What happened in Ukraine today:
Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:
On December 19, there were 103 combat clashes on the front. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the enemy’s plans.
The russian army from the territory of the russian federation launched artillery attacks on Progres, Stepanivka, Osoiivka, Oleksandrivka, Novodmytrivka, Porozok, Popivka in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. Oleksandrivka was subjected to NAR airstrikes.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations, however, it launched airstrikes in the vicinity of the settlements of Tsupivka, Mali Prokhody, Vesele, and Udy.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried four times to advance to our positions in the area of Lozova and Kolisnykovka, three attacks were successfully repelled, one combat clash is ongoing.
Towards Lyman, there were seven clashes near Tverdokhlibove, Zelenyi Hai, Terny, and in Serebrianka forest. One clash is still ongoing. The enemy actively used aviation in the direction, and airstrikes were carried out in Tverdokhlibove, Nadiia, Serhiivka, Hrekivka, and Serebrianka forest.
Towards Siversk, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the vicinity of Bilohorivka, Hryhorivka and Verkhnokamianske, a total of seven attacks were repelled, and one more battle is still ongoing. Airstrikes were carried out in the vicinity of Serebrianka, Siversk, Riznykovka and Fedorivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy attacked once in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar.
Towards Toretsk, the invaders tried to advance eight times in the vicinity of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Three attacks were successfully repelled, and five clashes are ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, high enemy activity currently persists. Clashes of varying intensity occurred ten times. Near the settlements of Sukha Balka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Solone and Novovasylivka, Ukrainian units repelled nine attacks, and one more battle is ongoing. The enemy carried out an airstrike with GAB on Vodianske.
Towards Kurakhiv, near Sontsivka, Stary Terny, Andriivka, Kurakhivka and Dachne, three assaults were repelled, five clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, the aggressor attacked ten times in the vicinity of Uspenivka, Kostiantynopolske, Blahodatne, Neskuchne and Novodarivka.Three attacks were repelled, seven more battles are ongoing. Enemy aviation has struck Novodarivka, Temyrivka and Zelene Pole with KABs.
In Kursk oblast of the rf, Ukrainian defenders are still repelling 18 russian attacks, a total of 47 clashes occurred there.
Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.
Serhii Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, says that more than 30 times a day, russia attacked Nikopol region. As a result, 6 people were injured.
Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, reports that Ukrainian food supports 400 million people in the world. Farmers of Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and other regions, who often suffer from enemy shelling, are now not only growing tons of crops, but also taking care of international food security.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
The Armed Forces General Staff said that yesterday the russian army stormed Pokrovsk 48 times. The occupiers tried to advance near Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Chumatske and Zelene.
Towards Kurakhove, Ukrainian troops repelled 25 russian attacks near Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove and Dachne.
Russian troops conducted the same number of assaults towards Vremivka, trying to advance near Kostiantynopilske, Rozlyv, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Novyi Komar and Storozheve.
The invaders attacked toesrds Lyman 24 times. The defence forces repelled attacks near Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka, Nadiia, Yampolivka and Terny.
Kharkiv oblast
Towards Kharkiv, russia did not conduct any offensive actions, however, launched airstrikes in the areas of Tsupivka, Mali Prokhody, Vesele and Udy.
Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers tried to advance to Ukrainian positions near Lozova and Kolisnykivka four times during the day with the support of aviation, three attacks were successfully repelled, and one firefight is ongoing as of 4pm.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv Military Administration, reported that at 4:15pm, russian troops fired a missile at the outskirts of Orishanka village in Zolochiv community.
Six private houses, outbuildings, and gas networks were preliminarily damaged. There was no information on casualties.
The RMA informed that in the afternoon, the russians attacked Kupiansk region. As of 4:55pm, there are three dead and three wounded,. In Shevchenkove, the russian army killed two women, aged 67 and 65, and a 33-year-old man.
Around 3:10pm, russians attacked Dvorichna in Kupiansk region with an FPV drone. Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office said said that as a result, a 54-year-old woman was wounded.
Yesterday, at 10:47pm, Tsyrkuny village was under russian attack. As a result of shelling from MLRS, 9 private households were damaged. Three women aged 57, 62, 75 and one 64-year-old man were injured.
At 3pm, Zahryzove village in Izium region was under russian attack. The shelling damaged 1 private house.
At 1pm, outside of Bidylo village was hit. Two UAVs were spotted in the field.
At 12:24pm, Kyivskyi district was targeted. The roof of a civilian building was damaged as a result of UAV shelling.
At 9:14am, Petropavlivka village was under attack. As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding burned.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy stormed the positions of our units once near Vovchansk, and the Ukrainian defence forces repelled the occupiers’ attempt to advance.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted offensive actions near Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka and Lozova. Ukrainian defenders stopped 18 enemy attacks.
Yurii Fedorenko, Commander of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade, reported that on 18 December, russian invaders attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces towards Kupiansk: they used 25 armoured vehicles to attack near Lozova and Zahryzove.
As a result of increased evacuation measures, 28 people were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova.
Oleh Ivanov, Manager of the Protection and Security Department of the Humanitarian Coordination Centre, said that the number of people agreeing to evacuate has increased due to the frontline approaching Dvorichna community. According to him, 24 people left the community between 1 and 18 December.
Writer and volunteer Yevheniia Dukhopelnikova was killed in the war. The non-governmental organisation PEN Ukraine reported this on Facebook, citing volunteer Kateryna Berezhna. Yevheniia Dukhopelnikova was born in Kharkiv. She volunteered since 2014. She is the author of the book “Girls at War. Dolbokliui’s Journey”. Yevheniia’s husband, 44-year-old junior sergeant Mykhailo Chernyk, is also currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Donetsk oblast
Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of Kramatorsk CMA, said that russian troops struck at Kramatorsk. According to preliminary information, the strike hit the territory of one of the non-operational private enterprises.

The State Emergency Service reported that in the morning, the russian army shelled Lyman. The occupiers hit the town with artillery, damaging garages and two high-rise buildings.
Yesterday the police recorded 2,501 enemy attacks on the frontline and residential areas. Pokrovsk, Ivanopillia and Ulakly were shelled. Nine civilian objects were damaged, including eight residential buildings.

Russians attacked Ulakly with a UMPB D-30SN guided missile, damaging 2 private houses.
Russia shelled Pokrovsk with mortars, damaging 4 private houses.
An artillery strike in Ivanopillia damaged 2 houses and a gas pipeline.

Nazar Voloshyn, Spokesman of the Khortytsia military unit, reported that the russian command is deploying 150,000 russian troops in the three most active frontline areas in Donetsk oblast. In particular, 70,000 occupiers are involved towards Pokrovsk.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders continued to put pressure towards Lyman, where they attacked more than 20 times over the last day, including in Luhansk oblast. According to the Regional Military Administration, they conducted assault operations near Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka and Nadiia. They sent 63 drones towards Ukrainian defenders. They fired at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with cannon and rocket artillery.
In Siverskodonetsk, the occupiers are massively destroying evidence of their war crimes. In the autumn, when they were dismantling the first multi-storey building, they did not announce the timing and scope of the work. The russians started talking about it only yesterday. So, to begin with, the city will dismantle 30 apartment buildings that were damaged by the invaders during the storming of the city in the spring of 2022. As for the facilities where the work has already been completed, we can say that there are no foundations left in place of the buildings. Only archival documentation, if they haven’t destroyed it yet. The buildings to be demolished were determined by the local occupation administration. They said that 30 high-rise buildings were only the first stage. They threatened to continue.
Meanwhile, the locals have not even been provided with heating for the third winter. In the old districts of Siverskodonetsk, excavation works are underway, as if to install a heating system. However, some areas have been in this state for over a year. There will be no heating in this part of the settlement this winter. Significant problems are also observed in houses close to the boiler house. There is either no heating at all or the heat carrier has a very low temperature.

Kyiv oblast
As a result of the night attack in Kyiv oblast, the wreckage of downed russian UAVs damaged a private house. The wreckage also fell on one of the sections of the railway, which was blocked to remove them from the tracks. Currently, traffic on the track has been restored, the regional military administration reported. The alarm lasted for almost 9 hours. There are no casualties among the population.
Kyiv oblast has transferred 120 electronic warfare devices of various types to meet the needs of the military from the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhets, the head of the OVA Ruslan Kravchenko reported. They were purchased at the expense of the regional budget.
The Mobile Rescue Center of Rapid Response of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the sappers neutralized a russian unmanned aerial vehicle Geran-2 with a warhead, which was found in Boryspil region. This was by the . Pyrotechnicians removed the find and neutralized it at a special site.
In Kyiv, relatives of prisoners of war from Mariupol garrison gathered for an indefinite action near the Verkhovna Rada. The participants of the picket, in particular, opened a photo exhibition “Third Christmas in Captivity” to remind about the soldiers who are celebrating Christmas in captivity for the third year.
The Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration reported that A Veteran Development Center has been opened in Kyiv, where military personnel will be able to receive educational services and psychological adaptation. Specialists have already developed programs for short-term courses, including graphic design, web design, their own clothing brand, Ukrainian sign language, online commerce and other areas.
Recently, an All-Ukrainian meeting of young rescuers was held in Kyiv with the support of UNICEF and the NGO Cultural Platform of Transcarpathia. Participants were provided with the theory and practice of safety in the dark, during blackouts and mine safety training. Young rescuers also participated in the co-creation of the brand and vision of the future of the Movement and the development of its values.
The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications reported that in Kyiv, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II will host a presentation of the bilingual publication “Chernihiv at War – 2022: Voices of Eyewitnesses”. The book is a collection of testimonies of residents of the Chernihiv region who survived the siege and occupation in February – April 2022.
Zhytomyr oblast
Deputies voted to restore the building of Lyceum No. 25 in Zhytomyr, destroyed by a russian strike in early March 2022. UAH 15.6 m is allocated from the city budget for the dismantling of the destroyed Lyceum in the center of Zhytomyr. After that, an inspection of the lower part of the foundation will be conducted and a reconstruction project will be ordered.
The regional military administration reported that Zhytomyr oblast is strengthening international cooperation and partnership with France. A meeting was held in Ovruch region with representatives of the European Association of Local Democracy ALDA and the Agglomeration of Saint-Brieuc Armor of the French Republic, in particular with the mayor of Plec-L’Hermitage, a member of the board of the European Association of Local Democracy ALDA, Thibaut Guignard.
Sumy oblast
According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, at approximately 9:30pm on 18 December, russian forces attacked Romny in Sumy oblast. The missile strike caused damage to 16 houses. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. A response headquarters has been established in Romny community to address the aftermath of the attack. Volunteers from Romny branch of Red Cross have joined the recovery efforts.
During night and morning, russians carried out 9 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 15 explosions. The attacks targeted Yunakivka, Pomny, Esman, and Svesa communities.
According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, Sumy oblast has received 180 charging stations from UNICEF. These charging stations, with a capacity of 2 kW, can power office equipment and provide lighting throughout the working day. Alongside their fast-charging capability, the stations are designed to deliver an almost uninterrupted supply of electricity.
Chernihiv oblast
According to Chernihiv Oblast Police, on 18 December, the russian army attacked the border area of Novhorod-Siverskyi region in Chernihiv oblast. A 41-year-old police officer from the Novhorod-Siverskyi Region Police Department was injured by a strike from russian drone while on duty. He was hospitalised in critical condition but later passed away in the hospital.
On 18 Desember, the russian army attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast. In total, 41 explosions were recorded.

Lenkiv – 1 explosion (probably by FPV-drone).

1 local resident was injured as a result of the shelling.
Hremiachka – 3 explosions (probably by FPV-drones).

Zarichiachia – 1 explosion (probably dropping an explosive device from a UAV).
Mykolaivka – 1 explosion (probably by FPV-drone, 1500m from the location).

Huta Studenetska – 2 explosions (probably by 152mm artillery).

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that last night, loud explosions were heard in Kryvyi Rih. A russian missile strike damaged a hospital, a school, a store, 10 cars, 2 apartment buildings and infrastructure in the city. The enemy continued attacking Nikopol region. In the evening and at night, they targeted the area by kamikaze drones, dropped munitions from UAVs and by artillery and Grads. They struck the regional centre and Marhanets community. In Nikopol, shelling caused a fire, igniting a garage. A private house, a canopy, an enterprise, a truck and infrastructure were also damaged.
Throughout the day, the enemy launched nearly 35 attacks on Nikopol region. As a result of artillery shelling in Nikopol, 6 people were injured, 2 of them in serious condition in the hospital. The enemy targeted the regional centre, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrov communities by artillery and kamikaze drones. The attacks damaged 7 apartment buildings, 5 stores, a lyceum, enterprises, infrastructure, 10 private houses, garages, canopies, vehicles, farm buildings, a greenhouse and power lines. Also, Synelnykove region was shelled by artillery, damaging an enterprise and power lines.

Vinnytsia oblast
In Hnivan, Vinnytsia oblast, 32-year-old veteran of the russian-Ukrainian war, Dmytro Baranov, conducts free workshops for children. The sessions teach participants how to assemble drones, use soldering irons and disassemble and reassemble household appliances.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad RMA, reported that last night, air defence forces destroyed an enemy Shahed drone over Kirovohrad oblast.
Poltava oblast
In Poltava oblast, a memorial plaque was unveiled in honour of Hero of Ukraine Andrii Orlov, a native of Poltava who was killed in 2023 in Kherson oblast defending Ukraine from russian invasion.
Cherkasy oblast
Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava RMA, informed that air defence forces destroyed 11 russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast at night.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks in Orikhiv and Zaporizhzhia axes.
Referring to the RMA, on 16 December, russian forces launched 342 strikes on 10 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Among these, 165 artillery strikes targeted the areas of Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Novodarivka and Charivne.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, reported that on the night of 19 December, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed a Shahed 131/136 drone.
According to the RMA, on 18 December, the waters of Ochakiv community were shelled twice by artillery. There were no casualties or injuries reported.
Odesa oblast
Based on the information provided by the Ukrainian Navy, as of 6am, no enemy ships were present in the Black Sea and the Azov Sea. In the Mediterranean Sea, 6 enemy ships were detected, including 3 carrying Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo capacity of up to 25 missiles. During the day, one ship passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea and continued toward the Bosphorus Strait. Meanwhile, five ships entered the Azov Sea, 2 of which came from the Bosphorus Strait.
The Navy also reminded that russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling automatic identification systems.
Kherson oblast
As reported by the RMA, a 52-year-old resident of Kherson was injured by a russian drone strike. He suffered explosive trauma and shrapnel wounds to the jaw and hand. In Antonivka, 2 people, a 52-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, were injured, sustaining explosive traumas and shrapnel wounds to their legs. All 3 were hospitalised.
A 42-year-old man in Sadove was attacked by a drone and hospitalised with explosive trauma, a concussion and shrapnel wounds to both legs.
Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson CMA, informed that russian forces shelled Kherson’s city centre, injuring a 77-year-old woman on the street. She was hospitalised with a concussion and explosive trauma.
In Rozlyv, Bilozirka community, russian shelling damaged a house, destroying the roof, facade, windows and doors. There were no injuries reported.
In Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a russian drone dropped explosives on a 57-year-old man riding a bicycle. He sustained explosive trauma and shrapnel wounds to his left leg.
In Novovorontsovka, a drone attack damaged a store and 3 cars, injuring 6 people on the street. A 58-year-old woman sustained explosive trauma, a concussion and shrapnel wounds to both legs. A 65-year-old man suffered explosive trauma and a shrapnel wound to his eye. A 71-year-old woman had shrapnel wounds to her chest and a 51-year-old man sought medical assistance.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 18 December, russian forces shelled 38 settlements in Kherson oblast and launched a missile strike on Beryslav region. The attacks damaged 3 apartment buildings, 11 private houses, a gas pipeline and vehicles. 1 person was killed and 2 injured.
From Komyshany near Kherson, police evacuated a woman with 3 children, including a 17-year-old girl with a disability. The family was registered as being in difficult circumstances. Police and volunteers from Save Ukraine transported them to Kyiv oblast, where they will receive necessary assistance.
Activists from Yellow Ribbon informed that russian occupiers are conducting searches in villages in Henichesk region. Following lists of addresses compiled by “village council heads”, individuals identifying as russian ministry of internal affairs employees are inspecting phones, passports, searching for Ukrainian symbols and inquiring about relatives who have left the area.

Volyn oblast
The A4594 Military Unit received 3 DJI Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters, a DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopter, 15 thermal imaging FPV drones, 3 Starlink satellite communication systems and 2 EcoFlow Delta 2 charging stations from Lutsk community.
Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA reported that 19 family members of the fallen defenders will receive one-time financial assistance for solving social and household issues.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
In 2025, Ivano-Frankivsk’s budget will amount to UAH 5 bln, and most of it will be spent on education, defense, social protection, and the completion of the Pasichna bridge. The decision was made at the session of the city council on 19 December.
Lviv oblast
The INSO-Lviv Academic Symphony Orchestra held the 4th Power of Art auction, which managed to raise UAH 2m to the defenders of Ukraine. 30 works of art of different styles and eras were put up for auction.
Viktor Maik, Taras Bartman, Mykhailo Pankiv and Taras Lutsyshin, military servicemen from Lviv oblast, were posthumously awarded the III degree Order of Courage, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine. The awards went to the relatives of Defenders.
Rivne oblast
The Police received another anonymous report about the mining of the building of Rivne RMA and the Regional Council. According to the protocol, employees were evacuated. Employees of special services inspected the buildings. No explosive objects were found.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that 19 servicemen of the community will receive financial support for the purchase of equipment and technical means.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
At night, within the limits of Khmelnytskyi oblast, the Air Defense Forces destroyed 2 enemy Shahed UAVs. There were no casualties or property damage.
Khmelnytskyi City Council approved amendments to the budget for 2024. In particular, funds were allocated for construction of shelters.
Chernivtsi oblast
Deputies approved the budget of Chernivtsi for 2025. The total budget will be UAH 4,71 bln. From this amount, the city’s own revenues amount to almost UAH 3.9 bln. Grant funds, which the EU will provide for IDPs’ housing, will amount to UAH 190 m.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine will receive new EU macro-financial assistance of €18.1bn. The funds will be provided within the G7 credit, the first tranche is expected in January 2025.
Denmark allocated over €281m to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. The aid package also includes a financial contribution to the operation of Ukrainian F-16 fighters.
The Rheinmetall German concern will provide Ukraine with 20 more Marder BMPs. Delivery is planned for the first half of 2025.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Emmanuel Macron, French President. Key priorities for further strengthening Ukraine’s position in defense against russian aggression were discussed face-to-face.
