On 2 February, there were 52 combat engagements in the frontline.
Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the line and disrupting the Russians’ plans. At the same time, the occupiers continue to focus their efforts on Pokrovsk and Kupiansk.
The border towns and villages of the country continue to suffer from russian artillery shelling. Oleksandrivka in Chernihiv oblast; Stepok, Ponomarenky, Popivka, Horky, Riasne, Progress, Slavhorod, Turia, Bachivsk, Bobylivka in Sumy oblast. Oleksandrivka, Sumy oblast, and Hremiachka, Chernihiv oblast, came under air strikes.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy has made 12 attempts to advance towards Ukrainian positions in the areas of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, Zahryzove and Lozova since the beginning of the day. Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks, seven engagements are ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops six times near Novoiehorivka, Makiivka, Yampolivka and towards of Serebrianka. One firefight is currently underway.
Towards Siversk, the Armed Forces repelled one attack by the enemy near Ivan-Daryivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, one firefight continues in the area of Chasiv Yar.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy tried to advance twice in the vicinity of Toretsk and Krymske.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy’s activity is still ongoing. There were twenty-five clashes of varying intensity. Ukrainian troops are repelling enemy attacks in the vicinity of Zelene Pole, Tarasivka, Miroliubivka, Promin, Kotliarivka, Oleksiivka, Dachne and Ulakly. Six more firefights are currently ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the occupiers tried to break through once near Kostiantynopil in the sector, but were stopped by our defenders.
Towards Huliaipole, the aggressor launched an airstrike near Novopil.
Towards Kharkiv, Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Orikhiv and Kherson, the enemy did not conduct any active operations.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled two invaders’ attacks, and two more engagements are ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched three air strikes using four guided bombs.
Ukrainian troops are depleting the enemy along the entire frontline and in the rear.
The State Emergency Service says that emergency and rescue operations have been completed in Poltava at the site of a destroyed five-storey building. The russian strike killed 14 people, including 2 children aged 9 and 12, and injured 20 people of varying severity, including 4 children aged 3 months, 2, 8 and 12.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informs that over the past week, russia has used almost 50 missiles, about 660 attack drones and more than 760 guided aerial bombs on the territory of Ukraine.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
The General Staff reported that towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers have made 12 attempts to advance towards Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, Zahryzove and Lozova, as of 16:00. Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks, seven firefights continue.
The enemy did not conduct any offensive actions towards Kharkiv yesterday.
Towards Kupiansk sector, 17 occupiers’ attacks took place, which were repelled by the Defence Forces in the vicinity of Topoli, Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novosilka, Hlushkivka, Zahryzove and Lozova.
Shelling
At 03:31, russians shelled Kharkiv region, the town of Liubotyn. According to the RMA, an outbuilding was on fire as a result of a UAV (previously Shahed) hit. A 39-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man were injured, suffered 1-2 degree burns, acute stress reaction, and were hospitalised.
2 cars, the roof of the house and outbuildings were damaged. Another 6 houses were also damaged – window glazing, roofs, fences, outbuildings.
At 00:01, russians shelled Kharkiv, Slobidskyi district. As a result of a UAV hit, textiles, paper and polymeric materials were burning in a 2000 sq m warehouse building of a civilian enterprise. There were no reports of any injuries. The fire was localised at 01 hrs. 27 minutes, and extinguished at 09:30, the SES said. There were no casualties.

The day before, at 11:02 a.m., russians shelled Izium region, Donets village. As a result of the Shahed UAV strike, garbage was burning and the windows of a dormitory and 4 cars were damaged. There was no information about the victims.
At 12:25, russians shelled Kupyansk. A minibus was damaged as a result of an FPV drone strike. There were no casualties.
At 14:20, russians fired on Kupiansk. A house was damaged as a result of hostile shelling (presumably by a Molniya UAV). There was no information about the victims.
At 15:25, russians fired at Kupiansk region, Sadovod village, outside the settlement. A UAV hit the ground. There were no casualties.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
The General Staff said that Ukrainian defence forces destroyed two armoured personnel carriers and 18 russian troops in the Liman sector. The Khortytsia unit said that two armoured personnel carriers and a buggy were also destroyed in the Siverskyi sector. russia attacked 19 times in these two areas.
Colonel Syrskyi says that towards Pokrovsk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated over 15,000 russian troops in January .
Shelling
Anastasia Medviedieva, Spokeswoman for the regional prosecutor’s office, informs that a woman was killed during the shelling of Myrnohrad, apartment buildings were damaged .
Vadym Filashkin, head of the military administration, says that in the morning of 2 February, Shevchenko village in Donetsk oblast came under fire, 3 people were wounded and 2 houses were damaged.
Over the past 24 hours, russian troops fired 3,691 times at the frontline and residential areas. The shelling affected 10 localities: the towns of Bilytske, Druzhkivka, Kostyantynivka, Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Siversk, the village of Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka, and the village of Dibrova. 22 civilian objects were destroyed, including 13 residential buildings.

Around 14:00, a russian drone hit the western part of Pokrovsk near a store, damaging a Ukrposhta vehicle.
At around 15:00, the russian army shelled the private sector of western Pokrovsk, injuring a local resident born in 1961. The victim was hospitalised with a torn shin wound.
Around 16:30 in the eastern part of Pokrovsk a UAV hit a civilian car with a local resident born in 1969. The man died from his injuries.
russian unmanned aerial vehicles damaged an educational institution in Myrnohrad, a petrol station and a civilian car in Kostiantynivka, and one private house each in Rodynske and Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka.
The occupiers shelled Bilytske with Smerch multiple rocket launchers, damaging 6 private houses and a civilian car. A similar attack took place in Lyman, damaging three households and a gas pipeline.
Other
Yurii Tretiak, acting head of Myrnohrad MVA, informs that civilians continue to stay in Myrnohrad. People are still receiving humanitarian aid, including food, hygiene and drinking water. On 1 February, a school building was damaged by shelling.
Luhansk region
Artem Lysohor, Head of the RMA, says that russians sent 251 unmanned aerial vehicles to the positions of Ukrainian defenders yesterday in Luhansk oblast. This is the second highest number of UAVs used by the enemy in this sector. They used more unmanned systems in one day exactly one week ago. The occupants fired 21 times from artillery systems of various types. The fighting took place near Novoiehorivka and in Bilohorivka.
In order to receive social benefits in the so-called ‘lpr’, large families are required to present a russian passport and other russian-type documents, such as birth certificates, certificates of large families, the number of the insured person’s individual personal account, certificates from the places of education of children in russian educational institutions, etc. If any of these documents are missing, assistance is denied.
In Siverskodonetsk, the occupiers began to rebuild an apartment building in a new district of the city. First, they dismantled the heating system and the entrance doors of the apartments. They promise to complete the work in a year and a half.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Timur Tkachenko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that in January 2025, russian troops carried out 13 attacks on Kyiv using kamikaze drones. In addition, the capital suffered one missile attack. The shelling claimed the lives of five civilians and injured seven others. According to Tkachenko, over the course of the month, air alerts were declared in Kyiv 60 times, with a total duration of more than 60 hours. The enemy is also trying to destabilise the city by other means: in January alone, 940 reports of mining were received, 785 of which were made in one day.
Ukraine’s first recycling station for demolition waste was successfully launched in Bucha. The project, created with the support of the European Union and UNDP, was an important step in addressing an environmental problem that is relevant for the whole of Ukraine after the numerous destructions caused by the war. The project helped to clean up an area of almost 7 football fields, where 75,000 cubic metres of waste had previously been accumulating.
The city council reported that in Irpin, repairs have been completed in an apartment building at Pavlo Hlazovyj Street. The building needed to be insulated, and during the full-scale invasion of russia in 2022, it was damaged, making the condition worse.
The traditional ‘Free Azov’ campaign was held in Kyiv. As part of the campaign, relatives and friends of the captured defenders of Mariupol gather in different districts of the capital, calling for the release of the kremlin’s prisoners as soon as possible. This time, people gathered in the city centre near Taras Shevchenko National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine.
To support Ukrainian veterans, the network of sports facilities in Kyiv and the oblast has been expanded. More than 150 gyms with swimming pools, training sections and playgrounds already accept payments via Diia.Card. As part of the state programme Veterans’ Sport, veterans can receive a quarterly payment of UAH 1,500 for physical training in gyms.
A documentary film Nemishaieve: Between Bucha and Borodianka was presented in Kyiv oblast. The film tells the story of the occupation of the village during the full-scale russian invasion and the survival of local residents. In particular, the Nemishaivka residents recall how the first occupiers’ vehicles entered the village and how local women learned to make Molotov cocktails to stop the russians. How people hid in cellars and basements, how they helped the wounded in the local cultural centre, and how they baked bread in an improvised oven using flour they had milled themselves.
Zhytomyr oblast
President Zelenskyy posthumously awarded the Order of the Golden Star to the mother of the fallen 23-year-old Hero of Ukraine Oleksii Tsykhanyuk from Zhytomyr oblast. The title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star were also posthumously awarded to Oleksiy’s comrade-in-arms, Ihor Prokopiuk. On 29 May 2023, the fallen heroes were part of a group of six Ukrainian soldiers who repelled an assault on positions in Luhansk oblast. About 80 russian invaders were involved in the assault. The Ukrainian soldiers held back two waves of the attack and prevented the enemy from advancing.
A large-scale modernisation of the heating system was completed in Khochyn Lyceum of the Olevsk community. A modern boiler room was installed there as part of the implementation of Ukraine’s Internal Resilience Plan.
Sumy oblast
Mykhailo Melnyk, Head of Sumy Region State Administration, reported that at midnight, russian forces attacked the village of Sad in Sumy region with a strike drone. As a result, a two-story house, nearby private residential houses, and two cars were damaged.
The State Emergency Service informed that at night, an infrastructure facility in Sumy oblast caught fire. Rescuers extinguished a large fire caused by a russian shelling.
The Regional Military Administration reported that during the night and morning, the russians carried out a total of 19 shelling attacks in Sumy oblast. Twenty-nine explosions were recorded: FPV-drone attacks (4 explosions), UAV attacks (12 explosions), and artillery strikes (13 explosions). The shellings affected Sumy, Stepanivka, Sad, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, and Shostka communities.
Over Sumy oblast, anti-aircraft gunners shot down 13 ‘Shahed’ UAVs. According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, since the beginning of 2025, air defence units in the region have already destroyed 274 russian drones.

On 1 February, russian military forces carried out 35 shelling attacks in Sumy oblast. A total of 90 explosions were recorded. Eleven border communities were affected: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Putyvl, Nova Slobidka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda, and Znob-Novhorodske. The enemy used mortars (20 explosions) and artillery (42 explosions), launched GABs (3 explosions), dropped VOGs from UAVs (15 explosions), and carried out FPV-drone strikes (10 explosions). As a result of the shelling in the Seredyna-Buda community, 2 private residential houses were damaged.
The number of deaths due to russian military attack on Sumy on 30 January has risen to 11. Denys Zhurba, a young man who was admitted to the intensive care unit with severe injuries from the russian strike on the apartment building, has died in the hospital.
In the house damaged by the russian drone in Sumy, electricity, water, and gas supply have been restored, and the lifts are operational. The heating supply is planned to start soon. The Regional Military Administration reported that access to the most damaged entrance is blocked. The day before, its residents, accompanied by rescuers, were able to retrieve essential items and documents.

Police officers from the special unit ‘White Angel’ evacuated an elderly woman from Krasnopillia region to a medical facility. Sumy police informs that the resident needed urgent medical assistance.
Нead of the Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh announced that in Sumy, the construction of a large shelter for a school and neighbourhood, designed for 500 people, is ongoing. The work is scheduled to be completed in 3-4 months. After that, the community will equip the shelter so that students can start the new school year in safe conditions.
Chernihiv oblast
According to the Operational Command ‘North, throughout 1 February, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast. The enemy used mortars, FPV-drones and dropped explosive devices from UAVs.
Horodnia community: Berylivka – 6 hits by barrel artillery.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: Yasna Poliana – 5 mortar hits and 6 hits by barrel artillery; Hremiach – 2 hits by FPV-drones.
Semenivka community: Medvedivka – 4 hits by FPV-drones; Mykolaivka – 7 hits by barrel artillery; Zaliznyi Mist – 8 mortar hits; Hremiachka – 2 drops of VNP from UAVs; Bleshnia – 3 hits by FPV-drones; Tymonovychi – one drop from UAV and 5 hits by FPV-drones.
Snovsk community: Khrinivka – 5 drops of VNP from UAVs.
In January 2025, the pilot project ‘Veteran Care Space’ by the Ministry of Veterans was launched at Chernihiv Regional Hospital and Nizhyn Central City Hospital. The Regional Military Administration reported that specialists will work in the medical institutions to support veterans and demobilized individuals undergoing treatment or rehabilitation there. Currently, the hospitals are setting up facilities and purchasing equipment.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that during the night, the enemy attacked Nikopol region twice with artillery. This was reported by They targeted the district centre and the Pokrovsk community. In Nikopol, 10 private houses, 2 outbuildings, a car, a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Two districts of the region, Nikopol and Sinelnykivka, are under attack again. During the day, the enemy shelled Nikopol region. The occupiers attacked about three dozen times with artillery, kamikaze drones and dropped ammunition from drones. They targeted the region centre, Marhanets, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske communities.
Businesses and infrastructure, 2 multi-storey buildings, 5 private houses, 4 outbuildings, an administrative building, cars, 2 garages and a power line were damaged. In the evening, the enemy attacked Sinelnykivka district. Novopavlivka community was hit with an unmanned aerial vehicle. A private house was damaged there. There is an injured person. According to the updated information, due to the morning attack on Kryvyi Rih in Zelenodolsk community, residents of houses and social institutions were left without heat supply.
Vinnytsia oblast
In the week from 27 January to 2 February 2025, 25 defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were killed.
Kirovohrad oblast
The Hippos Rehabilitation Centre in Kropyvnytskyi offers free equine-assisted therapy classes for military personnel, relatives of fallen soldiers, IDPs and children with disabilities.
Last year, 2,000 war veterans, 1,730 relatives of fallen or missing soldiers, 957 IDPs and 940 children with disabilities received this therapy.
Poltava oblast
The death toll from yesterday’s shelling of a residential building in Poltava has risen to 14 people, including 2 children. One person died in hospital. 20 injured, including 4 children. 22 people were rescued. Psychologists of the State Emergency Service and the National Police helped 206 people, including 11 children.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that at night in Cherkasy oblast, defenders shot down 2 russian UAVs.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the Institute for the Study of War, the russian military has advanced in Orikhiv and Huliaipole regions. The Ukrainian General Staff published a map on 1 February, indicating that russian forces had recently advanced south of Mala Tokmachka. In Huliaipole region, russian forces advanced in the areas of Olhivske, Stepanivka, Dorozhnianka and Zahirne in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that russian forces launched at least 8 strikes on frontline settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed that during 1 February, the Defence Forces repelled 4 russian attacks in Orikhiv and Huliaipole regions. According to the Southern Defence Forces, russian forces are conducting rotations, engineering operations and aerial reconnaissance.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, said that on 1 February, a 46-year-old man was severely injured when a russian drone attacked his vehicle in Malokaterynivka. His condition is critical.
The RMA reported that the concert hall of Zaporizhzhia Regional Philharmonic was damaged in a russian attack on Zaporizhzhia on 1 February. In 2010, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Tourism designated the concert hall as a state-registered cultural monument.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 1 February, the russian military launched 326 strikes on 13 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The 174 drones of various types targeted Zaporizhzhia, Malokaterynivka, Piatykhatky, Lobkove, Huliaipole, Bilohiria, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Malynivka, Olhivske, Mala Tokmachka and Novodarivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to the RMA, on the night of 2 February, Ukrainian forces shot down 2 russian strike drones over Mykolaiv oblast. Debris from the drones damaged 5 private houses. There were no casualties reported.
On 1 February, the russian military attacked the waters of Ochakiv community by an FPV drone. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
According to the Ukrainian Naval Forces, a naval mine was once again washed ashore in Odesa oblast. It was safely neutralised by the Ukrainian Navy.
As of the morning of 2 February, russia deployed 2 warships on combat duty in the Black Sea, one of which is an armed carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo capacity of up to 4 missiles. No russian ships were detected in the Azov Sea.
Kherson oblast
Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson CMA, reported that after 4pm, russian forces launched an airstrike on Kherson, injuring 2 women. One of the victims suffered a concussion, explosive injury, closed head trauma and shrapnel wounds to the back. The other woman, a 46-year-old, was trapped under the rubble of a collapsed house. Doctors describe her condition as critical.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, said that a russian drone attack targeted a public minibus in Kherson, injuring 5 people, including 2 children. All the wounded were taken to medical facilities.

Volyn oblast
In Lutsk, at the annual charity event, the Yavorina Volyn NGO collected UAH 90,000 for the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Hundreds of candles were sold in a few hours.
Zakarpattia oblast
This week, the Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center provided IDPs registered in Uzhgorod with 10 packages with necessary things for children under 1 year old, 50 bags with grocery sets and 80 loaves of bread. During the week, volunteers gave out clothes, shoes, bed linen and dishes (950 items) from the PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. The RMA held a meeting with Najat Maalli Mjit, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children, and Ninke Woppen, Head of the UNICEF Office in Lviv.
Vasyl Shchudla, serviceman of the 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade, received the Golden Cross award.
Rivne oblast
The RMA held a meeting with the relatives of missing servicemen of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade. They discussed sources of information about missing servicemen; the process of searching for the bodies of fallen heroes; the algorithm of actions for granting the status of a missing person under special circumstances; the mechanism for conducting official investigations and legal protection of families; changes in legislation regarding the payment of financial support to family members of missing servicemen.
The RMA reported that in 2024, 131 children from Kherson and Sumy oblasts were cured as part of the Side by Side. United Communities project.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that in the community, 307 servicemen received financial assistance for treatment and rehabilitation.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent FPV drones and quadcopters worth UAH 11.2m to 20 military units.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that last year, UAH 65.5m was allocated from Chernivtsi oblast budget to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the largest amount since the start of the full-scale invasion.

The French Foreign Ministry confirmed that Mirage fighters will be in Ukraine by the end of the first quarter.
The 1st UNESCO cultural hub in Ukraine has been opened in Lviv. The Culture for Peace and Sustainability: Creation of a Cultural Hub in Lviv, Ukraine project is being implemented by UNESCO with the financial support of AECID. It started in December 2022, and today the project has been extended until August of this year. In total, the Government of Spain has invested over $1.7m in the implementation of the hub.
James Appathurai, NATO’s Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Innovation, Hybrids and Cybernetics, at a meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Hybrid Warfare, stated that NATO has confirmed that there was a russian plot to assassinate Armin Papperger, CEO of the Rheinmetall German concern, which produces weapons for Ukraine. This is the first time that a senior NATO, German or US official has officially confirmed that there was a plot to assassinate Papperger. In July 2024, world media reported that the US and Germany had foiled a russian plot to assassinate the CEO of the Rheinmetall concern.
