On 9 March, there were 95 clashes on the front. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the enemy’s plans.
Border areas of settlements in Ukraine suffered from Russian artillery shelling, including Ulanov, Turya, Vilne in Sumy oblast; Karpovychi, Yanzhulivka, Tymonovychi and Bleshnia in Chernihiv oblast.
Towards Kharkiv, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy assaults near Vovchansk. In addition, the enemy launched airstrikes with guided bombs on Borova and Kozacha Lopan.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to advance to Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Lozova, Petropavlivka and Zahryzove three times.
Towards Lyman, the aggressor also increased the number of attacks to nine. It attacked near the settlements of Balka Zhuravka, Novolubivka, Myrne, Ivanivka and Yampolivka, 11 battles are currently ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the invaders became more active, having carried out 18 attacks, seven of which were repelled by Ukrainian soldiers. The invaders’ units are trying to advance in the vicinity of Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske and towards Serebrianka.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders are repelling the enemy’s attack, three more clashesended, the enemy is conducting active operations in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka and towards Stupochky and Bila Hora.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy tried to advance 13 times in the vicinity of Toretsk, Druzhba and Dachne. Currently, six clashes are ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy initiated clashes of varying intensity 20 times. Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Yelizavetivka, Promin, Dachenske, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Preobrazhenka, Andriivka and Ulakly. Currently, three more clashes are ongoing. Enemy aviation struck with GABs at Pokrovsk, Nadiivka, Odradne and Zvirove.
Towards Novopavlivka, one attack was repelled by Ukrainian defenders near Skudne.
Towards Huliaipole, near Novopil and Privilne, two clashes ended, four more attacks by the invaders are ongoing. The settlements of Huliaipole and Shevchenko were subjected to airstrikes by GABs and unguided rockets.
Towards Orikhiv, the invaders advanced three times near Stepove and Shcherbaky, one battle is still ongoing. Novoandriivka was subjected to NAR strikes.
Towards Kherson, the enemy did not conduct active offensive operations.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 attacks by the invaders, six clashes are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out 12 airstrikes, dropping 13 KABs, and also launched 257 artillery attacks, including ten from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the remaining directions, there were no significant changes in the situation.
Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire front line and in the rear.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informs that over the past week, russia has used about 1,200 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. Almost 870 attack drones and more than 80 missiles of various types were also used.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that over the past week, 700 air attack vehicles were destroyed. Among them are 25 X-101 cruise missiles, 8 Kalibr cruise missiles, 1 Iskander-K cruise missile, 1 Kh-59 guided aerial missile, 520 Shahed attack drones, 39 reconnaissance drones and 106 drones of other types.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
The RMA reported that the day before, towards Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repelled six enemy attacks near Vovchansk and towards Petro-Ivanivka.
Towards Kupiansk, there were 11 attacks. The defense forces repelled the enemy’s assault actions near the settlements of Kindrashivka, Lozova, Stepova Novoselivka, Nova Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.
Shelling
The prosecutor’s office reported that at about 07:30, russian troops shelled Stetskivka, damaging the windows of a residential building and outbuildings.
At 23:57, russians attacked Izium region, Balakliia city.A Shahed UAV hit the roof of a two-story lyceum building, causing a fire. The second hit of the UAV targeted another part of the lyceum, resulting in damage to the window glazing, the roof, and the ceiling between the roof and the third floor of the lyceum. As a result of the shelling, the window glazing was damaged in 6 apartment buildings, the regional center of the Primary Health Care Service, the window glazing in the building of the Employment Center, the Center for Children and Youth Creativity, two cafes, and two cars were damaged.
At about 23:24, russians attacked Chuhuiv region, Kochetok village. Two Shahed UAVs hit a non-residential building, rescuers extinguished the fire.
At 21:40, russians attacked Kupiansk. As a result of the shelling, a private house and a car were damaged.
At 16:34, russians attacked Bohodukhiv region, between the settlements of the villages of Turove and Svitlychne. A 36-year-old man was injured and hospitalized when an FPV drone hit his car.
At 15:00, russians attacked Kupiansk region, the village of Kivsharivka. A 41-year-old man died as a result of artillery shelling on the street.
At 15:00, russians attacked Kupiansk. A 46-year-old man was injured as a result of shelling with an FPV drone, a private house was damaged.
At 13:25, russians attacked Kharkiv region, the village of Tsyrkuny. The fall of the Molniya UAV in an open area, as a result of which the grass burned.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that russian troops have increased the number of attacks towards Lyman. The occupation army stormed the positions of the Defense Forces near Novomykhailivka, Nove, Myrne, Kolodiaz, Yampolivka and Zelena Dolyna 23 times, the day before there were six fewer attacks – 17.
The Ukrainian military stopped most of the assaults towards Pokrovsk. The russian army tried to advance 25 times, in particular, in the vicinity of Yelizavetivka, Promin, Andriivka, Oleksandropol, Serhiivka, Bohdanivka, Zelenyi Kut and Ulakli. Another 19 battles were in the urban area of Toretsk and near Druzhba.
Viktor Trehubov, Spokesman for the Khortytsia unit, says that the Russian army has partially reduced the pressure on Pokrovske due to the effective defense of the Defense Forces on this section of the front and improved interaction between the infantry and UAV units of the Ukrainian army. According to the General Staff, since February 22, russian troops have only twice carried out more than 30 attacks towards Pokrovsk.
Shelling
Sergey Gorbunov, Head of the RMA, reports that on the morning of March 9, russian troops struck Kostiantynivka with a drone. There is no information about any injuries or deaths as a result of the shelling.
According to the police, russian troops carried out 3,658 shelling attacks along the front line and residential sector. The hits occurred in 10 settlements. 64 civilian objects were damaged, including 41 residential buildings.

The enemy struck Kostiantynivka with aircraft, Smerch MLRS and UAVs. 8 civilians were injured, 12 apartment buildings and 12 private houses, 2 administrative buildings, a pharmacy, 2 shops, a medical facility, cars, 4 gas pipelines and power lines were damaged.
In Druzhkivka, 12 people were injured as a result of airstrikes, including a child. 8 apartment buildings and a cafe were destroyed.
In Podilske, the occupiers struck with a drone, wounding a civilian and damaging two private houses.
Luhansk oblast
Towards Lyman, russians fired 16 times from artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. At the same time, the enemy significantly increased the use of drones: 339 UAVs were directed towards the Ukrainian defenders. This is the largest number of drones used by the occupiers during the day on our front line.
The invaders are turning the so-called “lnr” into a resource base for continuing the war. The russian manufacturer of military products has control over several industrial enterprises in the occupied regions, including Luhansk. The production capacities of the car-building plant in Kadiivka and the aircraft repair plant in Luhansk are aimed at defense orders. Another key factor in attracting the production base of the occupied territories for the needs of the front is cheaper labor.
The occupation leadership of the local water utility in Siverskodonetsk owed employees at least three million rubles. As with other housing and communal services enterprises in the city, there has been a delay of several months in the payment of salaries. 95 employees have not received payments since November.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv City Military Administration reported that 33 russian UAVs were spotted on the outskirts of the capital at night. 12 of them were destroyed by air defence systems, the rest were location lost or left the airspace.
According to the Kyiv RMA, a russian attack damaged three cars in Bucha district and an outbuilding in Brovary district.
On 8 March, diplomatic teams from Ukraine and the UK met in Kyiv. They discussed joint steps that could help achieve peace and accelerate diplomatic work.
The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, together with the Recruitment Centre of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Terrorist Defence Forces, started training students and teachers in basic military training. During the practical training, students were taught how to handle weapons, wear armour and pilot UAVs in a simulator, as well as do the basics of tactical medicine. Separately, the school’s faculty members volunteer to attend weekly theory and practice classes.
On 8 March, the ‘America, Wake Up!’ rally against Donald Trump’s policy towards Ukraine was held in front of the US Embassy in Kyiv. The organisers state that their main goal is to remind people about the importance of supporting Ukrainians fighting for democracy.
Zhytomyr oblast
In Zhytomyr, 8 gyms have joined the Veterans’ Sport programme. Veterans can go in for sports either on their own or with a coach. The programme was launched in January 2025. Under the programme, combatants and people with war-related disabilities can receive UAH 1,500 every quarter to pay for sports activities.
Sumy oblast
On 8 March, the Kursk United Command reported that the largest assault actions by russian military forces took place in the directions from the settlement of Korenievo towards Sudzha, as well as towards Novoivanivka, Mala Loknia, and south of Sudzha. The Ukrainian command is taking necessary measures to strengthen the resilience of the defense. Reserves have been deployed to stabilize the situation, causing significant losses to enemy units.
According to the Communication Center, the information about a massive breakthrough by russian units at the state border of Ukraine does not correspond to reality. In the areas of the settlements of Novenke and Zhuravka in Sumy oblast, russian military forces continue to operate with reconnaissance and sabotage groups and small infantry groups of a few people. They are trying to gain a foothold on Ukrainian territory to expand the combat zone, but Ukrainian military forces are destroying them.
Sumy City Council informed that at night, the russian army struck Sumy by a Molniia drone. As a result of the strike, an office building was damaged, and 11 windows were shattered.
On 8 March, around 10pm, an enemy UAV crashed in Sumy. It hit near residential buildings. A fire broke out in the outbuildings. According to the Regional Military Administration, preliminary reports indicate that there are no injured or deceased people.
On 9 March, in the skies over Sumy oblast, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 6 enemy Shahed drones.
During the night and morning, russian forces carried out 16 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast. A total of 44 strikes from various types of weapons were recorded. The communities of Sumy, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, and Esman were under enemy fire. As a result of the shelling in Sumy, residential infrastructure and non-residential buildings were damaged, and in Esman community, 3 private houses were damaged.
Throughout the past day, russian forces carried out 116 shelling attacks on Sumy oblast. There were 230 strikes. The enemy used mortars (31 explosions), artillery (47 explosions), MLRS (30 explosions), FPV-drones (78 explosions), launched GAB (1 explosion), and dropped VOG from UAVs (25 explosions). The affected communities were Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Nova Slobidka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, Seredyna-Buda, Svesa, and Znob-Novhorod.
The Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of the shelling of Khotin community on 8 March, non-residential buildings, 4 cars, and 2 private houses were damaged. The enemy carried out 30 strikes by MLRSs and dropped 6 VOGs from UAVs on the community’s territory. In Znob-Novhorodske community, one civilian was injured due to MLRS shelling.

Chernihiv oblast
The North Operational Command reports that in Chernihiv oblast, as a result of attacks by the russian army on 8 March, a critical infrastructure facility, private houses, and buildings were damaged.
In Buchky village, Novhorod-Siverskyi community, several buildings caught fire.
A critical infrastructure facility was damaged in Medvedivka village, Semenivka community.
Private houses were damaged in the villages of Tymonovychi and Hirske in Semenivka and Snovsk communities, respectively.
Throughout the day on 8 March, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk, and Horodnia. A total of 99 strikes were recorded. The enemy used FPV-drones (33 explosions), dropped explosives from UAVs (32 explosions), and fired mortars (27 explosions) and artillery (7 explosions). According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, seventeen settlements were under enemy fire.
In Voznesensk, a gymnasium has set up an underground school. They repaired the shelter, which now allows children to continue their education even during air raids. The project was supported by the charitable foundation ‘To Ukraine with Love,’ and the funds for the shelter repairs were provided by an American family who visited Chernihiv oblast in the summer of 2024.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk., Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, said that at night, the enemy shelled Nikopol with artillery. A fire broke out in a private house. During the day, the occupiers shelled Nikopol with artillery and drones more than a dozen times. Two people were injured in the region centre — a 56-year-old woman was hospitalised in moderate condition and an 18-year-old girl. In general, the enemy targeted Nikopol, Pokrov, Marhanets and Myrove communities. Fires broke out, businesses, 3 private houses, a garage, a car, an unused building, infrastructure and a power line were damaged. According to updated information, a 53-year-old man who was seriously wounded in the russian attack on Kryvyi Rih died in hospital.
Vinnytsia oblast
In the week from 3 to 9 March 2025, it became known that 21 defenders from Vinnytsia oblast had died for Ukraine.
Poltava oblast
Poltava Regional Military Administration reported that at night, the enemy attacked Poltava oblast. In Lubny district, two outbuildings were destroyed as a result of a UAV crash.
In Poltava, relatives and friends of prisoners of war came out to hold a weekly rally to remind them of prisoners of war and all missing persons.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that a total of 9 russian UAVs were destroyed in Cherkasy oblast. One of the enterprises suffered from enemy aggression. Rescuers promptly carried out the necessary set of measures to eliminate the consequences.

Yesterday, on March 8, two wildfires broke out in the ecosystems of Zaporizhzhia as a result of Russian shelling. According to the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the fires caused damage to the environment over an area of more than 2.4 hectares.
According to the General Staff, in the Huliaipole direction, two combat clashes in the areas of Novopil and Pryvilne have ended, while four more enemy attacks are ongoing.

Mykolaiv oblast
On March 9, at around 8:48 p.m., an explosion was heard in Mykolaiv. An air raid alert in the region was announced at 8:17 p.m. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a threat of drone attacks.
During the night of March 9, air defense forces in the Mykolaiv region destroyed one Shahed 131/136 UAV.
Yesterday, on March 8, at approximately 7:45 a.m., the enemy launched a missile strike on an open area of the Mykolaiv district, likely using an Iskander-M missile. No casualties or destruction were reported.
Additionally, yesterday, the enemy carried out two artillery shellings and five FPV drone attacks on the Kutsurub community. At 8:15 a.m., the enemy also attacked the waters near the Ochakiv community with an FPV drone. No casualties were reported.
Odesa oblast
On 8 March, russian forces attacked Odesa oblast with an anti-radar missile. According to the South Air Command, the region was targeted with an X-31P missile launched from a russian Su-30 fighter jet over the Black Sea. The missile lost its combat capability over the sea.
As of 6 am on 9 March, one enemy carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles was present in the Black Sea, with a total salvo capacity of up to four missiles. There were four enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including three carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to 26 missiles.
Two vessels passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in russia’s interest, while five ships entered the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
The russian army once again attacked the city of Kherson. A russian UAV strike injured two people. A 19-year-old man suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wound to his leg. A 50-year-old woman sustained chest and arm wounds. In the morning, a 55-year-old woman suffered a blast injury and concussion due to russian shelling in Tsentralnyi district.
Around 12:30 pm, the occupiers attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson using a drone. As a result of the explosion, a woman sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to her forearm. Another woman was hospitalized in critical condition with a blast injury and traumatic amputation of her legs.
At approximately 2:40 pm, the occupiers dropped explosives from a UAV in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. Two women, aged 53 and 55, were injured and hospitalized with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds. An 18-year-old boy was also taken to the hospital after being hit by a russian drone strike. He suffered a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his leg.
A Kherson resident sought medical assistance after being injured in yesterday’s drone attack. A 71-year-old woman was diagnosed with a blast injury and concussion.
Yesterday, the enemy shelled Antonivka, Naddniprianske, Bilozerka, Novodmytrivka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Tomyna Balka, Sofiivka, Mykilske, Beryslav, Vysoke, Novovorontsovka, Dudchany, Zmiivka, Kozatske, Sadove, Molodizhne, Inzhenerne, Prydniprovske, Burhunka, Zolota Balka, Novoraisk, Bila Krynytsia, Veletenske, Vesele, Vyrivka, Ivanivka, Kachkarivka, Kizomys, Komyshany, Mykolaivka, Monastyrske, Novooleksandrivka, Olhivka, Osokorivka, Poniativka, Rozlyv, Tokarivka, Tiahynka, and the city of Kherson. He was killed while performing a combat mission near the village of Novoyehorivka, Luhansk oblast.
Rivne oblast
The RMA reported that soldier Ivan Holyk was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order and the Cross of the Brave honorary breastplate by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ternopil oblast
There are 25 volunteers of the On the Shield mission working in Ternopil oblast, organizing the return home of fallen Ukrainian soldiers. These are drivers, coordinators, people who organize meetings and support the families of the deceased. The mission operates exclusively on a volunteer basis, without state funding. All expenses are covered by charitable contributions and the support of caring people.

Chernivtsi oblast
As part of the Mandrotherapy project, which is implemented by Chernivtsi RMA, wounded soldiers visited the building of Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, the former Residence of the Metropolitans of Bukovina and Dalmatia. Thanks to the Mandrotherapy project, over 200 soldiers have already had the opportunity to visit the excursions.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy stated that Ukraine and China have signed an agreement to expand the list of Ukrainian agricultural exports to China.
The government has signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank for €2bn to rebuild Ukraine. The funds will be used for projects in energy, transport, export infrastructure, as well as for the restoration of schools, hospitals, water supply and heating.
A huge Ukrainian flag was unfurled near the White House. About a thousand people gathered in a field near the White House to call on Donald Trump and the US government to continue supporting Ukraine.
