Today, communities in the settlements of Huta-Studynetska, Kliusy, and Bleshnia in Chernihiv oblast; Bezsalivka, Rohizne, Ryzivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Ulanove, Malushyne, Budky, and Chernatske in Sumy oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk, the enemy carried out 61 attacks, including two with multiple launch rocket systems. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has not carried out any offensive actions.
Towards South Slobozhanske, the Defence Forces repelled four enemy attacks in Kruhle, Ternova, Obukhivka and Prylipka. One combat engagement is currently ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attempted to advance towards Petropavlivka and Kurylivka.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out six attacks on Ukrainian positions in the area of the settlement of Novoselivka and towards the settlements of Lyman, Stavky, and Drobysheve. One combat engagement is ongoing.
Towards Sloviansk, the russians attempted to advance on the positions of our troops in Sviato-Pokrovske.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the enemy attempted 13 times to break through our defences near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar and towards Sofiivka. Fighting continues.
Towards Pokrovsk, since the beginning of the day, russian occupiers have made 21 attempts to dislodge our soldiers from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetsk, Filiia, and Kucheri Yar. The defence forces are holding back the offensive and have already repelled 17 attacks.
Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven assaults by enemy troops. The enemy is trying to advance in Zlahoda and Nove Zaporizhzhia, with one combat engagement ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, 24 clashes took place in the areas of the settlement of Huliaipole and towards Olenokostiantynivka and Varvarivka. In some locations, fighting continues to this day. Verkhnia Tersa, Barvinivka, and Liubytske were subjected to air strikes with KABs.
The enemy did not conduct any offensive operations towards Orikhiv.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal said that in 2025, the Ministry of Defence allocated more than $6bn to the Ukrainian defence industry. Of this amount: almost $1.8bn was allocated to the production of Ukrainian weapons within the framework of the “Danish model”. Ukraine attracted over $4.3bn through direct purchases by partner countries from domestic manufacturers for the needs of the Ukrainian army; the Ukrainian defence industry received over $1.1bn from the proceeds of frozen russian assets. In addition, Ukraine has submitted its own projects in the defence-industrial complex within the SAFE mechanism. The total expected funding for these projects is $5bn.
Ukraine will receive its first Lynx IFVs in early 2026. The decision in favour of the Lynx KF41 was made after thorough testing of the next-generation infantry fighting vehicle. The IFVs will be specially configured for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, they will be equipped with a two-seater Lance turret. The next step will be the purchase of additional batches, including those manufactured in Ukraine.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
Over the past day, 219 combat clashes were recorded.
Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 16 times in the areas of the settlements of Prylipka, Dvorichanske, Dovhenke, Starytsia, Kruhle, Chuhunivka, Kutkivka, and in the direction of the settlements of Hrafske, Ternova, Lyman, and Kolodiazne.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy made nine attempts to advance towards Petropavlivka, Novoplatonivka, Kupiansk and Bohuslavka.
Over the past week, there were 1,411 combat engagements on the front line.
Shelling
Yesterday six settlements were hit by enemy strikes. There were no casualties as a result of the shelling.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

▪️4 Molniya UAVs;
▪️1 FPV drone.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️in Bohodukhiv region, a private house, a hangar, a car, a farm building (Zolochiv), and railway infrastructure (Maiak) were damaged;
▪️in Kupiansk region, a private house was damaged (Velykyi Burluk village).
Over the past week, at least 25 settlements, including Kharkiv, were hit by enemy strikes. As a result of the shelling, 11 people were injured.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:
▪️9 missiles (type to be determined);
▪️48 Geran-2 UAVs;
▪️2 Lancet UAVs;
▪️6 Molniya UAVs;

The civilian infrastructure of Kupiansk region was most affected, where an apartment building, 7 private houses, 2 cars, and power lines were damaged.
Significant damage was caused in Chuhuiv region: 4 private houses, 4 cars, a bus, power lines, and a warehouse.
In Kharkiv, the enemy damaged 12 apartment buildings, a garage cooperative, a car, infrastructure, and energy facilities.
The State Emergency Service units defused 475 enemy munitions.
Evacuation
Currently, there are almost 8,900 people remaining in Kupiansk axis, including about 460 residents in Kupiansk. There are 800 people in Borova community.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
In Pokrovsk, operators of heavy Vampire UAVs from the 155th Brigade blew up a five-storey building occupied by russian troops during their retreat. According to the brigade, Ukrainian drone operators were working from the basement when the occupiers already controlled the first floor, after which they were able to evacuate and remotely blow up the building along with ammunition and russian forces.
The General Staff reported that russian troops increased the number of attacks to 16 towards Lyman during the day. The day before, there were 10 assaults. The russian army tried to advance near the settlements of Hrekivka, Karpivka, Shandryholove, Novoiehorivka, Zarichne, Yampil, Lyman, Stavy, and Drobysheve.
Towards Kostiantynivka, russian troops carried out 17 attacks, and towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped 46 assaults over the past day.
Yuliia Stepanuk, Head of the communications department of the 117th Mechanised Brigade, said that the russian Federation is switching to “infantry tactics”: instead of BMPs, small groups of 1-5 people, instead of assaults, attempts to infiltrate under fog and snow. The equipment is in the rear after heavy losses, and the occupiers are relying on FPV drones and camouflage under the snow.
Donetsk police informed that for the first time since the beginning of the year, there were no casualties or injuries in a day from russian army shelling in Donetsk oblast.
On 11 January, russia launched 1,292 strikes on the front line and residential areas.
Four settlements were under attack: Kramatorsk, Lyman, Sloviansk and Novomykolaivka.
A private house in Novomykolaivka, Cherkasy community, was destroyed when the enemy struck it with a Molniya-2 UAV.
According to the city’s military administration, a russian air strike on a boiler room in Kramatorsk on 6 January left 508 apartments in seven high-rise buildings without heating. The boiler room, which provided heat to the buildings, was destroyed at around 10:30pm when a 500-kilogram aerial bomb struck the city. Residents report that the temperature in their apartments is 8°C, there is no water, and people are sleeping in their outer clothing or are forced to leave for relatives’ homes. Repair work is ongoing.
Three ships entered the Mariupol port over the weekend: two loaded with coking coal and one with grain. The occupiers also brought in and took out ammunition.
Petro Andriushchenko, Head of the Centre for the Study of the Occupation, reported that the russians have drained Monakhivske and Khanhonkovske reservoirs in Makiivka, and the water supply has fallen to 35%. The ecological disaster continues, and Mariupol is now also under threat.

Luhansk oblast
Yesterday, russian troops attacked near Hrekivka and Novoiehorivka. There, they carried out 12 mortar attacks and six barrel artillery strikes, and also attempted to hit Ukrainian forces’ positions with UAVs. Near Nadiia, the enemy used mortars three times, an automatic grenade launcher once, and struck with an FPV drone.
Almost the entire territory of the so-called “lpr” was left without centralised water supply on the morning of 12 January. The russians did not prepare critical infrastructure facilities for operation during bad weather: the water supply system in the part of Luhansk oblast occupied since 2014 is in an emergency condition, and in the cities captured in 2022, water pipes are destroyed or damaged. Pumping stations do not have autonomous power sources, and due to emergency power outages, water supply has been suspended.
Unemployment is rising in Siverskodonetsk. The occupiers are not restoring industrial enterprises destroyed during the assault on the city and are not even providing stable work for so-called “reconstruction” facilities. There are formally job vacancies, but russian contractors owe almost all local employees, some up to rub 500,000.
According to Kharchenko Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, on the morning of 12 January, almost the entire occupied Luhansk oblast was left without water supply due to bad weather, the emergency condition of water pipes and power outages at pumping stations.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that russian troops attacked Kyiv on the night of 12 January. A russian drone struck a non-residential building in the Solomyanskyi district, causing a fire. At another address in the same district, debris fell near a residential building, causing a fire. The blast wave knocked out windows in neighbouring buildings and two educational institutions and damaged cars parked nearby.
Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, informed that as a result of the russian night attack in the Vyshhorod district, two private houses and farm buildings were damaged. Windows were broken, facades damaged, and roofs destroyed.
The Regional Military Administration reported that a number of settlements in Kyiv oblast remain without electricity. In total, more than two thousand families in 19 settlements do not have electricity. The largest number of power outages are in the Obukhiv and Fastiv regions. The situation in Brovary and Boryspil regions remains difficult due to the consequences of the russian attack. In addition, due to difficult weather conditions in the oblast, mass power line breaks have occurred. 187 teams of power engineers have been involved in the restoration work.
Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development, reported that work to restore heat supply after the russian attack is proceeding steadily in Kyiv. As of 11 January, about 85% of multi-storey buildings that were left without heating now have heat. All city boiler rooms are operational.
On 14 January, VETERAN SPACE. IRPIN will host a special event – an Argentine tango master class for military personnel, veterans and their families. The class will be conducted by Nuestro Tango School, which shares the art of dance with those who defend Ukraine.
Zhytomyr oblast
Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that russia has been attacking critical infrastructure in Zhytomyr oblast for the second day in a row. Thanks to the professional actions of firefighters, the fires caused by enemy strikes were quickly localized. Emergency services in the oblast are working to eliminate the consequences.
Korosten Mayor Volodymyr Moskalenko informed that in the early morning of 12 January, the russian army attacked a critical railway infrastructure facility. As a result of the strike, part of Korosten is temporarily without electricity. The boiler rooms that provide the city with heat are running on generators.
On 11 January, Ukrzaliznytsia reported that in Zhytomyr oblast, on Olevsk-Korosten axis, a number of suburban trains are temporarily not running on 11 January due to the increased danger from russian attacks. In particular, trains from Olevsk to Korosten and in the opposite direction were cancelled in the morning and after lunch.
The Centre for Culture and Leisure of Semenivka Village Council reported that last week creative and amateur groups from Semenivka community raised over UAH 120,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The money was transferred to the military unit for the weaving of camouflage nets and other needs.
Sumy oblast
On 11 January the 5th Border Guard Detachment reported that in Sumy oblast, their fighters destroyed a russian Merlin-VR reconnaissance UAV. In addition, over the past two days border guards destroyed one Shahed, one Herbera, two Molniya UAVs and 25 russian FPV drones, 14 of which were fibre-optic guided.
The State Emergency Service informed that on the evening of 11 January, a fire broke out at a civilian infrastructure facility in Shostka community as a result of a russian attack. russian forces carried out repeated strikes while rescuers were extinguishing the fire. After the repeated attacks, the fire area increased, but all fire sources were eventually eliminated.
At around 4pm on 11 January, a russian FPV drone hit a passenger car in Verkhnie Pishchane village, Sumy community. According to community elder Mykola Sachenko, the strike damaged the vehicle, as well as a fence, a window and the façade of a nearby house. There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the explosion.
Over the course of the day, from the morning of 11 January to the morning of 12 January, russian forces carried out nearly 60 shelling attacks on 33 settlements across 13 territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted for 23 hours and 13 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed over the day:
- In Krasnopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, a passenger car was damaged;
- In Mykolaivka settlement community, private residential houses and a passenger car were damaged;
- In Sumy community, a passenger car was damaged;
- In Shostka community, civilian infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, non-residential premises, private vehicles and a tractor were damaged.
According to the Department of Education and Science of Sumy Regional Military Administration, since 2022, as a result of the armed aggression of russia, 126 schools in Sumy oblast have been damaged and 15 destroyed. Of these, 85 educational institutions can be restored after the end of the active phase of hostilities, while 12 are currently being restored.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that over the past week, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 96 aerial targets in the skies over Chernihiv oblast.
The State Border Guard Service reported that over the course of 11 January, during russian air attacks, fighters of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine shot down 18 drones in the skies over Chernihiv oblast.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that on the morning of 12 January, russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in Novhorod-Siverskyi city. No casualties were reported preliminarily.
According to Chernihivoblenerho JSC, as a result of russian shelling, a critical energy facility was damaged in Novhorod-Siverskyi region. This led to power outages in a number of settlements. Emergency restoration works will begin as soon as the security situation allows.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that on 11 January in Semenivka, Novhorod-Siverskyi region, russian forces struck an emergency medical service vehicle by a drone while it was responding to a call. Two paramedics were injured, and the vehicle was damaged. The medical workers managed to leave the vehicle before the strike. The men were hospitalised with blast-related injuries.

The Regional Military Administration informed that on 11 January in Semenivka, russian forces attacked a music school building by a Molniya strike UAV. As a result of the strike, the roof of the building was damaged.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, over the course of 11 January, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (five explosions) and tube artillery fire (six explosions), conducted a strike by a Molniya-type UAV (one explosion) and FPV drone attacks (13 explosions). Semenivka town and seven villages came under enemy fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that in the north of Chernihiv oblast, several settlements were left without electricity as a result of a morning enemy strike. According to him, the situation with heat supply remains stable and all boiler houses are operating. More than 260 resilience centres are also functioning across the oblast, where residents can warm up and charge their phones.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Nikopol region. The russian forces continued to attack the region by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, Pokrovske, Marhanetsk and Chervonohryhorivka communities.
In Pokrovske community, a 59-year-old man was injured as a result of a drone strike; he will receive outpatient treatment. A house was damaged.
In Chervonohryhorivka community, 8 private houses, an outbuilding, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged due to artillery shelling.
Air defence forces destroyed 3 enemy UAVs.
Nikopol region. The russian forces again attacked Nikopol region by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, Myrove, Pokrovske, Mozolevske, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanetsk communities. A fire broke out. 2 private houses, a garage, 2 greenhouses, an agricultural enterprise, a non-operational building, a vehicle, infrastructure facilities and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Kryvyi Rih region. The russian forces struck Kryvyi Rih by a UAV, damaging infrastructure.
Vinnytsia oblast
The deaths of 11 defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were confirmed. They are Anatolii Lavreniuk, Dmytro Hrynevych, Mykola Danylchenko, Serhii Turanskyi, Volodymyr Kopachynskyi, Oleh Solovei, Bohdan Shevchuk, Vitalii Dmytryshyn, Stanislav Kondratiuk, Ruslan Vertohruk and Vadym Tovpishchuk.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Velyka Vyska village, Marianivka community, Novoukrainka region, a memorial ceremony was held for 44-year-old serviceman Ihor Azarenko. He held the rank of Senior Soldier and served as an assistant grenade launcher operator in an operational assignment battalion. He died on 30 December 2025 while on duty.
Poltava oblast
In Poltava, a memorial ceremony was held for serviceman Oleksandr Dobrokhlib, who was killed on 28 December 2025 while carrying out a combat mission in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
2 servicemen from Poltava oblast, Yevhen Bahinskyi and Volodymyr Nelin, were killed during hostilities in Donetsk oblast. Their deaths were confirmed following DNA examinations.
Yevhen Bahinskyi was killed on 6 April 2024 as a result of russian artillery shelling near Ivanivske village, Donetsk oblast.
Volodymyr Nelin was killed on 3 January 2025 while carrying out a combat mission near Sontsivka village, Donetsk oblast.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporozhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that today, 12 January, russians struck Novoukrainka with a guided aerial bomb, damaging a house and outbuildings. One person was injured.
Zaporozhzhia RMA reported that yesterday, 11 January, the occupiers carried out 498 strikes across 23 settlements in Zaporozhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 7 airstrikes on Rizdvianka, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Vozdvyzhivka, and Verkhnia Tersa. 273 drones of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Vilniansk, Bilenke, Slavne, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Solodke, and Pryluky. There were 5 MLRS strikes on Lukianivske, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Sviatopetrivka, and Dobropillia. 213 artillery strikes targeted Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Solodke, and Pryluky. 36 reports were received of damage to houses, vehicles, and outbuildings. One person was killed, and four were injured as a result of enemy attacks on Zaporozhzhia oblast.
According to the General Staff, as of 4pm on 12 January, there were 24 clashes in the areas of Huliaipole, Olenokostiantynivka, and Varvarivka. In some locations, fighting continues to this day.
Mykolaiv oblast
Mykolaiv RMA reported that during the night of 12 January, three Shahed 131/136 drones and other types of drones were shot down or suppressed in Mykolaiv oblast.
Yesterday, the enemy attacked Ochakiv community three times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.
Odesa oblast
Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, reported that russian forces again attacked civilian ships in the Black Sea. As a result of a drone strike, a Panama-flagged tanker and a San Marino-flagged vessel carrying grain were damaged.
Odesa RMA reported that on the morning of 12 January, a winery in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi region was hit by a drone. The roof of the production building was damaged, and a fire broke out.
Last night, the enemy once again attacked residential and energy infrastructure in Odesa oblast with strike drones. Two people were injured. The attack damaged energy facilities and an administrative building. One private house was destroyed, and at least five others were damaged. The attack caused power outages in several settlements and one of Odesa’s districts.
Kherson oblast
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of Kherson RMA, reported that around 13:40, occupying forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. As a result of the attack, a 79-year-old woman received fatal injuries.
Kherson RMA reported that two women were injured in today’s attacks on Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. One victim was diagnosed with an explosive injury and shrapnel wounds to the back, while the other sustained a mine-explosive injury and a concussion.
Additionally, two men sought medical help after being affected by russian shelling. One received an explosive injury and concussion during the russian attack on Dniprovskyi district on 5 January. A resident of Bilozerska, attacked by a drone on 6 January, suffered an explosive injury and a concussion.
According to Kherson RMA, on 11 January, the russian forces attacked Antonivka, Sadove, Molodizhne, Prydniprovske, Blahovishchenske, Bilozerska, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Shyroka Balka, Oleksandrivka, Kizomys, Dniprovske, Tomaryne, Mykhailivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Vesele, and the city of Kherson. Three private houses, a gas pipeline, and private garages were damaged. One person was killed as a result of russian aggression.
The Center for National Resistance reported that in Skadovsk, on the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson oblast, the illegal administration is involving children in simulated combat under the guise of “innovative leisure.” A tournament was organized for children at the “Center for eSports Development and Sports Programming”. russian military personnel participated in the event, which turned the sporting activity into propaganda. Young people were encouraged to participate in the so-called “special military operation” and at the end of the competition, winners received certificates and literature containing military propaganda.
Scientists at the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve, named after F.E. Falz-Fein, reported that during the winter period, there is a severe shortage of feed in the biosphere reserve occupied by russian forces. This threatens the survival of hoofed animal populations. Specialists noted that in previous decades, before the russian occupation, the reserve had been prepared in advance for harsh winters.

Volyn oblast
The village of Bobly honored the memory of defender Oleksandr Chipcheruk. The soldier was killed on 10 January, 2025, while performing a combat mission near the village of Viyimka, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
A holiday was organized in Uzhhorod for about 170 Roma children and internally displaced persons. The Bavka puppet theater showed them the New Year’s Adventures interactive performance and gave them sweet gifts. The event was organized for the eleventh time by the Blaho CF with the support of the RMA.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The communities of the Carpathian region continue to join forces within the framework of the Side by Side: United Communities project, which aims to strengthen mutual support and cooperation with frontline territories. Kaluska community is visited by children from Sadivka territorial community of Sumy oblast, which is located near the combat zone. During the week, 14 children accompanied by adults have the opportunity to rest, recover and feel peace and care.
Lviv oblast
A 5G pilot has been launched in the center of Lviv. The key advantage of this technology is the data transfer speed of about 500 Mbps per subscriber. In January, 5G will be launched in Borodianka, in February – in Kharkiv and later in other cities of Ukraine.
Rivne oblast
The enemy attacked the northern regions for almost 24 hours. No people were injured. There is damage to the infrastructure. The relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences.
Ternopil oblast
10 defenders of the Ternopil community will receive a one-time grant of UAH 15,000 for treatment and rehabilitation. In 2025, 579 soldiers received funds.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Last year, Khmelnytskyi community donated over 600 DJI MATRICE 4T and similar quadcopters thanks to the taxpayers’ funds.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that last year, Storozhynetsk community allocated UAH 7m for the needs of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Espen Barth Eide, Foreign Minister of Norway, announced that the country is providing an aid package to Ukraine worth almost $400m. The funds will be used for urgent needs, including the restoration and repair of energy facilities.
