in the direction of Halahanivka.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
In the evening, the occupiers continued to attack Nikopol region. They launched about two dozen artillery shells at Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. In the morning, the enemy directed a kamikaze drone at Nikopol. No people were injured.
Three children were injured due to an enemy strike in Marhanets. The occupiers directed a kamikaze drone at a family-type house. Two 14-year-old boys and one 13-year-old boy received shrapnel wounds. The enemy also attacked Nikopol and the Pokrovsk communities, using artillery and drones. A business enterprise, two private houses, a power line, and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that necessary equipment was delivered to one of the hospitals in Kryvyi Rih from international partners. This includes rehabilitation trainers for wounded soldiers, as well as for people with complications after serious illnesses. Mattresses, wheelchairs, examination tables – everything needed for patient care.
Vinnytsia oblast
A warrior from Vinnytsia oblast, Bohdan Shevchuk, was awarded the honorary badge Golden Cross. The award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was given to Bohdan Shevchuk for his conscientious performance of duty, courage, and heroism during the defence of Ukraine from the enemy.
Kirovohrad oblast
Kirovohrad oblast has lost two defenders of Ukraine, Oleksandr Dziabko and Ihor Chornyi.
Oleksandr Dziabko, born in 1972, was a junior sergeant. He was wounded while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Ivanchukiv in Kharkiv oblast and was killed on 22 July, 2024.
Ihor Chornyi was killed on 20 July, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in Polohy region of Zaporizhzhia oblast. The defender was 52 years old.
Poltava oblast
Farewells will be held for the fallen soldiers Andrii Olkhovyi and Hennadii Kostylov.
Andrii Olkhovyi was killed on 18 July, 2024, in Donetsk oblast. The 46-year-old warrior was from Karlivka and worked as an electrician in civilian life.
Hennadii Kostylov was killed while performing a combat mission on 20 July, 2024, on the outskirts of Toretsk in Donetsk oblast.
Cherkasy oblast
The soldiers of Cherkasy 110th Brigade shot down a russian Su-25 aircraft on 23 July in Donetsk oblast. The target was hit in the area of the Pokrovsk triangle.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
On 22 July, the occupiers carried out 463 attacks on 11 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian forces launched 4 airstrikes on Novoandriivka.
211 UAVs of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 14 MLRS attacks hit Robotyne, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka and Mala Tokmachka. 234 artillery strikes targeted the areas of Prymorske, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, Malynivka, Levadne, Preobrazhenka and Dolynka.
19 reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure were received. No civilians were injured.
The russian forces are not only destroying energy infrastructure in Ukrainian-controlled territory but also in temporarily occupied areas. One of Ukraine’s largest wind power stations, Prymorska in Berdiansk region, continues to suffer losses due to the russian occupation of part of Zaporizhzhia oblast. On 22 July, it was reported that one of the wind turbines was destroyed by enemy air defence. This is the 2nd facility damaged by russian military actions in the southern part of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
The Support Ukraine Today CF opened an educational centre in Zaporizhzhia for children from displaced families. The Creation of an Educational Hub for Children in Zaporizhzhia project is being implemented with the support of the USAID Strengthening public trust (UCBI) project. Among the visitors are children from Melitopol, Melitopol region, Yakymivka, Vesele, Polohy and Zaporizhzhia.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, reported that on the morning of 23 July, 4 people were injured due to russian shelling in Ochakiv. Among the injured are 2 teenagers: a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. The condition of the injured is moderate. All injured are receiving medical care. An apartment building was damaged.
Odesa oblast
On 22 July, the enemy launched another missile strike on Odesa oblast. As a result, the facade of an administrative building of a private enterprise, warehouse premises were partially destroyed and civilian vehicles damaged. There were no casualties reported.
According to the Defence Forces of Southern Ukraine, the enemy has deployed 2 missile carriers, 1 underwater and 1 surface, in the Black Sea, equipped with up to 12 Kalibr-type cruise missiles. The russian warships are also on patrol in the Azov and Mediterranean Seas, so the threat of shelling remains high.
Kherson oblast
On 22 July, the russian forces attacked Kherson, Novodmytrivka, Beryslav, Novoberyslav, Sadove, Khreshchenivka, Odradokamianka, Stanislav, Antonivka, Shyroka Balka, Oleksandrivka, Veletenske, Havrylivka, Prydniprovskе and Lvove in Kherson oblast. Due to russian aggression, 7 people were injured.
The attacks by the occupying forces damaged 30 private houses, a commercial facility, a gas pipeline and private cars.
Around 9:30pm, the occupying forces attacked Sadove, injuring 2 local women. In the morning, the russian forces shelled the village again, injuring a 71-year-old woman.
On the same day, the occupying forces struck the village of Kindiika in Kherson oblast, injuring an 80-year-old local woman.
At night, the russian forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, killing a woman.
Kherson Regional Military Administration informed that the russian forces attacked Antonivka by a drone. A 68-year-old resident was injured by the explosion.
On 23 July, russian occupiers struck Kherson again. They attacked a civilian on the street with a drone. The injured man was hospitalised with multiple injuries.
According to Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, Spokesperson of Kherson RMA, farmers are forced to transport their crops to neighbouring oblasts as the russians have destroyed all granaries in liberated part of Kherson. Today, Ukrainian farmers are working under difficult conditions, facing threats from drone attacks, fires and explosive devices left by the russians in Kherson oblast. Despite these dangers, they continue their work, planting fields and harvesting crops.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Lutsk community sent DJI Matrice 30T, 34 DJI Mavic 3, 5 DJI Mavic 3 PRO, 31 DJI Mavic 3T, 50 FPV drones, 7 EcoFlow, 5 Starlink, 2 Alientech DUO II and 8 camouflage nets to the military.
The 7th evacuation train with 41 families came (84 people, including 29 children) arrived in the oblast from Pokrovsk, Donetsk oblast. The IDPs were met by rescuers of the Regional Department of Emergency Services, psychologists of the Rokada CF, and social workers.
Zakarpattia oblast

Lviv oblast
The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the KIND Korean organisation. They discussed cooperation in attracting investments to the oblast.
Charitable events were held in Yavoriv to raise funds for drones for the military. The raised UAH 530,000 will be donated to production drones for the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo.
During the volunteer event in Briukhovychy, those present donated UAH 128,000 for the crew of Eyes of God pilots of the 411th Separate Battalion of Unmanned Aerial Systems.
Over the past week, another 203 people, including 23 people with disabilities, were evacuated from the frontline cities to Lviv oblast. In addition, volunteers continue to provide assistance to IDPs arriving from abroad.
Rivne oblast
15 children from Hoshchan community received Chromebooks, including 10 children from IDP families, thanks to the Prioritet Hoshcha NGO and the Science and Technical Center Podilskyi Bioregion NGO.
Ternopil oblast
The forum Veterans – the Way Home was held in Ternopil. Its purpose is to formulate proposals for improving the state policy of supporting veterans and their family members, families of missing and captured servicemen. The forum was attended by veterans, heads of communities of Ternopil oblast, representatives of organisations working to meet the needs of the rights of combatants, etc.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community passed 300 FPV drones for various units of the Defense Forces. The total cost is over UAH 4.4m thanks to the budget funds.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA held a meeting with the Public Council. They discussed renaming of toponymy objects of the Chernivtsi region, the names of which contain symbols of the communist regime and Russian imperial policy.
Chernivtsi RMA held a meeting with representatives of providers of digital communication channels in oblast. They discussed specifics of activities during martial law and lack of electricity supply, compliance with environmental norms and safety rules when using generators, the procedure for booking employees who are directly involved in the work of repair and adjustment teams.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine will receive $3.9bn in grant aid to the budget from the US. The funds will be used for the salaries of rescue workers, teachers, doctors, as well as for social support programs. The funds will come through the structures of the World Bank.
Belgium will send €1.5bn billion of proceeds from frozen russian assets to Ukraine already this month. The funds will be used for the purchase of the most necessary weapons, anti-aircraft defence, artillery shells and for the development of Ukraine’s defence industry.
Andris Spruds, Minister of Defense of Latvia, announced that the country sent a batch of over 500 drones to Ukraine. This is already the 2nd batch of drones from the 2,500 previously announced drones of various types worth $4 million on the initiative of the Drone Coalition. There were 300 pieces in the first batch.
The Czech Republic joined the international “drone coalition” for Ukraine. The number of coalition members has increased to 16 countries, Great Britain, Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and Sweden are countries that form the “drone coalition” together with Latvia.
Jan Lipavskyi, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, announced that by the end of the summer, Ukraine will receive 100,000 ammunition within the framework of the Czech initiative.
The EU extended sanctions against the russian federation due to the war in Ukraine until 31 January, 2025.
An important strategic meeting with Matsuda Kuninori, Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine, took place in Kyiv. They discussed further partnership, specifically, joint projects related to energy, education and demining the territory of Kharkiv oblast.
