The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the advance of russian occupiers. Terrorists continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with rocket, air and artillery strikes.
The Defense Forces are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory. On 14 December, there were 166 combat clashes.
Huta Studenetska, Halahanivka, Berylivka, Mykolaivka, Tymonovychi in Chernihiv oblast; Dmytrivka in Sumy oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire. An airstrike was carried out on the settlement of Oleksandrivka in Chernihiv oblast.
Towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers twice attacked the positions of the Defense Forces near Lozova.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Pershotravneve, Zelenyi Hai, Kopanky, Novoserhiivka, Nadiia, Makiivka and Terny. Three clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the occupying forces continue to look for weak points in the Ukrainian defense near Verkhnokamianske, Bilohorivka, Spirne, Viimka and Berestove. The defense forces successfully repelled eight enemy attacks, three clashes are ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched airstrikes with four guided bombs on Siversk and Hryhorivka.
Towards Toretsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy assaults in the vicinity of Toretsk. In addition, the enemy launched six airstrikes in the vicinity of Krymske and Petrivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 19 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders out of the occupied positions near Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Novyi Trud and Novoolenivka. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelling 17 enemy attacks, two clashes are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched two airstrikes with guided bombs in the vicinity of Stara Mykolaivka and Nova Poltavka settlements.
Towards Kurakhove, the enemy army attacked 28 times near Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Zoria, Kurakhove, Lysivka, Yelizavetivka, Hannivka and Uspenivka. Nineteen attempts by the occupiers to advance were repulsed.
Towards Vremivka, the enemy tried 19 times to break through the defenses of Ukrainian defenders in thevicinity of the settlements of Trudove, Veselyi Hai, Kostiantynopolske, Rozdolne, Novyi Komar, Novoandriivka; so far, 11 clashes occurred, in addition, the enemy dropped two guided aerial bombs on the vicinity of Temyrivka and Novopol.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy launched airstrikes with unguided missiles on the settlement.
Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne were hit by aerial guided bombs towards Orikhiv.
Towards Kherson, the enemy launched airstrikes with unguided missiles on Mykolaivka.
In Kursk oblast, there were 45 clashes, 26 of which are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out seven airstrikes, dropping ten guided bombs and carrying out 212 artillery attacks on russian settlements and the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
In the remaining areas of the front< there were no significant changes.
The Air Force reported that on the night of December 14, russia launched 132 strike drones over the territory of Ukraine. Of these, 58 were shot down, another 72 lost in location, and another 2 returned to the russian federation.
The Ministry of Energy reports that in a day, energy workers managed to restore electricity supply to 40,156 consumers across the country.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that there were 62 russian attacks on Pokrovsk sector of the front over the past 24 hours. russian troops tried to advance near Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Promin, Dachenske, Shevchenko, Vidrodzhenka, Zelene, Pishchane and Chumatske.
Another 35 assaults were repelled by Ukrainian troops towards Vremivka in the vicinity of Trudove, Veselyi Hai, Konstantynopolske, Sukhi Yaly, Blahodatne, Storozheve, and Neskuchne.
Towards Kurakhove, the russian army tried to advance, in particular, towards Stari Terny, Sontsivka, Zori, Kurakhove, Hannivka and Uspenivka.
Kharkiv oblast
Kharkiv regional police reported that at around 16:50, russia struck Borova, Izium region, with a FAB from the UMPK. According to police, a private residential building and an outbuilding were damaged as a result of the hit, and there were no injuries.
At 06:00, an abandoned building in Bilashy, Derhachi hromada, was on fire due to a Shahed strike, the regional police reported.
Oleksandr Hololobov, Head of the community, reported that at around 04:00, a UAV attacked one of the settlements in Malodanylivska community. The drone fell onto the ice covering the pond. Several residential buildings were damaged, their windows were broken.

The RMA reported that at 22:10, russian aviation launched strikes with three KABs on Zolochiv community. Two hit near the village of Baranivka, another one near the village of Postolne.
At 18:00, Russians attacked the village of Senkove, Kupianskregion. A 69-year-old man was injured as a result of the shelling.
At 11:00, near the village of Kamianka, Izium region, a pyrotechnic unit exploded on an explosive object during an inspection of the territory. 3 pyrotechnicians were injured.
At 08:00, russians hit village of Myrne, Berestyn region. As a result of the rocket attack, 4 people were injured.
Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists once attacked near Vovchansk. The battle is still ongoing. The enemy launched airstrikes on Hraniv and Vovchanski Khutory with KABs.
The enemy attacked ten times towards Kupiansk, near Kolisnykivka, Bohuslavka, Zahryzove and Lozova. Two battles are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched airstrikes on Nova Kruhliakivka and Bohuslavka.
26 people were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.
Donetsk oblast
Khortytsia military unit reported that russian occupiers advanced near Chumatske and Pishchane, as well as to the east and west of the village of Shevchenko towards Pokrovsk sector of the front. The Ukrainian military is trying to restore the tactical position.
Bohdan Petrenko, head of the communications department of the 48th brigade, says that the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled a mechanized assault on Velyka Novosilka. Russian troops stormed the city from two sides.
The day before, the police recorded 1,846 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector. The enemy attacked three cities: Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Mykolaivka. 15 civilian objects were destroyed, including 13 residential buildings.
In Pokrovsk, the occupiers damaged two houses with drones, one was completely destroyed.
russian troops bombarded Mykolaivka with Smerch MLRS – 11 private homes, an electrical network, and a heating main were damaged.

Roman Zhilenkov, evacuation worker from the charity fund Vostok SOS, informs that despite the gas supply cutoff, problems with heating, electricity and water, the evacuation from Pokrovsk has not intensified over the past week. russians are firing FPV drones and hitting civilian cars.
A serviceman of the 68th separate chasseurs brigade under the pseudonym “Tray” says that near Pokrovsk, the russian army compensates for the lack of armored vehicles with the number of manpower. When one brigade “wears out” in the assaults, another is put in its place.
Luhansk oblast
On this section of the front, the invaders attacked both towards Siversk and Lyman. The enemy assault was repelled from Belohorivka. russians also unsuccessfully tried to advance towards Hrekivka, Nadiia, Makiivka and Dibrova. The enemy shelled the positions of Ukrainian fighters with artillery and sent 58 drones. It struck the fortifications near Serhiievka and in Serebrianka Forest with unguided aircraft missiles.
The occupiers reported on the results of restoration work in Lysychansk during the current year. According to their information, in the damaged front-line city, repairs were carried out in only four high-rise buildings in 2024. This is significantly less than in rear cities that were not affected by hostilities.
Things are even worse in neighboring Pryvil, where they are not even trying to repair communications. Drinking water was available there more than two and a half years ago. The centralized water supply system in the settlement has not yet been repaired. Technical water is delivered from time to time, but it is paid for.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that drone debris in one of the settlements of Kyiv oblast damaged the administrative building of an enterprise, two warehouses and a car. The alarm was raised three times at night. There were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure, no casualties among the population.
KCMA stated that as a result of the russian attack on the night of 14 December, the wreckage of drones fell in Darnytskyi district of the capital in an open area. The air alert in Kyiv lasted three and a half hours in total. The Defence Forces detected and neutralised about a dozen enemy UAVs around the capital.
The course ‘Preparing the Population for National Resistance’ for members of the NGO Ukrainian Women’s Guard continues in Irpin. The UWG representatives are taking tactical medicine, military training, military topography and military communications. Classes are taught by instructors from the Irpin City Territorial Community Volunteer Unit. The basic training course lasts 100 training hours.
The Association of Muslims of Ukraine reported that the mosque in the Islamic Cultural Centre of the Association of Muslims of Ukraine in Kyiv, damaged by russia during a massive missile strike in September, has been repaired.
Kyiv City Military Administration reported that more than 90 certificates for the purchase of housing were handed over to veterans in Kyiv on 13 December. In total, in 2024, almost UAH 2 billion was allocated for housing programmes in the capital for 724 recipients. Another UAH 850 million for 339 recipients will be transferred in the coming days.
Kyiv City State Administration announced that almost 6,000 users have registered on the Portal of Defenders during the eight months of its beta version. It contains information on all services and benefits provided by Kyiv for the military. Users have applied for almost 1,400 services online. Applications for services that are not yet available online can be submitted through the Kyiv Military Hub.
On 10 December, a special presentation of the Ukrainian feature film ‘Bucha’ was held in the European Parliament in Brussels. The film tells the true story of volunteer Konstantin Gudauskas, a Kazakh citizen of Lithuanian origin who lives in Ukraine and risked his life to evacuate more than 200 people from the occupation.
Zhytomyr oblast
Lyceum No. 25 in Zhytomyr, which was destroyed by an enemy air strike in 2022, is to be dismantled in 2025. First, the four floors of the above-ground part of the destroyed lyceum will be dismantled, and then the foundation will be examined. Dismantling work is scheduled to begin in January.
During the hackathon, Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University presented a project for demining that won first place. ‘The Mobile Platform for Recognition of Mines and Other Explosive Devices is a wheeled platform with a metal detector and an integrated neural network that is trained to identify the type of mines. The Hardware Hackathon was dedicated to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, and nearly 100 students and lyceum students registered for it.
The book ‘Ukraine is not silent. A Chronicle of War-Related Sexual Violence (2022-2024)’ was presented in Zhytomyr. The book documents 25 interviews with international and Ukrainian experts who share their experience of countering this phenomenon and helping victims.
Sumy oblast
During night and morning, russians carried out 5 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 43 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Krasnopillia, and Esman communities.
Khotin community: the enemy fired by artillery (17 explosions) and MLRS (20 explosions).
Krasnopillia community: artillery shelling (4 explosions).
Esman community: russians dropped 2 mines on the territory of the community.
On 13 Desember, russians carried out 32 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 53 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Buryn, and Seredyna-Buda communities.
Yunakivka community: GAB launches (3 explosions), mortar shelling (3 explosions), attack by FPV-drones (2 explosions).
Bilopillia community: VOG was dropped from a UAV (1 explosion).

Kozelets Settlement Council reported that in Patiuty village, Chernihiv region, residents paid tribute to Vasyl Halahan on 14 December. He tragically lost his life while serving in the military.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk City Council, reported that the Air Armed forces of Ukraine were working late last night and this morning. Three private houses, a shop and a power line were damaged in Samarivske district as a result of russian attacks.
An actor from Dnipro, Yakiv Tkachenko, who starred in the film Dovbush, was killed at the front. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man joined the territorial defence, was injured, but after treatment he returned to the frontline.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad RMA, reported that at night, the Armed Forces shot down russian chessmen.
Poltava oblast
A modular house for IDPs is being set up in Poltava. It was brought by representatives of the Christian Refugee Fund and built in the Krutyi Bereg neighbourhood. Now they are connecting communications and planning to bring furniture and appliances. It will be able to accommodate 25 people.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that in Cherkasy oblast, 25 Shaheds were destroyed overnight.
In one case, shrapnel damaged a power supply line — repairmen acted quickly. UAV debris damaged several private houses and an outbuilding in Zvenyhorod region.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that 2 people were injured due to russian shelling of Bilenke village in Zaporizhzhia oblast. A car and a gas station were damaged in the attack.
A 62-year-old man was injured in a russian drone attack on Prymorske village. One of the drones struck a car and the man passing nearby was injured. He was hospitalised.
According to Operational Command South, the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks near Novodarivka and Nove Pole in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian forces are conducting personnel rotations in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that on 23 December, russian forces carried out 166 strikes on 10 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 89 artillery strikes on Lobkove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Malyshivka, Olhivske and Novodarivka.
Referring to the National Resistance Centre, in temporarily occupied Melitopol, residents have been told that debts for utilities are being recalculated from the start of the occupation. Those who fail to pay may lose their homes.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, stated that during the day, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community by an FPV drone, hitting a service vehicle belonging to Ukrposhta (Ukrainian Post). The injured driver was hospitalised in serious condition and is receiving all necessary medical care.
According to the RMA, during the night of 14 December, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed a Shahed-136/131 drone.
Vitalii Kim, Head of the RMA, reported that on 13 December at 10:40am, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community by an FPV drone. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Ukrainian Air Force stated that today, during a ballistic weapon threat from Crimea, explosions were heard in Odesa.
According to Operational Command South, in southern Ukraine, air defence forces downed 4 Shahed drones, while one was lost from radar tracking. Also, 2 Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones were destroyed.
Kherson oblast
Relying on the information provided by the RMA, a 63-year-old resident of Antonivka, a suburb of Kherson, was injured in a russian drone attack. She sustained a mine-blast injury, shrapnel wounds to her forearm and a fracture.
The russian artillery shelled Komyshany village near Kherson. 2 people suffered concussions, explosive injuries and head trauma.
In Tsentralnyi district of Kherson, russian forces dropped explosives from a drone, injuring a 65-year-old man. He sustained shrapnel wounds to his face, arms and legs.
In Novooleksandrivka, russian artillery injured a 65-year-old woman who was outside during the attack. She was hospitalised.
A morning russian shelling in Bilozirka damaged the roof and shattered windows of one building, while another building’s roof and windows were affected by the blast wave.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, said that on 13 December, 2 people were killed and 6 others injured due to russian shelling in Kherson oblast. The russian forces shelled 17 settlements, damaging 2 private and 3 high-rise buildings and cars.
Police reported that they evacuated a mother and her child from Stanislav in Kherson oblast, transferring them in Kherson to representatives of the NGO Save Ukraine. The woman and her 7-year-old son are now on their way to Kyiv.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk Department of the Military Rescue Service received 5 Lenovo laptops. The 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade received 8 DJI Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters. Lviv oblast sent 12 Mavic 3 T unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) worth UAH 2m to the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment from the regional budget as part of the Safe Lviv Oblast program. In general, over UAH 18m were allocated to the needs of the border detachment this year.
Memorial plaques to fallen Heroes were installed on the facade of a gymnasium named after Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi in Strii. 4 soldiers were immortalized: Markiian Panylyk, Ruslan Stelmakh, Kostiantyn Stepanov and Vladyslav Palenychka.
In Strii, a memorial plaque was installed on the facade of the gymnasium in the village of Strelki. The memory of the young defender Volodymyr Mykhailiuk, machine gunner in the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave, was honored at the educational institution. He was killed on 19 May 2024 during a combat mission near the village of Nevske, Luhansk oblast.
Rivne oblast
In Rivne oblast, Pension Fund employees are taught how to combat stress. It was organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy and the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Over the course of 2 weeks, teams of Rivne and Sarny Sustainability Centers will involve over 70 specialists from Rivne, Sarny, Radyvyliv, Dubno, Demydivka, Rokytny, Dubrovitsa and Zarichne.
Ternopil oblast
The 105th Territorial Defense Brigade received a Mitsubishi L-200 vehicle, an Ant complex, 2 Parasol anti-drone missiles, an anti-drone gun and 30 FPV drones and accessories from Ternopil community.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
In Khmelnytskyi oblast, a program of support for the wives of fallen Heroes will be launched on the basis of the “equal to equal” principle. This approach has long been successfully implemented in the USA, helping families of veterans, specifically women who have experienced the loss of their husbands, not only to receive help, but also to find support and strength to overcome painful losses.
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 118 orphans or children deprived of parental care in 2025 will traditionally receive so-called pocket money.
Amendments to the budget for 2024 were approved. Another UAH 32m was added for defense capability, specifically, for direct support of units, acquisition of anti-aircraft missiles, EW, RER, quadcopters, material payments.
Chernivtsi oblast
UAH 2m was allocated for the purchase of a car for the mobile team of social and psychological assistance, which works with persons affected by domestic violence. Such an initiative will help provide aid faster and more efficiently.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The US Ministry of Defense announced the allocation of a new package of military aid worth $500m to Ukraine from the PDA program (direct supplies from the reserves of the US Army). The package is aimed at meeting the critical needs of Ukraine. The package includes: ammunition for countering unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS); ammunition for HIMARS; 155-mm and 105-mm artillery ammunition; AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles; UAV; MRAPs; HMMWV; light tactical vehicles; means of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear protection; ATGM Javelin and AT-4; PTKR TOW; cartridges for small arms; equipment and ammunition for demolition works; spare parts, support equipment, services, provision of training and logistics.
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Ukraine on 16 December. The theme of the meeting will be maintaining peace and security of Ukraine. It was convened to consider the humanitarian consequences of russia’s armed aggression, in particular its massive shelling of the civilian population and critical infrastructure of Ukraine.
