On 21 September, there were 82 combat clashes on the frontline. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the plans of russians.
The enemy launched artillery attacks on the areas of the settlements of Boiaro-Lezhachi, Novovasylivka, Bobylivka, Bachivsk, Kozache, Bila Bereza in Sumy oblast; Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Bleshnya, Krasnyi Khutir, Yasna Poliana in Chernihiv oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks by the invaders, and another battle is ongoing. The enemy launched 7 airstrikes, dropped 17 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 102 artillery attacks, including ten from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, two enemy attacks were repelled, and five more clashes are ongoing. The enemy is attacking near Vovchansk and towards Odradne.
Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian soldiers successfully stopped six enemy offensive actions in the vicinity of Stepova Novoselivka, Nova Kruhliakivka and Kupiansk.
Towards Lyman, there were 12 clashes near the settlements of Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, Torske and Novoselivka, seven battles are still ongoing.
Towards Siversk and Kramatorsk, there were no clashes.
Towards Toretsk, the invaders attacked eight times in the vicinity of Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka and Toretsk, and battles are currently ongoing in two locations. Kostiantynivka was subjected to an airstrike by GABs.
Towards Pokrovsk, there were 28 clashes near the settlements of Pankivka, Nykanorivka, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Chunyshyne, Zvirove, Udachne, Kotlyne and Dachne. One combat clash is still ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the aggressor tried to advance 12 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Filiia, Zelenyi Hai, Piddubne, Maliivka, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Vorone, Novomykolaivka and Zaporizhske. Three combat clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian soldiers repelled the attack of the invaders near Olhivske.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy tried to advance four times on the positions of Ukrainian units near Kamianske and towards Novodanylivka.
Towards Kherson, enemy aircraft struck the settlements of Inhulets and Odradokamianka. Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
At 22:00, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces repelled 10 russian assaults in the Southern Slobozhanske direction today. In the Kupiansk direction, the number of russian attacks increased to six.
During the past day, 151 combat engagements were recorded.
- In the Southern Slobozhanske direction, the Defense Forces repelled 7 enemy attacks in the areas of Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe, and towards Zapadne and Bochkovе.
- In the Kupiansk direction, 4 enemy assaults took place. The Defense Forces repelled russian storming actions towards Myrne.
Around 16:00 in Kupiansk, a woman was injured by an explosion, the Mine Action Coordination Center reported. She suffered an open wound and a broken leg and is in serious condition.
During the past day, three settlements in Kharkiv region came under enemy strikes.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons against Kharkiv region, including:
▪️ 1 guided aerial bomb (KAB);
▪️ 7 Shahed/Geran-2 type UAVs;
▪️ 1 FPV drone.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
▪️ In Bohodukhiv district, a private house, outbuildings, and power lines were damaged (Tymofiivka village);
▪️ In Kupiansk district, a warehouse facility and wheat and sunflower seeds were damaged (Velykyi Burluk settlement);
▪️ In Chuhuiv district, a non-operational enterprise (Chuhuiv city) and a private house (Bilyi Kolodiaz village) were damaged.
Over the past week, russia has launched more than 1,500 strike drones, over 1,280 guided aerial bombs, and 50 missiles of various types. Thousands of foreign components were found in this weaponry — more than 132,000 parts originating from Europe, America, China, Japan, and dozens of other countries.
The transit evacuation center in Lozova received 169 people in the past day. As of now, 68 remain. Since the center began operating, 3,725 people have been registered there.
In Balakliia, almost 90% of the underground school has been built, reported Vitalii Karabanov, head of the Balakliia Municipal Military Administration, to Ukrainian Radio Kharkiv. According to him, construction is planned to be completed by the end of the year so that by early 2026 children can begin blended learning there.
Donetsk oblast
During the past day, 15 russian assaults were recorded in the Toretsk direction. The Defense Forces repelled attacks near Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Stepanivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, and towards Berestok, according to the General Staff report.
In the Pokrovsk direction, there were 52 russian assaults in one day, while in the Novopavlivka sector the enemy carried out another 22 attacks.
Near Pokrovsk, logistics for the Defense Forces are deteriorating due to the activity of russian drones. The occupiers are striking vehicles with FPV drones and “Molniya” drones, reported Oleksandr, callsign “Hrek,” commander of the UAV company of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade.
Ukrainian troops are also complicating the movement of the russian army: russian infantry are forced to walk kilometers on foot to reach the frontline. The “gray” zone near Pokrovsk, controlled by drones, is expanding, the soldier added.
Six settlements of the Komar community and Illinivka community in Donetsk region were included in the list of temporarily occupied territories, according to an order of the Ministry of Community Development.
The death toll in Kostiantynivka has risen to two since the beginning of the day. A person was killed in their own home as a result of repeated artillery shelling of the city, said local military administration head Horbunov.
Kostiantynivka was shelled at least three more times: with Smerch MLRS, a FAB-250 air bomb with correction module, and artillery. Houses, a shopping center, and a store were damaged.
In the morning, the russian army struck the village of Sofiivka in Kramatorsk district with a Geran-2 drone, damaging non-residential buildings, according to Donetsk region police.
Police recorded 2,163 enemy strikes along the frontline and against residential areas.
Six settlements came under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk; the settlement of Donetske; the settlement of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka; and the village of Volodymyrivka.
16 civilian objects were damaged, including 10 residential houses.
- In Pokrovsk, one civilian was killed in an FPV drone strike.
- In Kostiantynivka, russian strikes with air bombs and artillery damaged 6 private houses and 3 non-residential buildings.
- In Druzhkivka, russian forces attacked with Smerch MLRS and dropped two KAB-250 aerial bombs – three houses, an administrative building, and a workshop were damaged.
- In Donetske settlement, a private house was damaged by a drone strike.
In the Myrnohrad community, constant FPV drone attacks make it impossible to deliver humanitarian aid or evacuate people. About 2,000 residents remain in the community. The occupiers are targeting all transport and even pedestrians, including elderly people, said Yurii Tretiak, head of the Myrnohrad Military Administration.
In the center of Kyiv, residents of Mariupol gathered and created a memorial installation, bringing keys from their homes in Mariupol and honoring all those killed in their native city.
Luhansk oblast
Towards Lyman, the invaders attacked 15 times near Hrekivka. In 14 cases, the enemy used barrel artillery, opening fire on our fortifications. It also struck with a multiple launch rocket system. It directed 28 drones and FPV drones towards the Ukrainian defenders.
Russian investors owed more than 187 million rubles to employees of three enterprises of the so-called “LPR”. Among them are two enrichment factories – “Nagolchanskaya” and “Belorichenskaya”, as well as the Dovzhansky Machine-Building Plant, which is engaged in the repair and manufacture of mining equipment.
Russian propaganda begins already at the level of preschool educational institutions. The occupied territory of Luhansk region is no exception. In a nursery-kindergarten in Belovodsk, the invaders dedicated young pupils to “preschool eaglets”. They didn’t even ask their parents’ opinions about their children’s desire to participate in the sanctions-ridden “movement of the first.”

Kyiv oblast
According to the Kyiv City State Administration, Shelters in residential buildings in Kyiv are planned to receive a modern operational control system with sensors for emergencies, safety, and guaranteed access. Installing these sensors and connecting them to the city’s dispatch system will enable a rapid response to flooding, guarantee access for residents, and detect unauthorised entry.
Three categories of energy efficiency measures are being implemented in the capital, and the number of backup power sources increased. Additional high-power generators are fully ready for operation in boiler rooms. The number of mobile boiler rooms has doubled after practical testing. Almost 1,000 residential buildings have backup power sources, and another 905 have undergone thermal modernisation.
According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, a mobile rehabilitation centre based at a hospital has begun operating in Bohuslav, Kyiv Oblast. This is the first module of its kind in Ukraine, equipped with a specialised cryotherapy kitchen. The centre will primarily focus on helping veterans, military personnel, and people with injuries, strokes, and amputations. A unique feature of the centre is an ergonomic kitchen, where patients will be taught to regain their daily living skills.
An anniversary mini-sculpture of the “Search!” project, dedicated to energy workers, was unveiled in Kyiv. The first city power plant in Kyiv began operating in 1890. At that time, it lit up the City Theatre (National Opera), several buildings and fourteen street lamps on Khreshchatyk, which became the first illuminated street. The bronze sculpture is dedicated to those who once brought light to Kyiv and continue to safeguard it today.
Sumy oblast
In morning update on 21 September the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, russian forces carried out ten airstrikes over the past 24 hours, dropping fifteen guided bombs, and conducted 218 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including one by multiple launch rocket systems.
The russian army targeted Sumy oblast towards Stepne, Kindrativka, Oleksiivka, Bilovody of Khotin community, as well as Sadky of Yunakivka community.
Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, said that on the morning of 21 September, russian troops attacked a civilian vehicle by a drone in one of the villages of Shalyhyne community. A 63-year-old driver was injured. The man was hospitalised.

Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of Sumy City Military Administration, informed that in Sumy, at around 2:10am on 21 September, russians attacked warehouse facilities by UAV strikes. Three impacts occurred in the Zarichchia region. According to the State Emergency Service of Sumy oblast, as a result of the attack, non-residential buildings caught fire over a large area. All fire outbreaks were extinguished.

The Regional Military Administration reported that between the morning of 20 September and the morning of 21 September, russian forces carried out 69 attacks on 26 settlements in 16 local communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions.
The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (up to 40 strikes), UAV strikes (up to 10), as well as FPV-drones, multiple launch rocket systems, and dropped VOG grenades from drones over Sumy oblast
Civilian infrastructure was damaged as a result of russian attacks:
- in Sumy community, civilian facilities and non-residential buildings were damaged;
- in Vorozhba community, road infrastructure and a private household were damaged;
- in Velyka Pysarivka community, a private house was damaged;
- in Richky community, non-residential buildings were damaged.
In Okhtyrka, a regional office of the public organisation “Defence of the State” was opened to support veterans and their families. It is headed by volunteer Svitlana Pustova, the wife of fallen volunteer soldier Serhii Pustovyi. Plans include expanding the team and providing legal and psychological assistance to veterans, their families, the families of the fallen, the missing, and those held in captivity.
Chernihiv oblast
In Nizhyn region, russians struck a critical infrastructure facility with a UAV. When rescuers arrived to extinguish the fire, the occupiers launched a repeat attack. Two employees of the State Emergency Service were injured and hospitalised; they are in a moderate condition.
As a result of russian drone strikes on Chernihiv on 20 September, a 21-year-old man was injured and taken to hospital. Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that he was admitted to the neurology department. According to Chaus, in the past 24 hours the enemy shelled 18 settlements in Chernihiv oblast and carried out 54 strikes, with nearly constant attacks by strike UAVs.
Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that throughout 20 September, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy used mortars (17 explosions) and tube artillery (8 explosions), carried out strikes by what were likely “Molniya” UAVs (5 explosions), “Shahed” UAVs (2 explosions), FPV-drones (19 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (13 explosions). Eleven settlements came under enemy fire.
As a result of “Molniya” drone strikes in Semenivka, a non-residential building was damaged. In Snovsk, two residential houses, including a two-storey apartment block, were damaged in a similar strike.
Oleksandr Kodola, Head of Nizyn, said that on 19 September, russian forces employed a new type of attack on Nizhyn, dropping unidentified explosive substances from drones onto one of the city’s central streets.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
From evening until morning, the occupiers struck Nikopol district with drones and artillery, reported the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Mykola Lukashuk. They targeted the district center, Marhanets, and Pokrovske communities.
In Synelnykove district, drones struck Pokrovske and Mezhivka communities, causing a fire. A private house, a utility company, an administrative building, and garages were damaged.
Drones also hit Kryvyi Rih and Lozuvata community, sparking fires.
Throughout the day, the occupiers carried out nearly three and a half dozen drone and artillery attacks on Nikopol district. They targeted the district center, Chervonohryhorivka, Myrivka, Marhanets, and Pokrovske communities. A 68-year-old man was injured. Four private houses, four outbuildings, infrastructure facilities, a car, and a gas pipeline were damaged.
In Synelnykove district, the enemy dropped guided aerial bombs (KABs), targeting Malomykhailivka community. A 76-year-old woman was injured. A kindergarten, private houses, and garages were damaged.
The enemy also attacked Dnipro and Pavlohrad districts with drones, causing fires.
Vinnytsia oblast
In Vinnytsia, a charity run was held in memory of Azov warrior Roman Kolmykov, call sign “Vakhr.” More than 100 participants completed a 3.3 km course with obstacles and raised 88,000 UAH for the Azov brigade. Mothers of fallen defenders also took part.
Poltava oblast
This evening, Poltava region came under attack from enemy drones, reported the Poltava Regional Military Administration. A strike was recorded on the territory of an enterprise in Poltava district, causing a fire. A drone also crashed in an open area in Myrhorod district.
Cherkasy oblast
At night in Cherkasy region, defenders shot down two Russian drones, reported the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, 20 September, the occupiers carried out 523 strikes on 13 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupiers launched one missile strike on Novoivanivske. russian forces carried out five airstrikes on Novodanylivka, Olhivske, and Bilohiria. 331 UAVs of various modifications, mostly FPV, attacked Malokaterynivka, Sofiivka, Huliaipole, Olhivske, Prymorske, Plavni, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novoandriivka. Seven MLRS attacks targeted Plavni, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, and Olhivske. 179 artillery strikes were launched on Plavni, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Novoandriivka, and Olhivske. There were six reports about damage to apartments, private houses, cars, and outbuildings. Three people were injured as a result of enemy attacks in Zaporizhzhia and Vasylivka regions.
Today, 21 September, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled five russian attacks towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv. Over the past day, 20 September, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled seven russian attacks towards Orikhiv and Huliaipole near Poltavka, Olhivske and Novoandriivka.
Yesterday, 20 September, State Emergency Service sappers destroyed three explosive objects. In particular, explosive technicians destroyed remnants of a missile, an aerial bomb, and an improvised explosive device found in settlements of the region.
Mykolaiv oblast
Yesterday, the enemy attacked Kutsurub and Ochakiv communities 19 times with FPV drones. As a result of the attack on the village of Dmytrivka, a 68-year-old woman was injured and hospitalized. By morning, her condition was stable, of moderate severity. In addition, a private house was damaged.
Traditionally, on 21 September, a remembrance event was held in Mykolaiv about prisoners of war and missing soldiers. Two hundred and forty people joined the event, carrying photos of their relatives and acquaintances who are defenders on posters and flags. On this day, Mykolaiv residents also once again came out to remember Ukrainian soldiers killed in the war, and at 09:00, people with posters and flags observed a minute of silence in honor of the fallen defenders.
Kherson oblast
On 21 September, Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that russian forces attacked a resident of the village of Sukhanove in Beryslav region with a drone. A 54-year-old man sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to the head.
In the morning of 21 September, russian forces shelled Sadove. An administrative building was destroyed, and a fire broke out. There were no casualties.
A resident of Bilozerka who was injured during the night shelling by russian forces sought medical attention. As a result of an enemy shell hitting his yard, a 70-year-old man received a blast injury and a concussion.
Yesyerday, 20 September, the russian forces attacked Antonivka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Komyshany, Blahovishchenske, Bilozerka, Dniprovske, Veletenske, Kizomys, Rozlyv, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Sofiivka, Shyroka Balka, Inhulets, Poniativka, Mykilske, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Tomaryne, Zolota Balka, Mylove, Kachkarivka, Dudchany, Osokorivka, Kostyrka, Burhunka, Virivka, Lʹvove, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Olhivka, Novoraisk, Chervonyi Maiak, Kozatske, Vesele, and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, four private houses and the territory of an agricultural enterprise were damaged.
Eskender Bariiev, head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, said that after the occupation of the village Rykove (Partyzany) in Henichesk region, searches began: since March 2022, 10 Crimean Tatars were arrested, whose identities were confirmed. All of them were detained by the occupiers in the so-called “Noman Chelebidzhikhan case” for participating in the Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion.
Activists of the “Yellow Ribbon” movement reported that russian security forces are conducting further illegal searches in Nova Kakhovka, Tavriisk, and Skadovsk in the temporarily occupied left-bank part of Kherson oblast. Residents have their phones, passports, and VPN presence checked. In case of any “violations,” people are placed on lists for expulsion from the region.
Residents of Kherson oblast continue to receive aid from international partners. The Global Empowerment Mission humanitarian mission and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation delivered drinking water to the villages of Bila Krynytsia and Novopavlivka in Beryslav region.

Volyn oblast

The memorial sign was consecrated on the facade of the Department of Social Policy of Ivano-Frankivsk RMA. This is where Volodymyr worked at one time.
Lviv oblast
Belz community received gratitude from the military for the humanitarian aid and cars they provided. Thanks to the solidarity of residents and the support of the city council, it was possible to purchase and transfer a Suzuki Grand Vitara for the military from the city of Belz and the village of Korchiv; a Hyundai Terracan for the 63rd brigade (the village of Kariv). 3 monitors for the FPV unit and provisions were also purchased. The cars were loaded with food collected at the AFU aid centers in Belz region.
The parish of St. Josaphat in the city of Sheptytskyi purchased a car for the soldiers of the Azov regiment. The car was consecrated by Father Mykhailo Nyskohuz, rector of the church, and it will soon go to the front.
In the village of Verkhnie Vysotske, Borynska community, Sambir region, during the Cheese Festival and other charitable events, UAH 70,00 were raised. The funds will be used to purchase drones.
Rivne oblast
Currently, 42,218 internally displaced persons are registered in Rivne oblast. The largest number is in the regional center – 17,587, Varasha – 1,892, and Ostroh – 1,882.
Ternopil oblast
The defender of Ternopil community will receive a one-time financial assistance for treatment and rehabilitation in the amount of UAH 15,000. In the current year 2024, 295 soldiers received it.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that this year, the community allocated almost UAH 240m to support the military, rehabilitation of military personnel, assistance to families of prisoners of war, missing persons, fallen soldiers, etc.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that this week, Chernivtsi oblast said goodbye to six servicemen who were killed defending Ukraine from russian occupiers.
