It has been the 1272  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Ukrainian defence forces are holding back the advance of russian occupiers.

At present, the total number of combat clashes is 99. The communities of Zarichchia in Chernihiv oblast and Bobylivka and Zarichne in Sumy oblast have been affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

The settlements of Poliushkyne and Karabany in Chernihiv oblast have been subjected to air strikes with guided bombs.

Five enemy attacks took place today towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk, with two combat clashes continuing to this moment. The invaders’ aviation carried out two strikes, dropping five guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy carried out 95 artillery strikes on the positions of our troops and settlements.

Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy attacked six times today in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Kamianka, and Ambarne. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, two attacks by russian occupiers are ongoing. The enemy carried out six offensive actions in the areas of Holubivka, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove.

Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out 10 attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of the settlements of Ridkodub, Karpivka, Myrne, and towards the settlements of Drobysheve and Yampil. Six combat engagements are currently ongoing.

Towards Siversk, the enemy has attacked three times since the beginning of the day in the areas of the settlements of Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, and Vyimka.

Towards Kramatorsk, Defence Forces units repelled one enemy attack in Chasiv Yar.

Towards Toretsk, our defenders successfully repelled two enemy attempts to break through our defences in the areas of Poltavka and Toretsk.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian occupiers have made 39 attempts to dislodge our soldiers from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Dorozhne, Fedorivka, Nykanorivka, Maiak, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetsk, Novoukrainka, and towards the settlement of Balahan. The defence forces are holding back the offensive and have already repelled 34 attacks.

Towards Novopavlivka, Ukrainian defenders stopped eight enemy assaults, with three more clashes currently ongoing. The enemy attempted to advance in the areas of the settlements of Novopavlivka, Hrushivske, Filiia, Zirka, Vilne Pole, Maliivka, and towards Komyshuvakha.

The enemy did not conduct any assault operations towards Huliaipole.

Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Kamianske and Novoandriivka, and the enemy also carried out air strikes on the settlement of Novoandriivka.

Five clashes took place towards Kherson, with the enemy attempting to advance towards Antonivskyi Bridge, the settlement of Dniprovske, and the area of Bilohrudyi Island. The Antonivskyi Bridge was hit by an air strike.

Over the past 1,010 days (almost three years) of war, the russians have occupied 0.9% of Ukraine’s territory. The occupiers were very successful in the early days of the full-scale invasion, but offensive operations in the north, in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts, managed to recapture a large part of the territory. After 12 November 2022, the enemy continued its active offensive operations — from that date to the present, 5,842 sq km of territory have been occupied, which is 0.96781% of Ukraine’s area.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine reported that another 12 children, who had lived under russian occupation for years, were rescued. They were subjected to pressure and persecution: the occupiers broke into their homes with searches, forced them to attend russian schools and obtain russian passports, and threatened them with forced conscription or separation from their parents. Some of the children witnessed the brutal torture of their relatives or faced humiliation and fear on a daily basis.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline
Over the past day, 182 combat clashes were recorded.

Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy stormed the positions of our units 13 times in Vovchansk, Khatnie and Odradne.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 12 attacks by the occupiers during the day. The defence forces repelled the enemy’s assault in the areas of the settlements of Zapadne, Kindrashivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kupiansk and Nova Kruhliakivka.


Attacks

Search and rescue operations are continuing at the site of this morning’s attack by enemy drones on Kharkiv. The strikes hit the roof of a residential building, causing significant damage. More than 40 units of heavy special equipment and over 140 rescuers are working at the site.

According to the Regional Military Administration, three more people may be trapped under the rubble. Their mobile phones are currently being monitored.

Over the past day, the city of Kharkiv and 10 settlements in the oblast have been hit by enemy strikes.

As a result of the shelling, five people were killed, including two children. Thirty-four people were injured, including six children.

Five people were killed in the city of Kharkiv, including a 1.5-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, and 30 people were injured; a 43-year-old man was injured in the city of Kupiansk; a 49-year-old and 51-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were injured in the village of Lisne, Mala Danylivka community.

The enemy attacked the industrial district of Kharkiv with a missile and five UAVs.

 

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

▪️1 Iskander-M missile;

▪️2 KAB;

▪️20 Geran-2 UAVs;

▪️2 Lancet UAVs;

▪️2 Molniya UAVs;

▪️1 FPV drone;

▪️5 UAVs (type to be determined).

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️in the city of Kharkiv, 19 apartment buildings and 25 cars were damaged;

▪️in Kupiansk region, an apartment building (Kupiansk), apartment buildings and private houses, a car, a farm building (Pidseredne), a business, 6 cars (of Shevchenkove), a farm building (Odradne), and storage facilities (Hnilytsia);

▪️in Horokhovatka, Izium region, a private house was damaged;

▪️in Kochetok, Chuhuiv region, a warehouse and a car were damaged.

According to the press service of the city council, in Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv, as a result of russian attacks that took place on the evening of 17 August and the morning of 18 August, at least 19 buildings were damaged. According to preliminary data, 494 windows and 103 balcony windows were broken, two roofs were damaged, and two street lighting wires were torn down, one of which has already been repaired.

Over the past week, at least 24 settlements in Kharkiv oblast, including the city of Kharkiv, have been hit by enemy strikes. As a result of the shelling, 48 people were injured, including seven children: boys aged 6, 10 and 16, and girls aged 11, 13, 14 and 17. Twelve people were killed, including two children: a 1.5-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

The occupiers caused significant damage to the civilian infrastructure of Kupiansk region, where at least 3 apartment buildings and 4 private houses, a village club, an enterprise, 2 warehouse buildings, 2 farm buildings, and 8 cars were damaged.

Significant damage was caused in the Izyum district: 8 private houses, an apartment building, a garage, 2 cars, a tractor, and a vegetable storage facility.

In Kharkiv, the enemy damaged 19 apartment buildings and 25 cars in one week.

The military situation in the region remains quite difficult. Evacuation from Kupiansk region continues, and a transit logistics centre is already operating in the city of Kharkiv for this purpose. A logistics centre has also been set up in the city of Lozova to receive people from Donetsk oblast and redirect them to safer regions of the country. It is designed to accommodate at least 300 people, where all necessary assistance is provided. 

Donetsk oblast

Frontline
The General Staff informed that towards pokrovsk, russian troops attacked 58 times yesterday, with 51 assaults the day before. The russian army attacked near the settlements of Poltavka, Vilne, Nove Shakove, Zapovidne, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Novoukrainka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Molodetsk.

Another 28 attacks took place towards Novopavlivka and 21 towards Lyman.

The General Staff sddef that over the past day, defence forces advanced in several directions in Donetsk oblast, securing new positions. 7 russian soldiers were captured during the day. Stabilisation operations are continuing in Dobropillia. Airborne assault forces took part in the clearing of villages near Dobropillia: according to the Airborne Forces, Zolotyi Kolodiaz was liberated by soldiers of the 79th Airborne Brigade, and Petrivka by the 82nd Airborne Brigade.

Nazar Voitenkov, press officer of the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade, reported that Ukrainian soldiers of the 33rd Brigade towards Pokrovsk are conducting stabilisation measures on a daily basis and holding the defensive line under pressure from russian assaults. Russian troops are using “drone snipers” that lie in wait for Ukrainian equipment in forest belts, ravines and ditches.

Attacks
According to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, four people were killed and seven wounded as a result of shelling in Dobropillia and Kostiantynivka in Donetsk oblast on 18 August. The russian army used a high-explosive aerial bomb with a universal gliding and correction module on Dobropillia and a Smerch multiple launch rocket system on Kostiantynivka.

Olena Rudenko, director of Kostiantynivka City Council’s multidisciplinary intensive care hospital, and Veronika Bakhal, spokeswoman of Donetsk Oblast’s State Emergency Service, reported that two people wounded during the shelling of Kostiantynivka on 18 August are being treated at a local hospital, one of them on an outpatient basis and the other in the trauma department. Two more wounded rescuers are currently in a hospital in the oblast.

The State Emergency Service said that russian troops attacked a fire station in Kostiantynivka, wounding two rescuers. The building of the fire and rescue station was damaged as a result of the shelling.

Vadym Liakh, Head of the Military Administration, stated that on the night of 18 August, russian troops shelled Sloviansk. According to him, the russian army used three Geran-2 UAVs. There were no casualties as a result of the attack, but an industrial enterprise was damaged.

In addition, early this morning, russia struck Kostiantynivka with a KAB-250 bomb, damaging at least three private houses. Sloviansk was also hit, with damage to the territory of an enterprise.

On 17 August, the police recorded 2,250 enemy strikes along the front line and in residential areas. 15 settlements were under fire: Bilozerske, Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Vodianske, Donetsk, Drobysheve, Novohryhorivka, Novodonetsk, Dovha Balka, Novoyavlenka, Petrivka Druha, Samarske, and Sukhanivka. 54 civilian objects were destroyed, including 43 residential buildings.

The russians dropped a KAB-250 bomb on Novohryhorivka in Kramatorsk region, killing two civilians and damaging five private homes.

The enemy struck Dobropillia with four KAB-250 bombs and drones, killing one person and injuring another. Twelve apartment buildings and ten private homes were damaged. In Vodianske, Dobropillia community, a drone damaged a private home.

The occupiers directed two KAB-250 bombs and three FPV drones at Bilozerske, injuring four civilians and damaging seven apartment buildings and cars.

In Drobysheve, a civilian was injured and a car was damaged as a result of an FPV drone strike.

In Donetsk, russian troops attacked a municipal enterprise with a KAB-250 aerial bomb, injuring one person and damaging the building.

In Kostiantynivka, drone strikes damaged two private houses. In the Novodonetsk community in Novoiavlenka, three private homes were damaged, and one in Samarske.

In Lyman, an educational institution, an infrastructure facility, and a car were damaged. In Sukhanivka, Sloviansk community, a private house was damaged.

Other

According to Roman Zhylienkov, an evacuation worker with the East SOS Charitable Foundation, in Pokrovsk region, specifically in Dobropillia, the number of evacuees has increased. Transit centres are overcrowded, with a particular shortage of places for people with disabilities.

Referring to Kostiantynivka CMA, four people were evacuated from Kostiantynivka community and handed over to the humanitarian organisation Angels of Salvation for further accommodation and assistance. 

Luhansk oblast

The russians attacked 21 times on the Lyman section of the front line. In Luhansk oblast, they attacked near Hrekivka, Krasnorichenske community. Ukrainian defenders are holding their ground there. In total, in our area of responsibility, the invaders carried out 25 shelling attacks with barrel artillery, used 83 unmanned aerial vehicles and FPV drones over the past day.

Of the 60 vocational education institutions that operated in the territory of the so-called “lpr! last academic year, only 37 will be open in September. The russians decided to close 23 colleges due to a shortage of teachers and low student numbers. Another reason was the reduction of relevant funding from the russian state budget. We remind you that this year the invaders also plan to close about 100 schools. This is not about a decrease in the number of applicants. It is about a decrease in the number of children in general in the occupied Luhansk oblast.

In Siverskodonetsk, the russians are issuing inflated electricity bills. Inspectors pretend to take readings during door-to-door visits. However, the bills sent to local residents show amounts that significantly exceed consumption.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast at night using strike drones. The alarm lasted for almost an hour and was declared in the Boryspil and Brovary regions. As a result of the enemy attack, a hangar was damaged in Boryspil region.

Kyiv bid farewell to the deceased artist and soldier Davyd Chychkan. The funeral on Independence Square was attended by the defender’s relatives, colleagues, friends, brothers and sisters. Artist and soldier Davyd Chychkan, who served as a mortarman in the Resistance Committee unit, was fatally wounded on 8 August while repelling an assault by russian infantry in the Zaporizhzhia direction. His heart stopped the next day. Chychkan was 39 years old.

According to the regional military administration, in Kyiv oblast, 215 educational infrastructure facilities damaged as a result of russian aggression have been restored. 1,295 shelters have been set up in schools in the oblast, and the construction and repair of several dozen more is ongoing.

Since the beginning of the year, 56 grants for the development or start-up of their own businesses have been awarded to spouses of veterans in Kyiv oblast, and 54 to veterans themselves. Grants range from UAH 250,000 to 1m, depending on the number of workplaces created.

In Obukhiv region, tactical exercises were held to extinguish a simulated fire in one of the shopping centres. According to the scenario, there was an open fire and heavy smoke, with flames engulfing part of the building and the loading ramp, threatening to spread to the roof. Rescuers successfully practised the algorithm of actions from evacuating visitors and staff to extinguishing the fire and rescuing people.

The training “Effective Representation and Leadership in Veterans’ Policy” took place in Borodianka today, 17 August. The event, which aimed to identify leaders and provide tools for advocating the interests of the veteran community in communities, was attended by about 30 representatives of veteran councils of Kyiv oblast.

Zhytomyr oblast

The regional employment centre reported that since the beginning of 2025, 35 participants of military operations in Zhytomyr oblast have received vouchers for free training, and 99 veterans have undergone free professional training from the employment service, i.e. they have improved their qualifications or acquired a new profession.

In Korosten, work is continuing on the construction of the Walk of Fame in honour of the fallen defenders of Ukraine, which will be located near the Palace of Culture on Hrushevsky Street. The cost of the project is almost UAH 6m.

Sumy oblast

The General Staff reported that in North Slobozhanske and Kursk fronts, four engagements took place over the past day. In addition, russia carried out 10 air strikes, dropping 26 guided bombs, and conducted 227 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including 9 by multiple launch rocket systems.

On 18 August 2025 Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed that russian forces have had no success in Sumy oblast over the past two months. On the contrary, they have lost several settlements, and their latest attempt to advance in the area of Stepne and Novokostiantynivka ended in complete failure — the invaders were destroyed and pushed back beyond the state border. 

According to the RMA, after 5pm on 18 August, Sumy community was attacked by five russian drones. Three of them struck civilian infrastructure, while two were intercepted thanks to the coordinated work of Ukrainian defenders.

During the night of 18 August, the enemy twice struck the territory of Sumy State University — first by a ballistic missile and then by strike drones. Six university buildings were damaged, with roofs destroyed and more than 1,200 windows shattered. An administrative building, vehicles, two apartment blocks, and a private house were also damaged. No casualties were reported.

This was already the third strike by russia on Sumy State University — one of the strongest universities in the oblast. According to the Regional Military Administration, municipal services and volunteers are helping residents cover broken windows, with materials provided by charitable organisations. The State Emergency Service, police, and other agencies are working at the site. Recovery efforts are ongoing.

At night, the enemy struck two older districts of Shostka community. As a result of the attack, a residential house caught fire and non-residential buildings were damaged.

A russian drone attacked a civilian car in a village of Myropillia community. In another russian attack on the evening of 17 August, a 43-year-old driver was injured and taken to hospital.

At around 10pm on 17 August, the enemy struck Nova Slobidka community by a guided aerial bomb. A 57-year-old woman was rescued from a destroyed house and hospitalised. Preliminary reports indicate that around 10 private houses were damaged.

From the morning of 17 August to the morning of 18 August, russian forces carried out up to 90 attacks on 37 settlements in 14 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (30 strikes), dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (over 10 strikes), and also launched FPV-drones, UAVs, and a missile strike on Sumy oblast.

The consequences of russian strikes on the oblast as of the morning of 18 August:

  • In Nova Slobidka community, a woman born in 1968 was injured in guided bomb strikes. 15 private residential houses were damaged;

  • In Myropillia community, a man born in 1982 was injured in an FPV-drone strike. A private car was damaged;

  • In Shalyhyne community, a private residential house was damaged;

  • In Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was damaged;

  • In Krasnopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;

  • In Putyvl community, a private house and a shop building were damaged;

  • In Sumy community, non-residential buildings were destroyed and damaged;

  • In Shostka community, non-residential buildings were damaged.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that during 17 August, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. In total, about 66 strikes were recorded across 11 settlements. The enemy carried out shelling by tube artillery (30 explosions), launched unguided rockets (8 explosions) and guided aerial bombs (7 explosions), struck by Shahed-type UAVs (2 explosions) and FPV-drones (3 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (16 explosions).

According to Regional Governor Viacheslav Chaus, over the past week, the aggressor attacked all regions of the oblast. A total of 47 settlements came under fire. The enemy carried out 168 attacks and launched 349 strikes, including 11 missile and air strikes and 74 using UAVs.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Air defence units were operating in the oblast. Ukrainian defenders destroyed an enemy UAV.

Also, it was loud in Pavlohrad, where a fire broke out as a result of a missile strike. From the evening until morning, the enemy continued to attack Nikopol region by artillery and UAVs. They targeted the regional centre, Pokrov, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities. An enterprise, 2 private houses, a garage, infrastructure, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged. The russian military attacked Synelnykove region, striking Mezhova and Mykolaivka communities by UAVs. A private house and an enterprise were damaged.

During the day, the occupiers launched around 20 strikes on Nikopol region by artillery and UAVs. They targeted the regional centre, Pokrov and Marhanets communities. Fires broke out, 2 private houses, a household building and a truck were damaged. Synelnykove region was attacked by UAVs, with strikes on Pokrov and Mezhova communities. A fire occurred, damaging an agricultural enterprise and a vehicle.

Vinnytsia oblast 

It became known about the deaths of 6 defenders from Vinnytsia oblast: Bohdan Kryvenko, Serhii Poberezhnyi, Vitalii Kirhan, Anatolii Novachuk, Dmytro Liubatskyi and Mykhailo Herepechuk-Berezhanyn.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that 16 internally displaced persons from Donetsk oblast were evacuated to Dolynka community in Kirovohrad oblast.

Olena Mykhalchenko, Deputy Director of the Regional Department of Social Protection, reported that there are 231 places in Kirovohrad oblast for free accommodation of people displaced from combat zones. These include rooms arranged in former kindergartens, schools, first-aid and obstetric stations and dormitories. Currently, 82,000 displaced persons reside in the oblast.

Kirovohrad oblast paid tribute to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ihor Tkachov from Oleksandriia community and Serhii Martsynkevych from Onufriivka.

Ihor Tkachov was killed on 12 August during a combat mission near Snizhkivka village, Kharkiv oblast.

Serhii Martsynkevych was killed on 10 August 2025 near Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk region, Donetsk oblast.

11-year-old Maksym Bevz from Kropyvnytskyi has been continuously helping the military since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In September 2022, he set up a checkpoint and since then has been raising funds for the treatment of the wounded and providing support to military units. He makes trench candles and brings gifts to servicemen in hospitals. His initiative is supported by his parents.

Poltava oblast

According to Poltava Regional Military Administration, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi awarded 5 rescuers from Poltava oblast with the medals Defender of the Fatherland. The President presented the medals for courage shown while performing official duties in de-occupied territories and for dedicated service to the people of Ukraine. The recipients are Mykhailo Kisielov, Serhii Krokovnyi, Serhii Marchenko, Vadym Kutsenko and Andrii Terekhov.

Cherkasy oblast

In Zhashkiv region, a memorial ceremony was held for soldier Vadym Korniichuk, who was killed in action on 31 July in Zaporizhzhia oblast. He was 34 years old.

 

In Zorivka village, residents paid tribute to serviceman Viktor Sorokoletov, who had been considered missing since May 2024. It was officially confirmed that he was killed on 21 May 2024 in Donetsk oblast during enemy assault actions.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On 18 August, around 9am, russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia, and two powerful explosions were heard. Apartment buildings, shops, and a bus stop complex were damaged. Currently, 24 people are reported injured and 3 killed.

Yesterday, 18 August, the occupiers carried out 502 strikes on 14 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 6 airstrikes on Novoiakovlivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Malynivka. 336 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Bilenke, Veselianka, Plavni, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Malynivka, Shcherbaky, Novodanilivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. 4 MLRS strikes hit Plavni, Preobrazhenka, and Novodanilivka. 156 artillery strikes targeted Plavni, Prymorske, Hulyaipole, Orikhiv, Malynivka, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. There were 20 reports of destroyed houses, farm buildings, and cars. One child was killed, 2 children and 4 adults were injured as a result of an enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia oblast.

According to the General Staff, as of 4pm on 18 August, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Kamianske and Novoandriivka towards Orikhiv. During the past day, 17 August, the Defense Forces repelled one russian assault towards Orikhiv.

In the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region, particularly in Berdiansk, the occupiers are introducing restrictions on water supply. The russian occupation authorities issued an order setting maximum water consumption limits for the population in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, 17 August, at 6:33pm, the enemy attacked Halytsynivka community with an FPV drone. Six outbuildings and a car caught fire in the village of Lymany.

Also yesterday, 17 August, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community four times with FPV drones. At 12:50pm, the russian army shelled the community with artillery. As a result of the attack windows of a private house were damaged in the village of Dmytrivka. Yesterday, the enemy also attacked the coastal area of the city of Ochakiv with an FPV drone. There were no casualties.

Odesa oblast

The enemy once again attacked Odesa oblast with strike drones. A fire broke out in the suburbs of Odesa at a fuel and energy infrastructure facility and a two-story building. Media reports say it was the SOCAR oil depot. In particular, APA writes that 17 fuel tanks, a pumping station building, operator and technical facilities, and weigh stations were damaged, and the site’s fence was destroyed.

According to the South Air Command, air defense forces shot down more than 20 drones.

Kherson oblast

Today, around 3:20pm, russians shelled Kherson. A 67-year-old man came under attack. Preliminary reports indicate he sustained a blast injury.

On 18 August, at approximately 12:30pm, the russian army attacked a car on the highway in Bilozerka community with a drone. A 44-year-old man suffered a blast injury, multiple shrapnel wounds to the face, chest, arms, and legs, as well as a traumatic finger amputation.

Around 8am, russian occupiers attacked a man in Kherson with a drone. The 61-year-old victim was diagnosed with a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to the abdomen and legs.

At about 7am, russian forces shelled Bilozerka with artillery. A 52-year-old man sustained a blast injury and a burn to his hand.

A man who was injured earlier in the morning during a russian drone attack on the highway in Bilozerka community was taken to the hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that the 32-year-old resident suffered a blast injury.

Yesterday, 17 August, the russian army targeted civilian infrastructure in Kherson and Beryslav regions using artillery, aviation, and UAVs. Kherson, Antonivka, Sofiivka, Prydniprovske, Kizomys, Veletenske, Bilozerka, Oleksandrivka, Berehove, Dniprovske, Novodmytrivka, Beryslav, Novoraisk, Sablukivka, Odradokamianka, Burhunka, Olhivka, Mykolaivka, Tiahynka, and Lvove came under attack. Five private houses, a critical infrastructure facility, an educational institution, a car, and a moped were damaged. Three people were injured in the shelling.

Over the past week, from 11 to 17 August, 2025, the enemy attempted to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders on the left bank of the Dnipro 34 times. All attempts were unsuccessful. During this period, Ukrainian fighters eliminated 55 occupiers and destroyed 108 pieces of russian weaponry and equipment.

More than 530 residents received assistance from Fortitude mobile clinics in Kherson oblast. Last week, doctors worked in Vysokopillia, Ivanivka, Mykolaivka, Mala Shestirnia, and Novohryhorivske in Beryslav region. Consultations were provided by a family doctor, ophthalmologist, neurologist, ENT specialist, cardiologist, and endocrinologist.

Zakarpattia oblast

The oblast has received a new group of internally displaced persons from Dnipropetrovsk oblast. Rescuers, volunteers, and social service workers met the displaced people at the station. Families will be placed in prepared living quarters, where everything necessary for the 1st days is provided: warm rooms, food and basic necessities.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk community sent a Matrice 4T quadcopter to the 81st brigade thanks to the Competition of Projects and Programs (with co-financing of 80% to 20%, where 80% is from the budget).

Lviv oblast

A Don’t Be Silent! A Prisoner Kills! rally in support of prisoners of war took place in Lviv. The action began near the monument to Taras Shevchenko, after which participants marched to Ivan Franko Park, where an installation was created on the fence.

Thanks to caring people, volunteers, artists and partners, YANTARNE FEST 2025 managed to raised UAH 193,600, which has already been directed to the needs of the defenders: UAH 150,000 for the Special Operations Forces; UAH 38,000 for a car for the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians; UAH 5,600 for materials for camouflage nets, which are woven in Novoiavorivskyi school №2.

20 participants, including veterans with prostheses and in wheelchairs, took part in a horseback ride at Skarbova Hora ranch in the village of Lopushna as part of the Wandering Therapy project.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with heads of healthcare institutions in Rivne oblast. They discussed the problems faced by veterans in the medical field.

Ternopil oblast

Servicemen from Ternopil receive funds to purchase ammunition and equipment. During 2024, 3,198 soldiers received such assistance.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A charity fair was held in the village of Maliivtsi, on the territory of the Orlovsky Palace. The key goal of the event was to raise funds for the needs of Khmelnytskyi Military Hospital.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously) was awarded to senior soldier Nadia Smuk.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The British government website stated that the Coalition of the Willing has confirmed that it is ready to deploy a deterrent force in Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities as a security guarantee.
